Intro Post: Eighth Fandom Remake

the names Ace, but a lot of people also call me Sans. my pronouns are she/it.

i'm full force in my Naruto era and i'm in the long haul about these weirdo ninjas so buckle up baybay. and i'm playing Kingdom Hearts for serious starting october 19th so thatll have me insane.

yes i'm a multishipper, yes i'm a polyshipper, and yes, i'm down to try anything at least once. yes, even that ship, you know, the one that makes bile build in the back of your throat.

i'm someone that attempts to be a neutral party, although i do have shifting biases of my own, i won't actively go out of my way to scour out haterisms or whatever to put on my blog. too much energy to be a hater on main and i don't have that kind of energy that's required for that dedication. i will reblog analysis of characters and ships from either end of the discussion if it floats across my dash though, i find analysis to be intriguing even though i can't do it myself very well.

Fanfic Writing - New Year's Resolutions

Hey fellow fic writers <3 I know it's still not the end of the year, but it's December and I'm impatient, so I would like to share with you my writing plans for 2024 and ask you to do so too, if you want to. My Ao3 for convenience is Yuujeong, where you can check out all the things I'll be referencing below. So, in my case, I *hope* that in 2024, I will be able to: - write at least one more chapter for "Little House on the Hill" (I make no promises though, I've kind of moved on from that fic, even though it holds such a special place in my heart) - write and post the third installment of my "Heroes and Villains" series (I have neglected this one for months but I hadn't figured out this fic completely up until last month, when the full picture of it came to me and I managed to get unstuck. Hopefully, next year you'll be reading it) - finish and post the sequel to "Broken Vows" (istg I haven't forgotten it, on the contrary, it haunts my dreams, it's just such a tricky little shit that I ended up asking for help about it. It'll be in such capable hands now, and I hope people will enjoy reading it) - continue my Kim&Pete fic series (the second installment won't be too difficult to write - she says, as if she doesn't need at least a month for a fic to be written and edited before posting - but the one after that will be multi-chaptered and looong, so I'll need time and a lot of effort to pull it off. 2024 *will* see this series written and concluded though, I swear) - ARMPETE!! (I have a fic I've been meaning to work on for months now and it'll probably end up not being multi-chaptered as I intended at first. Unfortunately the inspiration for more than that has run out BUT I will enrich the fandom with this rarepair or so help me-) - write at least one BostonNick fic (there's one that's the most likely to be written, which is about Boston getting a haircut and I think it's cute and would love to explore the idea. Also, a Nick character study fic because my boy deserves the world) - write smut! Yep, in 2024 we're getting horny baby (prepare for some VP somno shenanigans, because there's not nearly enough of it in the fandom and that's a huge shame) - participate in at least one fandom event (the kpts Big Bang, while stressful for multiple reasons, was incredibly fun and I would love to do something like that again - same goes for things like Secret Santa events which are cool too) - try writing fics for some of my other favorite shows besides kpts (kpts was unique in the way only TMNT has been for me before, which was it giving me so many brainworms I needed to express my self artistically in the only way I was capable. In 2024, I would like to revisit some of my favorite shows and figure out if the same can happen with them too) I probably have more to share but I'll leave it here. Hi yes hello take some Shared Nightmares doodles while I work on the peepaw au(now known as ‘One More Time’)

The Mikey’s! Featuring Donnie’s patented spirit visors. He 100% based them off of Jupiter Jim.

And ghost Don and Leo through the lens of the visors! They just appear as one giant glitchy mess, their areas of injury being the most fuzzy. While the ghosts themselves can’t make any sound, they do produce a constant buzz of static, like an old tv that’s wires got twisted.

You mean splattered neon? I DEFINITELY do not have a perfect image of it haha, i wish I did tho! All I really have is a few character designs, a general theme, and some personalities + character quirks. Aside from that, I don't really have too much going for it.

I want there to be more tho !! I'd love to make a full ass plot and storyline, make a krang and shredder, figure out what everyone's goals are, make some original baddies, etc. etc. The whole "make a story" thing is just really hard for me — I'm more of a "character personality and interaction" person than a "plot" person. I really hope to figuring out something tho!! It's a huge want for my own tmnt, but I don't even know where to start haha

Okay so hi ducktales fans! If you haven’t heard the news yet, ducktales is ending this season. I don’t think it’s entirely clear if it was what the DT crew wanted, or D*sn*y. I was in the Rise of the TMNT fandom and saw the “hard pause” they did to the crew. Again, I don't entirely know if the end of DT was what the crew wanted or D*sn*y, but I have a feeling the dt crew might have wanted to go on another season (possibly).

Make your voices heard!

Tell Disney what you think about the cancellation (politely. Trust me, I’d like to rip em a new one too, but we need to act civil). Tell them how much the show means to you! Tell em how you wanted merch (remember the NY toy show with all that merch we never got? because i do!)

Don’t let them get a moments peace from our love for the show. Blow up their twitter with tweets!

make sure you @ all the official disney accounts and use the hashtag #renewducktales2017. I think we could also start one to show our appreciation to the crew for what they’ve done. That seemed to work for rottmnt.

Even if this does nothing to change their minds, we got our voices heard and that’s a step in the right direction. It could at least maybe save other shows from getting the same treatment.

Halloween Retales IX: The Backstock Special

-Today was slow. Very slow. It’s usually pretty slow because most people who don’t give that much of a shit about Halloween, don’t have children, and/or have enough brain cells to make a frog’s leg twitch wouldn’t go in the store until maybe early October, but today was especially slow. Not as slow as it’s supposed to be tomorrow based on forecasts, but damn near close.

-I ended up being put on backstock duty since there was hardly anyone around. For the uninitiated or for the initiated who realize I’m throwing around nonsensical terms because I don’t know how most polysyllabic words work, this entailed me going into The Back, grabbing some shit out of boxes, going to the shit’s respective section, and figuring out if I can fit it on without breaking a rack, being redundant or both. From doing this, I learned:

We have way too many blowup dinosaur costumes (about 16)

We have too many costumes from a toddler show called PJ Masks

There’s just a random adult He Man costume in the boys’ section (I ended up putting it in backstock for no reason other than it pissed me off and I couldn’t find a better place for it so I put the closest to Hell I possibly could)

We don’t have a Star Wars Section (I “made” one but it currently consists of one Darth Vader costume, some beanies, Darth Vader socks, some Stormtrooper onesies with a man who’s objectively too menacingly attractive to be wearing them let alone any sleepwear, and a Michelangelo costume (turtle not painter) that couldn’t fit in the adjacent TMNT rack, so I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a formal section. Keep in mind: we have a near-empty wall where the Fortnite stuff should go but we’ve still received next to nothing)

I drank too much coffee to simply exist in the third dimension

-Speaking of dimensions, there was a pickle costume in backstock that claimed to include a “dimensional costume” and I don’t know what that means despite looking right at what must’ve been an example of a dimensional costume. I have never been so scared by a man dressed as a pickle in my life (but obviously there’s room for much worse; sn: the R/ick a/nd M/orty section doesn’t seem as popular as one might think but for all I know the Szechuan sauce shit could’ve happened 5 years ago).

-During my break, I paced around the back, looking into dark rooms and whispering “Something terrible must’ve happened here”. I sat on the toilet, looked at a spot on the floor, and said “Something is very wrong”. Shortly after, I had an epiphany: I should use the breaks I don’t use for eating to try on costumes I normally wouldn’t. I don’t know if I’ll use this information in the future, but I’m glad I was made aware of it. I returned from my break enlightened but afraid. Two hours later, there was a mysterious droning sound that seemed to come from the back but stopped moments later. Staples knows something we don’t, and it can’t be good.

-A miracle occurred today: Million Reasons by The Queen Herself Lady Gaga came on the garbage store radio. I attempted to capture this with my animatronic fiancé via a video funny (the word “meme” is dead to me now so we’re going back to the 50’s, folks (I mean in terms of slang, not social progress)) but I kept being interrupted by customers who decided that the best time to shop for Halloween products is 7:46pm on a Tuesday. Like what the fuck it’s almost like we’re a store or something (corporate would argue that we’re an “experience” but the only time you get that is if you ask (sn: please don’t ask me or any other Halloween store employee, regardless of chain, for the “experience”; AFAIK neither we nor any other chain have one)).

-A young woman ran into the store and asked if we were hiring. I attempted to help before my manager interevened. I was still holding the card they give to potential hires. My manager took down her name and phone number, and she took the card. She was wearing an MCR shirt. We have a handful of emos and goths on our team already, but I hope the entire team turns into Hot Topic rejects by the end of the season. It’s unrealistic, but I’m entitled to my dreams.

-My manager told me that a mother and her daughter not only used the fitting room on their own, but left a mess behind in the process. When they went back again, I tried to stop them but quickly realized I was treading into territory I lacked the skill to be in. What was I supposed to say, “Hey, half-naked girl and clothed woman, I need to hold onto your stuff so you don’t steal it”? I gave up 75% of the way in. Putting the shit back wasn’t terrible, but I’m not getting paid to not complain in the privacy of a closed store.

-I asked my manager when there was about 30 minutes left if I could play music as long as it didn’t have sinful words in it. She said it was okay, but after I got everything situated, she told me:

None of the other managers would let me do this (not necessarily true; only one or two that I know of would or could have a problem with it)

If corporate found out they’d have a fit since they handpick the songs to maximize profits and to “create atmosphere” (personal opinion but I don’t think playing shitty radio pop and obscure (and usually therefore also shitty) Halloween music wouldn’t make me want to buy anything more than otherwise; if anything I just find it annoying).

We’d be fine as long as the district manager didn’t walk in during the last 30 minutes

These were not things I wanted to hear at 8:30pm but I figured it was too late, and if anything bad happened I could just become more successful than the entire company and, Idk, find a convoluted way to get revenge. A car sat facing the store for a full minute without any turn signal on, and then abruptly drove off shortly after both my manager and I noticed it. Thankfully, I’m pretty sure we’re in the clear and no one was traumatized by my selection of fairly unobscure alt rock, but that taste of freedom gave me a newly found distate for the corporate radio. One day, company I won’t name so I don’t get fucked over, one day...

I had to cheat a bit with No3 (there's an unintelligible phrase before the line, which is put there on purpose) and No8 (there's a short of poem-like snippet before the main fic because I just couldn't resist), but other than that, oh shit there *is* a pattern. I guess I love using short, punchy sentences (with the exception of No2) that manage to 1. set the tone and 2. give the reader a general idea about what they should expect... which is tension and angst in almost all of them lmao. That's all I got, honestly, I don't know if there's anything else. I'd like to tag @fleet-off, @lu-sn, @adanima, @suzteel, @dual-desires, @thisautistic and anyone else who would like to do this :3 (I know some of you have less than 10 fics posted but you deserve to talk about your writing if you want to, soooo 😇)
