well a little more things about my second chance AU:
Tim is in open relationships with Sasha and they're t4t
Not!Sasha is Sasha's friend with benefits (benefit is beating each other's ass in arguments and sometimes in chess); their name is Alex (yeah they're nonbinary with identity crisis because in past life their whole existence was just mimicking Sasha, that shit was hard to remember and understand in the new world)
Helen and Michael are best friends and they have crazy sleepovers where thay braid each other's hair and paint nails and instead of gossiping they are discussing and reflexing how being Spiral avatars traumatised them
Gerry and Jon got along very well, they listen to similar music and sometimes try to cover mcr; Gerry plays guitar and Jon sings. when Tim discovered this at first he made shit ton of jokes, but then joined them with drums
Mike Crew was wandering around the archives team untill Martin noticed him and invited him to That Party (yeah the one where Michael got drunk as hell)
Annabelle and Jon have complicated relationships but call each other friends anyway

Mamahersh’s Post-MAG-200 Fanfic Recommendation Mega Thread
@a-mag-a-day
In celebration of us finishing The Magnus Archives (even if I admittedly fell off around S2 and have been mostly lurking since then), I have compiled all of my fave post series fics for your enjoyment! I will be grouping them in some big, general categories, which I’ll list above the read more here. Depending on the size of this post, it might start looking a bit like that “Do you like the sky?” post But I can assure you that I have read all of these and can give them my stamp of approval!
If you finished the series and were wishing for your best boys to finally be happy, then boy howdy do I have some fanfiction for you!
Time Travel

By these categories, we should hopefully cover all the recommendations I have, and I hope you all find some new fics! (or enjoy rereading fics you haven’t enjoyed in awhile)
TIME TRAVEL
where there’s a will, we make a way by bubonickitten
"So, what does happen if an Eye learns to See within itself?
What happens is this: the Archive Beholds the Watcher – and the Watcher blinks first."
________________________
Jon goes back to before the world ended and tries to forge a different path.
Probably my fave time travel fic in this fandom hands down; it is also currently the longest whilst still unfinished. While I try not to recommend unfinished fics that I am uncertain of their return to activity, this is a big exception and personally I love everything about it! It’s got Jon dealing with trauma through the lens of his speaking only in Statements, Martin being saved from his downward spiral into the Lonely way earlier in S4, Georgie actually sticking around, Basira having a better grasp of the situation and being more understanding about it, and everyone generally sticking close to character while managing to buck parts of the narrative. I cannot recommend this fic enough, and I very likely already did back near the start of S5.
Something’s Different About You Lately by thesnadger
Jonathan Sims has been head archivist for just a few months, but he has memories of holding the position for years. He remembers monsters, and darkness, and the end of the world. Somehow, he'll have to keep everyone safe from what's coming. Meanwhile, his assistants can't understand why their prickly jerk of a boss has gone sappy all of a sudden.
So TMA time travel fics that focus on Jon going back tend to come in two varieties. There’s the “Jon’s mind goes back and replaces himself/inhabits his past self’s body” and then there’s the “Jon physically goes back so there’s two Jons”. The first two on this list are of the first variety, and if I remember right this was one of the first I ever read. However, I recommend this one specifically because this has an amazing ending. Like, it might just be me, but many of the endings in these feel relatively unsatisfying because there’s magically a third option where Jon comes out unscathed while saving his S1 archives crew from the Horrors. For whatever reason, it was incredibly satisfying having a fic that didn’t shy away from the options presented in S4 and S5 and I love how they characterize everyone in this one as well.
100 Seconds to Midnight by starspangledbread
Jon and Martin find themselves back in 2011 after attempting to release the fears from their reality. The world is the same one they left behind, but now something has come back with them. They have a chance to destroy the fears once and for all, but it proves harder than expected. Who knew that the best laid plans could be thwarted by nosy co-workers, office romance, the inevitable learning curve of being a time traveler turned grifter, and the refusal to believe in subtlety?
Did someone say Extinction!Jon? This also is a part of a series, though the true sequel to this one is currently unfinished (though it should eventually be completed and only has one chapter to go). An excellent romp, I definitely recommend if you’re looking for something kinda dark, some comedy, a little OOC, and Martin being able to embrace his crime side in the name of saving the world.
Yesterday is Here by CirrusGrey
"Who the hell are you?" Jon could feel his hands shaking. The man laughed, taking a step forward and raising a hand to point at him. "I'm you, from the future!" he said, then swayed, eyes going unfocused, and collapsed to the floor in a dead faint. -------- Post-season-four Jon and Martin time travel back to the season one Archives.
Written by my fave (and most prolific) JMart author, we have a perfect example of the other kind of time travel fix it fic in the form of Jon physically travelling to the past to try and save the world. As expected by someone I am calling my fave JMart author, we’re going to be getting double dose on the JMart. I highly recommend if you’re looking for something that starts a little bittersweet, but then ends in copious amounts of fluff.
Reverb (Series) by Wolftraps
Undoing the apocalypse would have been enough for Jon, if all his people survived. Without them, Jon's only recourse is making it so it never happened in the first place. He's going to do better this time.
Summary from the first fic in the Reverb series, I highly recommend the first two fics in this series for different reasons. “The Reverb in These Holy Halls” is a great time travel fic that takes some really interesting turns by the end and unlike most fics actually has Jon try to keep Tim safe by keeping him out of the Archives pre-S1. However “Gossip” I recommend if you enjoy those fics formatted to look like official communication of some kind. It’s got people outside the Archives trying to figure out what’s wrong with them during the events of the first fic, and while it would be very confusing to read without the first fic, I’d almost say it’s worth it if you aren’t feeling the tags on the first one. Really fun and entertaining, you can’t go wrong with either one.
The Triumph of Galatea (for Acis is transformed) by TheOestofOCs
Statement of Hazel Rutter.
Jon couldn’t stop reading.
The Fears, however, are a bit more powerful than Jonah gave them credit for. Jon opens the door, but the world can’t hold what’s on the other side.
Time falls through, instead. Past becomes present, and the future is undone.
Statement begins.
Another fic I definitely recommended back at episode 160, but is well worth the second recommendation and/or re-read. Time Travel, but what if Jon could control as well as go into the dreams of the assistants/other Eye aligned people instead of just his victims’ dreams? Very good, even if unfinished, though the author seems likely to finish someday. Check out their other work as well, it’s all very good and has my fave Circus themed fic written to date.
a map of what matters most by gruhukens
“Is that a body,” Tim blurts before he can stop himself, rising to his feet. Martin looks, if possible, even more scared.
“He’s alive!” he hisses, almost defensively. “It’s not - it’s not Gertrude again, I didn’t kill him, he just – I don’t know what happened to him, I just found him in the stacks like this.”
“And you dragged him up here?” Tim says, and then registers several things at once – the build, the hair texture; the little round scars peppering a pair of thin hands and an awfully familiar face. “Wait, is that Jon?”
----
Jon stumbles back into an earlier Archive, looking for a way to fix the world. (Or, mom says it's my turn for the obligatory time travel au)
Directly inspired by CirrusGrey’s fic that I recommended earlier, this is another: Jon travels physically into the past fic. This one though is far more bittersweet than “Yesterday is Here”, but still an excellent read and does a great job at fleshing out the relationships between all the characters.
Saving the Universe: For Dummies by GhostChoir
Finding a man bleeding out in the alleyway was not what Elias wanted to do today. And he certainly didn’t mean to befriend him. But things never did go how he expected.
****** A Post-MAG200 Jon meets a 1970s Elias, an Elias from before he was corrupted by Jonah. Together, the two of them learn to cope with grief, drink more tea than any two people should be able to consume, and commiserate over shitty bosses. Oh, and just for the hell of it, they stop an apocalypse along the way.
Now for a change of pace: What if Jon time travels to the time of early Gertrude and Elias pre-Jonafying? A very good fic is what! While it’s been awhile since I read this, I do remember it’s quite good and deserves a chance. Note: this is NOT Jonathan/Elias, so my apologies if you were looking for that, but it is two very lonely men getting to just have a reliable friend in times of trouble.
A Little Game of Cat and Mouse by Paptato
“Jonah Magnus.” The cloudy silhouette snarled as it’s hand clamped tightly around Jonah's ascot. That was indeed his name, but Jonah couldn’t begin to fathom what he did to have it spat out with such hatred.
But nonetheless, Jonah was a gentleman and he would kindly address the angry figure as politely as possible, “Yes, and you are?”
“What?” The form spluttered as it slowly came into focus. Ah, yes. That probably wasn’t the proper response to being held at gunpoint by a random stranger. Must have been the blow to his head.
(Or in which Jonathan Sims goes back in time and tries to pull a Terminator, but fails and Jonah Magnus finds a new mystery to solve.)
This is that Jonah Magnus/Jonathan Sims enemies to lovers fic your friends warn you about in a good way. It’s not done, but I think it’s still being updated very slowly. Even if all I ever read is the currently released 11 chapters, I will consider it my one exception to my dislike of Jonah/Jon. As you can probably guess by the description, it’s a time travel fix it where Jon gets shunted back in time to when Jonah was still very human and still trying to figure out the Fears. The Web keeps Jon from explaining his circumstances or anything to do with Jonah’s future in particular, but this is a good thing and they both get to learn how to be more human in a world that previously was very antagonistic to those goals. It’s got a heavy dose of comedy, plenty of romantic tension, and lots of both surprising and unsurprising cameos. If you enjoy Dracula Daily, you’ll probably enjoy this imho.
Déjà Vu by CirrusGrey
Sasha remembers being unmade. Tim remembers being Unknown. Jon and Martin remember being unwound. All of them think they're the only one. -------- The S1 crew wakes up in the past with memories up till the moment they died.
So, here’s another one that’s got quite the spin on it. As you can see from the description, this one is where S1 crew all get their minds sent back in time to the time right around Jon’s first statement if I remember right. Another CirrusGrey fic, so it heavily leans on JonMartin, but otherwise it’s a wonderful exploration of the four S1 characters and ends on a very hopeful note!
oh my darling, just a moment of your time by IceEckos12
The Institute is visited by a pair of time travelers, and Jon has an important question for Tim.
Have you ever had a oneshot that just kinda guts you unexpectedly? While this might not do this for everyone, this is an amazing oneshot that gets right the point. I love it a lot, because of all of the fics where future and past meet each other, it very rarely if ever is addressed that past Jon was a douche. Or well it is but past Jon doesn’t necessarily have a character moment from it. Here he does, and despite the briefness of the fic, the author does an amazing job of giving Jon and Tim a moment while making an almost critique of the TMA time travel genre. Highly, highly recommend, and it won’t overstay it’s welcome if it doesn’t end up being your thing.
The Severing of Webs by chlodobird
After Jon kills the world, he travels back in time. Once there, he gets ready to change the future, to save his Assistants, and to watch as everyone learns to hate him again.
Unfortunately, the tapes wrap around him like a fly caught in a Web—he can't move. He's trapped reliving the original timeline, stuck acting out his past actions like an actor rehearsing his lines.
Sasha will die. Tim will die. Martin—
(Jon screams inside his mind, and someone hears him. Fate is not as immutable as he fears.)
This one is a brand new one! While basically all of the others on the list have been out/updating for over a year at this point; this lengthy oneshot just released this month. tbh, very excellent, which is why it has made the list. Also, quite the twist on the usual premise, where being sent back into his head is actually a bad thing this time. Ends with a giant pile of fluff, but who would I be if all my time travel recommendations were not also fix-its?

Somewhere Else
it will be this, always by bluejayblueskies
Jon coughed again, and blood stained his lips and blood stained Martin’s hands where they pressed against Jon’s back and blood stained the floor beneath them and help, they needed help.
Martin doesn’t remember shouting. He barely remembers the faces that had surrounded them, wide-eyed and terrified, all utterly unfamiliar.
.
Jon and Martin wake up somewhere else. Jon begins a slow path toward physical recovery, and several important, long-put-off conversations are had as they begin to navigate a new world that they hadn’t thought they’d be alive to see.
So, I’m sure you all have gathered that I have qualms with how much disparity there is between canon and fanon Jmart. This fic is painful, but is the most in character depiction of post 200 JMart fallout I have ever read. The ending is very cathartic, and takes a “realistic” approach to what happens to Jon and Martin as they begin to navigate their relationship after they both had betrayed each other so thoroughly in the leadup and culmination of MAG 200. If you don’t want them immediately making up, this is the fic for you. They get there, but by all that is good do they take their sweet time getting there.
Out There, Somewhere by Artyphex
"I'm sorry, you were found alone."
Jon survived the apocalypse and now will go to the end of this new, unfamiliar world to find Martin again.
So I think I’m just getting all the angsty ones out of the way first lol. Another slow burn, this fic is Jon’s recovery in the new reality while he also searches for what happened to Martin. Since I don’t post the tags, I will say this ones does feature “Eventual Happy Ending”, and I do promise that both Jon and Martin made it to the new reality and lived. But Jon and Martin both get to pine and cope for a while before that happy ending tag comes into play. It’s incredibly well done and explores their characters really well. Personally, I kinda enjoyed the Reddit saga because people mistaking Jon’s pleas for Martin as an ARG is very typical internet and 100% I would have bought into that at age 13.
Of course I need a therapist. I need ten therapists, working round the clock building me a bionic coping mechanism. We have the technology. by MartinKBlackwoodESQ
A story set somewhere else.
I’mma be real with you all, if I believed that characters could write and publish their own fanfiction, I would be halfway convinced the name is accurate. All joking aside however, this is a “crack treated seriously” fic but with characterization so on point I can consistently hear the voice actors when I read this. Admittedly, it’s made easier by it being written in transcript formatting, but if you’re looking for a hilarious time where TMA is suddenly is turned into a buddy cop adventure where Jon and Martin go to a universe where the Fears hadn’t been till their arrival, and they have doubles that already exist there who are living fairly normal lives till the TMA Jon and Martin crash land into their reality... Well this fic is one I cannot recommend highly enough. It also has a sequel, and it is also well worth the read, even if it appears to be on a bit of a break in it’s updates.
Worlds like phyllo pastry by neworld
After episode 200 Jon finds himself alone in a world very much like the one he left but fractionally different. It's so similar he finds versions of his former friends existing happily in the world. Unfortunately they have never met him in this universe and have no idea who he is.
This one’s unfinished, but personally it’s well worth the read as is. Not sure how I feel about the most recent chapter, but the story up till that point is a really fun spin on “Jon and Martin get shunted to a new reality” where Jon learns how to feed in a way that doesn’t cause problems facilitated by the new reality, and re-meets all the people who he lost till this point and has a very silly antagonistic relationship with his alternate self. While fic might be more of a guilty pleasure, it still is written in such a way that I would rank it high enough for this disorganized list.
Death Is The Easy Way Out by traveller19
After having killed Jonah Magnus and ended the Change, Jon and Martin should finally be able to rest. Rest, however, proves impossible when Jon falls ill. What's more, he begins having vivid dreams of their dead friends - Tim, trapped in the destroyed Archives, and Sasha, trapped outside of them. As Jon's condition quickly worsens and the line between dream and reality begins to blur, love is all he and Martin have to hold on to, because hope is a dangerous thing.
Did someone say sickfic??? But for real, this fic has an amazing balance between an A plot and a B plot, and keeps both at the right level of tension throughout. While this is a sickfic heavy one, it also features Tim and Sasha as ghosts trying desperately not to be. There’s also a lovely sequel and plenty of fluff by the end, but this is a rough ride. ALSO, if you or a loved one had covid / any respiratory illness that caused them to be hospitalized with pneumonia and it could be trigging to read incredibly on the nose descriptions of that experience, this fic is not for you. Or very cathartic. :/
Castaways by CirrusGrey
Welcome to the Castaway Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe and secure landing to those lost souls banished from their home worlds by the influence of Fear.
If you wanted saccharine JMart in a new reality where they get therapy and meet old friends from different realities, this series of (mostly) one shots is for you! As you’ve probably come to expect when I suggest CirrusGrey, the writing is fantastic, the ship dynamics are exemplary, and the character are on point. There is so much to say about this series, but mostly, if you want Jon and Martin healing and then settling together and becoming the stereotypical married couple, then this is it. It’s not done, but it is wrapping up, and I hope you all if you haven’t seen this yet enjoy it as much as I do. And for those long time readers who have been reading it longer than I’ve been in the fandom, here’s your friendly reminder that it exists.
Do Before I Die by SupposedToBeWriting
Somewhere Else, Jon can't seem to shake the strange apathy that now plagues his life. Everything reminds Martin of the end of the world. For a change of pace, he and Martin rent a campervan and go on a road trip. Their mission? To fulfill the 'bucket list' Martin made when he was eighteen and lonely. Jon's looking forward to the beach.
Jon and Martin go on a Road Trip accross Britain. It’s just a wholesome and hurt/comfort as it describes. An excellent romp, and the character studies are wonderful. The Planetarium still sticks with me.
ours is a distant shore (series) by pantsoflobster
“If they ever found out about us, we could make things really complicated for them," Jon said. Martin gave a thoughtful hum and then a loaded pause before he said, “Or simpler.” “What?” “We could, you know…” Martin then made mischievous eyes at him in lieu of expanding. “What?” Jon said, thoroughly lost. “Wouldn’t it be a bit fun to sort of... nudge them in the right direction?”
Months after they arrive Somewhere Else, Jon sees himself in the shop.
Summary is from the first fic in the series, this is a fun little romp for those who hated Martin’s defeatism over his and Jon’s relationship in MAG199 and want to see what would happen if instead he accidentally kick started an alternate version and his and Jon’s relationship Somewhere Else. It’s all very silly, tho the last fic does lean more into the hurt/comfort tag than the previous two. Over all though, if you’re looking for a little crack, a lot of fluff, and Jon and Martin being silly this is a good time.
Written in the Stars Will Have to Do by GentlemanCrow
“Yeah well, god knows why, but he thinks you hung the moon, so you might try treating him at the very least like a human being once in a while.”
It was such a small thing. Small words for a small feeling cloaked in a chintzy veneer of idiomatic dismissal. A trembling little bird cupped in his scarred and battered hands and smothered. Or so he thought. Sometimes trembling little birds turn out to be phoenixes, and those who looked to someone else to hang the comfort of a wise, silvery moon in the sky already have the hammer and the picture wire at the ready.
As far as Jon was concerned, the moon only rose on their Somewhere Else because Martin deigned to pull the strings every night, not him.
This is another one of those JMart Somewhere Else fics masquerading as a Safehouse fic that made me want to cry. It’s just, so wonderful, and once again we have themes of healing, but this time through getting a hobby and sharing it with your significant other. The writing is lovely and really gives off the stuffy academic musings I would expect being in Jon’s head (which we are for the duration of this fic) but adds a layer that I didn’t realized I needed till I read it.
On Errantry by ZaliaChimera
Somewhere Else, Jon and Martin discover that their new home has a very special sort of guardian, and Jon seeks judgement from an unexpected source.
They do say that cats purring can heal...
A cute one shot that deals with Jon’s lingering guilt from S5; this is a wonderful tale from Somewhere Else featuring a giant Cat, Martin being supportive, and Jon trying to reconcile his second chance. Very sweet and fluffy, guaranteed!
Lost, Unfound, But Not Forgotten by Elynn
They didn’t find bodies. Or anything pointing to where they may have gone. In the center of the rubble, what Georgie assumed to have once been the top of the tower, was a puddle of dried, crusted blood, and the outline of bodies in the dust and scorch marks. And she knew that wherever the Fears had gone, Jon and Martin had gone with them. The last victims, snuffed and dragged away with them. --- In the weeks after the Eye-pocolypse, Georgie Barker begins the painful process of mourning her best friend.
So, I know I’m very focused on Jon, but I have one fic of Georgie here that’s 10/10. Post 200, Georgie and Melanie eventually goes to clean out Daisy’s cabin of Jon and Martin’s things for Basira (or something like that) and Georgie finds a journal of Jon’s that he kept whilst there. It’s just as bittersweet as you’d imagine, but it’s fantastically cathartic to read and in our MAG 200 feels, this is a good one for closure.
Not Quite Somewhere Else by hawkfurze
Or you can find it on Tumblr HERE
A special entry to finish out this section, I have a long running comic from Tumblr user @hawkfurze who made a TMA x Infinity Train crossover. While I had not watched the show previously (only seen the trailer/pilot from back before it got picked up by CN), the comic is still easy to understand and explains the Infinity Train parts in such a way as to not need any prior knowledge. I highly recommend this comic for anyone who wants a visual treat delving into the relationship and psyches of Jon and Martin as they try to escape into the next reality.

Two Graves by SupposedToBeWriting
Jon sends the fears far from Earth and flees London, leaving the others to assume the worst. He settles in a small village and opts to live there quietly until he dies, a self-imposed penance. This plan is foiled when the first former Avatar shows up - and Jon realizes that every domain-keeper in the apocalypse still has some faint connection to him.
After a year of being a shoulder to cry on for confused and distraught former Avatars, Jon leads a moderately happy life. He has a flourishing garden, a cat, and some company. All of that comes crashing around his ears (or his head) when a familiar face shows up to his cabin, demanding answers.
This fic is in my top 5 fics of TMA fandom. No contest. It has some of the best healing from MAG 200 for Jon and Martin and tbh the world I’ve seen. It’s got that incredible hurt/comfort and the ending makes me cry tears of joy every time I read it. If you read any JMart fic on this list, please read this one if you can only read one. While I was tempted to put this in a different category, this seemed like the best place to put it.
What Comes After by Mornrandir
More than a year after the apocalypse, the world is starting to move on. Georgie, Melanie, and Basira have learned to move on and get back to living their lives. Then Martin reappears- without Jon- and they have to learn to begin again.
A series based around the initial above description, each entry in the series follows the healing of first Martin, then Jon, then both of them together. While I am a Jon-centric woman, if you are of a more Martin-centric leaning, this first fic in the series should scratch that itch. The final entry is very sweet, and the second definitely has a unique reason as to why Jon shows up so late to the after-Fears party.
The Watcher’s Cows by lenioia
He still remembers the first cup of tea Martin brought him. That’s where it began, not with the dog incident. A sweet and strong blend, reasons for appearance unknown, how could it taste so good, also unknown. Jon stares at what will be the last cup between them. His miserable parting gift. Where it’ll end.
Alt Mag 200, or in a slightly kinder universe which differs by exactly one cup of tea, Martin is the one who switches plan last minute, and Jon’s last half-backed scheme, for once, works.
An AU splitting off MAG 199/200, where Jon’s plan actually happens, but instead of it being quite so bleak he finds a new path with the help of Martin. I know the original ending of the series is probably the most hopeful one realistically, but we all enjoy our fixits here, so this is a really sappy “by the power of love” Jon and Martin save the universe and still get to live in it AU. Highly highly recommend, and it finished within the last 8 months, so it’s “on the newer side” as it were. If you haven’t read it, give it a shot, and if you’ve read it and it’s been awhile now’s a good time to read it again.
The Eyespot Chronicles (series) by SupposedToBeWriting
To Martin Blackwood's surprise, he wakes up in the ruins of the Magnus Institute. He thought he would be dead. The world is back to normal, the Entities are gone, and everyone realizes that it's finally over. The only sticking point is that Jon isn't exactly the Jon that went into the apocalypse. Never one to give up, Martin is determined to make a life for himself and his boyfriend. Even if he is a giant moth.
Summary taken from the first in the series, this trilogy of fics covers Jon and Martin’s attempts at healing in a world that remembers what happened. The first fic focuses entirely on Martin’s struggles, the second on Jon’s, and the 3rd (as you might guess) focuses on them both. The series is excellent, and if you’ve got the fortitude for canon-typical emotional constipation after having just experienced MAG-200 it’s well worth the read.
Another Guest for Mr. Spider by Dribbledscribbles
Jon isn't eating his statements like he should.
Mr. Spider doesn't like it.
Written in transcript format, this AU considers the idea of what if the Web was more hands on it it’s approach to getting Jon to Become more monstrous; or at least not starve himself out. Incredible read, you need an AO3 account though. But I have never been that spooked by a Statement or encounter before I read this fic. If you DO NOT like spiders on you or in your mouth and you don’t like reading about it either, potentially hold off on this fic, or at least skip from where Mr. Spider says “Open your mouth. Do not move.” to when he says “Wash it down with this. Now.” But yeah if you didn’t get enough spider trauma from canon, this fic gives it in spades! (And if you want Mr. Spider getting his comeuppance, you get that too ;) )

A long form AU of what if Gerry Keay was brought back by the Eye to convince Jon to stay on team Monster if you will. Goes all the way through MAG-200, has some great twists and turns, and manages to turn into an “Everyone Lives AU” as well. While it is currently updating, it’s updating every week on Saturday till it finishes, and she only has 2 chapters left. If you’ve managed to never read this, now is certainly the time for it! It is Jon/Gerry/Martin, so if that’s not your exact cup of tea I’d still say give it a shot.

Right, I don’t tend to read chat fics, I’m going to be honest with you all. I have two exceptions and this is one of them. It goes interesting places, the characters are not completely OOC, if it they are at least it’s consistent OOC and not in a grating way. But in all seriousness, I recommend this because of how it ties in with MAG 160 and 200; as well as how the sequel deals with canon S5. The sequel isn’t finished and is slow to update, but I am still recommending at the very least the first one. It’s a good romp and I highly recommend.
Ask an Exec: How to Navigate Cultish Colleagues, Soul-Stealing Bosses, and the End of the World at Work by shinyopals
I've recently been unexpectedly promoted to lead a department in my organisation, wrote the anonymous emailer.
As there was no one working here when I arrived, my manager, who is head of the organisation, had promised me the choice of my own assistants. However, without warning, he simply presented me with an additional assistant. This new assistant’s first act on his first day was to let a dog into the office. It took several hours to catch and clean up after this dog and it has only been downhill from there. I admit I'm not entirely sure what to do with this assistant now I'm stuck with him. I'm hoping you have some advice?

While this isn’t quite an AU and is basically canon compliant, I’m putting it here because it’s a “what if Jon was an avid seeker of advice on a management advice blog?” AU. It’s beautifully formatted, and features very in character interactions. If you are a sucker for the TMA trope: how do normal people react to the weirdness at the Institute, then this is a great fic for you. I know it’s probably one of the most popular things to have hit the Jonathan Sims tag on AO3 in recent months, but this is just me reminding you all it exists and well worth the re-read.
JMart Fluff
Author CirrusGrey
Literally anything by them. I think I probably recommend them every time I talk about JMart, but I think on AO3 they are both the most prolific and one of the best writers for the tag. Pick almost any fic they’ve written for TMA and it’s probably JMart. There’s too many fics of their’s to recommend, so I’ll just link you straight to their profile and you can go swimming from there lol.
Jon’s Moving Castle by IceEckos12
Martin Blackwood may not have a perfect life, but he does have a good one. That is, until a series of magical encounters leave him with an unfortunate curse. Out of other options, he goes to the wizard who lives in the moving castle for aid.
Life never goes how he intends it to, though.
Basically Howl’s Moving Castle, but with a TMA spin. You don’t need to have seen the movie to understand what’s going on, and honestly while it sticks fairly close to the movie, it doesn’t stick so close that it feels constrained by it in places where it wouldn’t make sense in the AU they’ve set up. It’s a very sweet JMart fic with a satisfying conclusion.
The 101 Kidnappings of Jonathan Sims (and Other Inconveniences) by beetlejoos
Martin Blackwood never applies for a job at the Magnus Institute. The universe seems determined that he meets Jonathan Sims anyway. But is it Fate, or something more sinister, that keeps bringing the two of them together?
Right, this mostly crack treated seriously. It’s got hurt/comfort, but it’s fairly light hearted throughout. As one could guess by the title and description, Jon is repeatedly kidnapped and brought to wherever Martin is living/working at the time. While it’s not done yet, and not on a schedule, the chapters that are out thus far are well worth the read. That and there’s some cute fan art for it that’s linked to in the end notes. But I recommend this because it’s got that vibe of S1 Jon meets S1 Martin outside of the Institute and romance (eventually) happens. Very fun read if you haven’t read it yet.
i think we’re alone now + alone-verse (series) by milliganopen
Just a couple of guys breaking into a basement. What could go wrong?
Getting trapped in your apartment with your boss, that's what.
Season 1 re-imagined if Jon and Martin had been trapped by Jane Prentiss together.
Initially I recommended this back when we had hit MAG039/022 because it was a great AU to Martin’s Statement where Jon also gets trapped in Martin’s apartment during Martin’s no good very bad 2 weeks of worm siege. HOWEVER, the author has since continued this series and is slowly working their way through canon one season/fic at a time. They’re currently on S3, and I am definitely keeping an eye on it for whenever the next update happens. If you haven’t had the time to check it out, it’s got some very good JMart moments, and their relationship manages to move faster than a glacier.
Fate, or Something by HermaeusMora
"You can't be serious." Jonathan Sims raises his eyes at last to properly look at Georgie, expecting her to laugh and make some quip about finally getting him to put the damn book down, at least.
"Well, I am," she shoots back.
He sets his book aside and turns fully towards her, betrayal clear on his face. "A blind date, really?"
Jon makes the frankly terrible decision to go on a blind date with one Martin Blackwood. Fate ensues. AU where Jon and Georgie are still friends, Georgie likes finding dates for her friends, Martin doesn't work at the institute, and everyone is just a bit happier while canon spooky stuff goes on in the background. Takes place juuust barely pre-canon in the beginning but catches up quickly. Inspired as usual by the wonderful conversations with my friend RavenXavier/somuchbetterthanthat.
A fun AU that challenges the idea that Jon and Martin are incompatible a la MAG199. Excellently done and well worth the time to check it out.
Diary by luftballoons99
Not for the first time since they ran away together, a camera reel of all the things they don't know about one another whirs behind Martin's eyes, and he can't help but look at all the sprawling magnetic tape and wonder if they’re going to wind up a romance or a tragedy.
or: Office parties, garage bands, and the joy of being known.
A bit of a bittersweet mostly fluff oneshot focused on Jon and Martin having a night in at the Safehouse and talking about good things from their pasts. (Warning, the sequel is rated E(xplicit) for a reason, so I am only recommending Diary. Both are stand alone however.)
Weaving My Heartstrings by arms_full_of_hyacinths
At least he was someone. Someone who could deal with the spiders. That was probably the source of the nerves unspooling like magnetic tape to fill Jon’s stomach with buzzing static butterflies.
Yes, Martin was much bigger than a spider. He was probably the kind of person who cupped them in his hands and talked to them as he walked them out into the garden, which shouldn’t be giving Jon a burst of warm feeling at all, since his preferred method of spider disposal was simply to squash them on sight.
Martin likes Jon almost as much as Jon hates spiders. When a statement from an institute employee sends them spiraling into the center of a complicated web, they'll need to rely on each other if they want to make it out alive.
Bit of an odd suggestion to close us out, but this one is a fun almost episodic plot about an original Statement and the shenanigans Jon and Martin get into trying to research it. It’s very good, features some very on point S1 Jon and Martin along with a bit of a fast forward on their relationship throughout.
And with that, I’ve probably overstayed my welcome lol. I hope you found something new to read! If not, I at least hope that you had fun rereading some old faves. This has taken me a day or two to compile and format, so I hope you all enjoy in whatever capacity that ends up being! Happy end of A Mag A Day, and it was a joy walking alongside you all. Congrats to A MAG A Day blog owners on all your hard work for the last ~210 days and with this post I wish you all a very fond farewell.

Hi. I’ve been on this hellsite for years and I’m deciding to make an introduction post now—mostly just as a place to add links to my writing.
You can call me Crimson. I’m 30+ years old.
My Fandoms: TMA, Hazbin Hotel
My Comfort Characters: Michael Shelley, Gerry Keay, Tim Stoker, Mike Crew, Alastor.
My OCs: Rhyannon Shelley & Lindsey Fairchild
TMA Drabbles
Will consist of one shot crossovers in multiple fandoms, snippets into my AU, and just looks at characters if they were taken by other Fears.
[More below, I just didn’t want to make this post super super long. Lol]
The TMA Series I constantly talk about:
A Second Chance: (Don’t Fuck it Up)
Jon gets a second chance and he tries to fix things but things go wildly out of balance, due to things he tries to counter and other things out of his control.
Boatswain’s Daughter (working title, subject to change)
MTF Michael gets sacrificed to the Spiral and finds herself in the Lonely instead.
You’re Beautiful (Don’t Sell Yourself Short) [Part One]
Tim wakes up and it seems things are good. He doesn’t understand what’s going on until deja vu hits and events start repeating themselves.
Twins Lonely and Spiral
A closer look into Michael and Rhyannon if they had been born as twins.
You’ve Been Compromised (Don’t Compromise Yourself)
Featuring Avatar of the Dark Jon
Multiverse shenanigans ensue
There is plot, I promise.
Jon doesn’t understand what’s going on until he finds he can hop bodies like Rayner, but it’s definitely not like Rayner.
Friends Forever (Friends till the End)
A look into Jon and Tim’s friendship in other dimensions.
You’re Beautiful (Don’t Sell Yourself Short)
Jon and others find themselves physically in a different universe, but events are very different from how Jon remembers them. Maybe this time they can save the world.

Ok fuck cannon for both series mech tma au
Also mech Martin as a treat
"W-wait." Jonny stopped holding up his hand before Nastya could set the dimension hop.
"The great Jonny d'Ville stuttering? Never thought I would see the day." Nastya rolls her eyes. "What's wrong? You want to get Martin, right?"
"I..." Jonny sighs and looks at Tim and then back to the rest of the crew and eventually Nastya. He fishes out a pair of glasses from his pocket.
"Smarts Jonny." Ivy raised her brow.
Jonny sighs and crosses his arms. "Tim and I have other versions of ourselves in that universe."
"So?" Raphaella quirks her brow. "Extra parts to experiment with."
"Not exactly." Jonny takes a breath. "Any universe or reality doesn't like copies and to remedy that well... we won't be able to stay here." He starts to motion his hands as his tail starts to lash back and forth. "The reality has a way to correct this, and that is to physically fuse myself with my alter, and the same will happen to Tim. I literally have no idea what that will even do."
Brian tilts his head. "So what you're saying that that there is a chance you'll both dissapear?"
"Not exactly, but kind of." Jonny shrugs, removing his glasses. "Eh, it's whatever just wanted to warn you fucks. Tim and I agreed to go through it. We all were already fucked around with the promise of actual death and waking up before, and who knows Martin's world goes through a literal apocalypse so that will be fun."
Tim nods. "We both have bets going on about how it works. I also get to go to a less advanced version of where I'm from. I really want to see what's that like. Also, I saved Bertie, and he got a long life, so I'm honestly fine with a true death."
Raphaella looks at both of them. "If both of you truly die, can I do an autopsy of your bodies to see what came over?"
"Why the fuck not? I don't give a shit I'll be dead." Jonny hums and raises a brow at Ashes. "What?"
"You'll be human." Ashes motions vaguely to his obvious status as not human.
"Huh." Jonny scratches his stubble. "I'll miss my tail if I remember any of it."
Tim snickers. "I'll be fine."
Ivy smirks. "What if your alternate has short hair?" She pauses. "Also, I want earth books."
"I have a new fear." Tim sighs.
Nastya pauses. "Are you sure?"
TS smiles. "I Think They Already Agreed. Bring Me Back A Earth Cat."
"You heard them let's fucking go." Jonny reached out and grabs Tim's hand. "I ain't living for the rest of time without Blackwood."
"Neither I am." Tim nods. "All speed ahead."
Nastya sighs. "This is a terrible idea, but if both of you still remain, I suppose stopping the apocalypse would please Aurora..... oh hmmmm." She puts the ship full throttle, and in an instant, Jonny and Tim vanish.
......
Martin woke up on his back, which honestly is the weirdest way he could wake up second to the alarm on his... he knew the word for the thing, but he couldn't recall it. He barely fumbled to turn off that obnoxious noise. What was a much more pressing manner was the fact his body was wrong, well correct but that was wrong. He can't recall when he had normal legs and feet... he could, but he would much rather forget the time before the good doctor got her hands on him. He was abnormal for a mechanism since his mechanism was organic in nature his lower half was that of a spider. Of course, he didn't hate it he wanted something different after that.
Ok, at the time, he thought himself a monster and tried to kill himself a multitude of times. He grew out of it. Obviously, it would have been a bleak eternity otherwise. He had a vague feeling of where he was, but the word peaches and worms came to mind. He kind of knew what that meant, but he was more so annoyed that this afterlife was basically before he became a mech. He had to figure out what he was doing.
Maybe if he went too... uh oh right the Magnus Institute, that's when he worked a normal job on earth. This was earth he hoped it wasn't in his head that this was some elaborate death dream because that would be a first. He should try to recall more of this if he is ever going to get through this weird afterlife. He hoped it was an afterlife because if not it meant that he wasn't dead, and he didn't want to do that without Jonny and Gunpowder Tim, and of course, the rest of the crew.
He got showered after figuring out the old-fashioned shower and got dressed in familiar clothes he didn't want to remember. He knew he had to remember, but he really didn't want to. He knew how this world worked. Public transport was easy, and soon, he arrived at the very institute that set everything in motion. What's that saying like a hover bike? Or a bicycle? He will remember what to do and go through the motions.
"You're late." A pretentious pompous voice sneered at Martin.
Martin paused, staring at the man studying him, and he reminded him of Jonny, and a name spilled from his lips. "Jon?"
"Did you hit your head on your way here? Of course I'm Jon." The short man shoved a stack of papers in his arms. "Get through these and try not to fall behind."
Martin frowns and takes the stack of statements. He knew they were statements. Some real some fake, and he had an unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach that this wasn't the afterlife. He sat at his desk and stared at a computer, which he didn't recall the password for, and just started to read. He couldn't think about who he saw by him.
"Geez Marto, you ok?" That was Tim, not gunpowder, but Stoker. He was rubbing his eyes, but it was still him.
Martin knew the moment he saw her not corrupted by a thing that wore her skin poorly he might add he knew he wasn't in the afterlife and his death was a fucking lie. He wanted his final death with the rest of them. Did they also wake up before they became? Before the doctor got a hold of them? He takes a breath and sighs. "I'm fine." He forced himself to say. He noticed Tim was bleeding around his eyes. He chose to get up and wet some napkins to help.
"Tim, you really should see a doctor for that." Sasha frowns.
"I'm fine it's probably from my contacts. I'll wear my glasses, and the problem should clear up." Tim gives finger guns as his eyes water.
Martin sighs. "Tim, you're crying."
"Not emotionally." Tim snickers at his joke. "I'm fine. I probably just need rest and to get new contacts." His eyes stop watering after a moment, but it doesn't stop him from rubbing them like they ached.
Martin wasn't convinced, but he knew better than to push it normally got him shot or someone crying in his arms. He knew that didn't matter here. This place wasn't.... he wasn't home. "I'll make some tea for everyone."
"Thank you, Martin." Tim smiles as he rubs his eyes.
"Amazing as always." Sasha smiles.
Martin nodded and distracted himself with making tea. It didn't last long enough as he gave out the tea. He stepped into Jon's office, and he raised a brow at the scene he walked into. Jon was sitting on his knees in a chair not built for that position. "I made you some tea."
Jon nods, rubbing at his chest. "Right."
Martin paused and decided to push his luck. "Why are you sitting like that?"
Jon scowls and takes his mug of tea, and takes a sip. "My lower back aches, and it is worse if I sit normally. My painkillers haven't kicked in."
"Ah, alright, just be careful, alright." Martin smiles, hoping he was acting enough like he did before.
.....
Tim groans as he stares at the bottle of eye drops the doctor gave him. It did literally nothing. His eyes ached and burned, and no matter what he did, the pain wouldn't go away. It's been two weeks, and it's only gotten worse, and he hasn't been able to do anything to relieve it.
He used the heels of his hand and pressed them into his eyes for any sort of relief that wouldn't come. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong and called him basically crazy because there was nothing wrong with his eyes. He knew something was wrong. He knew something was happening.
Tim was desperate. If the eye pain wasn't enough, he was starting to have weird dreams of a man with mechanical eyes. They would talk, and Gunpowder, the other guy picked that name. Don't ask him why it suited him. The memories... no dreams, he keeps having to correct himself. The dreams Gunpowder tells him are his memories, and he apologizes for them all the time. At one point, these memories became his own, but the only thing it did was make Gunpowder more solid in his mind.
Tim liked Gunpowder he was kind and a bit odd, but he didn't feel alone. He hasn't felt seen or known since his brother. Fuck he really missed Danny.
"You have his memories."
Tim nearly fell backward. That was Gunpowder, but he was awake if the pain was anything to say about that. His eyes scanned the small bathroom, searching for the source of the voice, but he didn't see anything. Maybe he was hearing things. The statements were probably getting to him.
Tim sighs and shuts the lights off, and heads to the couch. He just needed to sleep, that's all. Sleep came quickly these days, and he woke up not in Gunpowder's memories but to a futuristic bedroom. He knew this place from some more steamy memories from Gunpowder. Speaking of him, he was lounging in the bed holding a bottle that no longer had labels.
Gunpowder flicked his mechanical eyes to glance at Tim. His long hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and a pair of goggles was around his neck. He held up the bottle. "Shit doesn't do much in here but wants some?"
Tim shook his head as he approached and sat on the edge of the bed. "Did you say something?"
"When you started to spiral? Yeah." Gunpowder sits up, putting the bottle aside. "I'm not as well versed in this theoretical nonesense as Jonny is, but I think it's almost complete." He reached his hand out, and Tim allowed him to grab it. "Soon we'll be together awake and asleep, probably when my eyes finally form. Again, sorry about the pain."
"I don't think I'm able to believe you." Tim had that sinking feeling of dread that he knew Gunpowder was right. "Why?"
"We wanted to save our third to complete us." Gunpowder pulls his hand away. "Eternity isn't great when you're missing someone that helps complete you. We were also promised an apocalypse, and that did sound fun."
"Love is a good reason." Tim wanted to reach out again but refrained. "So would you be able to take over like a ghost?"
Gunpowder laughs. "I ain't no ghost, but maybe again, Jonny knows more about this bullshit than I do."
Tim nods and gets up approaching the door.
"Are you sure?"
"If what you say is true, I might as well know more about you." Tim opened the door and vanished into memories that weren't his own.
Gunpowder picked the bottle up again and sighed. "I wonder if Jonny is having a good time."
.....
Jon felt even worse, he however did not go to the doctor even at Martin insistent, he was acting odd more so than normal, and it made his work even worse. He stripped off his shirt and pants, then finally his binder and groans. The red spot on his lower back right on his tailbone he could pass off as bug bite, now ballooned into a throbbing red mass that was completely solid to the touch.
He really wanted to keep ignoring it, but he felt something move under his skin, and it scared him half to death. Every part of him felt wrong, to his privates they were extra sensitive more so then when he started T to his ears that were bright red and painful, to his head that he can feel growing bumps on his head. The worst of it was his chest, his heart was constantly beating erratically, and he could swear he heard a ticking like a metronome in his chest. Everything was wrong, and yet he just crawled into his bed.
No to Jon, the worst part were these dreams that were nothing but fiction, and this Jonny character was a idiot, a violent obnoxious idiot. Jonny talked to him. He purposely argued with him and teased him. That ass was crude and didn't have a fucking care in the world the complete opposite of himself. He was some vile creature that probably spawned from the statements he read.
Jon bit down on his pillow, he moved wrong, and his sensitive privates sent nerves and sparks through his body. He was asexual he shouldn't have these desires, and he shouldn't be thinking about his coworkers in this matter. Why the fuck was Martin a spider creature it scared him but also thrilled him and he hated these thoughts. Tim was mostly the same, but his hair was long, and his eyes were machines. He blamed Jonny for all of this. But he wasn't real his mind just wanted someone to blame.
That obnoxious crazed laughter rang in Jon's ears. He groaned, spitting out his pillow. "Leave me alone, you annoying hallucination." That only earned him harder laughter. He gave a frustrated yell into his pillow. He refused to listen to the just jerk off from Jonny and grabbed sleeping pills from his draw, and hoped for a dreamless sleep, which he knew was futile. He kept seeing memories that weren't his of some nonesense syfy fan wet dream. Jonny wasn't real, and what he saw wasn't real either.
.......
Sasha moved closer to Tim. "Eyes still bothering you?" She motions to his the dark sunglasses you couldn't see his eyes through.
Tim nods. "Yeah, doctors aren't helping. They feel like they're going to pop." He sighs. "Do you know what's up with boss man?"
Sasha shrugs. "I was going to ask about Martin. He seems more lost than normal, and he seems less jumpy but even more depressed? I don't know he keeps avoiding me every time I try to press."
"I can talk to him if you talk to Jon about his attitude. I watched him yell at Martin first 10 minutes, and Martin just took it with a smile like he didn't care." Tim frowns, rubbing his eyes his vision was getting blurry, and he could feel something wet drip down from his face.
"Eye drops first, you're crying again, and it's not clear." Sasha hands him a tissue. "I'll go talk to Jon."
"You're the best, Sasha." Tim smiles and rushes off to the bathroom. He barely makes it inside when his vision goes dark. He can only whimper in shock as fresh pain blooms where his eyes should be. A wet substance drips down his cheeks, and he barely registers hands on his shoulder, guiding him to sit on the ground.
Soft hands carefully remove the black glasses and a soft curse on his lips from a voice Tim knows, but he can't focus or see who said that. He could feel a wet cloth wipe whatever was on his face.
"Tim, you gotta breathe." That was Gunpowder. He sounded so clear, like he was right next to him. "I know it hurts, but you have to let the machines build themselves. It's actually really neat to watch."
The soft hands were done cleaning his face as he let out a sigh at the loss of touch. And a flash of light burned, and then he heard a soft click like that of a camera and a softer moving of machines like a soft roll. His vision came back way too fast, and suddenly, it was too perfect, and he saw too much. He saw a familiar sweater connected to a man leaning over him. "M-martin?" Of course it was Martin his hands were soft... he didn't know why he thought of them like a cat's paw.
"Blackwood!" Gunpowder gasps.
Martin takes the spoiled hand towel and puts it in his back pocket. "Tim, can you focus on me?"
The soft whirl of machines and Tim was looking at Martin. "What happened?" He could see the hand towel and had a few theories on what the stains were.
Martin smiles softly, and Tim feels calmer.
"Feels safe into the den of the spider." Gunpowder hums. "Do you mind if I just uh..."
Tim barely registered what happened until he was in the spot where Gunpowder was. He saw his body move without him, and he just watched unable to process until it clicked what had happened. "Oh." He watches Martin tilt his head as Gunpowder looks up at him, then he feels a stinging pain as Martin hits them.
Gunpowder holds his cheek and looks to Tim, realizing they both felt it.
Martin takes a breath. "You didn't heed any of my warnings."
Gunpowder smiles staring up at Martin.
Martin falters, and he moves and sits down next to him on the bathroom floor. "Is...?"
"Yeah, Tim's here." Gunpowder hums. "Don't think he made the connection yet."
"That is a given." Martin pulls his knees up. "I haven't.... yaknow, and I'm worried when I do..."
"You won't be able to hide." Gunpowder nods and reaches out to Martin. "Aha, he made the connection."
Martin smiles softly, interlocking his fingers with Tim. "Yeah, a lot of shit happened. Welcome to the madness of it."
"Oh, we're well past madness and circled back round to sanity." Gunpowder chuckles, taking the glasses back. "Talk later?"
Martin nods and watches Tim return to his body. "Are you ok?"
Tim blinks. Well, he thinks he blinks, but he's pretty sure he doesn't have eyelids anymore. "I uh... I think so." He paused. "So where's the spider parts? Don't tell me my shared memories and adult fantasies are a lie."
Martin chuckles. "Oh, you're both horrible. Ask Gunpowder, you ass." He gets up and holds out his hand. "Come on, we have to get back to work before Jon throws another fit."
Tim nods, getting up with Martin's help. "Seriously though, where are the spider bits?"
"I don't actually know, and I don't want to test dying to see if they come back." Martin sighs.
"Ah, fair enough." Tim continues to hold Martin's hand. "I uh...you know what happens..."
Martin frowns. "Tim, for me, it's been well over a few thousand years. My memory isn't perfect. I remember what my mind thinks are the important bits, but I've really tried to forget this happened. The ending isn't a good one." He sighs. "We can talk after work, in the tunnels."
"Tunnels?" Tim raised his brow following Martin, never unlocking their hands.
......
Martin pulled Tim back as emts rushed out with a stretcher. "Who got hurt?"
Sasha rushed over. "I went to check on Jon, and he... he was bleeding, and he was barely breathing. I called the ambulance, and they rushed him to the hospital."
Tim frowns. "Is he ok?"
"I don't know." Sasha gives a soft gasp as Martin pulls her into a hug.
"Hey, you did the right thing. Jon will be fine." Martin smiles softly. "We can visit him after our shift. I'm sure he wouldn't mind visitors."
Sasha hugs him back. "You're right. You're right. He probably knew something was wrong and refused to see a doctor."
Tim sighs. "That does sound like Jon." He paused for a moment. "I, uh yeah, back to work."
Sasha nods, wiping her eyes and pulling away from Martin. "I'm sure he'll appreciate a cleaner archive when he gets back."
Martin nods. "Of course, that sounds great." He grabs Tim's arm. "Tim and I can grab some boxies and start moving things around."
"Oh, that's great." Sasha smiles, watching them leave.
.....
"Why did you grab me?" Tim raised his brow.
"So I think I know what happened to Jon." Martin frowns.
Tim paused, and his demeanor changed, and he sags his shoulders. "Oh, this is not going to be good."
"No, it's not." Martin sighs. "Fuck everything has changed now."
"So, did we do it?" Gunpowder raised his brow.
Martin snickers. "Yeah, not even close. We both know that gods won't take this lying down even if it's Jonny."
"Eh, worth a shot." Gunpowder shrugs. "Blackwood has told me enough to know what Jon ends up as I'll explain later."
.....
Elias adjusts his tie and smiles, looking over his archivist. The unfortunate nature of the Flesh and Stranger working together does have this outcome. Of course, he can pull all the strings needed to have this little incident swept under the rug and tied in a neat bow. He smiles softly, watching him wake up. "Are you alright, Jonathan? You've given us all quite the scare." He stops seeing a scowl that isn't Jon's normal one on his lips.
Jonny's mouth felt like it was full of cotton, and his head was fuzzy, and Jon's nagging didn't exactly help him either. His gaze moved up to the man in a suit. He looked like a prick, an obnoxious wealthy prick. Jon was yelling at him that's his boss and don't fuck this up. Of course he wouldn't fuck this up he knew how to act proper and can copy Jon's boring ass. If he could just focus.
"Jonathan, are you alright? You may have hit your head on the way down. You're on some painkillers." Elias smiles, leaning over him.
Jonny furrows his brows. He hated painkillers and always took the fun out of pain and violence. "...fuzzy..." He managed to mumble. His tolerance to painkillers was null and void due to his affection for actual pain. Couldn't he just get Jon's tolerance and not just the fun new parts to explore. He scowls again at the man above his bed, he wanted to rip that smile off his face.
Elias chuckles softly. "Painkillers will do that, and you're not even on that heavy of a dose. I'm sure your coworkers will be visiting you soon. Hopefully, you'll feel better by then."
Jonny grits his teeth. He had a few choice words for that pompous ass.
"You can't kill him." Jon looked drowsy floating next to him.
At least Jonny wasn't the only one suffering in this cushioned hell. He huffs and turns his head.
Jon chuckles. "Don't be mad. You've got control." He was very out of it. He felt the same effects Jonny was. "What's.... what is uh...." He blinks, unable to form a coherent thought.
Jonny huffs and can't fight the feeling of sleep overtaking him.
......
"So Gunpowder Tim cut a bloody path...." Jonny stops, noticing that his head finally felt clear enough and reciting old ballads of his friends wasn't needed. He looked down at Jon, who was staring at him. He floated down to lay next to Jon. "What's with that look? I already explained our situation to you at nauseum."
Jon scowls, looking away. He then makes a vague motion, unable to explain why he suddenly felt wrong.
Jonny raised his brow. "You've got my dick. Ain't you special."
Jon scoffs, but his face is turning red because he feels that is true. "No..." He huffs.
Jonny paused, watching Jon get frustrated. He didn't feel like sharing in that. He learned early in that they shared emotions, and he had to get used to feeling things that weren't his own. It was honestly worse than Nastya, making him feel Aurora emotions. "I can tell you."
Jon felt himself be pushed out from his body as Jonny took control. He scowls but sighs, watching and feeling Jonny's own emotions. "So? What's wrong with m- us?"
Jonny scowls. "They cut off my fucking tail! It's a fucking bitch to grow that back." He raised his ands and feels around his forehead. "Good, they didn't cut them too short. Actually, I like them short, so this isn't an issue... I'm narrating for you Jon be grateful."
Jon raised his brow. "You can't hear my thoughts?"
"Can you hear mine?" Jonny spits back.
"Fair point." Jon sighs. "Are we ok?"
"Fuck if I know. Everything is new, raw, and sensitive. My dicks never been this fucked before." Jonny growls as he is forced back out by Jon.
"D-Dont do that." Jon pulls the blanket over his body.
Jonny shrugs, not understanding Jon. "Whatever, we just have to adjust." He pauses for a moment, pointing at Jon. "This is earth, right?"
"Yes?" Jon raised his brow.
"Tim and Blackwood always referred to me as a cowboy. What's a cow? I don't think I've ever seen an earth cow."
Jon blinks. "But you have parts like a bull."
"Wait, I thought it was called cows." Jonny returned a confused look.
Jon shakes his head. "Alien, right, you're an alien. You don't know human er earth animals. Cows don't have sharp teeth like you, but uh, bulls are basically male cows, but cows are the general term used."
"Can I see what they look like?" Jonny floated to lay next to Jon.
"Yeah, when I get my phone." Jon paused. "Are you upset I wasn't born a man?"
"Why would I care? You've got my dick now, and I have a new hole to play with. This is a win for me." Jonny shrugs and raised his brow feeling relief pour from Jon.
"Thank you." Jon says quietly.
"Ok?" Jonny shrugs floating to look around the hospital room.
......
Sasha slams on the breaks. "Tim what the fuck."
Tim's eyes clicked and whirled. He was told only he could hear this by Gunpowder. Well, both can hear since they share a body. He reaches for his glasses and realizes he took them off because his ears were bothering him. He could feel the look from Gunpowder and Martin on him. "It's a long story."
Sasha rocketed to a spot to park, and she twisted her body to the back seat. "Tim explain now!"
Martin bites his lip and blurts out. "It's my fault. I'm supposed to be dead, both me and Gunpowder. Promised an end to eternity, and it was a farce and I'm back here like this, and I really tried to forget about this part of my life. I mean for fucks sake you die and get replaced Sasha and none of us notice for a year because of how it worked. Tim dies in an explosion, destroying the circus, and that isn't to mention the fucked up paranoia from Jon and extreme levels of fucked up creatures that I mean now I can look back at and laugh but you can't you're mortal. I mean, these are fear gods, so I mean they will get to you eventually."
Gunpowder grabs Martin's hand. "Martin, that's enough. The only reason Jonny knew about my past was because he was playing soldier and was with me. You don't have to..." He stops as Martin waves him off.
"No, it's fine. Tim and Sasha deserve to know." Martin sighs. "I'll tell you what I can remember it has been a few thousand years since I've been through this."
.....
Sasha swallows. "I believe you."
Martin blinks. "Why?"
"I've had a bad feeling, and I knew Gertrude didn't just go missing." Sasha then points to Tim. "Also look at his fucking eyes Martin that's pretty good evidence."
Gunpowder nods.
Martin gives a nervous smile. "I'm sorry I've gotten used to things over the years. I like Tim's eyes."
"Yeah, yeah, don't boast his ego." Sasha puts her seat belt back on. "So keep your glasses on Tim. We're going to visit Jon if the same thing happened to him like you."
"It's equally as possible. Jon worked himself into a delusional state and just hurt himself." Martin shrugs.
Tim blinks back in control. "That's really dark."
"No, no, Martin has a point." Sasha starts the car again. "Remember that incident in research."
"I tried to forget, but I see your point." Tim sighs, putting his glasses back on.
Martin sighs. "Hopefully that isn't the case."
.....
Jon shifted uncomfortably as he sat up. Jonny wasn't lying. The tail thing was incredibly uncomfortable and annoying. He stared at the hospital food in front of him and was told he couldn't leave till tomorrow. He hated hospital food, and he hated hospitals.
"Stop pouting." Jonny rolls his eyes. "I can feel your emotions and pouting won't get you nowhere."
"Oh, then what can I do? Please enlighten me." Jon scowls taking a bite of his peas.
"For one, actually eat. How the fuck are you in such shit condition? Do you even know what fun is?" Jonny shook his head. "You can't do shit without meat on your bones, and you look half starved. You're a fucking disaster."
Jon continues to scowl, not saying a word.
The door opens to his room.
"Blackwood!" Jonny floats through him, trying to tackle him. "Fuck."
Martin smiles softly as Tim and Sasha follow behind him. "We wanted to make sure you're ok."
"You gave me a scare, Jon." Sasha crosses her arms. "You need to learn how to take a break, or at least see a doctor."
Tim was odd wearing sunglasses that completely hid his eyes, but he knew Tim was having trouble with his eyes. "You look awful."
Jon can't help but give a soft smile. "Just wasn't paying attention and hit my head." He motions to the bandages around his head and ears.
"Don't lie to Blackwood. That man can see through any lie you spit." Jonny crosses his arms. "Besides, I bet you control of my choosing that Gunpowder is in your Tim."
Jon ignores him. "Ah you didn't have to bring me anything."
Martin smiles softly as he pulls out a chocolate slice of cake. "It's just some chocolate cake. I mean, you don't have to have it..." He stops as Jon's demeanor changes in an instant as he pushes his food aside.
Jon was forced out and watched Jonny make grabby hands.
"Give it here, Blackwood." Jonny huffs. "Don't you fucking tempt me."
Martin's expression changed, and Jon could feel a shiver down his back. "You and your sweet tooth." He tisks, placing the slice down.
Jonny grabs the container. "Fuck you." He huffs and has enough decency to use a fork. "Your fucking lucky I have to fix this body or I would end you."
Jon watches Tim snicker. "You lost height!" His snickers turn to giggles.
"Piss off." Jonny scoffs.
Sasha raised her brow. "How did you know the cake would work?"
"d'Ville only has one craving he can't quit, and it ain't cigarettes." Gunpowder smirks, taking off his glasses, revealing his mechanical eyes.
Jonny scowls. "Oh fuck you. I don't deny myself pleasures like you."
"I have manners you lack." Tim spits back.
Martin chuckles and has a glint in his eyes and a sinister smile that again Jon can't tear his eyes from. "Now, both of you, that's enough." He moves closer and leans over Jonny. "How about you behave and finish all of your food, and maybe I'll convince the doctors to let you leave early?"
Jon can feel the tug, no the crashing wave of desire, and just pure love spill from Jonny, and if they had his tail, it would be wagging like a dog.
Jonny, for his part, nods eagerly. "It would be faster if you fed me." He purrs back.
Martin steps back. "Don't push your luck. I'm mad at you."
In a split second, that emotion was gone, replaced with annoyance. Jon had to shake his head from the whiplash.
"We agreed!" Jonny huffs stuffing his face with food. "It's not like you were there with your bleeding heart. You weren't there, I woke up after that bar in that... look, I'm not having this conversation."
Jon could feel a bubble of an emotion, one that he knew should leave unspoken. He remains quiet watching Martin.
Martin gaze didn't break, let alone change. He crosses his arms. "Did you do the same?"
Jonny swallows his final bite. "I can't say I wanted to change it, so I didn't."
Martin's gaze seems to finally soften. "Good, he didn't deserve forgiveness." He reached out and pat Jonny's shoulder. "That's my cowboy." He pauses. "What's with the frown?"
"They cut off my tail." Jonny sounded honest and small.
Jon was taken aback.
"I never said humanity was a kind species." Martin brushes a stray piece of hair out of Jonny's face. "It will grow back."
"Not the point." Jonny sighs. "How's your former mortal." His gaze shifted to Tim.
"Probably better than yours with the adjustment." Gunpowder slides his glasses back on. "You look like shit."
"Not my fault." Jonny mutters.
"Never said it was." Gunpowder muses. "Maybe you shouldn't have asked Martin for his story."
Martin rolls his eyes. "Just because you're bitter doesn't mean you get to drag me into this argument again." He walks by Sasha, grabbing her arm. "Would you like to hear more while they complain?"
Sasha nods. "Sure, why not." She follows Martin out of the room as he shuts the door behind him.
Gunpowder frowns. "Don't give me that look. I already got an earful from him, and to be fair, he warned both of us to wait. Now, why do you think this didn't happen the first time?"
"Aren't you just full of dumb questions." Jonny adjusts his glasses. "They were already dead and gone by the time we crossed the first time. This place was fine. I dunno Blackwood said it's been. I dunno fifty years since it ended and started again." He raised his brow at something Tim couldn't see. "You do know what apocalypse means, right? Right well that happened, and you died before I came here the first time."
Gunpowder waves his hand. "Jonny, stop, we both know what happened in the end. They don't know the full truth yet, neither of them."
Jonny frowns and stares at Tim. "How long do you think it will take till being the good guy gets old?"
"Who knows? We've never tried it." Gunpowder shrugs. "You should hold off on being honest about this world, as much as I know you like your stories and songs. Unless you want to deal with Jon."
Jonny waves him off. "Whatever, it doesn't matter now he'll learn as I will annoyingly to see his memories. Just let me figure this out, and as much as I hate to see you two on good terms compared to my situation. Just wait."
For what, Jon had no idea, but this Gunpodwer did, who nodded.
"Seriously though, figure something out with this Jon. You seriously look worse than when we were starving, as a competition." Gunpowder sighs. "Blackwood..." He looks through the door. "Yeah, he already convinced the doctors and nurses to let you go, and they are on their way. Enjoy your new home, alone." He smirks as he leaves.
Jon was flung back into his body, feeling Jonny fuming, but the other man was uncharacteristic silent. He had to think this over and what this actually meant. So he died the first time, but when and how? Before or after the apocalypse?
.......
He wasn't truly alone, not anymore. Jon sunk into his bed and opened his phone. "How did Martin even convince them to let me leave?"
"He's got a way of trapping people making them do what he wants." Jonny hums. "Now, show me a picture of a cow."
Jon wanted to press, but he quickly learned pleasing Jonny was the best way to get answers. He pulled up a picture of a cow and a bull and held it up.
Jonny was quiet studying the creatures he saw. He broke into a wide grin. "They look cute, don't they. Good cows."
Jon hums and sighs. "You said Martin told you what happens to this world. What happens? Why did he become one of you? What are you guys?"
Jonny frowns. "I rather not feel your stupid emotions." He scratches behind his ear. "You won't let this go. However, Blackwood warned me you were insistent, so I might as well spin you a tale." Suddenly, a harmonica appeared in his hands. "A tragic fate of star-crossed lovers doomed by forces beyond their control, and a man turned to a monster that was left in the ruins."
Jon listened to the haunting story on a soft melody. He learned how his coworkers, no his friends, died. How he roamed the wastelands the fears as the apocalypse he caused reigned, how Martin stayed by his side even though he caused this by being tricked. The story ended in a sharp blade.
Jonny stopped. "And you were no more as the pancoption crumbled the archive now, just a man taking his final breath. An ending driven by a man afraid of death and so willing to please a god who didn't care for him as nothing more than a tool. Blackwood crushed but was not dead. A familiar doctor just happened to be passing by the rubble. She wanted to try something new, just not machines anymore, something animalistic, something new. And so Blackwood became a monster a first of his kind." He stretches. "Immortality such a boring goal, isn't it? You would think you would want something more interesting."
Jon was speechless he couldn't string together thoughts.
Jonny frowns, feeling the rush of emotions. "Look..." He swallows and feels tears drip down his face. He was frustrated that he couldn't stop this. He hated emotions, and he hated being honest to himself, but Jon still viewed himself as mortal, and he won't be raw without his partners. He floated down beside Jon and let him cry. He couldn't stop it. The rush of emotions overwhelmed him.
Jon finally spoke. "How do I stop it?"
"Fuck if I know. I wasn't here. I heard the story from Blackwood." Jonny was purposely looking away from him. "You have to ask him, but we promised to play the good guys this time around, or well, until it gets boring."
"We're going to stop this." Jon tried to muster confidence he didn't have.
Jonny just sighs. "Go to bed. Watch some of my memories. If you don't start trying to fix your body, I will do it by force."
Jon pulls his blanket up and frowns. He falls into an unsteady sleep.
......
Elias raised his brow, watching his archivist return to work. "Jonathan, I did tell you to take time to rest after yesterday." He had a smile and a silver tongue.
Jonny scoffs. "He's worse sober."
Jon smiles nervously. "I'm fine, Elias." He adjusts his hat covering his new sensitive ears. His tail had already started to grow back, and Jonny said it's a side effect of immortality, which Jon didn't believe in. It's supposed to be much longer than a cow's tail and semi prehensile. He wanted to test it but knew better than to try anything in public.
Elias frowns. "Now, Jon, I don't need you working yourself sick again." He knew the effects of the stranger and the flesh it probably hasn't hit the man yet, and he didn't want him breaking down having him explain the truth.
Jon frowns. "I'm fine, Elias. I know how to take care of myself. I'm going to get back to work."
Elias frowns, crossing his arms and watching Jon rush off to the archives . He raises his brow, and seeing the start of a tail, he is informed that it is cut off. It shouldn't be growing back this fast. He had a few connections to pull to get more information. He had no desire to pick another archivist nor start again.
......
"We should kill him." Jonny floats next to Jon, his tail lazily flicking behind him.
"Elias is my boss. I'm not going to kill him." Jon scowls as he hears Tim snickers. "Tim, that's enough."
Tim hums, Jon can see his hair is curling and is getting lighter than the black he has. "I don't think so, bossman. We think it's quite hilarious Jonny's on a leash."
Jon was pushed out as Jonny took control. "Oh go fuck yourself you fucking cunt." Jonny stomps off to Jon's office making it a point to slam the door.
Martin snickers from the entrance and refrains from explaining Elias can see them. Oh, that would be hilarious. Does he know Jon and Jonny are sharing a body, or does he think that the fears changed Jon? Either way, things have changed, and he wants to see Elias... no Jonah squirm with the unpredictability. Martin will force him to realize immortality is not worth it, and death is a gift. He silently walks to his desk and takes a seat.
"Enjoying the show?" Tim smirks. "We are."
"Oh, I'm enjoying something else." Martin smiles back.
"Already knitting a web, I see." Gunpowder nods. "I always enjoy the finished project."
Martin taps his fingers against his desk. "You know I think it's not a Web I rather not get mixed up with that particular fear I think I can recall the avatar is kind of a right bitch."
"Really? You have to explain the fear thing better because some of them just sound fun or fun to kill." Gunpowder smirks.
"Later, and Sasha already made a list." Martin points to Sasha sipping her coffee.
"You two share a body. Did you not pay attention when Tim was reading it?" Sasha raised her brow.
Tim huffs. "I couldn't figure out how to turn off the Xray vision on these damn eyes until like an hour before I slept." He had a slight blush on his cheeks. "Then the damn things wouldn't stop focusing on objects miles away."
Gunpowder took back control. "To be fair, I still have trouble controlling them. Human biology and mechanical parts tend to fight until they get into a rhythm. Also, I have like a million years of experience, and Tim does not."
Sasha frowns. "That sounds actually awful. Does Jonny have these problems?"
Gunpowder shrugs. "He never complains, and if he dislikes something, he's quite vocal. I think he uses the ticking as a metronome."
Martin nods. "As boney as he is, he's very nice to sleep too. The ticking is quite soothing." He sighs. "Granted, I won't be able to enjoy any of that for a long while, I reckon."
"Shit, I remembered that this isn't a desert planet." Gunpowder pauses. "Jonnys going to be a little bitch."
"Why?" Sasha raised her brow.
"Jonny's originally from a mostly desert planet, so his tail ears and horns were basically made to keep him cool. Even the nights were hot, so he doesn't exactly have any defenses against the cold, and he makes his complaints known as Gunpowder said." Martin hums. "Although he loves the snow and rain."
"We never said the man made sense." Gunpowder shrugs, letting Tim back in control.
Sasha tilts her head. "What was the planet like that you're from?"
"Gunpowder is from the earth of a different dimension." Tim taps his pen against his desk and adjusts his glasses. "He did however blow up the moon."
"Now you're just fucking with me." Sasha rolls her eyes and heads back to her desk.
Martin chuckles. "Don't feel bad about it. In this time, we've barely had any people on the moon."
"See, I told you!" Tim huffs. "He wouldn't listen to me or the facts I provided."
"Tim, you have to understand where we're coming from. We lived on a spaceship." Martin hums heading to his desk to start working.
Tim sighs. "Still annoying."
.....
Martin stares at the bloody fingernails in the sink. He knew his luck was running out. His body wasn't going to wait till his first death. He could feel how tight his skin felt and how it was hard to walk to breathe. He wasn't scared to become what he was supposed to be, but it would make this so much harder. He flexed his hand, seeing the black claw nails start to poke through his flesh. He doesn't truly care he made peace ages ago with what the doctor made him.
Elias watched Martin with a curious gaze. He can feel the Beholder use his eyes to watch intently. He had a feeling in his gut something changed something twisted in the mere fabric of reality. He hasn't even checked on Jon since he arrived this morning, and the Beholder agreed that something more interesting was happening. Martin was unassuming and predictable, but this was new, and he wanted to know why. He wasn't an avatar, and that also fueled his curiosity. How is he changing without one of the fears?
Martin rubbed his eyes and sighed. He had time, and he had time to prepare. He wanted Jonny. He just wanted that soft ticking, Gunpowder could soothe his anxieties, but Jonny was a comfort. Sure, the man was brash rude and a devil, but he was his, and that was enough. Gunpowder wouldn't touch him till Tim was fully on board with him, and Martin respected that. Hell he was fucking happy with that. Jonny, however, was a mystery, Jon was tighter lipped, and he knew how long it took for Jon to even understand his emotions, let alone actually relie on others.
Martin gathered his fingernails from the sink and threw them out with a sigh. Maybe he could go to artifact storage to slow things. Well, that has just a likely chance to kill him. He doesn't care. Maybe he could convince Gunpowder and Tim to head to the tunnels properly. He finished washing his hands, not even flinching at the exposed nerves.
Elias's gaze intensified as he watched Tim enter the bathroom. More importantly, he removed his sunglasses, revealing new eyes. When did he get surgery? More importantly, how can he still see? He shut his eyes, and he was seeing from Tim's eyes.
Tim scratched his chin. "Martin, you alright?"
Elias saw a man in the mirror that wasn't Tim.
Martin sighs. "I'm fine." He stretches. "Just a bit achey, what about you?"
"I'm fine." Tim crosses his arms. "Ok, maybe not entirely fine, but I'm getting used to it."
The man in the mirror that wasn't Tim spoke and Elias could hear him.
"I know my scars aren't pretty, and I'm sorry." The not Tim sighs.
Tim shook his head. "Dude, I said it's fine." He turns back to Martin. "I'm more peeved about the hair than I am about the scars, and I still haven't agreed to grow it out."
Not Tim huffs.
Martin chuckles. "The two colors look good together, and if you don't grow it out, what else am I supposed to grab?"
Tim swallows, and Elias sees him in the mirror, and he figured it out that this not Tim was in control.
"Oh, don't tease the man. He doesn't understand the fun a simple act can do. Let alone one with those..." Not Tim stops staring at Martin's hand. "When?"
Martin huffs. "Gunpowder, it's fine. You know how you can't hide what the good doctor does to you. I'm fine. I just feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable, but it will pass."
Not Tim or Gunpowder, ridiculous name if you asked Elias. He smiles softly.
"Fuck the waiting, from what I've seen its going to be brutal and he shouldn't be alone..." Tim was speaking out loud now. "He shouldn't have to go through this by him....self... ah, you ass."
Martin raised his brow with a soft smile. "I appreciate the offer, Tim, but you're not exactly desensitized enough for my liking."
Tim huffs. "Then Gunpowder will watch and be out. You don't deserve to be alone through this. I know you have an issue with that, I uh well, Gunpowder knows, and I saw the memory."
"Fine, if you insist." Martin paused, and Elias shivers with that look. "I've shared things with Gunpowder in secret. I don't want you to share with anyone." He grabs Tim's shirt. "Understand?"
Tim swallows and nods.
Martin smiles again as his features soften. "Good, I'll come by your flat tonight."
Tim watches Martin leave with a shudder. Elias doesn't leave yet.
"I warned you about being caught in Blackwood's web. You're not close enough with him to get comfortable." Gunpowder clicks his tongue. "He's not the man you knew, so please don't underestimate him. I would rather not die before Jonny does. We've got a bet going on."
Tim swallows and slides the dark sunglasses back on, and Elias is shocked to see his vision didn't change in the slightest. "He's still a good person."
"That's... well, none of us are good." Gunpowder responds dryly. "It comes with the territory."
Tim didn't like that answer, but he remained quiet as Elias came back to himself. He had a lot to think about.
......
"At least you know how to tell a story." Jonny responds with a bored tone. "These statements still suck, I still suggest we burn the entire place down."
Jon scowls. "No." He stretches and pulls out the used tape. "Can you think of anything that doesn't involve violence.... or sex." He gives a glare.
"Now you're just plain boring." Jonny raised his brow. "Being serious all the time must be fucking exhausting."
Jon sputters. "Just because I'm not some guy who thinks he's immortal and some sex pest doesn't mean anything."
"I don't care what you think of me." Jonny stares directly at Jon. "We are stuck together for the rest of time, and whatever comes after."
Jon scowls. "I won't devolve to be on your level."
Jonny rolls his eyes. "I don't care."
Jon huffs and leaves his office.
"Jon, you ok?" Sasha smiles softly.
Jon stops and sighs. "I'm fine, just getting used to an unfortunate roommate."
"That's one way to call it." Tim mutters.
"You two should try getting along." Sasha hums. "You'll be stuck together forever, I guess. I think it would suck if you two were stuck together fighting for all of that."
Jon scowls. "Oh, he's a right ass only cares about violence and sex. He's nothing but a pest, and I abhor the fact that I have to share my own body with him."
"Oh piss off." Jonny huffs.
Gunpowder sighs. "His attitude comes with his age. He is the oldest of us besides the doctor, but we don't know about her, though, really." He kicks his feet up. "Jonny, I know you're listening. You should be cautious he's going to see memories that you've forgotten. Funny how the mind works even if we forget they still exist in there, just waiting for a trigger to pull them free."
Jon expected Jonny to kick him out and take control, but he felt fear grip his heart that no longer beat. He swallows the dread that wasn't his and doesn't look at Jonny. "I will keep that in mind for when I sleep."
The conversation dies as Jon leaves as the day has ended, and he doesn't want to linger.
.......
The rusty hinges creaked on the old shack the teen called a home. He made sure he tipped off his shoes before entering, and he saw his father passed out in a drunken stupor. He carefully made his way to the small kitchen connected to the living room. If you would call it, that and stumbled upon a note.
"Jonny boy, I've left to clean up after your father. He pissed off some old doctor at the edge of town. I've left old Bessie for you to make sure she's in better condition when I get back, boy. Now, if I don't come back, I know you won't end up like your father. You're too smart for that. Use your ears to find a target to shoot. We both know your eyes aren't the best use that good hearing of yours. Don't file your horns too short boy they grow for a reason, and I love you forever and always."
Wrapped in leather by the note was a familair old looking revolver, the name Bessie was carved crudely into the handle. The weight would become familair in the teen's hands. He took the note scowled at his father and then headed off to hunt for dinner since that lazy piece of shit won't do anything but gamble.
Jon woke up with a start. He could feel a rush of emotions that weren't his. "I..."
"Don't say a fucking word." Jonny scowls. "Don't go telling nobody about that."
Jon nodded he paused, squinting at the clock that glowed, showing it was 3am. He sighs. "I don't remember my mother, or my father, with died at different times, but I was too young to remember them. My grandmother raised me, bitter she had to raise another child. Never told me that directly, however."
Jonny braces himself and grits his teeth. "I don't remember what my mom looks like either."
"Then we have that in common. Maybe the next dream will be my memory, and you can pick apart that." Jon sighs and curls under his blanket.
Jonny nods. "Just go back to sleep."
......
Martin grits his teeth and groans in pure agony. He could barely register the hand going through his red curls. His legs hurt, and he couldn't move them. His skin felt like it was on fire, and he didn't particularly like burning to death. He was stripped down to his birthday suit, and it didn't help with the fact that he was in pure agony.
Gunpowder continues to run his hands through Martin's hair. "It's alright, you're ok. It will be over soon."
"Just fucking kill me." Martin groans.
"We both know that won't help." Gunpowder sighs. "Would you like to hear my story?"
Martin takes a deep breath. "Please distract me."
Gunpowder nods and begins to narrate his origins.
....
An obnoxious alarm pulled Tim from sleep on the floor. He was laying in something wet and the smell of iron... no blood filled his nose, which caused him to panic and flail completely awake. His eyes lock onto a large spider, half then blood, then flesh and bone. Gunpowder takes over before he can throw up.
"Yikes, I thought the shared emotions wouldn't be this strong. Man, you are super depressed." Gunpowder gets up, smearing the blood off from his body. "You're going to need a stronger stomach." He looked over Martin, who was out cold. "See, he's breathing.... please stop screaming. " he covers his mouth, feeling his stomach sour from the sheer fear and disgust from Tim. He swallows the bile rising in his throat, turns away from the scene, and heads to the bathroom.
Gunpowder barely makes it to the toilet to empty the contents of his stomach. He continues to dry heave for a moment before turning to face Tim. "Are you done?"
Tim was pale, and he finally caught his breath. He was still radiating fear and disgust, but he was stable enough to talk. "Is he still alive?"
Gunpowder wipes his mouth. "Of course he is. What part of we can't die, don't you understand?" He frowns, pulling back his frustration. "Sorry you can't control how you react yet. I didn't realize how much I would share when we feel strong emotions." He sits on his knees and sighs. "I'll clean up, just try not to get sick again, please."
Tim nods and shudders. "I.... I'm not desensitized to this stuff. I'm sorry."
Gunpowder gets up, feeling the soft twists of sadness and self-doubt. "Tim, it's not a bad thing, means you're still human. Don't be too hard on yourself." He pulls out some cleaning supplies from the bathroom cabinet. "Tell me about Danny."
Tim frowns and nods slightly. "He was my younger brother...."
.....
Martin wakes up to someone touching his hand. He furrows his brow, pulling his hand back, and skitters up to be his full height, staring down at Tim. He hissed and then blushed, finally realizing that Tim was, in fact, there, and he wasn't a threat. He covers his face and groans, playing out his legs to be shorter. "I didn't mean to hiss at you."
Tim looked over to Gunpowder giggling, and he felt a laugh bubble in his own throat, and wow, no wonder he got frustrated. He didn't exactly know how he felt about feeling someone else's emotions. He gave a soft smile and reached out again to hold Martin's hand. "Your hands are really like a cat's paw."
Martin smiles and lets Tim take his hand. "Spiders have padded limbs and toe beans if you actually look at them."
"That's actually really cute." Tim blushes slightly. "Oh shit how are we going to get to work?"
Martin shrugs. "Might as well scare Elias first."
"Really?" Tim snickers. "What is he scared of spiders?"
"No, he's scared of what they represent." Martin hums. "We're going to be late, and I need a shirt."
"Right, you brought a spare one, right?" Tim paused and rushed over to a bag Martin brought. "Also, you're going to have to talk to my neighbors because of all the stuff we threw out, and they probably think I'm a serial killer."
Martin snickers. "I think I'll scare them into silence."
"Man, I've seen too much of Gunpowder, and Jonny and you having fun together to remember that I'm supposed to be scared of you because you're a spider centaur." Tim tosses over a sweater.
"I suppose I don't find myself scary either. Honestly, the fear left pretty quickly once I realized how my new body worked." Martin smiles. "This will be obnoxious getting to work. I don't mind walking. You live much closer than I do, but being stared at isn't ideal."
"Maybe a blanket?" Tim stops and covers his face. "That wouldn't work."
Martin chuckles. "I appreciate the concept idea, but Jonny tried that once."
"Wait really?" Tim raised his brow.
"Yeah, ended up in a bar fight." Martin snickers. "Although it was fucking hilarious."
"Huh." Tim crosses his arms. "Just bite the bullet and head out?"
"After you." Martin hums and smiles.
.....
Elias blinks, and the scene doesn't change. What confounds him the most is the fact that this has nothing to do with the web. The Beholder is taking it all in, and he can feel actual confusion from his patron. He clears his throat and approaches. "Martin, I don't believe it's near Halloween unless you've got an event planned."
Martin hums impressed at how well Elias can mask his true emotions. "I don't think a costume would be strong enough to carry someone on." He motions to Tim who waves.
"He insisted that he carry me." Tim smiles.
"Well, yes, but I hope I don't cause you too much trouble." Martin smiles. "Why the surprise this is your institute, and shouldn't you expect the supernatural?" He has a smirk as he walks past a stunned Elias.
Elias doesn't have a response to that. His mind was completely blank, and the Beholder was eerily silent.
Tim was snickering. "Double boss man seems quite stunned."
Martin chuckles. "Oh, this is quite fun."
That thought came crashing down with a terrified scream and wide eyed stares.
Martin felt exposed, and he couldn't remember the last time he felt bad about his body until this moment. He knows Tim can feel him tense. "I..."
"Jon, seriously?" Tim huffs sliding off Martin's back. "It's not his fault he's like this."
Jon was trying really hard to keep his panic and fear in check, and he felt a growing bubble of white hot rage directed at him and feeling it. The feedback loop was really confusing. "I uh..." He was forced out by Jonny.
"Fuck off." Jonny took back control his tail was lashing and puffed out at the end. His ears were pinned back, and the hair on top of his head was puffing out. "Seriously fuck off I don't judge you for who you carnally desire. Blackwood is mine, and you have absolutely no right." He goes o continue his rant, but a tooth falls out. He blinks as confusion fills his features, and he crouched down to poke it.
Martin opens his mouth and closes it. "You know I remember now what he was missing, the teeth."
"The teeth." Gunpowder repeats with a nod.
"I'm sorry Martin, are you ok?" Sasha vaguely motions.
"I mean, it was painful, but it doesn't hurt now." Martin pauses. "I have to figure out how to use my desk."
Tim is getting back control, pulling his eyes away from Jonny, now messing with his teeth. "I mean, you can get rid of the chair and move from there."
"That could work." Martin hums and looks over to Jonny. "Are you ok?"
Jonny holds a handful of his teeth. "What do you think?" He scowls. "Well fuck you too. No, I'm mad at you. That's a stupid fucking question, I don't care about spiders let alone being scared of them."
Three pairs of eyes watch the one sided argument.
.....
A fog seemed to roll into Elias's office out of nowhere, and a tall, muscular man in a captains attire steps inside. The man stops and stares at Elias, who had his head down on his desk. "Elias?"
Elias groans. "Peter."
"Shouldn't you be enjoying your new archivist floundering?" Peter raised his brow.
Elias takes a breath. "Peter, I have called every avatar I ever had contact with to ask if they knew what was going on with my archivist and his assistants. I have no leads, and the Beholder is clueless."
Peter opens his mouth then shuts it with a click.
"Do you have any idea what's happening? Because I don't have a singlaur clue." Elias throws his hands up. "One of the archivist assistants is a half spider centaur, and he's not even aligned with the web. The other has mechanical eyes that still work as eyes. That technology doesn't exist, and the Flesh doesn't bother with machines."
Peter reaches out. "I think you need a vacation."
Elias slams his hands against his desk. "Peter, I'm serious!" He gets up and grabs Peter's arm, and drags him to the archives.
Peter stared stunned.

Ok let's see how much Saw au I can write for TMA on my lunch break:
First off, my brain was like, "Well clearly Jonah Magnus is Jigsaw and Elias Bouchard is one of his apprentice/effectively in the Amanda role because you know he got tossed in a trap for being an addict." I'm honestly a little bothered by how well it fits. It's almost too easy. Though the main difference between John Kramer and Jonah Magnus as characters is John is not afraid to die but Jonah definitely is. So how does that translate? Does Jonah likewise have an inoperable frontal lobe tumor that is ticking away towards his end? I think so, and I think it becomes this constant edge of fear for him. But unlike John and his suicide attempt, Jonah miraculously survives what should have been a fatal car accident. That transforms him, turning the fear in his mind into a challenge. He survived when he shouldn't have. He's still here, and he's going to make something of his life with this second chance. And he wants to give that gift to everyone.
For Elias, even though it's Amanda's reasoning, I'd rather go with the Venus flytrap from the opening of Saw II with the key to release him hidden behind his eye, ready to consume him just like his vices. But unlike that unfortunate schmo in the movie, Elias successfully gets the key out in time by gouging out his eye. And just like that, he's a convert. Jigsaw helped him out of his listless life. He has a purpose now. He has never seen so clearly.
Gertrude Robinson could easily be one of the police detectives tracking down Jigsaw, and it's become her life's work to do it. She ends up never having time for anything else, but what she doesn't know is obsession is a dangerous thing.
But I know what we're really here for. We wanna see the traps for the archives crew. But unfortunately my lunch is up, so we will have to wait.

im still like mid s3 in tma but im practically spoiled all the way to somewhere else, tell me more about the archivist tim story. is the not them even relevant if tim is already marked by the stranger? if it is who end up a not!them? tim would need a spider mark right? wonder what that is
*vibrating in place* ARCHIVIST!TIM STOKER, MY BELOVED!
You have no idea how much I love this AU. You have no idea how long I could talk about it. No, really. It took so many edits to keep this response reasonable.
(This is from my notes document on this AU, and does not include the lengthy conversation that originally spawned it. My adoration of Archivist!Tim cannot be overstated.)
Okay, okay. A couple things to establish. First: I cannot take full credit for this AU. @daydreamingofdragons & I came up with it together while bouncing ideas off eachother, and it spiraled (ha) out of control. This is just as much their monster as it is mine.
Second: Tim Stoker’s trauma is not defined by being from the Stranger. His tie to the Stranger hugely shapes his character, but not the Stranger itself. Tim’s trauma is defined by the feeling that he had multiple chances to save his brother and didn’t; that Tim watched Danny die, too close not to feel like Tim should’ve done something, and even though Tim consciously tries to argue with himself that there was nothing he could’ve done, Tim can never silence the part of him which says Tim’s actions (or lack thereof) indirectly killed his little brother. You don’t need the Stranger for that.
(a few post-s3 spoilers below cut, as well as other answers.)
Third: The purpose of the Archivist is to collect “marks” (scars/traumas) from each of the Entities. The Archivist is chosen for their potential to collect those marks, and how easy they seem like they’ll make it (translation: how much work Elias has to put in himself.) To make a viable Archivist candidate, you need to ask what mark/s they already have when they first arrive at the Institute, how Elias might manipulate them, and how much manipulation it would take for them to start putting “finding answers” above “personal safety.” (So Jon Sims is an exceptionally good candidate because he’s driven by a desperate need to understand, he has trouble trusting others, his self-worth was already garbage by the time he got to the Magnus Institute, a consequence of both being a tendency to do absolutely everything himself, and he walked in already marked by arguably the hardest Entity to manipulate into doing anything.)
While the Web would be needed eventually, it's not needed as a foundation. Any mark will do, though if anyone at the Institute is still marked by the Web, you need to give your chosen Archivist a mark just as (if not more) rare & dangerous to make them the more tempting prospect.
.
So, Tim is not marked by the Stranger; we actually had him marked by the End (full statement outlined,) and to compensate for how not Eye-aligned Tim is (canon!Tim wants answers about what happened to Danny, but beyond that curiosity is very much not one of Tim's defining character traits; he's not driven for want of knowledge the way Jon & Sasha are, he's driven by love for those closest to him & a need to find a guilty party who can be blamed & punished for any suffering they endure) we had each one of his assistants be marked by a different Entity. After all, if Tim doesn't care about answers or mysteries that don't affect people he cares about, the answer is to tie those mysteries to the personal struggles of those people he cares about.
Jon kept his Web mark (still Mr. Spider, and Jon was definitely the backup in case anything happened to Tim, but the End was always going to be the biggest risk to get a mark from, which makes it just too tempting even with Tim's temper & disposition taken into account.)
Sasha was marked by the Dark (the first time Tim uses his powers is to protect her from it, eventually leading Tim to directly help Basira & co with the lowercase-r ritual the People's Church performed in s2.)
Martin was marked by the Stranger (and also is the only assistant Tim didn't choose; Martin was Gertrude's last assistant, while Jon & Sasha were on a list of "pre-approved" potential assistants Elias gave Tim.)
(and yes, we fully figured out how Sasha & Martin were both impacted, and how it would tie into the plot & their respective arcs. Especially Martin & Jon's tragic enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story in this version.)
That gives Tim 4 different rabbits to chase down. By the time he's started to clear up even one of them, chances are other avatars would start to poke their noses into the archives' business. And then Tim's temper, need to protect those he deems to be his own, and need for retribution on any who would harm them would keep Tim locked solidly into the Archivist's role. He's not going to try to leave as long as they're still at risk, and he's always going to jump in front of that bus rather than throw any of his people under it. And once Tim figures out what's happening, he's far more likely to try to get ahead of things by taking the fight to the other avatars rather than try to slide beneath their notice the way Jon mostly did.
.
The NotThem isn't actually that relevant, though we did play a bit with the idea of NotBasira. Instead, @daydreamingofdragons came up with a new creature who does the opposite: it steals identities by rendering people unrecognizable. Not like it replaces them or completely changes their appearance, but it's the cross-section of the fear of mistaking a stranger for someone you care about & the fear of being rejected by loved ones. This person claiming to be your brother is obviously not your brother---sure, at a distance you might mistake them for your brother, maybe they could even fool someone who doesn't know your brother that well, but you can very clearly see all the little differences that show this cannot possibly be your brother. Especially if you have a picture to compare. It's not your brother, you know it's not your brother, why is this complete stranger insisting that they're your brother? Why do they know so many things about your brother, why are they wearing his clothes, how did they get the lucky charm he never takes off? What did they DO to him?!?
(It is, in fact, your brother. He knows why you're acting like this, he can't recognize himself in the mirror, but it doesn't make your complete rejection of his identity hurt any less.)
I can't remember if we actually discussed this, but I've been calling it the "Innominate." Which is an adjective meaning "something anonymous or unnamed," but sounds like a word that could easily be a verb meaning "to un-name something, to render anonymous," and also works as a proper noun just fine.
It goes after Jon in mid-to-late s2. This leads to everyone needing to figure out whether or not they still trust Jon ("trust & love as an active choice," you're such a good theme and I love you so, so much,) Georgie joining the Institute to investigate Jon's "disappearance" (they reconnected after Jon did the follow-up on Melanie's statement in s1,) and Tim needing to save Jon from Daisy after they find Gertrude's body (s2 finale, rather than s1; but once the police are there, there is one person in this verse who is obviously skittish, out of place, and doesn't want to show identification to the cops, and it's not the Archivist. Tim's being nothing but coolly polite & helpful, because he's worried about his people and wants to get these cops out of his archives as soon as humanly possible.)
The antagonist for s1 is the Spiral rather than the Corruption, and after Michael (& co) invades the Archives, Tim ends up going to Hill Top Road for a guiding thread so he can rescue his friends. He hates it, but Tim recognizes the pattern, has no pre-existing hangups about the Web, and there's an original statement in there about a woman getting lost in the tunnels and following a thread of spider silk all the way to the trap door in the archives. With the help of the thread anchored in Tim's chest, he's able to trick a different Spiral ally into the heart of the Distortion and safely recover Sasha, Martin, & Jon from the chaotic, twisting halls. With the changed heart (and the loss of Michael's obsession) the Distortion retreats for a while.

Updates on Life
Wow I think I'm finally a little more normal about all my interests! /lh
I blame college and work as the reason as to why I haven't really been posting much and only reblogging tbh, I haven't got any time anymore and I have exams coming up soon. I'm trying to post more guys, promise :] Second year Animal Management kicking me in the ass, especially since my genetics exam is coming up in a few days lol
For those still invested in my blog, here's a little comprehensive list of what I've been up to lately:
I turned 18 in October!! I'm a big adult now yippee! I still need my ID sorted and such but I have my own money to spend as I want. And how have I spent it, you ask? Mostly clothes, plushies, and comic con lol. I'm going to a comic con on the 10th November with some friends who are already in university across the UK.
I've started re-reading my Akira Himekawa LoZ manga so expect a rant at some point about how much I love their manga. I think I'm gonna maybe start writing for Oath of the Forsaken again since I'm still so incredibly proud of the writing. I'm in the process of visually redesigning the characters made for it and taking a little bit of inspiration from now released games like TotK and EoW. I've also taken the time to redesign a very old, unrelated oc called Ivani and I'm really really proud of how she's turned out.
I've been drawing a lot less but there's been a considerable amount of diversity in the fandoms I've been sketching and redesigning for. TMA, LoZ, Ghost, Genshin Impact, CCCC/other AUs created by CJFS, as well as art for and by members of my system, and fashion drawings inspired by Pinterest. Most of it are inked sketches in my physical sketchbook but let me know if you wanna see more.
I've gotten into Mouthwashing and have started branching out with horror games (especially indie horror games) much more. I've taken a bit of an interest in many biology-based horror and monster designs since my entire career is based on knowing it. I'm looking into watching Zoochosis fully since I never got a chance to fully see it upon release!
I really do hope there are people on tumblr that still actually give a shit about me, so here's a post dedicated to the people that really do! I promise there will be actually interesting stuff soon and not just reblogs.
Russ ❁
#it's actually easier for me to engage in a variety of interests now instead of being super into just one at a time#my zelda interest has come back a normal amount as well as tma#ghost is lurking still since there's going to be the new album soon#and tbh cccc never really left since it's a core part of mine and my bf's relationship#since we met because of cccc#and i'm very minimally interested in genshin since i'm redesigning/rewriting it as an excuse to learn about filipino history and culture#it's why my reblogs have been super diverse now!!#i'll try posting actual stuff more now and possibly post more diverse fandom content

Hello!!
Hi there. I’m Rocky, and this is my intro post. I tend to use she/they pronouns.
I’m into hermitcraft/life series/empires type people, as well as some tma and various other things.
I’m big on trafficshipping, and will ship practically anything if given the chance.
People are pretty cool and I like to talk to them.
Why might you know me?
I write quite a bit on my ao3 and have written things such as:
“Sorry, I have a boyfriend” a mumscarian arranged marriage au.
“oh but my darling, what if you fly?” a lengthy scarian oneshot written partially in second person wherein Grian wakes up with memories of third life.
I have also been quite active on dndads tumblr in the past and retain a few mutuals! (hi)
I use the tags #rocky writes #rocky speaks and #rocky answers

20 Questions for Writers
eeee thanks for the tag @fuckyeahfang!! <3 i'm gonna tag @maraschinomerry if u wanna (no pressure tho!)
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 31! Dang I've been writing fic for a second and a half huh (Note: one of these fics is not mine lol -- I posted it for a friend without AO3)
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 77,138 -- waough
3. What fandoms do you write for? Whatever's rotting my brain most at the moment -- I had a long streak of Critical Role, which went into TMA, and I have a feeling Dunmeshi might get a few fics by the time it's done with me; also original stuff but I don't post that
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
My Lightbringer - 4,891 Hits, Critical Role
[incoming communication] - 3,018 Hits, Lifeline
little blue pills - 2,919 Hits, The Magnus Archives
The Hands-On Approach To Teaching Dunamantic Spells: A Guide by Essek Thelyss (Results may vary) - 2,271 Hits, Critical Role
Shitty Hair - 1,190 Hits, My Hero Academia
5. Do you respond to comments? I try, I really do, but sometimes I'll see one and be like "I'll reply to that later!" and then I don't and then it's been 2 years and I feel bad for replying so late that I just don't 😭 But I do read and appreciate them all I prommy
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? this would require me to finish fics EVER lmao... but seriously probably (Don't) Look Away. Do NOT read this if you haven't played Outer Wilds, but DO go and play Outer Wilds, and THEN read this.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably [incoming communication]? It's definitely the ending I'm most proud of -- it's very self indulgent, but I'm fond of it :"
8. Do you get hate on fics? nah people tend to be chill
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Sometimes, but not often, and I post it even less often. I prefer reading it to writing it, but I do like tossing around ideas I'll never write about the characters' weird and intriguing kinks lmao
10. Do you write crossovers? I don't tend to, unless they're incredibly funny to me. Reading-wise, crossovers just annoy me because there's 2x the chances for mischaracterisation/misunderstanding of the setting(s), but sometimes a really good one can scratch my brain.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not into another language, but I have had a podfic made of Cabin Fever -- which was great since it was a scriptfic anyway! It's really well made, go give it a listen!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Quite a few! Not in a while, but it's fun to work with someone whose brain ticks in synch with mine about a character or ship. I actually started dating my current partner in part because we were talking about a fic we wanted to write together! We'll get to it one day, and get sooo much hate about it it's quite fucked up LMAO
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? MAN. YOU CAN'T ASK ME THIS. it's like picking children. uhhh Shadowgast (Critical Role) is up there for All Timers but they are def not the only one. Probably the one I've thought most about, but now I'm thinking about Blupjeans (TAZ)... JMart.... augh. i love when people love each other despite the very terrible consequences
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? little blue pills! It's a fun concept -- I love fucking with the very rubbish trope of soulmate AUs and making them Weird and Queer, but I am not great at finishing projects and I have also cooled slightly on TMA since I started it.
16. What are your writing strengths? big emotions! being purple prose but like good about it! Weird People.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? finishing things, plotting, writing convincing dialogue -- yknow, just little things (🥲)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? It can be done well, but it needs to be considered deeply. Also, used sparingly. I like throwing in terms of endearment in other languages, but when it's whole conversations, it's not fun to be checking google translate/the AN every five seconds.
19. First fandom you wrote for? the first one that's still up? Layton Brothers! the first ever? harry potter 😔
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? i hate favourite questions i hate favourite questions uHHHHHH You Were My Conscience. fucked up monster lovers trying to moralise their way out of being responsible for a man's mental breakdown <3
thanks again for the tag sunny i love u mwah

Hello AAAA I saw your ruikasa tma au and if you don't mind can you share a little bit about them?? Are they connected to The Stranger and The Corruption? :0 I Need To Know More (only if you don't mind ofc),,, I love when silly little guys turn into unimaginable horrors and feed on fears or something
OMG!!! I am so happy someone asked this because it has been in my brain for months now! Okay so yeah, as one does I was trying to sort project sekai characters into the fears when it occurred to me that out of all of them, it would make the most sense if tsukasa was corruption(fear of bugs, need to be loved by all, being subjected to lots of sickness as a child even if it wasn't him who was sick, I'm sure that still left a pretty great impression on him) and then a second thing hit me which was: I'd feel so guilty making him corruption lol. So this led me to another train of thought, How can I make the corruption a little less upsetting? And then I remembered that I think about my interests 24/7 and I had already drafted a drawing of a butterfly corruption avatar so I figured I might as well use that idea there. I figured his descent would be sort of similar to jane prentice where he sort of hears the song coming except it's coming from his window and I also think the butterfly thing works here since they're a lot more palatable than other bugs. They promise give him love forever and make his dreams come true and slowly overtime he gives in. I haven't worked out all the details but I know the climax of his transformation would be at the end of a performance, he goes to bow and then sort of turns into a massive cloud of butterflies that fly away and everyone watching is really impressed by the "special effects" but the rest of wxs is horrified.
Okay so next my brain went to rui because my brain always goes to Rui. For Rui, I imagine that he already had been compelled by the stranger before. In tma, why exactly people get taken by the stranger is very vague but I do know the stranger is about otherness, something a little bit off from human. I don't really have confirmation of this in canon but considering how he was treated by his peers most of his life, specifically being excluded and called things like weird and creepy, I'd imagine that would make him feel like an other and the big thing is his machines which he literally makes to take the roll of humans at points are also very stranger. He kind of reminds me of the first account of the unknowing too. I imagine witnessing the whole incident with tsukasa might make him remember a previous account with the stranger and reignite that fear as well as tsukasa, the person who pretty much directly pulled him out of his whole "loner with only machines to support him" thing, suddenly disappearing (because I wouldn't want to kill him off :( ) would probably also contribute. I also haven't thought out all of the details for him but his design is sort of based on old wind up robot toys.
Some other vague things about the au are:
- Ena is the archivist and mizuki sort of takes the roll of martin
- Mafuyu and Kanade both are affiliated with the web
- Nene and Emu aren't associated with fears despite being very involved in my in brain idea of this au
- I think Shizuku would take the roll of the distortion but mainly because I think its funny
Ok I'm sure theres a lot more but this is definitely way to long already so ty sm for giving me the chance to ramble about this!!!!! And sorry this was a lot

Coming back to this post to reblog with the above meme and seeing the end of my own tags.
Yeah. It is, isn't it. Y'all changed me. Like you wouldn't believe.
Remembering that time I drew myself and like 5 trafficblr mutuals of mine hanging out in my living room watching Limited Life with pizza. Remembering all the spam-booping in April.
💚
This one goes out to Kingdom Come by The Civil Wars and That Unwanted Animal by The Amazing Devil. To that you get it, you understand like no one else, the same-wavelength that's made me wonder if you're me from another reality. To how I found that Ren and Lizzie fae AU, and that fic where Grian and Martyn chat about devotion, and of course Elements of an Interdimensional Prison Break. To rolling up to you with the implications of Pearl being on Evo but not appearing in the games until Last Life. To "yes I do want to hear about the animatics in your head". To seeing a Hooty pfp who's obsessed with Watcher lore and sending the link to an Owl House fansong called Eyes On You that reminds me of Last Life. To recognizing how much the Watchers would love Pearl at least in Double Life. To rescue by the Listeners, and the idea of Grian helping somehow. To Watchers controlling mobs. To where and how I first learned that PMV has a second meaning besides the MLP fandom one. To how Grian may well have thought Third Life would be his last chance ever at living as a human. To listening to Safe & Sound and imagining two Evo members who escaped, singing it to each other after Pearl goes missing sometime in between 3L and LL, trying to convince themselves and each other that they really did make it out and they won't be next, neither of them really believing it.
To the concept of Grian no longer having a physical form being a major drive for his participation in 3rd Life, wanting to feel something even if it's just pain. To the "imagine all the small things he'd never do again" thread that makes me stare into space whenever I reread it. To Grian not even knowing what he wants out of being in the Life games. To Grian and Martyn dropkicking pumpkins. To "you'll never have another chance to love them the way you do now". To a shared obsession with the concept of the Evolutionists who wound up in Third/Last Life being grieved as though they died by the ones who escaped. To the idea of Skizz trying to get help to save his friends and being recaptured for it. To Grian reflecting on the Listeners' opinions of him and if he'd even be considered someone to save in their minds. To "I'm having a day" "You and me both".
To how when I saw the void scene at the end of the Limited Life finale and I went "hey this looks familiar", and somehow didn't see a single other person bring it up in the weeks that followed, I talked about it in your inbox because I knew if there was anyone else on this webbed site who noticed, it was you.
To that drawing I did of Skizz and Pearl with the words "thought we could run forever club".
💛
This one goes out to sculk Listeners with wool cloaks and teal specks of light forming gradients on their hands. To Grian meeting the Listeners, who have a question for him. To lyrics from It Will Come Back applied to Something For The Eyes. To Martyn as Orpheus trying to rescue his Southlands friends, bring them back from the dead. To the time I sent you an ask theorizing that Gem is a Listener agent, knowing full well you'd ignore the word "agent". To sending Music Of The Fears to your TMA blog, talking about it from my TMA blog, that you never knew was me. To all the canaryblogging. To the fic title idea list we made. To the things I've seen you manage to make lore out of that I wouldn't have second-glanced. To the thread where I realized it's likely Grian did hear BigB forgiving him after all.
To Grian shielding BigB and Pearl from the eyes they can feel are Watching them, to "yeet me concepts like this all you want" leading to the sheer number of asks I've sent you with things I wanted to talk about. To Scar's pain being eaten away in his last moments by Grian. To referring to Jimmy doing missions for the Listeners as him singing. To lucid dreaming in the void between games, letting oneself briefly disconnect from the illusion and feel oneself falling just to experience something real again. To "they grieve death not because it is the end of everything but because it takes from them what should have stayed forever". To my Nosy Neighbours TMA AUs. To Grian's first meal as a Watcher being from one of his friends. To all those times where I posted something and you reblogged going feral about it.
To "desolation tags always hit" and "you really know how to make someone insane" and "all i know is desolationcleo tags now" and "i blame desolationcleo for this one" and "but i'm also insane so" "love that for us" and your tags about wanting to study my brain up close.
To that drawing I did of Martyn sitting on the Southlands walls at night, asking Jimmy what he'd do if they could escape it all.
❤️
This one goes out to a header that's an image I made based on a post of yours. To the Rescue Team theory. To dropping the link to Song Of The Hive after you finished TMA season 1. To you finding my main blog and my responding in roleplay when you indirectly ask if it's me, until I take off the hood of my cloak and confirm that yes, I'm who you're thinking of. To the songs and the poems. To first meeting by rambling about all the evidence pointing to the Watchers doing something to Pearl so they could reroll the boogeyman in Last Life. To canaryblogging at length about the Four Miners and getting the reply "how has this not blown up yet". To singing The Middle Of Nowhere together, a song I discovered when you put it on my dash that has since made it to the top 3 of my YouTube seasonal recap twice. To running up to you at once with my observation that red life Scar in season 2 meets all the requirements to be a lich. To the Hadestown lyrics. To the time you basically called me your sister. To the dream where I was back in high school and you were there and we skipped class to talk about the Life series. To "your artstyle is monchy /pos".
To the time you wrote the fansong I wished existed.
To the screaming and crying and wailing reaction images exchanged over Three, running to each other with each new chapter, ever since you came into my inbox with that fic rec. To the time I asked if anyone wanted some songs to go insane about Watcher lore to and you raised your hand at once. To two glasses of fruit juice, one for each of us.
To that drawing I did of Scar alone on the mountain with tears in his eyes, my choice of character being driven by the knowledge that the Lone Sorcerer of Magical Mountain is your blorbo supreme.

The Next Weekend - Your POV
You’re back at work, Jo having very kindly covered the shifts you’d been scheduled for during the week, so you could take the time to recover from your heat. That’s what you told Ellen and your dad, at least. Jo and Ash obviously know that there’s more to the story than just a bad cycle, but they have both been surprisingly discreet about your activities with Dean in the mating room last weekend. Jo promises that she hasn’t told Ellen anything, and apparently she’d been so tired upon her return that she hadn’t noticed one of the mating rooms being occupied. Jo had cleaned up behind you before anyone else could learn what had happened this weekend, so Ellen doesn’t have the slightest inkling that you’re no longer a virgin, and therefore can’t have informed your father of that fact either.
You know that your dad isn’t stupid, and he hasn’t totally bought your story of this cycle just being a particularly difficult one, but he hasn’t pried for information like you expected him to. He had been asleep when you arrived home Monday morning, and you’d washed yourself with half a bottle of body wash with added scent suppressant in an effort to disguise Dean’s aroma. It’s faded from all but your memory now, no trace of it lingering on your skin or at the Roadhouse. If your dad does suspect anything happened while he was on his hunt with Ellen, he hasn’t brought it up to you. Whatever the reason for his sudden respect for your boundaries, you’re grateful all the same.
The embarrassing sting of rejection is still too sharp for you. Jo has tried to ask you about what happened, but you’ve avoided giving her any kind of details. All she knows is that your weekend of marathon sex hadn’t ended with a happily ever after or a new boyfriend. A new mate, your mind supplies unhelpfully, because Dean would have been more than a boyfriend; not just a fling or a dalliance, but your true mate.
There’s a scratchy rattle in your chest every time your mind drifts in that direction, a feeling you’ve come to associate with the action of choking back the tears that come, unbidden, to your eyes each time you think of the alpha who’s abandoned you. It’s not a reaction you’ve been able to get under control. Any time the memory of Dean springs to your mind your body reacts viscerally to his absence, trying with monumental effort to alert you to the missing piece of your existence, the emptiness that allows your heart to drop from your chest into your stomach because there’s a hole inside you that by all rights shouldn’t even be there.
A hand on your shoulder makes you jump in astonishment, shouting and nearly dropping the pint glass you’ve got in your hands.
“I don’t think you could get that thing any shinier even if you sold your soul for it,” Jo quips with a meaningful look on her face, nodding to the glass that you’ve been polishing water spots off of. When you look down, you see that she’s right. It looks more like it belongs in a five-star hotel than a backroads dive bar.
“Just making sure,” you say awkwardly, not meeting her inquisitive gaze as you put the clean glass away and grab for another one from the crate you’ve been polishing.
“Right,” the blonde answers in a clipped tone, busying herself behind the bar and grabbing drinks for the table she’s just taken orders from. It’s a group of three ladies, all with the same multi-coloured patchwork on the arms of their leather jackets. Bikers, not hunters, you don’t think, but they aren’t anyone you recognise.
You’re self-conscious about being back at work, worried that someone who had been here last Friday and seen you collapse might come in again and bring up the whole Dean situation. You’re sure you must have made a pathetically memorable sight, fainting against a pool table and being carried off in the arms of an alpha old enough to be your father. A few regulars had been in that night, and you’re dreading seeing them again and facing the knowing looks or awkward questions. And what if one of them mentions the alpha to your dad? He usually stops in to have dinner and a couple drinks on the weekends that he’s home, which he is this weekend. You’re expecting him to drop by in a couple hours from now if he sticks to his usual routine.
The front doors open and you look up anxiously to see who it is. A pair of truckers that you vaguely recognise come in chatting animatedly, and you feel a small wash of relief that it isn’t anyone you remember being here last weekend. But there’s also a small barb of something you weren’t expecting to feel that shoots through your chest upon seeing the newcomers, and it takes you a moment to identify the unanticipated pain.
Disappointment.
That’s what that blunt stabbing ache reminds you of, as your guts twist uncomfortably. And you want to smack your head against the bar when you realise why you’re feeling like this: you’re disappointed that it wasn’t Dean walking through that door. How fucking pathetic is it to still want someone who rejected you so callously, the way he did? You’re disgusted with yourself for still wanting him. You should want to run him over with a semi, and you sort of do, but you would settle for just seeing him again, and that makes you angry enough to want to run yourself over with a semi.
Fuck him for making you feel like this. Fuck true mates. Fuck the whole fucking thing.
It’s probably for the best that you’re never going to see him again. You just hope that this empty longing goes away eventually. It’s fucking humiliating. Even now, you still imagine you can detect his scent on the air, the inexplicably comforting sweetness of bourbon and sandalwood underpinning the heavy stink of stale beer and fry grease and the dry winter dust of the Nebraskan desolation that drifts in on the stinging wind each time the front doors swing open.
Your stomach lurches as the door swings open again, and with a monumental effort you force yourself to not look up, focusing instead on the glasses that you’re still polishing madly, far beyond the point of necessity. Longing slashes across your chest with prickly insistence, and you find yourself beginning to choke back tears without reason for the umpteenth time this week.
He’s not coming back. You need to stop this.
The air freezes in your lungs as you berate yourself, and the glass in your grip slips through your fingers and thuds onto the counter of the bar as you clench your hand in a fist, digging your fingernails into the fleshy mound of your palm in an effort to distract your brain with a new kind of pain. Your neck is aching with the effort of keeping your head bent, refusing to look out at the bar just to see confirmation of your continued abandonment. You feel so fucking useless. What if this feeling never goes away? How could you have let someone you barely know gain this much control over you without even being in the same room. He probably isn’t even in the same fucking state. But it still feels like his presence is looming over you, his scent so clear in your mind that you feel almost as if you’re back in time, pressing close to him once again and breathing him in.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
“Hey, you should be saying that to me, not to yourself,” Dean’s deep honeyed voice speaks, and you feel a tear finally escape the cage of your lashes.
Great, you’ve officially gone insane.
“Y/N, can you look at me? Please?”
Your head shoots up in astonishment, the shock freezing your tears in their tracks. You aren’t going insane. Dean Winchester is standing in front of you, hands shoved self-consciously in his pockets, hair tousled from the brisk winds outside, cheeks burnished with a faint pink under the thick scattering of stubble, darker than you remember it. His brow is pinched, eyes narrowed in worry and pain, and those full pink lips you’ve remembered so frequently in the time you’ve spent apart are drawn and chapped. Somehow, even in his clearly haggard state, he’s still the most attractive man you’ve ever seen. Damn him.
“Hi,” Dean clears his throat awkwardly when you don’t speak.
You realise with horror that your mouth has been hanging open like a fucking cartoon character this entire time, your jaw practically resting on the bar in front of you, and you snap your lips closed, accidentally biting your tongue and wincing painfully. Dean notices, to your dismay, and winces in sympathy, but some semblance of tact—or maybe it’s just guilt—means he doesn’t comment on it.
“Why are you here?” you whisper, looking back down uncomfortably under the intensity of the alpha’s focus on you.
“Can we talk?” he asks haltingly, and it’s clear to you that Dean isn’t used to using that phrase. Considering how he’d left you last weekend, you're not the least bit surprised that he isn’t the kind of man to request a heart to heart about feelings.
“Why should I?” you ask brusquely, but it’s a facade. Every cell in your body is begging you to hear what he has to say, because the dull throb that had settled over your skin in the past week has suddenly softened, and it’s clear that Dean’s proximity is the reason for the improvement. Your brain, though, is still clinging to its last shred of self-respect. Dean looks at you seriously and takes a deep breath.
“Please?” he repeats, his voice cracking, to your great surprise. Your resolve cracks along with it.
Nodding after a final moment’s hesitation, you walk around the bar and follow Dean’s lead as he brings you outside to the parking lot, where you can talk without being overheard by the few occupied tables inside, who had all been curiously watching your exchange from the corners of their eyes. The alpha leads you towards a long black classic car, clearly an old model but looking as if it has just rolled off the lot. He opens the passenger door and steps aside, waiting. You raise an eyebrow at him in perturbation.
“I’m not getting in a car with you.”
Dean’s face falls slightly, but he shuts the door, not pushing the point.
“I just didn’t want you to be cold,” he explains.
“I’m fine,” you retort sharply, willing your anger to warm your body for you because Dean is right, it is freezing out here. “You wanted to talk, so talk,” you huff, folding your arms across your chest, and you wait.
“I’m here to apologise,” Dean admits. “What I did to you was fucked up, I never should have said what I did. I never should have bothered you in the first place,” he scoffs under his breath as an afterthought, grinding the toe of his boot into the dirt of the parking lot.
“So you’re here to apologise for sleeping with me? Thanks, that makes a girl feel special,” you bite back the tears once again threatening to make an appearance. “Sorry I was such a disappointing fuck.”
“You weren’t!” Dean looks back up at you instantly, no hint of a lie in his eyes. “Y/N, last weekend was—” he breaks off, running a hand tiredly across his face. “Last weekend was the best I’ve felt in fucking years, okay. It was… look, I’m not good with pretty words and shit when it’s something like this.” The alpha looks at you despairingly, obviously struggling to articulate himself.
“Something like what?”
“Something that matters.”
The weight of Dean’s words settles uneasily between the pair of you. He’s waiting for you to say something, and help him direct the conversation, but you don’t know where you want this to go. You’re still angry, of course you are, but here is Dean, standing in front of you with an apology. He came back for you, just like you’d fallen asleep wishing for every night since he’d left. Except… he hasn’t said that he’s come back to be with you. All he’s said is that he’s here to apologise.
“Why are you here?” you ask again, and confusion lights up Dean’s eyes.
“To say sorry,” he repeats.
“You have my number, you could have texted me. Or called,” you point out. “Why did you come back here?”
Dean’s throat pulses as he swallows thickly, eyes darting away from you and back again as if he’s considering making another abrupt exit, but he stands his ground and launches into a breathless explanation of what the past week has been like for him.
Dean knows this is gonna sound bad, but Y/N probably already thinks he’s the biggest asshole on the planet—and she’s probably right—so he doesn’t see the point in coming up with some lie to paint himself in a better light. He’s here to eat crow and ask for a second chance, he deserves the humiliation that telling his omega this story is going to bring him.
Fuck, when did I start thinking of her as my fucking omega?
He has no right to think of Y/N like that. Not yet. They may be true mates, as reluctant as Dean is to admit it, but she hasn’t agreed to take him back yet. He may have to resign himself to a life of pain and misery. Maybe he can just let a werewolf tear his heart out for him and be done with it—unless Y/N kills him first for treating her the way he did. He wouldn’t blame her.
“So I, uh,” Dean focuses on Y/N’s hard eyes, her expression cowing him into his embarrassing explanation. “When I left on Monday, I was in a pretty bad way still, with my rut, I mean. The need, it… it turned into some of the worst pain I have ever felt in my life.” He saw Y/N’s lips twitch in an almost self-righteous smirk. “And really, for a guy like me, that’s saying something, because I’ve almost died more times than I can even remember at this point.”
Y/N’s brows shoot up quizzically, and she opens her mouth to ask more about what that meant, but Dean holds up a hand to pause her. He needs to get through this, then she can grill him all she wants. Quietly, she sinks back onto her heels and the energy that had shone from her expression fizzles back into its former forced stagnation as she nods for Dean to continue. He shoots her a grateful half-smile and ploughs on.
“I’ve never had a rut that bad before. I’ve been alone for ruts as often as I’ve been with an omega for them, and it has never been as excruciating as it was this past week. Every single part of my body felt like it was trying to pull apart from each other and walk itself right back here. I had to pull over on the road between here and Omaha god knows how many times to—” Dean breaks off, clears his throat.
“Well, you know.” He hurries on, seeing the embarrassed flush on Y/N’s cheeks that he’s sure is echoed on his own. “I couldn’t shake it, so I went to find some… help. But I couldn’t… I didn’t…” Fuck why was this so hard to get through? He just needs to fucking spit it out already.
“You couldn’t find an omega to help you?” Y/N asks, clearly not believing him. “But you’re—” this time it’s the omega who breaks off and clears her throat in embarrassment, and Dean wonders what she had been about to say.
“No, I mean, I found someone.” Dean drags his hands over his face, tugging on his hair as if the pain will somehow distract him from the pain of this admission. “I couldn’t get it up.”
There’s dead silence between them for a beat, and as Dean looks up from his hands, he sees Y/N staring at him blankly. She’s not laughing at his lack of manhood, or smirking at his pain—both possibilities he has been expecting—she’s simply looking at him. It dawns on him a moment later that Y/N had been a virgin until last weekend, and has had very limited dating experience from what she’d told him. She doesn’t understand why this is a big deal, or why it brought him to the realisation that it did.
“I had been constantly hard for about twenty-four hours, despite my several roadside stops,” Dean grits his teeth at the painful memories. “I was desperate. The fleshlight wasn’t doing jack shit, my whole body felt like it was burning up. Fucking an omega should have fixed it. But I couldn’t get hard with her. My body wouldn’t let me, no matter how much I needed the relief, I couldn’t do it,” he pushes as much gravity into his words as he can manage, praying that Y/N will understand what that means.
“So you came back to me because you couldn’t fuck another omega?” Y/N asks bitterly, kind of getting what he’s talking about but still missing the point.
“I couldn’t do it because you were right,” Dean sighs heavily, letting himself sink back against the side of the Impala, his muscles sagging in defeat as he admits what he’s been dreading to say. “I think you were right about us, about being true mates. I can’t think of any other reason why I wouldn’t be able to sleep with someone else. My body knew that it was wrong, that it wouldn’t help the rut end any more than the fleshlight, because neither one of them was you.”
The look Y/N is giving him can be described as nothing more than an epic bitch face, and once again, Dean is painfully reminded of the little brother that he’s spent so long trying to move on from. It’s just another way for the universe to tell him that this girl has been made for him somehow. Like it’s giving him back some part of his long-lost brother in this small way, through the presence of a new person to love as unconditionally as he had loved Sammy. Not that he’s fallen in love with Y/N or anything, they still barely know each other.
“Okay, I’m still hearing that you’ve come back because you think I’m the only person your body will let you have sex with,” Y/N scoffs, and Dean berates himself for not being able to explain this better.
“No, it’s… that’s just why I realised you’re probably right about the being true mates thing. I came back to apologise for freaking out at you about it, and yeah maybe to see… to see if there’s something else here between us. To see if I haven’t monumentally screwed this up.” Dean feels a spark of hope brighten in his chest as he watches Y/N consider his words.
“Are you…” Y/N stops, thinking for a moment before pressing on with her question. “Are you worried about being true mates because… you’re gay?” she asks hesitantly, shifting uncomfortably between her two feet. Dean blinks at her in astonishment before bursting into laughter, and the omega fixes him with another bitch-face. “It’s just, you mentioned that there was another guy before. And you thought…”
Dean calms down his laughter enough to interrupt. “It’s fine, I’m not hung up by the fact that you’re a girl,” he reassures her, and he sees Y/N relax a little bit. “There’s a lot of things about this that made me hesitate, but I promise your pussy ain’t one of them.”
Flirting at this stage is risky, Dean knows. He doesn’t want Y/N to get angry at him again, or think that this is only about the sex, but the comment makes her duck her head and look down through her lashes in a very pretty show of modesty, and Dean feels his dick twitch in his jeans at the reminder of her innocence. Taking heart that she hasn’t left him standing alone in the parking lot, or told him to get lost or go fuck himself, the alpha takes a wary step forward, closing the small distance between them.
Carefully, he lifts the omega’s chin on his fingers, bringing her gaze up to meet his, and he sees a recognisable flash of heat in her expression. The same wave of desire washed over him when he touched her.
“Why are you scared of loving?” Y/N asks him quietly, and Dean is taken aback at her straightforward assessment. “I’m not saying that I’m in love with you,” she rushes to clarify, misinterpreting the discomfort that Dean can feel twisting on his face.
“No, I know,” he nods, soothing her outburst. He drops his fingers from her face and instead takes one of her hands between the both of his, squeezing gently. “But you’re right, I am, and that’s what made me uncomfortable about the idea of having a true mate. Because you’re supposed to fall in love with them,” Dean shakes his head and smiles wryly. “And the last time I was in love with someone, I was your age.”
“Ah,” Y/N’s face pinches. “It’s the age thing? That’s the problem?”
“That, and the fact that I don’t exactly have a great life,” Dean sighs. “The idea of dragging you around on the road with me… and I’d probably be putting you in danger if I did. It just doesn’t seem fair. I still don’t really know how any of this would work out,” he admits uncomfortably. “I just, I wanted to come back to see if there was even a chance that it might.”
“Can I ask you a question?” Y/N is looking at his hands, big and calloused and clearly age-worn compared to her soft, unmarred skin and neat fingernails.
“Yeah, shoot.”
“Are you a hunter?” The omega looks up at him and smiles when their eyes meet, probably laughing at the gobsmacked expression that Dean can feel on his face.
“How the fuck do you know that?” he asks incredulously.
“I guessed,” she shrugs. “But what you said about almost dying a load of times, and being on the road, putting me in danger… It wasn't a hard leap.” Dean is still looking at her in astonishment. “My dad is a hunter,” she adds by way of an explanation, and now it makes sense to Dean. “And the Roadhouse is sort of a hunter’s way-station. Did you not know that? I thought maybe that’s why you stopped here.”
“No, I had no idea,” Dean shakes his head, looking back at the bar with newfound appreciation. “How about that.”
“So, you were worried that I would freak out if I knew you hunted monsters for a living?” Y/N smiles up at him in amusement.
“Uh, yeah,” Dean scoffs. “It’s usually a pretty big shock for most people.”
“Well, that’s one issue out of the way then. Good first step,” she looks up at him hopefully, the last statement almost more of a question, and Dean nods.
“Yeah,” he agrees. “Obviously, there’s a lot more we’ve gotta talk about, but I’m willing to give this a shot if you are.” Dean holds his breath, heart thundering in his chest. Its beats echo so loudly in his ears that he nearly misses Y/N’s quiet breath of ‘yes’.
Instinctively, he draws the omega—his omega—into his arms and kisses her soundly. The girl melts against his chest, letting Dean wrap her up in him. The passion of the kiss quickly gets out of hand. Y/N’s hands are pressing into his chest, her weight urging him backward, and he spins them to slam the girl’s back against the side of his car, grinding their bodies together and sliding their lips and tongues together until the lack of air in his lungs becomes problematic. They break apart panting heavily, Dean resting his forehead on hers and allowing himself to breathe in her scent.
“At least we know we’re good at this part,” he chuckles, only slightly embarrassed by how raspy his voice sounds compared to a moment ago. Y/N giggles and kisses him again, light and chaste, and much more sweetly, and Dean sinks into the serenity of it, feeling more calm than he has in a very long time. Deciding to indulge himself, he breaks the kiss and trails smaller kisses over Y/N’s cheek and down her neck, brushing his nose over her mating gland and enjoying the needy intake of breath it causes.
The fresh, sharp aromas of salt and citrus are all as he remembers them, mixed up with the caramel sweetness and spicier undertones that become stronger when she’s aroused. His dick twitches in appreciation. But there’s something just a little different to the tones than how he remembers them. There’s an earthy quality, grassy or smoky… oily? It’s familiar but not because he remembers smelling it on her before.
The slam of a car door, breaks the focus the Dean and Y/N have for each other, and they both jump at the noise, looking around for its source. The newcomer is staring at the couple, still pressed indecently against Dean’s muscle car, making it obvious what had been happening between them only moments before.
“Dean?” the man speaks in a hoarse whisper, confirming what Dean couldn’t quite believe. Sam. Sam is standing in front of him after all these years. Sam. He feels like he can’t get any air into his lungs, and he peels himself off of Y/N in an effort to give his lungs space to expand.
“Dad?” the omega squeaks, and Dean looks around in confusion. No one else is in the parking lot besides himself, Y/N and Sam. And Y/N has just said ‘dad’.
My dad’s a hunter.
There’s the sound of a safety clicking out of place, and Dean turns around again to see Sam levelling a gun steadily at his head.
“Step the fuck away from my daughter.”

(will there ever stop being an abundance of tma time travel au potential?) anyways: time travel au set now -- at the end of season 5 -- where the main season 5 crew (jon, martin, basira, melanie, georgie) end up going back to either destroy the fears or try and prevent the ritual from ever happening, instead of making a decision that could doom their world and others. they all wake up like circa 2016 and start meeting frequently in the tunnels of the archives to try and figure out a plan, while avoiding the hell out of elias to try and keep melanie and basira and georgie from being trapped at the institute too.
but you know who doesn't go back? tim and sasha. because in season 5, they're dead. so in 2016, the two of them are left with an immense amount of whiplash in the wake of this, left wondering what the hell happened to jon and martin -- one of whom they were pretty close friends with before all this happened, and the other of whom they were growing close to -- but now they're both being distant and acting strange (hiding things and getting emotional)... and not only that, but they seem to like each other now, seemingly out of nowhere. (tim and sasha find them hugging in jon's office once, and the sight is pretty startling on multiple levels.) jon's started collecting fire extinguishers and taking them down into the tunnels, and he doesn't assign anyone field work re: follow ups (especially the carlos vittery statement; he and martin both panic when that one comes up). martin spends half his time in jon's office even though neither of them seem to be doing any work, but when he does come out, he asks strange questions about how much tim and sasha like working here, and if they'd want to quit (they've both said yes at previous times, but always in a casual way -- never with this deadly seriousness and sadness that martin has). sasha mentions going to artifact storage to pick something up, and jon and martin both panic in equal, abrupt measure that startles the hell out of her. and they've both started killing spiders, with a ferocity that is genuinely startling to see in martin, who isn't lecturing jon on their importance to the ecosystem anymore.
maybe this would've be so weird if it weren't for the visitors that start coming to the archives, not to leave statements but apparently to talk to jon? three women, two of whom are the host of ghost hunt uk and the host of what the ghost -- this is weird, but it's weirder how they react to tim and sasha, especially tim -- the youtuber and the woman martin introduces as basira keep shooting tim odd, startled looks like they're surprised he's there. and sasha; melanie king keeps staring at sasha like she's seeing a ghost. this is unusual, because tim and sasha don't remember these friends -- they didn't think jon and martin had many outside friends, much less internet famous ones, and they don't understand why they're spending so much time in the archives. (tim jokes, once, that they spend so much time there, they might as well work there -- six assistants makes even less work, right, boss? -- and they react a little like he's hit them.) or why the five of them kept sequestering off in the tunnels under the archives -- there are tunnels under the archives? (yes, tunnels jon and martin randomly open and pour five full fire extinguishers into one day. how the hell did they know they were there?) the five of them spend hours in the tunnels, without ever inviting tim or sasha -- sasha tries to listen at the trapdoor, but she doesn't get much of anything. whatever they're discussing, they don't want tim and sasha to hear.
and that's not to mention how all of them react to elias. elias starts hanging out in the archives more often, hovering around tim and sasha, and asking questions they can't answer, after jon's and martin's friends start showing up three or four times a week. jon and martin have started being more hostile towards elias -- surprising, considering jon's original attempts to impress elias, but it makes more sense than how basira, melanie, and georgie react. on the few times they actually interact with elias, they clearly have a lot of contempt for him, vicious contempt that makes no sense. (once, tim swears he hears melanie mutter something about wishing they'd killed elias when they had the chance???) tim's half paranoid they're all going to be fired. but at this point, he's wondering if maybe that would be a good thing.
it's clear jon and martin are hiding things, something serious, something odd and maybe even dangerous. tim's more concerned; sasha is more angry. she starts wanting to investigating, starts asking pushing questions. steals the key to the tunnels from jon's office and asks tim to go and investigate it with her. if there's something wrong, really wrong, neither of them understand why jon wouldn't just tell them. they're friends -- or, they thought they were friends.
(meanwhile, martin and jon are panicking on the daily about how they're going to save tim and sasha in all of this. they barely know how to interact with them now, after everything, and clearly hiding things has only made it worse. but how can they explain, now? what if tim and sasha don't believe them? what if they just hate them after the explanation -- what if they already hate them? what if telling tim and sasha puts them in danger, puts them in the path of anything or anyone that might oppose them -- breekon and hope are still coming, the circus is still out there -- what if they lose sasha and tim a second time?? but what if not telling puts them in more danger -- what if they lose tim and sasha to ignorance instead of knowledge?
they don't know what to do. they are very stressed. melanie has told them to get over themselves and just explain about a dozen times.)

OH MY GOD!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!! IM AHkcjzkahskshkabzao WOWOOWOWOWOWOOOOOOO
OKAY OKAY SO!!!!
We haven't figured out the reason yet (possibly a disease or something? Maybe??) but the premise of this AU is that Killer goes absolutely fucking insane. Just. Completely gone. He's just not there anymore.
(tw for a LOT of death, description of murder, handling a corpse thoughts of suicide, and stuff like that below the cut, also body horror in the picrews. Seriously, DO NOT read of you're sensitive to that stuff or not in a good mindset.)
All of the main crew (Nm, Killer, Dust, Horror, Cross, Error, Dream, Ink, and Blue) live relatively close together. Killer, in this completely insane mental state, goes to each of their houses and murders them. Yes, we planned a description of how each of them died because of how their ghost appearances are.
Dream - His death was the quickest. He was the first Killer visited. Killer first tried to off him with his bare hands, but that didn't work, so he just snapped Dream's neck.
Ink - Killer was smarter this time; He got a weapon. A knife, specifically. Killer, between his frenzy and Ink fighting back, made a gash in his mouth, causing it to be opened almost all the way to the ear. Then, with Ink passed out from pain, Killer stabbed him straight in the heart.
Blue - Similarly to Ink's altercation, Blue fought back. Blue (along with Cross) is very strong, as he's been training alongside Cross to be a bodyguard in this AU. In the fight, Killer was pushed back, but he already had his knife close to Blue's face, and this resulted in his lower eyelid being sliced down to the middle of his cheek. Blue, disoriented, cradled his face, giving Killer a chance to strike him down.
Nightmare - Nightmare would be one of the harder ones to strike down, and Killer knew it. So Killer snuck into his house, and threw together a concoction of random household chemicals throw at Nightmare. He put this deadly mixture in a bottle, and rushed at Nightmare, throwing it at him. Nightmare was stunned, the chemicals searing his face. Killer took the chance to knock him down, stabbing him multiple times.
Horror - Killer knew he wouldn't be able to take on Horror's strength, he was pretty muscular. So Killer got some gasoline, threw it at Horror, lit a match and threw it at him, allowing him to burn to death.
Cross - Cross was asleep at the time of Killer's arrival. So, Killer took advantage of this. And instead of just killing him, he tortured him. Slowly and definitely painfully. Of course Cross woke up after the first slice on his cheek. He was cut from the right side of his face down to his right shoulder.
Error - Error definitely put up a fight, but Killer slashed, and he slashed hard. Error died of blood loss during the fight.
Dust - Dust was the last of the victims. He was dismembered. Killer, at the end of the dismemberment, snapped out of his frenzy. He was still unstable, however. He tried to "put Dust back together." Of course, it didn't work. All he was doing was rearranging the body parts.
Killer, after realizing what he'd done to everyone, was very tempted to take his own life. But, once he realized he was being haunted by the ghosts of his victims, he decided to live with the hauntings as a punishment to himself.
Picrew time! All of them are ghosts except for Killer.

That's basically it! Oh, and the picrew link:
(this AU was not inspired by TMA, we just used the picrew bc it had the body horror elements)
