These last three months were a whole Novel I swear. All the things that happened to me. All the emotions I felt. All the people I met. A whole plot diagram with an exposition, rising action, falling action and resolution. The last chapter (of this novel) is now.
#I had a whole arc of fighting with the kids all the way to now where I feel sad that I won’t get to see them anymore#but I think. I think I had this whole arc by myself lol#to them. I’m sure they could care less they are 8th graders#I made a lot of new friends#a romance arc for like. the week in which I tried to find someone for my friend to marry lol#and also suffered my biggest nightmare#and renewed my love for the people around me who were with me during that time#now I’m just tired#I’m tired and sad and I want to start anew but I want to rest#I will def miss those kids. I have always been horrible at expressing my love to ppl#so ofc instead I will write little notes for them instead#tldr I am really sad now that I’m really leaving and am shocked at the sadness it was 300% unexpected#I thought I would be so happy to leave#but I will miss all the people#that I got to see everyday#💔#farewells are always so difficult for me so I always try to not be known by people as much and just blend in to the background#but I always forget to account for the fact that people can still enter my heart even though I am keeping walls around me#💭.txt

CHAMI!
ive been meaning to ask you this ever since you said you're reading the pjo/hoo/toa/*imsert rr acronym here*. what's your favorite character so far, excluding percy and annabeth? (im excluding them simply bc they're everyone's favorite. it's hard not to love them)
my favorite from the moment i read hoo, was always jason grace. i thought he was the coolest. the lightning powers, the roman-ness, the being raised by wolves for a year, the way he could make practical decisions even if they were kinda callous. (see: leaving nico in yhe jar) god i still remember the shock of coming online for the first time and realizing that everyone hated him. it really does suck that rr had no interest in developing his and the romans backstories.
tldr: who's your favorite character? what do you think about jason? and lastly, what's your biggest issue with rr's writing?
as always, sending you lots of love! <33333
Lmao I’m sorry I forgot about this ask until right now 😬 ok but now to answer your question my favorite (aside from Percy because Percy is the best) has to be the a tie between Nico and Hazel, I just love the Hades kids and their stories, they have such sad backstories but they’re doing their best (eventually, yes I am looking at you Nico, you know what you did, not you Hazel, you’re an angel and we’re so glad you’re here). Also the fact that their powers are absolutely badass and I love to see them showing off during a fight.
I love Jason, not gonna lie I was kinda angry at him too during that whole thing with Nico, but then I remember he was basically raised as a soldier so it makes sense why he said that, but also later on he is such a good friend to Nico. He definitely deserved better and I am so sad he had to die (absolutely hated Hera crying about him tho like bitch you were the cause of 99% of his problems the fuck are you crying for????)
I think my biggest issue with the writing is that sometimes it does feel too fanfic, like sometimes the story advances way too fast and we don’t get the development we could on the characters, then again this is a kids book series so it is understandable they need to keep their attention.
#pjo#nico di angelo#hazel lavesque#my children#I want to cover them with a blanket and give them tea#Hazel standing in front of her older tiny brother at the counter of Mc Donalds#he asked for no pickles#me holding the hades kids in my palm#I just think that they’re neat#Bianca deserves better tho#I wonder what her powers would had been if she had been allowed to survive#that’s probably another thing I hated from the books#Bianca was just there to give Nico trauma and advance the story and that sucks

I made the decision to watch all of the Case Files of Jeweler Richard in a day and I am ABSOLUTELY LOSING MY FUCKING MIND
(Technically I’ve watched up to episode 11 so I have 1 more episode left but am leaving it until tomorrow because it’s 1 AM right now- but I digress)
Spoilers for up to episode 10 of the anime, and apologies because I don’t know how to do read more on mobile so LONG POST:
Okay so FIRST OFF- On the cover this show isn’t explicit in that it has LGBTQ themes- it’s not labeled as such or with BL or Shounen Ai, the usual genre titles we see in anime. However, when I first tried to watch it a few months ago, within the opening minute I just knew (I just forgot to continue after that first minute until today). A lot of times with anime you can just tell things based on the art style or the dialogue, and if it doesn’t end up having those themes, then you get a situation like Balance: Unlimited where all of Twitter was tweeting “wait, it isn’t a BL???”
That being said, this series DOES have LGBTQ themes, one of the early side characters talks about how she doesn’t want to go through with her marriage because she realized she’s a lesbian or bisexual and is still in love with her old roommate. Another character expresses thoughts about romance and marriage in ways that I’m sure people who are asexual or a romantic can identify with. And this isn’t just with the side characters, oh no. The entire show is centered around the relationship of Richard and Seigi, and oh my god is it wild in how it is presented.
If you go on the wiki for this show, as my sister and I did, you’ll see a sentence along the lines of “Richard and Seigi frequently compliment each other’s beauty and say how much they like one another, to the point that everyone around them believes them to be in a relationship. However it’s unclear if their words are romantic or not.” And then if you go to their relationship page on the wiki, it just says Seigi is Richard’s boyfriend. So what’s the truth? (TLDR: the wiki is right. They’re definitely in love.)
Well the thing that had me rolling is that Seigi says he likes rich. A lot. Specifically throws around the “daisuki” line almost every episode. He says Richard is like a jewel, calls him beautiful and pretty. Richard picks him up in the rain after being dumped. They go alone to fancy restaurants for dinner almost every night. They flirt. It feels almost undeniable that what they’re saying is romantic, and that any kiss confirmation is unnecessary. There is a major plot line during all this though of Seigi trying to ask out his female college classmate however, and the result makes it sort of feel like Richard and Seigi are together but they’re in this open relationship with no labels so Richard just wants Seigi to have no regrets. The plot with the classmate really doesn’t do anything to their relationship. Richard and Seigi still are being as wild as ever.
And the reason I refer to this as being “wild” is partially because while watching my sister and I were riffing on the dialogue a little. For an anime, the show is very progressive in it’s ideas, Richard in episode 1 or 2 straight up calling Seigi out for something he said about a foreign customer and making him promise to not discriminate or judge anyone for their race, religion, sexual orientation, appearance, etc. (My sister literally joked “DONT BE RACIST” and then her jaw dropped when Richard said just that). There’s a multitude of moments in the first half of the show where Richard basically is just glaring at Seigi or telling him off later with a deadpanned expression for being xenophobic or just blunt about things that end up being rude to customers, and it’s because of how surprising it is that the show NEVER misses a moment to be like “YEAH ACTUALLY DON’T BE RUDE” that makes it hilarious. It feels almost unreal when everything you make a joke about happens two seconds afterwards.
Circling back to Richard and Seigi relationship though, early on I called on the idea that the show was going to have the trope of “he’s rich and from Europe so he’s illegitimate or something and he’s going to have to go back and Seigi will run after him in this big airport scene” and I basically got all that. Except that Richard and Seigi don’t meet up again until they’ve both been in England for a while and then we learn that Richard’s family are terrible people because a clause in their dead great grandfather’s inheritance made it so only Richard can inherit this 300 million pound Diamond but ONLY if he married a traditional English housewife. This clause is said to be VERY VERY strict in that it HAS to be an English housewife to the LETTER. And she must be TRADITIONAL. Of course, Richard is refusing to do this. So you’re watching them mess around in England for a bit, I got another cliche/trope I wanted when Seigi fell sick and Richard had to care for him in the hotel room, before the characters suddenly get a phone call and Richard’s cousin goes:
“Hey Seigi! Guess what? Turns out you qualify for the marriage clause! Despite being Asian, the will and the law consider a homosexual civil partnership equivalent to a heterosexual marriage, so you can be with Richard and then he get’s the Diamond! So I’ll see you at the safe where the Diamond will be at!”
(I’m paraphrasing the words obviously but the part about civil partnership was what I specifically remember being said, but forgive me for any errors, as my jaw was on the floor when the show threw that curveball at me).
In case you’re confused, I’m not saying this is bad at all. I’m just saying when watching this show, it feels UNBELIEVABLY HILARIOUS the way these things literally get thrown at the audience. Stuff you would never expect in an anime just punch you in the face repeatedly and I was so shocked from this “viable marriage candidate” twist that I did SENSE was coming (but thought of it more of as a joke, BECAUSE HOW THE HECK DID HE FIT THE CLAUSE OF A TRADITIONAL ENGLISH HOUSEWIFE) I had to pause the episode and rush to spit out the water I just drank before I choked. And if this wasn’t enough to kill me, we learn later on, that the reason this whole crazy clause happened in this dead man’s will was because he wanted to get back at the rest of Richard’s family because the man’s son was marrying a woman from Sri Lanka and LITERALLY SAID “THE WHITE SUPERMACISTS” WOULD HARASS HER so all of this chaos was to give the fortune to their side of the family and piss off the racists. I just cannot believe I’m hearing and seeing all this in a Japanese anime. There was even discussion of how Japan’s traditional gender roles restrict women, and it’s just like HOW IS THIS SHOW SO PROGRESSIVE??? It literally feels like I’m watching a paradox and it’s sad because it shouldn’t but it’s hilarious and enjoyable all the same.
Once again, and sort of a TLDR, The Case Files of Jeweler Richard is an incredible show. It’s an unintentionally hilarious ride that isn’t baiting because it feels like it’s definitely presenting Richard and Seigi’s relationship as romantic coded without needing a kiss or anything. It’s strangely progressive and open minded for Japanese media, seems meta at times, and has left me stunned in ten out of twelves episodes thus far that I’m so sad I didn’t watch it week to week to see the reactions of the fans live. I highly recommend this series if you’re looking for something to just get you to laugh or just a fun story involving two male leads with great chemistry.
Now, here’s a representation of me watching this show:

OBEY ME! LESSON 56 DETAILED SUMMARY AND DISCUSSION/THEORIES
*I wrote this days after the lesson was first posted and never bothered to go back and edit it so meaning there will be me theorizing about the next lesson as well
*I write a small para for each chapter and I write it immediately after finishing that chapter so there’ll be theorizing about the next chapter too
*I swear more than usual here
*Some of the dialogue is heavily plagiarized and a few is lifted directly from the story, the game is to figure which is which.
*Summaries and Discussions/theories for all the other lessons can be found on this blog under #obey me spoilers or #my theories or #my headcanons
This has one locked lesson cause of course it does
Belphie’s upset that their names got called on the loudspeaker as if they were the lost children and not Diavolo. MC says the others won’t let them ever live this down if they found out and Belphie says he’ll be teased for centuries. Belphie tells a story about how he once got lost in the Celestial Realm and spent hours in a tree crying, MC asks why he was on a tree, and he says cause he thought he’s be able to see the direction of the celestial palace from there. It had eventually been Raphael who found him and he ended up taking a liking to the tree so he would climb it and nap up there whenever he wanted to avoid work. MC asks whether he like Raphael. Belphie says he never thought about it either way but that Raphael always looked like he had it rough (course he did – he had to try to get Belphie and his brothers under control cause Lucifer was much more lenient those days. I’ve mentioned this before but I’m certain that Lucifer blames his leniency as what got Lilith killed and that’s why he’s unreasonably strict with the brothers now) MC asks what Raphael was like – he says he worked hard for little reward and his job was looking after Michael’s needs no matter how unreasonable (and they really are the Lucifer and Diavolo of the Celestial Realm aren’t they!?). He was meticulous and methodical and he always had a sullen, irritated look making him always seem like he was in a bad mood. And his evil eye looked so evil you could almost mistake him for a demon. Belphie says he hasn’t seen him in a ling time and wonders how he’s doing. Belphie says all this with a smile on his face and this is the first time we’ve heard someone talk about Raphael in a positive light and this supports my theory that Belphie sees the Celestial Realm in a more positive light than the others probably do (which is why he irrationally directed all his anger at the humans). I’m also 10% certain the person Simeon was meeting with was Raphael not Michael cause I don’t think we’ve heard Belphie mention Michael once so it makes sense that they would have him recognise the angel he would later talk about. They get to the desk and Belphie goes to give their names but MC cuts in with ‘snoozy’ before he can say his. The employee comments on the name and Belphie blushes and says it’s embarrassing and asks MC to stop laughing about it. The employee gives them the note which happens to be a ransom note. Lol this guy is fucked.
Belphie complains about Barbatos failing to teach Diavolo not to walk off with strangers (in my very first theory/headcanon posts I compared Barbatos and Diavolo’s relationship to the one between Alfred and Bruce Wayne and I completely stand by that. I think Barbatos is significantly older than Diavolo the same way Lucifer’s significantly older than his brothers and similar to Lucifer and his brothers I think Barbatos had a hand in raising Diavolo. Given that we now know that Barbatos might have powers that rivalled the demon king it’s possible that he may be as old as him, or just slightly younger, than him as well. Tldr; Barbatos gives off heavy Alfred Pennyworth vibes). Belphie doesn’t want to deal with this and MC says they can’t just ignore it (also they will be murdered twice over if they do) and Belphie says he knew they’d say that and agrees to humour this stupid fucking human. He says he doesn’t wanna get tortured by Lucifer and Barbatos but the idea of going and rescuing Diavolo like one of his good little pawns makes him sick too. They head to the circus tent and are greeted by a happy and beaming Diavolo sitting on a chair with a man holding a gun to his head and demanding money (what a fucking amateur ass kidnapper at least give ‘em time to go and get the money! What you think people just walk around with wads of cash in their pockets!?) Belphie ignores him and scolds Diavolo for just waiting around for them to come get him and for leaving them in the first place. The man panics and tells them to stop moving closer unless they want him to shoot Diavolo. Diavolo also ignores the man , apologising and saying with a bright smile after the ride he was feeling sick and this man stopped and checked he was alright. Diavolo calls the man considerate cause he promised to help diavolo find the two of them and look! He kept his promise! Bsdjfjibvdmck this poor fucking kidnapper… Belphie groans and asks Diavolo if he even realises what’s going on rn and says even after being from a royal family he can’t be this sheltered and oblivious. The man’s just getting more stressed at how no one here seems to care about him as he keeps screaming about being serious and blowing Diavolo’s head off his shoulders (This poor guy – even MC who’s lived the most normal life from the three of them has faced more threatening life or death situations to give a shit). Belphie just tells the man to shut up with the most bored expression on his face. He then transforms into his demon form resulting in the man screaming his head off. Belphie just tells the man he talks too much, casually asking if he should make it so that no one has to ever listen to the man run his mouth again. The man stutters, calls Belphie a monster and tells him to stay back and panicking points his gun at Belphie. MC either using their very on magic creates a wind (called ‘wind of protection’) strong enough that it stops the bullet when he shoots or a raging fire (called ‘fire of judgment’) that takes over the bottom of the screen that’s powerful enough that it actually melts the bullet mid-flight and then rushes to the man making him scream and making the whole screen flash red (I had a moment of ‘HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT DID MC JUST BURN A MAN ALIVE!? DID ALL THIS LEAD UP TO MC COMMITING MURDER!? WHY AM I LOWKEY EXCITED!?’) but no the guy’s still alive, I think the fire just made him move back from all of them. (but can we talk about how powerful MC’s own magic is and how it seems to be at its most powerful when they’re protecting the people they love? (like when they unconsciously counteracted all the curses in the reaper’s cave that should have killed the brothers, or when they saw Satan use a healing spell once and were later able to effectively use it on Mammon later despite the fact that the were having trouble picking up the spells Satan was actually trying to teach them). The man screams asking what the two of them are (ajfkjfcijzh didn’t Solomon say just last lesson that they were supposed to keep this all secret!!!!???) Belphie says bullets can’t actually harm him but he still smiles and thanks them. Diavolo seemingly in shock says that the man fired his gun at Belphie and that he was trying to hurt Belphie (despite the fact that Diavolo knows a gun wouldn’t hurt Belphie it’s the fact that the man didn’t know that and had the intention to hurt Belphie that sticks with him and I think that means a lot), A pale purple aura starts swirling around him and he instantly transforms into his demon form, looking furious and screaming “HOW DARE YOU…!” The man screams.
The man drops his gun and runs away. Diavolo says, serious for once, that they can’t let him run away and that he’ll contact Barbatos to get the royal army and – (bro you’re gonna start a war bro chill), Belphie says he can’t bring the army here he might accidently bring about the destruction of the humans (funny how a couple yrs ago Belphie would have been all for this plan) and Diavolo looks sad saying he can’t just let this go. MC and Belphie both get Diavolo to try and calm down, with Belphie telling Diavolo he wasn’t hurt and transforming back to his human form, before saying that Diavolo didn’t need to transform as well & that if Lucifer and Barbatos find out Belphie’ll get in trouble. Diavolo transforms back and says the man tried to harm a dear friend and he couldn’t help but get angry. Belphie blushes and can’t come up with words. MC teases Belphie asking if he’s blushing and he denies it while still blushing. Diavolo also notes that he’s flushed and is worried that it’s a sign that he’s been hurt somehow. Still blushing Belphie says he’s not hurt and to stop worrying about him and that they should leave. Diavolo says since they’re here at the circus tent they should watch the circus perform since Belphie likes human world circuses. Belphie’s surprised and asks Diavolo how he knows that, Diavolo says Lucifer told him a long time ago, Belphie asks why and Diavolo says when they’re alone Lucifer talks a lot about his brothers, specially Belphie (Lucifer also has random pictures of his brothers that he takes without them knowing as they go about their daily life… This man is such a proud dad. He pulls out his wallet and a whole roll of pictures unfold all the way to the floor and across the room and he’ll tell the story behind each picture to anyone who listens.) He’s also told Diavolo about Belphie’s favourite tree in the Celestial Realm and the story of how he found that tree. Back then Lucifer always thought whenever Belphie wasn’t with his siblings he’d be up in the tree napping or down in the human world watching the circus and that’d made diavolo determined to see the circus too. Diavolo then asks if they can see the circus together. Belphie’s still shocked but then he blushes again and agrees. Inside Belphie and Diavolo are both clinging to MC as they cheer, scream and argue about the safety of the trapeze artist. MC can ask Diavolo if he wants them to cover his eyes cause he’s scared for her safety despite Belphie telling him there’s a net, ask Belphie if he wants to hold their hand cause he’s just as nervous or excited or comment to no one how they’ve got a demon attached to both their arms.
It’s night out and as a reward for coming to get Diavolo Belphie was allowed to pick all the rides they went on, Diavolo looks like he’s gone through hell, stuttering and asking if that was all. Diavolo asks how MC’s doing they say they threw up in a bin and are feeling better now (or they can say they had fun) Diavolo says he threw up in so many bins he lost count. He asks if they should head home and Belphie says there’s one last thing he wants to ride, Diavolo starts stuttering again. Belphie says it’s the ferris wheel, Diavolo’s shocked and asks if it’s cause Belphie remembered him saying he wanted to ride it, Belphie tries to deny it but Diavolo doesn’t buy it – instead he smiles brightly and gushes about how nice and sweet Belphie is which makes Belphie blush and demand him to stop. Diavolo marvels at the lights from up in the ferris wheel and how they look like stars, Belphie says he’s getting too excited. Diavolo ignores this and points out his hotel and the brothers’ manor. Belphie says he sounds like a child and Diavolo laughs and says that Lucifer says the same. Diavolo, while still smiling, says that in a way he is a child, a child who spends his time alone and never gets to do anything interesting (and holy shit that’s sad – he really did grow up alone in that huge castle…) Belphie doesn’t know what to say to this and Diavolo asks what’s wrong. Belphie says he’s surprised cause he never knew Diavolo saw himself that way. Diavolo laughs and says he never expected Belphie to treat him with kindness and Belphie asks what kind of heartless monster did Diavolo imagine him as (look despite all the shit I give Belphie I do really love him but also I mean…. He does kinda make it known how much he dislikes diavolo…) Diavolo laughs it off, he says today he learnt things about Belphie that even Lucifer hadn’t told him and that there’s probably a lot about Diavolo that Belphie doesn’t know about either. Diavolo says he knows they’ve had there differences, specially cause Diavolo had his position to consider and that he had been very strict with Belphie in the past and that he still doesn’t consider that a mistake (YES!! FINALLY!!) and that despite all that they were still able to get along well today, he thanks MC for their help in bringing them to this point. They say they didn’t even do anything special, Belphie says that he agrees with Diavolo and that they did help. Diavolo says he wants to talk more with Belphie and if Belphie agrees nothing would make him happier. Belphie’s silent for a bit before he slowly agrees. Diavolo thanks him and says there’s one more place he wants to drop by.
They end up at the brothers’ place. Asmo welcomes them back, Diavolo says “I’m home!...just kidding pardon the intrusion” AND you just KNOW this man wishes he wasn’t kidding and that he could really live with all of them. Asmo asks how his day went & Diavolo says he had fun. When beel asks Belphie says he’s really tired. Asmo invites Diavolo to stay for dinner, saying Lucifer & Barbatos are cooking. Diavolo says he’ll go and help them but Belphie makes him sit down and tells him to relax after the day they had. Diavolo beams and thanks Belphie for worrying about him and Belphie blushes and tries to deny it, saying that since him & MC aren’t helping if Diavolo goes to help it’ll just make them look bad. Diavolo says he actually wants to help and that the other two can wait here (hey Lucifer and Barbatos are Diavolo’s closest friends right? And you tend to tell your closest friends everything that happens… MC & Belphie are so fucked). (this next interaction has such strong sibling vibes? Like I’m telling you I’ve had this exact same conversation before) Levi & Mammon seem to find the whole interaction between the two of them interesting and make noises about it, when Belphie asks them what, Levi says it’s nothing and Mammon asks how it went. Belphie says they went to a park and now they’re back. Satan says the others meant how it went with Diavolo. Belphie says like he said before there was nothing to it. Asmo says the interaction between the two of them says different and Satan agrees. Beel congratulates him and Belphie blushes and says he has no idea what they’re talking about. Mammon then asks MC if there were any problems, if they wondered off and got lost. MC either denies it so harshly it’s immediately unbelievable or says no…not really. Levi asks what ‘not really’ means. Belphie asks Mammon why he asked that and if he remembered the time he got lost in a park. Beel also then remembers that. Mammon says he’s not the one that got lost and that it was the twins. The three of them then argue about who really got lost. Asmo tells them to each say their side of the story. Mammon had been playing darts when the twins disappeared and he’d ended up searching all over for them and he’s been really freaked out. The twins say they went to buy soft serve and when they came back Mammon wasn’t there and they ended up going around finding him. MC, Satan and Asmo says it sounds like all 3 of them fucked up. Diavolo then calls them for dinner. (This whole arcs gives me ‘taking your new partner’s kid who hates you on a day out so that you can bond’ vibes with MC there solely to act as the buffer)
During dinner they talk about their day at the park, apparently they rode the freefall of death thrice in a row and Belphie happily tells Diavolo that next time they go they should ride it again. Diavolo very obviously reluctantly agrees to, which Mammon points out. Diavolo said he did enjoy it but next time he wants a break between riding it over and over again. Belphie says it wouldn’t be a marathon if they took breaks. Diavolo says next time they should all go together and maybe even try out a different theme park. Levi suggests a space themed park with another insane ride that tries to kill you, Mammon reads the description of the ride and immediately nopes out. Satan teases Mammon for being scared which he protests to, Beel asks for a place with good food, Levi says he was waiting for Beel to say that and Diavolo happily laughs and after being alone for so long a lively dinner like this full of people he cares about who care about him in turn was probably something he always wanted. After dinner in the warmly lit music room Barbatos brings Lucifer coffee, Diavolo and Satan are playing chess, Levi is rambling to Asmo about the game he and Diavolo were playing and Asmo happily tells him he has no idea what he’s talking about, and Belphie asks to talk with MC. He tells them despite how much he initially complained he had fun and he thanks them, they say they’re happy things turned out well. He says he never thought he would end up feeling like this. Lucifer then calls the both of them to him. He says they did well today and seeing the relaxed way Diavolo’s getting along with the others like there’s no tension between them is a relief. He thanks them. Belphie smiles as he says that Diavolo looks like he’s having fun with the others. “By the way…” Lucifer says with a smile ‘Diavolo told me about what happened today you little fucks’ (told you he’d snitch to Lucifer) Belphie’s shocked and speechless. A purple aura starts rising off Lucifer as he smiles sweetly at them, “Perhaps you’d like to explain to me exactly what happened?” “DD! …Why’d you have to tell him!?” screams Belphie before he accepts his fate and the screen goes black.
MC leaves the house to walk Diavolo and Barbatos to the street to drop them off, for which Diavolo apologises for troubling them. Barbatos says he could have ordered a car to come right up to the door of the house (Barbatos pls read the room!) and Diavolo says he doesn’t mind catching a taxi from the street. Barbatos is silent and contemplative for a moment before he says he forgot to tell Lucifer something and heads back inside (he read the room!). When they get to the street Diavolo worries cause Belphie had seemed really pissed when they left, he says when Belphie told him to keep it a secret he’d genuinely thought Belphie meant the picture they took together. He assumes Belphie told him not to tell about the ransom right after he told him not to tell about the picture but Diavolo had been so thrilled by the picture he hadn’t processed most of what Belphie said. He worries he messed up all the progress he made during the day. MC says though Belphie’s mad now he’ll get over it in time. He’s still worried that next time Belphie won’t be as willing to talk to him like he did today (he was still calling him DD though even when he was pissed so I don’t think it’ll be a problem. I hope they keep up the nickname Lucifer will hate it and that at least should be incentive for Belphie to keep using it). Diavolo says he had a lot of fun today and that he’ll never forget it. He goes on to say that growing up he lived a very sheltered life and that he’s never felt more free than he did today, though the ride was too much for him. He says even thinking about it makes his hands shake and he shows them to MC. MC can either take his hands or do nothing. If they take his hand he blushes and says it’s strange but that made him calm down. He says he wants to spend more time together and asks if they can go for a walk. MC agrees and he’s delighted by it. He says he’ll message Barbatos to let him know but that it’ll probably not be necessary since Barbatos went back to give them space anyway (You know Lucifer saw Barbatos come back alone, figured out what is happening and is now pacing a hole through the floor
They go to a park with a lake from where they can even see a ferris wheel in the distance. Diavolo asks if they think it’s the ferris wheel they rode today or a different one. He then laughs and says the human world’s really beautiful from the trees in daylight to the buildings at night. He asks if he can hold their hand and they can do that or put their arm through his. If they hold hands he says they almost look like a couple. If they do the second one he’s shocked but smiles and says they saw through him and realised what he actually wanted to do even though he wasn’t smooth enough to ask. He says his mother dies during childbirth and his father was always very strict with him, and he doesn’t know if that’s cause he was training him to be the next demon king or because he resented Diavolo’s birth for taking away the love of his life (I also HC Diavolo looking a lot like his mom. ALSO this confirms what I said earlier in one of the other lesson summaries about demons being born through biological reproduction like humans and unlike angels). He says growing up he never got a chance to talk to anyone outside the castle until he met Barbatos who told him stories of the outside world that fascinated him (this really does give the vibe that Diavolo was a child while Barbatos was an adult at the time). He liked Barbatos so much he begged him to stay with him. Barbatos had kept saying no but Diavolo had refused to give up. He’d thrown a tantrum then and said he’d refuse to be the next demon king unless Barbatos stayed with him and Barbatos had given in. Then he gets sad saying that what Belphie said today hit him, and how he always used his royal status to get others to do what he wanted. He asks if it’s possible that he’s forcing Barbatos to stay against his will. (and I get that what diavolo did was shitty but the fear he must have had for the rest of the day since Belphie said that cause he thought Barbatos will leave too and he’ll once again be truly alone in that castle is heartbreaking). MC who spent the last two lessons with Barbatos more or less talking about Diavolo (or Solomon) reassures Diavolo that Barbatos is staying cause he wants to. Diavolo’s happy for a bit before he becomes sad and doubtful again. He then says MC reminds him of Lucifer cause Lucifer is also constantly saying similar things to him (AND THE IMPLICATIONS!!? FIRST IT WAS THE OTHERS COMPARING LUCIFER’S FONDNESS FOR MC TO HIS FONDNESS TO DIAVOLO AND NOW IT’S THIS!!? Can I just say again: remember how the twins wanted to share MC if they ever got together with one of them? I think Lucifer x MC and Diavolo x MC make a lot more sense if it’s all three of them together. And in any case where MC doesn’t choose one of them, they get together like the LIs in The Arcana do). He asks if it’s possible that Lucifer and MC flatter him too much. He then says it can’t be fun listening to his childhood stories but that he wanted them to know about him and that he wants to know more about them too. He asks what kinda food they like. The options are sweet, spicy and sour. He likes sweet too. He asks if they like animals. Options are they love them, don’t or it depends on the animal. Look after all the time in the devildom, after two paws events, after bathing Cerberus and after the brothers all having their own vastly different animal representatives MC can’t not love all animals. Diavolo says imagining them playing with different animals is really sweet. He says he’s known them for quite some time now but there’s still so much he doesn’t know. He blushes and asks if they can do things like this more often, where they just spend time together. He then confesses and asks how they feel about him. If they say sorry he smiles and asks them not to apologize, saying that he didn’t say it to make them feel bad but that he understands. He asks if they’re in love with one of the brothers an they can say yes, no or stay silent. He smiles sadly and says he guessed. He says that even though they don’t have feelings for him it doesn’t change the fact that he still loves them. He says he still wants to get to know them more and asks if they can still meet up. He thanks them for being a part of his life. (While I still don’t think the side characters liking MC makes much sense and I still much prefer them as very close friends I like how all their confessions are very one and done. The brothers romantic plotlines with MC are still going on and there’s never a “I love you, do you love me? No? okay I still love you but I’ll back away too” moment. MC never gets the chance to reject them. But with the side characters MC rejects them, they understand that MC loves someone else, they accept the rejection really well and they go back to being friends and I really like that. It feels like it probably won’t be explored again after you reject them.)

Reaction to The Devil Judge (spoilers for ep. 11-12)
Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well this week!
Here we go! Again i’m really sorry for the english & my personal interpretations which might go a little bit overboard (❁´ω`❁)
THIS GOT VERYYYYYYYYYY LONG PLEASE BEAR WITH ME!!!!
tldr: i am in shambles haha
Have a nice week and take care! ♥
- Huckleberryfinn’s new OST, The Nights, was released this saturday and it’s truly a gem! The guitar/bass’s place in BOTH OSTs they composed is awesome. The lyrics destroyed me haha (i’ll shortly talk about it below!). The soundtrack during these two episodes was awesome btw ;;
- Sun-Ah’s visit to the mansion felt nostalgic and shattering at the same time, she sees she doesn’t belong in this house but still indulges a little in this illusion, « wanting to fall for his trick even just for a little while ». Her expression made me feel for her for a little while too ;;
This shot above is funny because the bokeh effect (✨ the little sparkles ✨) is used in the background every time but this time it plays in front of Sun-Ah’s view: she sees in Yohan and his mansion a « shining » thing she desired for a long time. The bokeh here served also as a transition to the flashback right after.
Well, it could just be the streetlights’ reflections on the car and me reaching but there are so many symbolic visual shots in this show already i just couldn’t dismiss it in my brain haha
I liked Sun-Ah’s depiction of her choice to go against Yohan: she drops the necklace (symbolizing Yohan, this scene followed by Yohan’s cross-like scar) and not herself, like she did in the past for/because of Yohan when she was a maid + Yohan’s reflection disappears, Sun-Ah only focusing on herself: the ‘us’ she wanted for some time disappeared. And this event makes Sun-Ah’s rage on K more upsetting than it already is, but maybe i’m reaching haha
This scene also shows Yohan and Sun-Ah want two different directions to their relationship: to use her and to have him reach the top by her side respectively. They both look at the mirror, but their focus is different and they’re set in different plans on the shots.
In My Mister, (SPOILERS) the wife has a serious affair with her husband’s superior, but throughout the drama, they have divergent opinions on their affair’s developments: the wife wanted to leave her husband and settle with her lover, while the latter didn’t think any of it and, among other plot reasons, only wanted her because married women are the ‘safest choice (ending the relationship while she still loves him would be more troublesome) and always kept the affair secret.
This was particularly symbolized by their song preferences, but also by this shot in the beginning of the series: after the wife shared her hopes about their relationship (and her lover staying most of the time silent), they both look to the distance (their affair’s metaphorical future) but their eyes almost never look in the same direction.
- « I did it because i need you (by my side?) », Sun-Ah and Gaon’s parallels:
"[To Gaon on ep. 8] I wanted you to be by my side.”
“[To Gaon on ep. 5] I don’t need you to understand, but you need to make a decision. Will you stand in my way … or stand on my side?”
"[To Gaon] If i needed to, i would’ve done something even worse. Whether it was switching him or something else.”
- When Elijah and Gaon play jenga, Yohan might have let the door to his bedroom open (even after leaving them the first time) to continue hearing them have fun in the living room. It parallels to the scene in ep. 5 where he watches them play in the garden with Kkomi through the little gap of his curtains: what piques his curiosity first is the playful conversation he hears from his bed even from the closed windows. The flashback explains it all and i’m glad Gaon insisted to have him play with them despite the front he tried to put on, Elijah’s and Yohan’s expressions in this scene ended me ;;
Look how quick he turned his attention to Gaon, as if he waited for something to happen, to get to play with them!! His eyes lit up in an instant i can’t with this —
I loved how Yohan delayed his defeat to Elijah by asking Gaon questions about the game hahah
Elijah and Yohan’s relationship growth here reminds me of 2 parallels i didn’t catch the first time (but the desperation i felt when Gaon left because everything could grow cold again between Elijah and Yohan):
“That’s everything i think about”:
Elijah getting in & out of the car (ep. 6-9):
- And Gaon’s « Once everything is over, i’ll definitely … » — you’ll definitely what, please tell the audienceeeeeeee ;;;; this screams a death flag for Soohyun (or was it just foreshadowing their confrontation in ep. 12? idek anymore haha), but let’s hope it’s not!!
- After CKH’s suicide: we can’t expect people to make perfect choices every time they are challenged, and i think this story shows it well: Soohyun when she was with Elijah, and now Gaon carelessly touching the minister’s body for the files. As judges, they could have searched the body and the room using a fabric to hide their presence. But they’re both shocked: Yohan looks dumbfounded, standing and watching (even though he’s quicker to react when he sees Soohyun and he puts on a composure at the house saying it was ‘nothing’, he looked very sour when Sun-Ah called him to rejoice in her death) and Gaon panic-stricken. The fact he might have relived his parents’ suicide when he discovered the Minister’s body … And in the worst way possible (in a daze, searching her dead body for her files and realizing he didn’t give the body minimum respect) … oof
At least Yohan could have thought about it since the story shows how prepared he is in his plans, but this scene shows even him is at a loss at what to do. After all, the minister was the way he targeted to bring everyone linked to the foundation down. They were so close, i think he was too convinced her « self-pity » would mean her survival despite everything (« Do you have any other options? ») to see what was coming. After all, when they last met, he saw she was about to shoot him.
Sun-Ah was the only one he thought was ‘unpredictable’. When Gaon talked to CKH, he let him speak and approved his speech, surely thinking everything went along his plans and the minister would surrender. And i think that’s also why he gives Gaon all this speech, to reassure himself and them, since they work now as a team.
- Ep. 9 foreshadowing ep. 11 and 12 (Soohyun facing Yohan and Gaon). It’s interesting how the two shots from ep. 9 seem to put on the same plan the three characters, as if Yohan is literally standing between Soohyun and Gaon, as if he was the one protecting/separating him from Soohyun. This is very telling of the whole dynamic between those three.
- When the minister said she didn’t want to clear her name regarding her son in the live but still does so anyway, this is pure preterition haha! It’s also why she reminds the public opinion the first case Yohan handled!
- Cha Kyung Hee’s demise (ep. 11-4 parallels):
(+ a cinematographic reference to the 2000 movie Malèna, which was recently used in Hwasa’s MV for the song Maria)
- The scene right after where Soohyun wipes Gaon’s involvement to the suicide was moving in regards to her character, we get to see how torn she is by this situation + when she faces off Yohan in the parking (and the ‘let go’ could also have referred to Gaon) … i felt bad for her!
- About Soohyun & the professor: I find interesting the way the professor and Soohyun shelter Gaon’s existence was clearly shown with these two episodes and through their rage. At the beginning of the drama, their hold on his life’s values and choices was almost impalpable but not anymore, now that they’re facing Yohan’s threat.
In these shots, Soohyun looks like she is covering Gaon’s ear, turning him away and protecting him from outside (from the pain, Yohan, the rest of the world).
And on professor Min’s part, it’s almost infantilizing, de-responsibilizing Gaon to say the least (« What are you making Gaon do? That child has been through so much. He suffered and struggled through the worst to get there. »), given he’s the one who planted him on the court’s bench to find what’s happening behind the scene: he could have asked Gaon for explanations (as Yohan underlined, « Did you hear it from Gaon himself? ») but he just snaps at him. He should have foreseen that he could’ve taken Yohan’s side.
For his defense, his family just got targeted but still, it’s the first time Gaon came back since then!
(By the way, that whole conversation with professor Min confirmed to Yohan Gaon didn’t admit to their plan to Soohyun nor the professor)
As for Soohyun, her deep concern for Gaon makes her antagonize Yohan and, in her POV, it’s pretty understandable: her friend got locked up in this judge’s house for days with no phone or permission to go out + said judge seems to not let her niece go out with her new friends, got violent against Gaon + he seems to be plotting something behind the trials he biased + Gaon’s description of the man in the first episodes wasn’t that nice but DESPITE IT ALL her friend still seems to be empathizing with him?
She’s maybe thinking he got manipulated by Yohan given the evil picture he depicted her & must feel helpless in front of Gaon’s sudden change of heart. I think that’s what she wanted to ask him when she got cut by the professor’s arrival. The lack of honest conversation between them is what’s making it worse: on one hand, Gaon goes to her every time he feels sad or confused to get comfort & advice without telling what truly is going on (or eventually telling her when she insists), on the other hand, Soohyun always tells him to give up his investigation on Yohan and never asks him his point of view to understand the situation.
And she discovered he lied about him not being involved with this man in the worst way possible, finding him by CKH’s body with Yohan. He was her reason to dedicate her life to protect people under the law (he does not owe her anything in no way, but it was her wish), and she ended up dirtying her hands for him. Her gut reaction to her moral principles being violated by both Gaon and her right now is stronger than wanting to hear the truth from Gaon. She continues to investigate Yohan on her own, to protect him. It was interesting to see this sententious side when she confronted Gaon after all this! The only time Soohyun saw him cry and didn’t support him, it hits hard ;;
But i believe the whole crisis that’s happening by the end of ep. 12 will make them team up again at least for a while. And on that note, will she meet Sun-Ah? It would be interesting!
I’m glad the professor raised as a concern on the live trials the due process & fair trial, which are essential for the rule of law to prosper.
In fact, the live trials slowly become a place of majoritarianism/ochlocracy/mob rule as the cases progress (the two best examples being the actor and Juk Chang cases), the protests against professor Min are another example. Even if Yohan has the last word on the defendant’s sentence, this issue is still there.
Maybe the viewers’ voice will turn against Yohan one day?
- The minister … Even though the story showed us how cruel her family could be, i can’t help but feel sympathy for her son with her suicide. And that is accentuated by the fact her family’s grief is not even showed, covered by the mediatic chaos. She could have fled the country as her son suggested, but she thought she was « nothing » without her accomplishments and her path to glory. As the former president of the foundation killed by Sun-Ah’s hands, she died in her office as the Minister of Justice, while her image wasn’t torn to shreds yet. The photograph she held showed her at the center and, ironically, it’s the only figure from the photo who is clear-cut, her husband and her son are out of focus (or it could just be the episode’s image quality misleading me haha). Even though she loved them (well, at least in her manner, which was kind of narcissistic tbh), she cared too much for her success and her death was her act of self-pity.
- This isn’t the first time Gaon was warned about Yohan and i find it interesting it’s the people closest to him that say that, especially K despite (or precisely because?) his loyalty to him. Elijah also warned him before.
- The whole argument … It’s a progression of ep. 5 & 8 scenes (’will you stand in my way or stand on my side?’ & ‘i wanted you by my side and if i needed to, i would’ve done something worse’). You can tell how desperate Yohan was when he reached out to Gaon. His gaze faltered, showing his hesitation to do it, but as the realization he was going to lose him dawned on him, this touch became a necessity in front of the exigency, making up for everything he couldn’t say out loud. It was a sad & hurtful mess. Yohan truly looked short on ‘arguments’ after Gaon’s question (‘what kind of monster am i turning into?’), he seemed to not even know what to say to make him stay, making him pause before talking about Soohyun.
The way his eyes lit up, almost smiling, full of hope, when he finished laying his ultimatum and how he regained a composed expression, thinking Gaon would take his side maybe?
I didn’t catch it on the first time, but Gaon’s sadness to end/put a hold on their collaboration (thus their whole relationship, stepping out of his life) transpired through him weakly rejecting Yohan’s hand with his own hand sliding down the latter's arm, as if he was unwilling to let this life with the Kangs go. You can see it’s hard on him to leave with the tears in his eyes.
I think Gaon’s response outran his thoughts, as a quick riposte, it was to make Yohan stop this. The way things went (well, it escalated QUICKLY), hurting him like that was the only effective way, and he knows it will hurt him: before saying Soohyun is his world, he tears up because of that (in addition to everything Yohan said and it was A LOT), and didn’t even have the strength/will to get angry like all the previous times:
the fact Yohan laid this very ultimatum and wanted to persuade/manipulate him into thinking this was the only choice. Even if he knew Yohan would be capable of doing this since ep. 7-8 (”To achieve his goal, would he not use another man’s pain? If the devil really did exist among us.”), he got a confirmation and it still hurts.
+ the fact he knows he has to hurt him with something as much as hurtful before he takes it too far.
+ the fact he knows he can’t live in this house any longer because of this argument when he made all these memories with them.
And (let’s hope for it) if Gaon wants to show Yohan there’s another way out of this ultimatum, Gaon’s « Soohyun is my world » might be a counter ultimatum (‘to stay by your side, you’ll have to deal with my world because there must be another way, there is no question, or else you’ll have to deal on your own’). He’s still not said anything to Soohyun (well, he didn’t have the opportunity to anyway but even during their confrontation, when she asked for details, he said nothing) nor the professor, so maybe that’s it?
- « Of course it doesn’t matter to me, but … » ELIJAH NOOOOOOOO ;;;;;;;;; After Yohan, Elijah tries in her way to hold Gaon back — and she makes a valid point tbh (look at what happened by the end of the episode!), but seeing her putting all her efforts and realizing it’s failing is heartbreaking … Given the preview for ep. 13, please let me hope this conversation won’t be their last one!!
- Utter devastation when the next scenes show how Gaon still shines even in his absence: the « You never apologize » + the scene with the nanny & Gaon’s last prepared meal + Gaon’s portrait by Elijah … ugh
- Elijah’s painting game is too strong, can’t relate haha! I wish they could show the BTS for this painting, respect for the artist behind!!
- On metaphorical images, Gaon took care of the Kangs like he tended to his plants at home. On a regular basis, he provided them attention and care, making them lively as his plants got lush. On ep. 8, we got a shot of Elijah smiling at Gaon’s plants, sort of a confirmation she loved how their house became warmer since Gaon’s stay, which led her to open up to his uncle.
- Now they’re only four! It looks like the mafia game haha, i look forward (am i though?) to the day Sun-Ah sits by herself haha
AND THIS MAN
This is true pig behavior, especially considering Sun-Ah’s past … I felt her reaction when he said all this bs to demean her, she had all her struggles with men thrown back to her face, soiled by these « jokes ».
- The monsters, the abyss and Nietzsche:
« He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee. », Nietzsche
- « I don’t care if humanity falls, as long as i have you two ». It was what he wouldn’t say to Gaon nor Elijah, and yet they’re his world! This sequence parallels Gaon’s inner wish when he leaves the Kang’s house + the flashbacks of his fond memories with the Kangs. Will Yohan give his vigilante ideals up for them? Will Gaon pursue this dream but in his own way that won’t threaten their « worlds »?
(Now we know what his whole world meant)
- The light from the chandelier (ie. their newfound family) is out of Yohan’s (metaphorical) reach, shown by its blurred silhouette, as if it’s gone from the room which regained its initial colder tones. But it’s not: once it’s made its way in the room, it remains and lingers, as a keepsake of the lost warmth. His fond memories with Gaon and Elijah flashed back through the window’s light.
On a similar note, Gaon’s room, albeit having warmer tones than the Kang’s ones since the beginning, looks dark too. The contrast with earlier episodes is clear. This reminds me of My Mister’s (SPOILERS) full shots of Lee Ji An’s room, getting warmer as she gets to know Park Dong Hoon, and losing all its fond colors when she has to leave for his sake. As if the room and inanimate objects were given life by their owner, imbuing them with their feelings. It becomes an outer expression of their feelings. Sorry for the rambling but i just love when they do that in fiction, and i think it sometimes leaves more impact to the viewers if emotions are conveyed through various angles (eg. through another character’s point of view, sounds, looks, the use of light i mentioned below, etc) !
- I wonder … since the flashbacks are giving us Gaon’s conscious point of view on this separation, was he awake when Yohan came back from his (forced) encounter with Sun-Ah? It’s a really minor point but it could be an interesting detail since this show always shows us there are some sides or spots to the stories we didn’t have yet!
The jenga scene also flashed back but this time we see Gaon’s POV seeing Yohan’s smile & we got Gaon’s angle when Yohan had a nightmare in ep. 5: while from Yohan’s POV, Gaon’s irruption truly felt like an invasion of his intimacy (the quick succession of shots expressing his panic and defensive reaction), from Gaon’s POV only one angle showed the scene, the tension was conveyed only when Yohan slapped his hand away.
We also got Yohan’s POV when he admitted to Gaon he needed him by his side (and a closer look at Gaon’s troubled expression)!
- Ep. 5 and 11-12 parallels:
Yohan’s tentative look at Gaon and Elijah playing outside, as if he wanted to join them like in ep. 11, the curtains mainly closed and only pushed by one of his hands. It let the daylight in his dark room through this sneak peek.
But in ep. 12, the curtains are drawn, Yohan taking the (moon)light fully in. And this time, he doesn’t reach out to his late brother in the flames, but to the moonlight. He gets up, as in a trance, from his nightmare like the last time, but he goes to his window instead. And it reminds me of both Huckleberry Finn’s OST’s (in Tempest, « you said i’ll live in the sun / moonlight » and in The Nights, « my / your night shines on you / me »), the suffer is here. And see how the light reveals his tear? I nearly missed it!
The fact he could not find sleep anymore after this night + he slept on his sofa where the moonlight could be seen + has kept his phone right next to him (in case Gaon called him or to know if something happened to him) ➾ 🌝 pure devastation 🌝
- I really love the show’s use of light/dark tones to reveal and contrast its characters’ emotions! What you can’t see in the light gets revealed in the dark, and vice-versa. The OST The Nights touches on this subject as well.
And it ties up very well to the plot so far: everyone has his or her own motivations and intentions, background, and makes choices, but depending on the perspective, their story changes and sparks off different reactions. Everybody’s story is interconnected.
As @skylessnights pointed out, one of the books found during the series (when Yohan revealed his past to Gaon if i’m correct), The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, depicts this angle well in its plot and epigraph: « Never again shall a single story be told as though it were the only one. » - John Berger.
When Gaon and Yohan go back to the mansion after CKH’s death, the route lights flash Gaon’s hands red, caught (literally) red-handed by Soohyun. He begins to recollect his recent memories of what just happened, and panics, short-winded, until Yohan touched his arm. He’s startled but calmed himself down, and we don’t hear him out of breath anymore. It’s interesting how the light’s focus was on Gaon’s hands, the core of his panic, until Yohan’s arm came into the light, as if our and Gaon’s attention went back to Yohan’s touch, his anchor in his panic, and begins to think clear-headed of what they had done. (btw, getting Phoenix Wright desperate vibes from Gaon’s pose haha)
Gaon’s emotions show when his phone lights up, trying to reach Soohyun again.
When Yohan’s inner wish brings him back to their happy times, the end of the flashback shows a shot of his eyes dazzled by the light of these memories and back to the present, the light now gone out from his eyes.
Yohan’s reaction to Gaon’s cry in the prison yard in ep. 7: what i loved to see was how his restraint told more about the emotions he held back. The light shifting on his face revealed his jaw clenching & frowned brows, his glassy eyes and him averting his gaze, which he often does when he’s in front of sensitive topics and it’s too much.
+ other instances he looked away:
When Jinjoo decides to accept the foundation’s offer, she steps into the dark side of the room where the two chairmen are. Up till now, she stood where the light could reach her, away from them. It symbolically seals her involvement with the foundation, and by the end of ep. 12, it is confirmed by her message on behalf of the foundation (about the plague) displayed on the screens. By the way, i love the fact so much things unfold while we focus on Yohan and Gaon’s story!
On the subject of ‘subjective’ truths, examples, besides the flashback with the priest about Yohan in ep. 11, could be the truth behind the cancellation of the donation by Yohan or Sun-Ah’s fall from the window when she was a maid. We got Sun-Ah, Elijah, and then later Yohan’s point of view.
- I think Gaon tried to call Soohyun and not Yohan (though the subs say otherwise) because the contact above has the ‘thug’ nickname with the fist emoji! It made more sense, Yohan would’ve answered right away! But i believe he will have regrets/worries in the next episodes (Yohan and Elijah seem to be getting in real danger so maybe he’ll come back to save them).
- Metatextuality in The Devil Judge — Beauty and the Beast (written by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont & Disney’s 1991 animation movie)
I’ve always loved transtextual relationships between fictions, my french teacher in middle school gave us this passion haha! Ever since i read this interview translated by @deviljudge, it’s true i’m getting more and more Beauty and the Beast vibes, especially from ep. 12’s argument (and the whole premise Belle got locked up in the mansion in the beginning)! The original fairy tale and Disney’s adaptation are both relevant, some plot points differ from one another (Belle’s sisters vs Gaston, the mansion personnel turned into living paraphernalia) even though the core of the fairy tale is left untouched but for the sake of this bit, i’ll use the 1991 movie because its inevitably longer format delves more into the fairy tale moral lesson.
(Cheesy time incoming haha) The beast lets Belle go see her father he knew she deeply cared about, and let her go because he realized he loved her. He thought she would never come back, but despite it all, she came back and saved him from Gaston. Belle (Gaon) broke the spell that was casted on the mansion (the Kangs and their loneliness, especially when Yohan said he’s tired of this house). Yohan fails at not hurting the people he cares about but learns step by step, by Gaon and Elijah's side, how to live again and reconnect with his ‘human’ side.
Even the secretary looks like the modern version of the whole cast in the Beast’s mansion (Cogsworth, Lumière, …) haha
The movie intro is self-explanatory:
« Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish and unkind. But then, one winter’s night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman’s ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart. And as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the Beast concealed himself inside his castle with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his 21st year. If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a beast? »
Belle’s characterization in the movie is also interesting:
« With a dreamy, far-off look and her nose stuck in her book what a puzzle to the rest of us is Belle ».
« There must be more than this provincial life (…) I want adventure in the great wide somewhere — I want it more than i can tell — And for once it might be grand to have someone understand — I want so much more than they’ve got planned »
& when Belle got locked up in the mansion: « I’ve lost my father, my dreams, everything. » (similar to “Soohyun is my world”).
Gaon, since his parents’ death, lived his life believing in the illusion of justice the system gave him, along with Soohyun and professor Min, his two pillars who kept him steady this whole time. Once he was showed it was an illusion, he wanted to fight this world.
Before the movie’s climax, this conversation reminded me of ep. 12’s argument:
« - Belle? Are you happy here with me?
- Yes. [looks to the distance]
- What is it?
- If only i could see my father again just for a moment. I miss him so much.
- There is a way. This mirror will show you anything. Anything you wish to see.
- I’d like to see my father, please. [The mirror projects the image of his father in danger and sick] Papa. Oh no. He’s sick. He may be dying and he’s all alone.
- [Glances at the wilting rose] Then you must go to him.
- What did you say?
- I release you. You’re no longer my prisoner.
- You mean i’m free?
- Yes.
- Oh, thank you. Hold on Papa, i’m on my way.
- Take [the mirror] with you, so you’ll always have a way to look back and remember me.
- Thank you for understanding how much he needs me.
(…)
- I let her go.
- [Cogsworth] Yes, splen … You what? How could you do that?
- I had to.
- Yes but … Why?
- Because i love her. »
Yohan did nothing to hold Gaon back even if he needs him (as shown when he clutches his hands together after he left) because he was forced by Gaon to understand how precious Soohyun is to him, this point was already made multiple times in the series (when Gaon thought he was the one who pushed Soohyun in the stairs and already threatened him about it, when Gaon told him he couldn’t live as a conman in front of Soohyun and his parents). Since his ‘to have you by my side, i would have done worse if it was necessary’ + ‘this is a life or death situation, sacrifices are also necessary’, he seemed to think Soohyun was expendable in his own world, which he shared with Gaon. With this argument, his world looks definitely incompatible with the one Gaon described (« Soohyun is my world »), and even though they already went this far in their plan, he lets him go and respects his choice. Will it make him change for the better or for the worse? Will the whole ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ apply to him?
Other moments i found interesting to note:
« Come into the light »:
When Belle goes to save the Beast from the village:
« - Please, i know he looks vicious, but he’s really kind and gentle. He’s my friend. - - [Gaston] If i didn’t know better, I’d think you had feelings for this monster. - - He’s no monster, Gaston. You are! - - If you’re not with us, you’re against us. » (pretty similar to the professor’s rage in the hospital)
When Belle’s father goes to save her: « I don’t care what it takes. I’ll find that castle and somehow, i … I’ll get her out of there. » (when Soohyun talks about and to Yohan)
The Beast possessive behavior in the beginning of the story: « [To her father] She’s no longer your concern, take him to the village. » (similar to Yohan’s behavior towards Soohyun) & « [To Belle] The castle is your home now » (and towards Gaon)
A monster:
When the Beast observes Belle playing from afar:
- And i saw some Jane Eyre vibes (SPOILERS) from the whole fire haha + Wuthering Heights on Sun-Ah’s & Yohan’s mixed parts!
- And well … Sun-Ah’s character loosely reminds me of Simone in Nier Automata (which in itself is a reference to Simone de Beauvoir’s life and works), with the whole « I must become more beautiful / But he still won’t look my way », to whoever knows this game!
- These thigh boots holy hell Sun-Ah!!!! i loved this outfit!
- As soon as he said he didn’t feel anything from his revenge, K got the biggest death flag in this episode, i can’t believe they did this to the poor boy … When i asked for more scenes THIS isn’t what i meant aaaaaaaaaa
- A very random and weird note: Yohan’s almost silent and held back pain by the end of the ep. 12 fits his character so far, as well as his ‘calm’ tears. Given his past, it’s as if he’s always kept his pain bottled up and quietly bears it all and almost never got the space to properly let it all out (he had his brother, but with their father, i think they didn’t have this ‘chance’).
- My sick mind thought Sun-Ah was going to bring Gaon to the scene just in time for him to witness Yohan getting shot, but i guess it will be when she will get in the Kang’s mansion again according to the preview (since she asked Juk Chang for a « favor », i think they’ll knock Gaon out after beating him up for his own fun to leave him to Sun-Ah). Sun-Ah looked surprised when Jae-Hee shot him, so i guess only hurting K was part of the plan.
- The ‘I know i’m fucked’ look hahaha
+ the softer version:
- I now have BIG trust issues since these last episodes’ previews, and the cliffhangers kill me haha
- On another note, i find it amazing how Ji Sung and Kim Min Jung keep that upsetting atmosphere whenever there’s a scene between them that involves them and skinship, but it still conveys Sun-Ah’s complex feelings for Yohan and Yohan’s interest in her! The soundtrack really does a good job to convey that mood as well!
- In conclusion: How Dramatic do you want these two episodes to be? The devil judge: Yes

Note
Are you going to finish the Tiny Virgil AU? Cause the last chapter ended on a cliffhanger. If you don't feel like finishing the whole thing, you could maybe give us bullet points of what was supposed to happen?
Ahaha whoops, I kinda forgot that fic. at the rate I'm going, it'll take like ten years for that or any of my other fics to get finished. Tbh, I actually have a whole outline for that one? Acantha (@theeternalspace) and I brainstormed the rest ages ago and then I took our thoughts and bullet-outlined it out.
The thing is? Like, emotionally I want to hold onto my thoughts and finish it, but if I am to be completely honest, realistically it probably won't happen. Because I wanna prioritize Gibbous over it and all.
so tldr: I'd like to write more installments, but in the case I never finish it and/or you don't care about spoilers, check the read more for what happens.
warnings: hurt/comfort, crying, morally grey sides (all sides are present so beware idk its been awhile im not up to date with how the fandom handles this sorta thing)
Chapter 5
Anx cant believe he forgot about Thomas!
He was so caught up in Creativity wanting to play with him, he's forgotten about his whole purpose
He goes to the real world, worried about all the things that could've befallen his host without his guidance
Anx is confused to be faced with adult Morality and another...side?
"Thomas?"
Thomas is big, Anx is not
This can't be real, can it? How can he protect Thomas like this?
Roman shows up, but the damage is dealt (Ro and Pat converse a bit)
Virge starts panicking and panics even more when he sees Thomas affected by it
Ro & Pat try to comfort Virge but no use
It's Thomas who gets to him. Who is...helping? Why?
"Wh-why are you so nice? I'm bad, I hurt you--I do bad things."
Thomas looks sad at that. He tries to explaining that he doesnt think Virge is bad, he can be good
Virge doesnt really understand but at the same time...Thomas loves him??
Thomas offers him a hug and he accepts it. Still so confused but at least his host loves him.
Chapter 6
Virgil ends up tuckered up in Thomas' arms
"Crying is exhausting, don't like it" He complains to Roman.
"I know. You've been very brave, little prince."
It's not that late but Thomas seems nervous. "I should go to bed." (Basically feels like if he doesnt adhere to his childhood bedtime, he'll get in trouble aka lil Virgil's influence)
Patton asks if he'd like for him to accompany him and Thomas nods
Roman and Virgil end up back in the mindscape with Patton promising to follow soon after
Roman tucks him into bed
Patton comes back, looking tired, and both Roman and Patton agree to talk with Logan in the morning about things
in the morning with Virgil still asleep, Lo, Pat and Ro talk briefly
Logan shares some theories (Age regression maybe?)
Patton tells them what's up with Thomas
Roman decides to bother the Dark Sides. "If this happened before in the past, they would know, wouldn't they? And if they're behind it this time then I can get them to stop it"
They decide to have Patton look out for Thomas again and for Logan to watch over Virgil while Roman ventures out to the Dark Sides
Chapter 7
Logan mulls over what is happening
Grateful that Thomas is going to bed early at least
He is not worried, he is Logic
Tries focusing hard on his book
Virgil wakes up, disappointed to see Logan and not Roman
Roman ventures through the dark mindscape
infodump detail on how it differs vs. the regular mindscape, quiet, silence nobody is around
"HELLO" Roman screams as his brother pops up
"What do I owe brother dear for this visit?"
Virgil is worried about Roman, but Logan placates him a bit
The two end up doing a puzzle
During which Virgil randomly hugs Logan
When Logan asks why, Virgil explains "You're scared. Hugs make me feel less scared"
Logan thanks him for the sentiment but insists he is not scared
"You're scared, I can feel it. It's okay, I get scared lots of times so you don't have to." Virgil says
And then Logan's fear dissipates
He stares at Virgil, shocked, because did tiny virge take his fear away??
And if so, if tiny virge knows how to do this, has adult Virgil been doing it without them knowing??
Chapter 8
"I know you did it" Roman growls. It makes sense really. Remus did random things for sh*t and giggles
Remus blinked "Oh! You found out about ____, didn't you?"
"What no!" Roman says, disgusted. "I'm talking about Virgil."
"Wait, you think I did it with Virgil? Mr. Emo?"
"NO!" Roman snaps. "Stop playing dumb!"
The two have a scuffle, ending up with Remus having a sword at Ro's throat (who is stuck in green goop)
"I really don't know what you mean." Remus says, "What is it exactly do you think I did again?"
Logic must hate him, Anx thinks, otherwise why would he be looking strangely at him?
but its okay, even if it really really really hurts, Anx has done it before and would do it again to keep from any of them feeling pain
He asks if Anx took his fear away and he nods
surely this must be a happy thing but Logic seems even more upset
the fear grappling tiny virge is foreign. It's so different than fears he's taken before. He finds himself drowning in it. he doesnt quite understand most of it. But there's fears about himself, Logic being scared for him, not of him. (basically oh boy adult fears are much harder to process for a child Anxiety)
Logic grips his hand and asks for his fears back
"I can't" Tiny Virge says, shaking like a leaf
Logan asks it again. Virge shakes his head "I can't, I--I don't know how!"
He really doesnt know how. Usually he just holds it all in until it explodes.
Logic echoes some of what the fear is telling him, that Logic cares for him. And weirdly, it means a lot for him to hear that Logic actually cares.
But noooo he must only care because of Thomas, right?
Anyways this is resolved somehow idk lmao and then Logan is called to help with Thomas
Virgil promises Lo he'll be okay, not wanting to stop him from being able to help their host
Logan promises he'll back momentarily
Virgil squeezes Zola and tries his best to stay calm
Previously on Rem and Ro
Roman spills the beans on whats up
Deadbeat silence
Remus then babbles about how he has no clue what Roman is talking about, but is super intrigued and wants to check this out for himself
He sinks out as Roman grabs onto his ankle, but isn't enough to stop him from sinking out.
Chapter 9
"Hiya!"
Little Anx squeaks, shadows gathering at his feet, ready to strike at....
A Green-Dressed Creativity? He dresses fancily like him.
"Princey?"
Green laughs. "No, I'm The Duke! Princey's my brother!"
And Lil Virge is kinda confused but rolls with it because Creativity pretending to be someone else/splitting himself into two is a very Creativity thing to do and isn't too worried about it.
Roman shows up, fuming
However, because of Virgil, he has to play nice
They end up having a pretend tea party
Roman finds himself shocked that Remus is decent with kids? Or at least a Kid Anxiety??
He still says outrageous things but Virge giggles at them (Basically kids really have no baseline for moral right-or-wrong, they find talk of murder funny)
Roman feels a bit guilty/regretful realizing he never played much with Remus growing up
Eventually, Logan pops up slightly frazzled
He's relieved to see the twins there looking after Virgil
Explains the situation w/ Thomas to Roman while Remus and Virgil play
Patton pops up, looking slightly weary, leading Roman and Logan to insist he take a day off from watching Thomas
Upon seeing Logan & Patton, Virgil runs up to hug Logan, but shies away from Patton
Patton tries to hide his disappointment about this
Remus tries to leave upon seeing Lo and Pat are here
but Virge clings to him, insisting he stays
The Others agree, and Remus perks up a bit.
Somewhere, there's a discussion about Virge again, late at night?
Logan reveals Virgil taking fears from him
At some point it's decided to leave Janus out of it as it's unknown how little Virge would react to him and the fact that Janus most likely knows what's up and has chosen to stay out of it
It's decided that Remus and Roman will traverse the Imagination to see if there's a solution there
Logan will be with Thomas
Meanwhile Patton will look after Virgil
Chapter 10
Patton's POV
Little Virge is upset about both Remus and Roman leaving
they try to placate him but it does little. (Telling him how they'll stay safe and they don't want him going because they want to keep him safe)
Patton's heart breaks but he has to holds back Virge.
Eventually the two have heart-to-heart
Apparently the two had a classic childhood spat, that means a lot to Virge even tho poor Pat doesnt remember the spat at all.
Pat tells them they're the best of friends now, even shows him evidence
Virge feels a little better
Sees a snake stuffy in Pat's room, asks about Dee
Patton deflects
The two end up making cookies together
The Imagination is a bust, although the twins return squabbling in a good mood
And Remus has a "present" for Virgil, who delights in it.
They chat, when suddenly Virgil screams
Chapter 11
Virgil's POV
He's been trying his best to stay calm, to hold back the anxiety gained from Logan and also the other fears swelling inside of him
But it's too much, and push comes to shove. A burning sensation occurs
And it explodes
He has a panic attack and realizes it extends into the real world
Overwhelmed and upset, he runs off.
He runs off to his hideaway and sits there
Getting bombarded with fears
He's there for what feels like hours when--
"Oh my dear Anxiety" A crooning, unfamiliar yet familiar voice says
Virgil looks, surprised, to see Deceit!! There's a lot more scales and he's wearing a funny outfit but it's him
He is happy to see him albeit sobbing into his capelet because of what happened.
Dee holds onto him going, “Shhhh everything’s alright. Shhh it’s not your fault. It’s my fault, I’m sorry—“ and Virgil interrupts shrieking it can’t be his fault, because in his mind Dee would never do anything bad and it hurts Dee to know that young Virge has so much faith in him.
"You'll hate me" But Little Virge refuses to accept that. "You're lying, you don't mean that"
"Okay, you caught me. "We stay best friends forever" OR something along those lines
Dee convinces him to bring back to the others, that they don't hate him
When they return, the others "freaking out" is a mild understatement.
Dee slowly produces tiny Virge out of his capelet.
Hisses at them to keep their distance because crowding Virge will only freak him out
Apologies and misunderstandings are made clear
Thomas summons all of them and they all have a sleepover
Virgil falls asleep snuggled between Remus and Dee
Chapter 12
Maybe Roman's POV?
Along with Thomas, they have a discussion
Dee waits a bit, before revealing that he's behind the reason for Virge's current state.
As his role Deceit, he has access to both truth and lies. One lie is that Virgil believes his kid self died and is no longer a part of him--attempting to actively repress those memories
He then points out the childish aspects of each side's function. (Maybe Logan input something about growing up and stuff)
P: "But why would Virgil think this?" J: "oh gee, I wonder why. It isn't like he was made to feel like an outcast from a very young age or anything"
Instant Guilt for all
Anyways Dee explains some mishap occurred, thus reverting Virgil back to this state
You get the sense Janus isn't telling the whole truth.
Janus says he has a way to fix things, and that's when there's a noise
"Anx?"
Virge is there, standing incredibly still, slightly heavy breathing
"Anx, it's okay, we're not upset"
Little Virge heard everything and is upset but he understands
He knows Thomas needs big him, and the others reassure him that they'll be there for him, each having a small moment with him
Then he starts glowing brightly, causing them all to be alarmed, Janus included
Chapter 13
Virgil is back and boiiiiiii is he freaked the heck out
The Others including Thomas are all there, F*CK how can he ever recover after they saw him like that?
He's both embarrassed and mortified
Not to mention it hurts to have two sets of childhood memories rattling inside his head. One that was lonely and painful, and the other that was happy but fake
He snaps at Janus and ends up fleeing in his room
He doesn't duck out
He cant do that
He just doesnt....go out. He doesn't want to hear the jokes start. He doesnt want the babying or the pitying to start.
He does his job and that is that.
(inwardly he knew this would happen, but not like this)
They try summoning him (Thomas included) but he wont come out. His door is locked.
Patton slips a note under the door but Virge refuses to look at it.
Blares MCR
Somehow Zola appears in his room, and he'd like to tear it apart or something, but he can't help but squeeze the stuffed bat tight and cry for the childhood that never was.
A week passes, and there's a very sad prince at his door
Virgil ends up letting him in because look, he's not a monster
it's very...awkward at first
but they eventually have a heart-to-heart and some snarky banter
and Virgil is very confused when Princey feels the need to apologize to him
They also discuss Janus and Virgil very reluctantly agrees to talk to him
Virgil ends up talking with Janus over tea
Janus doesn't really look at him, staring at his teacup as he explains himself
and dammit, Janus has hurt him (but then again so has Virgil hurt Janus)
But a part of him really misses him. A part of him that has always missed him.
Janus explains he just wanted to know where he went wrong in their friendship, that he went the round-about way because knew Virgil wouldn't talk to him but messed with things he shouldnt and accidentally caused Virgil to revert to the age before their friendship started fraying by accident.
He admits that he almost wanted to leave Virgil that age, to take advantage of it as a way to start again, but ultimately couldnt let himself take advantage of virgil in that way
He also apologizes, telling Virgil "Showing weakness isn't bad. I told you once that you had to stay strong and not let anyone see it, but I was wrong" and that he understands if Virgil doesnt accept his apology right away or if ever
And Virgil doesnt completely accept, not yet, but he's willing to try
It ends happily with them going down to dinner with the others. (possibly Virgil having moments with the others??)
the end
BONUS, Written Scene from Chapter 11 w/ Virge's and Janus's reunion because I was self-indulgent and wrote ahead
“Oh my dear Anxiety,” A silky voice croons, so achingly familiar.
He sniffles, raising his head to meet eyes with the much older face of his best friend; Deceit. It has to be, there is no other side whose left side of face is reptilian in nature. He’s crouching beside Virgil, only one set of arms present at the moment. He’s wearing a funny outfit, but then Deceit has always dressed funny, just like Creativity. Neither of them have ever been worried about standing out.
“Dee!” Anxiety cries out, all but flinging himself onto the older side. The velocity of it flattens the two onto the ground, with Deceit letting a small grunt from the impact. He’d be more worried about possibly hurting Deceit if he wasn’t too busy bawling his eyes out into the strange cape Deceit is wearing.
Deceit strokes his hair, so soft and gentle. Then two sets of arms hoist Anxiety upwards, settling him onto Deceit’s lap. Deceit hugs Anxiety, cocooning him in a warm embrace. For a moment, everything feels normal again. As if they’re all kids still and Anxiety had sought Deceit for comfort after a bad nightmare.
Then Deceit speaks, saying words meant to be comforting. They are comforting at first, until Deceit says things that don’t make sense. And Anxiety knows Deceit is a liar, that he says things that aren’t true. But he knows when Deceit isn’t lying. They’re best friends after all.
“Shhh, it’ll be alright. Shhh, it’s okay. You didn’t do anything wrong, it’s not your fault. It’s mine. I hurt you and I’m--”
“No!”
“No?” Deceit repeats.
“No, it--it--you didn’t do anything bad, you wouldn’t!” Anxiety says, nearly shrieking, “You’d never, ever, hurt me. We’re best friends and best friends don’t do that.”
A strange, choking noise erupts from Deceit. Anxiety looks to see Deceit’s human eye glistening. His best friend’s lips quiver, like Anxiety gets when he gets too scared to speak. Except Deceit is never scared. He always knows what to say in a situation, confident in ways Anxiety could never be.
“Oh, I’ve forgotten what you were like at this age,” Deceit whispers, so low that Anxiety thinks he wasn’t meant to hear it. Then Deceit shakes his head, a weird laugh escaping him. “You’re going to hate me, Anx. Or rather, you’re going to hate me more after this is all over.”
“You’re lying,” Anxiety accuses, his fingers tightening around the fabric of Deceit’s cloak, “You don’t mean that. I love you, Dee, you’re my best friend and--and...Big Me is still best friends with you, right?!”
Deceit inhales sharply, as if there’s something stuck in his throat. Before Anxiety can even grow concerned for his well being, he breaths out a long dramatic sigh.
He rolls his eyes, smirking, “Alright, you caught me.”
“I did?”
“Yes. I was only lying to scare you out of crying,” Deceit assures him, “I didn’t mean to scare you into thinking we weren’t best friends still. Of course we are.”
“G-good,” Anxiety huffs, “don’t scare me like that, Dee, I don’t like it!”
“I won’t do it again, I promise,” Deceit says, his smirk fading a bit as he takes on a somber expression, “it still isn’t your fault for what happened, Virg--Anxiety. Neither I or any of the others think it is. They certainly despise you for it.”
“Despise?” Anxiety’s heart jumps a bit, “Oh! You mean...you’re saying...they don’t despise me?”
“I don’t know,” Deceit raises an eyebrow, “Why don’t you try reaching out? See what their fears tell you.”
Anxiety closes his eyes, sticking his tongue out in concentration. If he thinks super hard, he can envision everyone's fears like spider webs, branching all over the mindscape, interconnected in some ways and in others, completely disconnected in each side's little corner.
And he is the itsy bitsy spider, that scuttles about and maintains the webs to some degree. Because a little bit of fear is good, it helps keep Thomas alive. So he traces the webs and searching for what Dee suggested. There is one thread present, in every nook and cranny of the web, he searches, even in the splinter-offs. One fear that repeats and loops through the whole network that he has never seen before.
"Oh." Anxiety breathes, eyes widening. They're not afraid of him. They're afraid for him, worried about his safety and wellbeing. Anxiety doesn't know what to think of that.
#kat answers#anon#tiny virge au#and yeah this is basically how I outline fics and stuff sorry im not too funny unlike some others in their outlines

Thoughts on TPN Season 2 finale (Ep. 11)
Warning: Mild manga spoilers ahead. Mild as in I have read the manga, but it’s been awhile since I read the manga, and I have not gone back to re-read to fact check sorry not sorry. Also, I will try to keep the spoilers to a minimum since some people may still want to read the manga (which YESSS, I definitely encourage you to :D), but some things are too big to leave out.
I specified ep. 11 because talking about the whole season would be wayyy too much. Honestly, I just wanted to come on here because this final episode was a roller coaster ride and I needed to say something. Each moment of this episode felt like 2 steps back, 1 step forward (and yes, I do mean in that order).
TW: mentions of character death/ suicide (only in the 2nd bullet point)
Let’s go:
Episode starts off with the “standoff” against Peter Ratri. I mean I’m glad that they didn’t convince Peter to leave for the human world with them. That would’ve made nooooo sense. But I couldn’t help but wonder if his flashback was really necessary. One, it was a bit frustrating to get more context about the Ratri clan’s role in the LAST EPISODE. Two, this season really did everything it could to take away from the role of William Minerva and detract from Peter Ratri, so it was kind of like why should we care now. I dunno, it just felt like the decision Peter and the Ratri clan made shouldn’t have been summed up into like 3 minutes. ON THE OTHER HAND, I see how it was “necessary” for what was to happen next.
Peter’s death was done better in the manga. I was honestly surprised the anime used the same method, since the context of the scene differs from what occurred in the manga. Also, prior to this episode, the anime had been rather tame with any gruesome scenes. Tame as in there were very few deaths and any deaths were quick, none of the main characters were killed. There was some discussion about how this season lacked the horror/thrill from season 1 and many battle scenes were also left out of the season. Therefore, people wondered just how dark this season would get, it seemed like they wanted to focus more on the kids. So even as a manga reader, I was still very shocked when Peter killed himself. Also, he did that in front of a bunch of kids, and they just continued on, like wasn’t that a scarring image???? I dunno, this is getting too long, but basically with the direction the season was going, I was shocked. Like am I dumb for thinking they would have toned it down???
Also, quick pet-peeve, personally thought it was weird for Peter to continuously refer to his brother as William Minerva. It would’ve made more sense to me if he referred to his brother as James. I’ll just assume this decision was made to show how Peter’s perception of his brother at that point was only of the illusion/character that James made (Peter had them kill William Minerva, not James Ratri)
WHY did they show the Queen and other nobles??? At this point, I got my hopes up thinking “Maybe there actually will be a 3rd season? Maybe we will still get Goldy Pond and other arcs, just in a different order?” It really felt like they were setting up for a whole new chapter (not at me getting excited)......
The BEST part of this episode was Ray’s speech to Isabella (and the other moms) and the decision for Isabella to go to the human world. Hands down best part and what should’ve happened in the manga.
Wasn’t sure whether to be in awe or upset that the gate to the human world looks like Goldy Pond. On one hand, it makes a lot of sense narratively. On the other hand, it kind of made it hurt more that we didn’t get the Goldy Pond arc. It would’ve been so much cooler after seeing the initial Goldy Pond.
SO, maybe this is from me not totally understanding what happened in the previous episodes, but I thought the Grace Field kids were split up amongst the other large farms, and then they decided to gather ALL the kids back to Grace Field -> they have all of the farm kids (even those from other farms)......Yeah, that may just be me missing something or not totally getting what’s happening. They kind of fix it by explaining how Norman also left some kids + there are the other farms like the mass production ones.
While I’m not the biggest fan of Emma/Ray/Norman + Lambda kids (minus Vincent) staying behind, I’m open to the change. HOWEVER, it bugged me that Don & Gilda didn’t also stay behind. I mean it made sense for Don & Gilda to go to the human world as the older kids BUT thematically I think it would’ve been better for Don & Gilda to stay behind as well. It’s kind of a point that Don & Gilda constantly have to make about their roles in the group, and them staying behind would have reminded me of when they led the search for Mujika (manga).
Also was a lil disappointed that Phil didn’t get to stay behind either. Just because it was so heavily alluded to that Phil was very smart & perceptive for his age + that he would have a big role. This kind of goes along with the small part of me that hoped for a season 3 with, I dunno, a smaller cast of Emma, Ray, Norma, Don, Gilda, and Phil.....was I hoping for too much
The decision to split up felt like a “more correct answer” to have the main trio go off and do stuff while everyone else stays safe. I suppose it’s easier to believe that everyone manages to survive when they’re all in the human world vs staying in a “safe shelter” in the demon world. I think this decision was also to further push the emphasis on the main trio.
Commence the slideshow....*sigh*
The montage of the kids in the human world was fine. Personally really liked seeing the kids get on a school bus (but they’re like lil geniuses so I think that’ll be interesting), Don & Phil on the subway/train, one of the moms (?) having a kid (that one really got me). But I was kinda sad to see the kids growing up, although I suppose it does make sense. A part of me wishes we got to know just how much time went by (but it’s not that major)
I don’t really get why they still showed Tifari and the Seven Walls. The promise was barely mentioned in the anime. With the direction this season went, I think they could have just had the group going around with Mujika, sharing her special blood, and then shown confrontation with the Queen & nobles. The adaptation already cut out other things, so I think it would’ve been fine to forgo showing Emma talking to Tifari. That scene also detracted from the whole journey it took to even find Tifari, so it was really a shame for it to be “included” but only be a snapshot of the moment.
For the sake of the direction of this season, they really could have just ended it with all of the humans going to the human world (while Mujika, Sonju, and the demons from that village change the demon world). This would have allowed the final escape at Grace Field to have been spread into 2 episodes rather than just 1.
Ends with a Phil & Emma hug. I mean that’s always nice. Kinda wish we got to see Phil in action and maybe doing something......I’ll stop my grumbling
jk. They totally missed the opportunity to do that anime thing where they play the opening/ending song during a moving moment. Like when the group split up, they could’ve played one of the songs while showing a montage of the kids in the human world + ending credits. And then after the song, we get the others returning + Phil & Emma hug.
TLDR: I’m fine with some changes, and could see the direction they were trying to go in, but what this season ultimately suffered from was EXECUTION. The pacing and the plot just....weren’t it chief, along with many other questionable decisions.
#long post#tpn#the promised neverland#yakusoku no neverland#tpn season 2#jt#just thoughts#yeah and this is just a reduced rant#but majority of my thoughts while watching this episode#it was just *big sigh*#sorry if this isn't coherent | it's me matching my thoughts but also trying to figure out justification for why CW did things this way#idk what i was expecting from the final ep (aside from the kids being saved) but it wasn't this#it just felt like they suddenly remembered the other details and things that were actually important to the storyline and character#so they just stuffed everything in#i feel like since they already decided to cut so much stuff | they could've cut more things & given us a simpler but put together ending#like I'm not dismissing The Promise or Emma's want to stay behind & help the demons but it just felt like this season could've gone w/out it#I also had a point to make about Sonju but the post is already too long lmao#tpn spoilers#tpn manga spoilers

The ABSOLUTE CRAZIEST shit happened on my Sims 3 game last night, so i’m going to make a long list detailing the events in chronological order.
Also note, my Sims are both fictional characters and OCs living on this resort-type lot. The lot is custom built, and the main focal point of the story is the pool, which is located in the center of the lot. In hindsight, this all could have been avoided had i had more step-ladders and had never added a fence around the edges to prevent Sims from climbing out. Also, it probably didn’t help that i used a trick to merge the basement with the pool, a trick that proves itself to be very buggy. I’ll be referring to Sims by their first names, and i’m only tagging/including the ones that are relevant to the story.
- The household i’m controlling is 8 people, 2 older adults and 6 younger adults, 7 are related to one another. At the beginning of this story, they’re all pretty spread out and split up in the place.
-Alice, the oldest youngster, is the only one at the pool besides her father Jack. She jumps in via diving board.
- ^ Seeing this, Jack decides to enter the nearby bar to “express fear of swimming” to Mei, who is listening to a woman named Salotta play piano. Mei doesn’t seem to want to respond to Jack, or she’s too enthralled with the piano playing to pay attention. He sits and waits there for many, many minutes.
- Meanwhile, Alice(OC) is already out of the pool, which is now filled to the brim with other sims. I initially don’t see this as a problem because they’re still able to swim around and use the ladders. What i don’t realize is the ones who have to wait on others to climb out are the ones in danger.
- Jack finally gives up trying to tell Mei of the impending disaster and just turns to face the piano player and listen. Again, i figure since he’s no longer worried about the pool, that the trouble is over. How wrong i am.
- Seconds later, Hoang(OC) drowns. Everyone’s first reaction is to immediately try and leave the pool.
Then, after climbing out, Lucio makes his way onto the water slide and re-enters the pool Hoang just died in.
- A majority of them just never leave the pool, in fact they started having a fucking breath holding contest. BLU Scout and Candie(OC), nearby also holding a contest are Troy and Alice. The choices Sims make in the face of death truly astound me.
- At this point, Hoang appears to have been blipped from existence because there’s no ghost, no corpse, no urn or gravemarker, and no sign of the Grim Reaper coming to get his body. The only one who’s reacting to his death is Guthard(OC) because they shared a household. Guthard also happened to be present in the pool when Hoang died.
- Back in the bar, everyone is reacting to the drowning with symbols that suggest they want to try to find Hoang’s body in the pool but can’t. Everyone in the pool appears stuck, like they, too, are searching or they’re just in total shock.
- ^ Remember, Jack has the Hydrophobia trait. He has a fear of swimming, and knew something bad was going to happen with the pool. But, against his better judgement he is now IN that very pool, looking highly distressed but again, he put himself in there. Also, people are still having underwater contests cause that’s what you do when someone drowns. - Also, he just casually turns into Jesus because of course he does:
- ^ The Grim Reaper finally shows up to try to collect Hoang’s ghost. But there’s a problem. He, like others, is climbing into the pool to try to find the body, but it’s not there. So he spends a good few minutes climbing in and out of the pool from different floors, taking the nearby tube elevators as he does.
- Suddenly, ANOTHER person drowns, this time it’s Akande (Doomfist). Now, HIS death is really fucky for several reasons. Shortly after he drowns, EVERYONE that was in the pool suddenly ascends through the roof of the lot. The only remaining Sim is Ashe because she was taking the water slide.
- After some searching, i find everyone NOT on the roof, but on the bottom floor in the basement area. Outside of the pool somehow.
- Now Akande is wandering around, apparently trapped in physical form so he’s not going to be collected to go to the underworld anytime soon:
-He produces TWO, i repeat, TWO gravemarkers in his name. One of these, i’m assuming is Hoang’s and the name’s just a misprint by the game, but there’s another glitch going on that is absolutely hilarious. - Akande is technically a ghost according to the game, since he started phasing through walls and doing the floating animation. But at the same time, he doesn’t have the ghost texture, and he’s able to interact with the environment like he never died, with the added bonus that he can haunt things and people.
- ^ Angela, whom always has some form of interaction with him in previous playthroughs, decides to strike up a casual conversation with him now that he’s a permanent ghost resident. Gabriel (Reaper), who’d been absent this entire time, suddenly rushes to the scene and looks at Akande like “oh what the f***?” - And just like other playthroughs Akande makes a mean comment to Angela which she berates him for before leaving. Even while dead, he’s still an ass.
- ^ I check on the other members of the household to see how they’re handling the chaos, Hazel(OC) is just in the kitchen sharing a canned soup lunch with Jenny(OC) so i’d say this didn’t get to him too much. Also, Akande decides to get himself a ghost salad from the mini-fridge:
- After eating the salad he goes and grabs one of the soccer balls from the “item shop” i have set up on the lot. Then everyone walks in and grabs a ball for themselves, now they’re taking soccer lessons from Akande’s ghost
- Alice, for some reason, goes all the way to the opposite end of the lot to play soccer not with Akande, but with BLU Scout from earlier - Akande sees himself in one of the mirrors on the lot and thinks he looks pretty good as a ghost - Then he goes upstairs and haunts a telescope for a few minutes
- ^ This also happens - Third drowning death happens out of nowhere, and it’s Juelle(OC). This leads to a cascade effect and Jenny(OC) drowns around the same time, and despite me taking the time to actually delete some of the fence now that i’ve suspected it to be the problem, it doesn’t prevent the next several deaths from happening - Mei is the next one to drown. And Angela just. Decided to quicken the process:
Mercy said “No heals 4 U” - Junkrat and Roadhog end up dying together which idk whether to be happy or sad about that, either way they died a couple - Candie and Tyreen go down next, followed by Ashe and Salotta (The piano player from earlier) - Lucio dies right next to the fucking step-ladder like he was gonna climb out and then just gave up
Like seriously dude - Troy lasted a pretty damn long time in this cursed fucking pool, but then he drowns as well:
- Akande is still living as a fucking ghost btw, and he’s casually floating past the pool as all of this happens like “hm. interesting.” - The Grim Reaper, meanwhile, FINALLY gets around to sending ghosts into the underworld. Sometimes people walk by it, react to it like it’s a roadshow, and go about their business. Just some normal everyday shit, y’know? - When he finishes, Grim goes down to the laundry room and does laundry for everyone, only to leave a soggy pile of clothes on the floor in front of the washing machine.
- ^ He also goes upstairs and mops up a puddle someone made, i guess someone pissed themselves seeing him or the ghosts - Laughs while pointing at Gabriel (mad he took the moniker of Reaper i guess?) and then just poofs out-of-scene - Moira starting mourning Akande and Roadhog (Junkrat and Roadhog were part of the Talon household cause convenience) in the kitchen which makes Akande start ghost crying - At this point the population on this lot has been dramatically reduced, so it’s actually impossible to fill it up to the point of overcrowding. And it seems that everyone’s learned their lesson, and they never get in the pool ever again. They just walk past it on their way to the bar or something. Also, shockingly, no one from my active household ended up dying. - However, Kyle(OC) ended up frozen for a few minutes because he was going to mourn basically EVERYONE who ended up drowning and that filled his action queue too full. I had to cancel the actions so he could use the bathroom and get some sleep
- TLDR This story ultimately ends, entire households have been decimated, pets have lost their owners to a fucking pool, i can’t do anything with the gravemarkers even on my own community lot, no one wants to go swimming ever again in their lives, i think i now have PTSD

Amnesia Memories Thoughts
will probably not be spoiler free lol
Shin
Shin is like... not my type LOL. Yes I like cold guys who are soft for you, but talk about a guy who’s always cold! Plus he calls you an idiot like all the time, like that’s not romantic! His route is actually not very romance heavy. He’s very much an action speaks louder than words kinda guy, except his actions are like a secret and you only really find out about them at the end. It’s clear he really loves the MC and is willing to do anything for her, and anything to make her like him. But personally I don’t think the route did a good job of showing why MC liked him, kinda just seemed like she was dating him cause he asked her out earnestly? Like its clear that he loves her, and I’m sure shes appreciates that, but does she even like him romantically?
Ikki
Also not my type. Ikki is the flirt, who has a fan club. Also as a person who grew up in the west, fan clubs for like cute guys just isn’t a thing so the whole fan club thing is absolutely bizarre to me. I would say that’s probably the most annoying part of the whole route, that you have to tiptoe around his fan club in order to make the relationship work. I think I liked how you could actually see that he really liked MC and was trying to make her happy (like Shin except more outwardly expressive). His route didn’t leave an impression on me though, it kinda plays out how you think it would. Or least to me it did.
Kent
The insensitive guy! Again, not my type. But he probably is my favourite route. I think it’s because he really changes how he talks, and acts to show MC how much he truly loves her. I really enjoyed how he was like I really like this, no wonder you were upset when I used to do that, I’ll change and be more like this from now on. It’s a lil sad to think about, how if MC did not have amnesia their relationship would not have worked out. Because of MC’s amnesia her actions towards him changed, and therefore his actions towards her also changed. Kent’s story is definitely the most light hearted one, and probably why it was easier to enjoy.
Toma
What the absolute flying fuck, I am not okay and I will never be okay with this! I think the only thing I learned from this is I rather date someone who wants to kill me than experience this.
Okay to expand a lil, Toma is the guy who takes cares of you, which is usually my type but... I kinda knew this guy was fucked up, especially after what happens in Shin’s route, so tbh I wasn’t necessarily shocked. But I did have to kinda pause the game and be like... so that happened, clearly the MC is going to forgive and love him in the good end cause that’s the whole point of otome games! To not give too much away, Toma is crazy overprotective, and he will go to the ends of the earth to make sure MC is safe.
Ukyo
The problem with playing Ukyo’s route after Toma’s is like I just unable to process this because I am still seething with anger. Another thing, I kinda feel like I shouldn’t have played this last, or I shouldn’t have like played the bad endings in the other routes before playing Ukyo. Because by the time I got to his route, I was very aware that he had two personalities, and I was very aware that he was traveling across worlds. In that sense, nothing about his route was very surprising to me, it kinda played out how I figured it would. I feel like I would have probably enjoyed his route more if I just played it first and then have my heart wretched in other routes when I saw him lol. But I’m sure most people would prefer to play him last. But now that I think about it, you can only play his route last so... LOL
I did like him though. I kinda wish his route had a lil more romance, I think most of the romance takes place in your memories, and in the current timeline it’s just like stay away from me I’m dangerous! His route is definitely more plot heavy, and quite the interesting story.
Overall Thoughts
I really liked how every route was different. In a way it was kinda like having amnesia yourself, because you don’t really know what to expect when you go into each route. Like in most routes Shin is your childhood friend, but in one route he isn’t and I talked to him without honorifics (which doesn’t really translate in english but lol) and I was like shit i fucked up! But like not knowing how to talk to each character when playing a new route did make things a lil more interesting to me, it felt more immersive!
If I had to rank the boys it would be something like Kent, Uyko, Ikki, and Shin. Toma doesnt even deserve a space on my list. He might as well not exist to me. I just really liked how Kent changes to become a better boyfriend for the heroine. Like she had her faults too, but those faults kinda went away with her memories. Also Orion is so supportive of you no matter what. What a trooper, he has no idea if your a bitch or nah but he’ll do whatever he can to help you regain your memories and keep you from sleeping with anyone!
TLDR: I would recommend this game, each story is different and unique and i quite prefer games that allow you to just pick which route you wanna play, instead of picking random options and ending up with a certain guy based on your choices. I don’t really think there needs to be an order when playing, since even your relationships with each character changes in the different routes, but Shin is a good one to start with, since he figures out that you have amnesia immediately so he introduces you to everyone.

I thought that side eye the grandmaster gave Loki was because he was waiting for someone to say how young he looked. But neither Thor or Loki took the hint. Seen as before he said "anywhere else I'd be a million years old but here on Saakar..."
Listen friend lmao, you have been mislead by the secret cover that taika Waititi created in order to pass this scene of scandulous dick sucking implication to a heteronormative, pg-13 audience. On a surface watch, yours will be the conclusion that many fans (and more importantly) movie critics and Kevin Feigi might draw. But on a deeper level of watching, the truth is revealed. But it’s not too late for you, my humble anon! I can bring you up to speed.
First of all, one must note that the Grandmaster did not look at thor when he said this. He looked specifically at Loki. If he was waiting for them to take the hint and say he looked young, why not look at both of them? If simply a narcissistic urge, the compliment would be just as good from either Odinson? Why single out Loki?
In my opinion, this targeted hint already sexually charges the exchange. Loki being singled out to give a compliment that’s related to how young (i.e. “hot”) the Grandmaster looks? Yeah. that’s the Grandmaster’s idea of flirting.
Not even to mention that erotic slow blink he gives Loki specifically.
Second of all, if you look closely at the gif, you’ll see that thor and loki have very different reactions.
thor looks confused. If one were to speculate, he may even look a little… in denial that this is even happening. but generally he looks confused. if it was so simple as you claimed, i feel like thor, lovely little social charmer that he is, would be able to catch the hint, even if he’s not feeling generous enough to act upon it. thus, he would look angry/annoyed. but no. he remains confused the whole time - and he looks to loki, not the grandmaster, to answer his confusion. this implies there’s more going on beyond the surface that he just can’t figure out. (or maybe doesn’t want to figure out. lmao, which would be fair considering it involves his brother sucking dick.)
loki, on the other hand, does not look confused At All. On a surface viewing, one may (mistakenly) assume that his expression meres thor’s as one of confusion because of the quick succession of facial shots. But taken on its own, Loki’s expression very much does not mirror thor’s. No, this supposed thirsty cockslut is not confused at all.
In fact his face goes through a VASt variety of expressions that we will have to look at individually in order to surmise his true reaction.
(Note: You’ll have to excuse my low quality screenshots because it is hard to find a screencap service that captures each emotion since they happen so fucking fast >.>)
#1: Does this look like confusion? Hell no! this is the face of a man whose brain is about 15 seconds behind the conversation and who just heard something that shrieks at his synapses to HURRY tHE FUCK UP like “oh my god is this really happening? Did I really just understand what was said? Am I even real right now like what just happened?” Our boy is fucking so dizzy that he’s all dulled and half-surprised like he’s waiting for his mouth to start working.
#2: His brain has finally caught up and oh boy is he SHOCKED. He is just like “oh FUCK this IS really happening, i DID really understand what was just said, i AM real and oh FUCK oh NO”. this is the face of shock. of borderline horror. like oh my god thor is standing right there and you be fucking flirting with me right in front of him, but luckily, on the plus side,
#3: his mouth has started working again. whether or not he chooses to use it, he has the capacity for higher thought and speech now. and with this newfound ability, does he look confused? does he look annoyed? HELL NO. He looks like he’s sweating up his shirt. He looks like a man of FEAR. he wants to start babbling, start explaining himself because thor CANNOt know the truth. he’s all like, “what is thor thinking of me? has he figured it out? what can I say to defend myself?” that cute little eyebrow scrunch of sadness conveys the homerotic dubcon tension mmmm, and oh boy he DOES NOt WANt tO BE HERE, he DOES NOt WANt tHOR tO BE HERE, he wants fucking OUt of this mind game the Cock Master is playing with him, which leads us to….
#4: finally we reach the final stage of grief: acceptance. Our boy is resigned here. this is the face of a man who has just realized the Grandmaster has set him up in this situation deliberately to watch as he squirms. this is the face of a man how is pressing his lips together to avoid babbling excuses about his dick sucking situation. this is the face of a man who knows he is powerless and utterly at the Grandmaster’s whim. and wow is he mightily (but quietly) resentful ;)
tldr; yes of course the grandmaster wanted somebody to com4liment his youthful looks. it’s just that he wanted the somebody to be Loki and he wanted it to be Loki so that he could be like “HAHAHA WE’RE FUCKING AND YOU DON’t WANt YOUR BROtHER tO KNOW AND I CAUGHt YOU MMMHMMMMHMMMM~~~~~ YOU ARE MINE AND YOU ARE HELPLESS”
third of all, what do you think this is if not, “you are my trophy concubine and you are not allowed to say no to me” homoerotic tension lmao:
fourth and finally, like and i genuinely apologize if you were just trying to have a fun conversation with me :(
please and thank you lol, and i hope you can enjoy my two ted talks now

not gonna lie - me finally getting around to making part 2 is bc kangin’s departure has me going through some shit so i figured we all needed some nostalgia
also a number of y’all vaguely requested / shamed me in the tags to do this for the other members
(@SM: please let there be a OT15 talk/variety show special for their 15th anniversary, just to get the whole crew together to talk about the good times, i’m begging you)
if you want to know my deeper thoughts about scandals/departures, it’ll be below the cut
other SJ powerpoint memes by me: beginner’s guide to SJ part 1 / welcome back kyu
thesis statement:
SJ always talks about how they want to do a comeback with everybody, aka as many members as possible. they’re adults, they’re not naive, they know their members best. let them do a comeback with as many people as they want.
they’re adults, let them make their own decisions, and respect those decisions.
they didn’t thrive for 13+ years in the industry and make their own sublabel by mistake y’all, they know what they’re doing
about kangin:
yes, drinking and driving is a trash thing to do. it’s especially a garbage thing to do twice. thankfully no one was hurt, but to do the same thing twice in seven years isn’t a great track record.
being an idol is stressful - and there’s a number of healthy and unhealthy ways to cope with the pressure. alcohol is definitely one of them. i think the fact that both times kangin turned himself in to police says something about his character. it’s not like he thought he was above the law. he’s taken his punishment and feels regretful about these incidents.
given the number of rehab stints western artists go through, i’m not super shocked that this is something kangin struggled with. what i find scarier is that he didn’t feel like he had someone he could lean on to call to get him home.
alcohol misuse (i am refraining from saying abuse/addiction bc i don’t have enough information to feel confident in slapping a label on kangin) isn’t something you’re born with, it’s the result of a multitude of things/stressors happening in your life.
it pains me to see him leave SJ. i selfishly wish this decision had been made earlier. his last offense was in 2016 - it’s been three years of some of us ELF clinging onto a thread of hope that he’d be able to participate in activities again. i can only imagine that kangin has been going back in forth in his head for all this time wondering whether he should throw the towel in.
sad hours: seeing those photos of SJ holding each other at the airport when they found out kangin made that announcement is just...depressing - kudos to them for still being able to hold it together to slay in saudi arabia
about sungmin:
the tldr is the timing of sungmin’s relationship/marriage, and the way he went about it wasn’t great.
as i mentioned on the slide, whenever you start a romantic relationship with someone, you have to start playing the balancing game of spending time with your SO versus with your friends. in sungmin’s case, when friend time is also technically work time, this put a strain on the team dynamic.
especially when sungmin’s overall level of diligence/responsibility regarding SJ things began to drop, it’s understandable that the team started to become skeptical about saeun, marriage, and what not. they were rearranging entire promotion schedules for him. that’s not easy when the group is this big.
it definitely didn’t help when sungmin just went off and said something along the lines of “if you don’t want to support me anymore, i’m fine with it, you can leave” in response to haters telling him to leave SJ. definitely a move made in the heat of the moment, along with a number of other sorta petty moves that set off antis even more.
all this being said, it has been five years. the beginning of a romantic relationship is much more distracting/time consuming than being n years married. SJ has moved on, so why can’t the antis?
(hey, remember when sungmin showed up for kyuhyun’s pre-public service meal? remember how things were a-okay between the members in 2016 ?? it’s 2019 now guys come on)
about zhoumi and henry:
now that henry’s kinda YOLO’d off on his own, i have zero idea what the status of SJM is (SM, you can’t keep hiding zhoumi in the closet forever)
i really want an SJM comeback, but with 2/3 of the china crew gone, and sungmin’s nebulous status, it’s highly unlikely
:/ :/ keep doing your thing, i guess

emilie de ravin, cis female ( she/her ), pansexual. did you hear ? CLAIRE LITTLETON, a ( canon ) character in ( LOST ), went deviant FIVE MONTHS ago ! now they’re a 22 y/o server. people either think they’re [ KIND-HEARTED & FRIENDLY ] or [ SENSITIVE & NAIVE ] but associate them w/ sandy beaches, peanut butter straight out the jar, converse, emo phases, blonde waves, stars, & knitted baby booties either way. they DON’T remember going into the jungle to find the vaccine. ( pace, she/her, gmt. )
in a shocking turn of events, i have interests other than musicals !!! tbf, lost and waitress are pretty much my two favourite things, but that’s besides the point ! this is claire & i’ve played her in a few different places over the space of, like two or three years, i think ? so i am, to put it lightly,,, extremely overly attached.
CANON FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW:
i assume most people are familiar with lost tbh even if they haven’t seen it, but tldr: a plane flying from sydney to los angeles crashes on an island. drama and sci-fi fun ensues !
claire’s life has been pretty hard tbh. she was driving the car that ended up putting her mother in a coma, she then met the dad she’d been told was dead in hospital after that crash, went to live with her aunt who blamed her for her mother’s hospitalisation, she had to live the next few years feeling guilty re her mum, and living with the fact that one of the last thing she said to her mum was that she hated her, she then got pregnant unexpectedly but decided to keep the baby after her boyfriend essentially talked her into it and had her thinking that a baby could be wonderful despite her very valid concerns, said boyfriend then chickened out AND LEFT HER, leaving her to deal with the pregnancy all on her own, she then decided to give the baby to a family who could look after it better than she should, but was adviced by a psychic that nobody else should raise her baby but her & bad things would happen if it grew up without her kindness and her spirit, got harassed by said psychic, and then ended up on an island thanks to said psychic because he knew the plane would crash and it would stop her from giving the baby up. and that was only before the island !!!!! after the crash the poor git got kidnapped after several attempts were made beforehand and nobody believed her but charlie ( shoutout to my mans ) she had a baby in the middle of the jungle which tbh just sounds like the most unsanitary thing on the planet to me, had her baby stolen from her, her baby then got sick, she nearly drowned, she got sick, her boyfriend died, THE LIST GOES ON. WE DON’T EVEN TALK ABOUT JUNGLE!CLAIRE. she was essentially used as lost’s chew toy but i’m,,, clearly,,,, not bitter,,,,,
good news is, claire’s only canon up to her baby getting sick ! she got kidnapped while pregnant with him, and was so drugged up while she was gone that she couldn’t remember a damn thing by the time she got back, but when baby aaron got sick, she began getting flashes of her time when she was taken, and remembered that The Others(tm) had been giving her injections, and since she was told it was medicine for the baby, she went off into the jungle to go and hunt for it to help him
FUNKY RP STUFF:
luckily, claire was holding her son, aaron, when she escaped her canon world, so he’s with her ! and because canon is Gone, he’s perfectly healthy !
memory loss isn’t something that’s foreign to claire in canon, so it felt fitting for her not to remember anything before arriving. she knows aaron is her son ( motherly bonding thing ? who knows ) but can’t remember anything else, and thinks she’s from this world and that aaron was born in blue creek
tbh she’s not qualified for much, so i gave her a job as a server as it matched one of her canon jobs ( the other was a piercer in a tattoo studio but like,,, with a gun,, and..... bro don’t let anybody pierce you with a gun it’s 2019 just don’t do it. she’s not qualified to actually properly pierce ? plus she was like 17 at the time so like,,, sketchy ) and i’m just thinking that her job maybe has a creche for lil aaron since she doesn’t really trust people with him and he’s still REALLY young. the lil guy is only five months old, but claire needs to earn money somehow so !!! we’re winging it !!! but aaron will probably be present in most threads, but i know that babies are a big Nope for some people so no worries if that makes you uncomfy and you’d rather skip that, just hmu !
despite her hardships, claire’s lovely. she’s definitely one of lost’s softest characters, bless her. she has a heart of gold, and a very hopeful view of the world at times. even when a lot of people had come to terms with the fact they might be on the island forever, claire still hoped they’d get home one day, even if she didn’t logically think they actually would. her mother’s love of nature has given her some wildlife knowledge, she’s very much intro astrology and will happily do your chart for you, she’s usually chirpy, a little naive, very much still getting a hang of this whole Adulting thing, let alone the whole Mothering thing. she’s honestly just trying her best. but she’s very nice !! easy to get on with !!!! maybe a little sceptical at points !!! realising that everything was just on repeat was probably weird for her, and it would’ve been a very shifty-eyed moment and tentatively trying to go off script and change the narrative while being Very Scared
it’s a good thing her memories are gone tbh, as otherwise she’d be feeling even more,,, ahem,,, lost. like the people on the island became like a family to her and helped her out in so many ways, especially with aaron and coming to terms with motherhood. and she doesn’t remember how much help she used to get, or how minimalist looking after aaron could be when all they had was the bare minimum. she doesn’t have to compare her time, or miss the people she grew to love, especially charlie, kate, locke, sun etc. plus her life sucked and she was sad, so all’s well now, my child
so she’s just trying to get by ! nice young lady with a crappy job and a baby just trying to live her life !

Alright here it is. The Outlast 2 rant nobody asked for. There are spoilers, if you care to read. Also, a lot of mention of sexual/child abuse, so if that really gets you please don’t read (and also don’t play the game).
Alright, so I finished Outlast 2 yesterday and I’m just really... disappointed.
I feel like I should say this beforehand, I didn’t hate the game. I just really love Outlast 1, and was expecting the same quality scares and story from this game. But, you know how that goes.
Let’s start.
The game in it’s entirely relied FAR to heavily on shock imagery. Like, waaaaaaay too much. To the point where 90% of the game wasn’t even all that scary, it was just disgusting or made you very uncomfortable. Now, I’m not saying shock imagery in horror games is bad, hell, Outlast 1 had plenty of that, it’s just when your game is basically entirely like that... Surprise, it becomes very un-shocking and not so much scary as just really uncomfortable. :/ The first time you see a pile of dead babies, it’s intense and unsettling, scary even. So is the next time. But the next? And the next? And then you have to read about all the baby murder, and here people talk about the baby murder... It just gets worn out.
A vast majority of the game I just felt... Gross... Or felt really sad for the people in the game. Rape and disturbing sexual themes is a HUGE part of this game, which brings me to my next complaint. It is just. Too. Much. All the women in the town are basically getting horribly sexually assaulted. You see it. You read it. You hear it. You experience it everywhere in the game. Blake, the character you play as, even gets raped at a point in game, and though it’s brief, you still have to go through it. And then to top it all of, you experience it through a child. Though you don’t see or hear that part happening, you know it’s going to, and the whole time you feel just fucking awful and nasty (at least I did). Is that horror? Yes, but not necessarily something that should be in a horror game, especially in such large fucking doses. It is so unnecessary, and again, more than being “scary” just left me feeling all around bad, gross, and uncomfortable.
Another thing that really pissed me off was the character Papa Knopf, who was a dreadful sack of shit cult leader and main villain of the game. You really fucking hated this guy, and in that sense, he was a good villain. Throughout the whole game you get hounded, mutilated, attacked, and nearly killed countless times by this dudes people, and you see all the fucked up horrible things he does to everyone in this town (you know, all the RAPE AND BABY MURDER THAT IS FUCKING ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE). Like, this fucking dude is sexually assaulting all the women in the village, giving them syphilis (which they then give to their husbands) and then throwing them deep in the mountains to suffer and die horribly because what is happening is not his fault, it’s a “sign from God” that God wants them to suffer (while Knopf himself gets medicine from the outside world, something he strictly bans). So, he’s the fucking worst, and I really looked forward to a Walrider type scene with Chris Walker, where he just get’s fucking ripped apart... but it doesn’t happen. In the end, he just slits his neck and ends his own life. It’s frustrating, and very unsatisfying.
The game revolves around a biblical theme, and I honestly did enjoy near the end when all the bible-foretold-Armageddon type events were happening, I thought that was really cool. What I didn’t like was how easily it was to miss huge chunks of the story because they are scattered on notes that are in the most random af places. Outlast 1 did the same sort of thing with files, but all the files were in pretty easy to find areas, and a vast majority (if not all of them) were in locations you could gather them without being hunted at some point, so you had a chance of getting the whole story. Not in Outlast 2. I mainly bring this up because I didn’t end up picking up an important note detailing that that big ass tower that none of the people in the village knew what it was or where it came from, was sending out signals fucking everyone’s brains up and that it was a Murkoff owned building. I put two and two together about it being owned by Murkoff, but I had no clue that is messed with peoples minds. I just figured Blake finally lost it because of all the fucked up shit he was seeing. But it definitely helps explain why their chopper crashed, all the people in the town are so messed up, and the fact he was experiencing biblical atrocities. The fact that I missed it so easily is just kind of bad design (and I am someone who thoroughly inspects every nook and cranny in games).
And that brings me to the ending of the game. Now, I know they wanted to leave things “open ended” so people could come to their own assumptions, but there is leaving things open ended and then just not fucking explaining things, which is what outlast 2 did. There is a big discussion over Lynn’s baby, and her quote as she is dying saying “there is nothing there”. A lot of people think she was referring to heaven and hell not existing, which I can get on board with, except for that fact that the whole game really nails in the whole biblical stuff (lol Jesus joke), and if all these crazy occurrences can happen (Lynn having immaculate conception being one of them), then I feel like it makes more sense to just have the baby not exist, have it be the thing that isn’t there (at least that’s how I see it). But the point is this, it’s just kind of lackluster after all the shit you just fucking suffered through. Does this baby exist? If it does, then how could Lynn get pregnant and give birth so quickly without it being a miracle from god, and then saying there is no god? And if it doesn’t exist and everyone is all crazy and hallucinating from the ~evil tower rays~ (which is what I feel) then nothing is really accomplished. I mean, nothing is really accomplished anyway because Blake dies (I guess) a few minutes later, along with everyone in the town. In a flash of bright light. That’s it. The end. It was incredibly anticlimactic.
But as stated above, I didn’t hate it. In fact some parts I really liked. I felt overall the mechanics were better. I liked how filming stuff was actually important and not to just to mainly use your camera to see in the dark (though I have to admit, filming some of the stuff was kind of tedious, or a pain to capture). And while overall I felt the Outlast 1 villains and chase sequences were much more horrifying and legitimately scary, Outlast 2 had it’s fair share of terrifying moments. My favorites being Val’s heretics (the ones without eyes and all the twigs on their heads). Though their noises got a little obnoxious, they were pretty damn horrifying and spooked me pretty bad. I also like Marta a lot. She played the Chris Walker type role, in that she was a constant threat following you throughout the game. Walker as a whole was a better villain in my opinion, but Marta just looked so damn cool. The first time you see her, impossibly tall, stalking from the shadows? Badass and truly terrifying. I also really loved the school scenes. They did a good job of keeping me guessing with Jessica’s story, and the atmosphere of the school was chilling and unsettling. The monster in the school was really rad too.
Alright here is the TLDR:
So, overall, Outlast 1 is much better. Scarier, more consistent and has a more quality story, better villains/chase sequences, and just all around much scarier. I think I probably speak for a lot of people when I say that I wish 2 tied in more to 1, but it it what it is. And again, I didn’t hate Outlast 2 and it wasn’t a bad game, it just has a lot to improve on. And they REALLY NEEDS TO TONE DOWN ON ALL THE HORRIBLE SEXUAL MUTILATION STUFF CHRIST WE GET IT CALM DOWN.
... This was a lot longer than I thought it would be. Forgive me. Thanks for reading if you did!!!

Why Michael’s death is really a game changer
Let me preface this by stating that I have not seen Monday night’s episode. I have no plans to watch it, or really any future episode of Jane the Virgin. I normally livestream JTV but this week I didn’t. I found out about Michael’s death by watching a promo for next week’s episode.
I’m upset. I’m irritated. Mostly I’m just sad. I began watching JTV after the S1 finale. I had read EW recaps periodically out of curiosity because the premise seemed so bizarre, but after watching the S1 finale and subsequent S2 premiere is when I became hooked. My main hook was Jane and Michael’s relationship. I fell in love with them as solo entities, but their relationship hit me right in the feels. It was so genuine, so supportive, it felt as real as a fictional relationship could, like I could walk past them at a bookstore laughing about the next Angelique Harper.
I loved Jane the Virgin. The writing was so clever, so funny and heartfelt, the characters were so interesting and their relationships were so well developed. But Michael’s death changes all of that for me. I thought Jenni Snyder Urman was a genius for creating this show, for taking the concept of this telenovela but grounding it, making fun of some of the tropes, never really going into the campiness that Shondaland shows (closest things to a soap these days) sometimes head into. But the unnecessary death of Michael Cordero Jr. takes that opinion away. THIS is campy. This is killing off people for shock value/lazy storytelling in the age of HTGAWM and Game of Thrones. If this was truly the plan all along then I’m sorry but you had a shitty plan.
There was no valid reason for Michael to die other than it was the only way for them to put Jane and Rafael back together. You’re not doing it to flip Jane’s world/path around à la the pilot if theres a time jump. You’re killing Michael because you painted yourself into a corner with how lovely Villadero’s relationship was because it would be completely OOC for Jane to leave Michael AGAIN when she’s repeatedly chosen him over Raf. And the bullshit company line of “when we slipped that line in in S1, we were setting you up for Michael’s death”. Nope. That line could’ve meant that Michael would love Jane until his dying breath at 110. If we’re looking at lines, what about the one about his “illustrious detective career” in the pilot? 3(?) years as a detective where you were fired twice and never caught Sin Rostro is not what I would consider an illustrious career. Especially since Michael died after taking his LSAT. You being “stuck with a plan” even though you were able to prolong his death because you “loved Brett so much” is the HIMYM excuse of 2017. Not to mention the way you killed him was extremely weak. Michael is presumably no more than 6 months out from being shot, where he had major cardiac trauma and surgery. NO ONE is going to say to him “Oh you’re having chest pains? Let’s not brush that off until after your LSATs, we’re going to the ER right now. You were shot in the chest!!!” (Seriously the Jane we love would’ve done that)
Finally, I want to talk about how this really messes up the show. You’ve just severed your tie to Sin Rostro, which in the absence of this first half of the season, made the show a bit weaker. I really don’t care about Raf’s parent problems, or Xo’s career, I wanted Michael back on the force looking for Sin Rostro, protecting his family and getting that victory. Supposedly Michael’s detective friend will be the new tie to this investigation but again, he’s Michael’s friend, Michael is now dead and he has no real ties to anyone else the way Michael did. You’ve just lost a source of some good parenting storylines involving Jane and Raf’s co-parenting with Michael as Mateo’s stepdad. If Jane and Raf get back together there will be no parenting dramas for B-storylines as Raf will go back to his “what can I do to make Jane happy?” days. And do I even need to mention the loss of the bromance?
TLDR: I’m done. I’m sad that I am because I will miss this show, but you know what? Michael’s death just proved that this show wasn’t great to begin with.

You know what white people-
I’ve been thinking about this and why you’re like that???? And????
You have no community. *shrugs*
And I meant we already discussed no culture. But like no unity outside of your hatred. When you gather together what do you make? A fucking mess. Everywhere you fucking go and you just can’t fucking stop. Even with the possibility of war reigning down on our heads.
You borrow the rake from your neighbor’s but don’t bother to put it back. You didn’t notice that this lawn is piling up with leaves. You didn’t bother to sweep up the front beause you were too tired.
Then you come into my house and eat my food. I would’ve been happy to share it, but I was running low this month but you eat it all anyways. You were feeling peckish. It’s lunchtime.
Then you come into my room and try on my clothes and now you’re being fucking creepy. Like maybe if this was a sleepover this would be appropriate but you’re really not fucking getting it.
Then you take my foundation and put on my COLOR! And you are getting shit everywhere. You are messing up my house! And so I yell, “Stop. You’ve taken enough.” And you’re angry. And you still have the audacity to be indignant.
“But my needs are important too.”
Yes they are. But you don’t see that I’m weak. I’m sick. I’m on the brink of dying and your next step is to be sad about it!! My rake is gone and the leaves are piling cause I am too sick to take care of it. And you ate my food even though I’m rationing but keep your belly full. And you took my clothes to try out my experience? What is like to be me for a day? Like you think you feel dread??? And you take my skin cause you can’t grow your own and actually take enough criticism to make the changes this world sorely needs.
And you shout me down. And you shout me down. And you shout me down cause you’re mad. You’re mad that you can’t find that peace. And so you take it from everyone else and force us to look as you try to mimic it. Community. Unity. Solidarity. Resistance. You want to feel my emotions on tv and books and shows cause you think they’re exciting and tragic and beautiful. Those characters are your dolls to experience racism and try your best to break even those characters in your art and fanfiction.
I see that character, someone, maybe not exactly like myself, but enough to know they are coping with a shit hand. My instinct is to protect them.
But you can’t even let those characters have some light. You have to grow in EVERYONE’s sunlight.
Are your friends, your friends? Do you check on them? Do you just take because you recognize you have a need? Are you using the imbalanced power you have to tip the scales in your favor or are you going treat this as a personal growth experience. A real test to your character!
GUESS FUCKING WHAT!
While you were treating protesting like a safari, We!! are asking hard questions about our own moralities and our characters every moment!! What am I willing to do to protect myself? Where do I go to protect myself? How do I start to protect myself? How do I protect my neighbor?
How do I protect my neighbor?
And some people want me stop being so militant. Are you all done being shocked yet?
tldr;
WHITE PEOPLE!! DON’T STOP MARCHING!! WHEN POC and Jewish People
MARCH FOR OUR LIVES!!!
Because if I don’t see you committed to us I might leave you behind.
#shut up charlie#like maybe these analogies are imperfect but snap out of your own bubble for one second and think about where you are lifting your voices#like does this make sense#I don't care I'm tired and angry#white people#white privilege#I am 1000% serious#I am committed to solidarity and white people can join but they better be working hard like we have#because I can't feel like I can stop#If I do I might not make it to them#We are depending on each other more than ever and you could actually help for once

I'm so embarrassed. So to crate context this is a bit long.I'm newish to the dating scene (autocorrect said 'scheme' - ironic?) after 8 years of a relationship, 4 being marriage. For the sake of tldr - it ended after years of emotional abuse (him to me) yada yada miserable bs. I came out of that relationship ready for the next phase of my life, so I began online dating. I was interested in just meeting people and seeing what the scene was like after being monogamous for close to a decade. Most people I've met so far have been underwhelming, then came 'Tinder J' Successful, handsome, and liberal - like did I conjure this guy? First date goes amazing and we end up back at my place and hooked up, and it was great. Fine, 0 expectations. He's in a similar relationship situation (divorce pending) so there wasn't the committal pressure and the vibe was just fun.Fast forward to date 6. Preceding this date,, He's slept over a couple times and even met my bff. We had a date on Tuesday this week that was so lovely and ended with passionate sex.So now I like this guy, shit. Silver lining, It's the little sprout of feeling in my desert of emotions, and for the first time in a looong time I felt a slight bit of hope that maybe I could peek a bit into the future. We'd been texting back and forth tonight about meeting up - I'm with the gals, he's with his buddies. Around 1130 he invites me out to meet them. I'm ecstatic. An ecstatic idiot so wrapped up (already)and flattered that I get to meet his friends, that i completely don't realize the bar I'm meeting them at is a strip club.So I get there, walk in, see the girls and think, 'I can roll with this' and go to find J. There's some poor stretched belly chick sitting on his lap. Fine. I greet the group and get myself a glass of wine. He leans over and chats with me and introduces me to lap stripper. Fine. I'm doing my best to settle in (this is my first time as a strip club - but more power to these chicks, feminism ftw) but I'm just feeling... uncomfortable. It was all so seedy and kind of sad. The girls were nice but seeing these good looking well off dudes run on these girls was so unsettling. Or so I felt. Just when I thought I could hang for a bit, he leans over and says that I can pick a girl and we can go into a back room and "do whatever". This is where I realized what he must think of me. I'm this tattooed prettyish girl that has a good job but smokes weed and play video games, but thats precisely why he's into me - is it not? We'd never talked about this sort of thing and it was just way more for me (emotionally) than I expected. So I excused myself to the restroom where strippers were in line for the only toilet on that floor - and saw myself in the mirror in my new pretty dress and lipstick and felt like a fucking fool. So I went over to him, he's suupeerr cozy with the girl who has yet to leave his lap - (I'm talking thigh rubbing and some light snuggling) and kissed him on the cheek and said I was going to head out and he should call me later. I was shaking at this point, my emotions were everywhere but i played it cool. No need to be dramatic. He protested but I insisted he stay and enjoy the rest of his night - he is newly single after all. I get it. So I got in a cab and rode home in scilence with disappointment and humiliation tanunting me the whole way. The tears came as I got ready for bed, and I felt the need for some solicited advice/opinions/anything.Like i feel like he thinks I'm just some wild girl who will bridge his relationship status to someone he really wants? Or was I just caught off guard? Or am in overreacting? Guys can you help? Girls how you would feel? I gave him the wrong idea didn't I.The kicker is that I don't even mind strip clubs, I know what they are, so truly these feels are a little shocking to me.Tldr; guy I really like invited me out but it tuned out to be a strip club and he wanted me to do the 'champagne room' with him and it made me sad. via /r/dating_advice
