I don't have a twitter account and refuse to get one so I can't jump in on there, but I just gotta say *something* about the whole thing of Chris "throwing Taika under the bus." Did anyone saying that read the article?? Chris doesn't even mention Taika! He just says he feels like he didn't do a good job there. How is that in any way disparaging Taika??
I get people hate Love and Thunder so much that even mentioning its existence is enough for some people, but questioning if Chris and Taika are still friends because Chris wasn't happy with his performance is a little much. This is not saying "hey go attack Taika for making me make this movie," this is saying "I didn't do the best I could and I think the film suffered for it."
Anyone who thinks that is Chris inviting people to attack Taika is just reading pure bad faith. Anyone who thinks they had a fight is reading pure bad faith and making huge assumptions about two people they don't know. I doubt Chris even pays attention to the online hate and was in no way thinking to sic the rabid Marvel bros on Taika again. He was talking about a role he had and thought he didn't do the best at and he is perfectly in his rights to discuss that. It was barely a short paragraph in a long article and anybody who takes it as a cue to go after Taika just wants an excuse, not that they need one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay so i’m not entirely sure if this is all supposed to be directed at me but to clarify, i never said chris was attacking or throwing taika under the bus. i was actually the one to bring up the fact that afaik they’ve been friends since pre-ragnarok. i have zero issue with chris as a person or an actor. your last sentence basically sums up the entire point i was making, anon.
i know that chris is just being critical of himself. he’s talked about his issues with his performance before, it’s not news. i’m a bit upset to hear it because i honestly love the movie, but he has every right to feel that way. and he has the right to talk about it.
all i was saying is that it’s exhausting and annoying that any time anyone involved with tlat does some sort of press tour, we know they (as in the media) are going to start pushing the whole “so-and-so says they hated working on this movie and it was a miserable soul-sucking experience” narrative for clicks. and like clockwork, the dudebros come crawling back out to swear their undying hatred for taika and how he “ruined thor” and is a talentless hack who should never be allowed to direct anything again because he made one movie they didn’t like.
they have the right to talk about it. and i know they sometimes don’t necessarily have a choice if interviewers keep bringing it up. but i also stand by my point that everyone (that includes the cast, the media, and the marvel fanboys) needs to stop dwelling on something they pretty much only have negative feelings about. like taika clearly has. we get it. there are regrets. it wasn’t well-received. it’s been two years. let’s get over it and move on to new things.

I am going to start linking these to people that don't criticize the queer rep correctly or consistently (because it's definitely NOT ENOUGH and the promos were misleading with gf rep). Lady Loki is NOT Loki as a woman. Lady is a title like "Lord" and it's combined with Loki because Loki stole her body. Refer to Loki as a woman as just Loki, Loki Laufey/Odin-dotter or Princess Loki, you know, with titles Loki actually has.
It's also pretty shitty you're also blaming an actress that had no say on how the series was written. It's Marvel. Even the directors have to acquiesce to the demands of higher-ups, and I get the feeling that Kate Herron describes her fight to get Loki's bisexuality confirmed VERY EUPHEMISTICALLY. Nia DaCosta recently talked about it rather euphemistically too. And it's pretty evident that Disney just puts them to take all the blame for whatever they failed to get in or Disney wanted them to bait while failing to get it (e.g. The genderfluid Loki promos, Natalie Portman being put on the spot to say TLAT was "so gay").
While DaCosta tried to bring as much of her voice into the MCU as possible, she still noted to Vanity Fair that “The Marvels” is “a Kevin Feige production, it’s his movie. So I think you live in that reality, but I tried to go in with the knowledge that some of you is going to take a back seat.”
I can't speak on S2 writer Eric Martin following that transphobic hag, man's on thin fucking ice for that (yet I don't see his other projects as hated as this one). But if you're going to complain about the queer rep, do it right and stop pinning excessive blame on an actress that has no say in the show's writing (and conveniently exclude other cast members that happen to be men and acting like she's the worst, when one cast member got arrested for DV after S2 was filmed in a trial I am not following).
I guess I don't support Disney/Marvel or the series monetarily either way because I love piracy and I have not supported Disney since they tried to TM one of my people's holidays. But some of this criticism is very inconsistent and in bad faith, and I felt the need to call it out.
I also think it's inconsistent that you think Thor can be a title as in Jane being the Mighty Thor rather than the "Goddess of Thunder", yet you don't think Loki can be treated as an archetype for scapegoated characters. You're being unfair by deeming Sylvie a "character in the vision of a TERF."
I also find it funny you guys NEVER complain about how "Lady Loki" (Loki possessing Sif's body) is a huge transphobic dogwhistle. One of the links I embedded (second) talks about it in better detail.
Did a Video on why not to support the Loki Series because it is run by Terfs
I almost forgot that this was going to upload today, but it works good because they are releasing it early, down side is I meant to have it in the middle of the week to not be too early or late but Disney just had to ruin that like they always do. But anyways it's just me talking about how the series in run by terfs.

since they're in the business of killing off heroes, i think marvel is going to take out starlord next. he's had his development, five movies, and a scandal. pratt probably won't hurt disney's bottom line so they'll try to keep him as long as possible, but i think starlord's days are numbered.
bautista has threatened their profits before, so they might have drax on the chopping block but gotg is about the ensemble and removing drax would throw off the balance. the plucky protag can be easily replaced, but the supporting cast is crucial. the only way to kill certain characters is to end the franchise
as long he gets to play thor comedically hemsworth seems happy to stick around. they're clearly trying to replace him with female characters, but idk how well replacing mr testosterone will work out financially. love and thunder may be thor's last film, but idk if they'd kill him. maybe
i don't think disney is dumb enough to kill off more female protagonists in this new era of "make every hero and villain female! girl power is a gold mine!" until saldana and gillan get tired of sitting in the makeup chair for 7hrs that is. and who knows how long portman will endure her new role, she was not happy last time and marvel movies still don't seem her speed

I feel like I've had the simultaneously unoriginal but also god-level thought of casting amybeth and Lucas as Lily and James respectively. It literally fits the more and more I think about it. At least Amybeth really does

wanted to make a post ranting about how much tlat fucked over val but it's so bad that it isn't worth the brain power it would take to write an essay so here's a list of bullshit. tlat spoilers obviously
this movie just unnecessarily made val into a slutty bisexual who has commitment issues? like, why was she like "an orgy sounds great" while thorjane (the straights) were like ew
the way they reduced her to the token black friend who is there purely to support the white mains??? like that was the vibe I got from the trailer but this was somehow worse??? she got virtually nothing???
why are the asgardians respecting thor more than val when she's their king and the one whose been taking care of them while thor's been fucking around having his fifteenth midlife crisis???
tessa said that there was a version of the script where her whole storyline was just about finding a queen and she had to step in because it was dehumanizing and the focus on val needed to be about her being a person who happened to be queer... but where was this person? we got some grrl power king status scenes and a couple of blink and you'll miss them lines about the valkyrior and that's it
how did we not get a single flashback about the valkyrior even though we know an extra was cast a valkyrie
she got nerf'd and kicked out of the final battle and was absent for like most of the last 30 minutes
some kids got more of a hero moment in the final battle than val did
pretty sure she actually had more screen time in ragnarok than in tlat
she had literally no character development or plot. she is literally just a body there to fight
no fr there's this whole ass scene where she's basically a body for korg?? it was very strange and didn't serve a purpose but she had to do it while because I guess thorjane are too important to do it
thor says that zeus was his childhood hero when it was previously val, and like yeah you can have more than one hero but come on
we are three movies deep, why doesn't val have a first name??? tessa implied she would get a name and then she just didn't????
val doesn't get to talk about her beloved herself - it's just korg babbling at her about her commitment issues and mentions an ex girlfriend
val lowkey compares jane to her sisters but their entire friendship is basically offscreen
there's this bit where korg says thor doesn't discriminate who he loves and it cuts to a montage of thor with a bunch of white women and idk that feels like an attack on the idea of a black woman being his love interest
also this isn't about val but thor's characterization was just so fucking awful this entire movie like holy shit who the fuck was that man baby because that was not the person at the end of ragnarok or even iw/endgame. like, what the fuck did taika do to my man??? but that may need to be its own post
in conclusion this movie sucks ass. is it queerbaiting? no, val is explicitly queer (and korg but who cares about that pile of rocks), but it's not a good movie and just a horrible movie for val in particular. if you're a qpoc or a woc who was excited to see val finally get her moment in the sun then don't even bother

What gets me about the queerbaiting accusations with regards to Valkyrie in TLAT is that they never gave anyone a reason to think she would get together with any particular woman, and actually if Valkyrie can be "king," a "queen" doesn't have to mean a woman, but they did repeatedly say from Ragnarok's release through the rest of Phase Three that Valkyrie and Thor were written as a romance, which ended up being sidelined in TLAT. But fans who throw around the word "queerbaiting" do not care that the Black bisexual female lead of the previous film has as of now been denied her love story with the protagonist and was altogether diminished in TLAT for a white straight woman. They also follow the promotion of the film enough to know that Natalie and Taika, both straight, said the film would be gay, but their interest in the WLW character apparently stopped short of paying attention to the bi actress playing her to know that Tessa requested the script be changed because being queer was initially all Valkyrie had in it and Tessa found it dehumanizing.
I had to do some digging for sources for the quotes you're mentioning, and it looks like you might be misremembering what was said back during Phase 3. According to Thor: Ragnarok's writers, Thor and Valkyrie's relationship was written as romantic in the original draft of the script but that subplot was scrapped when the movie was still in development (i.e. probably before casting) because they decided they wanted to focus on Valkyrie as character independent of Thor and didn't want to commit to a romance between them right away. From Thor: Ragnarok writer, Eric Pearson:
“But we didn’t want to start from that place [a romance]. It was like, Let’s give Valkyrie her own story that connects with Thor … and if it makes sense for them to get together, then great. You’ve got two really good-looking people who can fight and who’d probably be [good together] if the story went there, but it just didn’t. It became more about the mutual respect, and also dealing with her PTSD."
[source]
So it seems like it's less that an in-progress romance was removed and more like the door was left open for a romance and they chose not to pick it up (yet?). But I definitely agree that Valkyrie herself was backburnered in favor of Thor and Jane's romance, and I really hated that she got left out of the final battle. She wasn't written as a sidekick in Ragnarok, but I feel like Love and Thunder used her as one. We really didn't need to spend all that time rehashing romantic Thor/Jane. They could have just been two people who were very important to each other but weren't in love anymore. That would have worked just as well, and it would have freed up more time for Valkyrie to have her own character arc.
It seems that you might also be slightly misremembering what Tessa Thompson said about Valkyrie's bisexuality. From her interview with Yahoo:
“We talked about it a lot, it was big topic of conversation, because I think rightfully there’s this real want in audiences to see characters be very clearly queer or LGBTQIA inside these spaces. And I think it’s hugely important to have representation. And also as humans I think that we are not defined by our sexuality, and by who we love. And so sometimes I think to hang a narrative completely on that is a way of actually diminishing the humanity of the character. Because you don’t allow them to be anything else.”
[source]
Unless this is not the interview you're referring to, she never mentions asking for the script to be changed or for anything to be removed. She's just talking about working with Taika Waititi during the writing process to make sure Valkyrie's bisexuality struck the right balance between being visible but not being her whole personality. Crucially, she does outright say that Valkyrie doesn't have a romance, which undercuts the accusations of queerbaiting pretty significantly, so it is clear that no one making those accusations read this interview.
However, I do want to give people the benefit of the doubt in that it's possible they weren't following the promotional material at all and just heard about the "super gay" thing through the grapevine (like I did, lmao). People have been talking about that on this website for weeks. If it makes you feel better (sarcasm), Tessa Thompson also got accused of queerbaiting by one of our anons this morning, so she hasn't been completely ignored.

I've noticed that all the people dropping notes in your asks are all caught up, given your recent update. As I am still binging your first book, I just wanted to express my gratitude for the amazingly, believable cast that is the Marauders you are currently writing. Until I started reading your books, nothing topped TLAT for me. But I can now say that I have finally found something that does. Please don't ever stop doing the things you do. You and your writing are everything.
Thank you so much for the kind words. 🥺 I appreciate you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Oh look, ramblings again!
SPOILERS for Thor: Love and Thunder AHEAD!!! Do NOT read if you haven’t seen the movie yet (unless you don’t care about spoilers!)
Last chance to back out... no? Good, happy reading!
First of: it should be mandatory to watch a Taika film at least TWICE before being allowed to form an opinion. There’s always way too much going on to catch it all on one viewing!
That includes myself too.
After my first viewing on Thursday I came out of TLAT with mixed feelings. It felt chaotic and a tad overstuffed, not long enough to squeeze everything in.
Overall I liked it tho, there were bits and pieces that I adored (and yes, the goats are fucking hilarious!!!), but I KNEW I had to see it a second time to form a proper opinion.
(It also didn’t help that the face of the first God that got killed looked soo familiar but I couldn't really sort him! It took me two days to finally find out why - the Taika!Bingo had already been employed. Adorable man can’t stop casting friends for his films *hehe* But you do NOT expect a vampire in a Marvel movie so… (Jonny Brugh aka Deacon from WWDITS, for those curious.)
I loved the cameos even though they were very short but it’s always nice to see familiar faces popping up here and there.
I screamed at the post credit scene because BRETT FUCKING GOLDSTEIN!!!! My Ted Lasso loving heart was in AWE and in shock and I might have yelled at the poor man on Twitter!) I cannot wait to see where they’re going with him - that’s going to be amazing!!
I'm also utterly amazed and slightly shocked that T managed to get as much queer content in it as he dared. (and so far I do NOT see the film being banned in those who banned Lightyear and MOM for much less!!) But then again (as he does) it’s both soo in your face and yet subtle enough to be overlooked, I guess.
Although, he basically put a GAY SEX SCENE into it without anyone batting an eyelid. Sure, it’s between two non-humans but still… maybe that doesn’t count. I don’t know. I just love it.
(and yes, it took me a few hours and the internet’s help to lose my mind over the fact that his partner's name is DWAYNE!!! I mean, WTF?!?!?! I'm curious whether DJ knows about it, and what he’s thinking (here's hope somebody asks him at SDCC, I NEED to know this!!)).
Anyhow, I felt a tad sad that I didn’t immediately loved it. It was good, it was fun but it lacked…something?!
So naturally I went again yesterday, properly rested this time with the intention of just letting it play out and NOT pay special attention to my darling Korg *hehe*
And it helped - a LOT!!!
I loved it.
I loved how he intersected the funny with the heartfelt scenes (still think some could’ve been a tad longer for more impact).
I loved that he didn’t shy away from hitting you hard with death and illness to then lighten it with screaming goats and silly heart eyes and awkward reunions. But there’s love in every single moment: love for family and partners, love for your home and the place that had become home, love for friends and found family. There’s heartache about losing everything and there’s hope for a future that may not be as terrible as one thought.
It’s beautifully quirky and lighthearted yet very profound and underneath it all there’s everything that’s important in life!
So yeah… a very typical Taika Waititi film. NOT a typical Marvel film so I guess that’s where the hate of some for it comes from.
But that the beauty of Taika’s work: you have to pay attention, you have to soak it up to get it. You have to look closer to realize how precious the life is you have, no matter how dark it seems.
I also liked (even though it may sound weird) that Jane died in the end. But she died doing what she loved, she died for the man she loved (and I’m pretty damn sure, had it been the other way around, Thor would have sacrificed himself for her as well). I liked that she said it: what’s the point of living if you suffer in a hospital bed, dying on your own anyways, having loved ones seeing you  like that, or going out with a bang, saving the world and LIVING until the very end! I mean, WOAH, that’s one hell of a statement. (Yes, of course I cried!)
I also loved that for once the villain in the end changed his mind. I mean, how often does that happen??? I loved that he eventually saw that his revenge only caused heartache and pain. So giving his daughter over to the ‘enemy’ to have her being raised by him… well damn, that's quite something.
And yes, naturally I adored Dad!Thor and I'm very curious how they’re going ahead with that!
Do I still think it could’ve been a tad longer to give us a bit more Valkyrie? YES!
Or that I would’ve loved to see those cut appearances everyone was talking about? Absolutely.
(I do NOT need to have EVERYTHING explained to me, like how did Jane get to Asgard or other things that happened off screen - as the man so nicely stated once or twice, sometimes you just have to think for yourself and connect the damn dots!)
But in the end, it was just about the right length, it wasn’t the least bit boring (not even in the first time round), it was entertaining as hell and only the second viewing showed me how much love the man put into it.
Yes, I will want to see all the cut things and the deleted scenes, I wanna know how that 4 hour cut would’ve looked like. But that's mostly because I'm dying to know what his brain cooked up in the very first place!!!
But I also respect the fact that we might never see that. (I want all the bloopers tho!!!)
So yeah, I can’t wait to watch it again, maybe once more in the cinema but definitely at home, with a pause button so I can appreciate all the little things (I LOVED how excited he got when some reporter mentioned that the Kronan God was sitting on a throne of scissors - I missed that the first time around and squealed at the second because THAT’s the kind of thing I expect from him, small things that are not important but still makes his movies so unique and special!!)
I also can’t wait to search for all the kids: I did spy Matewa but not TK, so that’s definitely a fun thing to do once I have that pause button.
So yeah, these are my ramblings. I’m once again very much amazed with this incredible man and his brains, and I hope he doesn’t EVER get encouraged by all the asshole things I keep seeing in his tags - I hope he never reads them (I totally understand why he’s not on Twitter anymore and it takes everything I have to not lash out at some of those hating on him for absolutely no reason. Critique, totally fair, but some of that shit is pure, mean hatred, based on nothing and tagging him with that is just a NO GO. But I know better so I sit on my hands and hope he takes solace in the box office numbers and the fact that his visions are just not for everyone!)
*I* just fell deeper in love with his work, his incredible brain and his way of looking at the world and translating that into compelling movies that help make the real world that bit better! And I’m sooo looking forward what he’ll do next!

I don't want to sound rude but when are you uploading potter and evans ch 2 /tlat ch 38 ? I'm sure many people are waiting for that brilliant piece of writing.
Not rude! My thesis is due in early March, so time has been more crunched than anticipated. I promise I’m working on it and will have more time for it soon, and I’m really glad you’re excited!!
I know I initially said January, so have this snippet in the meantime! This began as a random deleted scene headcanon from the accursed Meloni vs Mumps hellhole...How has it somehow become integral to the next chapter’s plot? Merlin only knows.
“Oi, and Dung?” Remus added when he had finished his long-winded threat-and-lecture combo package (Can’t bet on people’s lives...something-something...Devang Patel...something-something...leave Potter alone).
Mundungus arched an eyebrow. “Yeah?”
“When you’ve forgotten every threat I just made, which I assume won’t take long…"
“Between the two of us, I wouldn’t take the over on ten minutes.”
Remus snorted. “Right. But…” his expression changed and his tone grew serious for the first time. He turned his head toward the entrance hall and cast a very quick glance toward a flash of red hair. “When you’ve forgotten all that, you still won’t be a fucking idiot, right?”
Mundungus’s brow furrowed in confusion, but only for a moment before his eyes widened and he shook his head. “Shite, Lupin. I like a Galleon, but not as much as I like my neck.”
“Good.”
Remus wasn’t as confident as he let on, though, and as he and Pete walked into the Great Hall he eyed the other Marauder. “Do you think we can trust him?”
Pete nodded. “Even if Prongs wouldn’t rip off his knob and choke him with it, it’s good business sense to leave her out of it.” Remus raised an eyebrow and Pete shrugged. “When James ends up with Lily, Dung gets every single Knut.”
Remus laughed and clapped his friend on the back. “You scare me sometimes, Wormtail.”

i dreamt up such a fun avengers endgame last night where instead of spaceships they were at sea together and thanos was chasing them, but they were having too much fun trolling him to be sad
woke up, fell back asleep, and dreamed the next one avengers 5 or whatever with the new cast except it was a multiverse so you kept seeing different people playing characters, and genderbent versions of them, and you were waiting for the universe with everyone you knew and they were all still at sea for some reason. it was great

i wanna specify that if i talk about vigilante more its not tlat the EXPENSE of the rest of the cast, but because, despite being hilarious, i think he wasnt used to his full potential (as in, a reflection of the bad parts of chris's pre prison life). their conflict is more played for comedy and they only butt heads over the murder thing like. literally once.
and obviously characters who can be workshopped into something better are the most fun to fandomize lmao

Lol!! I will never be able to believe that a fic has its own wiki page! And with thorough pages about each of its characters and the world building…tlat is an incredible work of art. I started rereading it a few days ago, it’s still so delicious. I also still follow Jules on here too
And I reread comm a few weeks ago after many years and I think I love it even more than I did before. I never understood why Lily had such a hard time saying yes to James but I’ve grown now and can empathize with her anxiety and see that she and James were in completely different places. ughhh I love bee so much- her other recent works are really good too.
Also both tlat and comm are on goodreads and it’s just so cool. I would buy both their books if they ever published anything -🌻
Jules is on tumblr? Drop the url! Also I loved Eight Days from Bee's recent works. Both those fics are so well written and I'm honestly in awe of both of them. I would definitely buy their books if they ever wrote anything.
Also definitely agree with the Lily part. When I initially read the fic it seemed so simple but now I understand her character a lot better. James is absolutely delicious in both the fics too don't you think? Also the casting for tlat? Absolutely love it!
