hihihi rae!!!!! congratulations on 900 followers🥹🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻i still remember the day u first posted ur jason fics aaaa ive loved every single one of ur fics ever since!!!
for the event, how about something angsty since ur the kween of angst!!!
“cmon, open your eyes. please, just open your eyes”
~900 words
It didn't hurt at first. The shrapnel in your side was a nuisance, of course. It slowed your movements, made you sluggish as you helped pull person after person out of the rubble.
But it didn't hurt. You knew, realistically, that it did, that adrenaline could only keep you on your feet for so long. But between disarming the rest of Fireflys bombs and getting the surviving victims to paramedics, you'd brushed off your own injuries.
Just one more person. One more life. The mantra repeated itself over and over in your head. Over and over until there was no one left to help. Then, and only then, did you follow the other vigilantes to a nearby roof.
Batman is the first to speak, gaze set on the scene below, "There's been no other sightings of Firefly. We'll split into teams of two and look into his usual hideouts. Robin and I will take East End. Spoiler and," you tune out the rest of his orders, more focused on not swaying on your feet.
You discreetly press your hand to your side, fighting the urge to wince at the blood seeping into your armor. Your vision is starting to swim, and you can practically feel your body crashing.
You shift your weight, trying to steady yourself. If you can just make it it a couple more hours, if you can just find Firefly before anyone else gets hurt–
"You okay," a quiet voice asks. You turn your head as Red Hood settles himself at your side, head tilted like he's observed your every movement.
You debate lying. Jason's always been observant, but it's not really a lie if you are okay, right? Sure, maybe there's some blood, and maybe it's starting to hurt when you breathe, but you are okay.
You open your mouth to tell him as much while putting on your most convincing face. Instead of getting to say a word, your world just kind of tips to the side.
One second, you're standing and the next? Nothing. A void of blackness and silence.
You must not be out for long, because you slowly wake up to shouts and firm pressure to your side.
You're not sure when you got so cold, but the body cradling you is warm. It draws you further away from the darkness threatening to take you under again.
There's a hand cupping your face, a thigh bracing your back, and a chest pressed to your side. If you had the strength to move, you'd want to curl into it, to savor how safe it feels.
A pair of hands work over your side, and you start to register sharp words and pleading tones. It takes more effort than it should to start to recognize what they're saying.
'Lost a lot of blood,' you manage to pick out. Something about getting the cave ready. Reassurances that you were caught before hit your head, and you've survived worse than a piece of metal to your kidney.
But it's none of those words, none of those voices that will you to open your eyes.
It's Jason. His voice cuts through the hazy fog in your mind, "C'mon, open your eyes. Please, just open your eyes." He sounds like he's begging, desperate and anxious for any sign of life from you.
You hate it. Hate that you made him worry. Made him scared. It takes all the strength you have left, but you crack your eyes open.
His helmet is off, thrown somewhere and forgotten, and you've never seen him look so relieved, "Hey, hey, sweetheart. There you are. You need to keep your eyes open for me, okay? We're gonna get you taken care of."
You'd like to nod, but all you manage is a weak hum. Your body feels heavy, your eyes even heavier, but his thumb is stroking your cheek, and it's so soothing that you actually want to stay awake, to soak up every soft word and gentle touch.
"Good," he murmurs, his gaze never leaving you, even as the others work diligently over your injury. "Just stay awake, stay with me," he pleads.
Someone says something about the batmobile, but it's getting more and more difficult to focus on words. There's a brief argument about it being too dangerous to move you, at least you think there is.
Then you're lifted into the air, held tightly in Red Hood's arms. Your head lolls to his shoulder.
You know he's still speaking to you, you can hear the way his voice is starting to pitch into something more desperate again. But whatever he's saying is lost to your dazed state.
Lights seem to flash in your vision, but the warmth of him never fades. The engine of the batmobile roars in time with your eyes rolling back.
You know you've lost some time. You must have blacked out somewhere in between the roof and getting to the cave.
Your eyes flutter sluggishly. There's an IV in your arm, a hand clutching yours, and a white light baring down at you.
The familiar sensation of stitches pulling your skin back together registers. It's enough to know you won't die, even if it feels like you are.
There's a soft voice in your ear. The words sound like gibberish, but the tone is comforting. Sleep starts to drag you back under, but there's a peace to it this time, comforted by the idea that when you wake up, and you will wake up, that voice will still be at your side.

Warning: mentions of violence, murder, mentions of torture, violence, mentions of drugs, Reader is a girl, manipulation, violence against minors, torture, Cigarette use, negligence, joker being the joker, Yandere behavior, defined gender, blood.
chapters: 01
A/N: welcome little lamb, be very careful with your choices, they can bring you bad luck depending on which one you choose, good luck, take care of yourself little lamb, your health comes first!!
The dark path is not always the bad path...
Words cause more pain than physical injuries...
HE didn't sleep well, the dark circles under his eyes gave him away
His fingers touching the keys while his eyes never left the screen in front of him.
A little bird will never be free if its destiny is to be trapped in a cage...
Jason was frustrated, the whole way he couldn't find even a clue about his little sister
A sigh escaped his lips as he looked at the dead body on the floor.
Somentimes, a stone in the road is better than one in the kidney...
He finally found it, Tim finally found the right location, but there was just one problem...
It's the same location where Joker is...
Death cannot be avoided, you can run away, but you cannot hide forever...
Jason didn't wait when Tim said he discovered his little sister's location, he didn't even want to hear the rest, he just ran straight to the location
He doesn't want history to repeat itself, he doesn't want his sister to suffer what he suffered
He should have listened when they said to wait...
Batman stood on the balcony of a building while observing the location of the place he was given, honestly, was it a decent place?
He doesn't know, he just knows that this is exactly where his daughter is
And he won't leave until his daughter is with him, even if he has to get his hands dirty...
a heart has to be sacrificed...
It was dark, but his eyes moved around, looking around
His eyes stopped on a common person
— "sister?, is it really you?..."
Jason says as he looks at the girl in front of him, the girl's eyes moved and looked straight into his as they made eye contact, that was enough for him to truly know it was her
He sighed and quickly approached her, but his feet stopped when the tip of a katana was pointed at his neck, he was surprised and looked at the tip of the katana, before looking into her eyes.
— "bunny you-... What are you doing?..."
He says confused as he tries to smile, but his smile disappears when he hears clapping noises.
— "oh~ extraordinary, it was a wonderful show I must admit"
Jason's expression became serious when he heard that voice, and he looked at the person
— "Joker..."
— "well, I see you've already met my little masterpiece, but let me introduce you, this is my daughter, my little pride"
Joker says as he laughs, standing next to him looking at Jason
Jason looks at Joker in shock before looking at you noticing his eyes without the sparkle they used to have.
— "what did you do with her?!"
Jason says making Joker laugh even harder, Joker smiles amusedly and strokes his hair
— "well, me?, I didn't do anything, I feel offended now"
Joker says and laughs when you move his hand away from your hair, Jason wouldn't admit it but envy blinds him and he doesn't ask for a second to attack Joker while trying not to hurt you
Revenge is a dish best served cold...
Joker laughs before a pop is heard as he falls to the ground unconscious.
Damien drops the bat on the ground and looks at Joker's body on the ground, he sighs as Jason looks at him in surprise, Damien looks at him and sighs
— "what?, I did what everyone wanted to do, be thankful I just left him unconscious, it's better than letting you kill him"
Damien says as he walks past Jason, leaving him standing still and Jason sighs.
'Little Demon'
Jason thinks as he crosses his arms and rolls his eyes before looking at Joker's body on the floor.
You looked at Jason and Joker fighting and you notice someone approaching Joker, just as you were about to protect Joker, your vision went black and you fell unconscious, before you could fall to the ground someone was already holding you.
Batman held her unconscious body as he removed the needle from her neck and handed it to Dick
— "ready little bat, daddy is here now, there's no need to be scared, daddy will give you whatever you want, except your freedom, Gotham is a dangerous place, you will be safe with your family..."
His voice rings out as he rocks his unconscious body like he's rocking a baby
Sometimes, the kindest people have a double face, there is always a dark side behind all the kindness...
A sigh was heard when he heard everything, he finally let out the breath he didn't even know he was holding,
Tim was silent as he looked at the screens
He did it, he will finally be able to see his little sister again
With no one in the way, perfect
'Don't worry little sister, now no one can take you away from us again, no one can take you away from me again...'
A bat won't be able to come out of the darkness if the sun bothers it so much...
Alfred looked at the finished room, the room was next to Bruce's room, he didn't want that to happen, but he also didn't want you to be in danger in Gotham, after all, it's Gotham, every time you left, he felt worried, now he doesn't need to worry anymore, when he went to your room and saw it empty he felt devastated with worry, little did you know what awaited you in Gotham, the dark sides, without protection, you could be in danger,
But when he found out that Bruce made it he was relieved, his room was already prepared, now all that's left is for Bruce to bring you
A butler knows more than you think...
A big smile was on Duke's face as he shopped for accessories, books, and various other things.
He was on a mission when he found out about her disappearance and was more than frustrated as he took out all his frustration on the poor bandits.
But when he knew they found you he was relieved and happy
He didn't wait a second to buy you a bunch of stuff, you love that new movie that's coming out right?, Jurassic World, the new one, he knows it's horror and rated R, but he would do anything for you
So he will let you watch with him hidden from Bruce, he is eager to return to Gotham and shower you with affection and hugs
No treasure will overshadow you...
Cassandra sighed and picked up another bracelet, she already picked up several matching accessories, you and she will have everything matching like united sisters
She won't accept a no or a maybe
It will give you a life far from the life of a vigilante and a hero, a normal life is healthy
death is something that not everyone is afraid of, on the contrary, they are afraid of pain...
Barbara was simply decorating her room, she was more than eager to see you again, after days of slowly going crazy just for not hearing any news about you,
She was terrified when she found out you were with Joker,
He's not a nice guy
And you don't need it, you have it... Just it...
The quietest people don't always want to be noticed...
Damien approached Batman with you unconscious in Batman's arm, he stopped in front of Batman and stroked his hair softly while muttering inaudible words
Dick watched everything with a smile before he heard a noise and he fell to the ground when something hit him in the head,
Everyone was alarmed as they quickly positioned themselves ready to fight while Batman placed you near a wall and prepared to fight the person.
Dick touched his head slowly and looked at his hand seeing blood, he stood up and looked back while looking at the person with serious looks
— "Well, well, how stupid of you to do all this nonsense and not invite me, I thought my little puddin was stupid, but then I realized that you are lower than that"
The person says while holding the bat in their hand and smiling while looking at them
— "and you were trying to take my daughter from me, what an evil thing Batman, trying to take a daughter from a mother..."
The person says while pronouncing Batman with venom and disgust, her eyes look at each of them before she laughs
She sighs and smiles
— "Harley"
Batman says as the woman smiles amusedly and swings the bat playfully
— "Bat, kidnapping my daughter is a low blow"
Harley says smiling, but she wasn't exactly amused
— "She is not your daughter"
Batman says seriously while looking at her
— "Much less yours"
Harley says while smiling and laughing in fun
Batman looks at her seriously and Harley smiles amusedly
— "I've had it much longer than you"
— "well, I don't think I need to talk about how terrible you are as a father, if you left her walking around alone it's definitely because it was stupid,
At least I did a better job of being a mother than you were of being her father."
Harley says as she smiles and looks at Batman amusedly as Batman looks into her eyes seriously, everything goes silent for a moment
— "I just want my daughter"
Harley says with a smile on her lips before Batman sighs
— "so we have something in common, but mend your words, you want my daughter"
Batman says while Harley smiles and laughs in amusement
Damien sighs in frustration as Jason looks between Batman and Harley, Dick remains silent, confused by the situation, but understanding the mood.
— "Well, let's see who will take her then..."
Harley says while smiling amusedly and Batman looks into her eyes seriously
Damien remains silent, frustrated with the situation while making a small face of disgust.
'She is not an object to be won, she is a human like everyone else, they should treat her as a person, not as a trophy to be won, disgusting'
Jason crosses his arms and rolls his eyes.
'I don't fight with women'
Jason thinks while staying silent
Dick stands next to Jason as he sighs and thinks the same thing as Jason
Harley swings the baton and prepares to fight as Batman does the same
The two make eye contact, watching each other's movements.
Watching who will move first
Who will make the first mistake
Life is made of mistakes and they all kill you if you're not smart enough...

Part two of the sub sebek post 👉👈 (same person who asked last time, was gonna ask sooner but I forgot...if you can do some more intended for male readers I'd be delighted and will owe you my soul, lungs, kidneys and eyes. It's okay if not though, you can still get my soul)
Have a lovely day/night
Sub! Sebek with a M! Reader (18+, MDNI)
Sub! Sebek, oral, (reader giving) anal, fingering (m! receiving), creampie, m! Human! Reader
Service. Sub.
He's far too prideful to initiate a quickie, but he'll shoot you desperate gazes the whole day in the hopes you understand his meaning. A firmer-than-necessary squeeze on your shoulder or waist as he moves past you, letting out a noise that sounds suspiciously like a moan when you pin him down during training, etc.
Genuinely loves being between your thighs and serving you. He doesn’t have to worry about anything but your pleasure during this time, and he trusts you wholly, allowing him to relax and let his worries slip away with every thrust in his mouth.
While he’s more focused on your pleasure at first, he does enjoy being the target of your affections in private (key word: private- he can’t handle too much PDA and prefers to show more overt forms of affection in private because it feels more genuine).
Generally, he’s never really cared much for exploring his own body and preferred to take care of things as quickly as possible (aka getting off by his own hand). He’s not familiar with toys, and never really seeks them out unless you introduce them to him ^^
As a result, he's quite nervous the first time you play with his ass and penetrate him. He's tense!! Anal in general requires the receiver to be relaxed, but Sebek in particular is so wound up that you need to work him through an orgasm or two before you can even insert a finger.
When you’re able to work your way up to stuff him with your cock, he’s wonderfully prepped for you. His hair is completely disheveled, his calloused hands having run through it in (failed) attempts to reign in his reactions. Spread completely for you, his cock is erect, leaning over his stomach as the flushed pink tip drips with pre-cum. “Well? What are you waiting for, human?” He snarls breathlessly. Frankly, it comes out weaker than he intended, but he can’t quite get himself to care. His nipples are sore from how you had toyed with them earlier, and he can feel himself clenching around nothingness as you pump yourself a few times before lining up with his hole.
As much as you try to ease yourself into him, Sebek can’t help but gasp at how full he feels whenever you fuck into him, and tends to hook his legs around you in response, wanting to feel as close to you as possible.
He cums fairly quickly given how overwhelming this experience is for him the first time, but he finds it a waste for you to allow your cum to leak out of him, so he whines and tugs you closer after you cum inside of him <3
Sebek finds himself surprisingly clingy after sex- even as you both give aftercare and collect yourselves. He can’t help but want to hold you close after such intimacy, and you’re happy to reciprocate.
a/n: reblogs and comments appreciated <3 requests are closed right now, but feel free to brainrot about any ideas or ask for me 2 elaborate in my inbox <33

Kento Nanami x reader // 900 words
You call Nanami after hours.
tw// nsfw, creep! nanami, drinking
IT was the end of a long week for Kento Nanami. Between Gojo’s antics and cursed spirits seeming to be getting stronger recently, by the time he got home to his apartment, he was absolutely beat. He loosened his tie as he went into his kitchenette, getting a clean glass from the cabinet above the counter.
He’d had two drinks – gin on the rocks—within half an hour. This wasn’t usual for Kento but he could handle his liquor. He dropped into an arm chair by the window, nursing his third drink as he looked out the window, not really thinking about anything. It was rare that he was able to completely clear his mind.
And then his phone rang.
Kento auditable groaned. No. He wouldn’t take any work calls. He was off the clock. He dug his phone out of his pocket, ready to decline but he paused. He paused, because you were calling, and you’d be occupying his thoughts on and off since you had been hired. Why would you be calling him now?
He took a deep breath before he answered, hoping you wouldn’t be able to tell he was slightly intoxicated; “Hello?”
“Mr Nanami!” Your voice had an unexpected effect, sending a shiver down his spine. “I’m so sorry to call, but I need your help,”
Kento shifted in his chair. “Help?” He asked. “I... I would be happy to help,” He couldn’t help but feel slightly smug. Gojo was supposed to be your mentor but when you needed help you call Kento? He rested his hand on his thigh.
“Gojo and I went on a recovery mission this afternoon,” as you explained, Kento closed his eyes, letting himself indulge in the sound of your voice. “It was successful, we came back with a cursed object. Gojo told me to file it but I’m not sure where it goes.”
“Did you ask Gojo?”
“That’s the thing,” Even through the phone, he could hear the usual nervous tone your voice always had. “Gojo and Miss Shoko left,”
“He left?”
“Yes,” You said. There was a pause and Kento could imagine you biting your lip. He had noticed that you did this during conversation to buy time. “It’s only a Grade 4, I really should be able to handle it myself, I just haven’t been walked through the filing system yet,”
“Gojo should show you these things,” said Kento, his annoyance singeing his voice.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry for calling you --”
Kento’s free hand went from his thigh to his belt, stealthily undoing the buckle with one hand. The alcohol was getting to his head but he didn’t care. He was enjoying the sound of your voice, the words barely mattered. “No, no,” He said, pulling his slacks half way down his thighs. “Forgive me. I’m annoyed with Gojo, you did good to call me.”
“Oh,” He palmed himself through his boxers as he heard the relief in your voice. “Of course. I just, um, I didn’t mean to speak badly of him, it’s just--”
“What is the cursed object?” asked Kento. It didn’t matter, but he was already getting hard and he didn’t want to listen to you talk about Gojo.
“It’s... uh, a kidney, I think?” Kento slipped his hand into his boxers, tentatively touching himself, running his hand up his length. “Maybe a spleen?” He tightened his hold around himself and slowed his pace, essentially teasing himself to the sound of your voice. “It’s... something gooey in a jar. We found it at a resort.”
He brushed his thumb against his already leaking tip and he hissed through his teeth. “A resort? That’s unusual.”
“It used to be a TB ward,” You went on to say, not noticing anything out of the ordinary. He moved his hand up and down, having enough presence of mind to keep his movements slow so you wouldn’t suspect what he was doing.
God, you could never know what he was doing.
“We didn’t even find the jar *in* the hotel, which was weird. All these low grade curses were manifesting in the hotel, terrorizing the guests. It took us a while, someone had thrown it down a well!”
Kento smiled at just how excited you were, retelling the events of that afternoon. It was endearing. As you told him how you’d had to lower Gojo into the well, Kento continued to edge himself.
This is wrong. They called you for help. They’re your subordinate. This is unprofessional.
He groaned quietly.
“Mr Nanami?”
His heart nearly stopped in his chest. “Yes?”
“I’m sorry, I... I’m boring you. Could you tell me what exactly to do with this? It’s a Grade 4 cursed object.”
“Yes, yes of course,” As he told you where these things were typically stored, he made himself slow down even more. His hand was barely moving but he he couldn’t stop entirely.
You were so grateful for his instruction, so eager to do what he said. As you stumbled over your words to thank him, his mind wandered.
Now undress. No, no, slower. Good, good. Just like that. Perfect.
He had to stop, he was making noises again and it was just dumb luck you didn’t seem to hear. But he closes his eyes and leaned back in his chair and tried to imagine it was your mouth around his cock. “Mmmm...”
“Thank you so much for your help, Mr Nanami! I’ll see you on Monday!”
“I... I will see you then,” He croaked and just like that, you hung up.
He couldn’t stop himself. He came into his boxers with your name on his lips.

Shimazaki ryo x reader
I'm in love with Mob Psycho 100 and I am so in love with Ryo and Arataka <3333 But this fic is focused on Ryo. I'll try to write a fic with Arataka 😘 Also if the beginning sounds personal its cause it is lol. I literally will sometimes project myself on the reader, sorry haha. Oh yeah MDNI THERE IS NSFW IN THIS!!!
Ryo and I's relationship is not defined but if I had to say it's more like a friends with benefits. We sometimes hang out and chill at each other place and then fuck. It's not more that because Ryo isn't a man made for relationships. He just gets bored of them and find them to wear him down. I'm practically the same so finding him was like a miracle.
Everyone always says they want a friends with benefits no strings attached, but then they end up having feelings. Not me though I don't know why. I used to be obsessed with dating when I was younger. I had a couple long lasting relationships but they never ended well. So maybe that's it...? I don't know or really care I just can't date people, I like having options.
I guess the same is for Ryo, I haven't asked cause its not of my concern. Right now Ryo and I are watching a movie or well I'm watching and he's listening. His hand creeps up my thigh and brushes against my heat. He smirks and I spread my thighs apart so he has easier access. I purposely put on loose short with no underwear just for this. His hand glides up and down over my clothed heat. I bite my lip and lean my head back.
"Naughty girl, no panties? Tsk don't you know I like to keep a pair for the road?" He says still teasing me. "Yeah that's why I didn't wear them, underwear ain't cheap asshole " I stick out my tongue. He laughs and leans on capturing my lips with his. He deepens the kiss and I close my eyes moaning into the kiss. Our tongues twine and dance together and as we part for air salvia follows.
Before I know it Ryo teleports us to my room and we both hurriedly take off our clothes. Ryo cages me with his arms his erection twitches against my stomach. My face and body are hot and I can't help but squirm. "Please Ryo fuck me, I can't wait any longer I need you so bad..." He grins and he grips my thighs and tossed them over his shoulder. His tip presses against me and enters me stretching me out.
My eyes roll back and my jaw slacks, no matter how much we fuck his size still manages to have this affect on me. I grip the sheets as he starts his fast and rough pace. One hand is placed on my neck while the other is on my stomach. He presses on it and feels how deep his dick is inside me. He laughs "Your taking it so well even though my dick is practically in your kidneys" "Yeah well your not the biggest I had" I spit back, I lied he is most definitely the biggest but I like to get under his skin.
His smirk is wiped off and his face is unreadable. He stops fucking me and I look at him with confusion. "Ryo are you-" Ryo then flips me over and still grips my neck but forces his fingers in my mouth. My hands are held behind my back. Drool dribbles from my mouth and any attempt at speaking is quieted by him slamming into me.
All I can do is moan incoherently "Don't you ever fucking lie to me. I know I'm the fucking biggest you've ever taken if not the first" he grunts, he let's go of my neck and I cough but my face is immediately slammed into my bed. His hand slaps my ass and he leans in biting me all over. "Fucking slut trying to be little me"
My face is stained with tears and my cheeks and red and puffy. I can't think anymore all I can do is moan. "What aint got nothing to say anymore? That's- what- I- thought-" with four more thrusts his seed shoots inside me and he buries himself inside. I soon came after him and my whole body shook. His breathing was hot and heavy in my ear. I struggled to gain my breathe and he flipped me over. "The night has just begun~" he grinned

FtM Hysto Recovery + Tips (Plus general tips for dealing with low/no spoons or recovering from any surgery)
I haven't been on Tumblr for years, but recently re-joined to check out art, as I start to work on getting my idea for a graphic novel off the ground (as well as getting serious about improving my art again). However, I'm hoping these first few posts get found by an entirely different audience. This is being written in 2023.
I'm going in for a laparoscopic hysterectomy on Thursday (today is Monday) and want to share my experience, as much as spoons will allow, so that other people can hopefully benefit in the future. I, personally, have struggled to find things online that fit my situation as a trans man with a history of pre-cancerous pap smears, abnormal bleeding, PID and ovarian cysts (but not PCOS). Although hysterectomies for "GRS" or gender affirming surgery purposes are easy to get where I live, mine in particular is primarily being done to avoid cancer and to stop the abnormal bleeding and random debilitating pain that comes out of nowhere every few years and upends my life for weeks/months. So if you're someone facing the prospect of a laparoscopic hysterectomy, regardless of your gender identity, and have a history of medical issues (but not PCOS or endometriosis) in your reproductive region, this blog may help you! Or, alternatively, if you're a trans man looking to get a laparoscopic hysterectomy, whether or not you've had issues in that region, this might help you, too!
It should be noted that this is written from the perspective of someone in their 30s with a complicated medical history, including Type 2 Diabetes and a very rare kidney disease (which has an average life expectancy of 29 years for men, but we aren't sure how it affects trans men), so the pre-surgery process I've been through is not the typical one. I also have chronic pain and know from my past experiences with very severe pain that a) I have a low tolerance for any pain beyond what I deal with day-to-day and b) I have a high tolerance for opiate pain medication, which means it takes a higher dose for me to address the level of pain that a lower dose would address in someone else. These both affect the length of time that I'll likely need to be on painkillers, and how functional I'll be while I'm on them. This, in turn, affects how quickly I'll be able to do things like return to work and driving.
I should also note that although it's common in some places for this surgery to be completed as day surgery, my jurisdiction almost always keeps people in overnight; this is because it takes almost 24 hours for the anesthetic to work its way out of your system, and until it does they won't have a true indication of your pain levels and, therefore, won't be able to make sure it's adequately controlled before sending you home. It's much easier (in my experience, and according to the doctors!) to stop you from having pain in the first place than to get it under control once you do.
Also, I live with my partner and a roommate, and my retired parents are about 90 minutes away and have a guest room. My support network isn't huge, but it's high quality. My partner managed to get 3 days off work for my surgery and the 2 days following, and after that is on a light workload for about a week in case she needs to take care of me. She also has a lot of flexibility with her job, and her boss really likes me, so if there are complications or she needs to spend more time at home to look after me, I don't think it's completely out of the question. All of this is to say that I'm going into this surgery from a very privileged place, in terms of not having to do much to look after myself in the aftermath. My surgeon did advise me, however, to take 1 week (for sure) off work if I could, and that I may need a second week. My work consists of two research jobs that draw heavily on my brain power, but don't require me to move around at all, especially as I work from home, so the issue is the painkillers, rather than actual healing time. Other jobs will require different amounts of time off work.
Because I'm neurodivergent and like to have as many details as possible about ... literally everything, I'm going to make this as detailed as I can. Essentially, I'm hoping to share everything I know and experience without leaving anything out. If it's too much detail for you, I'm going to be doing my best to include useful headers.
Notification of Surgery & Lead-up
I received notice about my surgery just over a month before my surgery date; it was around June 26th that I was emailed and told my surgery would be on August 3rd. I had previously met my surgeon in January, and was told it would be a 6-8 month wait until surgery. Between that appointment and being given my surgery date, I'd had bloodwork done, as well as an internal ultrasound. I've had several internal ultrasounds before and while they are far from pleasant, they are not as dysphoria-inducing for me as they are for other trans men, I'm sure. I am more physically uncomfortable during them than mentally/spiritually uncomfortable.
In the notification email, my surgeon sent additional attachments; about 200 pages of information from a) their office specifically and b) the health authority [one document about hysterectomies, one document about recovering from surgery in general]. These documents answered most of my questions, and also had instructions about fasting, pre-surgery instructions (there's a special sponge I have to buy and use the night before surgery and the morning of surgery) and recovery information. The documents were very generic, and because they came from different sources, the information was sometimes contradictory. I, personally, took the information on board in this order of trustworthiness:
Things my surgeon had said in-person during my consultation appointment in January
Things included in the information from my surgeon's office directly
Things included in the documents from the health authority
If there were contradictions that seemed extremely important (e.g. one document said to wash everything my face with the special sponges, while another said, in all caps, to absolutely NOT wash my head or face with the sponges), I followed-up with the surgeon's office or the most appropriate person (e.g. pharmacist).
Pre-surgery Appointments
Because of my medical history (diabetes and Alport's Syndrome), I had an extra step in here. My surgeon required me to have a consultation with my internal medicine doctor's clinic (but not with my specialist) to get the all-clear and make sure my risk level wasn't too high. This doctor made some assumptions about the medications I'm taking, which led him to think I had both diabetes and a heart condition, which would have put me in a much higher risk category. Because of that, he ordered extra bloodwork, and an ECG, and booked a follow-up with me for a few days later. That initial appointment with him ended on the assumption that the surgery likely would be postponed. However, the bloodwork and ECG all came back fine, and at the follow-up he gave me the all-clear and said my risk wasn't very high at all.
I had a few other pre-surgery appointments.
One was with the surgeon. In my case, the doctor actually doing my surgery is a resident colleague of the surgeon I initially consulted with. Now that I had a specific date for the surgery, and my life situation had changed a bit since the consultation (e.g. work), I asked to meet with the surgeon to ask questions that had come up since the initial consultation, and so that I could meet the person who would be cutting into me and make sure I was comfortable with her. She answered all my questions really well, and it turned out I was more comfortable with her than the original surgeon. This was a quick 5-10 minute talk, but I highly recommend asking for it, even if your surgeon hasn't changed. You'll have another chance to talk to your surgery just before being wheeled into the OR, but you'll be nervous and may be medicated by then, and it's just nice to have this conversation ahead of time and in an environment where you can look at a list of questions you've written down, and actually pay attention to the answers.
The hospital required another two appointments before surgery:
The pharmacist
About a week before my surgery, the pharmacist called for 5-10 minutes to discuss my current medications, supplements, vitamins and holistic medicines (if I were taking any) and to find out what time of day I take them at. Easy peasy.
2. The anesthetist
Exactly a week before my surgery, the anesthetist called to discuss the operation itself and the anesthetic. I'm not sure if the doctor I talked to will be the anesthetist who is actually in the room with me, or if it was just her job that particular day to call and get the information that will get passed onto the one who will be in the room. She was very nice, and explained the method of anesthesia, as well as how I'll likely feel when I wake up, etc. She also saw on my chart that I have a history of chronic pain, and zeroed in on my back and shoulder. She asked if there are any positions that make me more comfortable, and then explained the position I'd be in for my surgery -- tipped back toward my head -- and that this sometimes gives people back and shoulder pain even if they don't have any to begin with. She said my arms would be alongside my body, fairly tight to it, and I said that would be fine. I practiced laying them beside my body later that day and promptly discovered that's actually pretty painful for one arm, but I'll mention that when I get there and hope for the best! If I was having the conversation again, I'd answer by saying I wasn't sure how that would feel but that I'd practice it before the surgery day to see, and then ask who I could talk to if it turned out there's a better position or if that one wouldn't work. Ultimately though, the surgery should be 1.5 hours to 4 hours at most, so I'm not overly concerned. What you should take away from this if you're having this surgery and don't already have back/shoulder pain is that you might wake up with some, but that it should go away in a day or maybe a little less. This type of surgery also requires the surgeon to inflate your belly with gas in order to make room for the scopes and so that they can see what they're doing. That gas can stick around for a day, sometimes two, according to the anesthetist and can be a little bit painful or uncomfortable. I can't remember anything else that came out of this conversation.
In terms of pre-surgery appointments, that was it.
Tips and Tricks for Being Prepared
The next little bit is information I acquired through talking to my therapist (who's had several laparoscopic surgeries!) and many hours of research online, as well as living as a person who often has few spoons.
Get your first 1-2 weeks of meals planned and ready in advance. For me, this means I've picked up a large number of cans of Alphaghetti-type foods, and I'll be buying as many frozen meals as I can but have VERY little freezer room because my partner and I share with our tenant. Other options include things like HelloFresh, identifying nights when it will be easier for your partner if you order food in (if you can afford to), making big batches of food leading up to surgery while you're well and then freezing them, creating a list of meals you'd appreciate friends bringing over [remind them to bring them in disposable containers, so you don't have to feel guilty when it takes you weeks to get the containers back to them!], etc
Buy some Depends/adult diapers. I bought store brand (Life brand, specifically, which is Canadian) ones. The only ones I could get were maximum absorbency unless I wanted to pay twice the price for name brand ones, but I suspect I could do with a minimum absorbency one. I bought the underwear-style ones. In the store brand, they don't look very underwear-like at all, but if you have more money to spend, some of the name brand ones look convincingly like underwear! I also bought 'Unisex' ones, but would have bought womens if the unisex ones weren't an option; I suspect the mens' might have a built-in bulge area that would be awkward for me. The point of the adult diapers is that their 'waistband' is not a traditional waistband -- it's about 8" tall, very thin, and crinkle-cut so that it doesn't put pressure on your skin. This will stop you from having clothing pushing on your incision sites. BONUS is that they ARE absorbent, so you won't have to also wear pads to deal with discharge (which can, apparently, last for 6 weeks). Try the Depends on for a day a few days before surgery. Yes, it will be awkward and you'll feel silly. I am literally sitting in bed, with nothing wrong with me, wearing nothing but an adult diaper and a tee shirt while my partner's at work. But this has 2 purposes: 1) chances are you haven't worn these before, and you want to make sure you've got the most comfortable ones you can in terms of fit and style; 2) if you've worn them once already, it'll be familiar when you go to put it on when you're ready to leave the hospital; you'll know which side is the back and which side is the front, and the 'weirdness' of wearing them will be less unsettling. You're going to have other weird stuff going on, this doesn't have to be yet another weird thing happening!
If you live alone or your partner doesn't (or can't) change the sheets, layer sheets on the bed. That's right, layer your mattress with bottom sheets. That way, you can peel the top one off and have a cleaner sheet beneath it. It won't be the same as being able to sleep on a fresh, clean sheet straight out of the cupboard or dryer, but it's going to be better than the one you've slept, sweat or, universe forbid, bled on.
Get a LEAKPROOF (truly) travel mug with a handle. After surgery you'll have maybe one comfortable position to lay in. You're not going to want to get out of that position to retrieve your water, but you're also going to need to be drinking a lot of water (it helps you recover, and also helps get your bowels moving again). Being able to lose your water in the bed is a luxury, but a necessary one. I got mine at Winners for pretty cheap.
Get a nightie or onesie. I usually sleep naked. I don't really own pyjamas -- when I need to cover up to sleep (like when I visit friends or travel), I throw on a pair of joggers, or boxer briefs. But those both have waistbands and, remember, we're trying to avoid waistbands. I ordered a sleep shirt from Oodie, which was on sale, but still expensive (I paid around $60, including 1-2 business day shipping because I didn't think of it until the last minute), as well as a halloween one-sie from Old Navy that's apparently leftover from last year's halloween stock. I'm expecting the onesie to be way too hot, but I need something I can wear out in public in case I have to get groceries, or pick something up at the pharmacy, or stand outside because the building's burning, without exposing myself. I also borrowed a robe to go over the sleep shirt when I leave the hospital.
Have whoever's picking you up bring 2 pillows. One goes between your abdomen and the seatbelt, and you sit on the other one.
Have whoever's picking you up bring fast food. When you leave the hospital you're going to either be ravenously hungry or feel like you never want to eat again. Either way, fast food is going to be the one thing you didn't realize you needed so badly in your life until that moment. Your body's going to be craving carbs and fat, and fat is also what's going to help your pain pills kick in.
Have ice cream, chips or other junk food on hand. This is mostly so that you have something to eat when you take your pain pills. Fatty foods help opiates work faster; as someone who takes them several times a month for chronic pain, I've sometimes noticed a difference of -hours- between taking them with fatty foods and taking them on their own.
Get a walking aid. We use our abdomens for everything. If you don't already have something like a cane, pick one up. Keep the receipt though; if you don't end up using it, you can usually take them back. With that said, my therapist said it's at about the 2 week mark when you feel like you actually need one. If you don't have a cane but you have walking/hiking sticks, dig them out and keep them handy.
Grab some baby wipes. You can get laparoscopic incisions wet, but that doesn't mean you're going to feel like you have the energy or endurance to shower right away. You're still going to want to keep your pits and bits clean.
If you take daily medications, organize them in a pill organizer. Things can get confusing when you're on painkillers, or when a partner is dishing out your meds. You know exactly how many you take, and how often, so the best way to approach this is to get a pill organizer and get all your doses for a week ready before your surgery. Monday AM, Monday PM, Tuesday AM, Tuesday PM, that kind of thing. There's nothing worse than being on painkillers and trying to remember if you've already taken That Very Important Medication You Can't Miss or not. Or, worse, not even realizing you've missed something that can give you withdrawal symptoms, and suddenly waking up a few days after surgery feeling worse than you've ever felt in your life and wondering if you need to go to the ER, only to have it turn out that you missed your meds.
Buy something for yourself that you can look forward to. I bought a video game that I've wanted for a couple of years that was finally on sale. I haven't touched it, and won't until sometime after surgery when I feel up to it. Giving yourself a little reward when you're going through something hard is always nice.
If you're diabetic...take a minute before your surgery to remind your partner/anyone you live with/anyone who's going to be looking after you about how and when to check your blood sugars, what numbers are abnormal for you, and what to do about them. Being ill or recovering from a surgery can really throw your diabetes out of whack, even if it's well-controlled beforehand, and recovering from surgery might make you feel a lot of the same symptoms you'd feel from a hypo/hyper or DKA, so make sure you (or someone else) test your sugars regularly and have things on hand to deal with abnormal or worrying results.
Take your phone everywhere. Painkillers (and pain) can make us unsteady. As someone who's taken a fall and had to wait hours for my partner to wake up and find me and help me back to my feet (and then bed), I don't recommend it.
These are the things I know about pre-surgery, but I'll try to update...eventually if I learn anything new post-surgery.

When I’m feeling depressed, it can be nearly impossible to take care of myself, and that includes eating. Here’s a list of some foods that require little to no effort (aka: can be eaten right out of the package or just need to be microwaved), mainly for my personal reference, but also so others can find easier alternatives when they’re struggling.
Water bottles or canned water - stay hydrated!!
vegetables - green beans, peas, corn, black/kidney/pinto beans, chickpeas (all canned or microwaveable frozen bags) - I’ve also tried Harvest Snaps, which are baked snap peas & they’re v good
Fruit - grapes, raisins (or any other dried fruit like apricots/dates), mandarin oranges, apples, applesauce cups, bananas, pears, peaches, etc. (most fruits require no prep anyway, but especially if they’re canned - you can also buy frozen bags)
Canned soup or chicken, beef, or veggie broth
Pasta (ramen, spaghetti, mac and cheese, chow mein) or instant rice are my go-tos. You can buy these in individual cups or bulk packs.
Any microwaveable food - frozen/tv dinners, burritos, toaster strudels (they make an egg bacon & cheese version too!), mini pizzas, breakfast sandwiches… there’s a lot you could do here :)
Dairy - Yogurt, cheese sticks, (or just straight up eat cheese slices, there are no rules here), cottage cheese, almond/oat/soy milk, powdered milk (if you want something shelf-stable)
Grains & carbs - cereal, crackers, chips, popcorn, toast or bagels (I’ve eaten plain bread before tbh and it kinda slaps), Oatmeal (these packets are dinosaur themed & have little sugar eggs!! - https://www.quakeroats.com/products/hot-cereals/instant-oatmeal/dinosaur-eggs)
Nuts - peanuts, peanut butter, almonds, cashews, walnuts, trail mix, etc.
Meat - deli turkey, trail bologna, spam, jerky, frozen chicken strips or nuggets, Morningstar vegetarian corn dogs, canned tuna
Eggs
Fast food or take-out is also a good option if you don’t feel like making anything yourself.
A little tip - most foods you would take on a camping or hiking trip are great! for some, all you need to do is add water & heat it up. they are usually on the expensive side, though!! here’s some I’ve found that are decent:
https://mountainhouse.com/
Things to keep on hand for particularly bad days:
Boost/ensure/Soylent - liquid meals for when the idea of chewing or mixing anything is too much.
disposable cutlery/bowls/utensils so you don’t have more dishes to worry about.
Multivitamins
Liquid IV, Gatorade, or some other form of electrolytes. It’s too easy to get dehydrated!
If you do have a little energy to cook or make something, here’s some ideas:
If you have a blender: frozen spinach + frozen banana + shelf stable almond milk + peanut butter makes a great smoothie.
frozen fruit + frozen spinach/kale for smoothies
Adding whey protein makes it more filling.
dried pasta + jarred pasta sauce (Rao’s is low sugar and awesome, but pricey) + frozen meatballs
Boil tortellini on hand. Its as easy as boiling water. You can eat it plain, add a spoonful of pesto, sprinkle with a little olive oil or butter and some garlic salt, or pour it back in the pan after draining and add a little pasta sauce
frozen fried rice + frozen stir fry veggies
favorite frozen protein and veggies for sheet pan meals
canned refried beans with a tortilla and some cheese to microwave, can add extra toppings too
oatmeal + pb + dried fruit of choice
rice cakes + pb + jam (or substitute bread if you have it)
Rotisserie chicken in a salad, soup, sandwich or wrap
Frozen salmon with some veggies
air fryer foods - chicken nuggets, tenders, fries, etc. You can also toss different vegetables (baby carrots, Brussels sprouts, etc.) in a little olive oil and throw them in there
chicken broth & frozen dumplings - you can dress it up a little with some miso, soy sauce or other seasonings. You could also add some frozen vegetables.
snack type food - a combination of canned Garbanzo beans and black olives. The olives are salty enough that you can get low sodium beans and it will still taste good.
A lot of these ideas I stole from the good people of Reddit (particularly r/depressionmeals)!Here’s the post I referenced if you’d like to look further into it:

So I’ve had a really awful month- first my family and I had to put one of our cats down because he suddenly got really sick, and then my uncle passed away from stage four kidney cancer. I never got to say goodbye to him and I feel awful about it. I recently found out that my great aunt who’s had cancer for a long time is going into hospice because her chemo treatments aren’t working, and it feels like I just haven’t had a break from all this bad news and grief. It feels like it’s never ending and I’m afraid that something else horrible is going to happen. I was wondering, how do you think the Bucci gang would react to my situation if I was friends with them? Thank you so much for answering
LEAN ON ME - BUCCI GANG X READER

Masterlist
Bruno’s easily the most comforting presence anyone could ever ask to have in their life, and he proves it with how he reacts to hearing the news from them as they cry their heart out to him
Maybe he won’t be so forward so as to embrace them, but he gently takes their hand in his, a silent vow to always be there for them, sealing it with a small smile
He’s the best to offer calming words; even though he knows that he can’t give them empty promises that things will be fine, what he can do is reassure them that no matter what happens in their personal life, it’s totally fine to grieve with him
Having seen all the horrors there are in Napoli, he’d never invalidate their feelings or their struggles, and it’s that fact that makes him such a lovely friend to have
If any expenses were necessary, whether at the hospice, funeral, burial grounds, or even just comforting purchases for themself, he’d pay for them all; it’s the least he could do to alleviate some of their pain and take away their troubles
He’s a tough nut to crack, but once having become friends with him, Abbacchio is the most loyal and devoted man there is, which makes him a great listener despite himself
All grump and daily exasperation pushed aside, he becomes that silent supporter that they need, listening to all their worries and sobs about the grief they’d been carrying all alone for a long time
He’s not the best with coming to terms with death and still carries a lot of guilt himself, so he won’t be the best in that area, but at the very least he can offer a night of heart-to-heart talk over drinks, where everything they need to feel lighter is taken care of
Abbacchio will never leave their side, even if he prefers to linger in the shadows and let them take the grief headfirst, because he knows that escaping from the truth never did him any well… it might seem a little cruel, but they both know he’s doing it for their own good
And at the end of the day, when their tears are blurring their vision and their heart feels so heavy it becomes a burden in their chest, he shoulders half the weight with them just by being so close
As much as Mista believes that a lighthearted attitude can ease any tension and shoulder off any burden, he’s not an insensitive prick and knows when that is not welcomed nor the right way to go about it
So, with a little awkwardness, he learns to sit still and listen to them earnestly as they tear up and let outball their worries and grief in one go, even if it snaps his heart in two to hear them so distraught
He’s had his fair share of losing loved ones and worrying over other people’s lives without having had the chance to say goodbye, but he’s never really outwardly expressed it, so this might actually be a little therapeutic for him too
With hands as gentle as they are when dealing with the Sex Pistols, he wraps them in a casual but affectionate embrace and encourages them to always lean on him
He’s as dependable as could be, so he’d never fail to offer them solace when things get too rough and they feel overwhelmed with heartbreak
Giorno’s always been torn between immense apathy and absolute understanding of other people’s emotions, but when it comes to this happening to someone so dear to him, he’d empathize with them immediately
After having become the Don, he knows more than anyone just how difficult it is to say goodbye too soon, and how hard it is to still continue about your day while still carrying guilt for having not been ready for it
So he’d be the best person to seek that sort of quiet, understanding comfort from, and it helps that he’s not a man of many words; he believes that simply sitting beside them and offering his shoulder for them to lean their head on is more than enough to show his endless support
He’s quick to reassure them that things won’t get worse—as long as he’s there with them, they’ll never have to worry about anything because he’ll always offer his protection and services
As for the realm of life and death? Though it’s out of his hands, he’ll always stand beside them, come what may, and they could always count on that
Fugo was still grieving himself when they came to him with tears streaking down their cheeks and a heartbroken expression on their face, and he found that he couldn’t turn them away
For someone who had so few friends that he cherished so much, he felt it tug at his heartstrings seeing them so upset, and he felt the urge to instantly offer them comfort, but simply didn’t know how to go about it
It soon became apparent to him that being there was simply more than enough; yes, him trying to talk to them and reassure them that it’s alright to struggle with their muddled feelings at the moment was helpful, but the gentle patting of his hand at their back was more than perfect
He might try to rationalize their fears while simultaneously trying to convince them that they weren’t very logical, which might come off as a bit rude, but it was just his awkward attempt at trying to dispel their worries
As someone who frequented the hospital before to see other people, he’d probably offer to visit the hospice with them if that’s what they wish; he’s immune to the negativity that thrives there, and would do anything to make himself a reliable presence when he tags along with them
It’s no secret that Narancia wears his heart on his sleeve, and gets very easily affected by the changing moods around him—and with someone so close to him feeling so terrible, it’s impossible for him to not feel for them
When they run to him and cry into his chest, he finds it hard to blink back the tears that formed in his eyes as they sobbed and vented to him about how absolutely devastated they were, and how the walls felt like they were closing in on them; a familiar enough feeling for the mafioso
While there isn’t much in his hands to do, he’s more than eager to wrap them in the warmest hug imaginable and offer his most sincere condolences
Now it seems that everywhere they go, they’ll find Narancia tagging along and keeping them company, hoping that doing so will lessen the burden and encourage them to embrace how they’re feeling and voice all their fears and worries
Personally, he’s got far too much bad history with hospitals and illnesses, so he would rather not go with them, but he’s more than willing to make up for it by waiting for them with their comfort take-out food as soon as they get back

2. "Looks like you're on your own hook, too."
ROSEMARY - "Of course, of course, of course..." The drunk raises his pilsner and nods. "It is what it is, you know? What it's always been. People, buddy-boy, it's the people."
COMPOSURE [Medium: Success] - He has long forgotten what you were talking about.
3. "Why does the bottle of spirits cost 300 reál?"
ROSEMARY - "See, friend..." He brings out a one-litre bottle with blue-ish liquid. The mouth is corked shut. "It's *real* valuable. Worth every reál, if you catch my drift. Got it from a bit of a business venture..."
Nod -- let him speak.
"No one can buy spirits for 300 reál, that's crazy."
"I'll just have the spirits and not the story today, thank you."
ROSEMARY - "You know, it's funny, actually..." He bursts out laughing, then takes three gulps of his pilsner and stares at you intently.
PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Medium: Success] - He's finding it difficult to focus his watery gaze.
"What is?"
ROSEMARY - "What?"
"What do you mean *what*? What did you think was funny earlier?"
"Forget about it, I just want the spirits!"
ROSEMARY - "This guy, this guy..." He says and shakes his index finger at you.
SUGGESTION [Easy: Success] - Conversation might bring a discount, no?
"Where did you get the bottle of spirits from?"
"Okay, can I just get the spirits if that's okay with you?"
"You know what?! I don't even want the spirits anymore!"
ROSEMARY - "Oh, this is medicinal spirits. The good stuff. Got it from the doctor's office."
HORRIFIC NECKTIE - He ain't shitting you. Medicinal spirits are a blast, *bratan*. The flaming truth of this joke of a world.
ROSEMARY - "I got one of those scientific ampoules a few months ago. 'Torpedo' they call it. It's supposed to keep a man from takin' a drink." He spits a nasty yellow clot on the ground before you.
"Didn't stop *me* for shit, that's for sure!" His voice rings with pride. "Five lemons with half a pack of butter and you're good to go."
"That's a good tip, I should remember it."
"That sounds dangerous."
ROSEMARY - "It was," he croaks. "In a week the goddamned kidneys started giving me all kinds of hell. Finally the missus took me to a private doctor's office -- not a charity, the real thing..."
"Those assholes!" He gets visibly angry. "Those assholes charged me *four reál* to remove the damn thing. But I came out on top after all!"
"Assholes..."
"Have they no shame taking money for a service they provide!"
"Okay, how?"
ROSEMARY - "But the idiots left me alone in there. Now, I used to teach high school biology. I *know* what doctors use to preserve dead thingies..." He gets an excited gleam in his eyes.
"Two I already sold to these fine gentlemen here," he nods at his companions. "But this last one is yours for three reál, if you want it?"
REACTION SPEED [Easy: Success] - Don't say it.
"I thought it was 300 reál."
"Can I smell it first?"
"I think it will prove... useful. Yes."
"No, not really."
ROSEMARY - "Here..." He uncorks the bottle and holds it under your nose. "Be careful, it's extremely flammable. One spark and the entire city of Revachol is wiped off the map."
PAIN THRESHOLD [Legendary: Failure] - Feels like someone set a mustard field ablaze right inside your nose, then drenched it in tear gas. Your nose is a singular source of pain... but at the same time you don't remember the last time you felt so alive.
LOGIC [Medium: Success] - In all fairness, that might be attributed to the retrograde amnesia.
HORRIFIC NECKTIE - Did I not tell you, *bratan*? This is it -- this is our party drink. This is what we're having, baby! Please get it for me! (The tie vibrates excitedly around your neck again.)
ROSEMARY - "So, what's the deal, friend? Want the spirits or not?"
"I think it will prove… useful. Yes."
"No, not really."
ROSEMARY - "Three reál and it's yours, friend. The deal of a lifetime!"
REACTION SPEED - Well done. You got it.
LOGIC [Medium: Success] - That's a much more reasonable price right there. Makes sense now.
Well, shit, at those prices we can't afford *not* to buy it.
3. [3 reál] "Here's the money for the spirits."
Item gained: Blue Medicinal Spirit
ROSEMARY - He hands you the bottle. "Jus' make sure to *enjoy* that one, friend!"
HORRIFIC NECKTIE - *Bratan*, I am so proud. Now -- whatever you do, don't drink it. This deserves so much more than just regular *oral* consumption.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Easy: Success] - The tie is *SO* on the money there! Up the bum it goes!
Huh...
But… I don't wanna put it up my bum.
Okay, right. We're putting it in the bum!
HORRIFIC NECKTIE - Who said anything about putting it up there? No, we're gonna put it in a *way* more special place. Soooo special. Just hang on to it, keep it safe. Wait for my sign!
INLAND EMPIRE [Easy: Success] - Soon. The time will come soon. Have patience, brave one.
We could also buy more alcohol to trade to Idiot Doom Spiral, but let's see if we can find some around first.
6. "I'm off." [Leave.]
ROSEMARY - "In the civilized world, it's a custom to tip the shopkeep, friend. But come back anyway." He waves you off.
BLUE MEDICINAL SPIRIT
The liquid has an unearthly blue tint. The kind that might or might not, but definitely *does* glow in the dark. This is 98,7 pure alcohol. Keep it away from an open flame.
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - "Don't call Abigail," grumbles an unshaven man with a ruddy nose. He narrows his eyes at you as if in recognition, then turns his head away.
PERCEPTION (SMELL) [Medium: Success] - The noxious odour emanating from the drunken man is strong and familiar.
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - "Don't ya call her, ya hear. Don't call Abigail..."
"I am the law."
"Who is Abigail?"
"I'll call whoever I want, don't tell me what to do."
"This is making me uncomfortable." [Leave.]
+1 Lawbringer
KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant sighs. "You really don't have to... Besides, he won't understand you anyway."
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - "Abigail... oh, Abigail..." He mutters while trying to brush something off his extremely dirty trousers. His movements are slow and awkward.
2. "Who is Abigail?"
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - He draws out a disgusting snort, then mumbles, waving a finger in your general direction: "Ugh... Abigail... don't ya... fuckin'... call Abigail."
SUGGESTION [Easy: Success] - Abigail is his wife or girlfriend. Chances are, she's gone. Calling her wouldn't make it any better or worse.
"Who are you? What's your name?"
"Where am I? What is this place?"
"Why shouldn't I call Abigail?"
"Tell me about your friends." (Point to the others.)
Walk away. [Leave.]
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - His eyes move around erratically, the look in them hazy and unfocused. "Don't call Abigail," he says.
2. "Where am I? What is this place?"
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - The man hiccups, then mumbles something unintelligible.
3. "Why shouldn't I call Abigail?"
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - He snorts and beckons you to lean in closer.
Lean in.
Don't lean in.
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - His breath smells harsh like a toxic swamp as he whispers to you: "Don't call Abigail. Don't call Abigail!" He then waves his hand, as if shooing you away.
"Hey, I'm on an important official investigation, I demand you answer my questions."
KIM KITSURAGI - "There's no use in yelling at drunks," the lieutenant interjects. "He's barely holding it together."
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - The drunk man starts coughing, a really disgusting hacking cough.
5. "Tell me about your friends." (Point to the others.)
DON'T CALL ABIGAIL - He glares at you. "Don't ya fuckin' call her, hear me." His voice trembles with every word, becoming ever weaker. "Abigail," he whimpers in the end.
"Don'... don'..." the man stammers, "don't call..." Slowly, his head nods off to the side and he passes out, tongue dangling from his mouth.
+5 XP
KIM KITSURAGI - "There was little chance he'd be a reliable witness, anyway."

General Tips for people with EDs
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Water :
We absolutely must drink water to survive, and it has zero calories, so there's no excuse to not drink it. As we typically get much of our water content through foods, when we reduce food intake we begin to dehydrate ourselves, which is dangerous. Also, cold water chills the body and may raise metabolism to get warm again.
Reasons to drink water:
It lubricates the joints
It forms saliva and mucus
If delivers oxygen throughout your entire body
It boosts skin health and beauty
It cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissue
It regulates body temperature
Your digestive system depends on it
It flushes body waste
It maintains your blood pressure
Your airways need it
Prevents kidney damage
Weight loss
Finally, it reduces the chance of a hungover
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Vitamins and Minerals:
We must have these, too, to survive and so again there is no excuse to not take at least a basic daily multivitamin (which may help reduce some cravings as well). Vitamins are vital in keeping our bodies functioning and our skin / hair / teeth nice. Particularly be aware of electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, salt, along with water balance) and calcium.
Reasons to take to help with weightloss....
Vitamin C: it has been proven that people with low vitamin C status tend to burn less fat when exercising
Vitamin B12: Faster metabolism
Omega 3: Increases fat breakdown, decreases muscle inflammation, large amounts are usually taken by big time athletes
Ashwagandha: Increases muscle mass which results in a faster metabolism, improves sleeping patterns(Lack of sleep = High blood sugar = weight gain)
Vitamin B2: Helps your body break down fats, carbs, and proteins
Fenugreek: it’s an herb that works as an appetite supressant, just be careful with it and do research
Vitamin D: Helps with hairloss, dry skin, and depression
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Protein:
Protein is necessary, particularly if you're exercising. It maintains and repairs our muscles, including heart muscle, which is (last I heard) kind of a requisite for continued survival.
Reduces appetite and hunger levels
Increases muscle mass and strength
Good for your bones
Reduces cravings and late night binging
Boosts metabolism and increases fat burning
Lowers blood pressure
Helps maintain weight loss
Helps your body repair itself after injury
Helps you stay fit as you age
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fat Intake:
Fat has, per gram, more calories than any other source of energy and is stored more easily. Switch to low fat everything, then progress to nonfat. Nonfat food tends to taste like crap (in my opinion) and you may end up eating less because of that.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Caffeine:
While caffeine can be an appetite suppressant and can increase your metabolism, it will also act as a diuretic. Drink a glass of water for each cup of tea, coffee, or diet soda you have. Again, dehydration is a potentially serious problem.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips:
Always read labels to avoid nasty surprises. This happens to me all the time and makes for some panicky stress-moments. Also, look up food charts and be aware of the caloric / nutritional content of everything you eat.
Understand yourself. Learn what you need, and when, and why. Everyone is unique and there are no hard-and-fast universally applicable laws. Our bodies are very good at telling us what we need, and knowing what you need gives control over how you choose to satisfy those needs.
Find your binge triggers, be they food or places or people or feelings. Avoid them at all costs. Figure out more acceptable ways of dealing with those triggers than stuffing yourself silly.
Learn when you tend to eat and why you eat then in particular. Plan to be doing something unrelated to food at those times. Many of us find night to be the hardest time to avoid food.
Get plenty of sleep. Steal naps whenever you can and rest when you need to rest. Sleep deprivation increases appetite and makes you age faster.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The end! Thank you for reading <3

New's T skincare (and more) recs🏳️⚧️🥄
Hello! I'm a enby spoonie trying out a low dose of testosterone for gender and health reasons. Some of you asked how I'm managing my skin now that it's oilier on T, so here are some recs. If you find any of this information helpful, please consider dropping a tip in my ko-fi, becoming a Patron, or donating to my GoFundMe. Every bit helps me afford medical care and stay afloat when I'm too sick to work. ❕ Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor or an expert, just an ex-retail worker with a special interest in skincare. These are products/routines that work for me, so you'll have to experiment to find out what your skin responds to. Always patch test and if your skin really struggles on T, definitely talk to a dermatologist. This isn't my entire collection of skincare, just stuff that is especially good for managing/healing acne. I'll still be listing some products I don't have yet but plan to get in the future as suggestions. If you want to know about other things like under eye care, send an ask and I'll try to answer. Also, you don't have to be on T to try any of this stuff out. If you have some of the same skin concerns I do, then some of these things may be a good match for you. Even before T, it took work to keep my skin clear. It just takes more intensive care now.
ʙᴇꜰᴏʀᴇ ᴡᴇ ɢᴇᴛ ɪɴᴛᴏ ɪᴛ: 𓈒⠀𓂃⠀⠀˖⠀𓇬⠀˖⠀⠀𓂃⠀𓈒
✨Keep in mind that I'm really extra and having a fancy routine like this is part of how I self-regulate. I also have different routines depending on time of the year, time of day, my cycle, whether or not I wore sunscreen/makeup/a mask that day, etc. You absolutely do not need to go as hard as I do with so many products. If you're completely new to skincare, it's fine to keep it simple with cleanser, toner, and moisturizer (and sunscreen when going out!), with masks or spot treatments as needed. 💊A little more info on my situation: I'm on T in short cycles for subtle changes and it turns out that T is really good at treating some chronic illness as well, especially autoimmune disorders. I'm diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, type 2 narcolepsy, fibromyalgia, myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS), and more. I've been "suspected" for RRMS for a few years due to all of my neurological symptoms but my MRI's don't show much other than some bulging discs. I'm not officially diagnosed yet but am suspected for endometriosis, with an enlarged ovary, backed-up kidneys, unidentified lesions on my colon/bladder, and daily debilitating pelvic/back pain. My periods kill me dead but even when not on them, I'm still in a lot of pain all the time. So far the T really helps with fibro pain and definitely gives me more stamina. My periods have been easier too. Still not pleasant, but not killing me as much. The fact that I've been able to work even one day on my period the past few months is a huge improvement, even if I'm still doubled over with a heating pad. One concern I had with starting T was my skin. I've never had severe acne, but I'm still acne prone as an adult. Luckily I worked in skincare for a while, so I've had a solid skincare routine for a long time now. Since starting T, I've been refining my routine in order to minimize breakouts and heal ones that do happen. The same goes for my hair/scalp routine since I have psoriasis and have to do clarifying treatments twice a week anyway. T can carry the risk of more oil, clogging, and fall out. This post will mostly be about skin but I'll add some of my hair and other recs too. ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

✦•······················•✦•······················•✦ Skincare 1. Cleansers
I have a lot of cleansers because I like to be prepared for every situation, so only a few are pictured here and only ones related to acne care will be listed below. If you want to know what other kinds of cleansers I use, send me an ask! a. Morning Cleansers - In the morning, I usually just do wipes to avoid stripping too much. I'll only actually do a cleanser with water if I feel particularly oily or if I'm actively breaking out and need to start the day with something that's more of a treatment. Senka All Clear Water White - Shiseido, the makers of Senka Pure Whip (one of my fav cleanser lines!) now has a micellar water line. I've tried a lot of micellar waters over the years and this is definitely my favorite one. The Fuji Sakura essence and licorice root are brightening for dark spots (a problem I have after acne) and the Uji Green Tea essence is to remove excess oil and keep the skin matte. I wanted to try the Fresh version which is better for oily/acne prone skin, but was only able to get my hands on the White version but it works great. If I end up finding it, I'll update this post with my results. Fourth Ray Beauty Detox Sesh Purifying Cleansing Wipes - These are fabulous for oily break out mornings. Lots of good stuff like tea tree, witch hazel, and willow bark to treat acne. Can sting a little bit if you're sensitive, but hasn't given me any major issues. Sometimes I use it with a little bit of the micellar water to get an extra cleanse.
Trader Joe's Tea Tree wipes - Been using these for a really long time. They're quite strong, with tea tree and alcohol, so I mostly use them on my neck, chest, and shoulders for break outs there. But I still use them on the face a few times a week as needed for acne. There's also witch hazel, chamomile, ginger, neem, and more. Just a good combo of stuff. Since it's a bit stripping, be sure to tone and moisturize after.
b. Evening Cleansers - In the evening, I usually focus on double-cleansing, especially during a T cycle or if I've been out wearing sunscreen/makeup/mask. Double-cleansing is usually when you use an oil-based cleanser or balm to first cleanse other oils/gunk from skin, and then you use a foam or scrub-type cleanser after (or over) it to get that extra deep cleanse. Just make sure to tone/moisturize well after (will cover those steps too!). Trader Joe's Tea Tree Face Wash - A really simple but effective lathering oil cleanser. CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser - CeraVe products are great to start with, as they feature essential ceramides to maintain the skin's barrier. 4% benzoyl peroxide to clear acne, but also with hyaluronic acid to retain moisture and niacinamide to soothe. Senka Perfect Whip - One of my longtime go-to cleansers. It's perfectly soft and foamy, with a bunch of different types now for different skin needs. The original is great during warmer months when I'm oilier anyway, but in the winter I usually switch to Perfect Whip Collagen In for a little more moisture. They have a new Perfect Whip Acne Care foam with the inflammatory agent found in licorice root. I just got my hands on it in May and have been loving it. It's gentle but still potent enough to keep my skin super clear. Momo Puri Peach Moist Cleansing Wash - BCL is a brand I use a lot and their peach line is amazing for the probiotics and peach ceramides. Another great foaming cleanser to replenish the skin barrier but still get nice and clean.
Dark Angels - One of the only LUSH products still worth buying in my opinion (as an ex-employee). I've used this since it came out and it never lets me down. Charcoal and rhassoul are great for pores that get clogged easily, and it's got avocado oil to condition the skin. I scrub this one all over my face, neck, and chest to leave on for 5-10 minutes as a mask while I hang out in the tub. It clears me up fast without irritating my skin. How do I use foam cleansers? Four ways, depending on my needs/spoons that day:
Apply directly to wet skin and massage gently with hands
Apply directly to wet skin and use a very soft handheld brush in small circles. I got mine at Tokyo Central/Marukai Market, but can't recall the brand, sorry!
Use a foamer device to make big whippy clouds, then apply to skin and rub in circles/let sit for 20-60 seconds. Mine is from DAISO.
Apply cleanser to face and/or automatic cleansing brush. I use COSLUS brand. It was affordable and came with a lot of different brush heads, so you can use the one that's right for your skin's sensitivity. I love this thing! I normally use it maybe 1-2x a week, but now on T I use it a little bit more to make sure I get a deep cleanse. ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
2. Masks/treatments
a. Wash-off masks - Such as clay masks, gooey masks, or scrub/dissolving type treatments. Tsururi clay packs - Another great product from BCL. I've used these masks for a long time too, definitely my go-to for a quick but effective clay cleanse. These dry in less than 10 minutes. They have a few different types and currently I'm using the Mild Sea Clay pack with Okinawan clay and moisturizing things such as honey, collagen, and olive oil. This one is good if you're more sensitive, but I still find their regular mask gentle enough. They have a limited edition red clay and ghassoul pack that I really want to try as it'll be even better for blackheads. (Tsururi also has a white clay foam cleanser that I tried a few years ago, it's really nice) Tsururi Pore Cleansing Power Hot Stone - I've used this since I was a teenager, it's like magic. It warms up and dissolves gunk in the pores, so I save it for when I'm especially clogged or if I need my face to be extra clean before/after makeup. It's meant to be rubbed in for 60 seconds and rubbed off, but I tend to leave it on for a few minutes to let it do its work. I know this is fine for my skin, but be careful trying it out if you're extra sensitive. Ghassoul, zeolite, grapefruit extract, witch hazel, peppermint - just lots of good stuff for problem pores. SKINFOOD Pear Mint Mask - I'm fairly new to SKINFOOD but have been loving their products so far. This mask is a winner. The mint is cooling and refreshing, and so is the pear with the added benefit of moisture and nourishment. The base is kaolin clay so it's mild but still effective at cleansing pores. This brand has a bunch of other popular masks, so I can't wait to make my way through their lines. Next I want to try their Black Sugar Strawberry Mask. Mad City Soap - Tea Tree & Mint Foaming Facial Scrub - I've bought soaps and body scrubs from this Etsy shop for a decade but only now started trying their skin and hair products. This one is more of a cleanser than a scrub but I use it as a treatment with my other cleansers. It's soo nice. It's creamy and soft, so minty and tingly and wonderful for current breakouts or for preventing them. I use it 1-3x a week as needed. Very potent and a little goes a long way. I'm From Honey Mask - My all-time favorite mask, it leaves me glowing. It's a little bit on the pricier side for me, but it's always worth it. I've been using this for several years and I save it for skin emergencies or special occasions. Honey is a recurring ingredient in a lot of my skincare because it's just so good. It's anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, soothing, and helps with elasticity and moisture. So it's not just great for acne, but for anything, really. This mask is very deeply healing so I usually use it after I've had to go hard on harsher acne products and I'm wanting to soothe and repair my skin barrier. This can be a quick 10-20 minute mask but I also leave it on for a full hour when I really need the extra help. This mask uses honey from the Jiri Mountains in South Korea, which have such an abundant variety of flowers that the honey is just jam-packed with healing properties. TONYMOLY I'm Honey Deep Moisture Rescue Mask - If you're on a budget and can't afford the I'm From mask, this one is a great alternative. Honey, propolis, and royal jelly all soothe and hydrate. Still really effective for soothing after harsher acne treatments or during colder weather.
b. Sheet Masks - These masks are great for delivering a bunch of moisture and treatment to the face. I typically save these for emergencies or special occasions but they're also great to use once a week. Make sure to squeeze out what's in the bag too, you can rub it on your neck and chest if you like. Most sheet masks are meant to be left on 10-20 minutes. Ingredients I use a lot are: tea tree or charcoal for break outs, honey or aloe for soothing/healing, strawberry or other fruits for exfoliation, snail mucin for barrier restoration. Naisture - A brand I've used for over a decade, with a lot to choose from. Their tea tree mask is great for break-out days and they also have really soothing aloe and honey ones too. There are a lot of sheet mask brands out there. Other brands I like are Lululun, Kose, and My Beauty Diary. BCL has a 1-minute all-in-one morning sheet mask line called Saborino. They cleanse, moisturize, and prime. I usually use them on work days or tired mornings. I've only tried the grapefruit/avocado one so far but they have so many now. They even have night time masks which would be soothing especially after acne care and covers toner, lotion, essence, cream, and mask in just one minute (but you can leave on for 5-10 if you really need to). ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹ c. Spot Treatments
MediHeal Tea Tree Trouble Pads - These are great because I don't always want to do a full sheet mask when I have just one or two problem areas. These are like mini sheet masks that come in square pads. I like to cut them in half so I can more easily place them in strips on my face.
Sunday Riley Saturn Sulfur Spot Treatment - I've used this spot treatment for years, it's wonderful for clearing current break-outs and preventing more. Though it can be a little strong and make me red/itchy, so I use it sparingly and always do soothing care afterward.
MAREE Acne Patches - Pimple patches are life-changing. Great way to not just heal acne with the hydrocolloid gel plus ingredients like tea tree and green algae gel, but it covers the acne up to protect it while you go about your day. A very fast and gentle way to heal stubborn pimples. ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹ 3. Toners
A lot of people skip toners completely and so I get asked a lot why they matter. Toner is an important step for a few reasons: after cleansing, sometimes we can be stripped of natural sebum (oil), so toning is a good way to replenish that moisture. But it also helps prime the skin for moisturizer. The skin's like a sponge, so it's going to absorb moisturizer better if you wet it first with a toner. These days, there are so many kinds of toners with different ingredients and purposes. So I choose a different toner depending on the time of day, weather, how my skin is acting, etc. Fourth Ray Beauty Fresh AF Mist - A very gentle rehydrating spray toner made with rose and cucumber water. Great for refreshing throughout the day too. SKINFOOD Peach Sake Toner - This is from SF's Peach Sake line which is fabulous for oily skin. Sake is astringent but peach is nourishing and rehydrating. I use this on my face, neck, and chest to control oil production. Super matte! Momo Puri Peach Moist Barrier - another peach line that's amazing, with peach ceramides and probiotics to restore the barrier. BCL has a few different kinds of this toner for your needs. I go with this regular light version but they have a milky version if you're on the dry side. Naturalism by Baeville Turmeric & Honey Glow Toner - Another great Etsy find. Turmeric is great to even out skin tone, but this one also has a lot of other great ingredients for acne prone skin such as witch hazel, rose water, aloe vera, rosemary, chamomile, tea tree, green tea, and more. Another one I love to use on my face, neck, and chest. COSRX Full Fit Propolis Synergy Toner - My current evening toner. Not only anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial for acne, but very soothing and moisturizing for glowing skin. ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹ 4. Serums/essences/emulsions - I typically use different serums for morning and evening, rotating them as well or switching it up as needed. This is just what works for me. Some people prefer retinol only at night, for example. So listen to your skin and find what works. a. Morning Serums
SKINFOOD Black Sugar Serum - This one has been highly rated for years for sebum (oil) control, so when I had the extra money to get it, I was so excited. It's really nice, both hydrating but also helps to control oil. Definitely keeping my skin clear. SANA Nameraka Honpo Isoflavone Essence - Sana's Isoflavone products have been a staple of my skincare for over a decade. They have soy and arbutin which is great for collagen production and brightening hyperpigmentation. I've used their cleansers, toners, masks, moisturizers, eye creams, and spot treatments. They never disappoint! And they even have so many lines depending on your needs, such as CoQ10, acne control with extra arbutin, and more. This particular essence is one of their basic products, I use it mostly to keep my skin tone even. It's also super soft and moisturizing. Definitely something I use a lot in the winter. SKINFOOD Peach Sake Pore Serum - More Peach Sake because it's so good. This serum is so softening and helps the skin stay matte. CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum - An amazing must-have retinol serum to fade acne marks. It's also brightening and uses ceramides to maintain the skin barrier. Retinol can be a lot on the skin, so I only use it every other day. If you're new to this ingredient, definitely start slow and see how you do. Retinol can cause peeling if you go too hard. Always, and I mean always, wear a good sunscreen if you leave the house on retinol days. b. Evening Serums
Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium Whitening Emulsion - This brand has been getting popular online. I don't usually use emulsions but this one is highly rated for fading post-acne hyperpigmentation and sun damage. It has vitamin E, C, hyaluronic acid to moisturize and nourish. Glycyrrhizic acid (from licorice) is also anti-inflammatory so it seems to even help prevent acne. It's very light too, so I haven't felt like it was too heavy for my oily T skin. This stuff works so well! One day I'll try their other products. COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - I've used products with a little snail mucin before and they were nice, but this is the real deal. My friend let me try it at the bath house one night and I was hooked. Snail mucin is intensely hydrating, healing, softening, and calming. It works great with harsher serums such as vit C or retinol. Perfect for barrier-rebuilding. This is great for any skin type, so I've been able to use it no matter what condition my skin is in. This is something I will be buying probably forever, it's really effective and feels great. They also have creams and other snail mucin products, I can't wait to try! Dear Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum - I've used this serum probably 8 years by now. Also super soothing and hydrating while not being heavy. This one is great if you're having a sensitive skin day or spent time in the sun. There's also a moisturizer in this line which is really great. Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum - Another new try for me this year. Propolis and niacinamide are great for inflammation, controlling oil, and treating hyperpigmentation. The reviews for this one said it was great for preventing acne and also healing it. It really does give the skin a lovely glow and it's gentle enough to use on sensitive days. (This brand also has a retinol + ginseng eye serum and it's seriously the best eye care I've ever used. Revives my tired spoonie eyes well.)
Fourth Ray All Clear Purifying Serum - A very potent acne clearing serum. Salicylic acid is usually my go-to for an active break-out. Also has tranexamic acid for those pesky post-acne marks. It's supposed to be gentle enough for daily use but I'm extra sensitive so I only use it as-needed, a few times a week usually. Momo Puri Booster Serum - This serum is so powerful that I save it for skin emergencies or special occasions. Seriously intensely healing, and so thick that each little "peach" pack lasts me two uses. ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹ 5. Moisturizers - I rotate moisturizers a lot, so my line up typically changes year to year. But I usually use gels more than creams (or mixed gel-cream types) because they don't clog my pores.
a. Morning moisturizers SKINFOOD Peach Jelly - For a while I was using pure aloe vera gel as a morning moisturizer, which works great. When I saw SKINFOOD had a peach version, I immediately got it since I'm super into peach skincare lately. It's just really great for repairing the skin barrier and retaining moisture. This one might be a limited edition though, it seems to run out fast. They have a plain aloe version too. Another brand I'd recommend for super sensitive skin is Aloderma, they have a ton of great aloe products. Sana Honey Shca All in One Gel - I've used this product for almost a decade. It's really gentle and soothing while technically covering all your bases: toner, serum, cream and mask. So this is good if you're in a hurry in the mornings. Lately it's been running out of stock online but I always see it at Tokyo Central/Marukai Market. b. Evening moisturizers Momo Puri Sleeping Jelly Cool - A cooling sleep-mask version of their gel that really helps calm inflammation overnight. Feels great in the summer. Can sometimes be hard to find, but I also recommend their gel cream. Fourth Ray After Hours Detox Face Oil - Aa powerful oil for treating acne during sleep. Bamboo charcoal, salicylic acid, tea tree, watermelon seed all help to unclog pores and keep bacteria from causing trouble. This stuff packs a punch. Sunday Riley U.F.O. acne treatment oil - This one's more on the expensive side with the smaller size being $40 so I haven't bought it in a while, but I wanted to include it because it's really good. 1.5% salicylic acid, tea tree, black cumin to clear skin, licorice for hyperpigmentation. To prevent drying it also has cucumber seed and there's chamomile to soothe inflammation. ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹ 6. Body acne care - Body acne has been a recurring struggle since I was a teenager. Sometimes I'll go long stretches without it but then once summer or a bad PMS time hits, I break out on my chest, neck, back. T has definitely made it harder for me to manage at times, but here's what I use.
Dove Acne Clear body wash - A solid salicylic acid and bamboo extract wash for body acne. Amazon Basics Clarifying Grapefruit body wash - also with SA. DemiDoeNaturals Turmeric Carrot Honey soap - Excellent soap for fading acne marks. My skin turns very red when I break out and the marks take a long time to fade, so ingredients like turmeric and carrot are just what I need to heal.
To reach my back and exfoliate, I use the brush with the long handle. The smaller brush is used on my chest and neck. I got the big one at the 99c store and the smaller one is from a boar hair dry brushing kit. AcneFree SA body spray - body sprays are really useful! This one works really well. I did have some trouble with the actual spraying sometimes because of my weak grip. This one's a little more expensive, around $20, but it lasted me a long time. It dries nice and quick too. Nature's Cure body spray - Another good spray, easier to use. Trader Joe's Tea Tree Oil - Any tea tree oil will do but I've used TJ's since I was a teenager. I add it to other oils for scalp treatments or spot treatments on my body/face. Make sure you dilute it, it's very strong. ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
7. Extra things that can help - These are things you don't necessarily need, but have been worth the investment for me. Face powder - A small compact translucent powder can make a huge difference, especially during the hot weather. I've recently started using Skin Food's Peach Cotton Pore Blur Pact, a sebum-controlling powder. It's very silky and gentle, with a mild peach scent. Keeps my face nice and matte without drying out. On especially oily T days, I reapply it once or twice. Ice Globes - Very cooling and soothing, helps with inflammation. Also great in general for headaches, chronic pain, etc. Glass ice globes are popular because they're pretty, but they can break easily. I'm clumsy and didn't want to take that chance, so I use stainless steel. I keep mine in the freezer and use as needed. If you're sensitive, maybe start out just keeping them in the fridge, because the cold can be intense. Gua sha - This has gotten popular in the past few years, love to see it. I mostly use gua sha on my body for circulation and pain management. But facial gua sha can be really helpful in keeping the skin clear. I wouldn't use it on an aggressive active break-out, but it's great for prevention. The roller kind is good for gentle use and the flat kinds are good for when you need to get some deeper work. Red light therapy - This has been a big one for me. I initially got a red light panel (with red light and near-infrared light for deeper penetration into organs and bones) to help manage chronic pain (osteoarthritis, endometriosis, ulcerative colitis, kidney issues, etc), but the first thing I noticed was how well it worked for my skin. Just 5 minutes a day on my face keeps me really clear, heals inflammation super fast and also boosts collagen production. I have a Hooga which I find simple and effective. I don't hang it, but simply prop it on the floor while I do yoga. If I need to concentrate on my back for an acne or pain flare, I just lie on my side and rest while basking for about 10-15 mins. Chlorophyll - I've been taking this in liquid form for over a decade. Initially it was for anemia and to help my colitis, but it does seem to make a big difference in my skin's condition when used consistently. Mulberry silk pillowcase - Even washing my old pillowcase regularly, I felt like it was time for an upgrade that would be even better at keeping my skin fresh. This one is a little pricey, but it's already made a big difference. Plus it's so cool and comfortable. Mine is by Alaska Bear. Clean your phone! - This one can be hard to remember since I don't talk on my phone all that much. But our phones are nasty, seriously. That can transfer to our face and cause problems. So I try to keep electronic cleansing wipes near my desk as a reminder to wipe my devices down every now and then. ⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ✿ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹ 8. Example routines - Just some examples of what my line up might look like. a. Example morning routine: Let's say I'm not breaking out yet, but maybe just a little, so I want to try a preventative approach. I might cleanse with the Detox Wipes and micellar water, use the Peach Sake toner to keep my skin from being too oily, then retinol serum to help with cell turnover. To give my skin some nourishment, then I'd use the Sana Soy Isoflavone essence and top off with Sana's Honey all in one gel. b. Example evening routine: Later, I'm still trying a preventative approach but my skin needs some soothing. So I might wash first with the tea tree oil cleanser, then scrub with Dark Angels and leave it on for a few minutes like a mini-mask. Synergy propolis toner and snail mucin to soothe and keep my barrier strong. Then Hada Labo emulsion to bring down inflammation, and the Detox Oil to keep the break-out at bay. I hope this was helpful. I may add haircare and other things to this since T definitely affects my scalp too.

happy new year from sYdney, aus! (Lmao i’m a loser who will never get over that)
i was scrolling thru ur sidney crosby stuff (bc this man has me GRIPPED I’m so embarrassed and obsessed) and I saw some of the teacher!reader stuff and I know most ppl default to like…teacher of young kids but please consider - high school teacher!reader
like yes reader is younger (I’m still thinking of ur age gap!sidney oh lord) but she’s been teaching high schoolers for nearly a decade now. so what if ur 36 and 180cm and a professional goon athlete on the ice. so what if ur shorter than literally all of sid’s teammates. hs teacher!reader has a presence and you WILL listen to her when she tells a room full of adrenaline fuelled hockey players to stop throwing their nasty underarmour clothing at each other for 5 seconds so you can all finish your damn gatorade and HYDRATE, evgeni, you think kidney stones are a joke, do you? or just giving someone the Teacher Look when they’re being a bit too sassy or just casually slotting in to help Dana in the equipment room.
dealing with the media? easy as pie - they’ve got nothing on private school parents who don’t understand why little johnny isn’t in the top class, he just needs to be challenged and extended, don’t you understand that’s why he doesn’t do anything in class, because he’s bored, he’s actually VERY capable! (sidney was shell shocked with a fear boner the first time he hears the tail end of your phone convo to a parent - “unfortunately mr x, i have yet to see any evidence of this, so our decision stands. Have a good day now :)”
the whole hockey schedule? oh lord, reader is a professional at timetable management, don’t you even worry. She’s an excellent coordinator (yes, a shared and colour coded google calendar for her and sidney’s relationship) she understands how both their schedules can be insane, but most importantly understands the importance of work-life balance and setting boundaries for yourself! she helps pull sidney out of his head, reminding him that it’s just as important to take care of himself if he wants to keep taking care of others. she reminds him that it’s okay to be a little bit selfish, and really, that it’s not actually selfish at all to admit to another person how tired and frustrated you are, or to talk about things from years past that you thought you’d gotten over, but no, really, you just buried it for the sake of your team and career.
the whole public persona/reputation vs privacy thing? she totally gets it and understands sidney’s need first privacy. hell, that’s why she so fucking tech savvy - she knows ALL the tips and tricks to keep her socials locked away from prying student and parent eyes. It sparks this sense of safety and security in sidney? like he knows for sure that his privacy is protected, and that he trusts reader so much not to accidentally or not take advantage of his fame and fortune?
uhhhh anyway sidney being in shock-scared-and-horny-awe at your absolute confidence, breadth of knowledge, and commanding yet calm presence despite your age and (comparatively) tiny size. sidney discovers he has a competency kink when you accidentally use your teacher voice on him bc he keeps trying to distract you with kisses and cuddles while ur trying to finish off some marking. like, you stare at him over the top of your glasses and go “sidney crosby, you’ve got two choices right now - you can sit down on the couch in silence and wait literally 10 minutes, or, if you want to continue as you are, one of us is going to sleep in the guest room tonight, so let’s make good choices now, eh?”
he sheepishly goes to the couch and waits for you to sit in his lap after u’re done so you can pepper his shy lil face with kisses, calling him a “ridiculous boy” with such fondness in ur voice it makes him giggle
omg stop i LOVE THIS!!!!!!!

Some pet tips from your local cryptid.
1.) If you're getting a new cat or dog, get them allergy tested. It might cost more, but it'll save you in the long run if you know, "Hey, little man can't have chicken." (My friend's dog can't have poultry, even chicken fat can make him sick, so finding foods without it is important.)
Taking the initiative and understanding how to best work around your pets allergens will help them live a happier, healthier life
2.) If you're looking to switch up your pet's food, give a small amount of the new food as a treat to make sure it won't upset your pet's stomach.
Some smaller pet stores will carry sample sizes of dog or cat food to allow people to test whether or not it's the right fit for their animal, but I'm not sure about places like Pet Smart or PetCo.
3.) Get a designated scoop for your pet's dry food so you can portion it correctly. Some foods are very rich and, especially with cats, giving them too much can lead to urinary/kidney issues which can, unfortunately, be fatal if left untreated.
4.) If you live in areas that get snow, try and find alternative snow melts for your driveways/sidewalks that are pet safe and do not allow your pets to lick their paws if they've been walking through salt.
It's generally just a good idea to wipe your pet's paws when they come in from a walk to clean off any outside dirt/germs and to make sure they don't have anything stuck on the pad or between their toes.
4.) On the topic of pets' paws, it's important to test the pavement before going for walks on hot days, because if you wouldn't put your bare feet on the ground, think of how your dog's paws must feel.
And lastly;
5.) If you get a pet as a baby, understand that that means committing to taking care of it when it's no longer "small and cute".
As someone who has had to foster a couple animals, such as ducks, in the past, the leading cause of animal abandonment seems to be people getting bored of their animals when they are no longer manageable for them to take care of.
Which, okay, we see this a lot with chickens, yeah? You raise 'em until they're big and then you return them to the farm. That's different than just out and out leaving them to fend for themselves.
Domesticated/livestock animals cannot typically survive in the wild.

Hi friends, little update on the kitty.
She got to go to the vet today. She got a Solensia shot for her arthritis, and we're already seeing it make a difference!
She might have kidney problems or diabetes, but we're going to have to wait on blood tests to come back to know.
This visit was a little bit more expensive than I was hoping it was, but it's worth it for knowing that she's going to continue her old age being as healthy as I can make her.
Look at her little face. Look at it. Also, both her ears are black, but her right one has a little orange tip. It looks like a candle flame.
Anyway, vet visit was $770. Maybe not the most expensive "free" cat ever, but she's up there. Anything donated to the campaign goes right into paying that off, so I appreciate anything.
Also, her little spots on her shoulders reminds me of my old cat Maggie, who I got in like 2004 and who lived to be 14 years old. It's funny to me that we get Carhartt in our lives at the same age Maggie left it.
The other cats we have are Pants and Socks so we decided to name Carhartt after some clothing, too. (Teensy Buttons is arguably also named after a part of clothing)
Anyway, I knew that caring for a senior cat can be expensive, and that's part of why I took her, because I didn't think the guy giving away a 14-year-old cat on Christmas Eve was ready to take financial care of a senior cat. I can take care of her, but if anyone wants to help with this kind of sudden vet bill in the exact same month that all my other expenses happened, Carhartt and I will appreciate it.
The highest contributor to her care will still get to pick her name, but since I think that'll probably be me, second-highest gets to pick a middle name.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and everyone who just wanted to read about how much I like my cat.

Hey, you. Yes, you. When was the last time you remembered to go pee? Now do me a favor on your way to the bathroom and stand on the very tips of your toes if you can, and then drop down with your full weight onto your heels.
Did it suddenly hurt somewhere in your back/abdomen on one or both sides? Congratulations! You may have a kidney infection! Get to urgent care/the ER ASAP because you need antibiotics before the infection spreads! It probably started out as a UTI or bladder infection you didn’t notice or that didn’t respond to medication the first time - superbugs are real, y’all.
No shame. Asymptomatic UTIs and bladder infections are surprisingly common and sometimes manifest with as little as an increased or decreased need to go to the bathroom. Some people get very ill with them because they have sensitivities to things like bath soap and are used to ignoring urinary pain. It happens all the time, is a major contributor to hospital/doctor bills, can be deadly, and about 40% of all AFAB people are destined to get a urinary infection of some kind in their lifetime. They’re less common in AMAB people (about 12% likelihood), but just as hazardous if left untreated. An untreated urinary infection can lead to Urosepsis, which isn’t nearly as fun as Eurovision. Urosepsis has a 30%-40% mortality rate.
For those interested, here’s how and why your piss pipes can turn dangerous:
Kidney infections can be, and sometimes are, lethal. That UTI you had that resolved without antibiotics? Well, you got lucky, assuming you’re sure the initial infection cleared up on its own. Most kidney infections start out as urinary tract infections. It’s most usually caused by E. Coli, which is present on most surfaces, including other people’s skin. E. Coli is usually harmless unless it manages to infect, and if you notice that you get UTIs whenever you’re sexually active, a very common cause is a sensitivity to the bacteria natural to your partner’s body; you can reduce your chances of an infection by washing before sex and making sure you go pee as soon as you’re done to literally rinse out your urethra. Condoms and dental dams can also help depending upon your body chemistry, but not always. Properly using a bidet (they come in portable travel-size models now for like, $30, Americans) can also drastically help reduce your risk of an infection.
The problem is that the renal (pee) system is all connected by tubes and hoses that can be very easy for bacteria to climb. Here’s a very generic, non-gendered diagram:
(source)
Regardless of what you’ve got from a reproductive standpoint, that’s pretty much it! Same wiring and everything, save for that people who are AFAB aren’t typically born with prostates, which isn’t part of the renal system at all. People with short urethras (AFAB people, intersex, endocrine syndrome, etc) contract UTIS and bladder infections. AFAB or AFAB-similar people have a 40% likelihood of contracting a common UTI at least once in their lives. AMAB people only have about a 12% chance. The difference is so drastic because said AMAB people have pretty average external genitalia and therefore a much longer urethra than average for bacteria to try to survive colonizing. Drinking water and going to the bathroom regularly are highly effective at preventing a renal infection, because the bacteria literally has to climb its way from the urethra to the kidneys. Urinating helps to wash it out. Depending upon your immune system, it can take days or even weeks before the bacteria reaches your kidneys if that’s what’s going to happen.
Not only are kidney infections incredibly painful (There Will Be Blood), but those yellow nodules on top of the kidneys in that diagram I posted up there? Those are your adrenal glands. Where all of your adrenaline comes from. Those major veins and arteries also can give the bacteria unmitigated access to the bloodstream, which generally leads to sepsis, shock, and death. If your adrenal glands are infected, it can cause them to release dangerous amounts of adrenaline that can stress, damage, and even cause the heart to stop.
And no, cranberry juice and cranberry supplements will not cure you. If you have a full-blown infection, go to the doctor. You need a full course of antibiotics at the very least and probably urinary painkillers. AZO makes an over-the-counter brand in the US. It is non-addictive, temporarily stops the pain, but dyes your pee an electric orange color that will stain your underwear (fun fact: if you’re a swimmer or diver you can get a prescription for a version that turns your pee blue instead so nobody can see you pee in the water; my mom used it when she was a SCUBA diver). AZO is also responsible for making UTI home-test kits that you can buy on Amazon. The renal benefits of cranberries is largely a myth. The compound, which is good for a lot of other uses, is called D-Mannose, which kinda-sorta maybe can make it harder for bacteria to stick to the walls of your renal system and more easily flush out when you pee, but you do not want to play chicken with septic shock. It will kick your ass and you will die. If you’re experiencing urinary pain and/or a fever, get to the doctor.
#health psa#kidney infection#uti#renal infection#bladder infection#in summation: go to the doctor#cranberries do not help
