((Hey, mun here! This was a very long project with lots of work and love put into it so I just wanted to say I hope it was worth the wait and you enjoyed the read! Give Sweden a big hand too for learning to sing a whole song in Finnish just to make his future husband ugly cry!
I've had this headcanon for years now that Sweden would propose to Finland in this very cheesy way, learning to play and sing him Tuu mun vaimoksein (Please be my wife), a bit of a classic which should be known to about every Finnish person who attended a confirmation camp in their youth after like, the 80's. Of course in this instance wife is changed to husband. (And yes I interpret that wife gag as just that - a joke they're both in on - and this is a serious heartfelt thing here!)
I left out the middle two verses because a wall of text just wouldn't have made for a very exciting comic but just assume that Sweden sang the whole song!

texting with the nordics
type | light hearted , fluff , platonic , short read
Tumblr media Tumblr media
denmark/matthias køhler ♡
random and hyper 3am texts
is the type to screenshot funny messages from a groupchat and post them to social media
definitely sends people brainrot humor ig reels ironically
also sends super up close pics of himself out of nowhere to strike up a conversation
his most used emojis are: 😁 😳 😜 👀 🤸‍♂️
norway/lukas bondevik ♡
he double texts but like not
as in he'll type two different things but space them out using the enter button
so it ends up being one text
it's on purpose too (he's weird i love him)
likes to send pictures of his meals
alot of one word replies ("mhm" , "sure" , "k")
the type to like a message to signify the end of a convo
sweden/björn oxenstierna ♡
sends gifs to react to messages
doesn't use any other abbreviations unless it's like, 'LOL'
most used emoji: 👍
doesn't use his phone that much
only really texts anybody if it's a holiday
iceland/emil steilsson ♡
his phone is almost always on 'do not disturb'
unlike sve, he mostly uses abbreviations
types in all lowercase letters (autocorrect is his worst enemy so he had to turn it off)
if someone asks what he's doing, he'll send a picture of his surroundings accompanied by a simple "just here" text.
will be constantly checking his phone and reply immediately if a person he really likes is chatting with him
finland/timo väinämöinen ♡
when he's comfortable enough with the person he's talking to, he'll start to send voice messages
gives random updates about his day via text
prefers calls tbh
sends a bunch of pics of hanatamago
the type to text someone "good luck!" , "have a good time ❤️" , "hope it goes well!!" and other words of encouragement when they have to do something/go somewhere

Hetalia Human Names
NOTE: This is my personal interpretation and the names may diverge from canon and established fanon. Also I might update this every so often to make it more accurate, depending on the information I find.
Table of Contents
The Main Characters
Western Europe
Northern Europe
Eastern Europe
Southern Europe
Western Asia
South Asia
East Asia
Southeast Asia
Oceania
Micronations
Former nations
The Main Characters
Italy Veneziano: Feliciano Vergano
I chose the name Vergano instead as it keeps the essense of the original surname, but is actually Italian.
Italy Romano: Lovino Vergano
Germany: Ludwig Beilschmidt
Japan: Kiku Honda
Prussia: Gilbert Beilschmidt
America: Alfred Franklin Jones
I like the headcanon of his middle name being "Freedom", but Franklin is my personal favourite.
England: Arthur James Kirkland
I came across this in a fic a while back and never looked back. This man needs a middle name.
France: Francis Bonnefoy
Russia: Ivan Braginsky
China: Yao Wang
Canada: Matthew Williams
Western Europe
Austria: Roderich Edelstein
Belgium: Laura Janssens
Liechtenstein: Erika Vogel
Luxembourg: Henri Janssens
I've also used the name Gabriel before, but it doesn't seem to be used much in Luxembourg, so Henri would be more fitting.
Monaco: Louise Bonnefoy
The name Louise and it's masculine variant, Louis, appear a few times in the Monaguesque royal family.
Netherlands: Willem Janssens
Willem appears a few times in the Dutch royal family, and it sounds a bit older than other suggested names, which reflects his age and general vibes imo. I really like this name.
Switzerland: Sebastian Zwingli
Personally I see his name "Basch" as a nickname for Sebastian. It's also easy to adapt to his official languages: Sebastian/Sébastién/Sebastiano. The Romansh variant would be Bistgaun, but the archaic version seems to be Bastgaun, which is more similar to Basch. I headcanon that he goes by the name "Basch" in all languages to make it more cohesive.
Northern Europe
Denmark: Mathias Rasmussen
I'm from Scandinavia myself and I don't know if it's widespread, but I've heard people say "all Danish people are named Rasmus" more than once, so I like to incorporate that into his surname.
Estonia: Eduard Kaasik
Around 50% of Estonia is covered in forest, and one of the most common tree types is birch. Kaasik is a common surname and means "birch forest".
Finland: Timo Väinämöinen
Iceland: Eiríkur Steinsson
Steinsson means "son of Stein (given name meaning stone)",. Also Emil isn't traditionally Icelandic, but it's widely used. Personally though, I prefer the name Eiríkur.
Latvia: Raivis Bērziņš
The surname Galante corresponds with the modern Latvian opera singer Inese Galante, but I couldn't find anything to suggest it's commonly used or that it's Latvian at all. Bērziņš is one of the most used Latvian surnames and means "birch tree", like Estonia's surname. Personally, I don't see the Baltics as siblings, but I think this would be a cute reference.
Also, based on what I read, surnames became common in Latvia around the 19th century, with Bērziņš being one of them. Latvia could have picked up whatever the people around him (Estonia) was using and made it his own.
Lithuania: Tolys Laurinaitis
Norway: Sigurd Bondevik
Sweden: Berwald Oxenstierna
Eastern Europe
Belarus: Natalya Arlovskaya
Bulgaria: Mihail Petrov Isporov
Isporov is the family name and is derived from an alternative name of Asparukh, the first king of the First Bulgarian Empire.
Czech: Tereza Novakova
Hungary: Erzsébet Héderváry
Moldova: Marcel Popescu
Poland: Feliks Łukasiewicz
Romania: Vladislav Popescu
Slovakia: Jozef Novak
Ukraine: Iryna Chernenko
Southern Europe
Greece: Herakles Karpusi
Portugal: João Silva Ferreira
Spain: Antonio Fernandez Carriedo
Western Asia
Cyprus: Stasinos Karpusi
Stasinos was one of the first European poets who wrote the epic poem Cypria.
Turkey: Sadiq Adnan
TRNC: Tarkan Adnan
South Asia
India: Rajesh Thakur
East Asia
Hong Kong: Leon Wang / Wong Kulung
Macau: Chen Wang
South Korea: Im Yong-soo
Taiwan: Mei Lin
Southeast Asia
Thailand: Prasert Chakri
Vietnam: Lien Nguyen
Africa
Cameroon: Emmanuel Mawdo Ahidjo
Many of the most commonly used forenames in Cameroon are of French or English origins, such as Emmanuel.
Mawdo means ‘elder’ in Fulfulde.
Ahidjo refers to the first president of Cameroon.
Egypt: Gupta Muhammad Hassan
Seychelles: Michelle Mancham
Americas
Cuba: Carlos Machado Rodríguez
Oceania
Australia: Daniel Kirkland
New Zealand: Zachary Kirkland
Micronations
Hutt River: Christopher Kirkland
Kugelmugel: Leopold Edelstein
Ladonia: Erland Oxenstierna
Molossia: Jacob Jones
"JJ" :)
Sealand: Peter Kirkland
Seborga: Romeo Vergano
Okay listen. I have no explaination, I just really like this name. Also, if the names of the trio is Peter, Wendy, and Romeo, they're all named after characters from literature. I think that's fun.
Wy: Wendy Kirkland
Former Nations
Ancient Egypt: Neferure
References the only biological child of Hatshepsut.
Ancient Greece: Helene
Ancient Rome: Marcus Valerius Maximus
Marcus is the praenomina (given name) and refers to how Romulus and Remus were said to have been twins of Mars, the god.
Valerius is the nomen gentilicium (hereditary name) and means “to be strong”.
Maximus is the cognomen and means “the greatest”.
Germania: Alaric
Holy Roman Empire: Otto Beilschmidt
Personally I like the idea that HRE and Germany aren't the same person, but share the same body.

nobody asked for it, so here's an outline of Hetalia Vikverse
this is a massive wip btw LOL
Greece 🇬🇷 /Heracles Konstantinos Karpusi: Beyond the Aegean [basileousa, Flight of the Dove, Boiling Aegean, The Tower, We the Unwanted, He who Defies the Kings, The Flower of Evil, rebirth]
Heracles' life, starting from his rise as the Eastern Roman Empire, to his fall in 1453, to the War of Independence, the Balkan Wars, World War 2, the Military Junta and the recovery. Focused mainly on Heracles' relationships with his fellow Balkan nations, Armenia, Georgia, Egypt, Western Europe, and his extremely complicated relationship with Turkey.
Serbia 🇷🇸 /Miroslav Nikolić: Crown of the Eagle [Kingdom of the Wolf, Fallen Crown, Forest of Flags, Yell of the Hajduks, The Tower, Hostibus Ante Portas, The Parade of Death, Vukovi Umiru Sami]
Drawing mostly from the moment of the arrival of the Serbs in the Balkans, to Miroslav's rise as an independent Kingdom, his own struggles for independence, the Balkan Wars (to which he's the main POV character), World War 1, and the end of Yugoslavia. Focuses a lot of Miroslav's relationship with his brother Montenegro, a crucial character. Also a lot of importance placed in his relationship with other Balkan nations (especially Bulgaria, Romania and Greece), Hungary, Austria, Russia and France.
Bulgaria 🇧🇬 /Dimitar Simeonov Kamenov: The Rose-Hearted [Rust, Foretold Was He, The Lions in Rhodope, The Rose Merchant, Flowers of the Future, Ghosts, Wilted Kings, Grave by the Mountain]
From the birth of the Bulgarian nation, to the Second Bulgarian Empire, to the scars born by the Ottoman Empire and the Independence, to the Balkan Wars, the World Wars and the Soviet Union, Dimitar suffered a lot in his long history. Massive focus on Dimitar's relationship with Romania, whose story is closely intertwined to Dimitar's. Also focus on the historic and bloodied Greece-Bulgaria rivalry, the past tensions with Turkey, and the sibling relationship with North Macedonia. [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
Poland 🇵🇱 /Stanislawa Jankowska: Dance of the Phoenix [Red-Ribboned Daughter, Pale Little Firebird, Rise of the Empress, Nie Płacz O Mnie, Crown for the Dead Queen, From the Ashes, The Phoenix and the World, A Final Resurrection]
[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] The many historic rises and falls of Poland. Special focus on the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, relationships with Hungary and Ukraine, Winged Hussars, the historic Resistance in WW2 (being one of, if not the largest in Europe), the tough Soviet times.
Finland 🇫🇮 /Timo Väinämöinen: Song of the Rivers [The Boy on the River, Lords of the Seas, The Name of the Crown, So Cold, Bear Song, 47 Days, The Mercenary, Endless]
[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] Timo, born as Poika (or at least, what he named himself initially), and his life in the North. Special focus on his relationship with Sweden, Estonia and Russia, clashes of the Swedish Kingdom with Denmark, the clashes with Russia, the Finnish Civil War, the World Wars and modern times.
The Italian sisters 🇮🇹 / Catherine and Elvira Mancini: Sisters of the Sun [Where the Moon Won't Shine]
[UNDER HEAVY CONSTRUCTION LOL]

The other day my sister and I discussed Hetalia characters if they were in the Riordanverse. They would have to be not-countries.
Japan /Honda Kiku is the son of Hephestaus.
Prussia / Gilbert Beilschmidt is son of Ares or Tyr
England / Arthur Kirkland son of Hecate
Scandinavia trio are descendants of Norse gods. My sister and I immediately forgot who would be the godly parents the day after discussion.
Finland/ Timo likes to introduce himself as Timo Väinämöinen, son of Väinämöinen. Only to get interrupted by his friends, "Stop telling everyone you're named after your dad!!" or somethig idk. but that's not actually his last name (in this universe). Idk if he really is the son of Väinämöinen in this universe. it be more funny if he actually wasn't and that's why his friends get so frustrated.
Riordan doesnt really write demigods of the Egyptians gods, but it would be neat if Egypt/ Muhammad Hassan (insert last name) was a descendant of one of the Egyptian deities. We discussed other characters and their godly parent, but forgot the next day.
Greece/ Herakles. Son of Hera. Hear me out!! He arrives to Camp Half-Blood, and is placed in the Hermes camp due to his "unknown" lineage. He wasn't claimed immediately, but it left bunch campers wondering and thinking. who? why? (some campers wanted to give him a nickname to avoid confusion with the great hero Herakles/ Hercules. This Herakles suggested Karpouzi because watermelons are his favorite fruits. it doesn't spread well, but there are many jokes. "Herakles Karpussy cat" Some believed that he's the son of Zeus. Until Hera arrived in the camp to loudly and publicly claim him. How is this possible? Isn't she married and faithful? isn't she picky about her family? Never is there a demigod of Hera?
"I made him from clay and brought him to life. He is solely my son, not Zeus's. Look at him. He is perfect."
This poor Greek boy will grow up hearing lots of comments from her: "Where is Herakles? the good heracles, not the other one. "My heracles. the good one. "the perfect one. mine. "I made him myself, and got blessings from the other gods and goddesses. he is perfect. he id never wrong,"
Very much the emobodiment of that tiktok meme "f u, my child is completely fine."
he's gonna grow up with trauma

Sure thing! I can summarize my names for the Hetalia Nordics with going:
1p / Nation / Nyo Sigurd "Sigge" Týr N. / 🌎 Norway / Sigrid. Mattias Leif Ulrik N. / 🌎 Denmark / Liv, (Which also means Life).
Björn Nils Eirik N. / 🌎 Sweden / Svea or Hilda. Peter Emrys Cahal Kirkland / 🌎 Sealand / Jane. Karl Mattias Axel N. / 🌎 Ladonia / Ronja.
Emil Tor Magnus N. / 🌎 Iceland / Eyja. Timo Väinämöinen / 🌎 Finland / Tuuli. Hanatamago (Väinämöinen) / 🐶 Finland's dog / -
[The rest is below 'Read More' to avoid clutter, because this is getting long].
.
Quick Notes:
Nor/Den/Swe/Ice: Their middle names HCs is mainly for human AUs where I gotta let their parents strike the fear of God into them by getting full-named whenever they have messed up badly. 😂 You can ignore middle names in nation-verse/AUs.
.
Nor/Den/Swe/Ice's family name: I use Nilssen or Nordir depending on if they're half-siblings or full-blood siblings in the story. Nilssen basically means "son of Nils" and is a common name no one in the Nordics would bat an eye at. Meanwhile Nordir is a family name I made up specifically for Nor/Den/Swe/Ice, and is short for Nordbródir, meaning "Northern Brother".
.
Norway: "Sigge" is a pretty Swedish nickname (and its' own name), so this would likely mainly (but not exclusively) be Sweden's "human" nickname for Norway. And if you don't see any of the Nordics as siblings you can use the family names Nordvik or Ødegård for Norway.
.
Denmark: I use the more Scandinavian spelling Mattias instead of Matthias/Mathias, but some prefer to simply name him Magnus instead. And if you don't see the Nordics as siblings then other family names which work for Denmark are Jensen, Andersen and Fredriksen - all which basically mean "Son of [Name]".
.
Sweden: Björn is also Swedish for "bear", a nice and fitting bonus. If you don't see any of the Nordics as siblings then the family names Svensson, Eriksson/Eiriksson "Son of [Name]" or Lindgren "Linden branch" work as well. If you want to be extra funny though, let it be Svensson. See my other posts about Sweden's names for the reason. 😂 . Anyway, if you enjoy SuFin I also encourage you to give Sweden the family name you choose for Finland rather than the other way around.
.
Sealand: I refuse to completely take him away from England, and thus he's still a Kirkland. I enjoy papa Sweden HCs and stories, but I shall never forgive the fandom for making people believe Sealand and England hate each other. Their relationship is a bit messy at times, but holy smokes we have so much canon stuff about how much they care about each other. Hence shared custody, "divorced parents on friendly terms"-style, despite England and Sweden not actually being married or divorced.
.
Ladonia: Not much to comment, except I recommend you give him the same family name as Sweden. If you want to be extra funny though, let it be Svensson. See my other posts about Sweden's names for the reason. 😂
.
Iceland: Emil is a little more modern, so he might have had another one in the past, but I just really love the name. At the other hand the Icelandic laws for family names are a headache if you don't already have some experience with how Scandinavian family names work/used to work. So for your own sake just give him the family name Nilssen or Nilsson, make sure his dad is named Nils in a human AU, and don't look back. Save yourself. Run. x') (Okay, admittedly I'm being a bit dramatic, but they still take liking the "son of-" and "daughter of-" names to a new level and their laws might be a bit confusing if you don't already know some Nordic history about family names. A good read if you're up for some research, but not everyone would be).
.
Finland: Timo is basically the corrected Finnish version of canon Tino. I still use Väinämöinen for his family name, and while it technically still works as a family name it's not 100% correct either. However, I simply didn't have the heart to take away his really cool name after a Finnish demi-god. Besides, naming himself after a demi-god is absolutely something I can see (hws) Finland doing anyway. 💖 x)
.
To end of this already long post I'd like to finish with telling you that I've discussed the Nordics' (and particularly Sweden's) names with more details in a few past posts, so if you'd like to look up the posts I recommend you check out my tags "hws [your chosen character]", "hws Names" and "hws Headcanons" on my Tumblr. I'm usually good at tagging my posts, so it should be fairly easy to find them.
I didn't get to talk about celebrations in this already long post, but they have a lot of fun going on in May-June with all the birthdays and Midsummer if you want to look up more of that.
Hope this was useful for you and feel free to ask for more if you want to!
A friend pointed me in your direction since you (according to them) seem to be looking for fitting Swedish and/or other Nordics' names for the Hetalia Nordics, but I can't find any post from you asking for names, so, uh... Hello, I'm Jezzica and a Swedish person (and Hetalia fan), and I guess I wanted to ask if you wanted suggestions on Swedish and/or Nordic names?
Hello, Jezzica! I'm Ann. Yes, I wanted Proper Nordic names because I haven't been able to find any and I know better than to trust Google for something like this. I've already gotten some for Norway and Iceland and I liked those a lot, but I haven't found any for the others. I also wanted some cultural insight. Any exclusively Nordic celebrations? Signature dishes? Anything like that is wonderful.
Thank you so much for reaching out! Give your friend my thanks.

hws finland headcanons
Tumblr media
his real name is timotheus, but he hates that name, so he always goes by timo. denmark and sweden often call him “tims” (pronounced like teams) or “ti” for short.
he’s an esfj and a 2w1.
most of his favorite outfits involve christmas, the moomins, or finnish metal. bonus if it’s a combination of two or more of those!
in general, he’s kind of a fashion disaster. he’s the type of person to wear socks with sandals or wear his shirt backwards and inside out and not give a crap.
he can speak finnish, swedish, english, and estonian fluently. he used to be fluent in russian as well, but since he hasn’t needed to use it for a while, he’s forgotten bits and pieces. he’s still pretty good, though; he can still carry a conversation in russian if he has to.
he’s very artistic, and he loves to draw, paint, and knit. the other nordics have encouraged him to sell his creations online, but he prefers to create things for himself and for others as gifts.
he works part time at moomin world in naantali, and he loves visiting any moomin-related store. he has WAY too much merch.
he likes pretty much all genres of music, but christmas and metal are where it’s at for him. when he discovered that metal covers of christmas songs were a thing… let’s just say that was what the nordics had to listen to whenever he was driving for about a year.
speaking of driving, he always stops to let animals cross the road. sometimes, quite suddenly.
with regards to sufin, he’s definitely the one with more romantic experience out of the two of them. in fact, before he and sweden became an item, he was sweden’s go-to for advice on getting someone to like him without being awkward. little did he know, due to his obliviousness, that sweden was trying to woo him, but sooner or later, he figured it out and was thrilled.
he’s the shortest of the nordics, clocking in at 5’5/165 cm. it wasn’t always this way; for a while, iceland was the shortest, but he’s long since grown taller than him. finland cried when he did, partly from the fact that iceland was growing up and partly from disappointment that iceland was no longer the shortest of the group.
he’s type 1 diabetic. he’s had it for a while, and he’s very open about it, but he hates it when people try to micromanage him because of it or freak out when he eats something high in sugar/carbs. the nordics respect this, and they only interfere if he asks for their help or if it’s an emergency.
like sweden, he loves home-improvement projects, and he and sweden often work on them together. that cabin where they were in that one episode? built from scratch by the two of them.
he can play the piano, the guitar, and the kantele.
even though he’s extroverted and loves being around people, he also greatly values his alone time. during this time, he likes to read, knit, play an instrument, and bake.
like norway, he can use magic, but he really only uses it around christmas when he’s being santa.
he gains both fat and muscle quite easily. he’s similar to a bear in this way; sure, he looks soft and cuddly, but he can do real damage if he’s provoked enough.
he absolutely SPOILS kukkamuna. he always gets her the best quality food and toys, and on her birthday, he makes her a cake made from dog treats and takes her to a high-end dog salon to get a bath and a haircut. he also has an instagram page dedicated to her.
he’s extremely competitive when it comes to games and sports, especially with the olympics, literally any winter sports events between the nordics, and video games like mario kart.
his handwriting is very big and loopy. it’s legible, but it sometimes does take some effort to decipher, especially if he wrote when he was tired or in a hurry.
he’s amazing at math. sure, it does take him some effort to understand certain concepts, but in general, he gets it pretty quickly, and the younger nations often go to him for homework help.
anyways, i hope you enjoyed these, and i’ll likely make a part 2 for him, along with headcanon posts for the rest of the nordics!

Human Nordics
I’m in a Nordic mood so I was thinking about what their family lives/relations might be like in a Human AU. To start this off I should say I normally headcanon their names to be Lukas Steilsson (* - read note. - Nor), Mathias Køhler (Den), Björn Oxenstierna (Swe), Emil Steilsson (Ice), Timo Väinämöinen (Fin), Karl Oxenstierna (Ladonia) and Peter Kirkland (Sealand).
( * - “But wait, isn’t Norway’s surname Bondevik?” - It was one of Norway’s suggested surnames by Himaruya many years ago, and for a long time it was also the most popular to use. However, since the surname has bad political connections in Norway, it was generally decided by the older fandom (myself included) to use one of the other suggested surnames instead. I chose to go with Steilsson. It’s one of the surnames Himaruya chose for Iceland, and while the name is not strictly an Icelandic name the “-sson” surnames are very common in the Scandinavian countries. Letting Norway and Iceland share the surname Steilsson also felt like a nice reference to them being brothers.) -
Tumblr media
Honestly? While their names work well in nation-verse their surnames don’t fit as well in a Human AU - especially since I also hc Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland to be siblings and would like them to have the same surname (or at least not 3-4 different ones). Thus I would likely give them all the surname Steilsson, since it’s a more neutral Scandinavian surname than ‘Køhler’ or ‘Oxenstierna’, while Fin/Timo would keep Väinämöinen and is a close childhood friend who at some point got un-officially adopted into the family.
If we also go with the route of a future SuFin-marriage I honestly think Swe/Björn would be more likely to take Fin/Timo’s surname than the other way around (and tbh Björn Väinämöinen has a nice ring to it), but if you’re not a fan of the ship you can skip this part.
As for jobs I think:
- Lukas likely works the stock market and is crazy good at it. Almost filthy rich. Also helps Mathias out part-time with administrative work to make sure the paperwork is filled in correctly. I can also see Lukas being a current or former skiing master on professional level.
- Mathias would be perfect as an electrician with his own company. Lukas helps him with some of the administrative work part time to make sure the paperwork is done correctly (which my headcanoned Mathias’ ADHD likely makes it harder to focus on), but Mathias does a great job with his company and earns a decent amount of money.
- Björn is absolutely a kindergarten/pre-school teacher. The pay isn’t great, but he loves kids and they love him. Peter would be one of the 1-6 year old kids in his class. (Peter would live with his single guardian, either brother or dad, Eng/Arthur.) Haven’t decided if Karl should be the Nordics’ youngest sibling or Björn’s son, but either way Björn has custody of the lil’ sassy child and Karl grows up with Björn as his father-figure, no matter their biological ties.
- Ice/Emil is the one I see as still being in school, likely being a teenager around 14-16 years old. In canon nation-verse Denmark raised him, and while I think it would be more of a full sibling effort in this human AU before they began to move out, Emil likely still live with Mathias here. Lukas may or may not (still) live with them as well, but if he’s skiing on a professional level he would have to travel around a lot for competitions and training, so it would make more sense to let Emil live with Mathias to make sure he gets to live a stable life.
- Fin/Timo was the most difficult to decide on for me. I can see him being former military, but afterwards... I’m not so sure. Possibly driving the snowmobiles and shoveling snow during the snow seasons, or perhaps being some kind of social worker. Tbh I’m not sure, so I’ll have to think more about this one. (Suggestions are welcome below, if you have any.) .
v [This is getting long, so I’m placing the rest below ‘Keep Reading’.] v
I imagine the Nordics’ parents died fairly young, so for the most part the siblings had to raise themselves with Lukas, Mathias and Björn being forced to take on more parental role for Emil and Karl. They probably met Timo while in foster care system and/or at an orphanage and grew up really close together and love each other very much. However, in early adult age (18-24 years old?) Björn eventually wanted to move out (to “test his wings”?) from their then shared apartment and ended up in a pretty bad fight with Mathias over it, who wanted them all to stay/live together. - “We have always stayed together - why change it now!?” - It took a long time for them to patch up their relationship after their fight, something which I imagine affected the whole family.
Björn and Timo might have been roomates for a while during the fight, before Timo left for the military, but further into adult age all the Nordics lived separately. (With the exception of Emil and Karl then, being kids).
[The SuFin-part of me imagine Björn and Timo took a long time to actually become a couple, but they eventually move in together again when they’re both around... say 30-35 years old? As briefly mentioned earlier I also think it’s more likely Björn took Timo’s surname if/when they get married, making them Timo and Björn Väinämöinen, with Karl then being allowed to choose if he also wants to change his surname. ]
Purely on a platonic level I imagine Timo on Lukas to likely be the closest to each other, sharing a lot of interests and the need to dote on Emil. (Who may or may not secretly enjoy it, but is also a teenager who finds being shown affection in front of his friends 100% embarrassing). x)
Lukas’ and Mathias’ relationship took a lesser hit because of their own fight when Lukas also moved out (or started to travel more as a skier?), but at that point Emil had had enough and exploded on them both. Told them off for being stupid. That patch up went quickly/quicker, and was also what made Mathias realize that his ongoing fight with Björn was kind of stupid too, and not worth it. Though it helped that Emil also exploded on both Mathias and Björn over how stupid the two of them were being. (Emil was tired of the fights, and sometimes an explosion of anger from the affected third party is what’s needed to realize how stupid the fight actually is.) .
In present time all of them are close siblings and friends again (and possibly also a couple in SuFin-case?) , and I imagine their relationship to be much stronger now than even before the fight.

Björn, Timo, and the kids drove out to the countryside to get a better look at the stars. They enjoyed the solitude and the lack of light pollution as they stargazed, and when they got home, they researched some of the stars, planets, and constellations that they saw.

denmark/matthias køhler ♡
firstly, he would pick up the book to see what she was reading and what chapter she was on. just simply out of curiosity, really
he picks up her glasses and sets them on a table close by
does all of this quietly because he doesn't want her to wake up
removes his coat because it's been rained on and it was cold to the touch.
he carefully sits down next to her, lifting the blanket and sliding it over his body too
he gets cozy right next to her, and it doesn't take him long to fall asleep either.
norway/lukas bondevik ♡
he sees her like this, and he is just looking upon her sleeping figure with a warm heart
he finds it endearing because sometimes he also falls asleep easily, especially when the rain is coming down or whilst there is snow is falling outside.
he doesn't disturb her, sitting away from her while he picks up a book of his own and starts to skim through it, his attention is mostly on her though.
in a while, he'll wake her up. 'she just looks so peaceful right now.' he thinks to himself
sweden/bjørn oxenstierna ♡
first thing he does is take off her glasses and searches for her glasses case
doesn't believe that the couch is a suitable place to nap so he carries her to the bedroom
he's doing it as quietly as he can to not wake her
he thinks she looks rather pretty while sleeping, so he lies down besides her to watch her sleep
he pulls the bed sheets over her and retrieves the same blanket she had on before. he's hoping she'll be comfier on the bed
iceland/emil steilsson ♡
he takes a pic of her. he'll tease her about it later , but he really is charmed with just how relaxed she looked on the couch
steals some of her blanket, placing it on his legs
he sits there on the couch with her in silence
he scrolls on his phone for a bit, relaxing and enjoying her company, even when she's asleep
finland/timo väinämöinen ♡
takes off her glasses, and places the book on the arm of the couch
he grabs a pillow and slowly brings her down on it so she can rest her head
the sound of the rain is coming down, it doesn't hit the roof too hard nor too light that he can't hear it. it's perfect <3
he sits on some furniture nearby and slowly begins to doze off as well. hanatamago is at his feet, curled up into a ball
