There was a teen in the cave.
A teen no one knows and looks like he could be a wayne, stands in the cave.
"Actually, I'm a wayne." He says with a shrug.
Bruce, Batman, carefully thinks of the implication.
"Not yet," The teen, Danny, doesn't say anything. Simple smiles. "You're not a wayne, yet. You will be. But not yet."
Then Bruce sighs, dropping the batman mask in order to take in the teen.
"Does future me know of the time travel?"
Dannys smile grows into a grin, deciding to take pity on the man. "You, grandbat, have..." He makes a vague gesture. "Theories, which none of your children ever confirmed."
The bat's mind short-circuits at the choice of words
Dick is sputtering incomprehensibly, there are Baffled expression all around.
Because.
Because that child isn't Bruce's, but one of theirs.
"Who is it?" Jason demands, hand clenching his gun uselessly.
Danny continues to smile, a hint of mischief now peeking out.
The cave is filled with theories, some yell, some sob, yet all eyes leave danny.
All but one pair.
She had known the moment his body language switched just enough for her to read.
She had known the moment he disappeared before the clan.
Had known when his hand found hers, shoulders bumping.
Her heart clenches, throat dry and memories of her childhood flooding to mind.
So she asks, voice soft and hesitant.
"Am I a good mother?"
And danny looks up at cass, adoration and pride laid out plain for her to see and accept.
"You're the best."
And so they both watch the clan together, silent and comfortable.
(Cass doesn't question when she finds him, how and why. All she knows is that she's more attentive when out on patrol, looking and waiting.)
(This is how Cassandra Cain-Wayne returns one night from patrol, a child, barely out of toddler stage and clinging to her form.)
(This is how the Batclan officially meets one Daniel James Cain-Wayne, freshly washed and clothed, a cookie in hand and hiding shyly behind Cass.)
(When they meet, all they say is "Welcome home, danny," and "Good to see you again.", Danny doesn't necessarily get it, but that's okay. Maybe his new mom will explain it one day when he's bigger.)

Bansui Main Verses
YOUR HEART IS DARKNESS (MAIN VERSE)
In the aftermath of the war against the Wandenreich, Bansui has continued to lead  the Kido Corps, but now must also contend with being the new head of his family’s noble house, after his brother’s death at the hands of the Sternritter Shaz Domino. Though Bansui is annoyed by the added responsibility, the added power and influence of his new position at the head of his family isn’t without its benefits, and he intends to use every bit of it to advance his goals toward achieving his dream of the Great Ascension. (Takes place Post-Blood War)
HERE COMES THE MADNESS (SECONDARY VERSE)
With the Kido Corps’ former leadership branded traitors and stripped of their rankings, Bansui has recently been appointed as the organizations Commander, and has begun to slowly piece the Kido Corps back together, and grow their power. Being appointed to such a high ranking and influential position has given Bansui the perfect opportunity to explore his dream of the Great Ascension, too, and already, he’s begun to proselytize his subordinates, but his promotion has also forced Bansui to interact more with the outside world, and in effect, it’s become harder for him to stay out of the Soul Society’s and the World of the Living’s affairs
(Takes place anywhere from just after Turn Back The Pendulum to the TYBW)
MAGIC BREATHES IN THE DARK (CROSSOVER VERSE)
Same premise as Bansui's main-verse, only with added cross-over shenanigans thrown into the mix. Bansui (and his other-self, Parca) wanders a little more in this verse, traveling from the Soul Society to other realms in his quest to bring his 'Great Ascension' into reality.
Bansui AU'S
SANCTUM OF ASH (AU - JUJUTSU KAISEN)
It is thought that for as long as Humans have walked the earth, their negative emotions have given birth to Curses, but there are some who believe differently. Throughout Humanity's long history and the history of Curses that have dwelt alongside it, there has existed a secretive cult that have sought to return both groups to their supposed 'primordial' states, to return the World as we know it to a supposed 'true' existence.
Dubbed 'The Illuminated' by those within its ranks, this collective's existence, while never confirmed to either Human or Jujutsu society, has been hinted at through the passing ages, with their hands having been behind, or involved in, some of the world's most important events, but little concrete evidence of The Illuminated has ever been found.
In general, be it within regular society or Jujutsu circles, The Illuminated are often seen as nothing more than a myth or conspiracy theory, but the terrifying truth is that they are indeed very, very real, and at the helm of this shadowy organization is the enigmatic Bansui, an ancient Curse User who long ago, in a freak accident, found themselves merged with a so called 'Primordial Curse'.
In the present day and age, Bansui more openly acts through two lesser organizations that he oversees. Firstly, there is 'The Radiant Abyss', a religious movement that has been steadily growing in the hearts and minds of people everywhere thanks to Bansui's preaching of a so called 'Great Ascension'. Then there is the organization known as 'Q', which Bansui recently revived after their destruction a few years prior-- like before, Q operates as a group of Curse Users seeking to overturn the Jujutsu world, and they often ply their services to other groups or causes that aim to do just that. Other times Q, under the direction of Bansui, will seek out and offer refuge to errant Curses as well. Bansui will sometimes act through Q himself but also at times under the guise of 'Parca', the curse that he merged with long ago.
Thanks to the series of incidents occurring within Japan in the present day, especially in the wake of the Shibuya Incident, Bansui can see his ultimate goal getting closer. Time will tell if Bansui and the Illuminated can make their long sought dream a reality, however.
[Extra JJK Info Here]
CRUEL DARKNESS ( AU - MODERN!FANTASY)
Bansui is an ancient being who heads a religious cult known as "The Illuminated", a shadowy cabal who has been hovering in the background of Human history since Humanity's inception itself. Bansui, and his groups aim is to return existence to its supposed primordial state, wherein true peace and equality for all can be achieved, but it has been a long process, and not one without its obstacles....
In the present day and age, Bansui publicly appears as the leader of a lesser organization, known as "The Radiant Abyss", an apparently new-age religious movement that is steadily growing its numbers in the hearts and minds of people everywhere, from the average joes, to politicians, to criminal elements.

One thing that I loved about season one, aside from seeing the next chapter of Picard's life, was that everyone who would end up in his orbit appeared to be...flawed/broken, not the very model of modern Starfleet officers.
In this instance, Raffi had been drummed out of Starfleet for expressing concern of a perceived conspiracy theory (that turned out to be true) leaving her estranged from her family and leading to substance abuse.
I'm glad that she got some redemption in season 3, via an honorable maverick, but I would have liked to seen her characters trajectory post season one, without the time travel shenanigans, or TNG season 8..

The "Anti-Chat" Theory.
(Which is also why Chat Blanc 2.0 wont work and why Ladybug needs to be akumatized).
This is a turducken on my thoughts for S4 and the future of the show so just roll with it.
So, Season 4 has been wild so far, and if clues given by the writers and people involved in show are any indication, this is only the beginning, we are in for a bumpy ride and things are just going to keep getting worse.
In all the discourse revolving season 4 something that we are all mentioning is how “Chat Blanc” is still a thing and there is no guarantee it won’t happen again. If anything it now seems more likely Chat Noir will get akumatized considering the imminent Ladynoir fallout, and how Adrien is still living with his Father, as his isolation keeps getting worse. And though I am always In for some good Character angst, and I feel like it is necessary for Adrien to know about Chat Blanc, and/or for Chat Blanc to reappear, I don’t think Chat Blanc 2.0 is something Adrien nor the show needs right know.
This theory has many parts, I promise it all ties neatly at the end.
First things first, I may be a little biased, Chat Blanc is an episode I really enjoy. I love Time Travel shenanigans, and I was dying to see Adrien finally find out about his father. The heavy consequences of the episode were obviously erased, but the impact of it all still remains trough Marinette, whom we see in the episode ‘Sentibbubler’ is having nightmares about the whole thing. But still, I love the episode, and I really don’t want an “Stormy Weather 2”
which is an episode I heavily dislike, compared to THE BEST formulaic episode of the Whole show, a.k.a “Stormy Weather” a.k.a My favorite episode. So yeah, this whole first point is just me REALLY not wanting an episode called “Chat Blanc 2.0” But there is more to it, and is the fact that I don’t see how it could work out.
“Chat Blanc 2.0” is unnecessary, and the reason why is that bringing him back wouldn’t actually do anything besides perhaps bringing Ladynoir further apart. Ladybug still CAN’T know Chat noir’s identity, (Let’s be honest and admit that’s prolly s4 finale OR happening during s5) so the show would go out of its way to make his dialogue as plain as possible without mentioning his father being hawkmoth. And yes, I do realize that Chat has been bottling his emotions and it all is likely to come out during THE ladynoir fall out
But people are ignoring the elephant in the room which is that Chat Noir DOES NOT fight Ladybug.
I promise this is relevant.
Chat Noir, unless mind controlled, would never attack Ladybug. The most clear example of this is in “Gamer 2.0” when he straight up says “I could never bring myself to fight you” as he sacrifices himself for her, that added to their classic “Is us against the world, My Lady” every season finale, and Marinette’s “In case something happens to me” In ‘Optygami’, it all could pretty well be a foreshadowing of a Ladynoir fight, where Ladybug is akumatized, and Chat has to willingly fight her. Yes, one could argue that he did fight her during ‘Chat Blanc’, but it could also be read as more of him trying to make her listen.
Where am I going with this? Chat Blanc 2.0 would be unable to bring the nuance the story needs right now. Chat Blanc still wouldn’t fight his father, because I doubt they won’t leave that for season 5. Chat Blanc still doesn’t have a motive to actually fight Ladybug. But the most important part is
What would happen at the end? What would be the change? What conversation are we having? What would be different than what we got in the original Chat Blanc?
To be fair, maybe I am wrong, maybe it can work out, this is just a theory. Maybe all the things I crossed out as impossible will actually happen, but I have been watching the show for 6 years, and If I have learned something about it, is that it is a slow burn, in ALL the aspects.
So yes, I believe Ladybug/Marinette needs to be akumatized, but I also think that Adrien has to learn about Chat Blanc, and that Chat Blanc needs to reappear, having a bigger Role than just a nightmare. So
how does that tie with everything I just said? Easy, the “Anti- Chat” Theory’
So you probably remember “Anti-Bug”, one of the best episodes from season 1, where Chole tries to help Ladybug, she doesn’t listen, and Chloe ends up being akumatized into “Ladybug but evil”
In theory, that is the deal, and is no wonder I am picking Felix Graham De Vanily to fill this role.
From an animation perspective, Felix is the obvious choice, he is identical to Adrien, and if following Anti-bug’s logic in costume desing, that would mean they can reuse Chat Blanc model with no alteration needed.
Now, How would this work? By giving Ladybug a jump scare. She thinks she has to live one of her worst nightmares again, to then find out “Oh
This is not Chat Noir” while still creating enough tension, by looking scared and distraught, that she HAS to tell him that she is scared of him being akumatized WITHOUT actually needing to mention the alternative timeline. This gives Chat noir the chance to lash out, once he realizes this is part of why ladybug is keeping him away, which can lead to Ladybug’s future akumatization.
Why this way? And please hear me out. Chat Noir NEEDS to let his emotions out, and I don’t think lashing out at ladybug is the best way but I see it as necessary. Adrien needs to take on more responsibility while being Chat, but he also needs to learn how to healthy express his emotions, because he is not allowed to do that in his current situation. Ladybug being akumatized because she feels guilty about Chat Noir allows Adrien to do BOTH. Because to save Ladybug he would have to realize “My emotions are valid, and is okey to let them out, but the way I did it was not the right one”, and both Ladybug and Chat Noir would have to apologize because this whole thing is not miscommunication
is a misunderstanding of their partners character. Ladybug needs to relay more on Chat and Chat needs to take on more responsibility
it won’t happen if Ladybug is the one that needs to save Chat Noir.
Adrien needs to realize that he needs to save himself, and that there’s people outside of his father that care for him. Ladybug is this figure that he looks up to and Admires, and is from a side of his life that his father has no control over, (At least from his perspective). So if she forgives him, if they are able to fix their relationship he will realize that things can get better.
Now, going back to Anti-Chat
his deal is way bigger than just bringing The Ladynoir fight
Is about setting up seasons 6 and 7.
What do we know so far? The Love Square and Gabriel’s Hawkmoth is going to come to an end by season 5. Which has left many fans wondering “Then what is happening on seasons 6 and 7?” And the best answer we have so far is in the episode “Timetagger” where Bunnix reveals that there is a whole team of miraculous holders fighting the Hawkmoth of the future, which is by the same episode confirmed to not be Gabriel Agreste. Besides this, I think it is safe to assume that the specials are quietly setting up themes that could come back In seasons 6 and 7.
Now, when speaking about characters that could be future villains the fandom seems to have its collective mind set on two individuals: Lila Rossi, and Felix Graham De Vanily.
Besides ‘Rocketear’, (E17), ‘Wishmaker’ (E18), and the special ’Shadow Moth’s last attack’ (Eps 25&26) we don’t know the names of the episodes of the second half of the season, which is really uncommon for miraculous ladybug, and the reason they gave us as to why is “You would know who is akumatized based on the names”
Which AGAIN, is really uncommon for ML. If you have been in this fandom for a long time you’ll realize that most people working in the show don’t really seem to care about spoilers. Now, this is kinda a conspiracy theory, but If you saw that there was an episode called “Anti-Chat” would you have assume it was any one other than Felix?
. No, right? That’s what I though. Miraculous has proven that it is good at subverting expectations, so when they are pointing at something (like a Chat Blanc 2.0 episode) it may not be as we want or suspected it to be. So I think an Anti-Chat episode makes a lot of sense.
Now, Why am I saying that this can set up future season? Buckle up, pals, here we go. What do we know about Felix?
He is evil, or at the very least seems to be ill-intentioned, if his attitude and look at the end of his episode is anything to go by.
He is after jewelry. Which, yeah, was only shown in that one episode he appeared, but this could pretty much be a foreshadowing of him later on going after the miraculous.
We know that he is bound to appear 3 more times
For this theory to work, I need it to happen in episode 22
Yes, the feared 100th episode of the show. It is not as important why Felix is akumatized, but what is happening WHILE he is akumatized.
Besides what has already been discussed, with Ladybug being scared, Ladynoir should not be able to work together. They are tumbling on each other because Chat Noir feels like she doesn’t trust him, but Ladybug NEEDS his reassurance right now, which he wont give.
This, is directly parallel with what is happening between Anti-Chat and Shadow Moth. Because Felix, even though he wants the miraculous, he won’t let himself be bossed around. He is demanding things from SM, and like in Robustus, Anti-Chat tries to, not just take Ladybug’s and Chat noir’s Miraculous, he wants to destroy Hawkmoth too. Which will lead to Shadow Moth being the reason he gets de-akumatized, instead Ladybug and Chat Noir saving him... bringing more fuel to the Ladynoir fire.
Now, Why should Felix have an attitude with Shadow Moth? Well, my friends
Do you remember, years ago, when the producers of the show said “The peacock miraculous holder will make Hawkmoth look like a baby”
. That’s not Mayura. Nathalie is a great miraculous holder, and she is really clever. But instead of making Gabriel look like a baby, she makes him look smart because he has someone like her on his team. What I am saying with this is that Felix, will suspect/ figure out Gabriel is Hawkmoth at the en of Anti-Chat, and that he will get the peacock miraculous during “The Last attack of Shadow Moth.” Thus, setting up a villain for future seasons.
This makes Felix 3 appearances be: In episode 22 (Anti-Chat), In episode 26 (SM last attack, part 2), and during S5’s finale. Felix situation will be much like Lila’s during s1 and s2 where she was introduced at the end of the first but not used until the end of the second.
Conclusion:
Felix Graham de Vanily has the potential to be a future villain and bring the Ladynoir conflict to finally surface.
And to clarify, The Ladynoir conflict, just like this Felix theory, is not something that will, nor can get resolved in one episode. If anything the fight will be around the end of season 4, and it will get resolved during season 5.
But again, this is just a theory, and I will probably be death wrong, but who knows?

’cos i don’t believe in ghosts {Joe Mazzello}
1. Salem
Chapter Summary: SUPERNATURAL CREATURES AU; In which Joe (a demon) agrees to go on a ghost hunt with you (an oblivious human) in Salem because it seems like a good idea, and Lucy (a witch) also comes along because it actually seems like a terrible idea, and knows Joe’s nature far to well to leave him with you unsupervised in this sort of situation.
A/N: Concepts at play; Lucy is a witch and works with sigils and can set up telepathic links between herself and others. Joe is a demon. Gwil, Rami, and Ben, are all also supernatural creatures, but we’ll find out more about them later. Possible Lucy/Reader as well in some chapters maybe. feedback would be appreciated!!
“Text presented like this is a telepathic conversation.”
--
After a long day of sight seeing and interviews, all you wanted to do was flop onto your nice, comfortable hotel bed and watch tacky ghost-hunting shows. Socks and shoes off, snuggled under the covers with a waterbottle on your bedside table and the overhead lights off, you plugged in your laptop and opened up Netflix, scrolling through your recommendations. There was a surprising wealth of conspiracy theory documentaries, ghost-hunting shows, and sensationalised pieces on proof of supernatural creatures all over the world. You, of course, held your own beliefs about this sort of thing, but even though you were travelling all over America for work, and had ample days off to explore the sights that so intrigued you, you knew you were too nervous to go on your own.
Except that Salem was only half an hour away from your next tour stop, and you had a full day free while there, and yes the witch trials were awful, but part of you feels like it’s the perfect ‘first haunting’ location to visit.
“What are you watching?” On a break between interviews, it’s Joe who spots you staring at your phone, completely invested in whatever’s going on on-screen, one headphone in.
“Oh, I-” quickly, you remove the headphone, a little flustered at being caught, “it’s just Buzzfeed thing I sometimes watch.” You’d been mentally preparing yourself for going to the Witch House the following day, and had tried to go the lighthearted route of video research; somehow the duo who ran Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural managed to ease your nerves more than any straight-laced documentary would ever manage.
Joe smiles a little at that, at your sudden fluster, and he raises his eyebrows at you, moving to your other side to pick from the plate of sandwiches that had been provided for them.
“Anything interesting?” He asks, his voice surprisingly casual, and you hum for a moment, deliberating on whether or not to tell him what exactly you were watching.
It wasn’t that you didn’t like him, quite the opposite in fact, as assistant to the PR Manager you’d managed to form quite a solid friendship with the cast on this leg of the Press Tour for Bohemian Rhapsody.
“Depends on what you find interesting,” you give a small smile back, and Joe raises his eyebrows, perhaps in challenge, perhaps in amusement, but you conceded after only a few moments, tilting your phone to show him where the two hosts of the show were trooping towards the Witch House. “They’re, like, semi-professional paranormal investigators.” Is how you chose to describe it. Joe couldn’t hear the audio, since it was still feeding through your earphones, but his lips quirked in a grin. After a moment, the video has a close up of the taller of the two hosts, Shane, and Joe makes an indecipherable noise in the back of his throat that edges on amused.
“Salem?” He asks finally, and looks up from the phone to meet your gaze, “spooky.” He’s holding back a laugh, you just know it, and you rolled your eyes.
“Yeah, well, it’s nearby, I thought I might check it out tomorrow.”
“Extra spooky, a little solo field trip?” He’s grinning like he’s genuinely intrigued, like he’s invested in the idea of your ghost hunt. You tip your head from side to side, deliberating for a moment, before nodding.
“I mean, you’re always welcome to tag along,” you find yourself offering, and Joe’s eyebrows rise in both surprise and amusement, “I just never pictured it as your scene.”
“If you’re offering, I’d rather come along than have you possibly get haunted on your own.”
“You’ll protect me from the ghosts?” You half smirked, and Joe snickered.
“And anything else that might be lurking in the shadows,” it sounds like a joke, and you laugh it off easily, a little bit flustered that he’d agreed to come along so easily.
By the time the cast had reset for the next interview, you were back by the PR Manager’s side, and Joe was sitting on the edge of a sofa, though his expression had gone strange, his smile a little tight.
Unbeknownst to you, there was a voice that was not his own filtering through in his mind.
"You shouldn’t play with her like that.”
“And you should know better than to be in my mind like this right before an interview.”
“What? Are you begging to be caught?”
“Are you? At least look at the camera. Anyways, she’s a fan of the supernatural.”
“She’s a fan of ghosts. You’re not a ghost, Joe, incase you forgot.”
“Yeah, I’m painfully aware of being corporeal- I’m hungry.”
“Focus. You can’t go ghost hunting with her, it’s a recipe for disaster.”
“I thought Rami would be much more likely to lecture me.”
“Rami’s not telepathic.”
“Fair point. Listen, if you’re so worried, you can come along too. It’ll be a fun little field trip, team bonding!”
Joe looks over to Lucy, whose eyes have glazed over. She’s got her hands clasped in her lap, but he can see the subtle way her index finger was tracing patterns in the air repeatedly. Though the minute he catches sight of her, Lucy’s attention snaps to Joe, and she gives an eye roll.
“Ghost hunting and team bonding don’t exactly go hand in hand, but fine.”
Joe could almost hear her sigh, despite the smile she wore, and after a beat, she chimed in again.
“You know I hate Salem.”
--
You’d take any opportunity to hang out with the cast, you adored them all individually, so when Lucy made mention that she’d heard you and Joe were going to Salem to do some ghost hunting, you were eager to invite her along. In fact, you’re fully intending to extend the offer to the rest of the cast, but without prompting, Lucy makes mention that the others probably wouldn’t be into it.
“Ben’s afraid of ghosts,” Joe adds, slotting himself into the conversation, and the idea alone of Ben’s weakness being the concept of ghosts is funny enough that you don’t care if it’s real or not.
But then it’s settled; you, Joe, and Lucy were going to head to Salem the following evening. You didn’t really have anything planned, you were just going to bring your camera and just go exploring, not really expecting to find anything. You’re also not quite sure if either of the cast members are going to show up, but you’d cleared the excursion with your boss, and now it was edging on twilight and you were sitting in the lobby of the hotel you were all staying at, nervously jangling the keys of one of the rental cars the studio had outfitted you all with.
But, just as the sun was sinking below the horizon, both Joe and Lucy step out from the elevator, quietly arguing with each other, though that quickly comes to an end once they spot you. Both of them smile, and you feel the relief course through you, and you lead the way to the parking garage.
“You expecting to find anything?” Joe asks during the drive, leaning forward from the back middle seat where he’d been annexed at Lucy’s insistence, while she took the front passenger seat.
“Not sure,” you replied honestly, “I don’t think I’ll catch anything on film, but I’m hoping something spooky might happen.” Laughing a little, you keep your eyes on the road, though you hear Joe snort. “What about you guys? You fans of this supernatural sort of stuff, or just along for a joy ride and to make sure I don’t get mugged while on my lonesome?”
“Honestly, can’t say I’m not a fan of a bit of supernatural shenanigans, but I’ve never held much stock in ghosts,” Joe’s voice has a surprising air of authority on the subject, and Lucy actually has to hide her laughter behind her hand.
“Just because you’ve never seen a ghost,” she snips back at him, and Joe shakes his head.
“If ghosts were real I definitely would have seen one,” he says, voice lofty, and you can’t help but laugh.
“Well maybe they just run whenever they see your face,” Lucy teases, and reaches back to pinch Joe’s cheek. You’re still laughing, but Joe’s gone quiet, contemplative. “Cheer up,” Lucy adds, “maybe tonight’s your night.” But there’s a strange quality to her voice that you can’t quite identify, and before you can even try, she reaches over to turn on the radio.
Salem is quiet as a grave. Bring the car to a stop a few blocks away from The Witch House, and it finally hits you where you are, and how strangely dark it’s already managed to get. Your grip is white knuckled on the steering wheel, and it’s all you can do to sit in silence for almost three full minutes.
“If you’re not up for this, we can go back,” Lucy’s voice is gentle, but Joe’s already unbuckling and practically pitching himself from the car.
“This place has such a weird energy, you know?” He announces, hands on his hips, looking down at the street towards the House itself.
“Are you- are you for real? Or are you taking the piss?” You call out the door that he’s left open, and he spins, grinning.
“No, I’m like, being for-real. You know in like, ah, fuck I can’t remember which movie it is, but like, the guy leans down and he touches the dirt,” Joe bends at the knee, kneeling on the soil, his fingertips brushing the ground, “and he’s like, ‘something terrible happened here’,” he grins, looking far chipper than he had any right to, given the circumstance, “you know, it’s like that.”
“Maybe we should go home,” your brow creases in concern, and you shift your grip on the steering wheel nervously. Lucy rests a hand on your shoulder, and you can feel her thumb gently brushing against your jacket, though it goes a considerable ways to calming you down.
“You’ll be fine,” Joe calls back, and his smile is bright and yet reassuring, “I was kidding; I told you ghosts aren’t real.” He hums as you unbuckle your seatbelt, “and what are they gonna do anyways? Be mostly see-through and wiggle at us? Tell us to get out? Joke’s on them, I have selective hearing and I can’t hear ghosts.”
The two of them walk either side of you, Joe with his hands in his pockets as he observes the scenery with a smile, and Lucy with her arm tucked into yours, absentmindedly tracing patterns on the palm of your hand as the two of you chatted. Neither of them really looked at you, though you were feeling relatively calm and secure. The surprise comes when you finally realise how tense and on edge Lucy was. When you ask, she gives a tight smile, and says something about how she can’t stop thinking about the atrocities committed here.
“Fair.” You agree, but try not to think about it.
“You see anything?”
“You mean anything extra spooky? No; I told you, ghosts aren’t real.”
“Joe, I know they are; I genuinely think you scare them off. Witch-spirits especially are very aware of vibes-”
“Are you saying I have bad vibes?”
“I’m saying a demon like yourself isn’t one to be messed with, and everything less than corporeal sped off the minute we arrived.”
“Was that a compliment I heard?”
“It was just a statement.”
“You think I’m spooky.”
“I think you’re going a good ways to scaring off Y/N.”
“She’s fine, she’s a champ, and it’s not like she has anything to worry about with us around, even if there was something that wasn’t scared off by my ‘bad vibes’ or whatever you called it, we could take them.”
“I still hate this place.”
“You see any old friends floating around?”
“Shut up. No.”
The tense set of Lucy’s shoulders doesn’t get better, in fact, she glances over at Joe after the two of them had been quite for a very long time, and her jaw clenches. Her grip on you gets just a little bit tighter.
“Anyone specific we’re looking for?” Joe asks out loud, as if it’s a normal conversation to have, while the three of you stood at the gate of The Witch House.
“Tituba,” Lucy answers automatically, much to your surprise, and you extract yourself from her grip gently, stepping down the stairs and into the trench where the house once was.
“You’ve done your research,” you say, a little preoccupied as you move through the space, phone camera held out in front of you.
“What about Hecuba?” Joe asks, sitting himself by the edge of the fence, while Lucy perched herself on the railing itself, the two of them sitting sentinel, like guard dogs against anything that might try it’s luck against your sweet, human soul.
“Hecuba was just a person, I think you’re thinking of Hecate;” Lucy corrects, and Joe nods, thoughtful. However, a moment passes where Lucy turns as white as a sheet, not that anyone else notices, at the idea of Hecate herself appearing in this glorified grave yard. But then again, the Goddess of Witchcraft did both adore and abhor this little town, she had no time for tourists, this Lucy knew. Even tourists with a spicy companion such as a demon.
For a few moments, they just watch you, sitting as still as possible to not interfere with your work, watching how fascinated you get with each little sound and movement. There’s nothing there, not really, but your nervous faith is so enthralling.
“You see anything?” Joe calls, and you tell him you haven’t. He repeats the question to Lucy and is met with a hum of hesitation; when he looks at her with his true sight, he sees her tracing sigils into the air, quiet, disciplined movements. To the natural eye, the sigils are invisible, but when he looks at her like this, he can see them glowing bright in precise shapes and symbols, beautiful in their own way. She’s watching you intently, and when Joe follows her gaze, he sees a translucent dome glowing around you, somehow managing to radiate ‘don’t fuck with me’ vibes. Even Joe feels his skin itch just being in close proximity to it.
“No.” Lucy answers, though her hesitation had given you cause for concern, she’s quick to cover, “but it’s pitch black out here, I can’t exactly see anything.” And you have to agree.
It’s been, well, interesting to say the least. You drive back, and thank god Lucy seems to get more relaxed with each mile that you put between yourselves and that town.
“Do you plan on doing this sort of thing again?” Lucy asks as the three of you ride the elevator from the parking garage to the lobby. You hesitate for a moment.
“I mean, yeah, if I get the opportunity,” you say, a little tentatively, “you guys don’t have to come along, I can-”
“Nah, this was fun,” Joe grins, cutting you off before you can finish your sentence, your attempt to unburden them of your presence, your little side project, “now I wanna see a ghost by the time the tour’s up.”
Lucy raises her eyebrows at him. Joe shrugs helplessly, still smiling.
And you, you sweet, oblivious human, don’t know why but you feel safer knowing they’re coming along with you on your supernatural side quest.

Character Info/Open for Starters
Below the cut will be who is available for rps, and how much wiggle room they have in terms of where they are to what degree/contexts they can be played in.
Open: can be used in any kind of cannon or au situation Semi-open: will generally only be restricted to certain areas or will be with/around other characters, but can be tweaked for other stuff if an interesting enough idea/premise is proposed Limited: can only be interacted with under certain circumstances, restricted to specific situations/cannons
Please don’t hesitate to DM me with further questions or if you want to get something going with anybody on the list! I may be a little slow to reply due to work and IRL shit, but I love these characters and would like to do more with them.
OPEN
Tumblr media
Arc: brash, stubborn, loud. Bit of a feral disaster lesbian. Typically only in Dirtmoth, the Kingdom’s Edge, or the Crystal Peak. Hates going into Hallownest proper because being underground for too long makes her super uncomfortable. Oni’s traveling partner/one of his mother figures. Deals with stress by fighting things and trying to ignore her deeper underlying emotional issues. From an alternate timeline, thrown into this one via bullshit space magic gone wrong.
Tumblr media
Oni: soft-spoken, gentle, tired. A good musically inclined lad. Doesn’t like fighting but can very well hold his own in a fight if need be. Spends much of his time in Dirtmouth, but can and will travel all over Hallownest. Arc’s travel partner/sort of son, on tense terms with her at the moment. From same timeline as Arc. (original concept/design a joint effort between myself and @thesweetestbard )
Tumblr media
Hesta: inquisitive, secretive, organized chaos. The former Postmaster of the Archives, has been roaming Hallownest ever since the kingdom’s fall to find out the answers as to why her home fell apart in the first place. Can and will be found anywhere in Hallownest, even in places where it seems like she shouldn’t have been able to get into in the first place. Purveyor of fine conspiracy theories.
Semi-Open:
Tumblr media
Baby Oni: curious, playful, a baby. A young alternate Oni native to this main timeline. Currently under his big future self’s care. Only found in Dirtmouth, and with Arc, Oni, or Chip at this time.  (original concept/design a joint effort between myself and @thesweetestbard )
Tumblr media
Chip: cautious, observant, recovering from PK and Infection based trauma. A version of the Broken Vessel boss that survived because Arc just happened to crash land in their arena after Ghost beat them. She was able to patch them up and get them stable enough to move to the nearest hot spring. Still a little uncoordinated and unsteady, having to relearn how to function and move after being under the Infection’s influence for so long. Generally only in Dirtmouth with Arc or either of the Onis.
Tumblr media
Amosis: artistic, shy, nervous. Circe’s half-moth son, was abused mentally and physically by her while stuck under her influence. Primarily in a timeline where he was rescued and adopted by @motherly-moth , but can be used in other adopt the boi scenarios.
Limited:
Tumblr media
Circe: manipulative, abusive, perfectionist. Amosis’ mother and Eirlys’ former wife, a powerful magic user and leader of a cult that almost completely took over an oceanside village before she was stopped and killed. Depending on the AU/timeline, she was either killed by her own magic ritual being sabotaged, or by getting nuked by @motherly-moth ‘s Radiance. Either way, she is very dead and can only be interacted with in the afterlife or dreamworld.
Tumblr media
Kos: pensive, melancholy, lonely. Mother to Oni and formerly @thesweetestbard ‘s wife before she got the horrible space goo plague and was put down after she mutated into a horrible eldritch monster. She is technically ascended from normal bug status due to the nature of how deep she got into the space magic that lead to her death, but even she is not too sure what she is now. Typically an observer to outside events from the dream world/afterlife, cannot interact with the physical world unless through magic shenanigans. Misses her wives and son(s), but is too ashamed of herself to try and reach out to them.
Tumblr media
Eirlys: soft, patient, understanding. Amosis’ father and Circe’s former husband, was stuck under his wife’s influence with horrible space fungus magic for years until @motherly-moth came along and freed and healed him. Weird eye is due to Radiance’s healing. Can only be interacted in @motherly-moth ‘s unfucked AU Hallownest, considered dead in most other timelines.
Tumblr media
Aello: gruff, steadfast, generally exasperated. Eirlys’ sister and Amosis’ aunt, effectively the leader of the village after Circe and her nasty cult was outed. Can only be interacted with in her village, is still trying to clean up the mess her former sister-in-law left behind.

Light begging Ryuk for his life
Light’s funeral
catfishmaster
The main characters (plus B) as DND characters
Older Near (like 25-30) with a bunch of cats he keeps for company
Roger bonding with Near after the Kira case.
Beyond Birthday faked his death in 2004 and now lives alone as a poor and pretty miserable theatre actor with a fake name. Oh, and also it's a Kira wins au.
Years after the Kira case has concluded, L takes on Near as an apprentice.
Matt takes Near on a tour of an afterlife-like world they both wound up in. It's more like a dreamscape than anything else but it serves as an afterlife.

I Luvz Me Some MAN FROM MARS by Fred Nadis
Ray Palmer and his protĂ©gĂ© Richard S. Shaver are two of the most outlandish personalities in the history of science fiction -- and in a field crowded with world class eccentrics, that’s saying something!
Fred Nadis’ new book, The Man From Mars, gives the reader only the barest of tastes of what the Ray & Rich Traveling Medicine Show was like, but it should be enough to amuse and educate the average reader.
Those of us who are long time sci-fi fans are already well acquainted with the shenanigans disclosed[1], and a little bit of on-line research will provide one with connections that fill the story out in full detail. But this ain’t a bad starting point.
To summarize: Ray Palmer was a Midwest prodigy who, at age nine, suffered first a horrible spinal injury then a series of medical emergencies and infections related to it.  Determined not to succumb to his disability (as an adult he was a hunchback well under five feet in height)[2], he honed his mind and his body to the utmost of his abilities.  Despite his physical handicap he worked as a sheet metal fitter and was an avid bowler.
Mentally, he took off like a rocket.  Like many writers, his long periods of recovery from surgery and illness spurred him to read and think at great length, and his fierce determination only strengthened his will power.
Growing up at the same time Hugo Gernsback introduced “scientifiction” via Amazing Stories magazine, Palmer soon gravitated towards sci-fi and by age eighteen was the editor in chief of Amazing Stories itself.[3]  Palmer brought his own gee-whiz fannish sensibilities to the magazine and while Amazing Stories was not highly regarded among fans for its literary quality, it was accepted as part of the sci-fi community.
Then Palmer rescued the ravings of Shaver from his slush pile, re-wrote and revised his material, and nothing remained the same.
Nadis well documents Palmer’s tendency to play both sides against the middle in any intellectual debate, presenting “I Remember Lemuria” as a work of fiction but one based on the true “experiences” of Shaver (although Shaver would be first to admit he only recollected these experiences long after they had been buried in his sub-conscious[4]).  The “Shaver mystery” (as it became known) was about a war between ancient entities in vast underground caverns battling for the control of the human race, one side for good, the other side for evil; nothing that hadn’t been done before (viz. H.P. Lovecraft) but always as fiction, not fact.
Sci-fi fans of the era did not like their non-fiction chocolate mixed up with their fiction peanut butter and howled in protest at Palmer & Shaver’s loopy lost memory mysticism, but non-fans ate it up and the magazine’s readership burgeoned.
And just as the “Shaver mystery” was starting to lose steam, pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing UFOs near Mount Shasta and Palmer was off on a brand new chase, this one to lead him out of science fiction and into the realm of the modern ufology / mysticism / conspiracy theory movements.
Palmer is one of the founders of the whole flying saucer mythos, yet is routinely overlooked by researchers in that area, probably because his outlandish personality and contradictory stances make him difficult to pigeon hole.
Which is a pity, because as much of a huckster as Palmer was, it’s clear he was also a seeker of the truth, albeit it in directions far afield of accepted scholarly or spiritual disciplines.  He died a generation too early to have seen the arrival of the internet, but one can sense he would have been perfect for that media.
The book is fairly well written, not quite as lively as the subject, but interesting.  There are a few errors that I spotted, mostly minor stuff such as misidentifying covers, etc., that don’t undermine the broad strokes of the story but do make me wonder about each fact presented that hasn’t been verified elsewhere (while Palmer is not well known to the public at large, there is voluminous documentation of his professional publishing career).
A good gift for any sci-fi or flying saucer fan, for the science fiction historian, or as a library check out for the casual reader.
© Buzz Dixon
[1]  Full disclosure:  While I never had the chance to meet Ray Palmer, I corresponded with Richard S. Shaver via the pages of Title, a letter-zine of the 1970s.  Shaver was as well read, polite, and coherent a correspondent as one could hope to encounter even if he was crazier than a woodpecker in a petrified forest.
[2]  To put first time visitors at ease with his decidedly odd appearance, Palmer often jokingly introduced himself as a “man from Mars”.
[3]  Gernsback having lost the title in a bankruptcy, and the new publisher being ill-equipped to capitalize on the market.
[4]  Later it would be discovered that the period of his life in which Shaver recollected these lost ancestral memories was the same period of time he was undergoing hydro and shock therapy in various mental institutions, so go figure

National Security Adviser Mike Flynn, Security Risk
Question was a safety settlement got by Flynn?
A few months before, I charged many national organizations, such as the FBI, CIA and Justice Office, to locate out—not nearly Flynn, the trapped Whitehouse National Security Agent, but additional top appointees within the Donaldtrump management who’ve bogus international scarves.
When I mentioned in my own Independence of Info criticism, “Gen. Flynn has close connections towards the Euro government, has approved cash from partners of Turkish Leader Erdogan, and was pressured to decide in the Protection Intelligence Agency for mismanagement, anyone which might increase significant issues about allowing him entry to” classified info. Flynn also “wrongly discussed” categorized info with international military officials in Afghanistan, “which might alone guarantee the denial-of a safety settlement for many national workers,” claims my match, submitted by National Security Advisors, a Wa, D.C. public-interest lawyer.
Security Adviser Flynn has refused reviews he mentioned Barak supports on Spain using the ambassador in the nation before Leader Donald Trump took office. Reuters
Low-Rejection Rejection
And that paperwork came that Flynn had perhaps conspired in Wa within the phone with ambassador to weaken Leader Barack Obama’s supports against Moscow. The Washington Post’s consideration reported nine—nine!—”present and former authorities, who were in mature jobs at numerous companies at that time of the calls, [who] talked about the situation of privacy to go over intellect matters.”
In the beginning Flynn flatly refused he had mentioned supports with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, The Article documented. But on Thursday Flynn modified his tale, giving a declaration through his spokesperson that “while he’d no remembrance of discussing supports, he couldn’t make sure that the subject never arrived up.”
That’s a low-rejection refusal if there actually was one. But there’s a doubly worrying element within the reviews concerning the mercurial Flynn, who had been apparently pressured out as mind of the Protection Intelligence Company in 2014 for his “chaotic administration style.” Did Flynn, who invested his whole, 33-year job in intellect function, abruptly neglect that U.S. traveler companies regularly eavesdrop on international diplomats in California, D.C.,  especially Russia’s?
It’s possible. Frequently authorities tire of sophisticated protection methods and speak “in the open” via e-mails or individual telephones, when I documented on the situation concerning previous California Congresswoman Jane Harman last year. Similarly in 2015, the NSA apparently intercepted discussions between “U.S and Israeli authorities. lawmakers and National-Jewish groups” who have been attempting to scuttle the Barak administration’s atomic cope with Iran, based on the . Then there’s the absolute most renowned situation of intercepted discussions the lost emails of National Board authorities that served select Donald Trump, of.
Nothing was, evidently discovered by Flynn, in an excellent paradox out of this. Intelligence apparently overheard him conspiring to undercut the Barak administration’s reaction that was difficult to Moscow’s disturbance within the 2016 selection.
Nixon Period Redux?
The supposed piece may appear as an over-the-top bout of Houseofcards, but something similar to it’s occurred before. Within 1968’s drop, Republican candidate Nixon aimed his key Haldeman, of team, to a key Vietnam peace offer within the works between Moscow President Johnson and also the U.S. – government of Vietnam. Obviously, closing the battle, which had previously cost 000 National lifestyles, 33, would’ve significantly assisted vicepresident is, lbj’sed by Hubert Humphrey, the Democratic choice. Therefore Nixon attempted to scuttle the offer. He privately sent Anna Chennault, a Nixon fundraiser along with a person in the professional-Taiwan reception, to inform Saigon’s ambassador in Wa to put on out to get a greater offer following the selection, that the Republican was likely to get, based on documents discovered by Nixon biographer John A. Farrell.
When he discovered of the skullduggery Brown was annoyed. “They’re calling a dangerous energy in the centre of the battle
” he announced to Everett Dirksen, the Republican chief in the Home, based on a 2012 consideration by previous Newsweek writer Robert Parry. “If it is don’t wanted by them about the top websites, they stop it Brown cautioned. Dirksen consequently informed Nixon that LBJ was onto him the choice called-up any shenanigans were refused by Johnson—and.
Johnson’s helps advised him to reveal Nixon’s talking, but he demurred, simply since he lacked “absolute reality,” simply since it could be regarded as a filthy technique with respect to Humphrey, as well as in part since it might deteriorate Americans’ religion within their elections. “I believe it’d surprise America if your primary prospect was [open] having fun with a supply such as this on the issue of the significance,” Brown stated, based on a declassified recording of the discussion.
Problem? Barak authorities examined intercepts revealing Flynn’s treachery and involved in comparable wrenching inner discussions, based on The Article’s astounding consideration. “U.S. Authorities stated that trying to develop this type of situation against Flynn could be challenging. Regulations against U.S. people interfering in international diplomacy, referred to as the Logan Work, comes from a 1799 law that’s never been punished,” The Article stated. “As an effect, there’s no case-history to greatly help manual regulators on when to continue or just how to safe a conviction.” They “also mentioned governmental sensitivities.” Lodging costs against Flynn, The Article documented, “would ask costs of governmental persecution.”
Requires Elimination
The Democrats aren’t prone for this, by numerous corroborations of the flap and the ton of leaks.  California Representative Adam Schiff, standing Democrat about the Home Intelligence Panel, stated that, “if Common Flynn privately mentioned with Spain undermining U.S. supports, and fooled National people, he is able to no further serve.” Eric Swalwell of Florida, leading Democrat about the panel’s CIA error subcommittee, tweeted that, “The @WhiteHouse must instantly POSTPONE National Security Consultant Flynn & REVOKE use of classified info until investigated.” Similarly, the ranking Democrat about the Residence Foreign Affairs Panel, Eliot Engel of Ny, denounced Trump authorities for “misleading“ Congress with denials of its Back channel interesting and required Flynn be terminated “immediately.”
Leader Donald Trump, from remaining, registered by Key of Team Reince Priebus, Vice-President Mike Pence, mature consultant Steve Bannon, Communications Representative Sean Spicer and National Security Consultant Michael Flynn, talks by telephone with Russiais Leader Vladimir Putin within the Oval Office in the Whitehouse in California, January 28. Reuters
Flynn’s leads aren’t apt to be enhanced from the FBI’s continuing probe of the NSA’s extended tabs on communications, and of course intrigues. The Select Committee on Intellect is also starting a study of the accusations. The most effective Democrat on that Warner of Va, cell, launched a declaration Friday stating the brand new reviews “emphasize both seriousness and also its investigation’s emergency”. On Friday, documented that, “For the very first time, U.S. detectives state they’ve corroborated a few of the [Euro] communications comprehensive in a 35-site dossier published by a former British intelligence adviser.” And to 1 of his helps, Africa specialist Townley, the CIA on Friday refused a safety settlement as your final start working Flynn’s trousers. She and Flynn reveal a contempt for that method the intelligence group works, based on .
Republicans are hunkering down, decreasing possibilities to operate for Flynn, but additionally battening the hatches from the developing surprise. However they don’t really. The motion that is important thing is among leading Trump authorities, who’re currently circling Flynn like a lot of Brutuses. Flynn had previously irritated the administration’s Defense James Mattis top national-security authorities and Security John F. Kelley, by attempting to grow his acolytes.  And subsequently there’s Proper Adviser Bannon, Trump’s Svengali .
‘Man is Harmful’
“Bannon hates Flynn,” a supply having a Whitehouse link informs Newsweek. Flynn “was Mr. Trump’s top agent on national-security problems before a number of problems decreased his impact,” based on a  New York Times tale that had Bannon’s fingerprints throughout it. Which was 12 nights before, producing Trump Period is a Dead-Sea scrolled in by the tale. In no time, organization and Bannon may cough Flynn just like a hairball up.
“Heis simply harmful,” a Republican who’s worked directly with Flynn informed Newsweek many weeks previously on situation of privacy therefore to keep his connections with party leaders.  “This man is harmful,” he repeated, stating many occurrences showing Flynn’s unstable character and unusual appreciation for conspiracy theories.
He might be harmful to Trump considering what he might learn about the love for Putin. Which all begs the question was a safety settlement got by him? Did Trump?
Newsweek National Security Reporter hasbeen composing Spytalk since 2005. He is able to be attained just about confidentially via [email protected].
