Arceus Decides That Putting N Who Wants To Liberate Pokemon Into The Past Where People Fear Pokemon Is A Good Idea (Spoilers, It's A Terrible Idea, Especially with God Seeking Volo) - The Fic.

Note that this is an absolute crack idea where being such an N and Volo fan, who only watched YouTube moments where they star in and bop to their music and ofc have more reedemable characteristics for such characters because I admit on my bias... Without fully knowing pokemon lore nor actually wanting to deep dive into it when I just want to give the vibe, the aesthetic, the dream of putting my two characters together and see the dynamic, the chaos, the craziness.

So here's the deal, the idea. That while I do like N after he figured out Ghetsis manipulated him and turned to a grayer thinking to thus become the sweet character we love that wants to hear our pokemons' voice through battle and become a great ally... I also want to explore what he was before, with the manipulation of Ghetsis when he wholeheartedly believed in the liberation of Pokemon, before the canonical events of Black & White and say just after being let out of the castle to explore the world in a brief period of time as Ghetsis might allow, to understand being King of Team Plasma and honestly doing God knows what. So N, our protag who wants to help Pokemon, understand the world, learn to become King with an idea about the Pokemon League and in search to find the Dragons of Truth / Ideals (leaning to either one, who knows).

Then one day, a rift suddenly popped up to him, sucked him in and he fell to the sky to Hisui, where P:LA happens and that N has some understanding towards because while Unova is his hometown, he was educated as the best as King (biased knowledge tho because if he was taught well, he wouldn't be so black and white about people and Pokemon, seriously Ghetsis...) so he was aware of the other regions, and with his smart curiosity with a thirst of knowledge because he is a smart chara coz remember that cube, and his philosophical rambles etc that being in Hisui meant he was in Sinnoh's past. Combined with the Arc phone and about the deity to seek out all Pokemon, plus the fact that in this era where people surprisingly feared Pokemon which N had no idea of... as King, with the idea to liberate Pokemon from people, even in such situations, he knew what can be done:

Find a way to present time. The Arc phone is related to that, so he would follow Arceus' will to seek out pokemon and learn what he needed for the path needed.

Check out the current state of the legends in Unova, whether they were still Kyurem or split into Reshiram and Zekrom because finding out what happened to those Pokemon in real time might help him locate whatever happened to them in present time. Also leaving an impression in the past might help to be recognized in the present, as long as he doesn't overdo it.

Plant seeds of separating Pokemon from people in the past. Although there was the paradox of chaing past and messing up with the future, if people can only fear and abuse Pokemon, if that was what the world of people and Pokemon together amounted to, then N is determined as heck to stop whatever happened with those newfound Pokeballs and at least made sure people stay far away from Pokemon and that they should be separated. Pokemon suffered enough.

Because I don't know lore enough, P:LA kinda runs about the same way it usually would but more emphasis on N and Volo dynamic because that's what happens as a sucker to both characters. But it would also largely change, because N can talk to Pokemon. N will obviously keep it a secret that he can talk to Pokemon if people fear Pokemon so what would people think about someone who can talk to them and he didn't want any trouble in an unknown timeline. So let's see what points I can make of the aesthetic, the vibe, the insanity...

N brought Zorua with him, who had disguised as a small Joltik to nestle in N's hair because they are BFFs for life, your Honour. Don't @ me

N refuses to catch the three starter Pokemon into Pokeballs, but went along with it for the Professor when he realized he was in the past and he needed more information and a place to live. He was about to make excuses that he was unable to catch the Pokemon after finding them himself, to urge them to freedom but see it go sideways because they were fascinated about a person who can actually talk to Pokemon and ended up with the Professor anyway. Also, when asked why N didn't catch them in Pokeballs, N stated his dislike reluctantly and yet firmly and the Professor decided to accept it thinking he had the same mentality as the Clans

Still since N was somehow good with Pokemon and he fell out of the sky to bring him into Jubilife Village, meeting Akari and Rei the twins. Getting an Oshawott because felt connected Unovan style... recruited into the Survey Corps because even though he refused to catch them, he somehow worked well with the starter Pokemon and the affinity might help surveying although it was a little tentative because the moment he was in danger...

He was tasked to help complete the Pokedex, which disgusts him. But then he hears that Akari and Rei were among the few Survey Corps people entrusted to the task and if there was one thing to be learned about young kids (or young trainers in his present) that they could be menaces to people and Pokemon alike (caring more for the latter obviously) with that curiosity and crazy wonder that spoke of foolhardiness, recklessness and if he wanted to plant the idea of liberation between people and pokemon... start with young minds (and secretly find his 20 y/o a- being a bit of a father to two young kids because by Kyurem, he might not have lived with people for that long opposed to Pokemon but even he wouldn't wish anything to happen to two children just because of short manpower by the people responsible for them.)

In other words, N will just *pretend* to help with the Pokedex but honestly, he was busy with other things. Anything to further his own goals though.

Kamado doesn't necessarily trust N because from what I kinda figured out about his character, because of fear of Pokemon that anyone who is close to Pokemon like that could be a little red flag although I know that might not the entire thing. N vowed even more to never say a thing about how he can talk to Pokemon.

In exchange for all that, N would have access to what the people in this village know about Hisui and potential access to records so he could know more about the legends, the nations outside etc. Or whatever he can find.

Moving on from that, N meets Volo. N will meet the totally not suspicious merchant who expresses complete interest for someone who fell from the sky and since N has an Oshawott, why not a friendly battle? The Pokeball revolts him so he refuses, hugging Oshawott closer and Volo berates with what's wrong with friendly competition as he summons out his Togepi who looks eager.

N, though revolted, was astounded by Togepi's love for Volo (which evolved into Togetic through friendship so honestly I do want to believe that Volo takes good care of Pokemon in his passion to learn and understand them more) and even when battles still repulsed him, N also can't ignore Togepi's voice, is curious about how a Pokemon who was caught in the first ever Pokeball feel and with Oshawott also surprisingly raring to go, N could only respect Pokemons' wishes. And intervene if things go too far.

It was a close battle and will end up in a tie, because I say so XD Volo will heal both Pokemon, gift N a Potion and offer parting words. N decided that it was because he was a merchant supplying for Pokemon battles that he was like this and thus didn't think highly of him. And yet his interest was piqued at the love Togepi had for Volo, ask whether it is worth for friends to get stronger, to get contained in Pokeballs. All that philosophy, even when the world now was at fear of Pokemon in this era but Volo was among few as N noticed to have a Pokeball and the first to ask for battle. Volo wondered aloud whether a person from the sky had some different mindset but could only offer an answer about curiosity, of 'don't you want to know more about Pokemon' and also at the very fact why wouldn't anyone not want their partner Pokemon to get stronger when wild Pokemon are more likely to attack people for dead. Which causes N to short circuit because it ends up people attacking Pokemon for dead, the abuse that he could not stand for friends. But if it were Pokemon attacking...

At first, he didn't believe but when you somehow find yourself attacked by an Alpha Rapidash and saving two kids who thought it was a good idea to face it in battle just because they got starter Pokemon... N who had lived a long time in the wild with Pokemon and despite very little with human civilization knew it all screamed bad idea and was thankful he befriended enough Pokemon along the way that helped provide a diversion for escape.

Interestingly enough, would that be enough for N to start questioning about the relationships between people and Pokemon, but honestly N lives in the wild before so he knew Pokemon could be aggressive but that was also because of people so his thoughts largely remained unchanged. Reluctantly tho he can see why people would train up their Pokemon to be strong just to survive that. It made the idea of separating Pokemon and people even more urgent than ever, but as circumstances allowed it, he had an understanding of Volo's view. But at the same time, wondered how someone who directs Pokemon in order for survival would have such a tight bond, the love a Pokemon has for who caught them. Something that the very few who owned Pokemon in Pokeballs didn't really have, say a stubborn Pikachu with one of the twins.

That kind of makes meeting the Clan members who ask help for the Nobles thanks to the space-time rift just propel N's curiosity even further because look, the Clans dislike Pokeballs (immediate approval) and just have their Pokemon by their side (what N does so hello kindred spirits) so this makes him eager to accept helping the Clans quell the Nobles' wrath and figure out what happen to propel them to a present with the disgusting Pokeballs and how people who could live alongside Pokemon would end up abusing the very Pokemon that were there with them. It wouldn't change his end goal, but the more he learned, the more he can pinpoint and for the sake of his friends, the less hurt he would let the world inflict on them. Maybe.

Volo appearing out of nowhere that could have scared N out, if not for Zorua always with him to say whoever's approaching, taught the Back-Strike technique which N refuses because he would never use Pokeballs, unusual for a Survey Corp member but reminiscent of the clans. Which piques Volo's interest and left with N's huffed disinterest.

N uses Zorua as some Noble whisperer as an ever changing Pokemon (not that anyone else will know at the time) to calm down Nobles when it was actually N's expertise and somehow summoning friends out of thin air that made him worthy to get the Plates.

Volo 100% freaking out on the Plates, expressed himself as interested in Hisuian ruins and N, despite having somewhat mixed impressions on Volo, knew that this person might be one of the only ones to have any idea about the histories and of legendaries (especially if the clans are arguing about who the Almighty Sinnoh is, when they are just talking about Palkia and Dialgia who cannot match Arceus) and started asking about Unovan legends.

This is how two nerds (kinda) bond with each other, hold interest with each other and can be terrible to each other regardless.

Because I honestly do not know how anyone can change the mind of a Mr. even if it will take me years, decades, centuries to meet Arceus so I land on them sadly enough being terrible menaces together. Or maybe Volo might not change his mind about meeting Arceus, coz why can't we mere mortals have questions about the universe but about changing the world to a happier place with Arceus power just like how N wanted to change a world separated of people and Pokemon, in black and white for happiness.

Actually, those two will clash because I think Volo likes Pokemon enough, curious enough about them and wanted the Pokedex completion to refuse N's vision of a black and white world but N wouldn't budge either.

And yet, maybe it's a little easier for N's worldview to shake a bit, because honestly, the more Nobles N meet, the more of the Clan side by side with Pokemon in happiness and also Legendaries who might not really have problem with people, even if its indifference. Yeah, N needed to find Kyurem just to become a hero and dispel those doubts. Will that be a pretty picture? Nope, but it will be funny.

Time skipping to basically Kamado exiling N out of Jubilife Village, for a lot of reasons from the space time rift and being caught talking to Zorua and understanding him which no one believed even if it is true which makes people think Kamado is just determinely deluded to heap anything against N to bring him into exile and THIS might be when Volo will have something changed by N, in actually speaking with Pokemon.

Because N was in a bad place, even if he could live in the wild, he was shocked by Volo's kindness, was thankful enough, asked to hear Volo's Pokemon voices which he had twice now after yet another battle that led to learning more about a stolen wall fragment few Nobles ago and wanted to hear a third time, not necessarily through battle. Because Volo, despite being something N would inherently despise, from those Pokeballs to the interest in the Pokedex and also using those mercantile needs to fuel Pokemon battles because apparently Survey Corps being what would bring his present was something that would make business boom... and yet despite all that, Volo's Pokemon trusted, respected and dare he say it, even love him. Not any differently than how N and his own friends love each other. Clan members who do not confine their Pokemon in Pokeballs were one thing, even if maybe forced to be stuck with their *owners* regardless but someone like Volo... the closest thing to the Poketrainer he knew of the present.

He listened to Togetic, confirmed he could hear Pokemon's voices by relaying what Togetic had said, all good things from knowing Volo since hatching from an Egg, partnering up together as a Gingko Guild Merchant using Togepi's cheeriness to soothe customers and showing out and yet protecting the very young Togepi in the world that they promised to do the same for Volo...

It left Volo stunned, for more reasons than one, and also he definitely asked N whether he can talk to a deity. The answer is maybe because he would like to talk to Legendaries (cough Kyurem cough)

Their interests was piqued by one another and an exchange was made, with a trust somewhat forged between them after N's secret was out and Volo was the only one to lend a helping hand. N expressed his desire to find Kyurem and Volo would like to know more about Hisuian legends but he would see what he could do.

I'm not making a full fic of this, because first of all, this is a vibe and aesthetic SO SKIP ENTIRELY TO THE POKE WIELDER VOLO VS TEAM PLASMA KING N because imagine how N feels about Volo when he has the Spooky Plate all along, was the reason why the space time rift existed which led to N being here in the first place and finally that he was leading N on to get the plates thanks to his success when Volo hadn't as much luck as N...

Yet Volo's monologue was something N understood as a somewhat nerd with a burning curiosity and passion about the questions left blank, which is why he was eager to seek out Truth and Ideals when Volo wanted to reach out to the Creator, even about a happier world because it was similar to how N wanted to do it even if Volo phrases it in a way that unnerves N and he now wonders about his own consequences...

Still, because Volo felt that N understood him more than anyone else, especially considering the fact that he got a bit of his life story out of Togetic and all that, also them being nerds together. He offered N that they could change the world together but N was wavering and while he did say he agree, they may differ on the ways that the world be remade. Because will Volo's world still have Pokemon or will they be separated as intended to?

They battle, only for their ideas of a different world. It was different than how N would envision because present wise, this might be the equivalent to hero vs hero, Reshiram vs Zekrom and for Volo, it felt different only because even when N was Arceus chosen with the Arc phone and all, N had similar ideals where he can't let questions go unanswered, with the burning drive and passion and it was easy enough to hate when someone so similar was chosen when he was not and rather chase a lesser legend but at the same time, N was an interesting character that fueled his own curiosity being the only person who can talk to Pokemon, who can understand and could even help him talk to a deity.

There was less ill will, more stake to the world but not to them despite their own personal stakes, not really duelling to the death but more like duelling each other for N to understand Pokemons' voices between each other and to see who's convictions were strong in battle while Volo wanted to understand the Arceus' chosen might, why he wanted to separate the black and white when he so obviously bonded with Pokemon like his own team who had his back in the harsh world of Hisui and so forth.

So we know Volo will have something like Cynthia's theme and also Girantina with Origin so it's like 8 Pokemon. So what does N have, that he can somehow summon because he straight up refuses Pokeballs, something he didn't do in B&W games I know but still somewhat canonical to his character. CALL IT ABUSING GAME MECHS ANYWAY AND SUMMON NOBLES USING ITEMS THAT COULD SUMMON TO BATTLE INSTEAD OF GETTING A RIDE.

Also, I'm going to throw in Kyurem for N because the time shennanigan stated in this, to look for Reshiram and Zekrom in his present, he... might have messed up with Unovan's past lore when he wanted to meet and understand Kyurem (DESPITE BEING IN HISUI BUT TELEPORT EXISTS AND HE WILL PRIOIRITZE) that ended up N hijacking a hero role somehow, able to summon Kyurem later and so forth. (I know this is in no way accurate but it makes the N vs Volo battle even more chaotic)

ALSO, N would be able to hear all of Volo's Pokemon team who somewhat knew about Volo's plan, understand the desire of a happier world but believe him going the wrong way about it and pleaded N to change both of their minds because when N wanted to battle for Pokemon liberation, the Pokemon steadfastly refused that notion and battled their hardest against it. Which led to an even battle to be honest.

And then there is GIRANTINA, when N somehow beat all of Volo's Pokemon down to their last HP that they struggle to hold on. And to hear confirmation from the PokeSatan themselves that Volo is indeed responsible in collaboration about the space time rift, agreeing with vengeance about kicking Arceus' ass and wanting to know what the Creator was thinking about this world...

From here, I'm going to make it a tiny bit anticlimatic when it is two legendaries Kyurem and Girantina who even through battle acted as the mediator between both Volo and N to reach a compromise because somehow they will end up as a tie, to the bitter end when both Pokemon refused to deal the final blow which both N and Volo knew what it meant.

N's convictions were not enough with a wavering heart that had met Legendaries and Pokemon like Volo who did not want the black and white world he envisioned which was something he respected out of Pokemon because they were friends and the journey proved that a mixture of gray, such a chemical reaction might not be such a bad thing after all.

Meanwhile, Volo still rather have the world a better place, but with N, he realized such a definition could differ for anyone. He realized what his Pokemon battling so hard for N meant, with the idea of what world recreation meant to his fellow partners that tried so hard for him but he honestly still wanted to win because he was kinda petty against the Arceus' chosen, about what makes one so special. It just meant PRIMARILY, he just wanted to seek out Arceus, wanted to know everything by solving Hisui's riddle to reach the end goal of a meeting and because he wished to be chosen as much as N was, to wield Arceus' power which he wished could also be right. And yet... despite everything sad and painful going through, a passion can cool even if curiosity could not and when everything just didn't seem to work in seeking out Arceus, to the point he would do anything, maybe now there will be a less destructive way. As for the world itself to making it a better place, maybe... that could be done by themselves, especially when nerding out with N and everything that happened by his own doing did make his world a better place. At least a little.

Girantina and Kyurem for their chosens, as they felt like they had words for the Creator themselves, realized the impasse enough to find out that both might have a goal they could compromise on and work together in the end. Seek out Arceus, kick their ass and get their questions answered.

For Volo and N's curiosity, whether it be for why this world, why people and pokemon are not separated, why do sad and painful things happen, it was something they can mutually agree upon.

In conclusion, if this fic ever be made because I cannot be bothered to look up B&W or P:LA or Pokemon lore in general to get this story done right, N and Volo will be somewhat semi-redeemed while being menaces together to search upon Arceus more as rabid researches than world destroying villains. Yeah, they can be redeemed AND be menaces together. Shoutout to the villains who had Legendaries on their side through friendship and partnership instead of being forced <33

Also, note in every way that because I'm practically biased to N and Volo in interpretation that it might not be completely accurate but I'm just letting out my crazy. As for plenty other charas who might make it to this fic such as Ingo, Cogita, Ghetsis to name a few, I wanted to focus on N and Volo BECAUSE I had too much thoughts about them. Also, imagining N breaking game mechs that no other Pokemon protag would do with how he's friends with every Pokemon while Volo already broke the 6 pokemon rule as a Pokemon antag... Glad to put this out here. Salute~

I have such a big soft spot for the early acts of Homestuck, but especially the beta kids and their interactions with each other. I dunno, I just appreciate their friendship and how they genuinely enjoy each other's company. Arceus Somehow Messes Up Girantina's Space Time Rift By Sucking Volo In To The Future, Hoping That Can Somehow Make A Problem Go Away (Spoilers, It WOULD, Time Paradoxes Aside, If Volo Wasn't Somehow Put In Unova Far Away From Sinnoh But Into Equally World Changing Liberation Talking To Pokemon N) - The Fic

I honestly don't know how but I blame Pokemon Masters for deciding that it was a great idea to dedicate and make N & Volo a thing in tag. Also note that this post as well as my previous Pokemon one might as well constitute as rough outlines because I actually am tempted to make these ideas into one big one-shot-ish but kinda connected fic with pending title 'Black & White Thinker Meets Legend Fanatic Arceus Seeker' where I would put N and Volo sides of introspection, snippets and yet focusing wholly on their dynamic where I conclude once again, that while they may hate each other, dive deep into philosophy partners, be legend nerds, disagree on a lot of things but reluctantly find common ground... I conclude that N and Volo would make each other semi-redemmed absolute menaces. In other words, Arceus messed up big time.

I know Cynthia and Volo would somehow make more sense but there's already a fic of it. And you don't understand the absolute chaos of putting two Legend seeking, world changing people with probable conflicting views into contact of each other, of different legendaries and... wait, that could be Cyrus and Volo too but I'm still stuck on the N and Volo mindset. I also blame that one art of 'Can you talk to god' to N and I was sold. This is kinda funnier because I'm using the N before the B&W so the Legend seeking might be even worse XDD.

But still, this idea poses a flip side and opportunities in pursuing multiple legendaries in seeking one answer. When I put N into the past based on my previous post, that just makes him the protagonist against Pokemon Wielder Volo in Hisui where N undergoes a journey which may change with differing views for Volo due to different protagonists but ultimately stuck in the antagonist role. NOW, putting Volo into the future, about at the start of B&W where Team Plasma starts this crazy Pokemon Liberation thing... that's when I make Volo take a journey as the protagonist opposed to Hilda / Hilbert although they are in the story but lowkey not making young kids do adult's work kinda vibe. This means the story follows the P:B&W vibe.

Well, getting to the aesthetic and vibe of the whole story...

You know, why don't space-time rifts suck people in instead of spitting people out? Why not have a left on the butterfly effect around the time Volo convinced Girantina to a partnership as both desparate to meet Arceus that they had to do something as drastic as the space-time rift. And Arceus was having none of that. Tried to stop them in his own way, made Volo yeet into the space-time rift and hope no time paradoxes or shenannigans get out of that. Also, since this was happening, make sure the Almighty Sinnoh won't be disturbed wherever Volo landed in, far away from Hisui / Sinnoh itself which would be the best.

Thus, by *cough* random *cough* chance that he landed in Unova, and discovered modern Pokeballs, the completed Pokedex and the modern world. Also, he realized he was in the future because of all places to be spit out of was somewhere near the entrance of Undella Town, maybe some side forest so it was not noticeable so that when he entered the town, people shouted 'Cynthia?! When it's not summer or spring?! Giving us PTSD as if beating the heck out of us in Sinnoh is not enough???"

Well, not really the last sentence but it IS funny. In any case, when Volo realizes he has to be in the future, wonder whether this was some trial of Arceus and managed to tangle himself into Team Plasma, wanting to separate people and Pokemon and he came from Hisui... there were somethings he will not let stand. He will endure this trial, find out about the legendaries and see how things go. It also made things a lot more interesting when a person claiming to be able to talk to Pokemon has taken interest in him, as well as Legendaries Volo too was interested in.

So, what points can I make out of this craziness:

Volo gets sucked in through the rift with Togepi, that is non-negotiable! Also Girantina messing up the space-time rift and Volo going for the ride... what will Girantina do? Hmm~

He has striking resemblance to Cynthia and hearing frrom the Sinnoh region along with modern technology advancement with the complete work of the Pokedex was enough for Volo to know he was from the future, and into a world that was kinder to Pokemon and Pokemon kinder to people considering Hisui was a do-or-die survival when there can be agressive attacking Pokemon.

Quickly adapting to the situation, he presents himself as a humble budding merchant with a Togepi not exactly native to Unova that would make customers happy etc etc. Trying to get use to the modern world and the limitless knowledge presented, Volo scoured through Sinnoh's history and happenings, wondering whether the future would offer newfound insights to the Creator Arceus and so forth. He was also interested enough of the modern world to become a photographer as a passing hobby to commemerate his time in the future.

God does prove elusive in its own way, but what Volo found surprising and a tad concerning was that there was an evil organization that tried to summon Dialga and Palkia with the Red Chain in order for creating a new world and was stopped by Girantina of all Pokemon into the Distortion World... wait, what? WHAT HAPPENED, GIRANTINA?

Also, the future was nuts. What do they mean that there are evil organizations plotting world domination using Legendaries as if it was easy to control and use them without getting attacked and dying from them?! Volo knew that was hypocritical if people didn't know he had to negotiate with Girantina on his usefulness and their shared desire against Arceus. It was also surprising that no one had yet thought to seek out Arceus for themselves, whether for the good or the bad that left God so elusive but not the other Legendaries... Maybe Volo will be the first.

But because of what happened to Palkia, Dialga and Girantina, it would be too hasty to try anything like Sinnoh's evil organization did. Also, he felt unsure about Girantina's alleigance and did not plan to be pulled into the Distortion World when there was far more things he could do here. Still, there is a need to do something major to capture Arceus' attention, even more so with burning questions and desires about why he was here in the future, in Unova and whether this world that was made was really for the better.

The future was better than his present that he had no urgency to return to, and even though Girantina was the one who made the space-time rift that sucked Volo in, both he and Girantina knew it was some otherworldly force that brought upon Volo's circumstances. It wasn't hard to figure Arceus may be behind it simply if he wanted to stop two renegades... but he conceeded that was an assumption.

Also, why Unova of all place instead of Sinnoh unless someone wanted him far away from where Arceus resides. Plus, Volo is broke and even if he wanted to travel to another region, he would be stuck in Unova. Time to use his merchant skills to use, but until then, he wondered what he could do. Intel gathering, whether people know of the Plates. The concerning evil organization appearances starting from Kanto, not that that one mattered as much but it was a curious pattern. And Volo was nothing if not guided by the curiosity to uncover and know more.

Volo would be proven right, when he happened to find himself among the audience about a man claiming for Pokemon liberation... excuse me???? For a person who had come in an era when people and Pokemon partnered together to figure out how to survive through the wild agressive regions, of learning what people had once feared of Pokemon and bonding together to understand and live with the mysterious creatures only Arceus knows why they live together, the funny thing about the whole idea, from even the idea that people push around Pokemon and they should be liberated for *equality*. Like they weren't in Pokeballs as much in his time and no one understood so fear was the only option because to think that humans can actually push around Pokemon... well, there were evil organizations, but has anyone ever known how agressive Pokemon in general were??? People feared Pokemon at the time BECAUSE they are not ones to be pushed!

Volo wondered whether there was a way to bet that Team Plasma was certainly an evil organization so he can get money out of this. Considering the pattern he learned from limitless access to information, about Legendary sightings in tandem with what any evil organization has done. Considering he was a little wary to tango with Sinnoh legendaries for now, and since he was in Unova anyway despite being more fond of Hisuian legends with endless curiosity about his home land, since he was here...

Cue N approaching Volo instead of the B&W protags because before the whole speech thing, Volo had taken out Togepi in the interest of making customer connections and information gathering and be told by N about hearing Togepi's voice, of saying incredibly weird things in N's opinion.

And Volo was like, "You can TALK to Pokemon???" and N was like, "You can't, that's a shame..." But wait, what?! There are people who can TALK to Pokemon??? While wondering how people who fear Pokemon would take in such a thing or this was potentially a scam but there are many possibilities in this Arceus made universe, N interupted his thoughts by asking a battle out of Volo with a Purrloin already rearing to go despite being slightly uncomfortable about it and saying he would like to hear their voices.

The battle ended up being a tie (you can't make me choose who wins! Antag vs Antag feels too equal for me to even bear to do it), and Volo used his stock up potions to heal them, claiming he was at the ready with mercantile needs especially for a potentially prized customer like N, surprising the man. But whatever for, when a person who can talk to Pokemon was someone Volo wasn't going to let go THAT easily, and he had also been curious about what his Togepi had been saying for a mysterious man like N to approach him.

N hesitated a little but never underestimate a merchant's persistent and stubborn approach in securing the best customers added with a boundless curiosity and passion that made the determined Mr. even if it takes years, decades and centuries Volo. He gave in, deciding he would like clarification regardless about what Togepi had said and while he could ask himself, Volo would be within earshot anyway so might as well get it over with.

N said that throughout the whole speech, Togepi had been extremely confused by the idea of liberation, laughed at the idea of Pokemon being pushed by people when it was more likely for people to get attacked by Pokemon which led people to even fear Togepi during the merchant journey until Volo convinced customers about Togepi's cuteness and bringing out the happy and cute charm. Additionally, Togepi can't even think about living without Volo who helped raise it from the Egg and introduced the human world to Togepi which was much preferable than the harsh wilderness. N would like clarification.

This sealed the deal that N really can speak to Pokemon, which Volo reserved doubts for because it did sound like an impossible idea, but knowing this much and the fact that Togepi was looking at Volo with shock confirmed a lot of things.

Volo claimed this a merchant's secret because he came from a faraway place, but did reveal that where he came from, people had feared Pokemon and Pokemon had aggresive tendencies to even attack people that could result in death, which led to the idea that people pushing Pokemon ludricous when they have the power to breathe fire, summon thunder and waves and cause natural disasters. Even if there was a need for equality like what had been preached before, Volo determinedly stated that there was a reason they were living together with Pokemon, so the bond and understanding that they were doing with the Pokeballs and the Pokedex were huge leaps to what was previously unknown and feared...

Pushing on the attack especially with the confirmation that N can talk to Pokemon, Volo slyly asked whether N ever wanted to speak to the Pokemon deity that had created their world like this, to its current time especially considering people have such views like liberation.

N seemed startled by the question, but confessed it was something he too wanted an answer, as a newfound Trainer who wondered about this black and white world mixing into gray...

Volo decided that they may share common interest and his service was available, gifting him a free Potion (Volo's backpack was full of such needs even if it were outdated but he could somehow find a way to sell it off as the modern version) and that may their paths cross again. Volo was too late in catching up with N, in hopes of a partnership and travelling together. Shame, he wondered what insights such a mysterious man could give the next time they meet.

While continuing to sell wares to others after his mysterious encounter with N, he would meet other Trainers, quite different than the Wielders that people of his time wanted to become at the creation of Pokeballs when it came to their survivals and found yet another interesting customer in the B&W twins, Hilbert and Hilda. Mostly because they introduced Volo accidentally about the wonders of finding prized goods in the wild grass and how anything is up for grabs in people's houses like it's no big deal and that it was OK. It just meant more wares to get and be sold off, in exchange for valuable customers.

Volo had no interest in the Pokemon League and the Gym circuit run that Trainers do although he does find and catch Pokemon alongside Togepi just to get through the fanatic Pokemon battles that seem to happen throughout the journey, in an interest of getting stronger or because of Team Plasma, which was really an evil organization for stealing Pokemon as a guise to push through liberation which was even worse than the notorious Miss Fortunes. He prefered, above all things, just to be a humble merchant aiding Trainers as potential customers in exchange for who only knows what when it comes to his elusive character.

At one point, in searching through the museums and wondering about the Unovan legends, Zekrom and Reshiram as Ideals and Truths to once again meet N, who too noticed the interest which was shared and had given thought to asking Pokemon deity about how the world was made. About the truth of pokemons inside Pokeballs, the ideals for Trainers and so forth. They battle once more, for Volo to come out on top this time around even just barely and once again using his wares to heal up Pokemon. Even though Pokemon Centers exist, but it's just a habit~

When N confesses the idea of using Zekrom to realize his Ideals and change the world, Volo wondered inwardly whether using Unovan legendaries, with the concepts of Ideals and Truth was possible to get Arceus to pay attention... in any case, this time around, with a man as determined as N, a valuable customer indeed, Volo professes he wanted to get to know N better.

They travel together for a while when N cannot say no to Mr. Determined and found out that N was a Trainer doing the PokeLeague Gym Circuit, with the habit of releasing Pokemon after battles and asking Pokemon at their area for help to battle Gyms which somehow works??? How does N train those newly caught Pokemon to go through battle with ease?

They travel on-and-off together because N had other things to do, a shady kind which he had to hide away from Volo and that piqued his interest regardless. Meanwhile, Volo was fine travelling without N at times because what's there to nag about when the people in houses were perfectly fine with him taking off items to be used as wares or that things found in wild grasses are finders keepers (a certain B&W protag would cuss out in frustration why there are less things for their taking lol)

Also, Volo was mulling over the idea about seeking power and strength from the dragons of Truth and Ideals as a hero, the idea in modern times to use the PokeLeague where the strongest trainer has a say to how this era was ran on, that can effectively change the world. Not remake the world, if Volo were to meet Arceus, conquer such power etc but to just change it for the future.

Somehow, that reminds me about what Volo said, about Calaba that 'she did not hate the Diamond Clan or Galaxy Corps but she loved the Pearl Clan very much'. I think something similar could be applied to Volo, in a way... 'It wasn't that he hated the world (with his interest in the mysteries of the past or the desire to complete the Pokedex or that he likes taking pictures as commemeration, something that a person without an interest to the world wouldn't do...) but he loved the idea of meeting Arceus very much (that MUST... when nothing really worked so maybe he went through drastic measures, but seriously who knows. Passion flying off the rails CAN take dark turns. Not an excuse or a justification, but a potential speculation for everything that went down. No way in this universe will you convince me he's pure villain after all. Just dangerously determined and passionate)' He wondered whether it was possible to change the world enough, in question of all the sad and bad things to happen with his own hands instead of using Arceus. Still doesn't change his desire to meet Arceus with his endless questions.

Again, just ideas so not exactly full fic-ing this, but let's go to a total fave part when Volo was fed up with Team Plasma goons, like leave this merchant alone already. Evil organizations are really the enemy to merchants, as if the trio thief Miss Fortunes were bad enough in his time. Sheesh. And then he meets N, goes up to a ferris wheel and then claims he's the King of Team Plasma, who wants to liberate Pokemon separately into black and white and use the power of Zekrom to take on the Champion, become one and use such power to order people to releasing their pokemon. For the perfection of Pokemon.

Volo be like, AND YOU THINK IT'S OK TO DO THAT WITHOUT ASKING WHAT ANYONE ELSE, OR POKEMON THINK??? That there might be Pokemon who don't want to be liberated, that people and Pokemon are happy together? That in this Arceus-made universe with all this happening, with heroes making the regions all over the world side by side with Pokemon somehow as far as history says... excuse me what?

Volo also desires a world change, but what makes this right? Why would a person who can talk to Pokemon, an example of people and Pokemon getting along well, will advocate for such a thing? It was questions he relayed to N, and N in turn, would say what about the Pokemon who had suffered under the hands of human, those that did not go along well...

It was going super extreme but Volo would be a massive hypocrite if he were to point that out. N declared his intent and had sensed that Volo might be the other hero to stop his ideals in face of the truth, ever since what Togepi had said, their talks about the Legendaries and the questions posed towards N that made him think through. This was enough for N to want to understand more...

Even though Volo did say he wasn't interested in the PokeLeague, N actually encouraged him to do the Gym Circuit, ironically despite his aversion towards Pokemon battles and never wanting his friends to be hurt. Apparently with the way the PokeLeague was made, Gym battles and the badges had active and passive benefits in exploring the entirety of Unova, from using HM cut for blocking trees to Strength to move around boulders in the way and that badges were a sign that Trainers can face off the stronger Pokemon around the area etc. It made Volo wondered how the PokeLeague really came to be and how it became so complicated... and restrictive.

Ah well, I would have wondered how Volo can follow N's wish, from following him all the way to the Championship without doing the Gym Circuit but even then I don't think Mr. Can Use 8 Pokemon At Once In A Pokemon Battle could pull that off. So, ah well Volo doing the Gym Circuit for convenience it is.

Do not underestimate the skills that Volo has as a ruin searcher to meet N who eventually found and tamed Zekrom, a rush of power as inspiring for a Legendary and was told to found Reshiram.

Volo finding the White Stone before even the actual B&W protags and the League itself, which is start of being menace. Then again, that menace started when Volo learned the protag game mech of finders keepers which he gladly used for himself.

I'm skipping a lot of things still to Pokemon Wielder Volo VS Team Plasma King N where Volo already caught Reshiram from the Light Stone first thing he acquired from because don't underestimate Volo's uncanny ability in negotiating with mutual benefits between him and a Pokemon especially with his research on ancient legends, even if his Unovan one is rusty unlike Hisuian. A battle of two heroes splitting a Pokemon into two, two halves and wondering whether they wanted to be made whole. 'Don't you wonder... would you desire to find the Truth with me...?' SOLD! Partnership for life. Prove me wrong that only N and Volo have used Legendaries without any force unlike what other teams have done. By the power of friendship and partnership. Gotta love those antags.

The problem was inspiration for Volo's team. Like, how do I make it Unovan but still feel Cynthia about it. Honestly, can you even find Spiritomb in Unova??? Thankfully, there is Togekiss and Lucario, which Volo caught as a Riolu and Internet told me that they can be found in Unova thank Arceus. Also, Volo will have an Eevee that... hmm, evolve into an Umbreon. Because there is also Reshiram... or do I want Volo to go back to his roots in more than 6 Pokemon with Reshiram appearing later after all his 6 Pokemon are defeated. Choices... Togekiss, Lucario, Umbreon... Eelektross because Cynthia has it. I'm interested in using Genesect, which is fascinating for Volo despite not being a scientist of that level but at the same time, boundless curiosity~

Damn, when compiling his Poketeam, there is no way I am hitting that OG 12 typing like he somehow did in P:LA. Damn, anyone who has better ideas better back me up later on. But pre-Reshiram, he did have a team of six and he was gonna cheat Volo style anyway so let's go~ Lemme search up the Unovan Pokedex real quick and checking out potential Pokemon...

Dangit, it was between Liligant because of Hisuian Liligant and the fact she was one of the Nobles back in P:LA or Amoonguss for the double-typing and I wanted Volo's team to be more versatile. I even considered Jellicent... but Liligant won out because even though she's not Hisuian Liligant, still...

Togekiss because Volo's OG. Lucario and Umbreon because they evolve through friendship and although Cynthia has a Glaceon, I wanted Volo's Eevee to evolve through friendship. I can make up a funny story of how Volo acquired Genesect considering they were more B & W 2 Pokemon but this is for purposes, unknown timeline aside, as a sticking point of N on what Team Plasma has done to Pokemon and the hypocrisy of it. Most certainly the hypocrisy. In any case, Genesect is Volo's Pokemon sheerly with curiosity, understanding the modern world and giving the love like for those high friendship Pokemon that makes Genesect thrive under Volo's care.

I explained Eelektross already. Considering N and subsequently Ghetsis' Team, especially with Volo's endgame more than 6 Pokemon per battle cheat. And that Togekiss is FAIRY too which is brought over from Hisui into Unova that has yet to know about the typing... Salute. Hahahahaha

Get my man Volo to fight N through the power of friendship, hypocrisy and the Cynthia theme flashbacks, a bit more... distorted (XD) and warped because the Pokemon is not all the same but still.

There, N would the horror at what Genesect conveyed to him, about the friendship Pokemon Wielder Volo has with his Pokemon, considering it takes friendship to evolve these Pokemon and that the Aura Pokemon Lucario cannot be deceived which was told in no uncertain ways.

And also Volo was talking to N throughout the battle, about their ideas of the Pokeball and the Pokedex, about history and heroes, about what should have been learned in the past to make note of the present. That they both realized, throughout this journey together, that this imperfect world... could still be left as is, with the mixed in gray for a chemical reaction that might lead to a better future as Volo knew it and that N finally realized.

Will that stop Volo from seeking Arceus, from asking a multitude of questions and also conquering Arceus because why was he put upon this trial and what is still unworthy of him despite this journey???

Volo's semi-redemption arc that would leave him a menace to Arceus regardless, but there's, um... some chara development regardless.

N's kinda redeemed just like B&W, no semi to it at all now that I think about it but he will be kinda a menace. Nagging at Volo's menace but still menace-y since this was enough to have a score to settle with Team Plasma and the idea of talking to Pokemon deity as Volo said for any unending questions, which N still has despite his understanding on Pokemon, was appealing. 'Why are there Pokemon in our world? Why do they exist? Why is the world the way it is?' (this is taken from anime, and I can see some parallels with Volo, because their curiosity. How N MUST know why because he couldn't accept the gray and maybe, despite the battle, the understanding of a chemical reaction to greater things, he valued the happiness of Pokemon and wanted no consequence from the chemical reaction on that... and how Volo MUST know Arceus. Not perfect parallels, like how Volo & Cynthia, or Volo & Cyrus sure but it is telling.)

In any case, mid-battle, Volo convinces N to help him set off a new journey for all these unanswered questions, the power of speaking to Pokemon much desired in this endeavour. And from hero-to-hero, when N was about to lose with a wavering heart, N saw no reason to refuse this newfound partnership and a fresh journey to find oneself.

Cue Ghetsis coming, absolutely mad at N's loss and berating the human without any heart with the confirmation evil organization style that he was using the liberation of Pokemon so Ghetsis could use all Pokemon for world conquest style. Talk about arrogance.

And unlike with N, Volo held nothing back, breaking the six pokemon rule THROUGHLY because DO YOU THINK THAT I FORGOTTEN ABOUT GIRANTINA? SUCK IT, HAVE 9 POKEMON BEATING UR ASS, GHETSIS!

Girantina came at this moment from the Distortion World, the one that accidentally sucked Volo into the space-time rift to see how his partner is doing since Volo was the power supplier for when they need to battle against Arceus thanks to solving enough of Hisui's riddles to figure out that much. Mind and might together~

Girantina took one look at the Unovan legendaries, Volo facing off against Ghetsis and how wounded N looked and it was enough for the trump cards of all trump cards to lend a hand.

Ghetsis passed out after Volo gave a whooping, and N took one look at Volo before asking, "You came from Hisui, a name of the past Sinnoh, and you wanted to do what to Arceus?"

One look at Girantina was enough to know who let that one out, since N can speak to Pokemon, and Girantina was surprised because it wasn't like Girantina had switched voices to convey what was once thought at this crazy situation and the desire to have Volo back for their continued partnership in Hisui.

Volo kept that one close to his chest because like anyone would actually believe that. And revealing something like that to anyone else was more trouble than worth, and N was not exactly happy about it regardless.

So is there round 2, despite all the Pokemon having taken a beating. Well, no, because when the PokeLeague was 10 seconds from barging in, Girantina made the decision for all of them by somehow warping them elsewhere, still in Unova to take time and discuss things calmly. As Volo used his goated wares to heal every Pokemon there including all the Legendaries, and with partnerships that Volo had a promise to fulfill with the hope, at least on his end, would lead to Arceus.

Since the jig was up and N deserved to know by now what was really happening, Volo laid it out plainly. N gave him one look that told pretty simply, 'Like you are any better than the evil organisations???' But hey, it wasn't like he was going to pull a Ghetsis! And his plans to remake the world into a better one was already revised, with just the desire to knowing Arceus, a must that still grows ever stronger.

And 'Conquering Arceus'??? Well, that's what Girantina would want to do, and why not? By the blood of the ancient Sinnoh in his veins, can't he admit that he was just incredibly petty about why he was not chosen. Have a heart after everything he dedicated himself to, with his boundless passion and curiosity which was as much a blessing as it was a curse.

Dad (altho I don't think Volo and N have much an age difference) N has disapproval on his face, but can at least understand about the neverending questions. He was also curious, and in a way to repent what happened with Team Plasma, maybe he can do himself a service in keeping Volo in check. This will NOT stop those two being menaces in God seeking, because N who still wasn't well versed with people and Volo who was still not that caught up in the common sense of the modern world could do a little shake up.

Arceus can go back to shuddering and lamenting questionable choices.

N listening to the Pokemon also wouldn't mind aiding their quests from Girantina, Zekrom and Reshiram regarding the Legendaries because he would do anything for his friends.

I realize Volo is a bad influence for N but N is also a good influence for Volo and Volo did open N's eyes about this present that the past has no luxury of. So they can be great and terrible together.

Post B&W is basically Volo and N reinstating their partnership, starting from what Reshiram and Zekrom wanted in Unova, about the curiosity in Kyurem etc which also meant N can make amends with Team Plasma and making sure everyone realizes their errors etc to going back to Sinnoh via the Dragons of Ideal and Truth in search of Arceus. Yeah, here, N does not fly and run away despite his status. That doesn't stop them from trying to avoid the PokeLeague and realize the pros and cons with them.

You know what Post B&W comes with, in a certain place in Undella Town as Volo went back to the protag ways Hilda & Hilbert taught him in securing wares, much to N's disapproval? That's right, meeting Cynthia. The one he was mistaken for?

By Palkia and Dialgia, when Volo realized with such uncanny resemblance that he might have a descendant or maybe Mistress Cogita, does a paradox or something dangerous happen? Huh? No? Is it the will of Arceus? Can it be more specific?

Either way, Cynthia and Volo felt a connection and double piano horror with N as a referee and understanding two Generations' PTSD by witnessing the 6 v 6 (because this was a friendly match and far be it for Volo to pull out Legendaries out of nowhere and have suspicion laid on him) that was frankly even when they have similar Pokemon such as Togekiss, Lucario and Eelektross. Volo had never felt more energized in a battle and Cynthia felt the same. In this newfound connection, he realized Cynthia was also from Sinnoh and because people have mistaken him for her, the Champion of Sinnoh... who might have been involved in the evll org at Sinnoh that had Palkia, Dialga and Girantina. Cue innocent questions~

From here on, I don't really have a proper ending to it, just rambles of ideas because I swear N & Volo is now my underrated, will die for, platonic relationship. I just know it will be chaotic shenanigans, exploring Legendaries and ruins in a partnership (not so different from a budding friendship) and I will also die on the hill those two in pre-demption can be menaces together and even if they were redeemed semi or all the way, they will still be menaces... towards Arceus. Seriously, live with thou choice XD.

But if you want to ask me what ending I can potentially see is that the Unovan and Sinnoh Legends are further explored enough to explain all this craziness and to set things right, historically and so forth. Also, whether Volo will actually stay in the future or not, by Dialga, this paradox will have to end one way or another, but at least in a good note. Maybe~ And have Palkia and Dialga join Girantina because by Arceus mess, they want to remain true to what they are assigned Gods of and need help with this anamoly...

I wonder for anyone who stumbles upon this little blog post, whether they are convinced about N & Volo as I am, but it's mostly because I see two of my fave charas, see potential and go absolute slay. Like, comment and subscribe/hj
