Future Remains Bright as Pat McDonald Turns 70

There’s a party in Timbuk3 today as Pat McDonald turns 70.

Born Aug. 6, 1952, McDonald formed Timbuk3 with his then-wife, Barbara K., in 1984. Over the next decade, the couple put out a half-dozen albums before going their own ways personally and professionally.

Their music was and remains quirky. And Sound Bites loves them in the strangest way.

Since the breakup, McDonald has collaborated on songwriting with artists ranging from Cher, Stewart Copeland and Peter Frampton and recorded solo and with the Legendary Sons of Crack Daniels and Purgatory Hill.

His future remains bright, so break out the shades.
