Warnings: +18, MDNI, vaginal, creampie, handjob, making out, tim having a sir kink, tim being hot as fuck.
Words: 3.7K
tim bradford x fem!reader
It was the early morning of yet another exciting Monday on the job. Only this time you’re annoying yet hot training officer Tim Bradford wasn’t your training officer anymore. Finally you had freedom, even though it felt strange and almost sad even to not ride with him anymore it also felt like a weight lifted off your shoulders. You were deep in thought making your to go-cup of iced coffee when a familiar voice pulled you out of your thoughts.
“Well good morning, you’re awake early.” Jackson grinned in the hall leading to his room. He had been your roommate for about 2 years now and after the academy, joining the LAPD out in the real world, called for a friend who knew what you went through. “Yes of course! It’s our first day of freedom. I’m planning on making it the best day ever so I’m going to be on time and prepared. I don’t want my first day to be a failure, I need to prove to Tim that I don’t need him anymore.” You responded to Jackson while pouring the hot coffee over to the to-go cup.
“You know you don’t need to prove yourself to Tim, he knows how good of a cop you’ve become. I mean I get it but still, today will be great. I just know it.” Jackson said as he walked up to you and gave an encouraging pat on your shoulder. “So no coffee for me?” He asked, pretending to look sad as he watched you add the ice. “Sorry, sorry I’ll make some for you too.” You laughed. When you finished up Jacksons coffee as well you two walked out to your car and headed to the station.
After changing into your uniform you headed into roll call while also pretending not to look for your ex-training officer. You took your seat, now in the second row, and talked excitedly to John about the next phase in your career. Some time passed and everyone had taken their seat, Tim as well, but you pretended not to notice his grumbley voice in the early morning. Something you came to appreciate over the years working with him. However you quickly shut up when sergeant Grey walked in. “Good morning everyone, let’s begin today with congratulations to our rookies who are now P2’s. Good job officer Nolan, West and (Y/L/N) it’s not every year that all the rookies pull through. However this new found freedom without your T.O’s does not mean that you’re off the hook, you’ll still be monitored only you now call your own shots. That would be all for this morning, good luck out there.” Grey finished and you smiled at Jackson and John who were both seated on either side of you.
When you walked out of roll call you caught a glimpse of Tim walking behind you and joining you at your side. “Just because you’re not my boot anymore doesn’t mean that you can slack off now, understood?” Tim lectured as he looked at you sternly. “Of course sir, I wouldn’t dream of it.” You responded with a slight smile, you couldn’t help but think he needed to lecture you one last time before you went out on your own but just as you were about to point that out to him Jackson joined your “conversation”. “(Y/n) we should ride together today, already got it approved by Grey.” Jackson smiled. “That sounds great Jackson, let’s grab our gear.” Jackson agreed and you wished Tim good luck today as you headed to grab your gear. You and Jackson then set up the shop and left to go out on patrol. After a couple of calls that were fairly timid you drove yourself and Jackson to the food trucks nearby where your fellow officers were already enjoying a well deserved lunch. The day went on pretty swiftly with nothing major other than a robbery in a convenience store. When the suspect was processed you got called over by Lopez wanting to talk to you about a woman allegedly adding tiger blood in her skin care line and asking if you could join Tim in interrogating her as you were always good at getting a confession out of suspects and Tim could use a hand.
You accepted the challenge and headed over to the interrogation room where Tim and the woman would be. The door creaked as you opened it, Tim’s eyes on you as you entered the room and stood beside him. “I’m officer (Y/L/N), I will be asking you some questions, Mrs Carter is it?” You asked the older woman sitting opposite of Tim. “Yes, but I don’t understand. Officer Bradford is already questioning me.” Mrs Carter almost sneered, clearly she wasn’t happy with the situation. “Well Mrs Carter I am here to uh... learn, I haven’t been on the job long and need some experience, so I hope you won’t mind.” You quickly answered, glancing at Tim who was standing next to you, looking a bit annoyed. “I understand that you recently started your own skin care line?” You asked her while skimming through her file. “Yes we’re a small operation but we’re growing.” She smiled proudly. “We’re hoping to get a write up in Goop.” She continued. “I-I don’t know what that is.” Tim looked at you confused. “I’ll explain later.” You told him, putting the file down. “A friend of yours gave us your night cream, she claimed that it contains tigers blood, like, literally blood from an endangered animal.” You stated. “Firms the skin right up.” She smiled, as if this was completely normal. You almost gasped at her quick confession and looked surprised at Tim before you pointed out, “Participating in the endangered animal trade could land you in jail for up to five years.”
“You don’t understand the wellness game. It’s cutthroat. I need to stand out. How else am I gonna compete with Sloan and her vitamin business? I mean everybody knows that her B-12 rejuvenation pills are just benzos in fancy bottles.” She mused while crossing her arms. Tim gave you an astonished look, which you returned. “Um, she’s selling psychiatric drugs?” You asked the woman. “Oh, the whole ‘westside buffet.” Mrs Carter shrugged. “What’s Sloan’s last name?” Tim exhaled, knowing that this was going to be a dragging one. After some time you and Tim found the woman Mrs Carter had talked about and she was brought in the interrogation room where you two waited for her.
“Take off your sunglasses, ma’am.” Tim sighed at the woman with the big round sunglasses while she was crossing her arms. “Do I have to? These fluorescent lights give me vertigo.” She asked, annoyed. “Okay well that could be the least of your worries. We’ve been informed that you’re selling psychiatric drugs as a vitamin.” Tim continued. “Who said that?” The woman scoffed, now taking off her sunglasses. “Doesn’t matter.” Tim cut her off. “I’m helping people. What’s the problem?” She expressed. Tim rolled his eyes. “You can’t prescribe a controlled substance without a medical license.” You told her. “My husband is a doctor, it's the family prescription pad.” The woman said as if it was obvious. “Yeah that’s not a thing.” You objected, you could feel that Tim was over it. “Look I don’t think you’re hearing me, this makes you a drug dealer.” Tim explained, now getting more irritated. “And given the circumstances a pretty high level one. You could be looking at twenty years in prison.” He continued. “What?! No, no, no, no, no. This whole thing has gotten terribly out of hand. Who ratted me out anyway?” She stuttered. “It was Aston wasn’t it? She’s been trying to break me down ever since I stole her portrait painter. Like she needs to be hung on a wall. You want a real crime to chase? Aston’s trying to hire a hitman.” She claimed almost proudly. “Wh- What do you mean?” You asked her confused. “Her husband's worth more dead than alive, so she’s been on the dark web trying to hire someone to kill him.” She smiled. You and Tim both sighed and looked at each other, this was bigger than you thought. The both of you knew what you had to do, so with permission from Grey, Tim would go undercover as a hitman to try and get the woman to say word for word she wanted her husband dead.
After you got the equipment sorted in the van you waited for Tim to arrive in the parking lot with the Mercedes as the setup vehicle, while the van you were in was parked next to him. You heard a car arrive and opened the door of the van to greet Tim who was now parking the car. “Okay, oh... that’s your disguise?” You asked him smiling, he looked like a completely normal man, not at all like a criminal. “This is what real hitmen look like.” He scoffed as he now stood in front of you. “That is not the point. Come on, get in.” You said ushering him inside the back of the van. He sighs while stepping in the van, sitting down as you climbed in as well, closing the sliding door behind you before you took a seat close to him. “What I’m wearing is fine.” He claimed. “Okay, third rule of undercover work. Know your audience. You are not trying to fool another criminal. You’re trying to fool a woman who gets her ideas about crime from Lifetime movies. Put it on” You explained as you hold the black blazer out to him. “Fine.” He said as he almost ripped the blazer out of your hands. “Thank you.” He removed his open zip up hoodie and instead put the blazer on. “Oh my god.” He scoffed, knowing he looked ridiculous. “Yeah, that’s much better.” You smiled. “I look like an idiot. I’d pull me over in a heartbeat.” Tim sighed. “Exactly, because you look the part.” You said while handing him the earpiece. “Alright mic me up, let’s get this over with.” Tim said as he raised his shirt, revealing his toned abs. You tried to play cool but couldn’t help taking a peek as you peeled the back of the sticker part of the mic off and reached over to stick it on Tim’s chest. “It's a little too high.” Tim said as you stuck the mic on him. “I know what I’m doing.” You said slightly annoyed. You checked the mic and waited for the woman as she should be at your location soon, so Tim moved over to the Mercedes, while you moved so you could listen in and record their conversation.
After some time the woman pulled into the parking lot and Tim stepped out of the car. She pulled up next to him, turned off the engine and rolled down her window. “You made sure you weren't followed?” Tim asked her as he leaned down near her window. “Yes. I drove around in circles for like half an hour.” She said with a smile on her lips. Tim then entered the car as you watched closely, the thought of his toned abs still in your mind. “So, how does this work?” The woman asked curiously. “Well, that's up to you. Your ad indicated you have a problem with your husband?” Tim started. “Yes. I need him to not be alive anymore.” She told him. “Hm, that’s not gonna be enough. We need her to spell it out.” You told Tim in his ear piece. “Do you want it to look like natural causes? A suicide? Homicide?” Tim continued. “Must be a lonely kind of life being a hitman.” She flirted. “It can be.” Tim tried to answer her neutrally. “So you’re not seeing anyone?” She asked. “Oh my god. She’s hitting on you.” You laughed in Tim’s earpiece. “No, not at the moment.” Tim confessed. “You see the thing is the fee varies depending on the method, so I need you to tell me what you want.” Tim tried to press on, only the woman seemed interested in something else. "Ooh. What I want changed a little when you got in the car.” She flirted while putting her hand on Tim’s that rested on his knee. “Wait, is she touching you? She’s touching you, isn’t she?” You laughed again through his ear piece, enjoying this a little too much while Tim is a bit stumped but stays in character. “Look I am down to do whatever you want.” Tim said. “Yeah you are.” You chuckled softly in the ear piece. “I just want the business out of the way first.” Tim continued. “So it’s 20.000 for a straight murder, 25 if you want it to look like suicide.” “Sexy, I’d pay you twice that to kill the bastard.” She said while leaning in a bit. “And the bastard is?” Tim smiled. “My husband obviously.” The woman smirked. “Yes, got her.” You said in Tim’s earpiece. “You know once he’s dead, I’ll be a very wealthy woman.” She smiled. “You’re under arrest.” Tim said while holding up his badge. Finally you got her, so you called for backup on the scene so the woman could be taken to the station in a police car. Tim walked back over to you, you still being in the back of the van. “Well great job we got her.” You smiled as you took off your headset and let Tim in the van. “She really was thirsty, my god.” He said while closing the sliding door behind him and getting in to remove the blazer. You sat across from him secretly watching, hoping to get another glance at his toned chest. Tim lifted his shirt to remove the mic and handed it to you.
“What is it?” He asked you, shit he caught you. “What- Nothing I- I just waited for you to hand me the mic!” You stammered out, a deep blush creeping on your skin and on the tips of your ears. “Really? You didn’t want a show?” Tim grinned, clearly amused by your embarrassment. “No I did not! What are you even talking about!” You scoffed now looking away from him, but still close enough for him to see your blushing features. “I saw you looking earlier, I don’t blame you.” He said looking you up and down. You were in your own clothes as you weren’t on patrol and you were wearing a white sundress with pretty blue flowers all over it. You looked down at your lap shyly. Then you felt Tim coming closer and he grabbed your chin to make you look at him. “(Y/n) are you attracted to me?” He spoke softly, with his sultry voice. “What- no I wasn’t even- no I don’t- I don’t know... maybe?” You stuttered now your face was really burning, not only from the embarrassment that you were attracted to your superior officer but also from the touch of his fingers on your chin. “So you are.” Tim smirked, clearly enjoying your reaction. You however still looked away from his piercing blue eyes, knowing that once you gave in, you couldn’t look away. “(Y/n) look at me.” Tim instructed, grasping your chin a bit harsher but not as to hurt you. You gave in and looked at him, at his handsome features, his stubble, his pretty eyes and his perfect hair. He was almost too much, and the smell of his delicious cologne wasn’t helping either.
He looked directly in your eyes as well and leaned in closer, the tips of your nose touching, lips a breath apart. You could feel your heart beating out of your chest and your breathing became heavier. After a moment he closed the gap between you and claimed your lips with his. His lips were even better than you could’ve ever imagined, soft and pillowy but slightly chapped as well, which for some reason made them even better. As you kissed him back you felt like your entire body was on fire, you moved your hands from his knees to his neck, holding on for dear life, feeling if you let go, you would lose him forever. He moved his right hand to your cheek while the other pulled you in his lap by your waist, now moving his right hand on your hips as well. The kiss got more heated and his tongue prodded at your bottom lip, begging for entrance, you let his tongue in and met his with yours. At that moment you couldn’t help but let out a tiny whimper between kisses. He softly groaned against your lips and his grip on your waist got tighter, he moved you to be right on his groin and gave your hips a squeeze as if asking you to start moving. And you did, you couldn’t not move, the moment was almost overwhelming as you started moving right on his hard on. Your underwear grew wet and you started moving feverishly against him, and then you moved right over his tip causing him to moan in your mouth. His hands moved from your hips to your ass and he started to move you harder against him, the movements alone could make you finish. The fabric of his jeans and the hardness of his erection hitting your clothed clit perfectly. But much to your disappointment he stopped you.
“Sweetheart if you want me to finish already you should continue.” He smiled against your lips. “Let me make you feel even better first.” He whispered as you feel his hands moving from your ass to the inside of your thigh, slowly creeping towards your covered clit and moving his thumb over your bundle of nerves. You let out a loud gasp as he touched you, holding onto his biceps when he moved his fingers inside of your underwear. “Fuck you’re so wet for me. All because of me huh?” He murmured in your ear. He moved his fingers right over your clit, pressing a bit harder to see how you would react. You moaned at his touch. “Tim... please just- touch me, please.” You begged, already high off of his movements. “Maybe I won’t, maybe I like it when you beg for me.” He sighed against your ear, ever so slightly moving his middle finger over your clit. “Please just please touch me.” You continued to beg, needing any kind of release. “Please what sweetheart?” At his words you knew immediately what he wanted to hear, something that you realized he might have loved to hear you say for a long time. “Please touch me... sir.” You almost moaned in his ear. He groaned at this and started moving two fingers right over your wet clit. “Good girl, always knows how to address her superiors.” He breathed in your ear, you could feel him hardening under you even more. He then moved his two fingers inside you, your wet cunt almost sucking them in out of need.
As he fingered you the sound of your wet pussy, your moans and pleas and his heavy breathing could be heard vividly in the otherwise quiet van. “Yes, yes, please sir, please I’m so close.” You moaned in his ear, begging for release. At your words he sped up his fingers, curling them up and hitting that perfect spot inside of you, finally giving you mercy and letting you cum. “Good girl, that’s it. You gonna come for me sweetheart? You gonna cum on my fingers?” He ranted in your ear as the walls inside you contracted while you came, trying to not scream for the whole world to hear. “Oh my god, please I need you inside me Tim.” You begged him, wanting nothing more than to be filled by his big cock. “I’m on birthcontrol so just please fuck me already.” You pleaded, moving your hand to pull down the zipper of his pants and reaching inside his boxers, giving his cock relief. “Fuck, I can’t wait to be inside you.” He groaned against you. You removed his dick out of his pants and moved your hips right above him, sliding your soaked underwear to the side so you could slowly sink down on his aching cock. You both moaned at the feeling and you almost immediately started moving after you grew accustomed to his big size. Holding on to his neck you began moving up and down the noise of his snapping hips on yours and your moans filling the van. He then moved the top of your dress down causing your braless breasts to spill out, which Tim decided to knead. After a few moments he moved that same hand to your ass, under your dress and smacked it hard.
“Oh fuck... oh fuck, you feel so good sweetheart, keep moving just like that.” He grunted, completely enthralled by the feeling of your tight pussy around his dick. “You feel so good sir, just- so- fucking- good.” You moaned as you started moving faster, feeling another orgasm approaching. Tim wanted to fuck you even harder and moved you to your seat so he could put your legs on his shoulders and fuck you deeper which had you screaming in seconds. “Fuck! Tim! Yes! Please, faster, harder please!” You screamed, holding your thighs against you chest so Tim could fuck you deeper. He did as you asked and moved faster and rougher against you, seeking his own high. “Fuck baby I’m gonna cum, you gonna cum for me?” Tim moaned, moving his thumb to your clit and rubbing it in sync with his movements which made you snap, an overwhelming orgasm overtook you as you moaned his name, walls contracting tightly around his cock. The tight feeling of your wet pussy around him caused him to cum as well, filling you completely with his seed as he moaned your name. After some seconds of calming down he moved to sit down next to you as you felt his cum dripping out of you
“Jesus Christ, we need to work together again huh.” Tim chuckled.
“Definitely” You sighed contently.

Three days. It had been three days since Tim last saw your face. Three days since his purpose in life had been up and taken from him, as if it wasn't ever really there to begin with.
His alarm sounded off early with no remorse as the dreaded ringing disrupted his peaceful sleep with you next to him groaning to “please shut that damn thing off.” He had smiled at your unwillingness to succumb to the early morning, and kissed your forehead before promptly getting up and heading for the bathroom. Moments before he left he walked into your shared bedroom, giving you a quick “I love you” and a kiss on your lips even after your protests to morning breath, before heading out the door.
He had gone over the morning in his head as if it were a prayer. He had come home after his shift to immediate alarm bells ringing throughout his head, the handle on the door had been smashed, various items littered the hardwood floor, and splotches of blood smeared across the island counter in the middle of the kitchen.
His shouts of your name cut through the eerie atmosphere he called home as he was met with a silence that was impossibly loud, and with a frantic hand dialed 911 to report a missing person with the indication of foul play. He made sure to clear the house of any active threat, heart pounding every time he rounded a corner with the fear of seeing your lifeless body sprawled on the floor, he was unsure whether or not to feel relieved.
Just because you weren't dead in the house, doesn't mean you weren't dead period.
The image alone nearly made his knees buckle and heart give out on spot, he made his way outside to sit on the steps that lead to the beautiful house you two had bought together. His mind was racing with endless outcomes and possibilities, he was unaware of how much time had passed before blue and red lights came into his field of view, loud sirens just barely breaking him out of the rabbit hole he was falling down.
Grey arrived in his personal vehicle Luna fast on his heels, she had insisted on coming with the moment she heard Tim’s panicked and wobbling voice break through the quiet of their night. The four of you had gone on double dates a decent amount of times, and she’d be damned if Wade forced her to sit and watch while you were missing and Tim was breaking at the seams.
Tim recounted everything up until the moment everyone arrived, every text and moment shared between you two before you essentially went radio silent, the last two hours of Tim’s shift you hadn’t responded to his text asking if he needed to bring takeout home or if you two would make dinner together when he got home.
A feeling sat low in his gut warning him about your absence, but he ignored it, since he was in the middle of booking an important lead in a narcotics investigation. Guilt was eating his insides alive, yelling and clawing at his soul, damning him for not following through with the churning in his stomach, begging him to notice something before it was too late.
Everyone in the station was working overtime to figure out what exactly happened to you, Lucy and John went to ask people you had visited that day if they had seen you acting out of character while Angela and Nyla worked as the lead detectives in your case, all of them were left baffled and confused as nothing popped up with red flags.
No ransom note. No intimidating phone calls. No sign of you.
Tim refused to go home, refused just about everything until you were found safe. Lucy even called his sister begging her to knock some sense into her brother before he killed himself. She did the best she could by asking if he could at least sleep in a break room as long as she took his spot and kept him informed the moment she was told anything. He was reluctant but decided that the best way to find you was if he was well rested and in the right state of mind.
He woke up with a grunt, any sort of shut eye he attempted to get was flooded with images of you battered and bruised. Screaming out for him to save you, everytime he got close you were once again ripped out of his reach, his fingertips just grazing your hand before being brutally awoken but the reality that settled over him.
Making his way out of the breakroom he let his fingers roam over the kink in his neck, he looked around to find his sister combing through the only thing she was really allowed to do which was look over surveillance footage that you could have possibly shown up on.
The two sat there for hours of footage, pleading to whatever was listening to see you or something that could lead him to you.
Just before they moved on to the next camera Tim noticed an anomaly, a deep blue toyota came into his neighborhood at 9:47pm and left at 10:00pm with no regard for the stop sign lining the exit and a little more rush than when the driver entered. They did their best to follow the car through different intersections and for a split second the car had got on the interstate Tim noticed his back tail light had been kicked out and a bloody hand replaced it.
The heart pumping blood through his body stopped abruptly, his throat closed for a quick second before screaming out “I have her!”
Everyone gathered around, looking at the footage and urgently getting to work to find out who the vehicle belongs to and where to find them. Time felt as if it was moving at the speed of light, Angela announcing that she found the driver and giving his long list of charges.
Rage and fear coursed through Tim’s veins, his finger played with the metal band that decorated his hand so nicely, pleading with the world to not take you away from him. He had found the second half of his soul, you were his blood, you were his entire being, and if you were stolen away from him he would burn the world to the ground.
Luckily, the car was relatively new meaning it had a GPS chip attached to the cars system. Four to five cop suvs pulled up to the abandoned warehouse, metro and swat following close behind, it may have seemed excessive but you were one of their own, you brought homemade fresh cookies every friday, and knew everyone’s birthday ensuring everyone had a nice card and cake waiting for them after their shift. You made the station feel right and everything had felt off the moment your bright light was suddenly ripped away.
Cautious and careful swat went in first, sweeping the grounds before the rest came in with their gun raised and fury bleeding out of their eyes. Tim and Lucy cut a corner to the left, opening the three doors that lined the right side; at the last door they entered, disappointment started to drip down Tim’s spine. “Tim, we’ll find her, she got to b-” Lucy cut herself off when her eye caught an uneven side of the wall, narrowing her eyes she walked over and started lightly tapping and jimmying the part of the wall until it finally gave way and she moved it to the side revealing another room.
Tim felt his world pause when he noticed a body laying in view, he took a deep breath and went in through the hole the wall was covering. “Oh my god, baby, hey” Tim’s quick words met your ears, your wrists and ankles were chained together, and a gag was placed between your lips.
Tears fell down your cheeks at the touch of your lover, Tim took out the gag holding your face between his hands and gently moving your head around to check for any sign of head injury. Lucy was quick to try and take the chains off, hurrying to ask across the radio for bolt cutters which swat was fast at accommodating. The moment the chains were off you wrapped yourself around Tim, tucking your face into his neck while crying for him to take you home.
He held you close against him, giving you soft reassurances that he was going to take you home the moment the doctors said he could, “I'm never leaving you again, you hear me?” Tim whispered into your hair and carried you out into the safety of a police car. Metro called over the radio that your captor was found, and was going to be escorted out to a car.
You visibly tensed at the thought of seeing the man and Tim was quick to shut the door to the shop and calm you down to the best of his ability. “I was so scared” you admitted, keeping a white knuckled grip on his bullet proof vest, “i know, baby, i know” he empathized rocking you two side to side until the evil was gone and he was able to get you into the back of an ambulance, he quietly thanked everyone with a quick nod before the doors of the ambulance were slammed shut.
You had many cuts and bruises littering your arms and legs, only one serious cut that would require stitches but other than that you seem physically okay. Not once did Tim’s hand leave yours, you squeezed his hand like a lifeline, and he watched as you started to calm down, slowly talking you through breathing exercises and assuring you that you’re safe and with him.
Once the two of you had gotten to the hospital doctor’s were already on standby, and as was Wade. Tim explained to you he would be right outside and that he needed to talk to Wade, you nodded slowly with a glint of panic in your eyes that was quickly eased when Luna appeared to keep you company while the boys talked. She hugged you and made sure you had water and were as comfortable as you could be.
“The man who took her broke the moment Harper stepped in the room, he said he was looking for a nice house to be able to steal a couple of things to pay of his debts to his drug dealer” Wade paused, “taking a captive was never his plan but he explained she was a witness and he needed to take her because he didn’t want her calling the cops.” he finished with a bit of bewilderment in his tone. Wade continued to explain that you had fought him tooth and nail before he called one of his buddies who provided the chains and helped chain you up.
Tim felt a bubble of pride at how hard you fought your unwelcome guest and never let up even when you were chained, when he had seen you in the light he noticed the irritation on your wrists and ankles indicating your continuous pulling at the restraints. Tim softly thanked Wade before relieving Luna and replacing her in the seat right next to you, Tim could tell you were exhausted and mentally drained.
Fortunately the nurse had given you a bit of laughing gas to aid the pain of the stitches, by the end of the last thread you were on the verge of passing out. The doctor wanted you to stay overnight to watch out for signs of internal injuries they may have missed, Tim whispered sweet nothings into the air hoping you would fall asleep soon.
“Tim, can you lay up here with me?” your hoarse voice croaked out, not a beat was missed as he climbed up on the bed and got you as comfortable as possible, “i love you” your voice was just barely over a whisper, “i love you more” Tim concluded pulling you into his chest and playing with your hair the best he could without knotting it any further.
His love for you would go down in poetry, and worlds would collapse before he ever lost you.

You knew from the beginning that it would be different for you, that being a female cop would have its pros, cons, and tough moments. What you didn’t expect was the men who were supposed to be your equals harassing you and making each moment far worse than it should have been.
Between the crass comments about how your uniform fit, questioning whether it was your time of the month whenever you tried to stand up for yourself, and their inability to trust you in the field, you learn your place quickly.
“I’d like to request a transfer to a different station,” you tell your commanding officer.
“Why?” he asks.
“Because there is no respect, no trust in this station. Looking over my shoulder while I’m trying to work, and having to defend myself against the very people who are supposed to have my back is exhausting and it makes me unable to do my job.”
He sighs, rolling his eyes as he slides a form to you. “Your decision. Though showing how weak you are by moving around every time things get hard, or your feelings get hurt isn’t plausible.”
“And you had to ask why,” you mutter, snatching the paper off his desk and walking out to fill it out in private.
“Hey, princess, before we leave on patrol I need to know you don’t have your gun at the front of your belt,” someone calls. “Don’t want to risk getting killed by your poor aim.”
You remain silent, which makes them quit or spurs them on to push you further. As if your day isn’t going poorly already, they take your silence as a weakness.
“Just her gun? You should be more worried about how her attitude changes if her bra rides up or her hormones spike,” a second voice adds.
“You’re on your own today,” you reply. “I’m on desk duty.”
“Finally, someone put you where you belong.”
The men laugh as they walk toward their shops, and you take a deep breath as the quiet settles over the station. Once your paperwork is complete, you take it to the captain. You can only hope it goes through quickly before you get fed up and quit forever.
✯✯✯✯✯
Your commanding officer yells your name as you walk in, intercepting you on your way to the locker room.
“Your transfer just came through, you’re expected at the Mid-Wilshire division for roll call first thing in the morning; today’s PTO while we complete the paperwork,” he informs.
You accept the paper he hands you and pretend not to hear as he adds, “I hope they know what they’re getting into and have the patience to deal with you.”
Smiling as you empty your locker, you hope things are looking up. Although, you know it will be hard to open up to new people and trust new cops, even if they are different than your previous team.
✯✯✯✯✯
Entering the Mid-Wilshire station, you cross your fingers that transferring was the right decision. Sergeant Wade Grey is your new commanding officer, and your day (and your future) relies on this meeting going well.
“Sergeant Grey?” you ask, knocking on his open door.
He looks up, smiling as he beckons you inside. Saying your name, he opens a folder and compliments your arrest record. “I was surprised to hear you asked for a transfer, it seemed like you were doing well at your previous station.”
“The environment was making it difficult to do as well as I know I can, sir,” you answer.
Grey nods. “I can understand that. Our people are good, though, so I expect you will fit in well and succeed in all you do here.”
“I appreciate that, sir.”
“And you can drop the ‘sir,’ we’re not as formal as some other stations.”
Blinking in surprise, you look away from Wade when another cop enters the small office.
“Sergeant Bradford, I’d like to introduce you to your new partner. I will warn both of you this is likely a temporary partnership, but one I trust will do you both some good.”
You smile at Bradford, who tilts his head to the side as he looks you over. It’s clear that he isn’t thrilled about having a partner, having grown used to working alone since becoming a sergeant. As long as he doesn’t treat you like a boot, or worse, like a girl who doesn’t have what it takes to be a cop, you can survive working with him for a few weeks.
What you don’t see, though, is that Tim can look at you and tell you’re a good cop. He reviewed your paperwork and arrest record with Wade yesterday, and he’s impressed by you. You’re good, but you have the potential to be better with the right help. And, for some reason, Wade is convinced that Tim can give you the push you need to be your best.
“Okay, let’s go,” Tim says, turning away as Wade tells you to have a good day.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim acknowledges that you’re not a rookie but warns you from the beginning that you still have something to prove.
“I know you’ve been a cop for a while, but I haven’t seen you in action. Your records are admirable, but I need to see proof that you’re still that good,” he explains. “So, I will test you and challenge you while we’re riding together, but don’t view it as starting over, more like proving grounds than qualifications.”
You nod, remembering something Wade muttered about “Tim Tests,” which you’re sure are unique to Bradford.
“I understand. I’ll do my best, and I want to learn to be better.”
Tim doesn’t reply, and you raise your guard, unimpressed with how shut off he is with you. In general, your past has made you wary around men; after Tim’s insistence that you have something to prove, you are determined to hide everything that could be taken as a sign of weakness. You will do whatever it takes to show you are a good cop, worthy of respect.
Slamming on the brakes, Tim yells, “We’re being ambushed; what do you do?”
“Radio for backup, stay in the shop, stay low, and fire only if necessary,” you answer, nearly robotically, as he catches you off guard.
Tim eases back onto the road, ignoring you once again.
✯✯✯✯✯
Just before your scheduled lunch break, something which you haven’t actually enjoyed in far too long, Tim parks between two old warehouses.
“There’s a suspicious package in the gray building, you’re riding alone and need to check it out,” he explains. “Radio any information as you find it.”
You switch your radio to a private channel with Tim, accepting the call as you exit the shop and enter the building. It’s dark and wet, but you refuse to accept any comments or disdainful looks from Tim if you fail this test, so you will find the package and impress him as quickly as possible.
“7-Adam-9, located suspicious package: brown paper bag situated between steel beams,” you radio.
“Dispatch, requesting additional information,” Tim replies.
You sigh, moving forward to look at the bag because you can’t touch it. When you move, the beams sitting upright in the warehouse shift. Stepping back a second too late, one side of the heavy structure hits the back of your shoulder, shoving you forward into the crate holding the package.
Pain radiates through your shoulder as you move to the side, pulling yourself away from the mess you made with a sharp inhale.
“7-Adam-9, false alarm. Suspicious package is empty. Code 4.”
“Copy 7-Adam-9.”
Taking a step toward the door, you hiss in pain as the pain moves from your shoulder around to your ribs, where you fell against the crate. It seems likely that you broke something or at least got a deep bruise, but telling Tim would be like admitting that you’re weak. So, as you level your expression and cover your pain by walking normally, you decide to hide your pain.
Being labeled weak or incapable, or as before, giving Tim a reason to view you as less than is not an option anymore. Buckling your seatbelt, you press your lips together to keep your pained sounds muted, and the feeling of the seat on your shoulder makes you count down the minutes until you can get out of the shop.
✯✯✯✯✯
As the day goes on, your pain grows in intensity. Each breath causes immeasurable pain, and your stomach turns when you move your shoulder in any direction.
“Wade’s going to ask me, so how’s your first day going?” Tim asks, turning down a residential street to respond to a noise disturbance.
“Fine,” you answer quickly, clenching your jaw to stay quiet.
“Good,” he replies, though his voice sounds different. “Glad you found a station that works for you.”
You can’t tell if his comment is passive-aggressive, implying that you are the issue rather than the station you transferred from. The overbearing pain you’re feeling makes it nearly impossible to care.
“You take point on this one,” Tim offers as he parks by the curb.
“Yes, sir.”
Asking questions and explaining the city’s noise ordinances to the tenant, you’re momentarily distracted from your pain. The moment you turn to return to the shop, though, you’re reminded that your new position isn’t quite as enjoyable as you were expecting.
“Take us back to the station,” Tim says, tossing the shop keys to you.
When you raise your hand to catch the keys, your shoulder screams in protest, and you close your eyes momentarily to hide the pain.
“You alright?” Tim asks.
Nodding, you release a sigh when Tim climbs into the passenger seat, too easily convinced by your answer.
✯✯✯✯✯
After a quick meeting with Wade, discussing your new role, and signing a few documents, you head for the locker room. When you pull your shirt off, you glance in the mirror, surprised to see the size and color of the bruise; your entire shoulder, over to your neck and down around the front of your ribs, is a sickening purple. The yellowish tint around the edges is a sign that it will only worsen before it begins to heal. Attempting to raise your arm again, you feel something shift under your skin and step into one of the bathroom stalls, kneeling as you try to keep yourself from being sick. When you lean your head against the metal wall, the coolness is soothing, and as you finally let yourself acknowledge the pain, it becomes all you can feel.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim opens Wade’s door, furrowing his brows when he sees you’re not there.
“She left a few minutes ago,” Wade answers.
“Her car’s still here.”
“Must be in the locker room then.”
“Why’d she transfer?” Tim asks, stepping inside to close the door.
“I don’t know, Bradford. You’re going to have to ask her.”
Tim nods, turning away to search for you. He knocks on the locker room door, and when no one answers, he opens it and says your name. Once again met with silence, he steps inside and looks around. Your locker is open, but you’re nowhere to be seen. As he rounds the last row of lockers, he sees someone sitting on the floor in one of the bathroom stalls.
Tim says your name, knocking on the door. It opens at his touch, and he catches it before it hits your arm. Kneeling beside you, he looks across your face, pressing his hand behind your neck as he tries to find the source of your unconsciousness. His hand dips to your upper shoulder, and you groan, opening your eyes.
Tim ignores you as you wake, gently leaning you forward as he surveys the bruise where it’s visible past your tank top.
“Stay awake,” he says, moving you again. “Just your shoulder?”
You nod, and he demands to know: “Home or hospital?”
“Home,” you whisper. “But I can-“
“Obviously you can’t,” Tim snaps, his arms gentler than his voice as he lifts you from the ground.
✯✯✯✯✯
You stay conscious, fighting against the pain as you give Tim directions to your home. After getting you inside and as comfortable as possible, he leaves your side to gather a few things before returning. He gives you a glass of water and a few pain reliever pills, waiting until you’ve taken them to lay an ice pack across your shoulder. You take a deep breath at the cold before catching yourself.
“What else hurts?” Tim asks.
“My ribs,” you admit.
He leans you back gently, pushing your tank top to your sternum as he surveys the darkening bruise across your lower ribcage. Gently moving his hand across your skin, he doesn’t feel anything obviously broken, apologizing as you whimper at the pressure. Pulling the first aid kit he brought from your kitchen to his side, he places several cooling packets over your ribs.
Satisfied that he’s done all he can do for you, Tim moves to sit across from you, making himself comfortable in your living room.
“What are you doing?” you ask.
“I’m not leaving,” he answers quickly, “what if you collapse again?”
“I’ll be fine.”
Tim silences, closing his eyes as he leans back. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
You’ve heard that question dozens of times, but previously, it was asked in a much different tone. Always an accusation that you hadn’t handled something correctly or that you should have let someone else do whatever it was that needed to be done.
When you look back at Tim, his eyes are on you, and you shrug. His eyes narrow as his gaze intensifies, demanding your answer.
“The last station that I worked at made me nervous to tell people things, especially other cops. All of the guys that I worked with harassed me constantly, and they tried to convince me that I wasn’t a good cop because I was a woman. So, I have trouble trusting other police officers with personal things. During your Tim Tests, I thought that if I acknowledged something had happened, you’d see me the same way.”
“Which way?”
“Weak, incapable,” you answer, trailing off.
“They were bad people,” Tim explains. “They may have been okay cops, but no one deserves to be treated like that.”
You nod, licking your lips as your gaze drops to the blanket across your lap.
“Want to tell me what happened today?” he pries.
“The steel beams around the bag?” Tim nods, so you continue, “They fell. One of them hit my shoulder and knocked me forward.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You couldn’t have known that would happen. Besides, you helped me. My last partner would have found a way to blame be.”
“Like I said, bad people. But you… you’re a good person and a good cop,” Tim continues. “I’ve known that since you walked in, but I needed to know that you knew. Getting hurt or being unable to do something on the first try doesn’t make you less of a person, or a cop. Being a woman doesn’t either. And if they didn’t see that, it’s their loss.”
“Thank you,” you whisper, looking into his eyes.
“And my gain.”
You furrow your brows at Tim, but he leans back and closes his eyes instead of elaborating.

Love's Wake-Up Call
Request: GREAT NEWS !! Sooo then I'll be the first sending in an idea hehe 🤭🫣 as we all love some angsty shit, I'll think about where she's also a trainer and Tim and her are crushing but he ignores it as he wants to stay professional. But during one dangerous call, she gets there for support and saves his life by taking some bullets and Tim forgets everything professional immediately pleading her to not die until they have a at least one date. Later at the hospital he's there when you wake up and after he lectured you, he finally asks you out?
Pairings: Tim Bradford x Police Officer!Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff
Masterlist
For as long as you could remember you had been in love with Tim Bradford. You two went through the academy together and became great friends. With your friendship came along a major crush on your male friend. Tim would never admit it but he was in love with you too but he pushed his feelings down whereas you tried to hide yours but it was too much so they stayed surfaced. Everyone knew that you both had a crush on each other but Tim was just too stubborn to say anything and you didn't want to get rejected.
Your alarm is what woke you up early in the morning. You sighed and rolled over and turned it off. You laid there for a few minutes until you got the energy to get up. When you did you went into the bathroom and got in the shower and then brushed your teeth getting ready to start the long shift with Tim. Like him you were a training officer and you loved it and wouldn’t change it for the world. You loved the trainee that you had. He was smart, resourceful, loves the law and follows it, and is easy to get along with. His name was Luke Winters and he has a boyfriend but he is planning on proposing to him they also had a kid together.
When you had finished getting ready and packed a bag with extra clothing you set out to the kitchen and made yourself a cup of coffee, after it was done you put it in a thermos and you were off. You walked out of the house and turned back to lock the door. When you made sure it was locked and secure you walked over to your royal blue Jeep and got in and started it. Your Bluetooth automatically connected to the car and started playing music. You smiled and started your journey to work.
It didn’t take long for you to get to work and when you pulled in you saw Tim’s truck and parked next to it smiling. He must’ve just gotten there because he was getting out while you parked. You quickly killed the engine and got out as well. You grabbed your bag “Good morning.” Tim said as you rounded the front of your Jeep.
“Good morning, Tim.” You said and he smiled and you two walked towards the station.
“Have a good night?” He asked and you nodded.
“I did nothing special. How about you?” You asked
“It was ok. Have any plans for when you’re off?” He asked and you thought about saying something that involved him but refrained from doing so.
“Nope.” You said and he nodded and then he was opening the door for you and you smiled and walked in.
“Good morning, Officer Bradford and Officer Y/L/N.” The person at the front desk said and you smiled at her and then walked through the doors towards the locker rooms.
“You know I was thinking after shift maybe we could go and grab something to eat.” You said nervously and he didn’t reply but, on the inside, he was excited but he was at work so he had to keep it professional.
“We’ll see.” He said and then went into the locker room to change leaving you standing there and you frowned but did the same thing. You were quick to change and head into the briefing room. You saw him sitting there talking with Angela and Talia smiling and laughing and that made you smile but it quickly faded when he looked over at you. You turned your gaze away from him and quickly went and sat down next to Angela instead of next to him and he frowned but you didn’t see it. Sergeant Grey walked in and the day began. The Rookies quickly got with their TOs and then everyone was going to get their bags and guns.
“Are you ok?” Luke asked and you looked at him.
“Yea, I’m ok. Just didn’t have the best night last night.” You said and he nodded.
“It wasn’t the best for us either. Cody got sick in the middle of the night and it was just a huge mess.” Luke said
“Is he ok? Is Dakota staying with him?” You asked as he loaded the bags and guns into the trunk and then shutting it and then getting into the shop.
“Yes, he has a doctor’s appointment today. So, I hope it is alright that I’m on my phone.” He said looking a little nervous.
“Don’t worry about it. I understand. Family comes first.” You said and he smiled.
“Thank you.” He said and you smiled and nodded at him.
The morning was nothing interesting or eventful but you got all the calls that you needed Luke to get to get him to pass his training. Before you knew it, it was lunch time. You pulled into the usual hang out place for you guys. You had been coming here for as long as you could remember. You pulled up and killed the engine and then the both of you were getting out. “Hey, Officer Y/L/N!” Nolan said and you smiled.
“Good afternoon, Officer Nolan.” You said “You guys having a good morning?” You asked, he nodded.
“Yea, nothing too interesting. How about you both?” He asked and you nodded.
“Pretty much the same thing.” You said and then you all ordered and waited for your food and it was out in no time. You all grabbed yours and headed to the two tables that everyone sat at.
“Hey guys.” You said and they smiled. A collective of ‘hey’s were said.
“Hello Officer Y/L/N.” Tim said being professional and you smiled but a pang of sadness went through you but you didn’t let it show. Lunch was uneventful and nothing interesting was talked about. You really just wanted to get back out on the road. You weren’t really paying attention to the topic or what was being said just enough to put your input in. Your mind was mostly on Tim and how you would love to be with him but he doesn’t seem to act like he cares or likes you. A call came in and you answered it.
“Officer Winters! Let’s go!” You yelled out and Luke was up and out of this seat and heading towards you and the shop. You threw away your trash and so did he. What you didn’t see was Tim looking at you with eyes that only screamed love but you didn’t even give him a glance as you pulled out of the parking lot.
“You love her, don’t you?” Angela asked with a smirk and he looked over at her.
“No.” He said with a higher pitched voice.
“Oh, you do! You can’t deny it.” Talia said and he rolled his eyes and then a call came in and he was quick to jump to it and calling Lucy over and they were off.
“He is so in love.” Angela said and the girls nodded.
“Yes, he is and so is she.” Talia said and they nodded.
“We knew she was in love because she doesn’t hold it back and because we have a discussion about it. He just needs to come to his senses.” Angela said and Talia nodded.
“I have a feeling he will get that chance soon.” Talia said boy did they know she was right.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
While your call was quick and simple you were now driving around looking for anything suspicious. Luke was multitasking looking out and on his phone. “Everything ok?” You asked him and he looked up sheepishly nodded.
“Cody has the flu and a double ear infection.” Luke said
“Oh no. Do you need to go home?” You asked and he shook his head.
“No, I asked Dakota and he said no and to finish up the shift.” He said and you smiled and nodded. It was silent for a few more minutes until the radio went off and it was Tim’s voice.
“7-Adam-19 requesting back up.” Tim said and you nodded at Luke who was looking at you.
“7- Adam-20 responding.” Luke said and you were off to their location. Your lights and sirens were flashing and that helped clear the road and you were there in no time. When Tim heard that you were responding his heart sank but he didn’t let it show he was keeping it professional.
You got there and quickly parked, shutting the sirens off and both you and Luke were jumping out and heading over to Lucy and Tim. “What’s going on?” You asked, trying not to show how happy you were with standing so close to him.
“We got here about 20 minutes ago due to a call of disturbance and at first everything was going smoothly and then he started to get agitated. He has not barricaded himself in his house and won’t come out.” Lucy said and you nodded.
“What is the plan?” You asked
“Initially we were going to just storm in there but he pulled out a gun and started to become a danger to himself and others around him.” Tim said and you nodded.
“Have you tried to talk to him again?” You asked and he shook his head.
“No, we figured he wouldn’t want to talk to us.” Lucy said and you nodded.
“Ok, we’ll go try. Maybe a new set of people will help.” You said and they nodded. You and Luke started your way up to the house. You and Luke got up to the door and knocked on the door “Mr. Duncan, I’m Officer Y/L/N and I have Officer Winters with me. Would you please come to the door and we can talk about this?” You asked.
“Are the other officers gone?” He asked and you looked at Luke and he nodded.
“Yes, they are.” You said, you hated lying but it was the only way to hopefully get him out. There was a sound of shouting and things being knocked over and then the door started to unlock and it slowly opened and you took a quick look back at Tim and saw him smile but it was small. “Good afternoon, Mr. Duncan. We were called here for a disturbance.” You said he walked outside “Can you come out further onto the grass?” You asked and he hesitated but nodded and did so.
“I don't know why you guys are here. I wasn’t even playing my music too loud and the screaming was from a movie.” He said and you nodded trying to keep him on his good side. Nothing seemed dangerous but you knew that could quickly change in a heartbeat. You looked him over and then noticed his bloody knuckles.
“Sir, are you ok? Is someone in the house with you?” You asked and he shook his head getting defensive.
“No, it’s just me. I got mad earlier and punched the wall.” He said but you noticed the scratches on his neck. Just then a woman came running out.
“Help me! He has kidnapped me!” She yelled and before she could get to you, he had grabbed her and brought out a gun putting it at her head. You drew your gun and so did the others. He slowly backed up and that gave you and Luke time to back up until you were with Tim and Lucy.
“What is your plan?” You asked
“Call for back-up.” Tim said and you nodded and then started for your radio in your car but the sound of a gun went off and you froze. You looked up and saw that Duncan had turned to point the gun at the 4 of you.
“Don’t you move!” He shouted and you brought your hands up in surrender. You needed to get to the radio. You slowly started to back up again and he sent a warning shot your way but it had grazed you and you hissed and that got Tim’s attention. “Don’t move!” He yelled out.
Tim looked over at you and noticed the blood “Are you ok?” He asked and you nodded.
“Yea, I’m good.” You said and then something clicked in Duncan’s mind and he started to shoot off bullets and that caused you to fire back. Gunfire was becoming more frequent and that was concerning. Shop doors were opened and everyone was ducking behind them. “Are you good?” You asked Tim and he didn’t respond but he stood up and shot off a shot and then ducked down again.
“Yea, I’m good. I’m gonna move to get better access.” He said and you nodded.
“I’m going with you.” You said and he looked at you.
“No.” He said and you looked at him.
“This is not up for discussion.” You said and he groaned but started the move. You kept an eye on Duncan and as you started to move, he saw you and aimed his gun at you and Tim, he was right in the crossfire and you couldn’t have him getting shot. “Tim!” You shouted when you saw Duncan pull the trigger and pushed him out of the way. The bullet connected with your neck and then another shot popped off and it had entered your chest right below your ribcage and you froze. Gun fire ceased and Duncan was taken down and the woman was saved but now you were standing there shell shocked. Tim had gotten up and his eyes widened.
“Y/N.” He said, stunned and you looked over at him and then your knees buckled. “No no no no.” He said and then moved to grab you as you slowly fell.
“Tim-” You started but he cut you off.
“Don’t try to talk. Save your energy.” He said and you coughed and some blood came up with it. He reached for his radio with his bloody hand “Shots fired; shots fired. Officer down, I repeat officer down.” He said into his radio. You felt your eyes start to close and he noticed this and put his hand back on the bleeding shoulder wound. “Hey hey keep those eyes open. You can’t die. I still need to take you on our first date.” He said and that would’ve surprised you if you weren’t losing blood and fighting for your life. Lucy and Luke had arrested the man and saved the woman.
By now more units were arriving and that meant Angela, Jackson, Taila, and Nolan were showing up. They rushed over to you and Tim “What can we do?” Nolan asked.
“Make room for the ambulance and get them over her fast.” Tim said looking at him, he nodded and was off and looked back down at you and noticed your eyes were closed. “Hey, Y/N. Open those eyes for me.” He said and got no response. He could feel your pulse on your neck but it was slow and that worried him. “You can’t do this to me.” He said.
The ambulance was quick to get there and made their way over to you and got you up on the stretcher and moved to the ambulance. He moved with them and got in and nobody argued with him. Once everyone was in, they were off heading to the hospital. He was beating himself up for hiding his feelings for you and not making them known earlier because now he was here with you as you were fighting for your life. They arrived at the hospital in no time and they were rushing you back and away from him. He went and sat in the waiting room to wait. He doesn’t know how long he was sitting there but Angela, Jackson, Talia, Nolan, Luke, and Lucy all showed up. “Any news?” Lucy asked and he shook his head.
“No.” He said looking down at his bloodied hands, bloodied with your blood.
“How long since they took her back?” Luke worried for his TO and his friend.
“30 minutes.” He said and they nodded and everyone sat down waiting for good news. 14 minutes and Grace was coming out with bloodied scrubs and Tim was the first one up. “How is she?” He asked not to hold back his emotions.
“She’s pulled through.” She said and everyone sighed in relief “However we did lose her 2 times on the operating table but got her back each time. I want to keep her under for a few days to let her rest.” She said and everyone nodded.
“Are we able to see her?” Angela asked and she nodded.
“Right this way.” She said and they followed her. When they got to your room, they could see all the wires connected to you and that you were sleeping. “Anything happens, let me know.” She said and they nodded. Tim was the first one to move and sit down next to you. Wade had also shown up at some point and walked into the room and his heart sank, you were like a daughter to him and you actually cared for him, he hated seeing you like this. Nothing was said between them and that was ok. Although the others wanted to stay, they knew they couldn’t and they went back to work but Tim protested and wasn’t going to leave your side. Wade wasn’t going to fight him on it so he allowed him to stay. When their shift was over Luke had come back with your bag and Tim’s bag. Tim thanked him and they sat there talking for a little bit about you and then Luke had to leave.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Tim hated waiting. You shouldn’t be lying there connected to all the wires fighting for your life. If he hadn’t moved then you wouldn’t be in this situation and he hated that. It was leading into day 6 and you had yet to wake up and it was driving him mad. He barely moved, he only moved when he needed to eat, sometimes he didn’t do that unless it was someone bringing it to him, and he only took a shower at the hospital and brushed his teeth there. Grace and Gio were in and out checking on you and your wounds, they had taken you off sedation and now it was up to you.
10 days and you were still asleep and it was driving Tim mad. He kept thinking about that it was all his fault for moving and not making you stay. He was thinking about how stupid it was that he didn’t tell you how he really felt about you. Really, he was just beating himself up. He needed you to wake up so he could tell you that he was in love with you and that he wanted to be with you and only you.
It was during the night and he was sleeping when you started to wake up. You first opened your eyes and the room was darkened so it was easy on your eyes and then you felt a warm hand in yours and you looked down and saw it was connected to the man you loved, then the pain hit and you tensed up. Tim must’ve felt you tense up because he was jolting awake and scooting his chair back. “Y/N.” He said your name and you were breathing through the pain. After it passed you opened your eyes and looked at him.
“Tim?” You said in a hoarse voice “What?” You said but couldn’t get anything else out.
“You were shot covering me. What were you thinking? I told you not and yet you still did. Do you know how stupid that was? You were shot twice and almost didn’t make it. You know how heartbroken I would’ve been if you hadn’t had made it? I was kneeling there watching the love of my life slowly slipping away from me. You’ve been here for 2 weeks and those 2 weeks have been so painful and nerve wracking for me. If it weren’t for the others bringing food or had brought our bags I wouldn’t have moved from that spot. I was so scared that you weren’t going to make it.” He said coming to the end of his speech. You just stared at him and a smile crept up to your face. “What are you smiling about?” He asked, trying to stay mad.
“You love me?” You asked and he rolled his eyes.
“All of that lecturing and that is what you take away from this?” He asked but an actual smile appeared on his face. “Yes, I love you. As soon as you're out of here and feeling up to it, would you like to go on a date with me?” He asked.
“Yes, I would love that.” You said and smiled and leaned down and kissed your forehead.
“Good.” He said when he pulled away “I’m going to go and get Grace and Gio.” He added and started to get up.
“Oh, and Tim?” You said and that had him stopping and looking at you with a raised eyebrow. “I love you too.” You said and that made him smile and walk back over and kissed you on the lips and you returned it. When he pulled away, he brought his hand gently up to your face and caressed it.
“I love you too. I’ll be right back.” He said and you nodded and he left. You brought your hand up to where his hand was and smiled. You both loved each other and this was going to be a wonderful start to a wonderful relationship and you couldn’t wait and neither could Tim. All it took was for you to get shot, of course that sucked but you got the man you loved and you couldn’t be any happier.

He hadn’t expected to get the alert that someone was in the batcave at 4 am but he wasn’t surprised. It was a thing him and Tim did where Bruce pretended not to know that he’d come back after he’d been sent home to keep working on cases. So when he took the elevator down he thought he was gonna see Tim at the bat-computer trying to find those gun runners they’d been struggling with but instead when the doors opened he saw Stephanie. He didn’t see her in civilian clothes very often and when he did they were always very loud but this time she was in grey sweats and a shirt much too big for her. She was repeatedly hitting one of the punching bags and it seemed she didn’t even hear him come in at all which is something they’d have to work on but based on how hard she was punching Bruce didn’t think this was the time for constructive criticism.
“Not that I don’t think training is important but don’t you have school in the morning?” He was a few feet behind her when he spoke up and she let out a loud “fuck” and jumped when she heard his voice. Stephanie turned around and Bruce felt wholly unprepared to deal with the 16 year old girl who had obviously been crying “you’re bleeding” he said when he noticed the blood dripping down her fists and smearing the still swinging bag. She looked down at herself having apparently only just noticed.
“Oh” was all she said.
“Come here” he guided her over to the med bay and gestured for her to sit on one of the beds. They were silent as he started disinfecting the cuts mainly because he didn’t really know how to ask her what was wrong.
“He’s home” Stephanie didn’t need to clarify who “he” was they both knew and all he could do was draw in a sharp breath “overcrowding he said which I obviously didn’t believe so after my mom and I fought I came to check but no one was here and I don’t know the password to the computer so I just started punching shit” he’d never heard her speak like this, not the swearing no she did that all the time, it was her tone and inflection. It was missing all the energy and sass he’d come to know and tolerate.
“I would say that isn’t a healthy coping mechanism but I’m quite sure you’d call me a hypocrite” That drew a small laugh from her.
“You think?” She asked sarcastically as he started to wrap bandages around her steadily swelling fists.
“Would you like to talk about what you and your mother fought over?” He asked after a few moments of silence.
“Everything, the fact that she let him back in the apartment, that she doesn’t stay sober when he’s around and that she’s picking him over me again” her voice cracked at the end and Bruce kept his eyes down not wanting to face the no doubtably tear filled eyes “I mean the last year and a half he’s been locked away has been the best of my life because I finally had the sweet, attentive, sober mom that I’d always dreamed of when he’d smack me around or lock me in that fucking closet” Stephanie had made allusions to the abuse she’d faced from her father but never had she been so open with it to him, he found himself looking up, not at Stephanie however but at the case 15 feet away from her that held the suit, his suit. Not for the first time he wondered if it took him longer to warm up to Stephanie because of how much she reminded Bruce of Jason.
“when I told her all of that of course he got mad at me for “disrespecting her” as if he doesn’t disrespect all the time, i said as much” of course she had ”and I thought maybe just maybe my mom would defend me for once but no she just watched as he fucking slapped me and told me to watch my tone” Bruce finally looked up at her and saw the beginnings of a bruise on her right cheek and he longed to drive to the Brown’s apartment in the narrows and show Arthur what happened when someone messed with one of his kids. He refrained but the urge was there, Bruce had finished wrapping her hands but didn’t let go of them just yet.
“There’s 12 bedrooms upstairs that aren’t being used if you need somewhere to stay while we figure out how he got out” He said letting go to grab some ice, she smiled but it wasn’t the toothy one he’d grown used to.
“Thank you B, I’d really appreciate that” she paused “y’know you’re a really good dad right?” The rhetorical question caught him off guard which wasn’t something many could do “I mean you’re how a father is meant to act, he’s supposed to clean up his kids scrapes not give them more” she brushed nonexistent dust off her pants and stood up “are you sure it’s okay if I stay I don’t want to impose” he almost laughed at that, Stephanie would eat his food and use weapons he designed but taking an open bed when she couldn’t go home was imposing? He was about to say as much when the elevator doors opened again to reveal Alfred already dressed for the day.
“Please come upstairs Miss Brown I’ll show you to one the guest rooms and you can tell me what you’d like for breakfast” she just nodded sleepily and started to walk away but before Bruce could follow she had run back and pulled him into a tight hug. For the second time that night Stephanie had caught Bruce off guard, she barely hit his chest he and wrapped his arms around her shoulders.
“Thank you B” he didn’t know what to say, I’m sorry your father is a monster and your mother’s complacent? I’m sorry I’ve been distant when all you’ve obviously wanted is a father figure? Please be careful I can’t lose another one? None of those worked so he settled with pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head which based on the way she squeezed him tighter was the right thing to do. Eventually she let go and walked back to the elevator, Bruce was left alone in the cave and he did what he did best, got to work.

The submarine -
Ch 1
Many thanks to hobby27 for your input on this story!!!
After getting up and taking a shower, you turned on your cell phone for the first time since last night.
A friend had been texting you for hours about some guy, so you turned it off in frustration.
While it was booting up, you thought nothing bad and made yourself a coffee. Then, after the first sip, you looked at the screen and froze in shock. 2 missed calls from your boss, 3 from Tony and 5 from McGee and a total of 4 voice messages.
“Damn. This is going to cause trouble,” you cursed loudly and downed your coffee. Then you took your bag and your keys and drove to the NCIS headquarters as quickly as possible.
If you were lucky, Gibbs had an appointment this morning and wasn't in the office yet. With screeching tires, you came to a stop in front of the building. You got out as fast as you could and ran into the building.
Completely out of breath, you finally stood in the elevator on the way to the office, muttering quietly to yourself the whole time, “Please don't let him be here yet. Please don't let him be here yet.”
Ding! You had arrived and the doors opened. You walked carefully towards your desk. And there you saw the silver-grey head of your boss. The question of whether he had noticed that you were late was now settled.
Tim and Tony looked at you with pity as you walked past them. You had almost reached your desk opposite Gibbs when suddenly his deep, sarcastic voice rang out, “Y/L/N. Glad you're here too.”
Yep, that was an unmistakable reprimand. You looked over at him, but he didn't even look at you and continued leafing through the file he was reading.
You swallowed hard and answered carefully: "Sorry, boss. It won't happen again."
"Yes, I know." He answered immediately, but he still didn't look at you.
Contrite, you sat down at your desk, turned on the computer and started working.
Something wasn't right. The air was as thick as before a thunderstorm and you were just waiting for the big bang.
After a while, Gibbs got up and left the office. Your colleagues immediately came over to you.
"Y/N, you're crazy! Rule number 3!" Tim said nervously to you.
"Yes, I know. I turned it off overnight," you answered frustrated.
Timmy nodded, "yes, we noticed that...and so did Gibbs. He was raging and I'm amazed that he's stayed so calm until now." Tony leaned on your desk, grinned and said smugly, “must have been a very busy evening if you turn off your phone.”
He paused briefly and then continued with a wink: “Amazing, because I wasn't there.”
“Typical Tony,” you thought to yourself and just rolled your eyes.
But before you could say anything, both of them looked behind you and disappeared back to their desks.
And from their reaction you could already guess why: Gibbs was standing behind you.
The hairs on the back of your neck stood up with tension and then you heard the order: “Come with me. Now.”
He walked briskly past you in the direction of the elevators to the forensic lab and the morgue. Maybe there was something important that Abby or Ducky had to tell you.
Anyway, the boss was so fast that you almost had to run to keep up. He was clearly annoyed.
But he didn't want to go to the elevators, instead he pulled you into the corner under the stairs to the director's office.
You stood in front of the wall with the NCIS logo, confused, and had no idea what he was planning.
With his gaze fixed on you, he came slowly and threateningly towards you. He was so intimidating that you backed away and finally, with your back pressed against the wall, you had no chance of escape. You were completely at his mercy and he was boiling with anger...what would he do?
Only one thing was clear: you definitely shouldn't mess with him, which you apparently did.
Taking a deep breath, you looked up to him. He was now so close that your noses were almost touching. He put his hands on the wall on either side of your head, stared into your eyes and said slowly and clearly: "Rule number 3, never be unreachable. If you disregard this again, I’ll send you to Antarctica to feed penguins. Understood?”
Instead of answering him, you nodded. That was enough for him. He took two steps back and just said: “We’re expected in Director Shepard’s office.”
He then turned around and started to climb the stairs to the office of the director. Two steps at a time. He didn’t tell you to follow him. No, he expected you to.
So you almost ran behind him as you followed him and were accordingly out of breath when you got there.
In the waiting room, her secretary asked you to wait a moment because the director was still on the phone. That was really bad. Because having to wait made Gibbs' mood worse.
Neither of you had any idea why you were called here, but you would inevitably find out soon.
Then you were asked to come in, and the secretary gave you a sympathetic look.
You had a more than queasy feeling, which was to be confirmed in a few seconds when you and your boss stopped in front of her desk.
She looked silently from one to the other and back again.
Then her gaze rested on you and she said in a firm voice: "We have a problem."
(To be continued...in Chapter 2)

The batfam’s favourite family member is often a debatable topic, and for this reason I propose the answer:
It depends.
If the bats want comfort, just want to be pampered, play some games or watch movies, be coddled, kept safe, warm and cozy, a place where they can unwind or just stay as long as they like they go to Dick. Theres just something about his aura that always had a way of making people feel less alone, and tears and laughter are welcomed with open arms. It’s where they can shed their responsibilities and just for a few hours be the younger sibling who’s spoilt.
If the bats just want someone there, not to talk to necessarily but just another presence they usually seek out Barbara or Tim. Conversations and silences are always comfortable, and you can do what you want with a guarantee they don’t mind. Be it just watching them work, or doing your own thing. It’s silent companionship and at times where they just wanted to be , not running around or doing work, they’d just plop down next to them.
If they wanted someone to do crazy shenanigans with, create chaos or dabble in morally grey areas they’d call Duke and Stephanie. The ends justify the means and if that means sometimes blowing up stuff or stealing from the thieves it’s a fun night out and you know that when you call both of them would be down to hang. It’s always a fun time which ends with a night of dubious choices and fast food while you all sit on the rooftops and laugh your hearts out.
However, if they got scared, the first person they would go to is Jason. Jason was the kind of person who’d punch first ask questions later. The kind who’d let you have your space as you cry without prying on the issue until a few days later when you’re calm. He’s the guy who would feel anger on your behalf, and if there’s a fight he’ll be the first one to back you up. A night at his house shows his gentler side, with him reading books and talking about literature till you fall asleep, to going out and bringing groceries to make you your favourite breakfast in the morning. He never shows how concerned he is, but actions always speak louder than words.
Cassandra and Damian are always the first ones sought when you develop a new interest or obsession, no matter how niche. Cassandra loves listen to you excitedly ramble on about why you love it and encourages you to continue breaking down the core components, happy to listen to you spiral down your hyper fixation. Damian always pretends he doesn’t care, sometimes even scoffing but deep down he is deeply touched that you let him in on something so precious and close to you. And if one day when you’re down or it’s your birthday he won’t say a word as you find a beautiful portrait of it on your bedside.

Found a new song for My Girl, my Girl, My Girl
Maybe even the Entry 80 fic, actually because Tim didn't get to hold Jay before he died, and that fucking devastated him, he didn't get even a minute to hold his girl
I'm doing a whole shitty "which line means what in context of S,IL" thing again with this one so that's under the thingybobber
[Verse 1] I've been waiting for you To come around and tell me the truth 'Bout everything that you're going through My girl, you've got nothing to lose
This one's pretty obvious, it's the bit that actually made me think of My Girl, because it's just literally what Tim's doing. He's waiting for Jay to tell him/realise he's actually trans. He knows Jay's trans but Jay hasn't realised it yet, and Tim's trying to help him figure it out, just waiting for Jay to realise and tell him. And Jay already thinks there's something wrong with him for wanting to be called a girl in bed, and Tim's like, "you have nothing to lose, I'm not gonna be upset," when Jay's so convinced he's gonna lose Tim over this whole thing.
[Pre-Chorus] Cold nights and the Sunday mornings On your way and out of the grey
White noise. This is White Noise and the Stars in Your Eyes. I know that fic's not out yet, but this just feels like it. They star gaze together and it's cold but it's perfect because they feel almost safe for the first time in weeks. Nothing's happening at the moment so they go and spend time stargazing together, because they can. All the bad things and anxiety melt away for an hour or two and they just get to exist together, go on a stargazing date like they're normal people. Y'know?
God I can't wait to post that fic. I fucking adore it. I need to get chapter 3 written because White Noise comes after that one.
[Chorus] I've got time, I've got love Got confidence you'll rise above Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl Crowded town or silent bed Pick a place to rest your head Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl
This is the bit that makes me feel like this song could also work for entry 80. Honestly I might put it in both playlists, have it be like when a movie has the same song at the start and end but at the end the song takes on an entirely different meaning.
In My Girl this is Tim genuinely thinking he has time, he has the time and love to help Jay figure himself out and he loves that he can just take little bits of time to just hold Jay whenever he wants to. Sure they can't really do it when they're out and about in a 'crowded town' that'd probably not go super well, but they can just lie in bed together and cuddle. They can just do that. Jay can pick how he wants to lie, whether he wants his head on Tim's chest or stomach or shoulder and Tim can just hold him there. They can just hold each other.
Then you get the entry 80 fic and this whole song becomes so much sadder, but especially this and the next bit. For the chorus it's like Tim's thinking about what he and Jay had before Jay died. It's Thinking about how he thought they had time and about how patient he was happy to be as Jay figured himself out, he'd thinking about how he was so sure Jay would figure his gender out and Tim would be able to be there for him, to hold her and give her all his time and love as she figured out what she wanted to be called and how she wanted him to refer to her.
And then Jay died and Tim's looking at the footage just absolutely devastated because he didn't get to hold him before or even as he died. He didn't get to hold Jay one last time, because the last time they were together properly they'd had an argument and that was why they split up at benedict hall, because Tim needed time to calm down and just, wrangle his feelings under control because he just felt so fucked up because of what Jay did. (Hooray for Jay pushing boundaries he shouldn't with Tim as well as Alex lol)
[Verse 2] I've been dreaming 'bout us Working hard and saving it up We'll go and see the man on the moon My girl, we've got nothing to lose
This bit's also the entry 80 fic as well as My Girl and has it's meaning change depending on which one you're listening to it with.
In My Girl it's Tim thinking about the future, all hopeful and excited about the life he and Jay could have after MH is all over. He's thinking about how after MH is over they can do anything, they'll have nothing to lose that they haven't already had to deal with. They can save up and move out and create themselves a brand new life wherever, whenever and however they want.
And then with entry 80 he's thinking about all the same things but knowing now that he'll never get to have them. He'll never get to move away and start a new life with Jay because Jay's dead. He'll have to do it all on his own (well, also with Birdie, but he doesn't know about her yet) and now he really does have nothing to lose. He's already lost Jay and Brian and Alex. He's lost everything. (even his house? Maybe? I'm not actually sure if that'll fit into my version of events for Alex dying lol) But yeah, he's actually got nothing left to lose.
[Pre-Chorus] Cold nights and the Sunday mornings On your way and out of the grey
[Chorus] I've got time, I've got love Got confidence you'll rise above Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl Crowded town or silent bed Pick a place to rest your head and Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl
[Bridge] My girl, my girl It takes one hard second to turn it around It takes one hard second to turn it around
This bit's a bit less connected to either fic honestly, unless I guess it could be kinda like Tim desperately hoping Jay is somehow alive, begging for just one little thing to turn everything around and let Jay still be alive. For My Girl I guess it's like Tim hoping Jay will figure out his gender and tell him, about how it'd only take one little thing for it to all fall into place for Jay and then everything in how he feels about himself will turn around and get better. Or at least he hopes that's what'll happen, chances are Jay would still struggle lol, even after realising that he's actually a girl and all that.
[Chorus] I've got time, I've got love Got confidence you'll rise above Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl Crowded town or silent bed Pick a place to rest your head and Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl I've got time, I've got love Got confidence you'll rise above Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl Crowded town or silent bed Pick a place to rest your head and Give me a minute to hold my girl Give me a minute to hold my girl

Batfam During Quarantine: 27 Minutes (Remastered)
Batfam During Quarantine: 27 Minutes
Hey, quick heads up, this is a slightly reworked version of the third post I made for this series. My continuity on this series got really messed up for a bit and I have so many drafts that I still have yet to publish so I'm going through all of my old stuff to fix the chronology of the stories and also put a bit more pressure on me to finish this series. Please keep in mind that my writing skills kinda improve throughout the series, but this one has been the most reworked so far, and there is a good chance this will be reworked again in the future.
Dick: Good morning adopted dad!
Bruce: *grunts*
Tim: Bruce is so stressed out. Yesterday I watched him stare at a page load for 1 second and he screamed his head off. He almost destroyed the computer.
Jason: I literally saw him counting grey hairs the other day. Whatever it is it must be Tim’s fault.
Tim: Don’t you blame this on me....
Dick: *speaks over Tim* Okay so anyway, here’s the challenge, *speaks a bit lower* first person to make Bruce smile gets to drive the Batmobile on their next patrol.
Cassandra: Awesome, how do we decide who.......
Jason: *walks over to Bruce*
Cassandra: Never mind.
Jason: Hey Bruuuuuce.
Bruce: *glares at Jason while slurping coffee*
Jason: Want some breakfast? *turns on stove* How about some eggs!
Bruce: What do you want?
Jason: Nothing! Just to see my *pauses a bit* old man smile.
Bruce: I will shank you.
Jason: Loving this new color on you? You should be pissed off all the time.
Bruce: Go away.
Jason: Okay......d.....d...da...
Alfred: Don’t burst a blood vessel Jason.
Jason: No, I can do this. Da......d.a....dad *sighs and puts his hand on the stove* AHHH, FUCKER!
Bruce: Jason, are you okay!
Jason: GET AWAY FROM ME, I CAN DO THIS BY MYSELF BRUCE! *quickly runs to the bathroom to run cold water over his hand*
Duke: Well that was entertaining!
Cassandra: *lays head on Bruce’s shoulder and hugs him*
Bruce: *hugs Cassandra back but no smile*
Damian: Father, I brought you a gift. *pulls out a picture of the entire batfamily together*
Bruce: *Bruce smiles* Thanks Damian, that’s really thoughtful of you.
Damian: *turns towards everyone and points* YES SUCK IT LOSERS!
Daily Briefing
Dick: Okay, so we have reached a low point of criminal activity for Gotham City which is a good thing.
Cassandra: A bit funny how it took a pandemic to make Gotham a bit peaceful.
Dick: Exactly my point. Now, with that said, we will still be doing patrols starting at 11. Tim, this is your week on sanitation duty. Throughout the day we will train a bit harder than normal. There will be scheduled times and you will each have partners. Try to train no less than two and a half hours a day. Training should include sparing, cardio, strength, and tumbling. Try to spar with someone new every week.
Dick: Also Jason, you remember when you said you wish you could fall like me.
Jason: I was being sarcastic.
Dick: I will finally be teaching you how to do pommel horse 1 hour a week like you asked.
Jason: I will kill you.
Duke: Being honest, I’d like to try high bar and floor. I feel it will be very beneficial for me in the long run.
Dick: Awesome! You got it. Now everyone has until tomorrow to pick their partner, I know my partner will be Jason.
Jason: Fuck you.
Dick: Also, last thing before I make the training schedules and routines, I need to address something. There are quite a lot of people in Gotham City still refusing to wear mask. During the day lets try to hand out mask with our own designs on them to everyone who we come across during the day. I already ordered them and they should be here by Saturday, so that is something we will be doing starting next week.
*alarm sounds off in the batcave*
Alfred: It would seem there is a fire at Wayne Tower on the thirty-second floor.
Dick: Alright, Duke, Jason, and I will go to check it out. Everyone else do what you would normally do.
Tim and Bruce
Tim: Hey Bruce, I brought you some coffee!
Bruce: How many cups have you had?
Tim: Three large cups.
Bruce: After......
Tim: *mumbles* The five cups I had with breakfast.
Bruce: There we go.
Tim: Okay so what are we doing?
Bruce: Someone found a weakness in Wayne Tech's firewall and is trying to hack into my server. If they do so they will have knowledge of the companies upcoming projects, along with the identities of our persona’s.
Tim: How long do we have?
Bruce: 27 minutes. Try to locate the hacker.
Nightwing, Red Hood, and The Signal
Time- 19:37
Nightwing, Red Hood, The Signal: *all pull up on their motorcycles at Wayne Tower*
Fire Marshal: *approaches the three vigilantes* Hey Nightbird....*looks at Red Hood and The Signal* and gang, look, this wasn't a big fire, it was contained very quickly so there's nothing really to worry about.
The Signal: So we’re good to go, awesome!
Fire Marshal: There's not much you can really do, so yeah.
Nightwing: Thank you fire marshal but if you don't mind, we'd like to stick around for the investigation.
Fire Marshal: No, that's not necessary! We have it all covered!
Red Hood: I take it that you haven't been in Gotham for long. It wasn't an offer, it was a statement.
Fire Marshal: *sighs* Very well.
Nightwing, Red Hood, The Signal: *walk into the building and make there way up to the stairs up to the thirty-second floor*
Tim: Nightwing, are you still at Wayne Tower?
Nightwing: Yeah, what’s up?
Tim: We’re dealing with a hacker trying to get into the server at Wayne Inc. We think the hacker is inside the building....
Nightwing: Say no more! We’re on it!
Tim: Find him fast, we have t-16 minutes and 55 seconds to find him!
Fire Fighter: *runs by to a fire truck* Lets go, lets go!
The Signal: What's going on?
Fire Fighter: There’s been another fire across town. Lets move out!
Nightwing: Shit *mumbles under his breath* Okay, Signal, investigate the fire upstairs. Red Hood, search the building, there is a hacker somewhere and we need to find him before he hacks us! I'll go to the next fire!
The Signal: Got it.
Red Hood: Understood.
Nightwing: *bolts out into the stairway towards the ground level* Red Robin, I'm on my way to another fire, Red Hood is in charge of looking for the hacker and Signal is investigating the fire.
Tim: No time! I'll send The Signal to search for the hacker, too! Investigate the fire later!
Nightwing: Got it!
Tim: Signal, Red Hood! Start looking for the hacker!
Red Hood: Already doing so!
The Signal: But Nightwing said...
Tim: Shut up and do it!
The Signal: Got it!
Alfred and Julia
Alfred: What are we watching
Julia: Well, I thought that with both of us being former spies, I thought we could watch an American film franchise called Mission Impossible.
Alfred: And tear it apart by it’s inaccuracies!
Julia: Yes!
Alfred: Sounds wonderful!
Tim and Bruce
Time- 13:17
Harper: I came as fast as I could.
Bruce: Good, set up your computer.
Harper: Why isn’t Alfred helping?
Bruce: Shut up and get to work.
Harper: Okay then!
Signal
Time- 12:14
The Signal: Fuck! *runs through and between all of the Wayne Enterprise employees* Sorry, excuse me! Coming through! *keeps searching for someone hunched over their computer* Out of the way! Coming through! I'm so sorry! *makes his way back to the stairs and climbs up to the fortieth floor, opens the door and finds the floor empty, but still hears the sound of a guy typing away* Signal to Red Hood, potential suspect on the fortieth floor!
Red Hood: Copy that, standing by!
The Signal: *turns the corner and gets into a stance*
Hacker 1: *looks over* Ah!
Hacker 2: *jumps up behind The Signal and kicks him in the back*
The Signal: Uck! Red Hood, hackers on the fortieth floor!
Red Hood and The Signal
Time- 12:14
Red Hood: *walks on to the twentieth floor and lifts his pistols in the air and fires two rounds* Everybody, go down to the next floor now!
Everyone: *rushes off to the stairs*
Red Hood: *observing everyone that leaves the floor*
The Signal: Signal to Red Hood, potential suspect on the fortieth floor!
Red Hood: Copy that, standing by! *continues to observe the crowd and notices a face* Hey you!
Noah: *looks around and points to himself*
Red Hood: *points* Yeah, you!
Noah: *walks over nervously* Please don't hurt me, I don't want any trouble!
Red Hood: Relax, I'm not going to hurt anyone here. We're just looking for a guy. What's your name?
Noah: My name is Noah.
Red Hood: Sup Noah....
The Signal: Red Hood, hackers on the fortieth floor!
Red Hood: Gotta go! *pushes through the crowd and runs up the stairs, then enters the door for the fortieth floor*
Hackers 1 and 2: *holding The Signal by his arms and legs*
Red Hood: *raises his pistols and fires a few shots at the hackers, but misses and takes a few heavy breaths* That was a warning shot! Next time I won't miss, drop my partner!
Hackers 1 and 2: *drop The Signal and charge at Red Hood*
Red Hood: *dives out of the way and turns around and shoots the hackers with rubber rounds* You guys probably should have spent less time coding and more time in physical education in high school! *taps his helmet* Red Hood to Bat-cave, we got the hackers!
Tim: Good, now look for a R.A.T.!
The Signal: Ew! Gross!
Tim: Not an actual rat, a Remote Access Tool!
Red Hood: What's it look like?
Tim: You're looking for a window on the computer or maybe a USB connected plugged into it!
Red Hood: *checks one of the computer screens*
The Signal: *checks the other computer screen*
Red Hood: Nothing out of the ordinary!
The Signal: Same here!
Tim: Keep looking, it has to be somewhere!
Red Hood: *keeps looking* Tell Batman he's going to need to buy some new shit for this floor! *starts picking up computers and smashes them to the floor*
The Signal: Red Hood! What are you doing?
Red Hood: Narrowing down our options!
Nightwing
Time- 9:23
Nightwing: *pulls up with the fire trucks at the apartment complex in flames, hooks up a small oxygen tank to his waist and connects the hose to his mask, then sees a resident waving from the terrace on the third floor, he then rushes over and climbs up each terrace and fires a grappling hook from his escrima stick onto the top of the building* Step over the railing, I got you! *he gestures for the resident to step over*
Resident: *steps over the railing and into Nightwing's arms*
Nightwing: *holds on to his escrima stick which slowly lowers them down he then lets go of the resident*
Resident: *runs to a safe place with the other residents*
Nightwing: *turns the valve and runs inside the building, checking for any other residents stuck inside*
Firefighters: *start spraying the apartment*
Kid: Help!!!
Nightwing: *runs up the stairs to where the yelling is coming from and finds a parent lying on the floor unconscious*
Kid: *crying* Help, my.... my...
Nightwing: *kneels down and places a hand on the kids shoulder* Hey, you're dad's going to be okay, but right now we have to get out of here. Okay?
Kid: *nods their head*
Nightwing: *lifts up the kids dad over his shoulder and carries the kid as he begins to rush down the stairs only to see the stairs going to the first floor are engulfed in flames, then drops the kid and the dad gently against a wall as he grabbed the fire extinguisher and clears a path for them to go down, then lifts the kid and dad back up and runs down the stairs and out of the door*
Paramedic: *runs over with a stretcher*
Nightwing: *helps lay the dad on the stretcher then runs back in, shooting a grappling hook at the roof and reels himself up the stairway, climbing three floors before the ceiling gives way and Nightwing falls*
Batgirl: *reaches out for Nightwing's arm* Ah!
Nightwing and Batgirl
Time- 5:54
Nightwing: Aren't you a sight for foggy eyes! *reaches up with his other arm up to the railing and crawls over the railing* Are you okay?
Batgirl: *starts to lift a few of the residents* Ow! Come on! We have to get these people to the paramedics!
Nightwing: Go to the fire escape!
Batgirl: Not safe, the metal is starting to bend!
Nightwing: *pushes against the railing he just climbed over* This one is holding! Go check the top floor, if no one is there head down!
Batgirl: *goes up to check the top floor*
Nightwing: *attaches a grappling line to the railing and carries the two other residents reels them all down then races out of the building to meet the paramedics*
Batgirl: *finds one more resident and taps their shoulder* Are you okay?
Resident: *starts to wake* Uhhhh.
Batgirl: Can I help you?
Resident: *goes limp*
Batgirl: *carries the unconscious resident out of the room and reels them both down the building, then racing out of the building to meet with the paramedics*
Bruce, Tim, and Harper
Time- 4:37
Harper: Ha! Gotcha sucker!
Bruce: Did you stop them?
Harper: No, but I got their IP Address! Computer is being accessed on the twentieth floor!
Red Hood and The Signal
Time- 4:07
Tim: THE HACKER IS ON THE TWENTIETH FLOOR!!!
Jason: Son of a bitch!
The Signal: On our way there!
Red Hood and The Signal: *running down the stairs*
The Signal: About what happened.... (being manhandled like a jump rope)
Red Hood: We have bigger problems right now!
The Signal: Right, right!
Jason: *slows down for a second, then races down fast* Shit, I KNOW WHO THAT MAN WAS!
The Signal: *tries to catch up* Red Hood!
Red Hood: *bursts through the door for the twentieth floor and unleashes a primal roar*
Noah: *still sitting down* You're smarter than I remember Red Hood! Don't bother grabbing your guns. I'll be gone before you even fire.
Red Hood: *taps the side of his helmet to send video of the situation to The Signal* The hackers on the fortieth floor, they were...
Noah: Yes, just a distraction! Really impressed by your physicality by the way, but I sure bet you are exhausted right now.
Red Hood: I can still take you out!
Noah: No you can't. Hans!
Hans: *grabs Red Hood*
The Signal: *turns invisible and sneaks past Hans and Red Hood, then approaches Noah and bashes the laptop with his escrima sticks*
Noah: Nooooo!!!
The Signal: *kicks Noah and whacks him a few times with his escrima sticks*
Red Hood: *knocks his head against Hans' head*
Hans: *lets go of Red Hood and stumbles back*
Red Hood: *turns then kicks Hans' chest, then reaches forward and tases Hans*
The Signal: *becomes visible and ties up Noah*
Red Hood: *ties up Hans* Have I ever mentioned how impressive your meta-human abilities are?
The Signal: You can mention it more, I can use the ego boost!
Red Hood: We captured The Calculator and his goons, how is it on your end Red Robin?
Tim: All clear over hear! Nice work guys!
Alfred, Julia, Stephanie, Cassandra, and Selina
Alfred: Why would he choose the safe house. If this were reality Ethan would have already been arrested.
Stephanie: Alfred, we love you to death, but your ruining an amazing movie.
Julia: The movie ruined itself by it’s inaccuracies. Plus this is our bonding time, you guys weren’t even invited!
Selina: Yeah, but you guys took the only copy and once we saw you watching it, we just really wanted to watch it, too.
Harper: Oh, cool! Mind if I join?
Alfred: *sighs* The more the merrier.
Nightwing and Batgirl
Nightwing: Gotcha Jay, thanks for the info! Alright, our guy lives in apartment 22 on 1807 Zics Street. Let’s head there now and see if we can find him.
Batgirl: Want to get something to eat after?
Nightwing: If we race there we can eat sooner!
Batgirl: Lets go!
Nightwing and Batgirl: *jump on their motorcycles and drive to the apartment where they found the arsonist, then tied him to a lamppost and Batgirl informed the GCPD the location of the arsonist*
Nightwing: So, how has your dad been doing?
Batgirl: Not too bad. He’s been a bit under pressure but he’s doing fine. How is it being a dad at the mansion?
Nightwing: Ohhh god. I had the thought once and decided to leave that duty to Alfred.
Batgirl: *Barbara laughs*
Nightwing: I help him a bit. It’s been so difficult acting like a grown up. I had to seriously step in when Alfred called Jason “Master Todd”
Batgirl: Please explain further?
Nightwing: Well, because Jason is, well, Jason, he lost his shit because he’s “not a snooty ass rich motherfucker, Alfred!”
Batgirl: Damn, I could so see that.
Nightwing: Yeah, and it doesn’t help that Bruce totally lost the ability to interact with other people. The other day Damian was acting up and Bruce picked him up and shouted “WHERE’S THE OFF BUTTON!”
Batgirl: *laughs harder*
Nightwing: *laughs* I wish you could have been there, it was funnier in person.
Batgirl: *leans her head on Dick’s shoulder*
Nightwing: I love you Babs.
Batgirl: I love you too, Dick.
Dick
Dick: *got into the batcave and began creating workouts for everyone, then went to the bathroom and took a shower in the batcave, got out, and went upstairs and entered the media room*
Dick: Aw, isn’t this sweet!
Julia: Get the fuck out Dick!
Dick: Damn, okay.
Dick: *walks into the kitchen to see everyone in there*
Tim: Someone took long getting back to the mansion.
Stephanie: What happened.
Dick: I met up with Babs.
Everyone: WHAT!!!!
Damian: No fair. If I knew I could have been with Jon this entire time I would have!
Selina: You’re not able to Damian, and you knew you weren’t suppose to interact with anyone outside of the mansion.
Dick: Chill. Everything is fine. We’re more likely to get sick on patrol then by hanging out with each other.
Selina: In which if we do get sick on patrol and run into each other we then get them sick!
Dick: It's fine! What’s up with Alfred and Julia?
Selina: No....
Jason: They got tired of everyone ruining their family bonding time so they kicked us out.
Dick: That makes sense.
Helena: *rings the doorbell*
Dick: I got it. *walks over to the door and opens it* Helloooo...............
Helena: Hey Dick, you look great!
Dick: *slams the door shut and covers the door*
Jason: *walks up to the door and shoves Dick to the side and opens the door* Hey, Helena! It's so awesome to see you! What are you doing here?
Helena: I’m here to stay and help. Where should I put my bags?
Jason: You could put them in any of the open guest bedrooms up on the third floor! You remember where that is, right?
Helena: Yep!
Dick: Coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool. *starts to sit down*

So I've been rewatching a lot of season 5, and there was this scene in 5x19. It was when Lucy was studying in the morning and Tim had just woken up. There was a brief mentioned of how difficult it's going to be for them to maybe see each other daily in the future because of Tim's metro hours and Lucy's detective hours (if Lucy pass the exam). Which got me thinking.
There has been lots of discussion on Lucy's future as a UC and how it may impact Chenford's relationship in the future, and there's already a lot of fanfics going around that explore lots of those possibilities. There are theories that Lucy may not be a UC for long or at least not a long term ops like what Isabell did, which make sense, but her being a detective and having long hours are actually something both Tim and Lucy seem reluctant to have in the first place. One of the reason Tim initially become a court liaison is because had Lucy transfer to another station, it will be difficult to sync up their shift and they may not see each other everyday.
So this got me spiraling, say Tim and Lucy really want to maintain they see each other everyday or at least as often as possible, how would the story goes? Maybe Grey retires and Tim promoted as Watch Commander? or Tim move to other place aside from Metro but where? or Lucy not become a detective, but then how would her career go next?
really interested to hear your thoughts on this. thanks
I'm not really sure how this particular storyline would go… Here's the thing : as much as they want to see each other as often as possible, they also both want a career. Only, considering their line of work, that means long and unpredictable hours. This is something they're going to have to contend with. And honestly? This is the kind of conundrum most couples go through at some point in their relationship. It's all about finding a balance.
What makes this harder is the fact that they spent years riding together, working side by side all day every day. Going from this to only seeing each other a couple of hours per day was always going to require a period of adaptation. The long hours in Metro or as a detective add another layer. But despite this, they're still supporting the other in their respective career. As Tim said, they'll figure it out.
However, let's say they really want to see each other more often than their current positions allow them to… The ideal solution would be for both of them to take a desk job within the station. That's where they have the best chance to have a regular schedule. But Tim has already done that and the man looked miserable after just one week… That's what started the five-player trade in the first place. They love the action too much : in 5.21, Lucy asked him if he ever wished he had a normal job, one where he didn't get shot at, and he said no. So did she. Which rules out this option.
At the moment, I'd say Metro presents the biggest challenge. So one way to fix it would be for Tim to move somewhere with less demanding hours. Being the Watch Commander could indeed be a possibility since he has the rank - but only if Lucy is out of patrol. He didn't seem to particularly enjoy the job though. And it would be a shame to lose Grey. That still leaves plenty of other positions, like the ones mentioned by Lucy when she was trying to get him a better job : IA, Motor, SWAT, Robbery, Vice… Now Robbery and Vice could present an issue if Lucy makes detective, depending which department recruits her. SWAT would be just as bad as Metro, and I doubt Tim would be interested in working for IA. Motor could be an option. K9 too. They are other departments and positions of course, but I don't really know them. That said, while it wouldn't be as unpredictable as Metro, as a supervisor, he would still have long hours.
Lucy has three main options : stay in patrol (where she could become a TO), try the detective's exam (her current path) or take the sergeant's exam (Tim's path). But again, being a Sergeant is no less demanding than being a Detective : Tim was asked to pick an aide for that very reason and we saw him stay after-shifts as well. Patrol is where it would be ideal in terms of a 'regular' schedule (all things considered) and action. But Lucy hasn't shown any interest in becoming a TO or even staying in patrol. Not to mention that it would be quite close to Nolan's storyline…
In my opinion, the best solution would be for them to move in together. Sure, it doesn't solve the issue of the long hours… But at least, it eliminates time spent commuting from one house to the other.

Maybe he was right...
This is my first fic in a long time so please, bear with me! I hope you like it.
--------
Post 6x03. Lucy thinks about her new career path after landing 17th out of 19th in the detective’s exam. Riding with Celina and Tim triggered some realization, especially remembering the discussion she had with Tim the day before the day of the exam.
Reading the list had been painful. The more she read the names on the list, the further down her eyes got. 17th. Unfortunately for her, this meant she only had a slim chance of ever making it in the career that she had worked so hard to get. The career path that had caused so many fights with her boyfriend and sleepless nights as she tried to get on top of potential wildcards for the oral exam. However, it also marked the end of the struggle. She was settled — she had to think about something else. She realized that a part of her felt rather relieved at the score. She had begun to feel doubts regarding undercover work. She talked to Chastity and Celina about her fight with Tim on the subject, with Chastity bringing a valuable point into the conversation.
“Yeah, well, undercover work is kind of scary and dangerous. Maybe he's not the only one that's scared of what might happen.” Chastity had told her, triggering Lucy to doubt her desires for a second before shifting the blame onto Tim.
—
She walked into the station with Tim that morning. Tim practically moved in with her, going to his place every now and then to feed and take care of Kojo. Tim became Celina’s training officer temporarily while Harper worked with detectives on a big case. She had been assisting him, enjoying spending time with her boyfriend as well as helping train Celina.
“Officer Chen.” Sergeant Wade Grey called her. He had been by her side when she read the list after the exam. He witnessed her heartbreak yet knew that Lucy would succeed and thrive in anything else. She had so much potential, so much so that she reminded him of Captain Zoe Andersen. “Keep riding with Bradford and Juarez, okay? Be safe out there.” He told her, giving her a soft smile before heading into his office. Lucy quickly joined Tim and Celina in the garage, tagging along with them as they patrolled. The day had been rather busy, with a few high-value calls that proved to be the perfect learning opportunities for Celina. As always, Tim played the rough T.O., while Lucy offered a softer perspective. Yet, both proved to be effective on Celina who made enormous progress while riding with the couple. “Good job, boot,” Tim said to Celina, providing some encouraging words to her after finally listening to Lucy’s advice. “See you tomorrow.” He said before turning to Lucy, noticing her to be in her own world. “Lucy?” He called out her name a few times before she finally snapped out of her thoughts. “I think I know,” Lucy mumbled as if Tim heard the conversation she had had in her head. Tim gave her a funny face, unable to decipher what she was talking about, causing her to let out a laugh. “My career.” She started, hitting him playfully in the chest as she began to walk towards the locker room to get changed.
“I have been having doubts lately about the undercover thing…” She admitted, looking up towards Tim as they stopped walking. “I think that is why I kept picking fights with you. I just felt unsure suddenly about what I actually wanted. I had worked for so long on trying to make undercover work my reality and forgot about what actually made sense.” She added, taking a few steps to get closer to her boyfriend. Her brown eyes found his beautiful ocean eyes, getting lost in them as a smile formed on her face. “You’re the most important thing in my life, Tim. Undercover work would have been an issue no matter what and I was too stubborn to admit it. But I know what I want. I want to be a training officer.” She found herself lighter after the words left her mouth, feeling her heart rushing in her chest as Tim’s face lit up.
He pulled Lucy into a kiss, keeping it quick knowing that they still were in their uniforms and at the station. “Good, because you would be a damn good one.” He winked before they both got to the locker rooms to get changed. —
It had been a few months since that conversation. After dealing with the ‘pentagram killer’ case, Lucy received a golden ticket for her brilliant involvement in the case. She had contributed to solving the case and bringing justice to many victims.
“I know what I want, Sir.” She said to Sergeant Grey after he made the announcement. “I want to be a training officer.”
This all felt familiar as Nolan had made the same decision when receiving his own golden ticket, the two being more similar than they thought. She glanced over at Tim who was looking at her proudly and she knew. She had made the right decision this time around.
“He knew. Tim knew all along, but gave me the time and space for me to figure it all out.”

Friday 1st November 2024
This is a strange and mystical place. It all started as we watched Poirot around 9.30 last evening. It was an episode that we have seen on numerous occasions no doubt, but still the culprit appeared as illusive as ever, and only the little grey cells could ever hope to resolve the riddle. However, the noise from outside became more and more invasive. With the confidence and naivety a novice outbacker might be expected to possess in these circumstances, we trusted this minor interruption to the airwaves would very soon cease. Not so. On turning in, the cacophony could only be described as getting more intense. It starts with an, as it were, oink, followed be an, as it were, honk, at the bass end of the octave. Then in tenor comes, ti ti ti ti. Now put that into some kind of order it becomes, oink, honk, oink, honk, oink, honk with ti, ti, ti, ti all the while. Now speed that up, turn up the volume, and repeat it for 2 hours. My head was placed between two pillows resembling a foam burger bun, and still the rhythm perpetuated. Just as it might suddenly cease, so there would then be an, oink and the whole thing began again. To venture through the external sliding door to ascertain more information regarding the source of this nocturnal orchestra would be folly in itself. The heat and barage of indeterminate flying objects would be prohibitive so the barricade pricinciple had to prevail.
Eventually the music stool lid went up and the music was put away for the night and all quiesced for the remaining hours of darkness, but the fear of a resurgence was never too far away.
One theory, away from the perils and dangers of the night, is the source of the noise might be a form of geese or maybe, according to speculation by the lady in the tourist information place, they might be fruit bats!
This morning we did what all newbies do when they hit town; go to Woolworths to buy a rubbery chicken and Tim Tams, and pop into the Tourist Information Office. It wasn't long before we were parked up at the TI and we met up again with the little family from Melbourne that we had got to know a little simply because we are always at the same places at the same time. We only just met up because they were leaving for Darwin to get their van fixed. We agreed to look out for them when they get back. The TI booked us on a cruise up the Katherine Gorge on Sunday, which should be good and pointed us in the direction of all the places we should visit. First up was the Railway Museum. That was shut.
Katherine had been an Aboriginal meeting place for thousands of years, but it wasn't until 1862 when the first European, John Stuart, arrived. This is the 'Stuart' who gave the name to the Stuart Highway, sometimes simply referred to as 'The Track'. John McDouall Stuart led the first successful expedition from St Augusta in the south all the way through the interior to Darwin in the north, finding a route for the transcontinental telegraph line. By 1872 the line was up and running, and an office was opened in Katherine. The railway had been running from Port Augusta near Adelaide to Alice, since 1878 but did not open for passengers from Alice to Darwin until 2001. Katherine today is a very mixed society with nearly half of the 18,000 people being Aboriginal, more than non-indigenous when undeclared are taken into account.
We set off for Katherine this arvo to follow an Art Trail around the town centre. It started at the old railway bridge crossing the Katherine River, last to see a train crossing it in 1976. The works of art are murals depicting local aboriginal people who have in their own way served the community of Katherine and are inspirational, especially to this latest generation; some of whom we see around the town who desperately need a purpose and direction in life.
Returning to our little house looking out across the fields, we supped SB and watched the sun gradually set behind the trees.
ps. Terrible TV here. At about 8pm last night they were advertising coffins!

Pictures of You
Requested Here!
Pairing: Tim Bradford x fem!wife!artist!reader
Summary: While patrolling the fairgrounds, Lucy convinces Tim to have their picture drawn. She doesn't expect you, Tim's wife, to be the artist.
Warnings: fluff! mention of a bomb threat
Word Count: 1.3k+ words
Picture from Pinterest
“Why are you acting like you’re being punished? This is fun!” Lucy exclaims.
“Feels like a punishment,” Tim mutters, not slowing down as he looks around while he walks. “Fairground duty is not my idea of a good time, Chen.”
“What do you have against fun and showing you have a personality, Bradford?”
“If you’re having so much fun, why don’t you focus on that instead of me? You just do your thing, and I’ll do my job.”
Lucy groans but continues walking through the endless rows of booths. There’s food, games, face painting, vendors, and more local artists than she can count. Tim keeps his eyes on the people rather than the entertainment, only looking away when his phone rings.
“Bradford,” he answers.
“Bradford, how’s it going?” Wade asks. “We haven’t seen any indication that the threat was legitimate at any of the other venues.”
“Someone called in a fake bomb threat? Who could imagine such a thing,” Tim answers with his unique blend of sarcasm and grumpiness. “I haven’t seen anything here other than the usual suspicious individuals that show up for cheap booze and carnival rides.”
“It’s not a carnival!” Lucy interjects. “If you’re going to hate on it, at least hate on it correctly.”
“Sounds like you’re having a good time,” Wade teases. “Keep an eye out, the day isn’t over yet.”
“Yes, sir,” Tim answers.
“Oh, and one more thing, Bradford. Loosen up and have a little bit of fun for once, would you?”
“And risk finding out that the bomb threat was legitimate, no thanks. Bye, Grey.”
“Tim, look!” Lucy squeals. “Caricatures! Can we please get one?”
“We are on the clock, boot.”
“I’m going to ignore the ‘boot’ comment and simply remind you that I am no longer a rookie, but I’ll let it slide. I’ll say please again.”
“No deal. We’re here for work, Chen, not to get temporary tattoos or eat funnel cake.”
“You like funnel cake?”
Tim glares at Lucy before saying, “Not the point.”
“Tim,” she groans, tilting her head back. “What did Wade say?”
“To keep an eye out.”
“And to have fun?”
Tim doesn’t answer, and Lucy bounces in place.
“One booth,” Tim concedes. “And then we’re going back to foot patrol. Don’t forget why we’re here.”
“Sir, yes, sir,” Lucy answers, mock saluting him before she hurries to the first booth in a row of artists. “Are you more of a ten-minute portrait or a caricature guy? Do you know the difference?” she asks when Tim joins her side.
“You pick. But you only have five minutes before I leave, whether the picture is done or not.”
Lucy nods enthusiastically before she begins walking. She slows down to look in several booths while Tim keeps an eye out for anyone matching the description from the call this morning.
“This one,” Lucy decides before pushing Tim into the empty tent.
“Hi,” Tim greets.
You look up from the sketchpad in your lap and smile. “Hello, officers,” you greet. “How can I help you?”
“Hi! We want a caricature,” Lucy answers. “Oh, and I’m Lucy and this is Tim; we’re off the clock for a few minutes, so we wanted to have some fun.”
“We’re not off the clock, boot,” Tim grunts.
“Boot?” you inquire. “You’re a rookie?”
“Not anymore, he’s just grumpy and doesn’t understand how much fun I can be.”
“Well, Lucy, what kind of fun would you like to have? I can do, or at least try, just about anything you’re interested in. Though if you want a portrait in ninety seconds or less, there is a guy down this row that can do that.”
“Are they any good?” Lucy asks quietly.
You shake your head before gesturing toward two seats on the other side of your canvas.
“I’m giving you free reign, but if you can make it kinda caricature-like, I wouldn’t be opposed,” Lucy says.
Looking over at Tim, you decide what you want to do. The wedding ring on your fingers glints as you reach for a marker, and Tim’s eyes drop as he watches your hand before meeting your eyes.
“I’m going to regret this,” Tim grumbles.
“Tim, be nice,” Lucy scolds under her breath. She sends you an apologetic look, but you only smile.
“I’m used to it,” you promise.
“Lots of unwilling models?”
Turning your attention to your paper, you shake your head. “Officer Bradford, care to explain?”
“Lucy, this is my wife,” he says reluctantly before saying your name.
“Wait. Oh my gosh, I have so many questions!” Lucy responds.
“You only have four minutes, so make everything quick before I send you to check the portable restrooms,” Tim snaps.
“Tim,” you warn.
“Bradford?” someone asks from outside your booth.
You chuckle as Tim closes his eyes. He rubs a finger over his left ring finger, and you smile when his eyes return to you.
“Officer Thorsen, good to see you,” you greet.
“Hey, Mrs. Bradford,” he replies. “Makes a whole lot more sense now.”
“You didn’t think Tim would willingly have his picture drawn?”
“Aaron, you knew?” Lucy asks. “I knew Tim was married, but- Tim, why didn’t you introduce me?”
“I actually met Aaron on accident while I was at the station once,” you offer, adding the finishing touches to the caricature.
Aaron steps to your side, pressing his lips together to hide his smile before he radios for all nearby officers to meet at your booth.
“Thorsen, you just saved Chen from a long afternoon of checking the backside of this event,” Tim interjects.
“Worth it,” Aaron responds happily.
“Bradford?” Nolan asks as he approaches. “Oh, you got a caricature! Can we see?”
A small crowd gathers in your booth: your models, Aaron, Nolan, Celina, and two other officers wait to see your picture.
“You told Aaron to call for backup for when you get mad at me, right?” you joke, winking at Tim.
You smile at Lucy before turning the board around so they can see the finished picture. Tim remains impassive, but Lucy laughs, leaning backward as the other officers yell in surprise before laughing so hard tears come to their eyes.
“Who’s the boot now, Bradford?” Lucy asks through her laughter.
The picture of Tim as a cowboy boot with a police badge and Lucy as a puppy in a police uniform goes over well with every cop in the booth.
“I’m getting you back for this,” Tim says. “Both of you.”
“Don’t threaten civilians, Bradford,” Nolan chides.
“Don’t threaten your wife!” Aaron amends.
Celina and Nolan leave first, and soon you, Tim, and Lucy are alone in the booth again. Lucy happily takes the picture, holding it against her chest as she watches Tim.
“We got a bomb threat this morning,” Tim says softly. “So, if you want to head out early, I’ll be home as soon as my shift ends.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to pose for your own copy?” you ask.
“If you want to draw me, just ask,” Tim replies as he stands. “But we both know who’s on every page of that sketchbook.”
“Who?” Lucy asks.
“Me,” Tim answers. At the same time, you say, “Kojo.”
Tim rolls his eyes and snatches it from your side. He laughs as he sees the most recent picture of Kojo. After he flips a page, though, he’s met with a picture of him. Lucy coos, immediately commenting on how cute the two of you are.
“Let’s go, boot. A word about this, and I’ll have you assigned to cavity searches,” Tim says as he steers Lucy out of your booth. He turns back to you to add, “I love you. I’ll see you at home.”
“I love you,” you answer. “And don’t be too hard on her, I drew the picture after all.”
“You’ve got ring immunity,” he says, pointing to your wedding ring. “So, I make no promises.”
“Tim!” Lucy yells. “There’s funnel cakes!”
Tim rolls his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose as he steps away from you. You laugh as he waves over his shoulder, glad you got to see him, even if he will be teased about it for a while.

Hi. I feel bad that it’s taking me ages to finish fics, so…
Here’s a peek at the beginning of chapter 5 💕
All the effort Lucy made to douse the flames of her want for Tim between the drive from his house and getting to roll call, go completely out the window the second their eyes meet across the glass encased room.
He’s standing at the podium beside Sergeant Grey, hands on his duty belt. He’s the perfect picture of stoic authority and it’s doing things to her.
His stupid arms on display — the muscles flexing slightly as he holds the front of his belt. The same arms that she was wrapped up in an hour ago, his hands large and warm on her back. Inching their way under her top right before his alarm had gone off.
She had said slow, and Tim was being so incredibly patient and understanding. Never pushing farther than she was comfortable with, and she loves him all the more for it.
But her resolve is no longer there and Lucy knows that if his alarm hadn’t gone off this morning they would have fallen into bed.
And she finds that she doesn’t mind at all. She’s ready, they’re ready.
“No coffee?” Celina pulls Lucy from her thoughts, smiling at her roommate as she takes the seat beside her.
“What?”
“Bradford’s been bringing you coffee every day for months but he didn’t today. Oh!” She gasps, scooting closer to Lucy and lowering her voice more. “Did he find out about your new guy? He’s sulky cause you’re dating someone else, isn’t he?”
“I don’t think that’s it. Maybe he forget.”
“No way. Tim would never forget about you or anything pertaining to you. You’re his soulmate.”
“Celina…”
“I’m just saying…” Celina raises her hands in defeat, leaning back in her chair as Grey starts the meeting.
We’re determined to finish this one first because it’s been like a month and then some since I updated it

LUCY
“I’ll go pick up another pack of tests,” Lucy offered as they stared down at the one test in question, but nobody tore their gaze away from the faint pink line on the test.
“No, I’ll call my doctor,” Angela said, breaking the spell. “I know she’ll fit us in for a blood test. If we get this over by the lunch hour, then we might even have results by tonight.”
Lucy continued to stare at the test while she absentmindedly followed Angela’s phone call.
When she woke up that morning, it had been just another day. She and Tim took Kojo for an early run in which halfway through, Kojo plunged belly first into a muddy puddle and rolled around. While Tim hosed him off in the backyard, Lucy made breakfast: Salmon for Kojo and an omelet for the two of them.
She loved the pace they’d been taking their relationship. They had found their rhythm. Nothing felt forced and they organically began to spend more and more time together.
Part of that meant spending time with Tim’s sister and her kids. Both Tim and Lucy had gotten involved in the boy’s baseball team earlier in the year and it had been more fun than she could have imagined. These days, Genny and Lucy didn’t need an excuse to hang out.
Tim pretended to be annoyed by the two of them colluding, especially when Genny told embarrassing stories from Tim’s past in painstakingly clear detail, but she knew he secretly loved the friendship they were developing.
And on the flip side … Tim now (unwillingly) knew everything about Sabrina Carpenter after spending many nights and mornings at their apartment listening to Tamara prattle on about her favorite female artist. Tim would tease Tamara and ask if there was a friend she could call to discuss the latest Sabrina celebrity news with instead, to which she’d reply that she preferred the challenge of converting Tim to her way of thinking much more. Tamara even set a New Year’s Resolution of dragging Lucy and Tim to a Sabrina Carpenter concert, not having the slightest clue that they’d already purchased a set of VIP passes to an upcoming show for Tamara’s birthday.
It all felt natural. It felt right.
Would this fracture that feeling?
“Thank you so much, Dr. Stone,” Angela gushed into the phone. “Yes, we will head over right now. See you soon.”
“Do you want to ride with us?” Nyla asked.
“Yeah,” Lucy swallowed. “Let me just tell Tim I’m taking an early lunch and then I’ll meet you in the parking lot.”
“Okay,” Angela nodded. “Be quick.”
Lucy should have anticipated that Tim would be waiting in the hall outside of the locker room. It wasn’t lost on him that Nyla and Angela rushed out from behind her and she was sure he noticed their flustered expressions.
He waited until the other two women were out of earshot before bringing it up.
“So?” Tim asked, drawing out the end of the word into a question.
“The result was … inconclusive,” Lucy said. “I’m going to take an early lunch and pop over to the doctor’s office for a blood test. Can you manage for an hour without me?”
“Of course,” Tim said. He looked around the room. “How is it inconclusive? Isn’t it just like an aim and pee thing with a yes or no answer?”
“Yes, usually,” Lucy whispered, “but something went wrong.”
“What went wrong?” Tim asked, confusion sewn into his expression.
“I can’t go into the details right now,” Lucy said, blushing. It wasn’t like she could tell him what happened without revealing that Angela and Nyla were in the same boat and she wanted to respect their privacy. “Just trust me on this. If I don’t get the results by tonight, we can try taking another test at home after shift.”
“Okay,” Tim conceded. “Let me just get Grey to cover for me and I can come with you.”
“No, he’ll be too suspicious,” Lucy pointed out and Tim’s face dropped. “But I think after today we should make a plan to tell Grey and to tell our friends. It’s time.”
“Alright, if you’re sure?” Tim prodded, his eyes full of concern. He could always tell when she was putting on a front.
“Yeah,” Lucy said with a soft smile. “I’ll see you in a bit.”
She stopped herself from reaching out to him. She really wanted to hug him, but she couldn’t. Not here, not when they were at work and near so many prying eyes. Not when she knew she’d break as soon as his arms slipped around her.
She knew the honeymoon phase of their relationship wouldn’t last forever but to have it potentially shift so abruptly because of this new, incredibly big thing was too much for her to absorb.
She loved Tim and his reaction in the shop earlier had made her love him even more. She wanted to start a family with him eventually but she’d give almost anything to be able to do it their way and on their timeline.
Angela spotted her as she walked through the parking lot and waved her over to the unmarked vehicle. Lucy took a steadying breath and tried to push away the sinking feeling in her gut.
Angela
As they were wrapping up at the doctor’s office, Angela got a call about a homicide scene that they were needed on. After they arrived, Lucy immediately jumped into the action to help Officer Jan set the perimeter and begin canvassing for witnesses while Nyla began to interview the person who’d called in the DB to 9-1-1.
Tim gave Angela the official readout of the scene and she diligently took notes, but she couldn’t help checking her watch every few minutes. The doctor promised to put a rush on the bloodwork and said she’d call each of them with the results as soon as possible.
Angela wanted to know those results so badly. She needed to know.
“Are you okay?” Tim asked after repeating the answer to a question she already asked. “You seem off.”
She sighed despondently.
“You can’t say anything to Wes until I know for sure,” she warned and he nodded apprehensively. “I might be pregnant again.”
Tim blinked.
”For fuck’s sake, is there something in the water? ” He muttered it quietly under his breath and if she didn’t have freakishly good hearing, she would have missed it entirely.
“What?” Angela whispered irritably. “Oh my god, did Lucy tell you?”
“What? No,” Tim stammered. “Unless … What did she tell you?”
“Timothy,” Angela warned, “what did Lucy say?”
“She told me she’s late,” Tim whispered defensively. “That’s it. I had no idea you were going through the same thing.”
“Oh.” Angela shook her head, surprised that Lucy would share something so sensitive with Tim. “Forget about that. We’ll circle back to me in a second.
She knew they were close, but Lucy had to know on some level that Tim had feelings for her.
“I’m just so sorry, Tim,” Angela said with a sigh and gave his arm a light squeeze. “I didn’t even know Lucy was seeing someone.”
Tim’s jaw hung open temporarily as she watched him find his words again. Poor guy. He must be reeling.
“I’m fine,” Tim said slowly. “Really, I am. You don’t need to worry about me. Are you ok with this? You were just telling me you were pretty sure Jackson was going to be an only child.”
“No, I’m not ok,” Angela admitted. “And I feel like a terrible person saying that out loud.”
Tim slung his arm over her shoulder.
“How can I help?”
“Just moral support,” Angela said. “And let me vent and complain if this test is positive about how hard my life is, even when it might seem unreasonable.”
“Of course,” Tim said. He gave her shoulder a quick squeeze and then let her go. “What are friends for?”
“And Tim?” Angela turned so she was facing him. “I am sorry about Lucy. I really thought you two were heading in the same direction.”
She watched Tim’s expression change. She expected him to look sad, maybe a little lost, but instead she found a mixture of guilt and … something else on his face.
What was going on?
“Fuck,” he muttered under his breath. “I really should talk to Lucy before I tell you anything.”
“Tell me what?” Angela’s pulse kicked up a beat.
Tim glanced at Lucy in the distance and she saw it in his eyes. This wasn’t a man yearning, this man was adoring someone he already had.
Oh my god, how had she missed the signs?
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you,” Tim rushed to say as Angela’s eyes widened. “Lucy and I really just wanted to keep something for ourselves for a while and then I blinked and three months had gone by. Honestly, there were a number of times I was sure you’d already figured it out–”
“Oh my god,” Angela grabbed his arm and pulled him down to her level. He almost tripped over his own foot. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“If Lucy’s pregnant,” Tim whispered with a smile on his face, “that’s my kid.”
Angela felt the shout of glee build in her chest before she could contain it.
“Shhhh,” Tim looked around nervously. She could see several officers looking over at them from the corner of her eye. “You have to keep it a secret. We’re still figuring out the work side of things.”
“I am going to hug the shit out of both of you later,” Angela said with the biggest smile on her face. Then she punched Tim in the arm. Hard.
“Ow,” Tim said, rubbing the spot.
“I have been feeling sorry for you ALL day. You could have told me,” Angela scolded.
“I know,” Tim assured her. “And I trust you. We just wanted to make sure this thing was real first.”
“Is it?” She asked, even though she already knew the answer.
“Yeah,” Tim said with a deliriously happy smile. “As real as it gets.”
Angela was gearing up to tell Tim how happy she was for him when Nyla walked up and narrowed her eyes at the two of them.
“There is literally a dead body twenty feet from you,” she scolded. “Could you stop smiling so much? The other cops are starting to think you’re both sociopaths.”
“Tim was just cheering me up,” Angela explained. “What do we have?”
Angela worked to switch her brain back into work mode, but only managed to quell her excitement down to a half smile on her face as she walked the crime scene with Nyla.
Her best friend was finally happy and she knew it was the forever-kind-of-happy. She had a second-hand happy high that she just couldn’t shake.
NYLA
Nyla reached for her phone after the ding indicated she had a text message. They were getting close to wrapping up their day and had a few more solid leads to run down but it was nothing that couldn’t wait until morning.
From: Lucy | To: Angela & Nyla
Just got the call. Mine was negative! Phew! Good luck <;3
Angela sighed audibly from across the desk. She saw her shoot off a reply and then did the same. Nyla’s pulse kicked up as she realized her chances were now fifty-fifty.
When Angela’s phone rang next, their eyes met and Angela nodded before stepping away to answer. Around the same time, Tim and Lucy went into Grey’s office. It wasn’t something she would typically notice, but their body language was … strange.
Grey hung his head in his hands for a moment before looking up at both of them with a huge smile on his face. He rounded his desk and hugged them both. Lucy hugged him back enthusiastically but Bradford looked stiff and awkward.
Nyla smirked.
It looked like ‘Chenford’ (as Smitty called them) was finally coming clean.
“Nolan,” Grey opened his office door and called out. “Could you join us?”
Nyla leaned back in her chair to enjoy the show. Moments later, Nolan’s jaw dropped in complete disbelief and Nyla chuckled in her seat. She wasn’t surprised that Nolan hadn’t suspected a thing. She’d noticed Lucy and Nolan slowly drift apart after Jackson’s death. Whether that was due to their respective lives getting busier, or a subconscious decision to distance themselves from painful memories, she wasn’t sure.
Regardless, Nolan seemed genuinely happy for them.
“Nyla,” Angela said from behind her. She spun around in her chair.
“What’s the word?” Nyla asked, trying to hide the hope in her voice.
“My test was negative,” Angela said slowly. “Which means–”
Nyla’s heart pounded in her ears as her phone rang. She answered it right away.
“I’m calling for Nyla Harper.” Nyla recognized Dr. Stone’s voice from earlier.
“Hi, Dr. Stone,” Nyla said. “Thank you for rushing the test results. Lay it on me.”
“They were negative for pregnancy,” Dr. Stone cut to the chase. “But I did see something interesting in your bloodwork that makes me think you could have gotten the false positive on the take home test.”
“I didn’t know that was possible,” Nyla responded, letting the news wash over her. So she wouldn’t be a mom again. At least, not yet.
“It’s very rare, but sometimes a UTI can trigger a false positive. You do have minimal hCG levels present for detection but if you were pregnant, those levels would continue to climb throughout your first trimester and then level off,” Dr. Stone explained. “For at home test to be positive, the levels would have had to be much higher earlier today since those tests are far less sensitive than blood tests.”
“Okay,” Nyla said. “What does that mean for me?”
“I see an elevated white blood cell count in your CBC panel, which indicates an infection is probably present,” Dr. Stone said. “If you can come back in tomorrow or later this week, I can run a urinalysis to confirm it. Then we can send you home with antibiotics to treat it.”
“Other than that, I’m fine?” Nyla asked.
“Yes, as far as I can tell, you’re very healthy,” Dr. Stone confirmed.
Nyla stayed on the phone long enough to schedule an appointment and then hung up. She jerked in her seat when she realized Angela was standing right behind her.
“Jesus, wear a bell,” Nyla chided.
“So you’re–”
“Not pregnant,” Nyla finished the sentence. “Doc says I might have triggered a false positive. I probably have a UTI and I’m going back tomorrow to confirm.”
“So none of us are pregnant?” Angela asked.
“Not a one,” Nyla confirmed.
“Then maybe we should all go grab celebratory drinks?” Angela suggested.
“Rain check,” Nyla smiled politely, wishing she could match Angela’s level of relief. “I am wiped.”
“Okay,” Angela said and gathered her things. “Have a good night. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“See ya.”
Nyla sighed and let the disappointment sit with her for a minute. It’s not the right time , she told herself, and she could be okay with that.
There was a silver lining to all of this. Now she knew how she really felt about adding to her family. She made her way home to James to see if he felt the same way.
LUCY
Lucy walked across the parking lot with Tim by her side, grinning from ear to ear about finally having their relationship out and in the open.
“How are you feeling?” Tim nudged her softly with his elbow.
“About telling Grey?” Lucy asked.
“That too,” Tim nodded, “but more so about the negative pregnancy test.”
“Honestly?” Lucy bit her lip nervously. “I’m relieved. You?”
“Me too,” Tim said with a sigh.
“Really?” Lucy prodded. “I know you’re ready to start a family but–”
“Eventually,” Tim corrected her. “But right now? I’m so happy with exactly where we are.”
“Me too.” Lucy smiled up at him and grabbed his hand.
“Wow,” Tim brought her hand to his lips and pressed a quick kiss to her knuckles. “I can’t believe we can actually do this now.”
“It’s almost like we’re a normal couple,” Lucy agreed with a laugh and swung his arm playfully as they walked.
Once they at his truck, Tim twisted her in his arms.
“What are you doing?” Her voice was husky as his face neared her own.
“What normal couples do.” He slid his hand behind her neck and brushed his fingers into her hair before closing the distance between their lips. His kiss felt like a vow, holding the promise of all the amazing milestones yet to come.
“I could get used to this,” Lucy mumbled against his lips.
“You better because I’m planning to keep doing it.”
“Fine by me,” Lucy said with a smirk. “Because I’m planning on keeping you forever.”
“Forever, huh?” Tim smiled teasingly and leaned back a hair. “I’m going to need to check my schedule first.”
“Oh, do I need to call your gofer so he can pencil me into your calendar?” Lucy said with a snort.
“That would be great,” Tim tossed back but she could see the corner of his lip creeping up.
“Don’t make me hurt you,” she warned lightheartedly, swatting his chest.
He captured her wrist swiftly and pulled her in close until her arm was wrapped around his neck. She rested her other palm on his chest, inhaling sharply in anticipation.
“You know what I think?” He teased, the grumble of his voice vibrating against her wrist.
“Hmm?” Lucy hummed, her gaze dropping from his eyes to his lips.
“Forever is a really good place to start.”
When his lips crashed down on hers this time, she felt giddy butterflies take flight in her belly. Their future played like a movie on the back of her eyelids but she blinked them away. The future could wait. She was focused on the here and now with the most important person in her life.
