by gods, for all that i fucking hated the second half of season 9 and had been hating Fiona's characterization since season 5 basically, her leaving doesn't get easier even if you watch the scenes 50 fucking times

#Shameless did Fiona dirty not gonna lie #her characterization progressively getting worse through the season only hurts second to what the show made out of Lip #Ian Gallagher truly the only character to have escaped Paul Abbott's characterization relatively unscathed and staying dear and lovable #till the very last minute #but also i did start on S10 and #popular opinion: Debbie is so fucking annoying and irritating #and a whole entire sack of absolutely irrelevant and nonsensical character traits. season 1 debbie would've roasted s10 debbie on open fire #possibly not so popular opinion: Paul Abbott is actually fucking bad at writing female characters with the exception of V and V ONLY #(okay Mandy too)#and the reason Debbie is fucking abhorrent is because she's literally written as later-seasons Fiona. She's her.#they were both fucked characterizations #it's just that Fiona had a bite and entered into games from the top spot; she took control of the situations naturally #because she //had// power. And Debbie has none. so she looks desperate and try-hard. Emmy Rossum brought a bitch flavour to Fiona #that Emma Kenney just can't bring to Debbie #¯\_(ツ)_/¯#not that i care. the entirety of Shameless cast have more or less become absolete in narrative and plot save Kev and V and Ian/Mickey #I hope Cameron Monaghan's health insurance covered for the fucked up back he got #from carrying Shameless US' only substantial and heartfelt and meaningful plotline for 12 years basically #Lip used to be wonderful. Hell; they all used to be wonderful. and by the time we get to S10 there's basically nothing left of the show #save Ian and Mickey. that's it.

redesigning these guys because i missed them

#jor hates shopping so they put off buying new clothes till the last minute. so literally nothing they have fits anymore. SAD #i decided to not bother making a ref for them skinny because i never draw that. you can figure it out im sure. in my mind this is ~5 months #into Doing It and about 8 months since they met. these guys are not very good at moving slow which is probably a bad thing but hey!#it worked out for them i suppose. dont move in with a guy after only knowing him for a week #also nobody asked but i like doing animal hybrids so in my mind mixed species things are very common but you tend to just mostly take after #one parent or the other.#🍔#also no naked version because i couldnt be bothered #🦕

Messaged my spontaneous/flaky/last minute friend to be like. Can we PLEASE arrange to meet up a few days advance to do something I know I can definitely do (that preferably doesn't involve a bunch of other people I don't know) because I CANNOT DO spontaneous meeting up and I feel bad every time she suggests meeting up, like, TOMORROW, with no details like time or place, and I have to be like "No." even if I'm technically free

one of the central tensions of amy's character (and this ties into the narrative tensions of that era, with why the amyrory/doctorriver structure is awkward) is that external youth is enshrined and internal youth is an obstacle to overcome. amy is only present if she is young and beautiful and is quickly gotten rid of when that isnt the case. but internal youth - her "childish" belief in the doctor and what that entails - while vital to the continuation of the narrative is something she's demeaned for. but it also means that they cant make any movement towards actually showing her growing up + losing faith because that also means losing the appeal of external youth (in the writers' minds, because 34 to them is a old crone)

#the larger conclusion of this is just that the main failing of that era #is wanting to write a story about a woman settling down but also keep amy a long running character #so she believes in 11 till the very last minute and her ending is boring and pointless #and im repeating myself who care

#A good episode. Nice animation. It's suuuuuuch a shame things had to go downhilla right for episode 3 like... That's such an awful timing #And I'm like very evry positive I'm not making stuff up. I will let drawings quality slide since that's a matter of personal taste #But the animation is infinitely more static in ep3.#There's endless shots (that literally span for minutes. I know I've counted) where nothing happens. It's so hhhhhhhhhhhh #(Btw for anyone who forgot / wasn't there at the time: the first 3 season 5 episodes had to be ready earlier for an early screening.#That's why they had to rush to make them and the quality suffered for it in the last episode in particular.)#Sorry for being redoundant but you know how it is. I'm ss/kk-manifesto. I'll be complaining about s5ep3 till the end of Tumblr #Back to the real ep1 in question... It was so nice!!!#I take issues with the amv opening because seriously. Don't release a season if you're not ready to release a season. No one will get mad #But other than that the animation and drawings were very nice. This arc makes me a little emotional.#It's funny how you can see the anime editing staff gradually get really into chromatic aberration lol.#Like it's always been present as far as I can remember–#but it went from season 1 being used very sporadically to s5ep1 being used in every single shot lol.#It's okay tho it's not bothersome the slightest. It gives some kinf of depth to the shot I suppose.#Even funnier that Harukawa has been using it a lot in their last colour illustrations as well ahah.#Last chapter it was very noticeable both in the chapter cover and color page #Mmmmhhhh...#When Atsushi says “I know where Kamui-san is! He's in the middle of an assassination!”; isn't that a kind of plot hole?#I don't think in reality Fukuchi was killing anyone at all at that point.#And even if Ranpo says otherwise‚ looking back we can be fairly certain that Fukuchi never plotted to seriously assassinate the ada #Idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#There's some little lines from the manga I was missing this episode. The “I hate dealing with this decay member the most”.#The “Great! Anything you want! Just say ‘I want this case solved’ and I'll step right up and—”.#I know it's really nothing at all / perfectly understandable cuts...#But at the same time they really add to the overall pacing and make the story flow much more enjoyable for me (≧▽≦)#random rambles
