yayyyyy i love assigning cars to muses ^_^ i'm not as good at these sort of lists as u but i'm gonna try hard and really believe in myself and you're gonna smile and nod at all of it because what;s the alternative? to challenge me and look like a total bitch? exactly.

cora i want to say drives something like a 2017 kia forte, in the dark reddish maroon color. she bought it second hand after crashing her former and first car, an older pontiac sunfire. it was also secondhand and shitty, but she insisted on saving and spending all on her own. she could've had something better, but unfortunately has a brain disease that makes her repel her loving and helpful parents.

ezra strikes me as a station wagon guy. i think he could have wanted to make it happen on his own, in which case i see him in something like a 2000s subaru outback in the green color. austin clapped him on the shoulder for that one. if you see him in something more modern, i'm thinking a white 2019 tiguan.

zoe is a jeep renegade girlie, in graphite grey (i think? i toyed with black and white and the blue color). i'm thinking something more generic like the grey because she's for sure leasing it on her teacher's salary. maybe leasing to buy, but definitely leasing. she's the sort of girl that has decorative coasters in her cup holders and some macrame something orother hanging from her rearview. she's got a sparkly bath and body works fragrance holder on her driver's side visor and she's always got a fresh warm vanilla sugar insert on deck

maisyn drives a 2009 ford focus, in the blue/grey sort of color. there's a taco bell 5-layer burrito stain on the upholstery, right where she dropped in between her legs eating one-handed on the road. she's got a fat stack of CDs that are always spilling out of her center console, the cases of many having cracks in the plastic for being stepped on in her passenger seat. when people get in her car, she has to get out and remove the canvas totes and birkenstocks tossed into and never removed from her back seat along with the week-old dunkin' bag she was using to collect trash like napkins and straw rappers. she does this outside of people's houses, btw. doesn't prepare in advance.

ayla drives a mercedes gle coupe, in maybe a white or a red depending on how bougie we see her. this is all based off of you saying she appreciates the name brand and sensuality of a dove bar. we've never discussed her but i love your characterization. she's the kim kardashian of this family; she's hot and she's got main character syndrome. you know she feels hot as hell driving around in her little black slit sunglasses. she's got an off-white flower hair clip clapsed to her passenger side mirror, whole car smells like expensive perfume and her marc jacobs tote bag is perpetually riding shotgun. she uses apple carplay to stream music and be alerted to new text messages, which she replies to by manually texting and driving. fortunately, she's got decently quick reflexes (years of practice?) so she hasn't yet rear-ended anyone doing so, but she's definitely had a few close calls.

rylan oh you know he drives a hybrid of some sort (again based on waht you said about him and ice cream) and won't let anyone forget it. maybe a 2017-ish toyota prius prime. austin went with him to help pick it out; talked a big game about helping him navigate the dealership, but ultimately ended up folding to an outrageous offer too soon. fortunately, rylan walked in there with a plan and was able to negotiate for himself. austin was so proud, and when he recounted the story to camryn later, he claimed it was his plan all along to see how the kid did for himself.

orla is a only a baby, so jot that down. maybe she's a late bloomer or maybe she's failing to launch, but i do think she's indulged by camryn and austin a little. they're adamant they're not enabling her, because she has had stuff going on and benefits from the healthy, cozy environment in the hanna home. she doesn't have a car of her own, but borrows her parents' when she needs to get around. she's scratched up the honda pilot in the past, so her privileges have officially been revoked per austin. i think they're a two-car household and i could see camryn with something cute and sleek like maybe a black mazda 3, especially as the kids are older and she needs to transport less. that one is much easier for orla to navigate in.

Is it possible to correct mileage on VW MQB RH850 R7F7014xx dashboard by CG100X? Need cut wire or lift pin?

Yes. CG100X programmer has this function now. Need to update the software to V1.4.1.0.

Le nouveau Ford Escape Hybrid et la Mustang Mach-E Rally

Se pourrait-il que Ford ait tellement fait attendre ses clients de VUS Escape que ceux-ci se soient désintéressés du véhicule? J’ai un jeune voisin qui a commandé un tel véhicule pour remplacer un Nissan Rogue (très fatigué et, sincèrement, un peu décevant au point de vue fiabilité) il y a déjà plus d’un an et qui ne l’a pas encore reçu! Maintenant, il voit d’autres options de présenter à lui et c’est à se demander s’il ne regrette pas son premier choix!

Entretemps, moi, j’ai réussi à mettre la main sur un Escape Hybrid de presse (mais pas PHEV enfichable). Je l’ai roulé quelques jours pour apprendre que ce pourrait bien être le dernier Escape de Ford. En effet, les ventes ne sont plus ce qu’elles étaient et c’est compréhensible puisque le constructeur américain a su créer pendant ce temps, un petit VUS plus excitant à regarder reposant sur la même plateforme, le Bronco Sport (qui, par contre, n’est pas disponible en version Hybrid). D’autre part, les rumeurs veulent que Ford soit à préparer un remplaçant tout électrique à l’Escape. Ce sera, vous vous en doutez, un VUS compact de même gabarit que l’Escape qui pourrait porter un autre nom…

Donc, le nouvel Escape est enfin parmi nous avec une caisse très semblable à celle du modèle précédent mais avec un avant complètement redessiné incluant une large calandre maintenant typique à Ford, de nouveaux phares au look plus agressif, un capot refait et des feux arrière plus effilés. Notons que les diverses finitions ne sont plus appelées S, SE, SEL et Titanium mais plutôt Active, ST-Line et Platinum. Mon véhicule d’essai était un ST-Line.

Quoique le nouvel Escape ait conservé ses dimensions originales, on le dirait un peu plus imposant. Disons que, comparativement à sa concurrence (qui est plutôt vive incluant les Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan et Kia Sportage de ce monde), il affiche une apparence un peu plus moderne et agressive.

L’intérieur de l’Escape a aussi été revu. On le dirait un peu plus spacieux que celui de la concurrence. En tout cas, il donne une impression plus dégagée avec plus d’espace de débattement. Le tableau de bord est un peu plus «occupé» à cause de son imposant écran servant à la radio, le GPS et la caméra de marche arrière. Le bloc d’instrumentation est bien placé devant le conducteur permettant une lecture facile et précise. Toutefois, plusieurs commandes du tableau de bord sont répétées au volant  Évidemment, le «levier» de changements de vitesses n’est plus un levier comme tel mais plutôt une commande rotative placée au centre de la console entre les deux sièges où il y a aussi des commandes pour aider à la motricité dans la neige, le sable ou la boue. Parce que mon Escape d’essai était à traction intégrale! Soit-dit en passant, la finition de cet Escape ST-Line m’a paru plutôt élégante avec une finition moins «plastique».

Et les places arrière valent la peine d’être mentionnées ne serait-ce que par l’espace que les passagers y trouveront avec beaucoup de débattement pour la tête et les jambes. En même temps, les dossiers de ces sièges peuvent se rabattre pour aider à augmenter la capacité de chargement du coffre. Méfiez-vous, toutefois, malgré que l’Escape propose beaucoup de place pour les bagages (tant en configuration régulière ou allongée grâce au dossiers des sièges arrière repliables), ce VUS demeure un véhicule compact avec un espace limité. L’accès au coffre se fait par un hayon arrière à commande électrique.

Une mécanique un peu simple.

Malgré le fait que Ford ait connu un certain succès avec l’option Hybrid de la première génération de son Escape (au début des années 2000), cette option fut abandonnée momentanément pour nous revenir en 2023. Dans ce cas, le moteur principal est, maintenant, un quatre cylindres de 2,5 litres (avec cycle Atkinson) combiné à deux moteurs électriques connectés à des batteries de 10,7 kWh de puissance ce qui annonce une puissance combinée de 210 chevaux. Cet ensemble transmet sa puissance aux quatre roues par l’entremise d’une boîte de vitesses constamment variable (CVT). Mon véhicule d’essai était chaussé de pneus Bridgestone Ecopia.

Sur la route

Il y a déjà un petit VUS Escape devant la porte chez nous, un modèle 2017 à traction intégrale qui appartient à ma compagne. Ce dernier est mû par un quatre cylindres turbocompressé de 1,5 litre mais avec boîte automatique mécanique. J’ai donc un peu d’expérience dans le domaine des Escape. Évidemment, le modèle Hybrid dont il est question ici lui est nettement supérieur, ne serait-ce que par sa configuration hybride.

Cependant, mon véhicule d’essai était surtout plus silencieux. Question performance, ça se ressemble un peu avec un temps d’accélération de zéro à 100 km/h en moins de huit secondes et des temps de reprise appréciables. La conduite demeure stable et précise mais ne ressemble pas à celle du Bronco Sport. En fait, ni l’un, ni l’autre ne se comporte comme une voiture sport mais l’Escape s’approche plus d’un véhicule de luxe qu’un 4 x 4 avec des aptitudes hors-route comme le Bronco Sport. En d’autres mots, l’Escape pourrait se tirer d’affaire dans un petit sentier mais ce n’est pas son rôle. Toutefois, en hiver, avec des pneus appropriés, sa traction intégrale devient un atout intéressant.

Mentionnons ici que la toute dernière génération d’Escape peut venir avec la toute dernière génération de Sync 4 qui inclut tellement d’accessoires de divertissement et de possibilités de connectivité. De plus, avec des options comme les aides à la conduite Co-Pilot 360, plusieurs conducteurs retrouveront une certaine confiance au volant! En passant, en conduite urbaine, ses dimensions respectables rendent l’Escape facile à conduire et à garer (surtout avec l’aide au stationnement et les caméras intégrées).

Le nouvel Escape affiche une capacité de remorquage de 3500 livres mais qu’avec le quatre cylindres EcoBoost de 2,0 litres. Dans ses versions Hybrid, cette configuration tombe à 1500 livres. Notons que le poids de l’Escape gravite autour des 4000 livres. En ce qui a trait à sa consommation, mes quelques jours passés au volant de ce populaire VUS compact de Ford se sont soldés par une consommation moyenne de 5,1 l./100 km.  

Mais là où le bât blesse, c’est de voir à quel prix ce genre de petit véhicule qui se devait d’être populaire se vend actuellement. Notez que cette remarque s’applique aussi à la plupart de ses concurrents alors que pas plus tard qu’il y a deux semaines, Statistique Canada publiait que le prix moyen d’un véhicule automobile au Canada s’établissait autour de 64 500 $ ! Alors, mon Escape Hybrid d’essai (ST-Line Elite AWD HEV) affichait un prix de base de 47 379 $. Mais avec des options comme le toit panoramique Vista de 1750 $, les carpettes avant et arrière de 250 $, l’ensemble de remorquage de Classe II de 700 $, les jantes en aluminium de 19 pouces et surtout l’équipement de technologie haut de gamme de 2200 $ (sonorisation Bang & Olufsen, navigation, assistance au stationnement, l’affichage à tête haute et plus encore) en plus de la taxe d’accise fédérale de 100 $ pour la climatisation et le transport et la préparation, on en arrive à un prix final de 55 474 $. Ouf!

On ne peut pas dire que l’Escape Hybrid n’est pas un véhicule agréable à posséder, à utiliser et à conduire. Mais l’actuelle demande pour les plus petits VUS ne va pas en augmentant à moins que vous recherchiez un modèle de luxe. Mais…ainsi va la vie!

La nouvelle Mustang Mach-E Rally…pourquoi?

Ford vient de dévoiler aux clients potentiels nord-américains une version…hors-route (!) de son VUS tout électrique Mustang Mach E, la version Rally.

En fait, ce véhicule spécialisé a été montré pour la première fois au Salon de Munich la semaine dernière avant d’être présenté en privé via Internet aux journalistes. Après avoir pris beaucoup d’amateurs de sports motorisés par surprise avec la version Raptor de son F-150 (un pick-up développé pour des excursions à haute vitesse dans les régions désertiques du sud-ouest américain), voilà que Ford s’attaque aux VUS électrifiés pour inciter les automobilistes à conduire leur véhicule en situation hors-route un peu partout dans le monde (même en Europe où la Mach-E est commercialisée).

Ford a donc pris une Mach-E GT à deux moteurs électriques (pour la motricité aux quatre roues) de quelque 480 chevaux et 650 li-pi de couple (avec batterie de 91 kWh d’une autonomie d’environ 405 km) auquel la suspension a été relevée de 20 mm. Ford lui a ajouté des amortisseurs MagneRide et des freins Brembo à l’avant alors que les jantes de 19 pouces reçoivent des pneus Michelin Cross-Climate 2 (homologués toutes saisons) 235/55R19. Les réglages de suspension incluent désormais le mode RallySport alors que la conduite autonome Blue Cruise figure au catalogue des accessoires. Aucun prix n’a encore été dévoilé mais on reconnaîtra alors les Mach-E Rally à leur déflecteur arrière qui ne sera pas sans nous rappeler celui des Focus RS.

Au point de vue marketing, l’idée semble bonne. Mais les propriétaires de Mach-E vont-il vraiment attaquer des sentiers hors-route? Et puis, «what’s next»? Des coupés Mustang avec ensembles d’apparence NASCAR? Des mini-pick-up Maverick en finition Raptor? Wow! L’imagination n’a pas de limite!

Où sont les policiers?

En revenant d’un petit voyage dans le Maine dernièrement, j’ai été confronté à un camionneur de semi-remorque qui ne semblait respecter ni Dieu, ni Diable. Il poussait à sa limite son véhicule s’approchant très près des autos plus lentes dépassant largement la vitesse affichée de 70 km/h dans une zone de construction sur la route 15 longeant le Fleuve Saint-Laurent. J’ai toujours eu beaucoup de respect pour les camionneurs (surtout que j’ai collaboré pendant plus de 25 ans au magazine L’Écho du Transport) mais celui-là (ou…celle-là…peut-être), il (ou elle) manquait complètement d’intelligence. Je n’ai pas bien vu le nom de la compagnie de transport vu que nous étions de soir mais je crois que je reconnaîtrais le camion si je le revoyais surtout qu’il s’agissait d’un tracteur assez récent (fort possiblement un Freightliner) avec une semi-remorque ancienne et moins entretenue. Pas de police en vue (je me doute que l’on plaidera le manque de personnel …«short staffed»…). Ce n’est malheureusement pas un cas rare. Même chez les automobilistes, il y a des fous que l’on devrait pouvoir dénoncer (et ici, j’aime bien les plaques dites «personnalisées»! Il y en a une que j’ai en tête sur un VUS importé…je l’ai même vu deux fois rouler en fou sans respect pour les autres, un monsieur vraiment pressé!)…

Author Note: I thought it'd be very fitting to make my first OT7 post about cars that I think would suit them. Im a self proclaimed "car girl" and think the car you drive says a lot about you. I was going to link all of these for images but that would take WAY too long. Most I feel are self explanatory, but feel free to google of course!
