Hi erk!! Thanks so much for sending in all your questions, it took me a bit to get through them all but I had so much fun answering them! 😁 Hope you like! Buckle in, this is a long one folks.

Nauticus

👕- 16. Is your character's appearance more telling or deceiving? ↪ Nauticus is way more telling than he is deceiving. You can tell he’s a turian that's been on the battlefield for a majority of his life. A lot of his face plate armor is cracked and has little nicks from his old age, but he always makes sure his face markings are dark and fresh. It’s pretty telling that even though he basically should be retired, he’s still kicking!

👕- 1. What is your character's favorite physical trait they possess? ↪ His face markings or his hands. He could always remove his face paint since it’s artificial, but he deeply cares about the history attached to it and the people that wore it before him. Nauticus is also pretty fond of how rough and worn his palms look. He’s proud of all the hard work he’s put into his life as a soldier, commander, and eventual general. The only thing that he cares about when it comes to how he physically looks is that he comes off as a well loved antique from the battlefield. 

👕- 12. Has your character gone through major stylistic or physical changes? ↪ In terms of when it comes to designing him, not really! I always imagined him as an old man who looks like he’s seen some shit. If we’re talking about character-wise, he’s had plenty of physical changes throughout the years. I think they’re catching up to him, you can really see it in how tired his eyes are and the cracks on his lips.

🎲- 2. Does your character have a secret hobby? ↪ Gun modifications. He sure does love a good explosive, but he’ll never let anyone know he’s always had a loose screw rattling in there. Something about poking at weapons made by other species always makes him very curious. How did they add their own little flair to this weapon? There’s a thing or two you can learn from your enemies. 

🎲- 8. Is your character more outdoorsy or indoorsy? ↪ It’s really hard to say! He adores the days of being able to feel a planet’s wind through his fringe while sniping down an enemy in his scope. He’s unfortunately a lot slower than he used to be, so cover in a building is preferred than being out in the open. It’s hard for him to imagine himself anyplace different than a battlefield.

🎲- 12. What kind of music does your character enjoy? ↪ Lounge Jazz. Humans were onto something with that one. It’s a guilty pleasure, but he always says “I didn’t pick it, the VI did.” Azailick has caught his dad humming to himself on occasion, but he doesn’t say anything about it.

👕- 1. What is your character's favorite physical trait they possess? ↪ I think Az is pretty happy with how pointy his fringe is. It’s not perfect or straight by any means, but I think he finds it charming. He started to appreciate it more when Apsot started to grow his in and thought, “The boy looks just like me!” 

👕- 3. Is there something about your character's appearance that they would change if possible? ↪ His face markings. He could, but oh god would that NOT look good. I think a lot of people who talk to him about it don’t understand the significance of basically erasing an established identity because he finds it “uncomfortable”. The history attached to his markings is the thing that made him start to resent his family after the First Contact War. His reasoning above all is that he wants to leave a good impression on Apsot, who would most certainly have questions and probably tattle on him to his ex-wife. He would never hear the end of it.

👕- 7.Is there someone your character tries to look similar to? ↪ Az has lived the mirror image of his dad for his entire life, so I think the only next best option would be the general concept of “a good person”. 

👕- 9. What does your character smell like? ↪ What an interesting question! I think leather wax, armor polish, and something really earthy. Maybe try something like cinnamon, vanilla, and patchouli for Kara to think he smells sexy. 😋

🍽️- 2. Would your character prefer baking, cooking or mixing drinks? ↪ Az would 100% prefer to cook. He doesn’t drink like that, and I honestly have no clue if turians would be the type to bake things like muffins and cake? I’m imagining flatbreads and things with lots of spice like capsaicin. I think he can make some mean kebabs though.

Apsot

🍽️- 10. What is a childhood meal your character cherishes? ↪ I think Apsot really likes the dextro equivalent of sweet & spicy pepper jelly on flatbread. No one does it better like dad does, and it’ll stay a favorite comfort food for awhile.

🍽️- 15. What food or drink does your character consider a treat? ↪ Get this boy a pretzel and he’ll be set for like an hour. Fully imagining him crunching down on dextro chocolate dipped pretzel sticks with nuts on them.

🌤️- 8. What type of environment does your character like best? ↪ Nothing sounds nicer to Apsot than sitting with his dad in their little Citadel apartment and watching all the skycars go by at their bay window. Pretty good nap spot too, lots of artificial light manages to make it a nice sun spot to lay under. 

🌤️- 10. How would your character react to snow? ↪ Dazzled and Cold. He’s probably heard about it from Kenzie, but to actually see it in person would probably fill him with wonder. Palaven is so hot, I’ve imagined a lot of Turians have no idea what snow would be like unless they’re from high places that have it.

🎲- 1. What kind of games does your character most enjoy playing? ↪ Tag. Kenzie taught him and when it starts he will go into little soldier mode to chase down his sister. He has a Krogan friend that loves playing along, although it results in far more bruises…

🎲- 9. What is a topic your character would be excited to talk about? ↪ Ships! Apsot loves ships. He will never shut up about how space fairing voyagers work, how mass effect cores work, how other species design and engineer their ships, you name it. This little guy can fit so many ship facts in his head!

The Stranger

you know i don't consider the citadel dlc to be canon to my shepard's story but all this armax arena playing i'm doing is making me think of a no-reapers athlete au. our guys are actually just a really skilled simulated combat team. they're one of the first large multispecies teams actually. the fans go crazy. they have biases and ship the players and make little gifsets of their matches. they're on magazine covers and news interviews constantly. they have a lot of controversy around them, for their personal politics and affiliations and how they all seem to get along besides their ties. enemy factions like cerberus or collectors or whatever are just the names of competing teams. the shepard/garrus stans are vindicated when they celebrate a big win by smooching as their match ends, going public for the first time. even MORE controversy from that. but it's ok because they make the arena so much god damn money it hardly even matters. it's sooo fun to think about

now that I'm really looking at it, I think he actually has a sword? Which is honestly even more cunty because why do you need that in this sci-fi world Saren. Maybe it's a neat detail about his Turian background that Bioware never explored cause they scrapped it early 🤔
