Inheritance Games (Retelling from Jameson's POV)
summary: A retelling of when Jameson Hawthorne and Avery Grambs first met, but this time, it's from Jameson's POV.
pairing: Avery Grambs x Jameson Hawthorne
word count: 642
word count: This post may be super niche but I can't bring myself to care because I love these two and this was so fun to write!!
The old man was dead. His will was about to be read. And I was horribly drunk.
“If yes is no and once is never, then how many sides does a triangle have?” I sat on the edge of a balcony, balancing precariously on the iron railing. The winter wind blew against my bare chest. I must have forgotten my shirt somewhere in the process of trying to forget everything: the old man, the will, the mess he had left us in…
“You’re going to fall.” A girl, with thick ashy-brown hair called out from below. Her pretty face looked guarded, carefully arranged into expressionless neutrality. She must have been the poor soul the old man dragged into his will reading. Into this family.
“An interesting proposition.” A smirk tugged the edge of my lips. Falling wasn’t the worst fate that could befall a Hawthorne.
“That wasn’t a proposition.” Her gaze was sharp, as if she was trying to see right through me. I grinned lazily in return.
“There’s no shame in propositioning a Hawthrone.”
Her face twisted for a brief second, before morphing into something unreadable. Her eyes traveled from my face, down my body.
“You must be Mystery Girl.” I said.
“I’m Avery.” She stated, looking like the last place she wanted to be was here. Funny, I could relate to that sentiment.
“Whatever you say M.G.” I responded. “Can I call you M.G., Mystery Girl?” The question was rhetorical. I would do what I wanted, and she looked like the type to let me.
“No.” She replied.
I ignored her in favor of bringing my feet up to the railing instead, wobbling slightly while standing up. What would it be like to fall from this height? Looking down, I saw a wave of panic flashing in her hazel eyes. Probably dangerous then. I shifted my weight, lifting another foot up. The old man was gone, and all he had left behind was a naive, little girl. How ridiculous.
This whole situation was ridiculous.
“Don’t!” She cried out. I twisted, instinctively grabbing the railing with my hands. My body hung vertically, feet dangling in the air for a moment. Then I fell. Right beside her.
“You shouldn’t be out here, M.G.”
“Neither should you.” Her cheeks were flushed. Maybe it was from the cold. Or maybe it was from meeting my family. Either way, it shouldn’t concern me.
“If I do what I should no more often than I say what I shouldn’t, My lips twisted of their own accord. “Then what does that make me?”
I watched her connect the dots, recognition lighting her eyes as she reassessed me. James Hawthorne. I took a step closer to her. She continued to stare.
“What,” I repeated. “Does that make me?”
She looked away. For some reason, that disappointed me.
“Drunk.” She stated simply. I opened my mouth with a retort, but she beat me to it. “And two.”
“What?” The words fell out of my mouth, unbidden.
“The answer to your first riddle,” She looked at me again. This time, I noticed the golden flecks dancing in her eyes. “If yes is no and once is never, then the number of sides a triangle has… is… two.”
She didn’t bother explaining her answer. She didn’t need to. Instead, she stated it like it was an obvious fact, as if we were merely talking about something trivial, like the blueness of the sky. Something akin to intrigue thrummed underneath my skin. Maybe I had misread this girl, but even if I had, I suppose it didn’t matter. I had been down this road before - this wouldn’t be any different.
“Touche, M.G.” I brushed past her, arms barely touching. Something flickered within me, but I immediately tamped it down. “Touche.”

Rewatching Nightmare Time and listing things that aren't appreciated enough (5)
Perky's Buds
This is Grace's first on-screen appearance and it literally starts with her being sprayed with shit.
Gabe feels like he was also supposed to be NPMD somehow but got lost along the day in the writing room. And for as funny as it is, I wish Jeff got a bit more to do than cameo.
The Metzgers being one of the best examples of a horror hillbilly family. Especially Dylan as Bob
The fact Ziggy just refers to them as "those republicans"
"tig ol' bitties"
The fact that the plot is a marijuana themed retelling of Animal Farm.
The ending song showing that Ziggy is only good at traditional graphic design and not digital.
Abstinence Camp
How good Corey looks while smoking a cigar
"I'd like to have an intelligent conversation with you, in other words, shut up."
A classic decapitation-bate joke
"Well, if you two can't keep your hands to yourselves, I'll cut'em off!" We always talk about Boy Jerry's goofy threats but we don't talk about this enough
Pete owns a shake-weight
Ted's jazz mag saves the day, let that sink in.

The Top Twenty Books I Read in 2023
Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell (1949): I thought somebody would make me read this book in school, but no one ever did. Now that I've read it, let me just say...mark me down as horny and scared! No, I will not explain what I mean by that.
Prairie Fires by Caroline Fraser (2017): In this examination of Laura Ingalls Wilder's life and work, Fraser skillfully weaves a portrait of two complicated women (Wilder and her daughter/editor Rose Wilder Lane) with an overview of large swathes of American history. The examination of how Wilder and Lane adapted Wilder's life experiences into autobiographical fiction and why they made those choices is particularly interesting.
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver (2022): This is a retelling of David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, transplanted to Appalachia in the 1990s-2000s. Kingsolver retains the warmth and the pathos of the original, and the narrative voice is great.
Song of the Magdalene by Donna Jo Napoli (1996): Miriam, a Jewish girl in first-century Magdala, finds her life altered by unexplained seizures, which she must keep secret, and a first love that ends in tragedy. Napoli often brings it when it comes to thoughtful portrayals of disability and unexpectedly weird sensuality, and this novel is one of her best.
My Sweet Audrina by V.C. Andrews (1982): Audrina Adare, a young girl with severe memory problems, lives in an isolated Virginia mansion with her domineering father and various deranged female relatives...and it gets worse. This is V.C. Andrews at her most deliciously perverse and lurid, and I was definitely rooting for Audrina to close the portal.
I Never Asked You to Understand Me by Barthe DeClements (1986): Faced with her mother's terminal cancer diagnosis and the unhelpfulness of most adults in her life, fifteen-year-old Didi ends up at an alternative school for truancy and finds a friend in Stacy, a would-be runaway whose home life is even more dire. This 1980s YA problem novel always gets me, thanks to the author's gentle, empathetic treatment of her messy teenage characters.
Black Swan Green by David Mitchell (2006): Jasons, a thirteen-year-old boy in early-1980s Worchestershire, copes with brutal grade-school politics, a tense home life, various small losses of innocence, and the odd supernatural event over the span of a year. My favorite stretch of the novel was where half a dozen scary/weird/sexually confusing things happen in the course of Jason taking one meandering walk through the countryside.
Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut (1963): I'd been intending to read a Kurt Vonnegut novel since he died in 2007, so don't say I never follow through on anything. This book is extraordinarily fun and absurd, which just enhances the horror of the eventual climax.
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton (1905): Cash-strapped socialite Lily Bart struggles in turn-of-the-century New York society, mainly because she can neither fully commit to gold-digging nor figure out a viable alternative. Her crumbling state, both social and psychological, is horrifying yet fascinating to witness.
The Fell by Sarah Moss (2021): In November 2020, English waitress and single mother Kate breaks quarantine to take a walk through the countryside, with disastrous results. This short novel is lyrical, compassionate, and impressively stressful.
Old Babes in the Woods by Margaret Atwood (2023): This short story collection is split between vignettes featuring elderly couple Nell and Tig, and several standalones that vary wildly in tone and form. All are well-written, but I generally enjoyed the standalones best, especially the poignant "My Evil Mother," the chilling "Freeforall," and the thought-provoking "Metempsychosis."
Beware the Woman by Megan Abbott (2023): Pregnant Jacy goes with her new husband to visit his widowed father in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but a pleasant vacation soon turns into a paranoid nightmare. Abbott's lush descriptions--kind of sexy and kind of gross, as always--enhance a truly disturbing thriller.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1925): This is another book I assumed someone would make me read in school, but I think all my teachers and professors were like "yeah, yeah, The Great Gatsby, we all know what that is." What you don't get from the Baz Luhrmann movie and pop-cultural osmosis, though, is the exquisite secondhand embarrassment of watching Gatsby pursue a married woman who is actually more into her husband, or just how fucking bizarre that husband is.
How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix (2023): Single mother Louise is pulled from San Francisco to her hometown of Charleston by the sudden death of her parents and has to coordinate funeral arrangements with her ne'er-do-well brother Mark...and it gets worse. This isn't the best or the scariest Grady Hendrix novel, but the sibling relationship is compelling and it features the incomparable Pupkin. I love that fucked-up lil hand-puppet.
Seventeen and In-Between by Barthe Declements (1984): High-school senior Elsie Edwards is beautiful, brilliant, and talented, but she's still plagued by the lingering trauma of childhood bullying, her terrible parents, and her complicated feelings for her long-term boyfriend (slightly older and jonesing to Go All the Way) and her male best friend (also trying to figure things out, albeit through working in the lumber industry in Forks, Washington). The Elsie Edwards trilogy is great overall, and Elsie's struggle to figure out how to move beyond her unhappy past is especially moving.
Don't Look and It Won't Hurt by Richard Peck (1972): Carol, the sixteen-year-old middle daughter of a poor divorced waitress, gets a front seat to her older sister's disastrous relationship with a scumbag, experiences her own first romance, and sorts through her feelings about her strained family and stultifying small prairie town. This is a sweet, understated early YA novel that offers a look into the last few years before Roe v. Wade.
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy (2022): In this memoir, McCurdy recounts her relationship with her controlling, abusive late mother and her dispiriting time as a child star on Nickelodeon. I really enjoyed her writing style--clear, conversational, and bracingly pissed off--and she offers some good insight into the acting industry.
Just Like You by Nick Hornby (2020): Joseph, a twentysomething black working-class Londoner balancing his musical aspirations with babysitting gigs and a job at a butcher's shop, stars a romance with Lucy, a fortysomething upper-middle-class white single mom and schoolteacher. This is a pleasant, easygoing love story with some insightful commentary on how ordinary people form political opinions.
The Fourth Grade Wizards by Barthe DeClements (1988): Fourth grader Marianne is distracted in class and adrift at home after her mother's sudden death, but she has a good friend in Jack, who struggles in class because he's hyperactive. You might ask why this list is so dominated by one 1980s middle-grade/YA author, and the answer is that I love her. Also, I did not read all that many new-to-me books last year.
How Do You Lose Those Ninth Grade Blues? by Barthe DeClements (1983): Elsie Edwards, no longer the emotionally battered class pariah she was in Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade but not yet the maturing young woman she'll become in Seventeen and In-Between, starts high school with everything going for her...except her horribly low self-esteem and her still-terrible home life. This is definitely the slightest installment of the trilogy, but it still makes an impact.

WIP Wednesday
Y'all really wanted some Inventor Crystal x Robot Gigi, so here's one of the scenes. Gigi finds some very interesting material online. Gigi uses they/them pronouns at the start of the fic.
----
Crystal had become adept at sensing whenever Gigi wanted to tell her something. That, or their constant hovering around her workbench. Gigi stood entirely still, staring off into nothingness awaiting Crystal's command that it was okay to speak. Crystal laid down her soldering iron to turn her attention to the robot.
"Do you wish to tell me something Gigi?"
"Yes, I have completed my task in searching for things that make people happy." Gigi's mechanical cadence had improved considerably. At the very least, more than their mannerisms would suggest. Their face was still stone cold despite the more bubbly voice Gigi had been using as of late.
"Tell me, please. What did you find?"
"I have through an extensive search on the world wide web, found out that female breast tissue bring people what you call 'joy' and 'happiness'. Furthermore, my research has led me to the conclusion that size does not matter in the enjoyment, but just their mere existence is enough." Gigi's retelling made Crystal confused more than anything. What in the world were they on?
"Gigi what exactly did you watch?" Crystal's voice wavered. She wasn't ready for the answer. She was not ready at all.
"Retrieving browser history. Here's what I found: Tits of Fury, Tig Ol' Bitties, Cum Guzzlers 5, A Tale of Two Titties, Milfbusters–"
"Gigi! That's porn! You've been looking at porn!?" Crystal interjected. All colour had drained from her face. What in the actual hell. Crustal hadn't programmed such an interest into her robot, of that she was sure.
"They were making a lot of happy noises." Trust Gigi to not understand what the problem was at all.
Crystal buried her face in her hands and groaned. This wasn't what she had envisioned when asking Gigi to look up what made people happy on the internet. Actually, that was likely where her problem stemmed from. She rubbed her nose, contemplating her words. How would she tell Gigi that this was an inappropriate use of the computer?
"I'm sure they were. But that's not what I had in mind."
"Did I do bad?" Gigi almost looked dejected, head turned down. Disappointing Crystal was one of the worst things they could do.
"Not at all. I was the one who gave the bad order." Crystal reassured them. She had to be careful with her words next time.
"Understood." Gigi still didn't move despite having given their report. It usually meant they had more to say. Gigi looked at Crystal with the same absent stare like they always did. The whole situation made their lack of expression more comical than scary.
"Er… before we tackle anything else with the research, is there anything else you want to tell me?"
"Yes. I want to issue a request to have female breast tissue installed." Gigi moved their arms to put on their flat chest to demonstrate where they wanted them to go.
It took Crystal a couple seconds to take in what her robot had asked of her. "Why would you want that? And stop fondling yourself!"
"Do you not like the features of the female sex?" Gigi pondered, their arms dropping to their sides.
"That's besides the point."
"Request denied?"
Crystal was about to give up on the conversation to make sense. For whatever reason, her robot seemed adamant on wanting breasts. "Do you really want to have boobs?"
"Yes." Gigi confirmed.
"Screw it, sure, you can have boobs." Gigi's reaction to being told they could have their damn breasts almost didn't make Crystal dread the upcoming hours she was going to spend researching and developing boobs for her live in android. "Is there anything else about your body that you want to be changed, now that we're going to open you up again?"

𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 : WHO ARE YOU ?
name: tessa star sign: taurus height: 5′6″ middle name: i have four names so which one do you really want to know? put your spotify on shuffle. first 6 songs?: yeah no i’m too lazy for that i’ll just link the song i’m listening to right now ever had a poem / song written about you?: i was the person writing poetry when was the last time you played air guitar?: i don’t think i ever did celebrity crush: i’ll get back to you with the answer a sound you hate and a sound you love?: people chewing really loudly on purpose (which is funny because when i was younger, i annoyed someone i used to be friends with by doing the exact same thing) / my cousin’s kid is like four months and i like it when he laughs or just babbles on and on and on do you believe in ghosts?: i think yes how about aliens?: to quote chey: “ya, universe galaxy shit is too big for this to be the only planet with sentient lifeforms” do you drive?: absolutely fucking not x2 if so, have you ever crashed?: have been in a pile up but i wasn’t the driver what was the last book you read?: so many but the city of brass by s.a. chakraborty; also the neverland wars by audrey greathouse because i’m never not obsessed with retellings of any kind do you like the smell of gasoline?: i don’t hate it what was the last movie you saw?: i am currently watching olivia rodrigo’s documentary because that’s all i’ve got energy for atm what’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: fell of a horse a couple of times when i did horseback riding; i once sprained my ankle really bad when i was a kid do you have any obsessions right now?: still big on the syzygy-verse, especially now that i figured out which key component didn’t work and which ones do; it’s gonna take me a lot of rewriting but it’s a challenge i’m willing to step up for / i’m also always thinking about how there are no important characters in the tvdu verse - like we had aimee bradley, played by tiya sircar, who got killed because katherine needed to make a point while amber bradley, a white girl, lived; we had gia in the originals but she got killed by klaus, a white dude, for elijah’s pain who is another white dude (& we also had ivy, who was, iirc, south east asian, and she died too) and in legacies, there was one indian vampire, ig, who helped create malivore but then she (and the wolf and the witch) got eaten by him and we never figured out what happened to her; we also have emma tig, who swans in and out of canon; like holy shit: there’s only one (1) indian character in the entire tvdu verse! / also if i had time & patience & energy i would have made a) a proper garuda shifter oc for the teen wolf verse because they fucked up so bad and b) a proper rakshasa and a proper vetala oc because supernatural fucked that up too / idk it’s probably annoying especially if you really love either or all of the shows i mentioned (which i get it, i love the tvdu and tw too) but i will Never Shut Up about it do you tend to hold grudges?: yeah but i’m trying not to but also: how are you best friends with someone and how do you grow up with them and then, yeah, you kinda grow apart which is life, but not too much because there’s still occasionally contact and also: how can you get married and then not invite someone who’s known you since your birth? rude! in a relationship?: (laughs in trust issues)

Hi darlin'! Could I request a smut prompt with 7. “I was wondering how long you two were going to make out like that before you realize you weren’t alone.” and 9. “I can’t wait until we’re alone. There are so many things I want to do to you right now.” for Jax and Alli, please? Thanks 🥰
Note: Thank you all for being patient with me. I’m just so burnt out. I think this is gonna be one of the last parts of the Jax story. I’m so grateful to everyone who has read, commented or requested for it but I’m not inspired right now for him. I’ll keep writing for the other guys. I’m sorry this is kind of short. I hope you guys still like it.
Jax and All “I was wondering how long you two were going to make out before you realized you weren’t alone.” and “I can’t wait until we’re alone. There are so many things I want to do to you right now.”
Jax was initially invested in the story Piney was retelling. Then he saw Alessandria bend over the pool table. Her jeans hugged her ass and her cleavage was tantalizing. The guys around him laughed but Jax was gone for. He didn’t even try to look elsewhere as she played against Happy. She looked up and smiled, winking at him.
“This man hasn’t been paying attention,” Tig scoffed, “He’s drooling over his old lady.”
“She’s not my old lady,” Jax took a sip of his beer, watching as she cheered once she became tied with Happy.
“Yet,” Piney squeezed his shoulder.
Alli pouted when Happy sunk the eight ball, hugging him before heading to the bar.
“Prospect, she wants a tequila sunrise,” Jax said.
She laughed softly, “How did you know?”
“He’s obsessed with you,” Opie teased.
“I doubt it,” Alli giggled, “But yes, I would like a tequila sunrise.”
The prospect made it and handed it to her, “Here you go, gorgeous.”
Jax’s face fell as the guys all shouted, laughing. Alli giggled and took his hand.
“Come with me,” she whispered.
Still glaring at the prospect, Jax got off the stool and let Alli lead him to the kitchen. He closed the door, watching her look over the food.
She took a sip of her drink, “Why are you staring at me all night?” she smiled.
He laughed softly, “Because you look hot as fuck. You know that.”
“Glaring at boys who tell me I’m gorgeous,” she walked over to stand in front of him, “You jealous?”
“You’re mine,” he gripped her chin, his eyes on hers, “Nobody should be hitting on you.”
“Women always hit on you,” she licked her lips.
Jax groaned, “I can’t fucking concentrate when you do that, babe.”
Alli smirked, “Do what?” she licked her lips.
He pushed her against the kitchen island with the force of his kiss, her free hand on his bicep. She moaned softly and set her drink down before wrapping her arms around his neck. A rough cough pulled them apart. She giggled when she saw Opie standing in the doorway of the kitchen.
He shook his head, “I was wondering how long you two were going to make out before you realized you weren’t alone.”
Jax laughed, “We were alone. Get out.”
“Mom is looking for you,” he grinned and started making himself a plate.
“Fuck,” Jax sighed. He kissed Alli’s neck before walking out of the kitchen.
“Jax and Alli sitting in a tree,” Opie sang quietly.
Alli laughed, “Shut up,” she walked outside and sat on the picnic table.
She watched as Tig and Happy got in the ring, taking a sip of her drink. A moment later, Opie sat on the bench next to her. He started eating as he watched, cheering for Happy. Someone else climbed on the table and pulled Alli back against their chest. She looked up to see Jax smiling.
“Hi again,” she murmured and kissed his cheek.
He wrapped his arms around her waist, his legs resting on the outside of hers. She leaned back against him.
“Love a good fight and a cuddle,” he joked.
She laughed, “I’m having fun.”
He kissed her shoulder, “Good,” he kissed her neck, then under her ear, “I can’t wait until we’re alone. There are so many things I want to do to you right now.”
Alli closed her eyes, fighting a shiver from his lips brushing her ear. She licked her lips and looked up at him, “You think you’re getting me tonight?”
“Hell yes,” he smirked, “You gonna give it up to the bar back? In front of me? Is he the one making you shiver right now, darlin?”
“No,” she smiled when one of his hands moved to her throat, tilting her head back on his shoulder. He kissed her a few times, teasing his tongue against hers.
“I’m eating here,” Opie sighed.
Jax looked down at him, “I’m not fucking her, prude.”
Opie shook his head and pushed at Jax, who laughed and held Alli tighter, “Hey, chill,” he grinned.
All squealed and held onto Jax, “Don’t push me over too,” she giggled.
Opie squeezed Jax’s shoulder after he got up, “Happy for you, bro,” he murmured.
Jax smiled and hugged Alli tighter, “Where were we?” he murmured before kissing under her ear.

The Reaper's Only Daughter
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/2OqkFvV
by L_Nevada
Summary: Schuyler is the only child of an Original Nine member, the only female patch, and the rightful heir to the SAMTEX charter. But in accordance with her father's dying wish, instead of assuming the President patch, she returns to his original chapter in Charming, CA. Follow Schuyler's life-long journey of self-discovery as she tries to honor her father's memory, forge her own path in a male dominated organization, and craft extraordinary relationships only to have them tested as this makeshift family slowly starts to unravel at the seams.
Synopsis: This story is meant to be a retelling of the original series. It will often diverge from canon. It is also meant to tell the story from the perspective of B and C list characters bringing them to the foreground. The story is told in present tense 3rd person omniscient, retelling the origins of the SOA if Edward "Midnight Sky" Schuyler had been an Original Nine Member and best friends with Piney and John and ends long after the series finale. Along with filling in blanks during canon time skips and adding original characters throughout, original story lines and minor character traits may be altered to give a fresh new look to this series and its characters.

The Favor [Gwilym Lee x Reader] Part VI
Masterlist | Gwilym Lee Masterlist
<<Previous | >> Next
Pairing: Gwilym Lee x Reader
Warnings: this one gets angsty.
A/N: I am sorry, I had to write this.
Gwil held the bouquet of flowers with both hands, he and Joe were not sure of how to approach the situation but they did the best they could on this rare day off.
It had all started a few weeks back, (Name) had invited Gwil to her father’s exhibition and the two seemed to get along more than just fine; had it not been that the actor was busy with the project, he would have asked her out but he knew he had to remain focused on his work. She, for once, was content with the friendliness of their relationship. Having ended things with Rufus in an odd place made her feel like working and nothing else, Roger made it easy for her, he was having meetings left and right and soon with the movie going to post-production and premiering he would need her more than ever.
Of course things never worked out how one wanted, and (Name) could not attend to her job properly after her father returned to South Africa; he got ill again, this time for the worst. A couple years back he had been diagnosed with skin cancer, which was taken care of as it was detected early; but this time the cancer was in a different more difficult place to treat. It was in his brain. Everyone thought the same thing, and Roger did not even doubt giving her the time off so she could go and see her father. The journey left her tired and the following weeks tested her like nothing else ever had. Her father’s conditioned worsened with each passing day and although the prognosis was bad, (Name) remained hopeful that she would at least get a few more weeks with her before the inevitable happened. It was a Sunday morning when all hopes she had finally shattered, Peter Y/L/N passed away during the night. At least during his sleep, peacefully in his own bed, surrounded by flowers from his friends all over the world, in the place he loved most and with his only daughter cuddled next to him.
Roger hated to pick up the phone that afternoon, seeing the number and knowing it was from Peter’s home in Johannesburg he thought it would be his assistant with an update on her father’s health, she never told them just how bad it was so the news came without even a warning only the soft voice of this young woman holding back her tears as she spoke on the phone.
“I’m bringing him back to London,” she croaked, a runny nose evident to her boss on the other end of the line, “he wants...wanted to be buried next to his parents. It will take a couple of day, I hope you don’t mind...”
“Of cours not, Kitten,” Roger felt a sting in his eyes, (Name) was an upbeat song with a catchy tune, listening to her like this made him worry. “Do you need anything? Any help?”
Sarina and Lola came into the living room to find Roger talking on the phone, they understood poorly but caught on once they could see the drummer’s expression. Tigs would be fuming when she realized she had been late to the news.
“Thank you,” she sniffed on the other end of the line, he punched by the small gesture, “Dad’s manager is taking care of most of it. Thank you, Roger.”
They could not see each other but they both smiled into th phone at that moment. Silence fell for a second before the old drummer assured (Name) that he and his family were there for her, in case she needed anything.
She traveled back home with a casket, bothered by the media. Paparazzi following her out of the airport and to her old home where she would be staying until the funeral.
And so now, here were Joe and Gwilym standing outside her door, unable to say a word that could console their friend.
“Maybe we should just...” Joe paused, “be here.”
“Yeah...” Gwil nodded in agreement.
The tallest one rang the bell and the two waited in silence until the door was opened by (Name) herself. She looked nothing like they remembered.
She seemed to be paler than ever, her hair usually so carefully styled was now tied back into a dull ponytail. Dark circles surrounded her reddened eyelids and the E/C irises they remembered looked almost dead. Her black sweater matched her black pants.
She stepped to the side to let them in. Gwilym felt stupid giving her the flowers, but still did so in silence. The house was quiet and big enough for a family of six, it only made her loneliness echo and bounce on each wall. The only company she had had since coming back had been Peter’s manager and lawyer; she refused to have the Taylors see her right now even though she knew she needed company. This was a surprise, but she opened the door and held the flowers.
Her eyes fell on the bright blue petals of the fluffy asters.
“From the cast and crew,” Gwil explained in a soft tone.
“Thank you.” She mumbled with a raspy voice, unable to form a smile or look up at her friends.
Joe bent his knees and tilted his body back, pursing his lips before opening his arms and offering (Name) his most sincerest condolences. She gave him a cold hug and did not bother to look at his face at all.
“I appreciate it, Joe.” She recited like a child would in a school play. “Would you like some tea?”
Gwil accepted the offer and started following her through the narrow hall into a large living room, a piano sat closed in the corner and past the double doors they walked into the dining room.
“I’ll take some coffee,” Joe let out, making her stop and look over her shoulder with a frown.
Did she even have coffee in the house? Her father’s manager and his wife had been the ones who brought in the groceries so she would have to find out.
Gwilym turned to Joe, shaking his head. He opened his eyes as wide as they could go and tilted his head to the side with a stern look, to which Joe then added:
“Actually, yes! Tea sounds wonderful, (Name), thanks!”
She kept on walking and they were brought into a large spacious white kitchen.
(Name) pulled one of the tall chairs out and told the men to sit by the kitchen island while she poured some water into a bright yellow kettle that already rested atop the stove empty.
“So how are you holding up?” Joe asked in a discreet manner, leaning forward on the cold marble top of the island.
(Name) reached up and opened one fo the cupboards, finding a package of biscuits she then put on a plate and brought to the guys.
She stared at the sink in front of her and scratched a spot over her left brow. How was she holding up? Was she even holding up? She had been unable to go to her own apartment, the press was already waiting for her there. And the news everywhere spoke of her father, telling tales of his wonderful career, talent, failed marriage and surviving daughter.
She could not sleep, waking up in cold sweats from the nightmares. Consumed by guilt, (Name) was guilty for staying in England while her father followed his heart to another continent, doing what most wouldn’t do. She had been an awful daughter, barely taking the time off from work or school to visit her dad. She owed him the world, the man had raised her on his own, battled through everything to cope with her difficult teenage years and later supported her in whatever she wanted to do when she was off to university. And she could not do much more than stand by when he died.
“Papa...” she started, her lip quivered, “papa is gone.”
She could say it over and over but it did not feel real. It had been so sudden and so painful waking up to his cold hand between hers. All (Name) could think of was that it was a horrible prank, a bad dream.
“Yes.” Joe agreed, trying to show her patience and care, he reached out and put his hand on hers. “But you are still here, how are you?”
Joe’s accent had switched back to American and she examined his hand as she thought of his words.
“I don’t know,” she admitted, “I have lived alone for years, it’s just now...it’s like... there is nobody in the world who I can call.” She explained in a whisper, reasoning out loud. “I think I’m scared.”
Her eyes watered and she hated it, blinking a few times she turned her back on them and brought the cups out, she left them on the counter and wiped her nose with the back of her hand.
“How’s shooting going?”
Gwilym answered and gave her a little explanation as to why Rami and Ben were not there.
“I think you should let more people in.” Gwilym gave her a delicate look, keeping his expression soft and warm as she sat the cup of tea in front of him. “Thanks.”
She sighed and wrapped her arms around her body. She nodded, knowing it to be true. Anyone who had seen her since the passing of her father advised the same thing.
“I know you need time.” Joe did not date even touch the hot cup of tea as he spoke to his fragile friend, “but maybe you could find a distraction.”
Joe pointed behind his back with his thumb, referring to the piano in her fabulous living room.
“I don’t play anymore.” She refused, and shook her head no.
“Well, it’s better than turning the tv on.” Gwilym eyed Joe and the two nodded.
The two actors took sips of their tea, she sat across from them with a blank expression while her tea got cold.
Joe has been able to joke around with (Name) before, she was around the set for the first few days of shooting when Roger and Brian were there; and even when they were not, she got along with Ben right away and laughed at him when he first came out of the makeup trailer in costume. Like himself, (Name) had never met John and only knew little of him from what Roger and Brian had told her. Still, (Name) tried to pay equal attention to Joe as she did to Ben, retelling him stories Roger had told her at some point about Deacon. Much like Roger, the young brunette enjoyed having fun with her job.
He and Gwilym looked up in great surprise when out of the blue she started laughing. The two made an effort to look away and hide their concern but she held on to the edge of the kitchen island as the hysteric fits of laughter washed over her entire body. A memory of her father made her laugh this much.
It had been on her sixteenth birthday that he decided his daughter needed a car! He had money now and he could afford it, the only problem was that when he showed her the beautiful and classic blue Mini Cooper she did not jump in excitement or hugged him. (Name) scratched the back of her head and frowned up at her father.
“I can’t drive.” She reminded him in confusion.
She had, in all honesty, never seen her dad get so flustered and confused at the same time. His expression changed from excitement to concern and to embarrassment. Of course, what was he thinking? But (Name) did not take it personally, she took the keys from his hand and grabbed his arm, pulling him toward the car.
“I guess you’ll have to teach me!”
Her father laughed, oblivious as to how scary teaching his daughter how to drive could be.
(Name)’s eyes watered with tears, she could not tell if they were from the laughter or if they were more grieve induced tears. She did not care, as she found out soon enough with the shakes that crept up her spine, the whimpers and sobs she was too weak to keep inside. Papa is gone, she remembered, and her heart struggled to beat as usual.
Gwilym reacted first, rushing to leave his seat and come to her while she covered her face with her hands. Joe felt almost dizzy and uncomfortable, wondering how anything he said would make her feel better. None of it mattered, (Name) was coming undone and needed to be held together. Gwil wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to his chest, shushing her wish soft whispers and promising it would all be okay.
She leaned into him and cried away, accepting at last that she hated being alone, especially in the big house where her father had raised her.
(Name) asked Gwilym to call Roger once she calmed down enough to wipe her face and look up at him. He and Joe stayed with her while the drummer arrived with his wife and daughters Tigs and Lola. They had to go attend other duties as it was their day off, but Joe and Gwil were certain that their friend would be alright once they saw her running up to Roger, who wrapped her in a tight paternal embrace while Sarina and his daughters rubbed the girls’ back. (Name) was not alone, she still had a family.

Cali Love
This is an Au in which Juice never joined SOA but does come into their lives. I own nothing and this is non-canon. I don't know how far it will go.
Everyone had intruded upon a masturbating Tig. Some could even call it a rite of passage amongst the Sons. They would even send Prospects to see him about any number or things at random times. Chibs did not expect to find him on a Tuesday morning jacking off to a non-pornographic movie. The DVD had been paused on a shot of a man.
While Tig finished while Chibs stared at the screen. He tore his eyes away from the image of the shirtless Latino man to glare at his brother.
“What.” Tig flashed his signature shit eating grin. “He’s hotter than any of the bitches in this movie.” He got up to get ready for his shift in the garage.
Chibs studied the image still on the screen. The actor was early twenties. He had a sculpted body that spoke of good genetics and healthy lifestyle. He had ears that stuck out a bit and a slightly hooked nose, but had really prominent cheekbones. Black hair was shaved close to his skull. After finishing in the bathroom, Tig grabbed the remote to shut off the television. His finger pushed play by accident. A beautiful smile blossomed on the actor’s face.
No one had stirred his passion since Fiona. They had been going towards separation before Jimmy O. In the following years, there had been plenty of women who satisfied the physical needs. There had been plenty of croweaters and sweetbutts who wanted to be his Old Lady, but no one ever made that feeling bloom in his heart…
“That mouth was made for sucking cock.” Tig declared. Way to add to the moment. The scarred Scotsman stormed out of the dorms. Laughter echoed in the stirring clubhouse.
Three hours later, Donna Winston came to collect her copy of Blood Ties. Tig handed over the case while gushing about the movie. In their world, this was one of the more unusual friendships. Some drunk driver ran her off the road six months ago. Tig had been on a midnight ride when he spotted the wreck. She had massive head trauma. Without him, Opie would have buried his wife. In the following months, Tig would help her out with chores and errands. When she recovered, she began cooking for him so he did not have to rely on take out.
While they talked, Gemma sidled up to Chibs. “It is a good movie. And the Latin Adonis is better looking than the women.”
Chibs stared at Gemma with open mouthed shock. He often forgot that Tig and Gemma treated each other like siblings who know too much about one another. “What is it even about?” It was the only thing that could come out of his mouth.
Gemma flicked a blonde strand out of her face. “Blood Ties is supposed to be a modern retelling of King Lear. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it sooner, being Shakespeare and all.”
“I never was a good student.” He grumbled before getting back to work.
Weeks passed. Chibs still thought about the young actor with the enchanting smile. He even scanned some celebrity rag that mentioned the movie on the front page. Turns out the movie was selling copies fast while sweeping through independent film festivals. Many of the actors and actresses were already fielding offers from major studios. He learned that J.C. Ortiz, Queens native who had never traveled beyond New York City, was making a special trip to L.A. to promote the film for the upcoming Oscars. The Scot played with the idea of riding to Hollywood and staking out the venue just to see if he was as angelic in real life. Then, he reminded himself to live in reality as he prepared to take the tow truck to the highway
Someone had called in a seemingly abandoned vehicle on the shoulder. T&M would tow it away, either to their lot or to Unser’s lot. There they would attempt to identify the owner. Chibs parked behind a black Ford Focus with rental tags. He jumped out and walked up to the driver’s side. Someone was slumped over the steering wheel. Chibs tapped on the window to check if the driver was still alive. The driver jerked awake and upright in the seat, his palm hitting the horn in the process.
J.C. Ortiz looked out the window in terrified confusion.
