Every once in a while I think again about the end of Thriller Bark and feel completely insane and ill about Zoro's sacrifice, FOR LUFFY, specifically (you know, the character Kuma's threat was directed at). It wasn't even that long into traveling together, a few months maybe, yet Zoro was ready to give up everything in that moment - in the chapter with Kuma appearing being titled The End of the Dream ! - to protect his crew and Luffy, so he could continue in his journey.
Since Luffy and Zoro met, they always understand how words and promises were imporant to them - with Luffy punching Helmeppo in ch. 3 for lying to Zoro. Zoro learnt how serious Luffy was about his dream, and soon he realized he backed up his words with actions as well - untiying Zoro and giving him his swords back - his biggest treasures. It meant that Zoro could be honest and honor-bound in the same way to Luffy, to gain this mutual respect and trust between them since day 1. To wield his swords to protect both Luffy and later their whole crew, and to step in a way between Luffy and danger.
He was being actually more upset that Sanji got up from the previous Kuma's attack and interrupted their fight - Zoro was trying to keep the whole crew safe by this exchange for Luffy's head - if Sanji was offering his life for Luffy half dead and without much strength left to fight for himself (he started the offering of his own life already believing he woudn't survive, with a "you should find a new cook"), then this very specific sacrifice would be meaningless to the crew (- if this arc was taking place post WCI, then it would turn out very differently, with the strength of Sanji believing in Luffy, but it wasn't his moment during this scene) - it would hurt them more than help them, because as much as Zoro was prepared to die as well, he was prepared to keep fighting until the last breath.
Zoro was thinking he might die - Kuma's words were pretty certain he WOULD die - but he still had the willingness and strength to take on the deal for Luffy, for his captain and his crew. ("if i die here, it just means I wasn't worth much to begin with" this line he says times and times again during the overall story, like in Rogue Town throwing Kitetsu and waiting if it would cut off his arm, up until standing against King in Wano "it's my power that was lacking", and all the other times he was questioning his worth - it's something he tempts the fates he doesn't believe in, to actually harm him, to take his strength away if he doesn't deserve to survive. and it's him saying he knows and accepts his own weaknesses - of not being strong enough (in comparison to Sanji in this example), and always fights through them.)
He threw away his swords, including Wado Ichimonji - literally throwing aside his and Kuina's dream, to compell Kuma into a duel (with the anime playing 'The Very Very Very Strongest' when Zoro bowed down and pleaded Kuma, offering him his head instead of Luffy's) so Kuma wouldn't go after the crew and specifically Luffy later - no matter the outcome if Zoro would surive or not.
And then, he was actually strong enough to survive taking his captain's fatigue, agony and pain! Possibly being the only one who could survive taking Luffy's pain.
Zoro could have back out when Kuma offered him the 'taste' of the pain, with the realization of the scale of the hurt with the very possibility of dying from it. But that wouldn't be Zoro now, would it? He accepted and took all of Luffy's pain so his captain wouldn't have to suffer or die, and when they found him afterwards, he still kept standing, tense with the fatigue but alive! (again, with anime adding the music of 'Luffy's Fierce Attack' to underline the importance between these two).
He was training for this since the beginning - to become stronger to shoulder the pain of his crew if necessary. (And not only that - he was preparing for that so another Kuina incident didn't have to happen). He was the first one to fight one of the Warlords before anything really began: his fight with Mihawk at Baratie really set the tone and his own goals to overcome - a glimpse to see on how much different levels the Warlords actually were in comparison to Zoro, Luffy and the others, and if they were supposed to beat them so Luffy could become the Pirate King, that always meant to be ready and to get even stronger than them.
(small spoiler for egghead, ch. 1102: seeing Kuma (a Warlord at that time) remembering this Thriller Bark event later, during Egghead arc, and thinking that even he might have passed out from the pain, makes it all the more meaningful that it was Zoro who took the pain and withstood it - establishing how high was the strength of his willpower, already before timeskip.)
There could be so many other nuances and details from these last few chapters of this arc, and even what this deal meant for the following arcs! Zoro was still in pain on Sabaody, and because of that the crew wasn't as strong as it could have been (not to say they would have a chance anyway, knowing what all was in the motion).
The next is the tragedy and beauty of LUFFY never finding out about this. Half of the crew knew: Sanji, Brook and Robin knew the details, but would never tell Luffy - and that shows their loyalty to both Luffy and Zoro (and Zoro's decision). Luffy woke up and first thing he did was to jump up and down, excited not to be weighted down by his injuries, and only seeing his swordsman being down with injuries so severe he was out more days afterwards, knowing that something else attacked them (him = Zoro), after he was passed out from the fight against Moria, brought down his mood (even if it's not much noticable, but the change into subtle worry is there in the few next chapters).
"I can't explain it either!" - meaning he was thinking about it too, possibly how weird it was for him to move normally after such long fight. We don't really ever hear/see Luffy thinking about something, except when it's mentioned how he came up with a solution or idea, telling us there's more to Luffy than just being straightforward in his goals and speech. With Luffy being sometimes very emotionally intelligent when he wants to be, he could have figured it out from all these other people in the room asking similar questions and deducing. Even Usopp was putting two and two togehter. We might never find out if Luffy actuallly knows or not. Luffy probably wouldn't ask Zoro directly, especially if Zoro wouldn't tell first and didn't want to talk about it
- because for Zoro, nothing happened! Nothing, that would compromise his and Luffy's first promise. For Zoro to become the Strongest he couldn't back down from the duel with Kuma (just like before with his duel with Mihawk at Baratie. When he's faced with something he swore to overcome, he can't back down or evade. Even back then Luffy understood that as he held back Johnny and Yosaku, but Sanji was perplexed how far Zoro (and Luffy) would go to reach their dreams). When Sanji was asking him in front of Kuma "What about your dream?" Zoro was still thinking about his dream- it was just that the context has changed, it changed into a journey. His dream is the most important thing, but it wouldn't mean much, if, when on his way to accomplish that, he would betray his other words and promises.

Thinking about the way kuma said that zoro could've frickin died at that time (in thriller bark) from receiving luffy's pain, kuma literally said "you will die", but he didn't. Which is actually kind of like a miracle itself.
Like, zoro should be grateful that he is even still alive?? i think that alone is already an incredible achievement???, but then, later (several days?) after he woke up, he said "we've grown a lot since that time", with a smile. In front of his crew.
BUT not long after that, when he was all alone, as zoro continued with his training, he said "i must become stronger!! im still too weak...!!!"
You were strong enough to endure your captain's pain and live zoro... like what makes you think that you are still far too weak?? Earlier you even said something along the lines 'we have grown a lot' no??
When he said "im still too weak" I think what he actually meant was that he still feels too weak. Too weak to keep his captain for getting hurt. Not strong enough to keep luffy from experiencing incredible pain. Like we all know something was different (changing) about zoro after experiencing luffy's pain.
His first expression towards luffy after waking up post thriller bark was actually this one: a smile, a soft one. (Idk, but i just think it's kinda sweet, especially after what he did in thriller bark for luffy's sake)
Also i think it's safe to say that his protective side towards luffy kinda increased (sightly?) after thriller bark incident. Exhibit A:
Emphasizing again but, i just think that after thriller bark.. there was a very subtle change within zoro, right after the incident, that i can't put into words.
And after the whole marineford accident, in Kuraigana Island we get the definitive proof of how getting stronger for luffy is very important for zoro, even more than his own pride...
In post-TS you can even see more of zoro's protective side for luffy (im talking about punk hazard or wano)
All im saying is that post-TS zoro is the accumulation of what happened to him in thriller bark + what happened to luffy in marineford + the 2 years of training under mihawk.
I just think that he cares so soo much about his captain...
And God can't stop thinking about these panels
Oda will you let luffy know about zoro's sacrifice someday??
#zolu#luzo#monkey d. luffy#roronoa zoro#one piece#rambling about zolu again#zoro again smth smth thriller bark smth smth marineford arghh#him taking luffy's pain#him beating himself up cuz of his inability to protect his captain#im like graghhh ill

AGHHHH!!!
Zolu shippers, Luzo shippers, anyone! I need some help.
So, I am trying to look for a certain fanfic, and it’s been a while. I’m not asking anyone to spend their time looking for it, but if it rings a bell and you could tell me the name then that would be awesome.
I’ll just go on about what I remember. (Spoilers for both the anime and fanfic I guess.)
Update: Someone just told me the name, it’s, Observe When I Am Dead by Augment.
Do not read my crappy memory of a summary first, and instead read the fanfic. (I think it’s registered users only.)
I’ll keep this up because I like studying my own memory about stories I’ve read years ago.
It starts off at Thriller Bark, and it’s the regular deal with Kuma, except it wasn’t so regular. After Zoro wakes up from his encounter with the warlord, he discovers by touching Luffy, he takes his pain. He thinks about how useful this could be, until he notices that Luffy is still in pain despite healing. He touches him again, and Luffy is better like he should be. Zoro connects the dots, that Luffy Can heal and still feel the pain of his past injuries, and will continue to feel them until Zoro touches him and takes the pain for himself. He realizes what kind of deal he just got himself into, remembering the words of Kuma (which I don’t remember myself but it’s something along the lines of taking pain for Luffy.)
The crew makes their way to Sabaody, where the events of the anime/manga happens. It’s a losing battle, but (I think) before engaging in the battle, Zoro takes Luffy’s pain once again so Luffy will be at tip top shape, making it worse for himself because of all his previous injuries.
The two year time skip happens, Zoro is back with Luffy, and Luffy is feeling the pain of what had happened at Marineford. It hurts, and Zoro can see that. He spends the day with him, already knowing what he has to do. He waits until night when everyone is asleep, and then he uses a cloth or blanket, something to hold Luffy without touching him, and brings him further away from the rest of the crew as to not disturb them. He sets Luffy down, admiring him for as long as he could, before finally reaching out. Zoro takes his pain, then that is the last of what I remember. I think it was left as a cliff hanger.
I don’t think this fanfic will be anything recent, and I hope it hasn’t been deleted, but if you find it then that will be great!

BONUS AIRHEADED S/O HEADCANNONS: Zoro (One Piece)
An: I wanna face plant in his tits. 👉👈
---------
Zoro knows you're stupid
He knows
But he'll still take your advice like you actually know what you're talking about
Resulting in it back firing at him 90% of the time
"Hey! Which snakes are poisonous again?" He asked after getting bit by one.
"Red and yellow will kill a fellow. Red and black are friends of Jack." You recite proudly, remembering what Robin thought you.
"Okay, so what does this count as."
He holds up a bright yellow snake.
"Um.... Probably not venomous."
It was indeed venomous and poor Chopper had a heart attack trying to come up with an antidote.
Especially after Zoro kept insisting 'he was fine' and 'he'd tough it out.'
Honesty, he doesn't care if you're stupid most of the time.
Luffy's just as dumb and look at him.
Well, maybe don't. But it doesn't change the fact that he's already following one idiot around.
What's one more?
You leave out food? For the ants??? So they don't get hungry?????
"You're gonna cause an infestation in the kitchen...Wait, never mind. You're doing a good job."
He'll help you put the blame on Ussop just so Sanji can continue to suffer.
"What do you mean you broke the fish tank!?!? Franky's gonna be pissed!"
"That stingray was looking at me funny."
You gesture towards a fish that was not a stingray.
Honestly you give him a headache most days.
But he's too lazy to worry about what you do
As long as you don't rope him in.
He also won't baby you.
Rather, he helps cover up whatever trouble you caused or just laughs off your antics.
Partner in crime, at least until Nami finds out
Then you're officially on your own.
He still loves you tho
Just from a distance 👉👈
You probably came along a little after Thriller Bark.
Joining from the island they were currently resting at because according to Luffy, 'They're really cool.'
Which is never enough reason to join the crew.
But it's not hard to see what he meant when he asked you to 'do the thing' and you tore a tree up from its roots.
Yeah, you can stay
Just don't cause trouble.
He warms up to you after a while.
Namely seeing you interacting with Nami and her actually smiling.
If Nami likes you, then either she was gonna hurt you or you must've been genuinely a good person.
(It's because she'll tell you to do something and unlike their captain, you don't complain.)
You also get on Sanji's nerves, which immediately puts you in his good graces.
There isn't an isolated moment or anything leading up to him falling for you.
He was just watching you mess around with Luffy and Chopper when he realized he liked your laugh.
Then your smile
And when you caught him starting, you waved with an overly excited expression.
Like a puppy
And it makes heat flood to his cheeks, forcing him to turn away.
Zoro is about as romantic as a rock.
There's no way he's going to court you
If you're expecting a date, then I've got some bad news.
However ☝️
Zoro's way of flirting is inviting you to train with him
You're the only one allowed in the Crow's Nest when he's in there.
He's a man who admires strength, what can I say.
Toss him over your shoulder, punch him, hell lift some weights and he's 💗💗💗
It's also a way for him to show off
Slightly flexing to see your reaction. But of course, you're stupid so you don't really notice when he does it.
Tell him he's strong and he'll carry that with him the rest of the day.
If your weapon of choice is also a sword, he's smitten
In the stupid way tho. Like trying to teach you his techniques or critiquing yours.
"You're not doing it right." Is an excuse to correct your form and touch you
If he really loves you, he'll invite you to nap with him.
Sit on his lap or he'll sit on yours. He doesn't give two shits.
Either way, he's tired and wants to cuddle.
Let's you smoosh your face between his boobs if you ask nicely.
Only you 🫵
He'll glare if someone's watching and laughing.
"Yeah? Jealous it's not you?"
Zoro loves fighting with you
He won't hold you back if you want to fight
Not only can you keep up, but you move a little faster than him.
Seeing you sink marines gives him a feeling of pride.
Like, look at you!
That's his S/O!
He'll be excited to see your bounty go up along with his.
NEVER go exploring on an island alone
You two will not be found for days
Somebody who isn't an idiot and has a good sense of direction has to go with you.
It's probably Sanji tbh
Does Zoro get jealous?
He doesn't have the attention span to get jealous
Someone's flirting with you?
Eh, you don't notice it anyway. That person can try but they'll never get anywhere.
You haven't been spending a lot of time with him?
He'll just sleep with the full confidence you'll be back when he wakes up.
He just isn't worried about you losing interest
BUT he'll be damned if that cook comes anywhere near you.
Again, about as romantic as a rock.
He's not gonna be calling you lovey dovey names.
He also finds it embarrassing.
You won't catch him pulling that 'Nami-Swan!' crap.
He'd rather die
But on a very rare occasion where it's just the two of you, he'll call you baby or babe.
Nothing other than that
And he'll deny he ever said it
No confession to be found
He likes you and you seem to like him, so you're his.
Unless you say otherwise, you're dating.

one piece headcanon:
Luffy’s ability has always affected the people around him subconsciously
(or: a way to retroactively justify how resilient one piece characters are)
it starts with Shanks not bleeding out, despite being there, openly bleeding and one arm short in the water…
it continues with Ace and Sabo, ridiculously strong and ridiculously hungry, despite other characters (even other Ds) not showing those traits a children…
then later, when luffy gathers his first crew mates, Zoro notices that, while he has always been at the top of the curve as far as what his body could take goes, he is shanking off broken bones and blood loss that should have left even him bedridden for days… Nami’s punches start hurting people who by all rights should be unaffected and she develops a kind of sixth sense for sudden weather changes even when there are no logical clues… Usopp was always a good shot, but his eyesight seems to improve somehow…
Sanji survives Enel’s lightning…
The Merry lasting as long as she does and their miraculous escape…
later, at thriller bark, Zoro surviving what should have been impossible
at marineford, the polar tank managing to evade Kizaru and Aokiji’s attacks
(Ace’s death as a result of Luffy’s fear, his distraction at seeing his vivre card burn as well as Ace’s self sacrificial tendencies)
post timeskip,
Law surviving ridiculous levels of abuse at Doflamingo’s hands
Sanji’s mutations only starting to manifest after he himself learns of their effects
Hyogoro reverting to his younger self for a last hurrah when infected with the ice oni virus
Kinemon’s survival (the only case of Law’s powers working that way that we have seen)
Momonuske’s powers (or more precisely his ability to control them as quickly as he does)
the resilience of everyone on their side really, like everyone who comes into contact with Luffy and has faith in him gains just a spark of his power, forming themselves into what they need to be… and maybe that’s what Luffy’s true miracle is
edit: OH ALSO, i meant to add Coby’s growth spurt but i forgot
#one piece#one piece headcanons#one piece meta#monkey d luffy#straw hat pirates#trafalgar law#one piece spoilers#not that it really needs justification past shonen doing shonen things but it’s an option

I love your wado ichimoji pov posts! Your only in whisky peak and show devotion well in an inanimate object well "my dumass son" (affectionately) *less than 2 weeks after starting to travel with others, the captain still believes after them losing badly*: I have 2 to protect now my son and a little king. What I'm really looking forward to 1. resignation at some point is that Sandai Kitetsu is going to continue to be here 2. the treasure trove of Timeskip on Mihawk's creepy would produce 3. sibling time with enma (Christ they have been made by the same person but wados going to be the only voice of reason between the 3).
Thank you so much!!! Sorry this took me a hot minute to respond to.
I really love that au and I want to work on it more.
As I am only in Thriller Bark I can’t speak in earnest about all of your ideas (yet) but I can hit one.
1. Wado excepting that Sandai Kitsune is here to stay.
They come to a begrudging understanding at the end of Whiskey Peak. Wado still doesn’t like Sandai and hopes Zoro gets ride of it, but at least Sandai has respect for the captain now.
It’s Alabaster where Zoro learns to cut steal when the two finally start to have a smidgen of respect for each other. After all Zoro uses all three blades to cut steal, if Sandai was truly a weak blade she would have broken by now.
Through Jaya and Skypia all three blades are focused on protecting Captain and crew. Gaining respect for some of the other crewmates (namely Robin) though throughout it all Wado is still waiting for Zoro to find a better sword.
It isn’t until Water 7 and Enies Lobby. When all three blades are in unity fighting to save one of their own. Because their King and Master wants the Archaeologist back. Because the King has lead them to an incredible fight, a test of their Skills. Because their King keeps asking them to do the impossible with total confidence that they can, they won’t let him down. (The sea train is going to be fun)
It isn’t until Yabashiri is destroyed that Wado realizes she wasn’t ready to lose either companion.
It’s been so long since she had traveled with companions who had voices. These were the first blades Zoro had, besides her, that had distinguishable voices. To hear one of those go out rattles both Wado and Sandai.
The rust man could have grabbed any of them but he grabbed Yabashiri. Her voice was gone. It takes sometime for both Wado and Sandai to come to terms with that.
While Wado is still annoyed with Sandai and her violent tendencies, she’s mellowed under Zoro’s care. Her bloodthirsty now matches his own. And while she does occasionally cry out for blood, it’s normally because of a threat to King or crew. She no longer calls for the blood of just anyone, only outside threats. Problem is those threats haven’t always attacked them yet. (Sandai’s more of a if we kill it before it can attack it can’t hurt them, sort of protector)
Wado and her still butt heads, but Sandai made it this far as a Grade blade, she’s not going anywhere soon.
Once in Thriller Bark, once they gain Shushi, another one of the 21 Great grade blades, a fully realized black blade, and Wado’s sibling to boot. Things get shaken up again.
Where Wado is motherly and protective of her dumb son’s dreams and loved ones. Aligned with Zoro in dream and crew, knowing him the longest and living up his values.
And Kitsune is Zoro’s bloodthirstiness. His violence but also protective fury. Zoro changed her from pure bloodshed to reflect his own violence. She reflects his more aggressive side.
Yabashiri was quite. One to follow Wado’s lead but still had its own personality. In that offered caution. She reflects Zoro’s observation. The ability to tell what is and isn’t a threat and when to act.
Shushi is different. Shushi already had a master take it to the full extent of its power. He is stronger and more durable. Increasing Zoro’s strength and forcing the others to rise to his level. Zoro cannot take this blade farther, rather he must rise to meet its strength and durability. Harding himself and his other blades to become the strong unbreakable protector of the crew.
Wado and Sandai are not (yet) black blades they can still grow and rise with Zoro’s power. Shushi is both a greatly needed boost and a challenge to rise to. He often thinks back on his prior master and compares Zoro to him. (He is quite pleased to be wielded by a descendent of his beloved Shimotsuki Ryuma)
Once I get to Zoro training with Mihawk I’ll talk more about them. But it’s going to be really fun to write all three swords interacting with Yoru. But it’s also going to be hard on Wado. Up until then Zoro favored her as his one sword style blade. But after his time with Mihawk it switches to Shushi. A stronger more durable blade. While the switch makes sense, I’m sure it was a hard transition for both Wado and Zoro. And I’m excited to write on it.
I am so excited to get to Wado and get Enma. It’s a needed change for Zoro to push forward. While Enma has great power on its own, it’s not yet a permanent black blade. There is still room to grow and strengthen along side Zoro. Shushi couldn’t grown anymore. Zoro had mastered it, he rose to the challenge and surpassed it. Now he needs to bring his own blades to the top.
(I really hope one of his blades becomes permanently black by the end of the show. I want it to be Wado)
Right now I’m in Thriller Bark, but the platform im watching on only has the show up to Marineford/ASL adventures so once I get through all of that, I will either rewatch all pre-time skip and start writing my Wado Ichimoji POV au and Reverse Strawhats while I wait for the platform to put up more episodes or I’ll crack and get a new subscription to watch post time skip. Only time will tell.

The Prince's Blazing Fury
Fandom: One Piece Character: Sanji Words: 2,755 Link to Ao3 Note: I wanted to write something and I thought of the scene with Sanji and Absalom's fight in the Thriller Bark Arc. I didn't like what it did to Sanji's character to be so similar and compared to the creep Absalom. So here is my slightly (hopefully) improved fight between them.
“Nami-san, I’ve come for you!” Sanji shouted with tears in his eyes. “There she is!”
Relief flooded through him as he saw her, she looked uninjured he decided with a glance over her. He swirled around in a storm into the chapel, his heart brimming with happiness. He was just in time to save her! He would be her saviour; he could already imagine her gratitude…
“Skip, skip, skip”, Sanji murmured joyfully to himself as he tapped further into the chapel. “Nami-san~!”
Well, after he saved her, that is.
“Get your grubby hands off her!” Sanji shouted, delivering a swift kick to the zombie holding her unconscious body, sending it crashing into the wall behind.
With outmost care, he caught Nami in his arms – “Sorry to have kept you waiting, Nami-san. Your prince is here.”
He turned to the other two zombies in the doorway and the one he suspected was Absalom, making sure they weren’t close enough to disturb them. Then, he looked down to Nami to ensure that she wasn’t hurt.
“Nami-san, you’re in safe hands”, he started, but then stuttered as he saw her appearance in that white wedding dress. She was always beautiful, of course, but this…
“Is she a goddess?” he whispered to himself, then shook his head. “Uh, no. It’s Nami-san. Focus!”
The beast Absalom approached, and Sanji immediately shifted his gaze to keep an eye on him.
“What are you going on about? As I recall, you’re part of the crew that was on that pirate ship”, Absalom said, but when he looked at Nami, he gasped. “A-an angel? N-No, she’s human. I’m sure of it. Ah, she had me scared there!”
Sanji’s eyes narrowed, but he decided play along with a relaxed grin – “I don’t blame you! Nami-san and rice are about the only things that look this good in white!”
“Yeah, seriously!” Absalom immediately agreed.
“I know, right?” Sanji continued grinning, though his legs tensed in preparation. “You get it, right?”
“Why must she look so stinking good in white?!” Absalom answered, and Sanji’s grin disappeared.
“What are they going on about?” One of the two zombies asked.
“Lowly pirate!” Absalom gasped and raised his palms toward them. “I don’t need to be chums with you!”
He fired at them, and Sanji leaped away just in time, already prepared for the attack. The shots left only marks in the stone wall, leaving dust in their wake.
“Hey!” Sanji shouted angrily. “You nearly hit Nami-san! When a lady is in the vicinity, you should avoid attacks that could hit her!”
“I’m impressed you dodged that, bastard! I see you’ve already lost your shadow”, Absalom remarked, eyeing the floor beneath Sanji’s feet. “Come to think of it, one of our new zombies was oddly obsessed with that woman. He retained some will of his own, so he wasn’t fully subservient. I suspect that was your zombie. Considering that your shadow wasn’t put into a general zombie, your fighting ability can’t be all that impressive.”
Sanji carried Nami to a bench while the beast was talking and carefully placed Nami there to keep her safe. He had a feeling he wouldn’t be leaving as quickly as he’d hoped to protect her.
“In fact, that penguin talked big, but was terribly weak!” Absalom continued, still behind him. “I’m known as one of the phantoms and lead the General Zombies. It was impudent of that small fry to defy me!”
“I will be right back, Nami-san”, Sanji assured her with a smile and a soothing tone, wanting to make sure she felt safe, even if she couldn’t hear him.
“Listen to me, punk!” Absalom shouted angrily, stomping on the floor.
“I’m so glad that I managed to get here before anything happened”, Sanji sighed in relief. “Everything will be fine now.”
“Don’t heave a sigh of relief! You know, it doesn’t matter how obsessed you are with that woman! I’m going to marry her!” Absalom declared, and Sanji’s smile immediately disappeared. “Now take a word of advice and leave that woman with me while you spend the rest of your life hiding in the shadows!”
Sanji straightened up and lit a cigarette.
“I’m rather busy at the moment!” Absalom continued. Sheesh, he was certainly chatty, Sanji thought. “Your captain’s zombie may have crushed some of my most powerful subordinates. Before I deal with that, I need to kiss my bride!”
Sanji clenched his teeth furiously.
“I’m in a foul mood right now”, Absalom growled. “I don’t have time to deal with weaklings like—”
He didn’t get to finish his sentence before Sanji kicked him square in the face, sending him hurtling through the air.
“Shut up, fur face!” Sanji shouted angrily at him.
“Absalom-sama!” The zombie priest exclaimed in shock.
“No way!” The other zombie shouted. “He weighs 300 kg! How did that man send him flying?!”
“You are the invisible man Usopp mentioned, aren’t you?” Sanji asked as he walked up to Absalom, who groaned amidst the wreckage of the bench he had collided with.
“Hands of the Dead!” Absalom shouted, raising his palms at Sanji. However, Sanji leaped up and stood on his arms, redirecting the shots away from him and causing them to strike the ceiling instead. Absalom gaped in surprise.
“Basses Côte!” Sanji shouted as he delivered a powerful kick to Absalom’s jaw. “Longe! You’re the beast that showed up on Sunny and licked Robin-chan, aren’t you?!”
Fire ignited in Sanji’s eyes.
“And you ogled at Nami-san in the bath, didn’t you?!” Sanji shouted furiously, landing several more kicks on the beast. “Tendron! Flanchet! Quasi!”
Fury coursed through his veins like wildfire.
“Queue! Cuisseau! Jarret!” Sanji continued to unleash a flurry of attacks with fire blazing in his eyes. “Why is she unconscious?! You didn’t touch her, did you?! ‘Marriage’, my ass! Take a good look at my eyes, I’ll crush you under my feet and turn you into a croquette!”
“Damn it!” Absalom gasped. “I’ll have to retreat for now. Skating!”
Absalom turned invisible. Sanji looked around, but he had already planned ahead, his hand finding its way into a pocket.
“I’ve got Usopp’s salt balls”, he muttered to himself, throwing small salt balls in different directions until one hit something invisible in the air. “Over there!”
“What is that?” Absalom’s voice sounded from the spot Sanji had struck. “It’s salty!”
“Veau Shot!” Sanji shouted, launching a barrage of kicks that sent Absalom flying through rows of benches, reducing them to splinters until he crashed into the wall.
It seemed like Absalom lost focus as he turned visible again, all the easier for Sanji to keep going.
“You said that you were in a foul mood?” Sanji told him furiously. “That doesn’t begin to describe mine. I’m so mad I feel like my body could explode!”
Sanji didn’t even feel it when his body exploded into fire.
“It did!” The zombies shouted in the background.
“And unfortunately for you, there is bad blood between us over one more thing!” Sanji glared angrily at Absalom, who lay bloodied amidst pieces of ruined wall.
“A-Absalom-sama…” One of the zombies murmured, both of them gaping in shock.
“You… and I… have bad blood?” Absalom winced as he looked up at Sanji.
Sanji hadn’t intended to reveal it, but the anger over what Absalom had done to Nami loosened his tongue. Ah well, it didn’t matter, they wouldn’t meet again.
“That’s right”, Sanji replied coldly as the fire dissipated.
“Doesn’t ring any bells”, Absalom hissed as he sat up amongst the rubble. “There must be some sort of misunderstanding. You and I … met for the first time today! I’m going to send you flying! … with my Hands of the Dead!”
Sanji turned around and blew smoke out – “Take them off.”
“Huh?”
“I said drop the bazookas attached to your arms”, Sanji spoke calmly.
“Wha--?!”
“Do I need to spell it out?” Sanji asked furiously, glaring at Absalom. “If Nami-san gets hurt because you went overboard, no one will be able to tell you were ever alive by the time I’m through with you!”
But Absalom fired anyway, the shot hitting the wall as Sanji jumped aside.
“I said to lose the bazookas!” Sanji shouted as he kicked one of Absalom’s arms, causing the bazooka to fell off. Quickly, he turned to deflect a rock debris from hitting Nami.
“Wow! A bazooka magically materialized!” The zombies gaped in bewilderment. The morons.
Absalom growled as he glared at Sanji.
“Yeah, that’s about what I thought”, Sanji remarked. “It seemed like the type of attack you would come up with. You can make yourself invisible. While in that state, you can make anything you touch go invisible as well. That is your current ability. Invisible man born of the Clear-Clear Fruit. I know every possible move you could make!”
“Who the hell are you..?!” Absalom growled.
“Has that man met Absalom-sama somewhere before?” One of the zombies wondered. “Why does he know his powers inside and out?”
“What could this bad blood possibly be?” The zombie priest asked.
“Back when I was a kid”, Sanji said, clenching a fist that steamed of heat. “I read an encyclopedia on the Devil Fruits. I had no interest in a shady object that would make the ocean grow to hate you. But there was one and one alone that caught my interest. I decided that in the unlikely event I came across that Fruit, I would eat it, even if it meant losing the ability to swim! But there aren’t two identical devil fruits at the same time! If I ran into someone with that ability, my dream would go up in smoke! Now do you get it? I wanted to become an invisible man!”
“Is he venting?” One of the zombies wondered from behind them.
“I put a lot of thought into it! If I ate the fruit, I would be able to turn invisible at will. No one would be able to find me! Just think of all the things I could use it for! At first, I just wanted to avoid my brothers, but then I imagined how I could help others!”
“His brothers?” One of the zombies asked in surprise.
“Shut up!” Sanji snapped annoyed at them. “That’s not the point! After long years of imagining what I’d do, I’m fully aware of what I could do with that ability!”
The fire in his veins reignited, and his body burst into flames once again.
“Between this and endangering Nami-san, you have compounded transgression upon transgression making it impossible to forgive you!” Sanji shouted at Absalom. “Prepare to wave goodbye to your life!”
“I was wondering what your problem was!” Absalom retorted as he stood up from the pile of broken wood from the benches. “You’re picking a fight over the stupidest thing! It’s absurd!”
Absalom grabbed his coat and ripped it off, exposing his muscular torso covered in scars from surgeries and various colors from transplantations.
“Have it your way! I will throw your sudden claim of bad blood and rage right back at you!” Absalom growled. “The lion muzzle wasn’t my only transplant! Elephant skin! 300 kg of compact bear and gorilla muscle! Dr. Hogback had conducted one transplant after the next on this body, allowing me to become the ultimate beastly masterpiece! The Clear-Clear Fruit’s ability is a mere bonus. Next to my strength, it’s nothing more than an accessory. Get it?”
Absalom grinned at him. Sanji was boiling of fury, but the issue that bothered him more than the fruit was …
“You peeped at Nami!” Sanji shouted furiously. It was unforgiveable! He kicked Absalom’s face down onto the floor, cracking the stone.
“He’s right!” One of the zombies admitted.
Absalom slowly got up from the floor, shaking with blood pouring from his head wound. He seemed shaken from Sanji’s kicks, but he glared at him.
“Regardless, I will be the last one laughing!” He said, grinning as he turned invisible. Sanji gritted his teeth as he took a few steps back, scanning the surroundings. “I have claimed the power you wanted! And the woman you longed to protect is about to become my wife! I could not imagine a more bitter defeat!”
Sanji gritted his teeth, but then he remembered what Usopp had said about Nami vanishing with Absalom when he abducted her. They had lost the trail after that. Sanji’s eyes widened as he realized what was going on.
“You want to make Nami-san go invisible!” Sanji said and quickly turned back to her, taking her in his arms again. “But you can’t have her!”
With her in his arms, he looked around anxiously, trying to listen to where Absalom could be coming from. Now, it was more important than ever to see where he was coming from, to not let him hurt her.
“Where do you think you’re looking?” Absalom’s voice said. “You’re wasting your energy! It’s time I showed you… the power of a Phantom!”
A burst of pain exploded in Sanji’s jaw, but he kept himself standing, shaking, and lifted Nami above his head. He could not let her get hurt. This was nothing, he thought, with the fresh reminder of his brothers. He had survived worse.
“What’s this? You’re going to sacrifice yourself for that woman?” Absalom’s voice laughed. “Protect her! Assuming you’ve got what it takes! Phantom Hand!”
Pain hit Sanji in the back.
“Phantom Leg!”
Pain hit Sanji in the leg. Then back. Chest. Back again. Sanji lost count of how many hits he took. Blood spurted from wounds opening up from the hits, but he kept Nami above his head. Sanji was panting when a break in the hits came.
“I wouldn’t drop that woman if I were you!” Absalom laughed.
She’s not just a woman, Sanji thought, irritated by his laughter but didn’t have time to say it before he groaned loudly as a worse pain hit him in the back. He could feel it, a large knife, the harsh steel stabbing through his muscles, and pain, pain. In the corner of his eye, Sanji saw Nami’s pure white dress swaying in the wind. He shook and gritted his teeth.
“Damn beast!” He gasped for air and fell to his knees. In the last second, he threw Nami in front of him to safety so that he wouldn’t fall on her. “Sorry, Nami-san…”
“You dropped her!” Absalom laughed. “I guess you didn’t value her as much as your own life.”
Sanji fell on all fours and coughed. Blood splattered on the floor.
“I’m sorry Nami-san… I can’t soil you with my blood…”, he panted through gritted teeth. “Damn invisible man, sneaking around! I’m over my childhood dream now! I don’t need to be able to turn invisible anymore, I’m strong enough to face them! I don’t care if they can see me!”
“… Is he talking about his brothers again?” One of the zombies wondered aloud.
Sanji ignored them as he heard Absalom’s steps come closer and closer. Until he saw an invisible step in his blood, he was by his side. Sanji grabbed his leg.
“Let go, bastard!” Absalom’s voice shouted at him as he could feel his leg trying to pull away. “Unhand me!”
“I’m not about to let go, you sick beast!” Sanji looked up with a grin. “If you’re a mix of a bunch of animals, I bet you’ll make lovely mincemeat!”
He could hear Absalom gasp and then he hit Sanji in several places – “Shut up, jerk! Let go of me!”
Sanji reached behind his back, grabbed the handle of the knife lodged in his back, and pulled it out in a spurt of blood. There, no more metal hindering him in his moves. Immediately, Sanji moved and started kicking Absalom. He didn’t stop. He couldn’t stop, he’d fall if he does.
“Extra Haché!”
“Absalom-sama!” the zombies shouted.
Absalom’s invisibility wavered, and Sanji could see him enough to kick him into the rows of benches, blasting off so hard and far that he crashed into the wall next to the door, leaving a crack from his invisible body. Sanji panted. Absalom spat out blood.
“A beast should be satisfied with a beastly bride”, Sanji murmured as he lit a cigarette.
It seemed like the Clear-Clear Fruit was only as good as its user. Sanji concluded that it wasn’t worth the trouble anymore. It felt like a weight had been lifted from his chest; he was stronger now, and he would make sure to be strong enough.
End notes: At first Sanji didn't mention his brothers explicitly. He just mentioned a "them" and the zombies wondered who he meant. I think that would've worked just fine in the manga/anime, like a tease about things in Sanji's past.
But since most people now know about his past I decided to let him mention them here in this fanfic. I hope that it gave a bit more of weight to his statements.
I also first wrote something about that he knew he had another family now. But I decided to delete it, in fact Sanji hadn't really learned the lesson by this time. He was still prepared to sacrifice himself for the others, ignoring of his own self value completely. It wasn't until the Whole Cake Island Arc that Sanji really understood that his crew was his new family through thick and thin.

Omg okay hi! I see you’re a Sanji lover so I would loooove your opinion on this topic bc I’ve been thinking about it a lot and I can’t seem to come to definitive answer; Would Sanji be a loyal boyfriend to his future girlfriend? Will he continue to go heart eyes for other girls whenever they’re around? Could he control his love for women if he settled down? Thoughts?
I think he definitely would stop acting that way around women if he got a girlfriend. Ik a bunch of people say it's weird how he acts around women and how it's gross. Which at times it is. But I honestly think he's just appreciating the beauty of women. (Even though it's perverted at times) And if he found someone for him he would stop. If it's a person that he really loves and is everything he's ever wanted you know then I think he would still be nice and respectful to women and not fight them. But he would stop flirting with them.
But that does make it hard to write for him sometimes. So I usually try to add something like a immediate connection. Or since I write for plus size readers. Use that as something. Since their isn't good plus size representation in one piece. Make it to where y/n is plus size and also beautiful. I hope this Makes sense.
Also! Everytime he does flirt with someone like that they always turn him down or something along those lines. It never goes somewhere. So he just hasn't found the right lady or something (I just finished thriller Bark. Ik he almost marries someone but im not there yet) and he is going off first glance. Off looks. So he never gets the chance to get to know those ladies and all that. So I think once he gets to know someone and see if he really likes them then he will stay loyal. He's throwing himself at these ladies and no one is matching his energy back. Or showing feelings back so yeah! I hope that makes sense lol!
To sum it all up. Yes, I think sanji would definitely stop his flirtatious ways if he found the right woman for him. And I think he would be VERY loyal!
Another thing. I'm pan romantic. So that means I find everyone attractive. Gender not really mattering. And me personally when i see a pretty lady I'm gonna compliment them! Not always in a flirtatious way. Just a "omg you're hair is so pretty!!" cause it makes them happy and it makes me happy. So I don't think compliments automatically mean flirting.
And I feel like if I was dating someone like sanji or anyone matter of fact. I personally wouldn't mind them complimenting a woman or man. Cause I also do that a lot. And I don't see it ass a big deal as long as they aren't really flirting or getting touchy. One little comment never hurt anybody. And ik the way sanji acts isn't just a small compliment but you get the idea.
I hope this helps!! ♥︎♥︎♥︎🫶🫶🫶

one piece characters that i desperately need more of
buckle up. this is a long post because i’m gonna pick one from almost every arc i’ve seen so far. i’m an absolute fiend for characters with little to no screen time, so this is my way of showing love to some of the minor characters from one piece !!
koby
i know he shows up from time to time, but i would really like more of him. he’s so sweet and cute and i’m a kobylu truther and i need him to give up being a tool of the state so he can sail the seas with his boyfriend and his boyfriend and his boyfriend and-
vivi
i know she eventually shows up again, but i so badly wish she joined the straw hats. this list is kinda becoming “characters i wish were straw hats/that i ship with straw hats,” but i promise a lot of the characters are here for other reasons besides those two !! but yes, namivivi is so real it hurts. i remember virtually mourning the loss of vivi when she didn’t join the strawhats, even though i knew it was coming. i will rep namivivi til the day i die.
wyper
wyper is the reason i made this list. he means everything to me. he is the best native rep i have seen in anime and it hurts me how under loved he is in the fandom. people call him annoying or too violent but he perfectly captures the rage that builds when people have had to live under colonization for generations. he is so close to my heart and i’m slowly starting a collection for him so i can make a wyper ita bag !! i just want to see more of him, whether he show up to say hi to the strawhats every hundred eps or so, or if they cut back to skypeia to show how they’re doing, i just miss him so much. anyone who says to skip skypiea is at best stupid and at worst a racist freak that hates native people.
kiwi & mozu
these literal queens are the other reason i made this list. i love them so much and they’re just so funny. they’re amazing sisters and i wish we could see more of them !!
cindry
she is adorable and so so tragic. i don’t necessarily wish she continued showing up in the series, i just wish we had more of her in thriller bark. they don’t really explain the whole “her body remembers who she was even though her soul is gone” thing and i wish they explored that more. she’s also absolutely hilarious and i wish she was more loved in the fandom, despite how small a character she is (though i know she does have a few die hards).
shakky
she’s just literally so cool. she’s gorgeous and her relationship with rayleigh is amazing. they love each other so much but they both give each other enough space to do pretty much whatever they want !! their relationship seems to be somewhat canonically open since she flirts with brooke and i just think she’s a really cool character. also she used to be queen of amazon lily ?!?? how fucking cool is that !!
queen iva
i know her legal name, but most of her friends call her iva so i will too. she is a star, and i absolutely love her. i want more of her so bad, i want her to be a reoccurring character and I WANT IT NOW. not much else to say, she just slays so hard.
madam shyarley
why was she such a minor character ? she had such a cool character design, is the sister (i’m not sure if by blood or by adoption/found family) of arlong, and has fortune telling powers, for what ?!?? three episodes ?!?? a tragedy. she deserved better.
aaaand now we’re all caught up !! i haven’t finished punk hazard yet so i’m going to finish here !! i’ll try to remember to do another one of these once i’m caught up !!

Borrowing this from @where-does-the-heart-lie
RULES: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPS.
These are all going to be One Piece wips but uhhhh I will say some of them are very beginning sketches so don’t expect them all to look... great. Also you all have folders for wips and don’t just have them all mixed together with your other drawings in your documents folder???
Drawing wips:
- Sleeping Law Corazon - Heart Pirates Lights - Law Embroidering 2 - Law Embroidering - Arcane One Piece
Oh actually, maybe I’ll include tiny snippets of some writing wips too. My god I have so many lying around. Most of these don’t even have titles so I’m just gonna give nondescript titles for them out of my ass here
Writing wips:
- Cruelty and Kindness (Luffy and Law) - Luffy pesters Law - Luffy pesters Law, Aquarium edition - Law has a nightmare, Luffy offers reassurance - Law naps on Chopper (This one’s just an outline) - (This one I actually did.. sort of give a title jgslkf a placeholder one-) The Heart Pirates are Upsetti - Doflamingo (this one’s only three sentences. I have no idea where to go with it) - Post-Thriller Bark Zosan - By Steel and Sunlight Chapter 1 (Another one that has an actual title. A Zosan fic that may end up being ZoSanLu depending on how it goes if I continue it . I want to post this as an actual fic one day but I want to completely rewrite it. I don’t like some parts of what I have.) - By Steel and Sunlight (Later Snippet- Sanji’s hurt)
#I have so many damn wips I thought this would be fun and also maybe motivate me to finish these#FryTalks#One Piece

Another arc downnnnn and boy oh boy it was a big one
I took about a month break/long breaks between arcs so I don't remember all the details leading up to dressrosa so maybe I'll read a summary later to figure out what I've missed.
I feel like it was very interesting imo that dressrosa was very similar to the alabasta arc both in story and the way it raises the stakes for the straw hats (1st big island plot imo in the new world/grand line, respectively; gaining noteriety/more noteriety with the pirates in the area; saving an island from a warlord, etc).
We also got a whole lot of characters and a whole lot of backstories, more so than other arcs I feel (but I could be wrong on account of my break). Especially a lot of new characters that are now part of the straw hats fleet, who's names I will not/do not remember LOLLL. Which while crazy does make sense continuing that there will be at least official-in-name allies to luffy that aren't necessarily going to join the main crew.
I did like how they went about it though because luffy wouldn't be the type of guy to go through all that father son official ship thing in order to gain a fleet like that. Which also sort of goes with their thing that they're not heroes. They all do their own thing, that emphasis letting the people choose/giving them the freedom to do ur own thing and the freedom to choose to follow luffy and the straw hats. That's fucking awesome.
Mann I really wish I wasn't spoiled on Sabo still being alive but I'm glad I wasn't spoiled on anything else plot wise like him inheriting the flame-flame fruit (and MAN why he wasn't at the paramount war, fucking hurt)
Koala coming back... Law MAYBE joining the straw hats... Sabo... the entire dressrosa arc coming together as you find out whats up with this island... the power of friendship to kill a warlord (at least I hope he's dead)... there's so much I loved/got invested in while reading this arc
Also.. was there some hint that Cora could have had a kid??? Imma need to find that chapter again I didn't save it lol
Probably more I wanna say but I gotta stop bec I have work but MAN just a great arc
Also great way to add in the revolutionaries in here
Also also another increase to everyone's bounty. I'm rly expecting luffy to hit over a billion istg
(east blue) Paramount War = Impel Down > Dressrosa > Water Seven > Alabasta > Fish Man Island > Thriller bark > Sabaody > Punk Hazard > Skypeia

i love the gaang but straw hats are the most family you will ever get. one of the main themes of one piece is families of choice. its shown in most of the straw hats' individual stories (ace and sabo for luffy, bellemere and nojiko for nami, zeff and the baratie for sanji, hiriluk and kureha for chopper, saul and the archaeologists for robin, tom iceberg kokoro and yokozuna for franky, the rumbar pirates and laboon for brook) and of course the found family between the two. even outside of the strawhats there is so many examples of found family.
anyways heres some strawhat shenanigans that show their dedication for each other:
luffy even though he only knew nami for a short time freed her whole village and freed her from the pirate who had her trapped working as his navigator
he even gave nami his straw hat, which is his treasure, for safe keeping and as almost a security blanket
"nami was crying" "do they need any other reason to risk their lives?"
their found family love for each other is so strong they literally have the spirit of their ships manifest
robin was running her whole life and joins the straw hats because luffy would not let her die. she grows so fond of them and loves them dearly that she is willing to walk away and give herself to the government just to assure they would survive
usopp despite leaving the crew still loves them and joins them in fighting for robin
luffy declared war on the world government for robin, showing her that she deserves to want to live. usopp, who normally is very scared, without hesitation shoots through the world government's flag.
in that same incident, franky tells robin that her existence is not a sin and she carries no fault
thriller bark shows sanji and zoro willing to risk their lives to make sure luffy and the rest of the crew could survive, sacrificing themselves
luffy falls overboard and both chopper and brook, despite not being able to swim etiher, jump after him without a second thought
in sabaody when everyone is being teleported away, luffy fights tooth and nail for them until theyre all gone and then he breaks down, screaming and sobbing for them
this panel:
sanji allows himself to go along with an arranged marriage set by his biological abusive family and one of the most powerful pirates in the world to protect the strawhats and his dad zeff
luffy nami chopper brook and some allies go into big mom's territory to save sanji and lets himself starve in order to convince sanji to come back home.
sanji packs a bento but he misses the strawhats so much he ends up making all their favorite foods
nami risks her life by declaring that luffy will be the pirate king in a situation where she wouldnt be able to fight back, doubling down and continuing to say it even when hurt
some more images:
there are so many more little moments in the series that show their absolute dedication to each other and love each other
PLEASE VOTE THE STRAW HATS!!!
Found Family Tournament Round 2 Part 5 Group 23
Propaganda and further images under the cut
Gaang: Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Suki, Appa, Momo Strawhat Pirates: Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Franky, Brook, Jinbei
Gaang:
They’re kids from all over the world whose parents/guardians aren’t around for whatever reason who are just trying their best in a war torn world and they have far too much responsibility on their shoulders at such young ages and soo much trauma but they love and take care of each other because no one else can/will. They fight and make up, they commit crimes and acts of heroism (often at the same time), they’re terrifyingly powerful, they all have so many brain cells but forget to use them, they have fantastic character arcs, and they canonically stayed friends for life after the series ended.
have you seen them??
THE original found family of my life bro
sorry no thoughts head empty but they <3
Strawhat Pirates:
THERE IS LITERALLY A SONG ABOUT THEM BEING FAMILY BRO… AND THEY MAKE ME INSANE JUST GENERALLY THEY'RE MY EVERYTHING… LIKE I CAN'T EVEN PUT INTO WORDS HOW MUCH THEY MEAN TO ME https://youtu.be/_N_d4JctUcs (here is the song)

𝐒𝐔𝐃𝐃𝐄𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊 — RORONOA ZORO
↳ TYPE: drabble, GN! Reader
↳ SUMMARY: The swordsman brings up the idea of marriage out of the blue after rescuing you.
↳ WARNINGS: marriage talk, post Thriller Bark but no major spoilers, based on episode 388
“Sweet Y/N!”
Sanji’s voice called out from the Thousand Sunny, causing you to nearly shriek at the sight of one of the Flying Fish Riders coming straight towards you, nearly having you stumble back near the octopus fish-man, who also screamed as well at the sight. ‘Thanks for saving me…’ you slowly thought, almost losing your grip on the edge of the cobblestone shore.
In an instant, your eyes closed—a cry from one of the Riders caused you to wince and a weighted pressure was felt on your chest. Tan hands gripping your sides, only to have you fall onto the cobblestone path with the figure.
Turning around, your lover was breathing heavily, only to have you block out the cook’s consistent bickering from miles away despite the boat being out in the water—and even you were able to take note of his frustrated attitude that the swordsman saved you and not the crew’s chef.
“Zoro!” You shouted, watching him cough out in frustration while managing a few breaths. “Are you okay?!”
“Gotta save your ass all the time, huh?” he grunted, keeping his eyes closed. Head drenched in seawater, and he placed a palm on his chest; soaring pain streaking through from his previous injuries at the last island—only to increase his strength and to progress forward as a true crewmate, though his mind went haywire.
Weak. Again. Much like he always thought that he was.
“Don’t push yourself!” You noted, grabbing onto his shoulders, not minding that your body was starting to become even more soaked. “Zoro, please, don’t push it.”
“Anyone who lands a finger on you is dead,” he quipped. “No one is going to hurt you when I’m around.”
His head laid on your shoulder—mind blanking out for a brief moment, only to try to recapture his irregular breathing. Critical injuries were one thing, but this—it was something else to the extreme. And Zoro pushed it, nearly to the face of death; to have a heart no longer beat, but at least it only skipped a few of them whenever your presence soared above him.
“Yes, I know,” you sighed, keeping his head close to your neck. Wrapping your arms around him, Zoro softened, taking in the growing heat of consolation. “Thank you for saving me… I’m just worried about you.”
“Don’t be,” he exhaled. “If I can’t take out lousy fishmen then what swordsman can I be? What kind of future husband can’t protect his own—”
“What?” Your jaw nearly dropped. “We never agreed on marriage yet!”
“Ha,” Zoro chuckled humorously, a smirk growing into a fine grin. “I know. M’just sayin’, it’ll come at some point.”
“I mean—” you gulped, hiding the flustered state by pushing his head further into your neck, which Zoro slowly dipped down to your chest. His cheeks blossomed a tinted red. “Shut it. I don’t wanna talk about that right now.”
“Sure, sure,” he muttered. “How about we just—”
“Yohohoho!”
Your eyes widened, where you both watched the flimsy skeleton dance along the water only to have him tumble down on the same path as you. Quirking a brow, Zoro hummed in confusion, and you stared at Brook—eyes enlarged; face completely in deep annoyance from his loud outburst but also grateful that another crew member was able to come to both of your presences.
“Ah!” Brook exhaled tiredly, flopping face down on the path. “That’s it for me! I got muscle cramps—well… not that I have any.”
“Hey,” Zoro spoke up, catching his breath. Hands still clenched around your waist tightly as you both sat on the ground. “Nice work there Brook. You really knocked those Riders out.”
“Yeaaah…” Brook whined, continuing to let out weighted breaths. “I need a moment to rest up a bit.”
Zoro winced in pain, gripping on you tight causing you to gasp.
“Zoro,” Brook said loudly. “It’s just as I thought. Your injuries from Thriller Bark haven’t healed. Y/N, you’re gonna have to try to stop him from pushing it too far.”
Tightening your lips in a line, you sighed. “I try, but it’s my fault for getting into danger.”
“Nonsense,” Zoro retorted, cutting in. “I have to pro—” he groaned, gritting his teeth from the sharp pain to his chest. “Protect the person I wanna marry, don’t I?”
Brook’s jaw dropped, causing you to shiver at the skeleton’s sight. He let out his charming laugh, right before patting the top of his skull. “Yohohoho, do I sense a marriage coming to our crew very soon?”
“I have no idea what he’s talking about.”
“Are you quite sure about that?”
You kept your mouth covered on Zoro’s mouth, where he only sealed his eyes shut and breathed steadily.
A cheeky smile from your lips was flashed towards the musician.
“No idea at all.”

{Yandere!Perona x Reader}
Rules Word Count: 0.5k TW: Yandere Themes Spoilers: None
"Awee, darling don't be scared, I won't hurt you." The lolita before you cooed as she brushed some of your hair out of your face, "Your voice is just... a little much?"
You struggled in the restraints that tied you to the plush pink armchair you were being held in. The gag in your mouth preventing you from speaking.
"It's better like this, silence is a lot cuter than your constant blabbering about wanting to leave." She pouted up at you as she rested her head on the arm of the chair. "I give you everything don't I? What more could you possibly want?"
Talking about not liking her and wanting to leave is what got you in this situation. She'd send one of her ghosts to make you depressed, only for her to come over and comfort your vulnerable state. Eventually, she got tired of that and just decided to make you stop talking.
"Talking's overrated anyway," She began, taking out her nail polish, "I think it's a lot better like this. I can do all the talking." She said, smiling at you, as she brushed a coat of pink polish over your nails.
Perona liked to care for you like you were a fragile doll, and to her, that's exactly what you were. A possession to keep on display. She'd come in and cut your hair so it'd always be perfect, and she'd give you different outfits to wear so the two of you could have a matching aesthetic. This wasn't entirely what you were expecting when Moria and his zombies kidnapped you on that one fateful day. Perona must've begged him till he finally caved to go collect you from whatever ocean you might be floating in.
"Absalom said he'd marry us, won't that be exciting?" She giggled, floating around in the air above you, absolutely thrilled at the thought. "Maybe I'll let you speak for that. I'd love to hear those vows come out of your pretty mouth." She claimed, pinching your cheek gently like you would to a child, before continuing the manicure.
At least she was nice to you, right? On occasion, she might hurt you mentally, but physically? She had never even thought of laying a hand on your gorgeous skin. Someone so attractive should have that beauty preserved, shouldn't they? And she was there to make sure you were beautiful forever.
“Sooo, tomorrow I was wondering if you wanted to go on a walk with me? It’d just be through the forests we have on Thriller Bark, but maybe we could walk through the graves too!” Her big obsessive eyes looked at you hopefully, she loved doing stuff with you, especially when you agreed to doing it.
You nodded at her. You were getting tired of the gag she placed on you. Maybe this would be the thing you did to convince her to take it off?
She squealed, hugging you tightly to her. “Really! I love you so much!” She then proceeded to pepper you face in kisses, so excited to be able to spend time with you.
“You can wear my jacket. Oh, you’d look so cute in it!” The pinkette was frantically searching her closet for things you could wear, she was going to have so much fun dressing you up for tomorrow nights evening out!

SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 1031
.
.
.
.
.
Oh lord, here we go. I was supposed to post this first but i just couldn't get a hold of myself because goddamn i wanna give Sanji a hug! 😭
ANYWAY...
So this chapter gave us another continuation of Sanji vs. Queen. But first we see Sanji trying to remember if he actually hurt the woman that he encountered as he was running away from Queen.
Now, this is weird. Did the transformation made him black out for a second? That's why he couldn't remember if he actually hurt the woman? Hmmmmmm...
The next panel did gave us a confirmation that he did attack the lady (or maybe not idk. we're pretty much just as lost as Sanji here lol)
But then these next lines freaking crushed my soul...
God, Sanji is just a great fucking character man. I don't know what to say anymore. And him being the future king of the pirate's wing showed more in this chapter aND I LOVE IT A LOT.
This was kinda unexpected tho, but I like it. It's nice to see that he didn't do what Queen wants him to do, and totally cutting his connections to Germa. But it's also interesting because those are not the only reasons why he destoryed the raid suit.
But we'll get into that later because THIS moment with him talking to Zoro through the den den mushi that he secretly put in Zoro's haramaki is SO GOOD! LIKE MY GUY JUST REALLY LIKES TO LOOK OUT FOR HIS MOSSHEAD!
But shipping aside, I just adore the level of trust that he has for Zoro. He can pretty much ask anyone to take him down, but he had to choose Zoro. Man, this brings back the memories of Thriller Bark.
Aaaand, going back to the other reason why Sanji destroyed his raid suit... Well, here it is! It's because he can now vanish even without wearing the suit! Kinda contradicts his farewell to the women's bathrooms from the previous panels and now I'm concerned... BUT, it's still cool! Also that attack's name... damn. This man just needs a freaking break... and a hug 🥺
#or maybe i'm wrong about sanji going invisible or vanishing even without his suit#cuz doesnt stealth black has the ability to move fast? if i'm remember it correctly from law's nerdy moment from sanji vs page one#maybe that's the deal there? instead of him going invisible??#and idk but... i dont think sanji's gonna end up like his siblings#like it's too obvious right? unless oda does another 'SIKE' and make sanji and the rest of the crew in feel more agony#one piece#op spoilers#one piece spoilers#long post
