Genuinely the more Filoni writes Thrawn the more upset I get. I’ve poured who even knows how many hours of my life into absorbing Thrawn as a character and being enthralled in his story just to watch all of it get bastardized and ignored. It makes me angry to tears as a fan and makes me EXTREMELY upset as an artist and writer, because if Filoni just made his own character to fuck around with that would be fine, I wouldn’t care, but taking a character someone else has poured as much time as Timmothy Zahn has into Thrawn? Taking a character whose creator has written books for in both the old canon and current canon continuities? A character with 12 total books to his name (if you count Legends ofc and further count the Hand of Thrawn books which like I know he’s dead by then but ykwim)? It’s cruel!

Illustrated by artist Russ Walks for the Star Wars Galaxy: Series 3 set of trading cards, released by Topps in 1995. Leia Organa Solo, holding her two newborn infants, Jaina and Jacen. The babies were born on Coruscant in 9 ABY, with Jaina being the eldest of the twins by 5 minutes. The birth of the twins was much publicized throughout the galaxy via the HoloNet, resulting in a brief baby boom throughout the New Republic. In a Tales story, named Routine, it was hinted that Jaina may have been named after Han's mother, who the story suggests may have shared the name. Regarding the origin of the twins, editor Tom Dupree recalled Bantam Books submitting a short, one or two page checklist to George Lucas for the Thrawn Trilogy where questions were asked as to what George would permit in the new books. Notably, when asked two questions -- "Can Han and Leia get married?" and "Can they have kids?”, George's reply to both was the same: "YES." With that short answer, the path to the birth of Jaina and Jacen was laid. Author Timothy Zahn would recall years later in an interview with Adventure Journal #1 the process of naming the two Solo children: "Jacen was easy. He was [my son] Corwin's best friend at the time, and so I named the boy Jasen, although Betsy Mitchell [Bantam's editor] suggested changing the "s" to a "c" so it wasn't so 1980s popular name. Jaina took a lot more work. I remember going over several days writing down names and bouncing them back and forth with Betsy and not really finding what we wanted yet. I figured if we were going to have Luke and Leia with similar initials, these twins ought to have similar initials as well."

Today I am thinking about: an Ezra whose written and read Cheunh is better than his written and read Basic ever was. He got what, maybe two years of formal education ever? And I'm sure Hera and Kanan did their best in between all the rebeling and surviving, but compare that to being stuck with Thrawn and very little to do for years? Yeah.

Ok so, one the one hand, I'm not a fan of how interconnected and dependent upon watching other shows the mandoverse is
And the fact that Skeleton Crew is apparently separate from them despite existing in the same time is appealing for me
That said
I think it would be so much better and fitting if these kids ended up being thrawn's new nemesis' and eventual cause of his downfall
Nothing bruises a fascist's ego like losing to those they deem lesser

I can’t help but think about how it was never Sabines goal to send Ezra home.
All she wanted was to be with him. She risked the entire galaxy just so she could find and be with him again.
And now just like that he’s gone. She was finally with him, only to be torn apart by the same thing that did it the first time.
I can’t imagine what she must be feeling

In the droid production facility on Mokivj...
Padmé: Hey, be safe
Anakin: Always
Outside in the ship...
Che'ri sarcastically: Cart ran'bin'he'ar (be safe)
Thrawn laughing: Ch'ah csarcican't cart cseo ran'bin'he'ar (I'll be so safe)

deep thrawn thoughts
(Just reread Vol. 1 of the Thrawn comic and had Things To Say. Lmk if I should elaborate on anything.)
“My job—the sole reason for my existence—is to defend the Chiss Ascendancy and protect my people. I will do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal, and I will allow nothing and no one to stand in my way.”
~ Timothy Zahn, Lesser Evil
Thrawn’s view of himself as an asset, a weapon, a tool of the Ascendancy is an example of his deep dehumanization of himself and his outlook as someone of no value except as a resource to be utilized. Thrawn thinks of himself as an expendable resource, and this contributes to his lack of value for himself, despite the deep value others have for him and the enormous positive impact he has on the lives of those around him. Though he seems to be controlling the chessboard, he sees himself as a pawn to be sacrificed, going where he can be the most use to his government. Thrawn’s disassociation from his humanity—his wants and needs and desires—are the true tragedy of his character, and why he serves as the perfect foil for Jedi Anakin Skywalker. The tragedy of Anakin was that he gave up his duty for the sake of his desires, while Thrawn’s tragic nature demands he forsake his desires in order to uphold his duty.
The greatest military mind the galaxy has ever seen, and yet he cannot bring himself to value everything that he is.
In this essay I will—

Is Eli left handed?? I feel like it was mentioned briefly in the Thrawn (2017) book but can’t find it for the life of me. And now I’m reading a fic where it mentions he’s left handed (this is the second fic I’ve read that mentions it too). HELP
