Okay but the contrast to this moment and Horse and the Infant!!
Because Odysseus begs both times, “Please don’t make me do this.”
But the first time Zeus is telling him to kill one baby to save everyone else (most importantly his wife) and he isn’t really being given a choice “This is the will of the Gods”
Whereas this time it really is a choice. A horrible choice, yes, but Odysseus is not being made to kill his crew, he is deciding between their lives and seeing his wife again. In Horse and The Infant he does something terrible to save more lives. In Thunder Bringer he does something terrible that sacrifices many lives solely to save his own. He really has become a monster.
And yet, right from the beginning Ody tells us that he would trade the world to see his son and wife. He would have always made this choice. It’s just that now he can throw the guilt away.
He has become a monster and in the same breath he is exactly the same.

so my mind has a classification system i still haven't dissected, and that combined with the fact tumblr puts so many random fandoms on my dash means that i sometimes Mislabel things mentally.
anyways: for a period of ~18 months i thought Sarcastic Fringehead was the stage name of this performer:

I was thinking about how the show explained that when you make a wish, essentially the old world you lived in is erased and they make a new world centered around your wish.
BUT what if the kwami ACTUALLY destroy the world??
And I just wanted to draw a dramatic apocalyptic scene ahahahahha
I applied it to a silly platonic/step-siblings Lady Noire and Mister Bug AU I dreamed about literally last night.

queer is better than lgbt+ because if you're in the + you're an afterthought, an etc., less important and valued to the community than anyone lgbt. queer however, queer works for us all, queer includes everyone

the other thing that itched at my brain on upon a rewatch was ruth harker's insistence that she did everything she did so that lee be "allowed" to grow up and yet we are surrounded by evidence of stagnation. the hoarding. the fact that she keeps teeth and hair from lee's childhood. the doll, the literal eternal manifestation of lee as a child. and the fact that lee herself is so clearly stunted by this terrible thing that happened to her, BECAUSE she cannot remember it enough to confront it. ruth claims that she is protecting them both but her every action keeps them both steeped in their trauma. and it is very obvious that this movie is about parents who do damage through acts of love and intention to protect but there is something about her actively preserving the memory of her daughter pre-trauma and being unable to connect to the woman she's become that makes me nuts. if there's anyone who's not letting lee grow up, its ruth.
