when did the tumblr culture around asks change so much? ive been thinking about it alot recently and its something i already do think about time to time, like... what happened? they used to be such a huge part of the community and suddenly fell off.

i think in 2024 maybe we should work to bring back the larger ask culture. start more random conversations with others, create and share more ask games, maybe say something nice to the people you follow, drop off a silly meme or just pop in and say hi!

I actually find gender swapping characters really interesting (what part of their expression is dictated by gender norms vs certain events in their life vs their personal preferences that wouldn't change either way, etc.) so now I wanna draw what that would look like in my ocs except I am in pain rn so I'm forced to just lie there and be plagued by visions

gotta say i tried watching the iwtv series but the tone just seems off somehow. there are good things about it sure, and i do love sam reid (?) as lestat, but the tone issue is similar to why i think vampire diaries is so off-putting for me. like, it focuses on sex and blood so strongly in a way, and sort of misses the elements that made the books so interesting to me. i wish i could explain this vibe better, lol.

that being said, i would be interested in your opinion on the show if you ever watch it! often when i happen to know the piece of media you're talking about you voice things about it that i haven't been able to put into words myself but strongly agree with, haha.

I'll try watching it today since the books are still fresh in my mind and see what I think! Curious to know instead of just judge mostly based on clips and gifs...

Here's some bonus stuff I found in the files! Just got you! (Again note that this stuff is very prone to being changed or scrapped)

The new duplicants seem to be a new type of duplicant called bionic duplicants. They are a mix of organic and inorganic components, so my cyborg dupe theory does indeed seem to be correct! It seems like they have power banks and oxygen tanks that will need managed, and they seem to require oil to operate as well. As time goes on, a new material called gunk will build up in their systems, and they will need to visit something called the gunk extractor to be cleaned up. Their oxygen tanks also allow them to work in low oxygen environments, and it can be assumed that they won't need sleep, and potentially not even need food. They also seem to be able to install booster packs that increase their skills, and can come with preinstalled booster packs with some on print traits, including one that allows them to locate undiscovered geysers (which doesn't sound super useful tbh but it's still neat)

idk if anyone else has experienced this but ive seen some older stex fans complaining about the newer fans who found the show through the revival like “oh they dont know how to act they just don’t respect the show” but honestly is think these older fans like this are the ones who don’t know how to act cause sometimes they’re just really mean for no reason. like some people just talk about how much they hate the revival and i completely understand not liking it but dont go around and be rude to people who enjoy it. ALSO why are you complaining about new people joining your fandom 😭 this is a forty year old musical. if you dont like people in a fandom you can just block them but why are you complaining about new people engaging with a piece of media

it's been years but my heart remains soft for dramione and zutara. look idc if you don't like it, whatever floats your boat, but i just cannot let the idea stand that it was only a ship or only popular because "bad boy/good girl" or "fire and water." it's about the redemption. the healing. the hard work towards a connection. for draco, for zuko: the idea that if you really want to, you can change. that you're worth more than your mistakes. that there isn't a place you can't pull yourself out of if you put in the work. that you might have been better if you hadn't been where you were; that you have the chance now.

for hermione, for katara: that people have seen you the same way your whole life and now you are given the chance to break away. that you have wounds and dark moments that the motherly ones and the bookworms shouldn't have, don't get to have--but that someone has been at the bottom of that same pit, that there's a hand reaching down. that there was a bitter, cruel history that meant you had no choice but to be enemies. but that there is that choice, now.
