DOLTON, Ill. (WGN) — Self-proclaimed “Super Mayor” Tiffany Henyard is taking her threats against opponents to a new level: Threatening them with arrest.
“I will be seeking arrests for individuals involved,” Henyard said during an hour-and-a-half long Facebook Live broadcast. “I will be pressing charges. It’s a lot. And that’s just me telling you a little bit.”
However, Henyard didn’t specify what crimes she believes were committed. The social media stream of consciousness occurred Tuesday evening following a Thornton Township trustees meeting that was cancelled officially due to lack of quorum.
Up or down? Thornton Township meeting cancelled again after location dispute, safety concerns
“All this pointing the finger at Tiffany — or lying on me — I’m over it. Now it’s time for me to speak,” Henyard said on Facebook. She accused her opponents of a “power and money grab” while promising to reveal evidence at an unspecified later date.
WGN Investigates reached out to Henyards attorneys, who she claimed afterward, asked her stay silent. Neither provided examples of the alleged corruption or explained why Henyard might believe her opponents can be arrested and charged.
This isn’t the first time Henyard has promised – and failed – to deliver proof of her opponents’ corruption or her own vindication. She has previously promised to “spill the tea” on a short-lived podcast. She also went on a brief national media tour that backfired and cost taxpayers.
Faced with fury over spending, Henyard went on media tour — and billed taxpayers
Meanwhile, Henyard and her boyfriend are the subjects of an eviction lawsuit by the owner of the home they share in Dolton.
“I think in her mind she feels she’s untouchable, which is a problem,” landlord Genetta Hull told WGN Investigates.
Hull said she’s known the Henyard family for twenty years and assumed the mayor and township supervisor would be reliable tenants. Now, Hull said she fears losing the home to foreclosure.
Henyard and her boyfriend Kamal Woods — who makes $100,000 a year running violence prevention programs for Thornton Township — have failed to pay several months of rent after objecting to an increase caused by property taxes, according to Hull.
“I have other bills. I have a child to take care of. I can’t afford to pay for where you live! You’re making $375,000!” Hull said.
Henyard’s attorney, Max Solomon, declined to comment beyond saying he would represent the couple in the eviction case.
WGN Investigates has documented lavish spending, first class travel and questionable expenditures under Henyard’s reign in Dolton and Thornton Township. The FBI has served subpoenas and continues to investigate.
One of Henyard’s top allies on the township board recently resigned and another, her former assistant Carmen Carlisle, has turned against her, resulting in Henyard losing control of the township board she once dominated.
Henyard is facing a similar erosion of trust in the Village of Dolton where she’s the mayor. Dolton trustees have taken control of meetings and moved them to a park district building.
Henyard was recently boo’d as she left one of those meetings after arriving late. She unsuccessfully asked a Cook County judge to invalidate meetings that don’t occur at village hall.

"INFANT ESCAPES INJURY WHEN WINDOWS SMASHED," Toronto Star. August 3, 1934. Page 14. --- Four large chunks of concrete were hurled through the front windows of the home of Colin Hall, Thornton Ave., York township, about 12.20 a.m. to-day. One of the chunks landed beside the head of a child sleeping in his crib. He was showered with glass. Mr. Hall was working at the Tilley Williams Shoe Company at New Toronto, where some 20 men are on strike. One of the shattered windows is shown in (1). The force of the impacts are indicated in (2), where the metal work is dented and twisted. Some of the jagged pieces of concrete are shown in (3), the hand giving some idea of their size. Four windows were also smashed in the home of George Williams, president of the company, on Indian Grove.

DOLTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Dolton's embattled mayor addressed the public and took new action involving village officials on Tuesday.
Tuesday night's regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting was canceled because there were not enough trustees present.
But Mayor Tiffany Henyard still showed up and appointed a new village administrator and a new village attorney.
Dolton Trustee Jason House told ABC7 those appointments are not valid, and the appointees will not be paid.

This comes on the same day that Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul's office issued a "binding opinion," saying that Dolton repeatedly violated the Open Meetings Act this summer.
Raoul is ordering Dolton to make all future meetings convenient and open to the public.
That includes ensuring there's enough space and not closing streets or putting up parking barricades.

ELIZABETH ROBINSON SCHWARTZ // ATHLETE
“She was an American athlete and winner of the first Olympic 100 meters for women. She achieved national acclaim as an Olympic champion as a student at Thornton Township High School. Her talent was discovered by her science teacher, who was a former athlete. She ran her first official race in 1928 at the age of 16 where she finished 2nd in the 60 yard dash. At her next race for outdoors at 100m, she beat Helen Filkey, the US record holder for the race, and equalled the world record, though her time was not recognised. At the Amsterdam Olympics, she was the only US athlete to qualify for the 100m final and won, equaling the world record of 12.2 seconds. She remains the youngest athlete to win Olympic 100m gold.”

Local govts vie for TMT's model cities, towns awards SEVENTEEN local government units (LGUs) across the country are vying for awards at The Manila Times model cities and municipalities contest, which was launched on September 7 at the Diamond Hotel in Malate, Manila. The event's theme, "Future-proofing the quality of township living," focuses on the abilities of LGUs to create livable and sustainable communities. The last time the awards were given out was in 2019, before the Covid pandemic hit. 4TH MODEL CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES AWARDS LAUNCHED Dante 'Klink' Ang 2nd, chairman and CEO of The Manila Times (seated, center) and Romualdo Murcia 3rd, chairman and managing partner of P&A (seated, second from right), lead the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MoA) for the 4th The Manila Times Model Cities and Municipalities Awards, at the Diamond Hotel in Manila on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023. GERARD SEGUIAThe 12 cities and five municipalities vying for the awards will be judged based on 15 categories covering sustainability, social development and economic growth, improvement of livelihood, and tourism growth. One city and municipality will be recognized as the winners for each category, with second and third runners-up.P&A Grant Thornton, a leading accounting and consulting firm in the country, is the event's auditor.Romualdo Murcia 3rd, chairman and managing partner of P&A Grant Thornton, said the company chose to continue participating in the event since it is aligned with its Clearr goals: Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect and Responsibility."We want to collaborate, not only with businesses and professional organizations, but with other entities with the same mindset of identifying good governance practices," he said.Murcia emphasized the importance of good governance in LGUs and businesses through compliance with the law and government directives.Good governance "is also a really critical area in our operations. Since we are external auditors, I really emphasize the importance of good governance, not only in businesses and local government practices," he said.He expects the LGUs to also embrace digital transformation."We believe that digital transformation can help in easing business, and hopefully enhance service products by digitalizing requirements and policies," Murcia said.Sustainability, core principle of their advocacy, focuses on improving living and working conditions, and protecting climate and natural resources that are aligned with their sustainability mandate.Mai Sigue-Bisnar, partner in the Advisory Services and Audit at P&A, noted the improvement in handling sustainability and social services among the participating LGUs. Sigue-Bisnar is one of the judges at the event."I've seen that they are so conscious of sustainability and carbon footprints. For a municipality to focus on that, that's a good thing," she said. She also observed improvements in the livelihoods of women and the elderly. Part of Sigue-Bisnar's advocacy is to empower women through providing employment.Maeyeth Cadungog is impressed by the LGUs' programs that stress the importance of family and children starting from infancy up to old age. Cadungog also noted the use of "witty and clever ideas" from participating LGUs."We are the next Japan in terms of an aging community. It's surprising to see that there are cities preparing for that," she said.Cadungog is assistant to the vice president at Wilcon Depot Inc. She is representing Rosemarie Bosch Ong, Wilcon's senior executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO).Erickson Beco, content manager at Megaworld Corp., said sustainability and tourism improvements positively impact other industries."Tourism has one of the biggest multiplier effects in the industry. It's an important factor in terms of generating revenue for the city, reinforcing branding and showcasing what is unique in your city to foreign travelers," said Beco, who is representing Harold Brian Geronimo as a judge.Geronimo is the vice president for Public Relations and Media Affairs for Megaworld Corp.Sheila Lobien, CEO of Lobien Realty Group, cited the improvement of livelihoods and family, compared to the 3rd Model cities and municipalities, which she also judged four years ago."Based on the experience of the pandemic, it's important to have a system in place whether it is a disaster or health crisis. They have improvements on food supply, green environment, and preparedness," she said.Jose Nazareth delas Alas, market specialist IV of the Philippine Retirement Agency (PRA), is looking forward to seeing improvements in retirement facilities of these communities.Medical services, recreational places, basic housing, and provision of basic needs and security are also a must, delas Alas said."Importante yung 'warmness' ng tao. Iba raw ang Pilipino, they always smile (It's important to foster a 'caring' community. That makes Filipinos different, they always smile)," he said. The participating LGUs have also become more business-friendly, according to Carla Cadiz, marketing manager at Phirst Park Homes."Across all the cities, business permits are already processed quickly. Usually, that's the problem, and improvement in this area is expected. It's good that it's being addressed," said Cadiz, who is representing Loren Sales, COO of Phirst Park Homes, as judge. The winners will be announced on September 18.
