My Personal Death Witch Correspondence List

It’s my opinion that correspondences should always be personal - if you don’t connect with a particular plant or crystal, it won’t do anything to help your work. But here are some that have worked well FOR ME as a starting point for your own personal exploration.

Botanicals

Acorns/Oak - oak is a very prevalent tree spirit where I live and it’s kind, protective nature works well with the dead. I love to bring fresh-picked acorns as a seasonal gift.

Chrysanthemum - An Autumn flower that is closely associated with the dead and often planted in cemeteries. Dries beautifully and can be used as a later Winter offering when flowers are scarce.

Frankincense - an OG spirit scent, frankincense has been used for centuries for worship and spirituality. This works especially well for spirits of the jeudo-Christian faiths, but I have never found a spirit that didn’t enjoy a good frankincense. Bonus: incense sticks are easy to bring to a cemetery.

Lavender - lavender is sweet, floral, and calming which I find works well when dealing with restless spirits. It also can be extremely calming for you if you are nervous and dealing with your spirits.

Marigold - Closely associated with the Mexican festival Dia de Muertos, marigolds are a beautiful and colorful addition to any ancestor altar. They are also cheap and readily accessible where I live. They also dry well and make a great option for a later Winter offering when local flowers are harder to come by.

Rosemary - Rosemary is for remembrance, right? Rosemary has been connected with the dead since the ancient Greeks used to throw it in the graves of the recently deceased. I burn it, decorate my house with it, and use its essential oils in ritual.

Roses - another plant that you often find in cemeteries, roses were a favorite scent in a time before modern perfumes were made popular. Roses are great because they can symbolize a lot of different things based upon color associations and so you have many choices.

Tea - a nice and sweet gift that you can bring for the spirits in general or make for a particular spirit that can be “poured out” in the cemetery. This can be herbal tea made with other correspondence from this list or more traditional black tea as you feel called to make. Bonus, bring some for yourself in the thermos and have tea with your spirits.

Stones/Earth/Dirt

Obsidian - this seems like a no-brainer to me. I always have imagined that Tartaris/Hell/your name of choice is made of obsidian. I keep a chunk of obsidian that is personally dedicated to Hades but also use a bunch of raw Apache’s Tears in my protection work.

Lava stone - do you sense a theme here yet? I’m a bit of a volcano witch which is sorta funny given that I live in the Northeast where there are no volcanoes. Sometimes you don’t choose the magick, the magick chooses you. Lava stones, also known as basalt, is deeply grounding which is important when dealing with the spirits. Plus, it was born of the creation of the Earth itself which is wicked cool. Extra bonus, you can use it to carry the scents of EO from the botanicals above while interacting with spirit. This is also a great connection to the goddess Hel/Helya/Hella if you are interested in working with her.

Smokey Quartz - you must see my theme by now. Quartz is good for boosting magick and smokey quartz adds the deeper lower chakra energies which send us into the ground.

Graveyard dirt - I’ll be specific here. Dirt from a graveyard with which you are intimately familiar. That you collected yourself. Buying graveyard dirt offline is super weird and do you even know where it came from? I use the graveyard dirt from my cemetery in protective and darker magicks - it is my way of involving my spirits when they could not otherwise be there.

Ancestor Dirt - I separated this out because I think that it is important if you wish to practice death witchcraft to involve and venerate your ancestors. If you can, get dirt specifically from their graves. My dirt comes the grave of my Grandmother who was my closest family member. I use this primarily in protective and ancestor work.

Crossroads Dirt - not all death witches work with crossroads deities, but I suggest making friends with one. This is very helpful for liminal work in general and all road opening work. If you’re not good with working with deities, there are multiple liminal animals (crow for instance) who can also be cultivated for this purpose.

Bones - not technically dirt or rocks, but connected to the ground. Please ethically source! I tend to pick up everything that I can that is made of bones - I have a rune set made of cattle bone and a few years ago my brother gifted me with a set of dominos from the Civil War that is also made from bones. These always sit on my ancestor altar. I also have the bones of a bear spirit that I recovered and cleaned myself.

Cremains - still not technically dirt or rocks, but this is an amazing connection to your family and your past pets if you can get your hands on it. I have my spirit familiar Elric’s cremains in a beautiful wooden box gifted to me by the cremation company - it sits on my ancestor altar. One of my coven mates was able to get some of her Grandfather’s ashes to add to her altar recently too.

Other

Booze - spirits for the spirits is an obvious one. There is an age-long connection between the dead and their love of alcohol whether it be wine or something harder. I find that some spirits are picky about what they want to drink and others are just happy to be remembered, so listen carefully and take note.

Water - I have a lovely teacup that belonged to my Nana. I keep it filled with water and a bit of the dirt from her grave. Watering it is one of my weekly rituals that keeps me connected to her.

Food - Did your family members have foods that they specifically liked to eat? I give my Nana candy because she had a major sweet tooth. I also try to make my family’s recipe of tourterie (French meat pies) once a year for the ancestors. For the most part, I keep food to an inside offering though as I don’t want to sicken wild animals with food that they shouldn’t eat.

Items of Cultural Significance - Though I practice paganism, my ancestors were primarily Catholic and I honor that tradition. I have gifted them with a number of beautiful pieces of Catholic memorabilia that I collected from around the world. My husband's family is Scottish, so Scotch is one of the things that gets offered up to those ancestors. I also make a point of harvesting Scottish thistle for our ancestor altar.

When a teacher from Gotham Academy and the Camp Director from Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's Camp for Hardcore Lady Types go missing, it’s up to the kids to take up the investigation! Encountering a spooky cabin in the woods surrounded by skull-headed floating spirits, the two groups of kids need to team up to rescue their captured friends. But many horrors await inside - including a Sweet 16 party ripped from the 1980′s!

In general this graphic novel was harmless fun inspired by things like Scooby Doo and “special episodes” of 80′s and 90′s sitcoms. There are a lot of fun little references and nods to other media, but it never really gets above that. We don’t get a chance to dig into the characters that much (there are so many of them!) and that was a little disappointing. I think this series ran for 6 issues just so they could manage to have each character do SOMEthing!

At 6 issues, it was probably a bit long. This story could have probably been told in four, but with the volume of characters and the desire to stretch it out a bit to solidify some of the plot points it expanded. While these characters and the situations they generally encounter fit together pretty nicely, I really don’t feel this story did justice to either parent book. I read the original series of Gotham Academy, so I was familiar with those characters, but I didn’t get a full sense of those from Lumberjanes. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the book and while I found the characters likeable, I’m not really compelled to run out and grab the graphic novel collections. I’m sure the same could be said of those familiar with Lumberjanes not being compelled to buy Gotham Academy collections. It was “cute” but not something extraordinarily memorable.

I found the art fun and fitting. There were many fun panels and the characters were always very expressive and engaging. I had a little trouble discerning which characters were which, but that might have been more due to my being unfamiliar with some of them.

Overall, this was a decent crossover, but nothing special. I wanted to get excited about both books, but it just never got beyond “cute” for me.

Garden Party. A Gwil Short

You can thank @filmslutt for that cute little moodboard you see below! I asked her to send me a request because I was super bored and then this came up! Don’t ask me how I got this from that from I think it’s sort of cute in a sense.

I hope everyone is doing okay with what’s going on in the world. Please be careful and just enjoy the fact that we live in the same Universe that the Bohrap boys live in.

Masterlist

I’d say the best advantage of living on an island far up north would be the smell of the North Atlantic Ocean. The people are so friendly, the food is all home cooked and fresh, and it’s super quiet. The worst thing? When you finally head to civilization for a week to spend with your family ya meet a really great guy and now he’s wanting to bring his friends up to meet me! Not that I haven’t met them over facetime and of course I said yes because he wouldn’t stop talking about them and how great they are! I’ve also seen their instagrams, they’re definitely super close with one another!

So. I thought it would be fun if I had a garden party! I’ve busted my butt through the entire summer with the help of Gwil who kept making time out of his super busy schedule to help me with my gardening. Our Scots Bluebell turned out beautifully all around the house, of course the thistles turned out gorgeous. The bellheathers turned a bright purple, my jacobite roses bloomed of course, and finally my dwarf cornel though taking a little longer than usual, turned out great!

Alright it’s 1:10 and Gwil just told me he just picked them up from the airport. He said there’s going to be a total of eight people he’s bringing tonight. Luckily I’ve got enough room in my big old house to fit everyone. The last ferry usually leaves around eight and driving here around night isn’t always the best. I’ve got plenty of bunkbeds and single beds.

For an appetizer I’m starting with Partan Bree (which is crab bisque), then two main cuisines of Bangers and Mash along with the second cuisine of course mini scottish pies. And for dessert it’s Cranachan!

One knock came from the back door as it opened for my friend to come and give me a hand with the cooking. You think I would do this all by myself? Of course not. Look, I love multitasking, but when it comes to cooking I’d like to make sure everything is cooked well.

“How much time do we have Maisy?” Bonnie asked as she carried in some of the groceries I asked her to buy. Of course I invited my best friend. Though he’s met her multiple times when he drove up here, just didn’t want to be alone when they all come up here.

“Inverness Airport is where everyone is meeting so we got about five hours. I have to start taking apart the crab if you want to start getting the mash ready.” Bonnie nodded as she walked behind the counter.

“So who's all coming to this party?” Bonnie asked as I started cutting the skin off the crab.

“Gwil of course. Joe, Ben and his girl sadly can’t remember her name. Rami and Lucy, and another couple Allen and his wife Jessica.” Finishing the first crap as I moved onto the next one.

“Holy Hell. Didn’t realize you were feeding’ the masses today!” Bonnie laughed as she began peeling the potatoes.

“Neither did I until a few days ago when he told me they were out and about. But oh well.” I laughed as I stopped peeling for a second to turn on the TV.

“What are we feeling Bonnie?” I asked her as I scrolled down to the apps.

“Have you watched Rosemary's baby?” For some odd reason whenever Bonnie and I cook, we just love watching scary movies. Don’t ask me why because we just do!

“I’ve heard it’s freaky so yes. Hulu?”

“Netflix.” I nodded as I opened netflix then got the movie started.

I finished peeling the last crab as the pile of crab meat was sitting there ready to become some delicious bisque. We started watching the movie while beginning to cut up the crab shells. Bonnie and I kept stopping once every few minutes to watch the movie because it’s just so bizzare. Who names their kid Guy? Imagine growing up with your first name being Guy! No offense to those named Guy, but what a poor kid!

“From the way Guy’s attitude. She blames it on being an actor, but I think that’s just him being an ass hole.” I pointed out as I placed the crab skins apart of the meat to start cutting them apart.

“So not ALL actors are self entiled ass holes?”

“Cheeky bitch.” I tossed a piece of crab skin at her as she darted a piece of skinned potato at me.

“Gwil is much calmer and knows how the industry works. Oh my god her hair!” I got distracted at how big the top of random chicks hair was! It’s all shoved on top!

“It looks like a popcorn kernel! Oh she’s dead..” We both stopped to start watching again as the old couple came into the scene. They’re like the old version of Barbie and Ken with the amount of pink they were wearing! My phone ringing broke my train of thought as I put down the knife. Why is Gwil trying to facetime me if he’s driving? I placed my phone against the mixing bowl and answered the call.

“Is that crab?” He asked as I held the crab's dead claw in front of the camera.

“Why are you holding a crabs claw? Oh my god does Gwil enjoy nipple clamps? Ben owes me money if this is true!” Joe chimed in as I smirked at the camera. When Gwil and Joe were in the Swiss Alps in that golf tournament, he facetimed me during the golf tournament with them driving around the golf course, while singing Material Girl. It Was a sight.

“No he isn’t into nipple clamps Joe.” I heard him groan as he aimed the phone over to Gwil who was trying to focus on driving, but kept looking out of the corner of his eye towards the phone.

“What’s for dinner?” He asked as I went back to cutting up the crab skin.

“For as many people you’re dragging up here, we’re having Partan Bree, Bangers and Mash, Mini Pies, and for dessert you’ll be eating Cranachan!” I smiled as I heard a bunch of moaning for food in his car.

“Gwil when were you going to tell us she was going to fatten us up!” Lucy giggled as I kept smiling at Gwil.

“You guys just left the airport?” I asked them as I finished cutting the skin.

“Yeah we should be up there in about four hours Maisy. Miss you biscuit.” He started to blush as everyone in the car was beginning to awww and chuckle.

“Miss you too marmalade . Don’t worry I won't embarrass you in front of your friends quite yet. Until you get up here at least. Now let me cook so I can feed everyone!” I told him as he looked away from the road for a second.

“Okay Maisy. Love you.”

“Love you to Gwil. Drive safely please!” I sent him a kiss but I heard a certain someone scoff.

“Wow you’re not gonna say goodbye to me?” The camera turned to Joe as he was making a very large pouty face.

“Sorry Joe. Goodbye Joe and please make sure my marmalade drives safety.”

“Much better. Bye Maisy!” Joe waved as he hung up the phone as I got back to it.

“Biscuit? Marmalade? Where the hell do you guys come up with this stuff?” She asked as I shook my head.

“Super long story. Sort of what happened when we went to that castle in Tain with biscuits and marmalade. Long but funny.” Bonnie nodded as I got a picture from Gwil. It was a self with everyone in the car. Bonnie looked over at Joe and smiled.

“That Joe guy is kind of cute.” Bonnie commented as she finished peeling all the potatoes.

“Maybe he’s single.” I commented as I placed the shells into the oven.

Bonnie brought out the last chair from the house as I flung the pure white embroidered tablecloth onto the long table. I want to make sure everyone has some space to eat and relax because it gets a little nipply here at nights, being up here on Orkney Island kind of comes with the package. But I love it up here!

I walked over to the small shed with my boxes full of packed fairy lights so I could hang around the tree branches. We dragged the old dining room table out of the house and put it under the tree. Luckily we’ve got a warm evening with our usual nice breeze.

“Hey Bonnie! Can you double check the pies for me?” I asked her as I grabbed one of the chairs to stand up on to hang the lights.

“Maisy! Do we want music playing in the background for tonight?” Reaching up to wrap the first strand on the closest branch.

“Ummm. Throw on my Harmonium record would ya?” Weird yes. But their music is just so relaxing and perfect for some really good cleaning and cooking music. For the record the movie took a really dark turn real quick and was so weird. But I would definitely watch it again because it went from oh shit to HOLY SHIT! In a span of twenty minutes!

“Reach you!” I had to balance myself on one foot as I got the strand on the tiny little branch.

“Gotcha!” I cheered as I kept going with the rest of the lights.

“MAISY!” She screamed from the kitchen as she hung up the next part of the strand.

“WHAT!”

“WHAT WINE DO WE WANT?” Wine? WINE!? YOU DON’T HAVE WINE WITH SAUSAGE AND MASH!

“Bonnie! You know better than that! We have all throughout the entire dinner! I got a few bottles in the cellar of that 90 Shilling down there. But just in case they want wine, grab a bottle of Gavi Di Gavi that I have down there, I think it’s been aged for a little while so it should go good with the Bartan Bree at least.” She turned around to go back inside, but then turned back around to stand in the doorway.

“Pies are almost done, the soup is hot and ready, also they’re here.” Okay good pies are ready AND GWILS HERE!? SHIT! I climbed down from the chair as I fixed my necklace and let my hair down from my clip.

I began walking towards the side gate but stopped at the back porch to flip on the backyard lights. The fairy lights I hung from the tree lit the table nicely along with the candles that are soon to be lit. I took one last glance down at myself to see that my floral dress was laying nicely, booties were tied and my necklace was fixed.

Alright. Here we go!

Opening the side gate as I heard all of them talking amongst each other as they were walking up to the front door. Gwil looked absolutely stunning in his dark green button up, black pants, oh and those dark brown loafers. A beautiful snack! They were walking up to the front door as I walked all the way around front.

“Well well well. Look at this merry band coming onto my porch.” They all turned towards me as Gwil smiled. He walked down from the front porch to scoop me up in his arms to do a quick spin. Then a quick peck as it’s rude to kiss multiple times in front of your guest.

“And these are for you?” He stuck a small bouquet of lilies and lavenders.

“Thank you biscuit.” One quick peck as he placed his arm around my shoulder as we began walking towards the crowd.

“Those who haven’t had the chance to meet her. This is Maisy Kerr. You already know Joe of course.” I smiled as Joe walked over to give me a quick hug.

“I know I should be all nice and not rude, but where is your bathroom?” He was trying not to do a pee dance as I also tried not to laugh.

“Upstairs, second door on the left.”

“Oh my god thank you!” He rushed inside as I motioned for everyone else to follow inside. Gwil stopped for a moment to sneak in a few more kisses which made me giggle.

“I’ve missed you so much Maisy! I hope you don’t mind, after I drive them back down to the airport if I stay with you for a few days? London and Bristol have gotten a little old without you and this place is just relaxing.” Not being sarcastic at all, but I love it when he just comes up and stays.

“You can literally come over whenever you feel like honey. We’ll talk about it after dinner, and have to go meet everyone.” I placed a soft peck on his cheek then walked past him, but then gave his butt a little slap. God I love that tooshie.

Everyone was standing around the hallway as we walked in then shutting the door.

“Shoes on our off?” One of them asked as I locked the door.

“Either or. We’ll be eating outside this evening and having a bonfire, so I would leave them on.” How can you not have an outdoor dinner without a bonfire. Wouldn’t make much sense if we didn’t have one.

“Maisy this is a lovely home. I’m Lucy by the way.” Oh my god she’s an adorable woman holy crap!

“Lovely to meet you Lucy and thank you. Has been with my family for generations.” Everyone made it outside as Bonnie was tossing a bunch of kindling wood into the fire pit.

“Aye welcome! The name Bonnie! Hi Gwil!” She waved as Gwil waved back.

“Please make yourself comfortable and I’ll start bringing out the food in a few moments.” I turned back into the house as Bonnie scurried over to help me. Which then Gwil decided to come inside and join us.

“How have ya been Gwil.” She got into the fridge to pull out a few bottles of the yale and wine.

“Oh fine Bonnie. Just been busy with work.” He told her as I gave the bisque one last stir as I heard Joe coming down the stairs. He stopped in the doorway to look at Bonnie for a quick second.

“Bonnie this is Joe Mazzello. Joe, this is Bonnie Geddes.” They approached each other and shook each other's hand.

“Mind giving me a hand Gwil.” I pointed to where the bowls were as he began pulling them out.

“Bonnie, would you mind taking the wine and ale outside. Also light the candles please?” Bonnie snapped away from Joe as she started to take them outside. Joe of course helped her due to the fact that he was already hooked on her.

“Well that was quick.” He commented as we both high fived each other. I began pouring the bisque into the bowl as he took the ones with the full ones outside.

I grabbed the last two bowls as everyone was sitting already and opened the wine and ale. There were two empty chairs that sat across from Bonnie and Joe, Ben was sitting next to her and his girlfriend. Allen sat on the end of the table with his wife on his left, then Rami sitting next to his wife, and Lucy sitting by the empty chair.

I placed Gwils and bowls at the table. He grabbed his from my hand as I sat down in my chair. Pulling my chair in as everyone was continuing to talk.

“Ben, that's nasty.” Lucy told Ben as he was finishing his cigarette.

“Just a hobby Lucy. I don’t do it every day, just every other other day.” He put out the cigarette as he wrapped his arm around his lady friend.

“Ah Maisy this is Ben and his gal pal Olivia Cooke.” She smiled as I waved over to her.

“Oh and that’s Allen and his wife Jessica. And of course Rami and Lucy down at the end.”

“Please dig in everyone.” I stood up as I began unscrewing the cork off the wine bottle. It’s a little stuck! Crap!

“Gwil hold the bottle.” I asked him as he held the base of the bottle as I tried to pull the cork off.

“It’s not wanting to come out!” I laughed as I kept trying to pull. I finally got it to pop and the cork flew across the lawn.

“Perfect.”

“So tell me Maisy. What exactly do you do?” Rami asked as I began filling up my glass.

“I own the Wetdrumstick Pub here on Finstown and then a pub called Misty Maid in Kirkwall. Well to be fair it’s been in my family for the longest of times, now I just took them over until the next person comes along.” I told Rami as I passed the bottle to Gwil then sitting back down.

“And I’m just gonna assume that you are all actors along with Gwil here?” Bonnie asked as I took a sip of my wine. They all laughed at each other as I shrugged to Bonnie.

“And what about you Bonnie?” Joe looked to Bonnie as she took a drink of her ale.

“A fisherman..er women. Following the dreams of a Scottslady.” She laughed as Joe nodded his head.

“Maisy this bisque is delicious! What recipe is this?” Jessica asked as I put down my spoon.

“I’ll have to find it somewhere or write it down for ya.”

“Does this have milk in it?”” Joe asked as I nodded. He leaned back in his chair as Bonnie looked at him in confusion.

“Allergic to dairy?” Bonnie asked him as they began their conversation. I turned to Gwil as he had my arm wrapped around my chair.

“You shaved? Why?” I just realized he didn’t have that gorgeous stubble. Not that he doesn’t look handsome without it cause my god. But it’s always good to add a little extra garlic powder to your spaghetti sauce.

“It was for the show because apparently Russian men didn’t have facial hair besides the really crazy ones.” Fair enough.

“Hey listen since you’re staying here for a few days. Would you mind if we went into Thurso and stopped by my favorite bakery? I’ve been craving some of Mr. Monks Bahulu?”

“Of course. Not checking into the pubs?”

“I will before we head into Thurso. Only if you don’t mind...biscuit.” He grabbed my right hand to give it a soft kiss.

“Not at all. Anytime with you is perfect.” We chowed down on the bisque then onto the sausage and mash, then the mini pies. Everyone was reminiscing on old jobs, catching up, and even future productions. I think it’s pretty cool that Rami is playing a Bond villain in the next big Bond movie. Is there a new bond or no? Or is it that one dude, I haven’t been to the movies in a while so I’m not sure whose who anymore.

“Who's ready for dessert. And does anyone want coffee or tea?” I think I officially stuffed their faces and stomachs nicely.

“Coffee for me Lucy?” Rami asked as she took a sip of her wine.

“Coffee please.”

“Two coffees.” Allen added as I looked over at Bonnie and Joe.

“So probably just a bunch of coffee then.” They were off in their own world anyhow.

Gwil and I walked inside the house as I reached into the fridge to pull out the dessert. He looked underneath the foil as I slid over and hid it from him.

“Help me with the coffee and you’ll get a nice slice for yourself.” I told him as I grabbed my shredded coffee beans to start making the coffee. Gwil snuck up behind me as he wrapped himself around the back of me. His lips began pecking the side of my neck as I began giggling a little bit.

“Gwil...hehe..Stop. You’re distracting me.” His lips stopped traveling along my neck as I spun around to face him. A large smile was on his face as I placed my hands on his cheeks, then squishing them together.

“You come up here so much you might as well just move in.” I told him with his cheeks still pushed together. He mumbled something as I let go to work on the coffee. I should have enough mugs for everyone, should probably pop onto Etsy and get some more if I can.

“So is that a no?” Ten cups of coffee? That should do it.

“What’s a no? Did you not want coffee cause I have plenty of tea.” I began filling the coffee pot with the hot water as

“What if I moved in here with you? I know it would be a hassle for work at first and I would be in London or a few days out of the week. But what if I did move in with you?” The hot water began spilling over the pot as I almost dropped it in the sink. Move in? Wait what? What? WHAT!? Move in? Who on earth would want to move in with me? I live so far up north! It’s a super damp winter! No one wants to live in a super damp winter!

“I’ll take your silence as a no. Too soon I guess.” Well it’s a super damp winter and I’m only available in certain times because I have two pubs to run and barely have the time to see him or anything. Wait he’s an actor! We hardly see each other in the first place because he’s busy traveling the world already!

“I’ll get a key made for ya as soon as I..Gwil?” When I turned around, he was already outside with the dessert with him. Ah crap! I walked out into the doorway as everyone was digging into the dessert. His head popped up with a little disappointment as I shot him a smile. Should be able to get it made in a few days or so, with him staying there it should be rather easy to give him a copy of the key. Not that I ever lock my door because everyone knows not to come on my property.

“Coffee will be out in just a few moments everyone.”

I think living with him would be rather fun.

Plant growing from seeds for urban witches

Day 2/333

I’m gonna start this off with a warning that I am just a baby green witch with a little green thumb. This is my first year growing plants from seed all by myself.

Here is what I did to get started and also *try* to be cost friendly.

1. I looked at what plant hardiness zone I’m located in. This will let you know what plants you can and can’t grow as well as when times to plant and harvest. (this was a little heart breaking for me. I’m somewhere awkwardly between zone 4 and 3 but probably leaning towards 3).

2. I look at what plants grow well in containers. This was also pretty heart breaking, but ultimately you want what will make your plants thrive. Herbs: How to grow, use. and enjoy herbs from your own garden by Publications International, Ltd. is a book that I love to use, but always refer to your instructions on your seed packet or the guide that your seed vendor gives you.

Here are some herbs suited for container growth:

Aloe, Basil, Calendula, Catnip, Cayenne Pepper, Chives, Geranium, Ginger, Horsetail, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Marjoram, Oregano, Nastutium, Parsley, Peppermint, Rosemary, Rue, Sage, Summer Savory, Spearmint, Thyme.

Here are all of the other ones I’ve personally reasearched if they can container grow & I currently am growing. (this includes some flowers).

St. John’s Wort, Hyssop, Wormwood, Feverfew, Borage, Rue, Comfrey, Stinging Nettle, Dandelions, Milk Thistle, Morning Glories (pink variation), Morning Glories (blue variation), Mugwort, Shepherd’s Purse, Purple Basil, Echinacea, Horehound, Black Petunas, Chives, Plaintains, Sweet Peppers, Elderberries, pennyroyal, red clovers and sunflowers. (I haven’t planted the red clover or sunflowers cause I gotta wait till May).

Elderberries are typical shrubs--I got these seeds for free from my vendor and their seed life span is only a year so I’m growing them for family and friends that can have them transplanted in yards.

A lot of these plants can have deep roots, and so I understand that deep containers will be needed. I understand that $$$ is going to hurt a bit there.

3. Buying Seeds. Check MULTIPLE local stores and online to find the best prices and type of seed that I wanted. This part is fun, but I ended up with 29 different plants. Yeah I bit off more than I can chew, but I’m out of a job until further notice so I have time. :)

I ended up paying probably...60 dollars on seeds. Obviously, you could always start out with 3 or 4 plants. That would maybe be 10 dollars.

4. Containers, soil and storage. I could only dream for a proper seedling growing indoor greenhouse equippe with lights, but i’m not about dropping 200-400 dollars on that am I. I already owned this shoe rack (hence why one row is missing). But, i did actually order another rack because my cats are messing with the bottom 3 rows heavily.

I ordered the Mainstays 10_tier Narrow Shoe Rack off of walmart. It is only available in stores or online for about 25 dollars.

For the containers I bought Seedling Starter Trays, 720 Cells: (120 Trays; 6-Cells Per Tray), Plus 5 Plant Labels off of amazon.

I also bought some labels, because with this many seeds...yeah labels are good.

For soil, I used Jiffy Natural and Organic Seedling Starter Soil though a few of my plants did require more Peat moss, which I bought at a local nursery. I’m growing some edible herbs, flowers, and veggies so i wanted something well rounded and not geared towards one thing specific. All of the containers you see used two 12 Qt sized bags for 5 dollars each.

5. Lighting. This one was a lesson learner for me. So, I live in nowhere South Dakota and we have had only 4 days full sun in 4 weeks. Yup. Seedlings need 8-12 hours of full sun to grow properly. I’ve had to replant a few trays because they got pale, thin, and limped over and died overnight from lack of light. I bit the bullet and knew I was going all in this year and bought some full spectrum plant lights from amazon. There are soooo many options, I would pick ones that work best for you. I bought a total of two and they cost 35 dollars each. Yikes.

Increasing the lighting has made all the difference for many of the seeds. A lot of them require the seeds to be lightly scattered on the surface because they germinate with the sunlight.

6. Planting your seeds. This was the hardest for me to do tbh. I wasn’t sure how compact the soil should be, how wet, etc. I also had some plants that required more steps before planting so take note of that! For example, morning glories need either a nick to the shell or to be soaked overnight before planting because of how hard the seed coat is. My comfrey was planted in cells, and put in a ziploc bag for 1 month to stratify. Stratification is when the plants need a period of coldness to emulate winter to then germinate. I also had to do this with mugwort and elderberry.

Date to Plant by: Always read how many weeks before your regions last frost you can plant the seeds. I made a chart with the plants and the dates they should be planted. Sometimes they can be 3-4 weeks before last frost or 6-8. My regions last frost is May 1st at the latest.

Seed Depth: Pay attention to the depth of the seeds as well. Some required light soil and some require 1/2 inch and some just require to be loosely scattered.

Number of seeds per cell: Now the spacing and # of seeds per cell is still something I need to work on. Most instructions for seed packets tell you spacing for out doors or when the seedlings get big enough and need to be separated. They also don’t always tell you the rate of germination. A long time ago when i started planting seeds, I would either only place 1 seed per cell or a shite ton. Now if you do 1 seed, and the germination rate is 75%, there is a chance it may not survive. If you do 10 seeds per cell, the plants will have spacing issues and some may die or it will be a pain to separate later. I did 3-4 seeds per cell depending on the average germination rate of the seeds. My morning glories had a really high rate so I did 2 seeds for cell.

Soil tightness???: Early on, I used to press the soil in the containers and leave little to no air in the soil (oops). Now, how I prep my soil. I will pour the soil into a large bowl or container and pour in some water to moisten it but not soak it. I will stir it to break the large chunks apart with my hands and just pour them into each cell. Then I will take the container and tap it against the grow so that the soil will compact itself together, but it leaves space for air. Repeat.

Watering: I personally duel wield two spray bottles of water and go ham over the cells, but it leaves so much pain in my wrists. I don’t use a watering can because it can mispalce your lightly scattered seeds or drown your really small seedlings. I even tried watering bottom up. That’s when I would dip the container in a bowl of water or even my tub (haha don’t do that srsly) and the water would come up from the bottom to water the roots. This was a pain in the booty and made a mess for me... if it was outdoors...sure. I will just spray them twice a day heavily.

BAB Lesson #2: Using Dried Herbs

So now that we can dry the herbs, how do we go about using them? Yes, you can keep them hanging if you like, they do make beautiful decorations. But what else? Well, if you like them looking just as they are, you can hang them and use them for their natural spiritual properties. Some like to create protection bundles to hang above their doorway, or a fertility bundle to hang above the bed when trying to conceive.

I prefer to use my dried herbs this way, putting them in sachets, or burning them (those that can be safely burned).

Each herb has different properties.

Here they are listed alphabetically:

Agrimony – ancient herb of healing, restoration, and benevolent protection

Alfalfa – good fortune, money magick, healing and cleansing infusions

Angelica – warding and banishing, angelic magick, summoning strength

Astragalus - vital energy, protection (shielding), promoting health, mental clarity, concentration

Basil - blessings, love, money, and happiness

Bay Leaf – confers wisdom, strength, and visions, sacred herb of Apollo

Bearberry – psychic awareness, dreams, courage, smudging and offerings

Birch Bark – new beginnings, psychic protection, strength, devotion, the Goddess

Blessed Thistle – consecration, protection, healing and cleansing by fire

Blue Sage – smudging, meditation, relaxation, ancestral wisdom, peace

A good protection bundle would be: White sage, Rosemary and Juniper berry. If your protection bundle is in a small bag (or sachets) you could add fennel seeds as well.

When creating bundles or satchels some like to add crystals that have similar properties. What’s nice about crystals is you can also charge them (charging crystals will be covered in the next lesson). These are two of the more simple ways to use dried herbs, there are many others.

Search engines are your best friends when it comes to this stuff.

But all-in-all, a lot of it is very intuitive.

Most important of all, enjoy yourself. There’s no point to doing this if you find it tedious, as this energy will rub off onto all that you create.

Rue Character Introduction

ENGLISH:

It is Rue’s turn! A really interesting and unique character for a lot of reasons, and also quite the stud don’t you think?

Rue is an apathetic and aloof character, with little to none concern for anyone or anything. His deadpan expression together with his scarcity with words makes him pretty much unapproachable, and his brutal honesty doesn’t help much either, making it hard to know what are his intentions or motives.

All this together with his usual laziness makes obvious how he doesn’t really care about what the rest think about him, or his own reputation for that matter, something that anybody would think about in a situation where your life's on the line. Now, why would Rue act like that? You don’t know, and dealing with him always feel like a pain so it’s not like you are looking to find out.

Rue design follows this elegant classic line the game is based on but with a few lazy details like his untucked shirt, the loose tie and the rolled up sleeves. The main idea was to show someone who does the minimum amount of effort to get away, reflecting his personality on his clothes while at the same time giving him this unconcerned and cool aura.

When you have a character as deadpan as him, being able to show as much as possible about him with just his gestures and clothes becomes essential, and in this particular situation I think Naguri managed to do a great job. Despite his lack of expressions you will enjoy his interactions, and maybe also get irritated by him... he tends to make people feel like that after all.

His flower is obviously the Rue. We took inspiration for his color palette from it too. This flower has some history as well as uses and meanings, so it was one of the flowers I was sure about using for one of the characters. Considering also that sharp look and even poisonous nature this is probably the flower that better fit the character of the entire story.

However it’s not like everything with Rue is “poisonous” all the time. Just like the flower also has a lot of positive uses, he’s also someone you can count on... sometimes. One example is his relationship of mutual respect with Thistle, the only one he doesn’t mind listening and even following some orders... although with questionable results.

I secretly ship them, gotta get that fujoshi audience on boat (jk jk... or not?)

And since we are talking about his features let’s go for his weakness: candy and sweets. You see despite his sharp and cold appearance he has a sweet tooth and makes sure to fulfill his daily sugar overdose (please kids, do not follow his ways). Making a character always serious and harsh can become boring, and I think these little details and obsessions help to make them feel a bit more human.

I would like to give the context for this scene but you will enjoy it more without it.

Funny enough, Rue ended becoming one of the most amusing and interesting characters despite not being my intention. I really enjoy his comedy segments and his reactions are usually golden. His personality grew on me and his particular nature made him perfect to create conflict and strange situations that I couldn’t simply leave undone. I need to keep the funniest parts secret though, don’t want to spoil the best of the game, but if you remember my kind of humor from One Thousand Lies I think you will enjoy his scenes. They are not so absurd though, but close enough so you get an idea!

Not everything about him is lazy however. He makes sure to train every single day (and it’s probably the only reason why he can keep that stud body despite the sweets), and before The Incident he was a detective, or at least that’s what the rest of the castle says.

Rosemary here explains it despite giving the wrong reason, but yeah he doesn’t really seem to do any resemblance to a good job. Or maybe he doesn’t really care much about trying to look the part either, who knows.

Rose expectations can be a bit too high too...

At the end Rue is a character that Cinque can’t really stand, and that’s kind of the point. In this alliance you guys have in the castle not everyone play a nice role, and Rue position in all of this is always questionable. He seems neutral, just doing the minimum to keep the castle alive and going, but it is hard to believe he doesn’t have plan. That together with his attitude however can ironically turn to make you feel reassured somehow. Because sometimes, in a world where your time and the survival is limited, enemies can feel more real and truthful than any other friends.

Rue story is about apathy, honesty, evil, discovery, support, and regrets. He can be quite the troublesome character, and having him as an ally or an enemy is something that doesn’t really feel clear at any moment. Writing his route would always make me feel confused, as I said, he grew over my own ideas, becoming his own character, and for that I have no doubts that he will do the same with you.

Es el turno de Rue. Un personaje único e interesante por muchas razones, además de ser todo un guaperas, ¿no te parece?

Rue es apático y distante, despreocupado por todo y por todos. Su falta de expresión facial unido a su parquedad en palabras le vuelven alguien a quien cuesta acercarse, y su honestidad sin reparos no ayuda mucho tampoco por lo que cuesta saber qué puede estar pensando o cuáles son sus intenciones.

Todo esto se une a su habitual actitud de vago redimido deja claro lo poco que se preocupa de lo que piensen de él o su misma reputación, algo a lo que cualquiera prestaría atención considerando la situación en la que os encontraréis, con vuestras propias vidas en juego. ¿Por qué Rue es así? No lo sabes, y tratar con él es un incordio por lo que tampoco te apetece intentar descubrirlo.

El diseño de Rue es clásico y elegante siguiendo la línea del resto del juego pero con unos cuantos detalles destacando su vagancia como la camisa por fuera, la corbata suelta, o con las mangas hacia atrás. La idea principal es mostrar con su propio diseño a alguien que hace el mínimo esfuerzo para salirse con la suya, dejando claro con su ropa su propia personalidad mientras que al mismo tiempo da ese aura despreocupada, fría y molona sobre sí mismo.

Cuando tienes a un personaje tan inexpresivo como él es importante ser capaz de dar la mayor cantidad de detalle a través de sus gestos y su aspecto, y eso es algo que creo que Naguri ha logrado con creces. A pesar de su falta de expresiones creo que disfrutarás de su compañía, aunque también te acabará sacando de tus casillas... es ese tipo de persona por desgracia.

Su flor en castellano se conoce como la “Ruda”, y como puedes ver su paleta de colores está basada en esta flor. La Ruda tiene mucha historia además de usos y significados, por lo que es una de esas flores de las que estaba seguro que tenía que utilizar para al menos uno de los personajes. Considerando además su aspecto afilado e incluso su naturaleza venenosa esta es probablemente la flor que mejor encaja con el personaje de toda la historia.

De todas manera no es que Rue sea venenoso todo el tiempo. Igual que la flor tiene muchos puntos positivos, Rue es alguien con quien puedes contar... a veces. Un ejemplo es su relación de mutuo respeto con Thistle, al único al que no le importa escuchar e incluso seguir órdenes... aunque los resultados no sean nunca los esperados.

Alerta fujoshi, ya os podéis ir preparando para zarpar... (es bromis... ¿o no?)

Y ya que estamos hablando de puntos positivos vamos a ir a por su debilidad: las gominolas y los dulces. A pesar de su aspecto frío y distante Rue tiene una pasión por el dulce y le preocupa mucho tomar su sobredosis de azúcar diaria (por favor niños, no sigáis su ejemplo). Hacer a un personaje como él siempre puede resultar aburrido si es demasiado serio, por eso creo que añadir estos pequeños detalles y obsesiones siempre ayudan a que se sienta un poco más humano.

Me gustaría dar el contexto de esta escena pero creo que es mejor así.

Curiosamente Rue se terminó convirtiendo en uno de los personajes más divertidos e interesantes aunque no fuera mi intención inicial. He disfrutado mucho con sus momentos de comedia y sus reacciones siempre merecen la pena. Su personalidad fue creciendo en mí y su naturaleza particular lo hizo perfecto para crear conflicto y situaciones extrañas que no podía dejar sin hacer. Es una pena que tenga que mantener los mejores momentos en secreto ya que no quiero arruinaros el juego, pero si recordáis el tipo de humor de One Thousand Lies creo disfrutaréis también de sus escenas. No es que sean tan absurdas pero se acercan lo suficiente para que te hagas una idea.

No todo sobre él tiene que ver con su vagancia sin embargo. Se asegura que entrena cada día (y es probablemente la única razón por la que puede mantener ese cuerpazo que se gasta apesar del azúcar), y antes del incidente trabajaba como detective, o al menos eso es lo que dicen el resto.

Rosemary aquí lo explica aunque sea por los motivos incorrectos, pero sí, Rue no es el tipo que parezca hacer un buen trabajo tampoco. O puede que realmente no te preocupe mucho de sus apariencias, quién sabe.

Las expectativas de Rose tampoco ayudan...

Al final Rue es un personaje que Cinque no soporta, y ese es el objetivo. En esta alianza que tenéis en el castillo no todo el mundo juega el papel de chico bueno, y la posición de Rue en todo esto siempre es complicada. En principio parece ser neutral, siempre haciendo lo mínimo para mantener el castillo vivo y funcionando. Considerando además su actitud es alguien que irónicamente puede llegar a resultar reconfortante, y es que en un mundo donde el tiempo es tan limitado, los enemigos se pueden sentir más auténticos y honestos que los amigos.

La historia de Rue es sobre la apatía, honestidad, maldad, descubrimiento, ayuda, y el arrepentimiento. Puede ser un personaje problemático, y te va a costar saber cuándo se trata de un aliado o un enemigo. Escribir su ruta hacía que yo mismo me sintiese confuso, pues como he dicho, el personaje creció por encima de mis propias ideas, convirtiéndose en su propio personaje, y no tengo ninguna duda de que a ti te pasará lo mismo.

ANGELIC BANISHING

Shout this Mantra: "Angels of Protection, Angels who clear Remove all spirits Who don't belong here!" Call upon your highest teacher, angel, or God to clear the spirit. To increase the potency of this spell, burn sage incense and white candles. Use a glass of water to collect negativity, then flush the water. Also, wear any jewelry that is sacred to you. Express power and strength, show no fear. While you meditate after the chant, know that the atmosphere around you has been cleared of all evil spirits.

SPELL TO TRAP AN EVIL SPIRIT (IN A JAR)

This traps an evil entity or evil spirits and prevents any harm being done. --Salt water - 1 part Sea salt to 8 parts of spring water. --1 dried Rose 13 Rose Thorns 1 Small Glass Jar + a tightly fitting lid Put the Rose Thorns into the jar one at a time and as you do this and drop one in, chant the following words each time: "Thou Demon presence. Be no more!" Crush up the Thorns in the jar and then crush up the Rose petals and add them to the jar, slowly add the salt water. Keep the jar open overnight. The next morning before the sunrise close the lid. All the evil should now be trapped inside the jar. Everyone knows someone who is or has been depressed or really stressed out so make time in your magical + social life for them. Give them a helping hand by writing this on paper and then burning it to release the magic: Magic moon burning bright, Let mine will be done this night. Answer now my Pagan Spell, Let all with ______ now be well.

A SPELL TO SEE SPIRITS

To see spirits, old European grimoires recommend mixing together aloe, pepper, musk, Vervain, and saffron and burning this in a cemetery. You can adapt this for other locations (like those in which the spirit lived) by adding a bit of sweet grass or tobacco to a specially prepared incense. Create the incense on the anniversary of the death of the individual you wish to contact. This is then burned at 11 am, in the safety of a magic circle that also holds symbolic items to connect you to the entity. An incantation to encourage the spirit's presence is "Guardians of the Spirit realm, hear and guide my plea. When the witching hour rings true, bring my friend (loved one, etc.) ____ to me. Other souls who hear my call are not welcome in this place. Only the one known as _____ may enter sacred space."

Repeat the request three times, twenty minutes apart, then wait quietly for indications of a presence. Signs include the scent of flowers or a favored cologne, a cool wind, movement of curtains, and candles going out or twitching erratically. Once you feel sure the spirit is with you, do not make it tarry overly long. Take care of your business, say farewell, and thank the guardians for their assistance.

ASH CROSSES

The Chorti, who are the descendants of the Maya, would make crosses out of ashes to protect from evil spirits. Needed: Wood ashes Moon Phase: Use whenever protection is needed. Whenever danger is felt, crops need to be protected, or woods need protection from hunters and trespassers, gather cold wood ashes and use the ashes to make equal armed crosses on the ground, sidewalk, or porch. Chant:

"Ashes to ashes. I call on the Four. Protect us and hinder those Who bring harm to our door." or "Four The more Protection to score Tight is the door."

BANISHING AND CLEANSING RITUAL

Point your Athame at the sky, and then at the earth. Then pointing Athame horizontally either spin 360 or walk around the perimeter with the Athame held out in a threatening manner. Spirits of evil, Unfriendly beings Unwanted guests, Be gone! Leave us leave this place, leave this Circle, that the Goddess and the God may enter. Go, or be cast into the outer darkness! Go, or be drowned in the watery abyss! Go, or be burned in the flames! Go, of be torn by the whirlwind! By the power of the Mother and the Horned One We banish you! We banish you! We banish you! Sprinkle the perimeter with salt and water.

ENLIGHTMENT

Good to do before other in-depth spells. This spell requires two blue candles and one candle to portray yourself, and sandalwood oil. Anoint candles with the oil and visualize yourself being translike state. Place blue candles on either side of the chosen candle, light the blue candles and say unto thyself:

-Spirit guides/ higher self hear my plea -Come now and converse with me -Walk me and guide me through this veil trance, I ask of you

Now sit in a comfortable position and become aware of your breathing patterns. Inhale deeply, exhale deeply, listen to rhythmic body and breathing motions. Become relaxed and close your eyes. Focus on your third eye and visualize red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue, indigo, purple, and white in order. Hold each color for a count of five. Watch as it fades into each color, still focusing on third eye. Watch your breath and see your chest rise and fall with air (eyes still closed) and watch your breath as it as it changes into waves.

Now visualize a door on water. Visualize yourself go in and visit with your spirit guide and ask questions. Trust the answers you receive. Walk out the door, watch the waves turn back into breathing patterns. Now open your eyes and say upon yourself:

-I return to earth again -Thank you spirit self and friends

Then blow out the candles in reverse order, first your chosen candle and then the blue candles.

SPIRIT GUIDE CONTACT SPELL

To meet your spirit guide: Items needed: Alter Candle Day candle (whichever color for the day you be will doing your spell) (Monday-white Tuesday-red Wednesday-purple Thursday-blue Friday-green Saturday-black Sunday-yellow) Offertory Candles 3 Violet candles 3 White candles Tools: Athame to inscribe candles Props: Crystal ball or clear glass of water Incense: anise, cardamon, and coriander Oil: jasmine, lemon, rose, and sandalwood Bathing Herbs: cinnamon, frankincense, myrrh, and sandalwood Timing: Best done during the Mercury hour of the day, although any hour should work. Any moon phase is appropriate.

Preparation: Breathe deeply and build a ball of protective light around you. While soaking in your ritual bath, meditate on the whole ritual: the steps you will take and what you wish to say to your spirit guide when you make contact.

Ritual: Enter the circle in the Hour of Mercury. Light the incense. With the oil, dress the Altar Candle and the Day Candle while concentrating on the purpose of the ritual. Light your Altar candle and your Day candle and state your intent: "I am here to make contact with my Spirit Guide, and to acknowledge him or her" With your Athame, inscribe Violet Candle #1 with the word "Spirit". Dress it with oil.

Light the Violet candle #1, direct your energies into it, and say: "Here do I light the first Lamp of Spirit. May its light reach out across the barriers from this world to the next. May it make contact with that World of Spirit into which we will eventually enter"

Take your censer or incense wand and swing in around censing the whole area around the altar, while rhythmically repeating the word "Merge" and building up energy to focus. Replace the censer and pick up Violet candle #2. Inscribe it with the word "Spirit" and dress it with the oil. Put it back on the altar, light it, direct your energy into it, and say:

"Here do I light the second Lamp of Spirit. May it's light also reach out across the barriers from this world to the next. May it make contact with that World of Spirit and help spread the light, illuminating the passageway between our worlds."

Again, take the censer or incense wand and cense the entire area around the altar while chanting the word "Merge" Build up your energy to focus. Take violet candle #3, inscribe with the word "Spirit", dress with oil, charge with your energy, light it and say:

"Here do I light the third Lamp of Spirit. May its light also reach out across the barriers from this world to the next. May the light from these three lamps blend and grow, dispelling all darkness and lighting the way that my Spirit Guide may come to me and speak with me here today."

Inscribe the 3 white candles with the word "Truth" and anoint each candle with oil. Light the 3 white candles in order of 1, 2, 3, and say:

"Here do I build Truth. As these candles burn throughout this ritual, their power generates nothing but truth in all that transpires between this world and the next. Through these candles there is truth in all communications that come to me". Again, cense the entire altar area while chanting the word "Merge".

Replace the censer and continue chanting. Sit comfortably while chanting, and gaze into the crystal ball, or the clear glass of water. Continue chanting until you feel it is right to let the chant taper off.

Continue to quietly look into the crystal ball or glass, not trying to picture anything. Keep your mind blank, so whatever comes will appear will come in it's own free will. Gaze into the center of the crystal, there is no need to try not to blink. Look into the crystal and blink naturally. Try not to notice anything in your eripheral vision, just the center of the crystal.

Eventually a face or figure will appear. This may take a long time, or it may appear almost immediately. If it doesn't come at all within approximately 20 minutes, abandon this attempt, extinguish the candles in the order in which they were lit, leave the altar set up, and try this ritual again in three days. You should have results within a month at most.

When a figure does appear, ask if he/she is your Spirit Guide. You will hear an answer. You may not hear it out loud, or even see the figures lips move, but you will be aware of the answer. This is how most of your conversation will proceed. You will ask your questions mentally (or out loud) and the answers will be clear inside your mind.

Ask if you have more than one spirit guide. If yes, ask them to appear also. You may ask anything you wish to know, but it is suggested to establish a connection first where your Spirit Guide may appear to you at any time, or at specific times, so that you can converse with other spirits through him/her. When you have finished speaking with your Guide, thank him/her, then sit for a moment with your eyes closed, meditating on all that you have learned. Extinguish the candles in reverse order to clear the circle.

RELEASING NEGATIVE BEINGS

You can make this ceremony as simple or as elaborate as you like. To perform this ceremony you will need a smudge stick, a candle, and lavender or some other pleasant scent. Start by calling on your protector. Once you feel its presence, say a simple prayer of protection, such as: Creator, Great Spirit, Universal Energy, I call upon your love and your protection. I call upon the beings of light and all those beings that help lost souls. See this being that has lost its way home. It believes it is of the dark; it has forgotten it is of the light.

Please surround it with your love and gently guide it back to the light so that it may heal. Please surround this place and all within it with your love and protection. I give thanks.

Light the candle and smudge stick. Thoroughly smudge the area and yourself and allow the smoke to clear the area of any negativity. Then stand in the center of the room and declare that only beings of light are allowed in your aura or dwelling place. Call upon beings of light to protect you and your location. Demand that all lower energy forces leave now and return to the light. Declare that this place is only for those who live in love and light. See yourself and the room filled with and surrounded by bright white light. Know you are safe and protected. Sprinkle lavender around the room. Make sure you protect yourself for a few days after you release the beings. One way to do this is to visualize your energy field and see it filled with white light.

Mentally seal it with white light and see flecks of green and pink light floating around your body. Do this several times a day for the next few days. You tend to be more open to negative beings once one has been removed, and this process will help seal up your energy field. If you again feel a negative presence, repeat the ceremony. The easiest thing to do is make sure you don't attract one in the first place. If you remember to call upon your protector and keep yourself surrounded by white light, they can't get near you.

TO CONJURE SPIRITS

Waxing Moon or Full Moon: Waning or New Moon - Two tall purple candles -Two tall green candles - A purple Amethyst Green Jade or Agate - in center of altar - Sandalwood & Lavender Incense Sandalwood & Willow Bark Incense -Spirit Candle - Witches' Bowl - a bowl or tray 13" or more in diameter, marked for divination. - Three casting stones

Cast a triple circle. Conjuring of Spirits is always done in hours of darkness, not necessary to be midnight, but preferred. After you have performed your primary ritual, cast the incense into your burner, Place the Spirit Candle into the center of the altar and say:

"Spirit of good will, I bid thee enter The Outer Circle. The Second Circle. The Inner Circle. I am protected by this Pentacle upon my breast. Which bears the name of (your Spirit Guide) I bid thee, Spirit, Reveal thy Earthly name! (turn slowly deosil as you speak)

Repeat this conjuration three times. Perform a nine card Tarot Divination for the Spirit's name, unless the Spirit replies in some other manner. Ask: Have you a message for me? Perform a Tarot Divination or use the Witches' Bowl to ask questions. Spirit, is it true that....? Deal gently with the friendly Spirits and they will lead you to the Greater Mysteries. During your questioning, observe the Spirit Candle. If it wavers or rises and falls, or flickers unevenly, use the Tarot to see if the Spirit has a message. You may ask 3 questions, after that you must ask: May I seek further guidance? Ask only 3 more questions. Bid the Spirit depart, saying: (Name), Good Spirit, Thou hast diligently answered my questions and I do thank thee. I hereby give thee license to depart. Depart, thrice - blessed Spirit, and be thou willing to return when next I conjure thee. By the sound of this bell (Use your Witch's Bell), do I bid thee leave. Depart, Depart. Depart!

SPELL TO RID YOUR HOME OF UNWANTED GHOST/SPIRIT

Begin by putting everything in its proper place. Clean your house to perfection, open the windows, and bless all your magical implements. Next, moving always to your left (counterclockwise, or wid-dershins as it is called in magical circles) anoint the doors, windows, and all openings of your home with a mixture of water (water), fennel (fire), oats (Earth), pine (air), and sage (wisdom). These represent all elements of the magic circle.

For a blend that is less bulky, place the herbs in hot water to steep, then strain and use only the aromatic tea. As you go, visualize bright light pouring from your hands into every area that houses shadows, saying,

"Where light dwells, all darkness flee; Spirit ghost go towards the light, for ye are dead and must move on and away from my family, this house and me. This home is mine, I will not fear, but my child is scared so I ask thee to go with our blessings and love into the light where those you love ever wait for you! Your presence now cannot be right or welcome here."

Follow the entire circuit of your home, repeating the words and procedure in every room. When finished, go outside if possible, making one full loop around the exterior. The leftover water can be refrigerated or frozen for future use. Finally, return inside and move clockwise through each room while burning either sage smudge stick or basil, dill, and marjoram. These herbs encourage blessings and joy. Invoke the protection of your personal God/dress on your sacred space of home. Then close the windows, leaving any spiritual energies outside. There is often feeling of lightness and joy as you have helped the ghost go to the next plane. Purpose of Spell - Communication with and understanding the purposes of a ghost or a spirit and asking them to leave if they disturb you.. Timing In-between times (noon, midnight, dusk, and dawn). Halloween. Seasons of late fall and winter. Moon in Libra. Eclipses. and dark moon. Day Wednesday.

MIND/HEART/SPIRIT HEALING RITUAL

To quiet a troubled mind, mend a broken heart, or heal a wounded spirit, you will need the following items: 1 DOVE FEATHER (preferably one that crosses your path by chance, but definitely one which has NOT been plucked, but has fallen naturally.) 2 BLUE CANDLES (for healing, tranquility, peace and forgiveness) LAVENDER BATH SALTS OR OIL (for love, peace, happiness, purification and protection) 1 CINNAMON STICK (OR CHIPS) (for spirituality, success, healing, power, love and protection) ALTAR BELL

On the night of a NEW moon, gather the items and place them on your altar (or, if you have the privacy, outside on a tree stump or other earth area). Take one blue candle and the lavender bath salts or oil and bathe in the lavender by the light of the blue candle, concentrating on that which requires healing.(If you cease bathing before the candle is completely burned out, do NOT extinguish the flame by blowing it out, but do extinguish it.) Once at your altar (or earth place), light the blue candle and recite the following:
