bf!sunarin who loves posting you in his instagram stories more than anything. he even made an instagram highlight on his profile dedicated to you. he posts you a lot on his stories to the point that his followers thought that his instagram account is a stan account about you. 

bf!sunarin who would always carry a hair tie with him in case you needed it. he would even help you tie your hair if you wanted to. you want a simple ponytail or a braided updo? he can nail both. thank his skills for he got those after being his little sister’s personal hairstylist when they were younger. 

bf!sunarin who is a great photographer who loves and enjoys taking candid pictures of you. he even made a folder dedicated to candid pictures of you. sometimes he would even be such a tease and make a meme out of your candid pictures before sending it to you.

i’m not really on twitter so i don’t entirely get it but going off of what you’ve said for the sake of an interesting conversation here (which you can choose to engage in or not! i am by no means trying to harass my fav spencer reid writer and i understand not everybody likes to debate for fun and it can come off as aggressive but im actually just a loser and a nerd😁), i still think whether or not you have even heard of the odyssey is inextricably a matter of cultural context informed by your socioeconomic status and location, whether that be in america or abroad. i ALSO acknowledge media literacy and literacy in general are at an appalling all time low. it is generational and socially reinforced so kids just aren’t socialized to pay attention in school or be interested in what they learn which sucks and is so hard to watch like these kids are gonna be impossible to have a conversation with one day because the culture and the system are failinggggg them soooo hard

also though a lot of people just don’t engage in media to the level that they’d realize it’s a retelling of or incorporates themes from classic literature, but beyond that, it would require a familiarity with classic literature that is just not ubiquitous!! lots of people who’ve read the book don’t realize that a court of thorns and roses is a retelling of beauty and the beast, and even fewer people know that beauty and the beast is a retelling of eros and psyche. it all depends on how much quality education is available to you. so i guess in that sense it sort of is a privilege, because culturally pervasive or not, even the most bare bones knowledge of classic literature requires an education and the ability to actually engage with your education. but also like i said these kids are just NAWT locked into their schooling at all i dont know what it is in the zeitgeist that encourages the active dismissal of education among students. maybe they’re all just pessimists and disillusioned by the world they’ve been born into so nothing matters to them or maybe im projecting

Hi. I've discovered your channel like, yesterday and already watched several of the recent videos (quality productions by the way!) and am coming here to thank you for the D&D video.

I left a longass appreciation comment on the video itself but i digress. I'm a 4e player and administrate a modest queer community of players who also play it. I was always well aware of the hateful DNA of the game, but the philosophy you brought forth during the video really touched me, and really got me thinking about the dissonance between my values and the game's even with all the caviats.

I've always thought that there would be no good in doing what so many others did and 'remaking' the game in a stripped down version, because it's not just the crunchy, complex mechanics that I love, but the messy bullshit of unbalanced content in droves that make up the game.

But, with the points you laid out, I've regain hope. Me and my friends have written TONS of homebrew for our community, and with arguably better quality than most of the official content (i say this with as much honest humility such a statement can have), so I think we've proven that we have the ability to write anything we set our minds to. Making a game that keeps the mechanics we love without that hate in the veins is a very noble goal I think we should strive to accomplish. You can't copyright board game mechanics, and if the game we make just happens to be compatible with washed up major TTRPG games, that's pure coincidence! 😁

Oh hey I actually think I recognize you from my comments! anyway the compliments here are much appreciated and reading all of this was honestly really cool! I actually started playing DND as a lil baby with 4th edition and still have a rather big soft spot for it (I also think it's better than 5th edition but that's like a nuclear take for some lmao) so to see it's spirit live on in such a cool and kind way actually makes me super happy even if it just stays within your group! I think the best thing we can do with the increasingly impending implosion of DND as a brand is to take the pieces and good ideas and prune a new tree to sit under.

My old Buffy fanvid!

I was just looking over the very few videos I have posted on YouTube and I found this from 12 years ago! I thought it had been copyright struck and removed, but I'm glad it's still up there as I don't have my own copy any longer, I lost it when my old laptop died.

This is the only fan vid I've ever made. I've had ideas for others (many recently for Good Omens related ones!) but then I remember what a pain in the arse this was and leave it to others to do them 😁

I'm old enough to have watched and been obsessed by Buffy way back when it was first on TV (I was actually born the same year Buffy was in the show, 1981), but when I made this I'd just re-watched all 7 series in full for the first time since my teens and for a while my fixation returned in full force.

Spike was always my favourite character, and this song by My Dying Bride which I was listening to a lot at the time seemed to fit with his story arc really well (lyrics below the video).

Apologies for the poor quality compared with a lot of edits you see today, all clips were ripped from my DVD collection so they're pretty far from being high definition! Still, I'm quite proud of it, I worked really hard to time all the cuts with the music and fit the lyrics around the clips I chose.

Voiceplay Visuals: Sleeping In The Cold Below

If I had a nickel for every time Voiceplay did a song from a videogame, featuring Omar Cardona and arranged by Geoff... (Well, this was actually a co-arrangement between Geoff and Rob Dietz, but my point still stands! 😝)

Voiceplay's video for Sleeping In The Cold Below was uploaded on the 17th of February, 2024 (which for me typing this, was yesterday), and the song comes from an "action role-playing third-person shooter multiplayer online game" called Warframe, originally released in 2013. I know buggerall about the game, and have never heard the original song before, but as we should all know by now, that doesn't matter when it comes to Voiceplay! I'm very excited to break this one down, so let's get into it!

Very cool mask things! (But also I'm glad they were only for the opening (and closing) shots)

Apparently this was filmed at some place called Optiview 360, and the name checks out tbh, because those are some very cool wall and floor effects, which I will be pointing out multiple times in this post!

(Also very niche little fun fact: the guys are in the exact same lineup order as they were for Dream On and Whiskey In The Jar: Geoff-Eli-Omar-Cesar-Layne!)

The contact lenses were definitely a great touch for this video, I must say

Cesar is wearing two different coloured contact lenses, because apparently he (and Omar too) couldn't decide which colour to go with (valid), and in fact Cesar and Omar are wearing one each of two pairs! (So basically their contact lenses match up)

Geoff's hair looks greyer than usual here, and I can't for the life of me figure out whether it was coloured grey for the video, or if it's just the lighting, or if this is more of his natural colour nowadays. I'm certainly not complaining though, and I'll just have to wait for more videos from him and Voiceplay this year to hopefully figure it out!

Also, even though I love his hazel eyes, whether you can actually see a tinge of green in them or whether they just look a dark-chocolate-brown colour, I'm not gonna lie, the contacts he's wearing here are really doing things for me 👀👌

(And his outfit in this video seems to fit *really well* on him and he looks fantastic in it okay bye)

This is almost pure-white lighting, and I reckon this is his natural hair colour at the current moment. You can definitely see his grey-white streak here, and his hair does still have a notable bit of brown to it, but it's almost definitely getting greyer (embrace it! Love it! I know I sure do!)

I loved this song and video so much I rewatched it almost immediately after my first watch, and then that night, I went and rewatched it again two more times! And honestly I'd have to say that out of all the videogame song covers Voiceplay has done (Enemy, Halo Theme, Dragonborn Comes, etc), this is 100% my favourite! Everything about this cover and video is so absolutely top-notch high quality, and the song absolutely slaps! Well done Voiceplay, you've knocked it out of the park again! Honestly the fact that they're just an independent acapella group on YouTube blows my mind sometimes.

So I'm finally up-to-date on all the full-length Voiceplay videos that I wanted to talk about, although by the time you're reading this, there will probably be a brand new Voiceplay video (edit from future me: there's not),But for now? "My stream looks bad."

This is a pretty common issue that creators face and it all stems from one common misconception: 1080p doesn't mean quality.

The above video is in fact 1080p, but as you can see there's definitely something wrong about it. Here's that exact same freezeframe but at 480p:

So what's happening here? Bitrates.

A Crash Course Through Video Compression

Computer video has historically been a really hard problem to solve. Computers used to be slow (Like, really slow). Computer scientists (read: nerds) figured out that the human eye is bad and have developed techniques that abuse this fact.

Dithering tricks your eye into "seeing" more colors than are actually present. Here's a monotone (two colors!) that appears to also have shades of grey even though there aren't any:

Pretty cool, eh? By using clever placement of the black dots an entire range of grays emerge even though there aren't any.

You can even throw out little bits of detail to save space and the eye will be none the wiser. These are the core principles behind video compression.

Why do we even need to compress video anyways?

The short answer: internet speeds still aren't fast enough. The long answer: distribution costs.

If you are a video site, such as Twitch or YouTube, it is in your best interests to save as much money as possible for every live stream. So, every platform places limits on bitrate.

Okay, get to the point already. What is bitrate and how do I get my stream to look good?

Video compression usually has two modes: constant bitrate (CBR), and variable bitrate (VBR).

For regular video recordings it's usually recommended you use variable bitrate (note that CRF/CQ is a form of variable bitrate). This allows you to save space where you can but increase usage where it's necessary to help maintain visual quality.

But for live-streaming you use constant bitrate (the reason is due to how networks actually operate and how celluar/mobile networks handle streaming. It's complicated). With CBR, you tell the encoder that you want the result to always be at X bits per second regardless of the resulting quality (good or bad). So that means that during moments of low movement (in game, in an IRL setting, or even on your desktop) the encoder doesn't have to work nearly as hard to fit the current frame into the allotted rate. During high movement moments the encoder has to work extra hard to find those visual shortcuts — such as dithering, detail removal, or macroblocks (shudders) — to keep everything within bounds.

Obviously, removing detail will hurt the quality of an image. And doing that repeatedly will result in that reduced image quality you saw in the first 1080p screenshot. For that screenshot, I encoded the video at 500kbps, which is obviously way too low (I did that for for clickbait). For the 480p screenshot I encoded it using a VBR technique called Constant Quality. The size difference between those two files paints a better picture: the 480p version is 12x larger than the 1080p version despite 1080p having 8x as many pixels as 480p.

Alright, so what do you recommend I use?

Well factors like resolution, framerate, your internet, and your computer's hardware all play a role in determining what's best for you.

Here's a table bitrates for resolution and framerate.

Just note that your internet upload speed needs to be large enough for that bitrate AND whatever else you may use the internet for at the same time.

for the relationships part, idk if this is bad to say, but i mostly come on here to develop things between two muses rather than go through any sort of plot. it’s counterintuitive maybe because plot makes a large part of character relationships too but ,,,,, waaah, i want the cute domestic moments okay. i want the tenderness, the hurt, & the smiles from two muses just interacting I Am Simple(tm)

Hi anon, this is one of the funniest and sweetest asks I've gotten in a while, thank you 😁

I'm still a beginner crocheter (picked it up for the first time last year during lockdown), so most of my projects aren't super ambitious (yet). Here are a few things I'm currently working on 😊 (with low quality pictures because my phone camera sucks haha 😅)

If the post you saw is from 3 months ago, it's probably about my scrap yarn blanket that I decided to start in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep?

This is what it looks like right now and it's going to be absolutely massive when it's finished (1.5m × 2.2m I think?). Anyway, it's done in Half Double Crochets and with two strands of yarn together - white as the base and then whatever leftovers I've got. Worked with a 9mm hook. It's super simple and mindless work but a great thing to work on while watching a movie - or Taskmaster 😄

I'm also currently working on some fantail shell stitch fingerless gloves, following this tutorial, which is a lot easier than I first thought.

All done with the same yarn, but completely different results. I kind of enjoy the mix and match aesthetic - let's hope my sister, who I'm making the second pair for, agrees 😅

The third project - which is kind of on the backburner right now - is actually one of my favourite things I've ever worked on, but a few weeks ago I started feeling a bit bored (and also doubtful) so I decided to take a break from it.

It's going to be a very large and long scarf worked in Tunisian Simple Stitch on the bias.

The projects is inspired by this fun video by TL Yarn Crafts. Mine is a lot less adventurous though, because I only use four different colours. I'm using some very nice and fine merino wool, which feels amazing and works ups nicely (the colours are actually a bit more muted than in the pictures. As I said: shitty phone camera). Initially, I intended to have it finished by November, alas... Now my goal is to finish it for my birthday in February 😄

If I had to guess, I wouldn’t really know what we did in October.

A lot, apparently.

First up:

It's SCHOOL again.

Well, not again... pretty much this has been ongoing for over a year now.

Of course Kimmer’s in the full throes of the current semester of her doctoral program. So, on top of her day job and the charting demanded by that day job, she’s also researching, writing, testing, collaborating in-class, and commiserating with fellow students in this fast-track program. 

The workload is insane… and Kimmer’s managing it on top of everything else.

For me, professionally, the month kicked off diving into and crafting the first cut of a large project about youth incarceration.

A lot of footage covering different points of view, narratives, and circumstances. Definitely the biggest, one of the biggest, projects of the year. I had the first cut done about halfway through the month. 🙂

Linzy had a bit of a month this month…

Although nothing like what’s coming up November and December. Among her gigs in October, I'm thinking about one of the many in Woodinville, this particular time at Efestē Wines where I ran into friends from a lifetime ago and we got to catch up.

And catch up.

And catch up.

Talking shop. Talking family and future with people who get it. You know?

It was really really fun with Linzy providing the soundtrack.

Due to scheduling, our friends had to leave before Kimmer arrived. The timing was still good, though, ‘cause Linzy was on a quick break so we got in a little family time at the bar of all places. Afterward, she returned to her third set while we commenced date night. 

After that, we got all of Linzy's gear packed up and moved our van but somehow managed not to leave. We hung out at the back of the van talking shop like our family does.

Apparently.

I don't even remember what all we talked about. It was a bit stream of consciousness. But it was lovely still.

Linzy’s gig calendar had something on every Friday of October.

Winery gigs on three of them. A Midnight High show on the first Friday of the month. There was a Palisade restaurant performance on the last Wednesday of October but the BIG deal was Linzy’s Dream Patrol show at Sunset Tavern in Ballard, Tuesday the 22nd.

The show was the best one so far. Between the production quality of the recorded tracks playing back through the house sound system, the writing, the arranging, the mixing, the layering of the songs, a pair of her Midnight High bandmates, masters both on bass (Tim) and lead guitar (Skylar), expert stage lighting from mains to accents, smoke, disco balls, and then Linzy's performance itself that was an aligning of planets, a coalescing of iconic look, vocal performance, and lead singer attitude.

No joke.

This was some next-level magic.

One of the Dream Patrol songs Linzy premiered at the show’s called “halloween” and a coupla days before I got it in my head to see how feasible it might be to make a music video for that song using the Text to Video function of RunwayML.

Turns out: very feasible. The thing knocked my socks off. And Kimmer’s. And the producer I’m working with. And the other editor who works with that producer. And so on. 😁

And yeah it's age-restricted due to language and horror elements. So Beware!

I said before that I completed the first cut of the youth incarceration project halfway through the month.

The big deal there was that it was a work in progress until it wasn’t. Meaning, I didn’t have a sense of the full piece until I was in sight of the finish line. So. End of the day, the producer and I watch it in its entirety. For the first time. And it’s spectacular in its polished, first-cut iteration. 😁😁😁

By the way, did I mention Kimmer made costumes?

Yeah. The Dream Patrol show was actually billed as a “costume event” and we were all-in from the get-go. I can’t remember what I thought of first for a costume but the second costume I thought of was Nevermore student vampire. It took a coupla weeks but Kimmer found the pieces for it, included her dark round lensed glasses, and crafted the formal jacket herself with blue and black stripes along with the Nevermore logo. Classic!

For herself, Kimmer made…

Actually, she found this fantastic silver material, an oversized dress actually, and was immediately inspired to craft an Eiffel Tower costume. She bought additional materials and had a sort of first draft laid out on our dining room table prior to sewing it all together. It would've been AMAZING.

What happened, though, is that Kimmer was at Value Village and ran across a purple T-shirt illustrated with the gang from It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! in their iconic costumes.

Later she was telling me about it and how she was thinking about getting it for me to which I replied

“Why didn't you???”

So next thing we're in the car to Value Village where we snag the shirt (thankfully still hanging there in the costumes section) and since Kimmer’s always looking… she finds this year’s costume. Actually, she finds it in pieces. 

The first piece Kimmer finds is kind of a lamp shade deal where, instead of shade, there are strings of reflective wires. So she grabs it, thinking how it might go with her Eiffel Tower costume still in the works. But then…

Then she finds an outfit that we don't know what it is but it looks cool, fits comfortably, and makes a statement.

What statement?

No idea. 

It has kind of, sort of, maybe a Jetson’s vibe? But then put the reflective headpiece on her head and now she looks like a lamp?

Sort of?

Kind of?

Maybe?

So she buys both pieces on the spot and then a few days later finds the ankle boots to go with it. White leather. Platform. And now with this third piece she definitely has a look.

Again, no idea what that look is, but then we're in Ballard walking to the show at night. We're both wearing our costumes, me without the sunglasses yet, she without the reflective headpiece yet. Nearing the venue, we pass a group of revelers and one of them pauses to tell Kimmer how much she loves Kimmer’s outfit.

Get it? Outfit?

See, this is October 22. Costume parties won't start ‘til Friday afternoon. So I'm pretty sure she thought Kimmer was normally just dressed this way and looked cool.

I thought that was very sweet.

And Kimmer did look cool. ☺️

By the way. That music video I made from Text to Video prompts? That was definitely on my own time but it did pay off professional dividends in that I now have a method of working with this particular AI tool and can actually explain it to another human being in a way that makes sense.

Ish.

Okay so last thing:

We watched and watched and re-watched The Diplomat on Neflix earlier this year and have been anxiously awaiting the dropping of season 2 that happened at 3AM Eastern Standard Time, October 31st, which meant midnight Pacific Standard Time. Which meant that's how we ended our Wednesday night, October 30.

Which.

We.

Did.

We watched the first two episodes straight through for ninety minutes.

Last I looked at the clock it was about quarter of two Thursday morning.

The 31st.

My 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Review (Recorded Video) - Part 1.5 [Nov 19, 2020]

Here’s the Part 1.5 of my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad.🎮🙂

In this part topic, I’m recording a video of me touch and hold of my new wireless gamepad. Plus this will be my first time doing a ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response)of sorts.🎙️🎚️🧍‍♂️

Since I don’t have a audio tools for ASMR, I’ll try my best to do so.😅

*But before that, I want YOU… Yes you, which you’re reading my description. I want you to watch my recorded video first 📹📲 (as a observation) before you read the rest of my reaction experience. Hope you’re watching…

So without further ado, let’s get started:

My Experience: • (Now as you already done watching video.) When I pull out from two joysticks and hold my new 8bitdo gamepad, I didn’t expect that the gamepad’s size was big compare to my hands 🎮🤲. Regardless on size, it’s actually quite comfortable and perfectly snugged; holding 8bitdo gamepad’s underneath was so relaxing and somehow feeling premium plastic quality compare to my Sony DualShock 4 V2 controller.🤗 As a matter of fact, the 8bitdo gamepad was a little heavy 🏋️‍♂️than my DS4 V2 controller’s light weight ��.

• The ASMR part right here was the peeling the transparent protective sticker on the front facing button, which is never felt so good.🔊👂 (Again I try my best though, so let’s move on.^^; )

• As for the buttons and triggers, it completely matched to my six fingers 🎮🤲; from d-pad, front facing buttons to shoulder buttons, triggers and even start/select buttons too.🙂

•The 🔘clicking sounds 🔊 from both front facing buttons and L3/R3 buttons are very different compare of my DS4 controller to be honest. In fact L3/R3 buttons of the DS4 controller are louder tactile-liked than the 8bitdo gamepad. Sound wise with the D-pad too unlike the DS4 controller which is a bit silent when I pressed it individual, but when I pressed it whole d-pad between the two they’re quite differences. Not to mention that the star⭐(capture button on N-Switch) and heart ♥️ pixel button (home button on N-Switch and 8bitdo’s new logo brand by the way) had a bit tactile as well. As for the start/select buttons they’re rubbering when I pressed it, after all they’re trying to replicate the old portable gamepad. Also I noticed that there’s a four led lights indicated when I pressed the start button. 

• Moving on to the shoulder buttons and triggers. Their shoulder buttons (L1 & R1 or L & R for Nintendo) are very mushy, plus their less sound 🔉 compare to the DS4 controller’s loud shoulder buttons🔊. Triggers (L2 & R2 or ZL & ZR for Nintendo) on the other hand had the same less sounds 🔉 as well.

•The last part was showing the compartment behind underneath of the 8bitdo gamepad. And what’s inside is the 1000mAh 8bitdo battery pack 🔋!  Yup, you heard me right - 8bitdo had chosen a removable battery pack (for the SN30 Pro+) than just slap on as a built-in battery inside (like other 8bitdo controllers around), which is very genius way. 😁💡 And as you can see I was forceful to remove the battery pack with my finger(s) until I realize it’s the other side to remove the battery pack before it pops out.😅

• Anyways, when I hold the battery pack 🔋 from 8bitdo it’s actually quite light 🪶. I didn’t except that this is heavy but no - not at all. I’ll give the details about the 8bitdo battery pack in part 3.🙂

Well that’s all in my recorded video, because I have to make it quick before it reaches to 100MB. Despite that, I’ll make sure that I won’t be over 100MB when I’m recording video on my Honor 8C.📱🎦 Otherwise I’ll go to convert with online video edit to reduce the size, but it’ll also decreased the video quality so... I’m okay with that though.😌 Also I forgot to press the pair button (beside USB type C port) during my recording video before it's done quickly, uh well... Hopefully I’ll save it for another part.😊

Overall: • I think this 8bitdo gamepad 🎮 of mine was really good and very promising. It doesn’t matter that the buttons are different as well as the clicking sounds, quite tactile and somehow mushy for the shoulder buttons and triggers; at least it’s very comfortable in the palm of my hands 🤲. Man, I can’t wait to pair my 8bitdo wireless adapter/retro receiver to my new wireless gamepad of the same brand and play some games on my Windows 10 PC desktop really soon!🖥️😁 It’s like marrying a husband 🤵‍♂️(8bitdo USB wireless adapter ‘PS Classic Edition’) and wife 👰‍♀️(8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad) on wedding day 💍💒 - tech style 👨‍💻👩‍💻 (no pun intended).
