the teens and Mr Peabody time travel adventures! (the ancient Peabody's Improbable History, from Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons)
or maybe just Link and Dood in that vein!
Had to look this show up before deciding to go a little overboard with this one. Anyways. Here's a cel from your favourite cartoon that didn't exist when your parents were kids

I decided to link in global permissions all of the short RO.Bug comics I made so ppl can get a general idea what the character dynamics are like, and only now i realised I never posted on tumblr the āSayta fortnite dancing and getting her ass beat for itā comic. It was part of the instagram art requests and at the time i was too tired to post all of the requests here (i wanted to separate them into random fandom stuff and ro.bug stuff) so i guess i forgot about it jhbjhgjhb
iāll do that later tho, for now iām just gonna link to it from bluesky, bc rn iām also too tired to post stuff lol
#my posts#rambling#iām kinda tempted to also link some of the old OLD short comics but i realised thereās only like one of them on tumblr#and the rest is on instagramā¦yeah i can just link to instagram but idk i just prefer to have most links from the same source#damm i wanna make more short comics; i kinda miss drawing my guys interacting#will i ever draw an actual comic with full lineart and colors before I make the webcomic? hell if i know lol#I hope my official webcomic will have actual colors and will be more polished than these doodly ones#yeah black and white comics or grayscale ones are fine but iām not picking bugs as main subject matter#just so i wonāt depict their cool colors in the end product#ok iām getting off topic#anyway; the next 2 short comics i have planned are about Luva and Roden so i can finally introduce their dynamic officially

Hey everyone, great news!Ā
I have decided to launch Welcome To The Circus into a full-blown webcomic! Iāve desperately missed working on a personal comic project, but I know I have to do something more laid back to avoid another injury, so silly slice-of-life comics it is!
I hope you will enjoy reading these as much as I enjoy making them! ;D

The Index
This is an index of things I've written and posted online, with minimal descriptions because most of them have blurbs if you click the link. This list is not exhaustive, especially because there are a bunch of short stories and dribbles in various places. If something you liked is missing, let me know.
Web Serials
Worth the Candle - Juniper Smith is a teenaged Dungeon Master who ends up in a world filled with all the things he dreamt up for his campaigns, along with signs of his friend who died months earlier. This Used to be About Dungeons - Five teenagers live in a house together, bake bread, tend the garden, and occasionally fight monsters in dungeons. Thresholder - Thresholders travel from world to world, fantasy one minute and scifi the next, always encountering an opponent, growing stronger as they battle. Shadows of the Limelight - Fame gives you superpowers, and Dominic just saved the world's greatest hero from defeat in full view of a large audience. Glimwarden (unfinished) - A small town huddles around lanterns that keep the darklings at bay. Four teenagers must grow in power as the darkness encroaches. The Dark Wizard of Donkerk (unedited) - Two men steal a baby from an orphanage, then find out he's too cute to sacrifice and raise him as their own.
Fanfic
The Metropolitan Man (Superman) - Lex Luthor attempts to unravel the secrets of the alien. A Common Sense Guide to Doing the Most Good (Superman) - Superman gets really into effective altruism. Instruments of Destruction (Star Wars) - A fable of project management aboard the second Death Star, through the eyes of Admiral Tian Jerjerrod. Branches on the Tree of Time (Terminator) - Sarah Connor is working as a software engineer at UCLA when a naked man shows up on her doorstep. A Bluer Shade of White (Frozen) - Elsa can make life, and Olaf is smarter than he looks.
Shorts
Eager Readers in Your Area - Artificial intelligence has left authors scrambling for readers. Charlotte clicks on an ad. Variations - An orc visits an art exhibition where she feels out of place. Contratto - Julia takes a job as a marketer, working for the vampires to keep their secrets safe. The Randi Prize - James Randi offers a prize for anyone who can demonstrate supernatural abilities. Coming Home - After a long time isekaied to a fantasy kingdom, an errant father has coffee with his estranged son.
I also post short stuff to this very tumblr, which can usually be found under the #microfiction tag unless I forget. Usually this is mirrored on AO3, unless I'm lazy.
Web Comics
Millennial Scarlet - Lamont Pearce is a gig economy demon hunter whose mother ran a government agency meant to defend against Hell. Worth the Candle - A webcomic adaptation of the web serial
Non-Fiction
The AI Art Apocalypse - Slightly outdated thoughts from 2022. Why to Write a Sex Scene - Observations on the narrative purpose of carnal pursuits. Game Review: Underhill - This review contains no screenshots, because this game does not exist. Writing: An FAQ - Accumulated wisdom from 4 million words and counting. Creating Interesting Magic - A much-requested post on making interesting magic systems (and characters, and plots, and worlds). How to Write a Web Serial - It's both easier and harder than you think. The Trouble with Writing Nazis - On giving villains too much credit. Interesting Things to do with Time Loops - Exploring the boundaries of the conceit.

2024 Comic Contest Results
Before we get started, I would like to extend a personal thank you to everyone who created an entry for the contest this year. Although we only got four entries this year, those four entries' dedication to telling stories that are novel and interesting for this community to enjoy is worthy of commendation in itself. For a while, I was scared we wouldn't even get enough entries to fill the podium; thanks to your efforts, this has not come to pass.
Since we have very few entries this time around, I'll be providing a link to each comic, with accompanying scores and excerpts from reviews. Now, catch the results under the cut:
Runner-Up: "The Undertale Game Comic" by FutureGamer25
(Average score: 15.5/50)
"As the submitter says, this was made in a day. I canāt be too hard on this out of principle..." - Soufon
"[...it] succeeded at making me laugh multiple times, thanks in no small part to how it deliberately wields nothing looking like it fits together." - CHAOS_FANTAZY
"You know, honestly for being made in less than a day and being posted 5 minutes before the deadline, I gotta give you a lot of credit for that. I donāt even think I could have made that in a day [...]" - Mufeet
"The freaking car and the ending got me a good chuckle. I'll give you that. I congratulate you for tossing your coin." - Subna
3rd: "Frisk Visits the Store and Nothing Happens" by Trooper3
(Average score: 34/50)
"I thought Sans and ESPECIALLY Papyrus were super funny [...] I think weāve finally reached a point where the skele-bros are just consistently characterized properly now, and I love to see it." - Mufeet
"The FunMart[TM] makes an earnest effort to capture the feeling of exploring an area in an actual Toby Fox game, and [...] captures at least a bit of that shine." - CHAOS_FANTAZY
"I honestly like your idea, is funny and it works perfectly to show these OCs of yours in this format. I wish there was more content to see about them, I wish to know them [...]" - Subna
"As light as it is, I like having this kind of slice of life look into UTās world, the comedy focus helping to make the comic feel more breezy than insubstantial." - Soufon
2nd: "Undertale: Pushing On" by Mouse
(Average score: 34.75/50)
"Of all the entries we got, this is the only one that really felt like it captured the essence of telling a story as if it were still part of a gameāsomething I have sorely missed." - CHAOS_FANTAZY
"Great story and great teaching from it. Can add up greatly to UNDERTALEās world and...tbh Iād LOVE to play a full game with Alvia." - Subna
"[...] I like having who [Gerson] is in UT be because of Alviaās actions, like how the orange soul kid is framed as responsible for the bunny family in Snowdinās success - having all the soul humans impact the underground like that helps all of them feel real to UTās world[...]" -Soufon
"I was captivated from beginning to end, and god, the ending [...] it actually made me a bit teary-eyed." - Mufeet
1st: "Knock Knock" by StarlightShores and ToMoChao
(Average score: 47/50)
"I was not expecting something like this out of this contest. Knock Knock is a substantial storyline, not a peek into an adventure, or a silly reprieve." - Soufon
"Even if itās pretty lengthy, it keeps you engaged, to know where this is all going, all the way to the end." - Subna
"Flowey and Sans pair-ups are so rare, but when done it is ALWAYS such a fun time. They both play off each other so well, and it is no exception in this comic, especially towards the end where they start to bond over dealing with the loss of someone important to them." - Mufeet
"You created a story going on a thousand panels where, while reading it, my attention never flagged [...] You created a webcomic the Undertale fanbase will, if thereās any justice left around here, be obsessed with for years to come. Itās art, Iām afraid." - CHAOS_FANTAZY
Our full score card for the event can be seen here. The full reviews will be available in the Discord server on request.
With regards to prizes: the judge whom was contributing to our prize pool has begun college for the year, and unfortunately they were unable to set aside the money they had originally promised for the cash prize. The illustration prize is still available; winners, please reach out to fmsdraws on Discord to claim your prize.
And that leaves me...with this blog.
I'd like to write up a proper postmortem for this experience, but that can come in another week or two. For now, please enjoy the comics and celebrate the victors!

Take the A!
A Monthly Book Club for Reading Aspec Books
The monthly aspec book club is here! Whether you're ace-spec, aro-spec, a combination, or neither, join us in reading a variety of reads featuring a-spec main characters across genres. With no set meeting dates and discussions segmented by chapter spans, you can read and discuss these stories at your own pace. Our selection process also seeks to ensure that each member gets to provide direct input when deciding each month's reads.
More information below the cut; Discord invite in the reblogs.
Signal boosts allowed and appreciated! :)
Our Mission Statement
Take the A is a book club focused on reading fiction books across genres with characters on the ace/aro-spectrum to help readers discover the wide variety of stories that feature these often overlooked identities. You do not have to be aspec to join, simply excited to read and discover new stories.
How It Works
Each month's read will be selected by a process consisting of a nomination and a voting round. Members have three opportunities to contribute to the selection process: (1) by nominating a book, (2) by reacting to nominations, and (3) by voting on finalists. Books can consist of novels, novellas, graphic novels, and webcomics; nonfiction reads, anthologies, and collections will not be considered at this time. When the month begins, channels will be opened segmenting the books into their parts, usually defaulting to three sets of chapters. Throughout the month, readers can participate in commentary and suggestions within these channels as they progress through the read at their own pace. Channels for previous reads will remain open for a three-month* period after the month finishes, allowing readers to go back if they missed it or continue discussion if they desire. *Subject to change depending on activity levels, community wants and needs, etc.
Kicking off February
In order to start slow for February (and to prevent people from having to scramble to find a book last minute), there will be no nominations or overarching read for the month. Instead, five free read aro short stories from across the internet will be voted on by users, ending February 4 at 8 PM ET. The first Nomination phase will begin for March in mid-February.
The link to the Discord and initial taglist is in the notes. Feel free to follow this account for group updates and book recs! Ask box is open for questions.

2023 Book Retrospective
it's pretty much the end of the year, and i've never done this before, but i wanted to take a look at what i managed to do in 2023 and share some of my thoughts on it! i published five novellas this year (though i didn't actually write one of them) plus the public release of the demo and first huge update to You're A Mage on Monsterfuck Mountain. that's a lot!
so let's dig into all that. this will contain some spoilers for the books, because it's hard to talk about them without talking about what's in 'em, so maybe check out my itchio first and grab anything you missed! (but also.... perhaps wait until this weekend before you buy anything. shh.)
You're A Mage on Monsterfuck Mountain, released in March
TECHNICALLY, the demo was finished and available on patreon around the end of last year, and didn't become public until I'd finished the garden update, which i did finish this year. and what a massive fuckin THING that was. 60k words! 50 illustrations!! the biggest thing i ever put out and technically finished, and the beginning of a move to being less afraid of writing "weird" sex. there was so much bee sex in it. arguably too much bee sex in it. which i'd left entirely til last to do which meant i was writing nothing but bee sex for weeks.
this was the first time i let myself really indulge in writing dubcon for the bad endings, and it was a lot of fun. very often it was more interesting than the deliberately horny routes, because it meant writing a way to be put in the situation, and also making it hot every time. i'm very much of the philosophy with dubcon that even if the situation wasn't Ideal for the character, they're still going to get good sex out of it. i believe i put it at another point as, i'm here to write the pleasure of helplessness, not suffering. to that point, the dubcon endings for the armor, the dryad, and the queen bee were my favorite bits from this.
the fact i never got a second update out this year is a big regret. i finished a bunch of the routes for it, but ultimately i wanted to have things i could release! shortly after publishing the demo and update, i officially put my webcomic on hiatus so i could focus more on my graphic novel, and also spend more time on my writing. having that extra time is probably the only reason i was able to write as much as i did this year, and i didn't want to spend it toiling away on a serial project i couldn't release for months at a time.
which leads us to the release of my first novella of the year...
House of the Risen King, released in April
now this is when i truly said "i'm just going to write what i think is hot and interesting and not worry about how it's perceived!!" and went whole hog on exhibitionism and monster dubcon cult horror. house was mostly inspired by the ending of Hereditary, and was originally going to be more poltergiesty and played more straight, with vee being harangued by a bunch of horny ghost-demons and nothing more sinister than that. but i've had cult shit percolating at the back of my brain forever, and i wanted to play with ideas i'd first developed in shadow in the shelves with rituals and shadows, so here we are! the scene of hettie fingering vee in the bathtub while vee's god-fucked out of her mind is my favorite.
fun fact, the original seed for this book was actually going to feature max and mortis, my photographer/model couple (that link goes to cohost because i wasn't posting here yet when i was drawing them the most). the idea was they'd go do an urban exploration shoot and mortis would start getting fucked by a ghost while max filmed it, but the more time i spent with those characters the less i wanted to involve the supernatural. which meant i never wrote their book, and had to make a new character to do the idea. and then it wasn't even that idea anymore.
that's writing, folks
Roger Crenshaw: The Dogs at Duskfall, released in June
... which makes it ironic that the next book is one i didn't even write! r/l monroe @mortalityplays has been my friend for years, and was my editor for a long time (until he got a REAL JOB and didn't have TIME to edit anymore. sobs, cries, kicks a stone and walks into the distance). he's also always been an incredible writer, and for my birthday this year i asked him to write me something. i asked with the expectation of a little short story about our old tabletop RP characters, or a fanfic scene for one of my books he'd edited.
and then he wrote me 20,000+ words digging into the character of roger crenshaw and who he is that perfectly summed him up and tied all his stories together, such that i don't think i ever need to write another one. he did it, he wrote the perfect ending to roger. AND he did it using my favorite of his ocs from our tabletop campaign, AND there's some really hot and sweet smut in it. AND HE DID IT IN LIKE TWO WEEKS.
i loved it so much that i asked if i could illustrate and publish it as an official novella, and to my delight he agreed, and it was so so nice to collaborate with him on it. even if it meant beating our heads against the wall for 30 minutes about the placement of certain images on the page.
this was a great tragedy. i'd drawn the vagina one first, but an image earlier in the book had to be moved, which affected the placement of everything else. the vagina image had been perfectly at the start of a new page, and then suddenly it wasn't. so i had to do the penis one instead for better placement. tragic!!!
it's hard to pick a favorite scene in something written entirely, lovingly for you. how can i choose between the characters' pitch perfect semantic arguments on the nature of folk lore, the millenium princess-ass memory hopping, or the really really hot smut? i can't. i love it all. thank you r/l for being so good at what you do and writing this for me, i'll treasure it always.
The Dragon Double Feature, released in May
apparently this came out in may, and not july. i don't know why i've been convinced this came out in july. oh well i can't be bothered to insert it on top of the roger one.
anyway. THIS book. this book exists because i believe at the time i was a bit blocked, and wanted to just write SOMETHING. for a long time i've had the idea of a dragon wrecking a princess' wedding and fucking her in front of the congregation just sitting in my back pocket. it was the 'i know i could just slam this out if i wanted. i don't have to care about it it's just sex and then it's done' fallback idea, and i finally did it!
and then it was too short. i don't like the idea of publishing anything less than 10k words for full price, so i was like. okay. alright. i've always thought fucking an eastern dragon would be hot and have this other idea i was going to use for roger (back when i had an idea for every monster possible for roger), let's just write that. kenta is only kenta because i took a poll for what body type i should pair with a dragon (he was 'big boy', i think the other options were twink, older woman, and average woman). and i was also Really into the movie inu-oh at the time, which is probably obvious with kenta being a blind musician, lol.
the musician and the waterfall was tougher to write because i didn't have a clear vision of how it should end or even how they should fuck (the mechanics of fucking long noodle dragon have challenged me for years) but i'm ultimately pleased with it. it would have been a long time since i wrote something sincerely romantic, and it was nice to go back to it. i'm a HUGE romantic at heart.
both stories are pretty much one extended scene so it's hard to pick a favorite moment from them, but i will say i'm very pleased with how i approached writing the musician and the waterfall, specifically in the challenge i set myself to never use visual description kenta couldn't reasonably guess. writing from the POV of a blind man made me focus in on different senses and ways to describe them.
this book is also, as of right now, my best seller. which is great! i love that for me.
The Dragon Double Feature 2, released in July
okay i guess THIS one released in july.
anyway i got stricken with the curse with this one. a lot of people wanted me to write a sequel, but i wasn't going to. and every time i say i'm not going to do something, i end up doing it. it's so annoying. this one only happened because i wanted to write a SHORT! a SHORT extra for patreon describing kenta and wakatake's first time having sex as humans.
and then i wrote too much preamble describing their time on the beach. and then i got emotionally invested in unpacking their actual relationship, and also added a third character with mrs arakawa, and had to bring it all together into a story that was coherent and had something to say about the way they loved and ALSO ended in a THREESOME because WHATS THE POINT OF INTRODUCING A THIRD CHARACTER if they aren't all going to FUCK TOGETHER!!
it was tough. but i'm really, really happy with it in the end, and think it's one of the best things i've ever written. my favorite scene is definitely them playing with the hermit crab on the beach. metaphors babie.
the gundrid/eveline story is fine too. lmao. i NEVER PLANNED TO WRITE ANOTHER WITH THEM!! i only did it because the idea of publishing a sequel to a story from a double feature without writing a sequel to the other half of the feature was insane. and now eveline and gundrid are some of my most beloved characters, to the point of writing another book featuring them...
The Tenebrous Tower, released November
yet another book i'm pretty sure i was like 'i don't need to write this. this character doesn't work for a story on his own, what am i ever gonna do with him' and then i dumped a bunch of fantasy characters into a jar with him and suddenly i had a story. I ONLY MADE ROMICK BECAUSE I WANTED TO DRAW FUCKED UP WIZARD PORN AND MY ONLY OTHER OPTION WAS A GRANDPA!!!
anyway i started writing it as something to do on vacation, and it was just gonna be a bunch of dungeon bdsm vignettes until i hit on a throughline and suddenly i had a story and an emotional arc and damn i did it again. i did it again. i have a book.
i was expecting this one not to do very well because it had multiple prerequisites, but because i am a master of my craft i made sure to write it so you didn't need to read those. and then people read it without reading those. so it worked out anyway and now it's done just about as well as dragons 2. the people love romick, but they especially love the idea of him being destroyed. maybe someday. maybe someday. (except on patreon, where it's already happened)
the final vignette with the doll is, of course my favorite. i think it was a lot of people's favorites.
............................................
and that's everything i published this year! honorable mention to my novel starbuster, which i'd written most of last year, then spent all of october this year revising with the intent of finishing it, only to run out of steam by the time i was done revising it. so it's exactly where i left it last year. just better written. god it would be nice to finish that fuckin thing next year.
my goals for 2024 are, of course: release more books!! i have a big project i've been working on illustrating for the past month that i'd like to release in january, and i've also been working on a spin-off one-shot with mrs arakawa and an oni. i think this coming year i want to Try to blast through some of the one-off ideas i developed this year so they'll quit banging cowbells in my brain. like the sleeping garden. it makes me insane i never actually wrote the sleeping garden.
anyway if you actually made it to the end of this, thank you!! if you've bought all of these books, double thank you!!! i've been able to pay my rent and expenses just with my adult work this year, and it's been amazing and fun and super fulfilling. thank you for supporting me in 2023, here's to a horny 2024!!

Art Styles I Personally Think the Hetalia Characters Looked Their Best In (and Why) Part 1
Link to Part 2
I'm making this at 3am because my back hurts and I can't sleep. But the art styles have been on my mind for a while and I wanted to talk about it. Or at least express which ones I think were best for certain characters and why.
I will also be omitting characters who have only appeared in one season.
Also, please note that I am referring to the show and not the webcomic. This is primarily because I didn't always have access to the webcomic and thus the show is what I've always been most familiar with.
Italy: Seasons 1-4
This was a close call between this and his design for season 5, but you can't beat the classic art style for Italy. When someone mentions Italy from Hetalia, this is what comes to mind. I also feel like there's a bit more fluff to his hair in this art style, but it's also not so flat that it looks like his hair is wet. He also just looks cuter here. I can't explain it. He just does.
Romano: Season 7
As a long-time Romano fangirl, this was a very close call between all the art styles I've seen for this character. But ultimately, season 7 won out. I like how they colored his hair. Not just because I like brown hair, but because they made it shiny, but not so shiny that it looks wet, and... Let's be real here, this outfit. It is everything my middle school self ever wanted and more. The Romano fans were blessed the day he graced our screens with this glorious fit.
Germany: Season 1-4
Part of why I love this art style for Germany is because it's the one I was first introduced to, and it's one where he looks the most like a real person (at least to me, anyway). Another reason is that the other designs for Germany either make him way too muscular for my liking, or they give him a bit of a dopey face. I think it's also worth mentioning that this design gave us some very meme-worthy facial expressions, and that should never be downplayed or forgotten. Also, I miss the black tank top look for him. Iconic.
Japan: Season 5
Japan's design in season 5 hits sort of a sweet spot between his designs for seasons 1-4 and seasons 6-7. His hair is obviously still black, but it isn't so dark that it loses any value. The shading and gradient look really good and help make his design here pop from the previous one. I also like how big and squared his eyes are here, similar to in seasons 1-4. Seasons 6-7 made his eyes too round. I also love that brown gradient within his eyes. I feel like his eyes were too small in seasons 6-7. As I said, this Japan design hits a sweet spot and balances all the best elements of his design while still maintaining the look of aph Japan.
Prussia: Season 5
It took me a while to figure out why I preferred this art style for Prussia, but I think I finally figured it out. Angles. This design utilizes sharper angles than the other designs for Prussia. The reason why this works so well is that angles in character design are often used either for older characters or for characters who have a bit of an edge to them (pun unintended). I understand that Prussia is a huge dork (affectionately), but he has always come across as a sort of rebel to me with a "do or die" attitude, which makes sharper edges and angels work well for him. Also, his eyes are pretty. And he looks hot here sue me.
Spain: Season 5
Okay, I have several notes here, because virtually everything here is an upgrade from his design from seasons 1-4. For one thing, they actually gave him tanned skin, which, in my opinion, makes sense for the personification of Spain, a country that gets a lot of sunshine. His hair is shiny and gives a sort of sunkissed look, like he's been working outside the whole day. Not to mention his hair has a bit of fluff to it, a huge upgrade from his more flat-looking hair from previous seasons. His eyes are beautiful, with a gradient from yellow-green, into avocado green, and then into a shamrock green. I also like the more casual clothing he wears this season, as well as that one cool-looking suit of armor he wore during his battle against the Netherlands. The only reason I am not putting his design for seasons 6-7 here is that, despite giving him even tanner skin in those seasons, which I like, his facial features feel too rounded to me, making him look a bit like a young child. Season 5 Spain walked in, slayed the competition, and walked out. A true king.
Belgium: Season 5
I've heard a little bit of arguing online about how Belgium's hair in season 5 should've been blonde, but honestly? In a sea of blonde characters, I don't mind her having light brown hair. If anything, I think it's beautiful and it makes her stand out more. I really like her light green eyes, as well as the cute dresses that she wears. In particular this outfit. The green bow on her dress and in her hair complement her eyes beautifully. Not to mention that the green bow on the gray and black dress makes for a really nice pop of color. I know she's not a character who shows up a ton, but for me, she looked her absolute best in season 5, and the previous and latter seasons cannot compare.
Netherlands: Seasons 5-7
I'm lumping seasons 5-7 together for the Netherlands because I honestly cannot see too many big differences between his designs there. All I can say is that they are far better than his one design in seasons 1-4. I love the whole outfit he wears, with the long coat and the scarf. I lowkey kinda want that scarf. He also has the added detail of smoking a pipe. Which, sidenote, is that a big thing in the Netherlands? I have no idea. I just found the pipe to be a unique and interesting detail. I'd talk about the design, but that would be best suited for a top ten favorite designs post.

Hello!
I found a potential lead on finding all the pages of The Doctor Foxglove Show!
While searching for pages, one lead that came up a few times was from the Wellington City Libraries (Te Matapihi Ke Te Ao Nui), a New Zealand Government Library Resource:Ā HERE
The website stated that they had the Intro Chapter of The Doctor Foxglove Show in their library in reserves!
At first, I wasn't sure if Rachel made zines of The Doctor Foxglove Show because, at the time, I haven't seen any evidence of it UNTIL I started looking more deeper into the WayBack Machine and going through various links until I found a post on Rachel's archived Tumblr blog about making zines of not just the Intro Chapter, but all three chapters (more on that in a later in a correction post) of The Doctor Foxglove Show!
Which means, there is a good possibility that there are people out there that have the full webcomic in their possession in physical form!
If you or someone you know has any of the zines in their possession, send me a message on here or on Reddit!

Henllo followers! This is the author speaking! Yes!
Unfortunately, PMD: The Rogue Team is still on hiatus. Real life has been too busy!
This update is to inform you all of some changes made to the comic's website on tumblr, as well as some new things going forward!
>> I've added navigation links to every comic page! As much as I liked the old webcomic theme, it started to bother me that mobile users could not use the desktop navigation, and that the chrono tags did not work. Hopefully this makes your reading experience better! >> I've also updated the website theme! It's really pretty and made by glenthemes on tumblr. Pages are displayed at a bigger size on desktop, so I think it works really well! >> With the theme updated, you now have the ability to send asks to this blog! I've always loved to hear readers' thoughts on the comic in other platforms, and I missed this kinda interaction on tumblr. So feel free to share your opinions! Any not-a-comic-page post will be tagged as "not comic", so you can block the tags if you only want to read the story. >> I also plan to reblog fanart and post my random PMD: The Rogue Team art here! >> Most importantly: even though the comic is on hiatus and life is too busy, I am still working on drawing the comic pages little by little, because this comic never leaves my mind for a second :') So I'm also going to post little cropped WIPs here! And maybe updates on how far along production is going, whenever I reach a milestone.
That's all, folks!
Thank you very much for your support and faith in my little baby project. I hope you enjoy what I have in store ;v;)b

Are you going to finish your webcomic I can't find any black webcomics and yours looks promising. If you finish it I will read it. I tried looking and all I see are Asian and white people as per usual.
Hi, I think youāre referring to this post - that story is by @onyichii i. I donāt make comics currently. I just read a lot and illustrate on the side. Youāre in luck Iāve been wanting to make a post about black & brown FL in webcomics. Iām always on the hunt for more webcomics with black leads! These stories can be found on Webtoon ( I know there are stories on tapas - I just donāt like their coin/ink system at all so I very rarely visit). Here are some of the tropes ā romance, supernatural, mystery, magic, adventure. Iāve linked the webtoons and the creators behind them - please follow them and support them if you can! ( I might add descriptions for these titles later on but Iām tired so here are links and photos for now )
Here you go:

HEY GUYS!
Brief interruption of ridiculous fandom posting to let u all know I've set up a short-lived BIG SALE shop for the physical books of Today Nothing Happened and Runewriters (AND ALSO ORIGINAL PAGES FROM RW!!). If you remember my old Webcomic Days and missed owning a physical copy of one of these books, this is your chance!! I'm moving soon (YAY!) and I don't want to move heavy boxes of books across the country (BOOOOO) so THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST CHANCE TO GRAB THESE IN PHYSICAL FORM!!!! because I'm going to just get rid of anything that doesn't sell and BE FREE OF IT!!!!
HERE'S THE LINK!!
https://shazzcomics.bigcartel.com/
Nothing will be shipped out until after mid-November (I'll update here again with a LAST CHANCE warning when I have an actual date), at which point I'll close the store and then ship everything out before my move.
For those who weren't around for my webcomic days, Today Nothing Happened was a light-hearted journal comic I drew for a few years after college (over a decade ago..... crumbles into dust....), and Runewriters was a fantasy story I drew after that, about friendship, body horror, and magical mistakes. I think they're both cute and funny and have good art, but there's def some of the old TNH strips that make me cringe today, and Runewriters' story was never finished -- I had to step back from the comic about 4 chapters in. BUT IF YOU DONT MIND THAT they're pretty neat!!!
TNH is no longer online, and I'm not planning to keep RW archived online long-term, but I do hope to get a PDF version of these books available online at some point when I'm not running around closing an estate and selling a house and getting geared up for a big move, so if you don't particularly want a physical copy you can wait for that. BUT IF YOU DO WANT A PHYSICAL COPY DONT WAIT!!! THEY ARE NOT COMING BACK AFTER THIS!!!!
ONE MORE THING: I have to set up shipping manually for each country so: if you want to buy something but your country is not listed, please CONTACT ME (either here or through the site) and let me know what country you need shipping to, and I'll go look up rates and see if I can get it added as soon as I can!!

ada's spectre, and why i'll likely always feel sad about it
here is the promised analysis/talk about ada's spectre. going to preface this by saying i obviously don't know the true intent behind everything and her design, i just like to look, giggle and then make sad little observations which just help me love this silly webcomic even more. so if you disagree with me on somethingā totally ok! i love to learn and i love to see different interpretations.
there's also a few bits i missed out because i wrote this all last night in a bit of a haze, and i cannot be bothered to expand on some of my ideas, especially when it's just stuff like "BROS SO PARANOID AND RAW RIGHT NOW".
anyways, here we go :) @mugcereal this one's for u pookie <3
so i think with ada's spectre, we first need to look at the instance as to how she gets it, because that always makes things way more sad!
to specify, she turns into her spectre at episode 69, and i think it's really sad how she does it. she basically gets a string of roasts from prospero that go along the lines of calling her "conceited" "twadry" and "... and stupid!" ā effectively throwing back in ada's face what she believes everyone thinks of her.
(obviously, as a very big and glaring sidenote, i believe prospero is aro/ace or just aromantic so OBVIOUSLY i am not bashing him for this. bros told her so many times that he doesn't want to be with her, let alone to be touched. that is a flaw in ada's character and is a reminder to us on the importance of boundaries!!!!)
so, ada is basically there, collapsed on the floor in a robeā effectively showing the most intimate and private part of herself as an insecure and lonely girl. and that's when she transforms.
i think it's interesting to understand how this most likely links to her life and how she died. so we know she was killed with an axe, most likely by the man she fell in love with and worked for, and how prospero's words in this situation, hurt her just the same as the words before her death. why?
because they remind ada of what she knows and fears she is: just a stupid, fake and cheap person who will never have the same status and respect as the people she pretends to be and surrounds herself by.
i think it's also interesting that she's clutching her stomach/torso here, and correct me if i'm wrong but that could be a potential signal to the part of her that was axed to death (?). no idea if that's a good shout or not but it's what i first thought!
anyways! now we move onto her spectre design!
first of all, her spectre design eats. like just a personal side note, i love it. it's just so gorgeous and i don't care if she's terrifying to some because to ME? to me, she's my gorgeous little pookie who can scream and show people their worst fears and she looks amazing whilst she does it <3
ok anyways, actual design.
to first understand her design, i thought i'd show you what banshee's traditionally in folklore look like!
typically, they are described in two ways. the first way is a youthful women with long black hair, blue eyes and just super pale. this description could also lose the blue eyes and just keep the black hairā either way the first depiction of a banshee is a super young woman.
this is not the one we're focussing on today folks!
we're going to focus on the second depiction. a hag/ old woman, with red cheeks, a grey cloak and a green dress, often seen to be combing her hair. banshee's throughout folklore are known to wail, scream and cry when a family member had died. to most, the banshee was a sign that death was coming to your household and they are known in myths and folklore as a predictor of death.
now, hold onto the green dress and look at ada's design real quick for me.
here we see a lot of green, which yay! definitely shows signs it comes from the second depiction. i think, on top of it being a nod to the second depiction, i think it could also be an allusion to something else: jealousy.
green symbolism in media can often vary, from meaning new life, luck and also jealousy. and i think if we take in the things ada screams whilst in her spectre form, such as this from episode 82:
you see there definitely is some sort of jealousy there, but this isn't something i necessarily want to focus on, it's just an observation i made that may or may not be true!
anyways, to continue, i want to look at ada's outfit when she's a banshee. i'm going to basically be making my notes i took last night look nicer.
(keep in mind that when i wrote these, my ideas were literally bouncing off my brain and sometimes they're a bit contradictory, but i think that's the beauty of my crack theory analysis!)
i think the act of almost showing her bones to the outside, there's a level of rawness to ada we don't usually see. her spectre form essentially gives her the power to scream out her anger, and by seeing her bones it's almost as if to say this is the ada she doesn't show people. this is the ada that she keeps to herself because god forbid anybody love her (because in life and death it's become abundantly apparent to her that nobody does seem to love that ada).
but then, what i thought was also a super cool thing as how the bones almost act like a corset!
then i got sad because i looked at the bows, and because something dawned on me and it made me start to frown. there was a sad realization to me as i looked at ada's spectre design that even in this all powerful form, she hasn't lost her insecurities, they just become more prevellant. because for all of the traditional wrinkles, hag-like appearance a banshee is meant to have, ada barely has any.
obviously this could be in part to character design and stuff, and yeah probablyā but let me be sad!
because ada carries her frills and bows from life here because she doesn't want to be ugly, she doesn't want to be this creeping monster who rips apart people. because if she's not got her intelligence or status or anything going for her, she has her appearance and by god she's not going to let that go to waste. so here her spectre form is, a banshee.
so what must ada do? she must takes her frills and keep her insecurities, her fears and her crippling need to be loved.
another aspect which is super interesting is the stitching on her body. one one hand, it could be an allusion to her violent death, suggesting the man she fell in love with didn't just stop at axing her once, but just kept on fucking going (which, you know: fuck you, whoever you are).
but on the other hand, it could be a metaphor for ada's thinly veiled facade she puts on of being a prim and proper lady (which we actually, interestingly enough, see she looses a lot the more time she spends with montresorā opting to take parts of his language like "ain't" and "beggin'". this sort of leads on from previous ideas people have made of ada willing to change herself to be loved. she swaps civility for the wild wild west all for a bit of love).
ada offers up parts of herself in this metaphor. that's what she always does. she offers herself to the rich man she fell in love with, she offers herself up to prospero (again, look at the. side note. bro wasn't wrong for rejecting her he literally can't like her) and she offers herself up to the acolytes and she fucking barks for them (because i'm not over that).
piece by piece, she strips away everything she is until she literally is just skin and bone. and once she's torn herself apart, she needs to stitch herself back togetherā because it's against the facade she's put on to look so broken and messy. and so she repeats the cycle again, giving more and more until she is literally hanging on by a thread.
her powers are also super cool. traditionally, as i said, banshees wail when a family member is soon to die/has died, and is often like an omen/predictor of death. so yeah, ada having a banshee scream makes sense. but the whole 'fear itself' is also super cool. i kind of like that she has thisā because its sort of satisfying for her, the girl who's been pushed over but still comes running back, to watch as people become paralysed with fear. idk, retribution or whatever.
i'm going to leave you with this not very profound thing i wrote last night (and then just some other mumblings):
i think that although spectres are super powerful and also just a very fantastic concept, they're also fragile. spectres are quite literally the monster inside of you. yet here ada's monster is, and with all her bows and revamped dress of a banshee (or potentially an allusion to her life as a maid) she tries desperately to be anything but that. because to here it's ugly and it's too much of her on display. and with some much of you on display comes the very fear that if you are hated, disliked or something repulsive, you no longer have anything to blame on anybody else. you just have yourself to blame.
(as morella says here in episode 88).
i'm not saying ada isn't deeply flawed, because she is. she has so much fucking baggage and insecurities that they literally forbid her from doing the right thing sometimes. i don't think she's a good person, but i also think that she has the opportunity to be a good person/ do a semi-good/ non-bad thing, and all she has to do is take it. but i also think it's nice how that's shown in her spectre design.
and, you know, if none of this makes sense, that's also fine!
anyways, yeah. somebody tell me never to make a random analysis at night again because it's a bit of a bitch to translate in the morning.

now that youāre making updated versions of early sakana pages for webtoon, are you planning on formatting those new versions for the hiveworks website as well, or will those pages remain in all their original glory?
The sakana-comic.com pages will always remain in their original versions!
With links being suppressed on twitter (which used to be my biggest platform) and ad revenue down across the web, It's been much more difficult in the current social media climate to point people to a unique website like sakana-comic. So I figured I'd be remiss not to give the top webcomics aggregate a fair shot. (Still missing SmackJeeves all these years later though... u_u).
You could probably consider the Webtoons version its own separate comic project because of how many edits I'm making, and I'd encourage any SAKANA fan to check it out and see what's different! I'd also HIGHLY encourage everyone to visit and interact with their favorite webcomics on their home websites, not just Sakana's (and please make sure to turn off your ad-block while you're there!) All indie creators are feeling the squeeze right now!

Hey, found you on reddit long long ago and have since been a follower. I wanted to say thanks for all of your essays, for your advice about comics and creative work in general, and especially for the coherent thoughts on webtoon as a company... seeing you do LR and just BE outspoken about the experience of working on webcomics and being a professional artist, it gives lots of people hoping to go into the industry or do that sort of work (myself included) the courage to stand on our feet. I saw in real time that reddit post you analyzed in your last post, and I've made the (honestly pretty scary) decision to stop publishing my own comic on WT completely and abandon ship for a third party site. Still trying to decide which would be best. It sucks feeling like you're abandoning an entire audience, but the knowledge that your work will remain your own and on your own conditions... that's far more valuable at the end of the day. So thanks for the (accidental) help with that decision, and I'll do my part in spreading the word. I really enjoy lore rekindled, thank you for all your efforts and hope you're having a great day :>
Aw hey! It's always humbling to hear that people find strength in my crazy wordy essays LOL I don't particularly like saying 'you're welcome' with this sorta thing so I guess I'll say, no prob, glad I could help? š
I understand all too well that fear of 'abandonment'. I'm currently in the process of moving all of my work off WT as well, notifying my readers, all that fun stuff. I've considered using it just as a mirror site for the sake of trying to get audience members, but honestly, I've been using it as my primary site for nearly a decade with no luck so keeping it on the platform even just as a mirror just feels... I dunno, like I'd just be getting the same results regardless. Especially now with the site going in the direction that it is, and the fact that they're clearly moving towards AI, at best I don't want my work to be bringing in the site any more traffic (even if it's just a drop in the bucket) and at worst I don't want my work to get scraped by AI or some shit down the road LOL I often wonder why I've bothered putting up with Webtoons for so long, when I left Tapas over far less. I think it's just the fear of being a disappointment. But really the only person I should be most concerned of disappointing is myself - and I don't want to continue to disappoint myself by sticking it out with a platform that's getting worse by the day.
Something that's helped me reframe my perspective on the "loss" of Webtoons as a platform is just viewing it less as 'abandoning' and more like 'upgrading'- upgrading the environment in which I host my work, so that it can be in a place that works for my goals and stories rather than against them. It's like the golden rule of dealing with employers, if you're not getting adequate raises or proper treatment, then you leverage your skills and experience into a better position. Nothing is forever, including webcomic platforms. But change doesn't have to be a bad thing, so long as you can use it to your advantage somehow.
Take what you can of your audience with you. Encourage them to try new spaces. Turn the transition into a party, get people so excited for it that they'll feel like they're missing out if they don't hop on! Have confidence, even if you don't have everything figured out yet. The readers that truly love your work and want to read it will follow.
And worst case... send me a link to your comic sometime and I'll do what I can ;) I'll see you on the other side of wherever our work ends up (ā¢Ģį“ā¢Ģ)Ł
