It was just dinner and a movie between friends, and yet Lyra had been excited all day. It wasn’t even the first time they had done this, meeting weekly for dinner ever since Harvey had invited her to his apartment for her recent birthday. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d had so much fun on her birthday. All because of him. Her good friend. Her good friend who was incredibly sweet, funny, smart… extremely attractive.

‘You could have called if you were too tired to come over. I wouldn’t have minded.’ She offered. The truth was her heart would have sunk if he cancelled. He sipped his wine, eyes never leaving hers.

‘Miss this? Not an option.’ He spoke softly, causing Lyra to take in a deep breath, feeling her face beginning to warm up, the blush spreading further as she became more aware of it.

She rolled her eyes playfully. ‘It’s just dinner and a movie, Harvey.’

‘Highlight of my week.’

I was very lucky to be able to commission the super lovely and brilliant @purpledemonart to draw this flirty little introduction to my fic Ask Me Anything. I've mentioned before that AMA is possibly my favourite of all the stories I have written for Lyra and Harvey. The fic is approaching a milestone on AO3 so I decided to commission some art for each chapter. I was so thrilled to have Bast draw this moment at the start of the fic, as they also drew this dreamy art capturing a special moment at the very end of the fic. Thank you so very much for working with me again! I love this so much!

I hope this isn't weird but earlier I was thinking about how much good artists do in the world, and so many artists don't recognize it. You bring a lot of joy to a lot of people. I've gotten a few commissions from you at this point, and every time I look at them I get so happy because, man, there was someone who took time to create something for me (I know I payed, but still!) Beyond that, I have seen when you draw little doodles just because people inspire you to eith their asks. You practiced your skill and you use it to make others happy and that's so valuable. You contribute a lot to this world just by bringing people's moods up, and I hope you recognize that. You're pretty awesome :)
