Wholesome OC Ask Meme, 4 for Victoire, 11 for Ursula!!

MWAH MWAH MWAH I literally had to pause writing this reply because it sidetracked into me doing some actual writing, thank you truly, my friend

Okay so Ursula + 11 first: 'What is an item of clothing/an accessory that completes them/makes them feel safe?' So this was a little tricky at first, because Ursula is a bit of a magpie, a bit of a maximalist, but largely because she's constantly gathering/making/doing things. She carries a little pearl-handled knife with her at all times. It's a memento from her mother, and it was her constant companion when she was young and speedrunning learning complicated magic with high energy demands. The knife was, during this time, for giving her blood to whatever bit of greenery was close at hand and willing to help. She doesn't do this nearly as much any more, but she still feels at a loss without the knife in her pocket/apron/bag/whatever.

Next is Victoire + 4: 'What is the thing they like most about their friends, and what is the thing their friends like the most about them?' I'll answer this in pairs! Victoire + Hedda: Victoire looks up to Hedda as someone with a lot of internal strength, and she also realizes fairly early on in their friendship that Hedda understands her really well. They have a lot of shared experiences, and they never really talk about this as much as would be good for them, but Victoire can rely on Hedda to not hassle her to be honest or to talk about her feelings or whatever. They can just literally wrestle about it, and it's always what Victoire needs. Praise from Hedda is like catnip to Victoire, and Victoire would sooner die than admit it. ||||||||| Hedda, meanwhile, is really proud of Victoire (not something she's likely to say outright - these two are a problem, especially together) for all that she's achieved in spite of a really really messy magical awakening. Hedda also is usually grateful for the blunt way Victoire speaks to her. They have a good dynamic when neither of them really wants to talk, but there's some emotion that needs venting (which is frequently) Victoire + George: Victoire appreciates George just as much as she does Hedda for the experiences they share, but something she realizes about George as time goes on is that he is actually remarkably nonjudgmental. This comes as a surprise to her when she realizes it, because when they were both still sealed, she would have said he was the most up-tight and fastidious person she knew, but as it turns out, it was just a corruption of his real personality trait which is CARES A LOT AND WANTS TO GO OUT OF HIS WAY TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT FOR PEOPLE. She can usually count on him to listen to whatever she has to say without saying anything critical, even if he doesn't care for something, he tends to listen first and criticize later, if at all. ||||||||| George meanwhile is very protective of Victoire. Though he tells Hedda all the time that they're not responsible for things they did while sealed, the truth is he suffers from guilt the same as she does. He finds Victoire's bluntness and tendency to take the most direct route towards getting what she wants a breath of fresh air, and inspiring.

Well since I only have the one published fic, I’d have to go with “Running Away Will Never Set You Free” ;). For real though the excitement I feel when I get a new comment or someone messages me with their thoughts or headcanons is honestly insane, I literally screenshot every single comment (and reply!). Like genuinely it amazes me that this story and these characters exist outside of me and other people think about them????? That sounds so fake. But it is my favorite thing :)

👖- planner, plantser, or pantser? Am I consistent?

I’ll be real here bestie, idk what these words mean, but I like… plan some and then also let the story lead me? Like I went in with some general ideas and some scenes I knew from the jump, but then I also see what comes to me as I go and as I learn more about this world and these characters. I do love to flesh out the world and the characters though, like beyond even what shows in the story, but just for my knowledge in how I approach things and having a firm foundation of why a character would make certain choices or react in certain ways. I do love to plot ideas but I also don’t want to lock myself into something where I don’t have the freedom to let the story flow freely, if that makes sense!

💭- A headcanon I have about my own work?

Oh wow I have so many honestly 😂 let’s see… I think Anetra has never had a pet but she’s always wanted a cat, albeit she’s obsessed with Freddie (Sasha and Kylie’s pug, his full name is Sir Freddie Mercury) and Freddie is just as obsessed with her, he goes absolutely crazy every time Anetra comes over and always wants to sleep on her lap. Marcia for sure grew up with one of those big all-American household dogs like a golden retriever or something like that, either that or she grew up with one of those tiny white dogs that her family dressed up with bows and skirts and stuff like that. But she doesn’t understand the appeal of cats until Anetra drags her to the shelter to meet the cats one day and then she absolutely refuses to leave unless she can take one home with her.

Olruggio - Cello

Warm in the depth of its tone, like many strings can be uplifting or melancholy in its sound. An excellent instrument solo, reinforces the bass of a larger orchestra and makes a good pair with a piano - with either in the accompanying role.

Tetia - Piccolo flute

Sweet and chirpy, trills like a bird in flight. Uplifting and playful, floats above everything else. In the hands of a skilled player it will never be shrill - it's tone rings bright and true, a stand-out melody in a layered composition.

Vash - Fiddle

A colloquial name that conjures thoughts of a jaunty folk music or upbeat country tune - perfect for a bit of chaos or a chase. There's something down-to-earth, jovial and personable about a fiddle, compared to the older, mature, sorrowful feeling of a violin - but they're one and the same instrument, aren't they?

Merly - French horn

With a low, soft, but distinctive voice, a French horn is a smooth and competent mediator in an orchestra of wind and string. It's confidence and boldness may be understated compared to other brass instruments, but that doesn't make it less assured. Although, they're a wee bit temperamental with their unique playing technique.

Final Bug Fact:

The world NEEDS bugs. They keep the soil healthy, pollinate, control pests, and contribute to the worlds' ecosystem. By the end of the century, it is estimated 40% of insect species may go extinct due to habitat loss. Yes, that is very scary. But with even one beetle spared, one caterpillar rescued, and one Hollow Knight comic of all things, things will change. Because I know there's a lot more Dewi's out there than most people realize. Stay curious.

Comic Thoughts and Pictures Below!

I wanted to put here how amazing and sweet everyone has been with this comic. I finished a 75 page comic in 3 MONTHS. I am at a loss for words. That sounds crazy and it IS crazy. But man was it fun. Even on days were I wasn't able to draw due to fatigue or business, I loved working on it from start to finish. And guess what!? This is my first ever FINISHED comic :D I'm so proud of myself. I know there's some things I want to change and the art is wonky in most places...... but I'm content to let it be. What an amazing summer adventure!

I'm hoping to post the full comic on another Comic website. I may or may not edit some of the art ^w^ So I'll let y'all know when I release it.

Interested in learning what you could do to help your local insects? This is the basic stuff. Maybe make some Insect Hotels if you have the time!!! And never forget to spread the word about bugs. They need our help just as any animal on earth.
