My mom said some things to me about being the slayer. That it's fruitless. No fruit for Buffy. She's wrong.

literally please give Battison a Dick Grayson in the Batman Part II.
The first movie was about Bruce's journey from not wanting to be Bruce Wayne, to realizing that he does in fact need to be Bruce Wayne, and that Bruce Wayne can be a force used for good just like Batman. Logically then, the second movie should explore the next immediate question on the table: okay, he needs to be Bruce Wayne. So who is Bruce Wayne? What kind of man is Bruce Wayne going to be? Bruce still feels defined by his trauma of his parent's death. Bruce Wayne still feels defined by his parents' shadows, by his father's legacy. He still feels defined by his grief. How does he make Bruce Wayne be something different?
Dick Grayson would serve as the PERFECT device for Bruce to discover who he can be. Because Dick Grayson is literally just a young Bruce, and Bruce sees that instantly (it's why he takes him in in the first place). So throughout the movie, as Bruce tries to help Dick process his grief, he's inadvertently processing his OWN grief. Dick Grayson unknowingly helps Bruce process his own trauma, and through their developing relationship shows him that Bruce Wayne can be more than a recluse, a failure, a man drowning in his own head- he can be a protector, a friend, a parent.
When Dick points a gun at Tony Zucco's head, Bruce talks him down, and all the words that he gives him are words he had wanted when he was a kid and his grief was fresh. Even though they're gone, you're not alone. I understand.
BATTISON NEEDS DICK GRAYSON TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP OF HIS CHARACTER GROWTH.

When we think of Mario and Peach's chemistry in the games, any rescue scene is usually what comes to mind. But there's one bit of Mareach interaction I just had to talk about because it's honestly one of my all-time favorite moments with these two.
The introduction sequence of Luigi's Mansion 3.
Tumblr media
We see our characters on a bus ride, and the two of them are sitting side by side. Peach appears to be laughing at something Mario said, and they're both having a great time. All goes smoothly until Toad swerves to the right, causing the passengers to lose their balance and bump into each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It takes them a second to steady themselves, and the first thing Mario does as he opens his eyes again is glance at Peach with a smile. But it's not his trademark grin. His expression is quite softer than usual, and meeker too.
Tumblr media
Even rarer still: he then lets out a timid chuckle. Something I've personally never seen him do in any other game. He's being shy, bless him. Not openly flustered or delighted, but actually shy.
Tumblr media
And what does Peach do? She returns his smile with a bright and gleeful "Yahoo!". An all too characteristic exclamation that she has undoubtedly borrowed from him over time.
It's a very small and brief moment. But OMG does it say a lot about their dynamic.
It captures everything that I find so very charming and endearing about their unspoken affection, and it's a very good example of how I imagine those calm and blissful moments between them to be like. The moments we never see as players, but which are surely there as well.
I wish there was one instance where we got to fully see what a pleasant and peaceful day was like for them. But if this is the closest thing we're ever going to get, then I'm okay with that.
Because this scene alone is downright adorable and it makes me very happy. 😊💞

Speaking of caitvi, i was expecting caitlyn to have a redemption arc throughout season two finding out the truth and side with zaun with vi but nahhh 😭
s2 as a whole completely went against the message of the show. s1 was pretty firm about what its themes were — classism, police brutality, addiction, etc.
but s2 just throws away all that. caitlyn abuses her position as a cop and gasses the people of the undercity after she literally saw everything they were going through in s1. and she never truly understands the gravity of her actions or tries to right her wrongs. the most she does is help vi rescue vander.
all of the class conflict is forgotten so that they could do an immature “both sides band together to defeat a common enemy” which isn't even done that well. i've seen kids movies pull off this trope better.
i had so much hope for arcane because s1 made it so clear that they were going to address serious issues with the seriousness they deserve. it's not like spop or some other shows where there were tonal inconsistencies from the beginning because then, at least we know what to expect.
instead we're given a really strong first season but then the second one rolls around and it feels like the writers suddenly changed their worldviews or something.

i absolutely love that in the scene in memento mori, when they are talking about finding the cause of her disease, mulder says to scully: “there is a way, and you will find it to save yourself”, bcs he knows how important it is for her to be independent and how much she hates feeling like a burden (although obv she never is one to him)

do you mind telling me a bit of your writing process?
DAY 1: Have a piece of dialogue shoot through my brain like an arrow while in the shower. Let the scene play out as I rush to finish so I can get to a computer and write it down. Lose half of the conversation as I trip my way down the stairs and over dogs, and commit everything else I can remember while my hair dries stupidly in my head towel and I shiver because I'm wet and nearly naked and sitting in front of a fan I can't spare 2 seconds to turn off. Force myself to stop and go to work. DAY 1, 2 HOURS LATER: Have another half dozen bean bags of dialogue and prose pummel me as I try to be a productive member of society. Jot them down sloppily in my phone notes app. Go back to fill in between the snippets with a rough summary of what needs to occur between points A and B in brackets. Realize I just blew my entire lunch break hunched over my phone. My stomach is growling, I've missed 5 calls.
DAY 1, 8 HOURS LATER: Done with work, open up Google Docs and load my notes app snippets into it. Arrange the snippets into chronological order. Now too tired to actually write, go to sleep.
DAY 2: Get up early. Take the dogs out. Get coffee in my Be The Cat Grant of Whatever You Do special writing mug. Sit down in comfy chair with lots of sunlight. Open new Google Doc and write from the beginning of the fic, mostly ignoring the snippets and cleaning it up from my memory. Get nearly an hour in before work. Plan to continue the streak after that night. DAY 2, THAT NIGHT: Too exhausted. Do not continue streak. Plan to get up early again and lean into early morning energy to write. DAY 3: Oversleep. Dogs demand a loooong morning walk. Special writing mug needs to be washed before I can get my coffee. When finally ready, have 20 minutes before work. Do not get computer opened, no writing occurs.
DAY 4: Do not attempt to write.
DAY 5: Do not attempt to write.
DAY 6: Do not attempt to write. Accept fate that fic will never see the light of day.
DAY 7: Hear a song lyric that reignites The Idea while working. Feel dialogue start to bubble up like boiling water. Spend half of the work day jotting down rough paragraphs into notes app. Do nothing with them later that night.
DAY 8: Wake up energized. Write for an hour and a half, picking up from day 2's progress. Mostly work from memory of snippets to rewrite it clean/better, but occasionally reference the doc.
DAY 9: Do not attempt to write.
DAY 10: Do not attempt to write for the first half of the day. Feel guilty midday. Reread snippets from notes app and think, wow, this sure has potential. Do not do anything about it.
DAY 11: Think about writing. Decide to finally respond to messages building up before writing. Should take a normal person 10 minutes, takes me 4 hours. Open Google Doc at 9pm. Think harder about writing. Do not write. Daydream, wistfully, of how nice it would be to live in a future where the fic is written. Still do not write. Go to sleep feeling like a failure.
DAY 12: Do not write in the morning, but feel guilt-free about it. In the shower, get pummeled with the next piece of The Conversation of the fic. Rush through shower to get to computer and record as much as possible, yet again.
DAY 13: Dogs let out, check. Special writing mug, check. Sunny morning and nice breeze, check. Get 30 minutes of writing in.
DAY 13, LATER: Realize one massive issue with the concept of the fic. Lose five years off of life. Decide the fic is dead. For real, this time.
DAY 14: Writing? Never heard of her. Do dishes. Halfway through load, figure out how to fix the issue. Rush to finish utensils, dry hands, make it to phone to jot down The Fix.
DAY 14, LATER: Open Google Doc. Write for an entire hour. Fic is alive once again!
DAY 15: Do not attempt to write.
DAY 16: Do not attempt to write.
Repeat days 1-16 until fic is 70% complete, at which point hole up in bedroom and ignore everyone and everything until it's done. Proofread it until 3am. Know it's a terrible idea to post exhausted. Do it anyway.

SaL anon hear friend and you know what I find particularly telling about that certain group of fans and their "Eddie is abusive" bullshit take?? Remember way back in November when BT thankfully broke up and those people got all up in arms about it?? It was never "this is Buck's fault" or "this is Tommy's fault" it was always the "bad writing". The writers made the break up "come out of no where" and there was a whole writing campaign about how bad the writing choices were for a bland, bigoted character to be left alone, boo fucking hoo. Where's all this outrage at the writers now?? Where are all the posts about how the "poor writing" made Eddie unnecessarily aggressive and how bad it looks for his character and how the writers just flagrantly let "abuse" be forgiven on primetime?? Cause I haven't seen a single peep critisizing the writers about this episode. Instead all I've seen is posts about how Eddie is just "that way" and "he's always been violent" and he never treats Buck well, as if this is something the writers would actually intend for a popular main on the show. Why is the break up you could see coming from space "bad writing" but Eddie getting upset while he's grieving a clear sign he's an "abuser"?? We all know why.
10/10 no notes. You think the show that wouldn't even let actual racist, homophobic, misogynistic characters or shitty parents stay bad guys while not even bothering to show them being sorry for their actions and changing, is going to actively make a main character an evil abuser out of nowhere? On the "everyone makes mistakes and can learn and be better the next time" show? On the "both main characters are a little in the right and a little in the wrong in this argument between them" show? Please. It's so transparent.
#911#eddie diaz#my sweet nonnie friends#sleeping at last anon#anti tommies#anti tommy fandom#this is such a perfect example of their absolute bullshit#because i've had moments where i'm like 'mmm this is upsetting to me personally because of Reasons and My Trauma'#but i can always see what the show was going for and while it may not have Worked For Me i can see the earnest attempt#and the story they are clearly trying to tell because this show is....not subtle#so for them to be like 'this is upsetting to me personally so the show CLEARLY meant for it to be taken as abuse and for us to hate eddie'#is just...wild and ridiculous#also like...you were SUPPOSED to feel on edge!! that means the lighting and camera and director and actors are doing their jobs right!#tv is ART and art is supposed to make you FEEL something and that scene sure as fuck made people feel things!#and while you will always have your own personal feelings to bring to the table the show is also telling you what you're supposed to feel#the lighting is cold because we are supposed to feel the tension and disconnect and GRIEF. we are supposed to feel the isolation.#we see eddie right up in our faces because we are supposed to be seeing HIS grief. HIS guilt. HIS isolation. HIS anger and fear and pain#and all the while buck's body is at the very edge of the frame steady and unmovable in the force of eddie's grief#we are supposed to feel him taking that weight from eddie and that is the point when eddie steps away and we can see them both again#and see buck making that bid for connection to try and do what he always does and try and fix it but it's still to raw and real#and eddie's grief and guilt about NOT being there is hitting against buck's grief and guilt about being there and not doing enough#it's SUCH a great scene and so well done and people are being hateful in such clearly transparent ways#ANYWAY#may buddie kiss in the finale and those people fuck off for absolutely ever

to Jodie: do you prefer to be called Jodie, or bell??
I'm writing this as though it's just after the events of Cold War so late '81/early '82.
Bell simply watches you, carefully, owlishly blinking as she takes in the question that has been asked; it doesn't settle on her right, leaves a strange ashy feeling in her chest, as though she'd been amongst a blaze and breathed in hot smoke. A sense of anxiety wraps itself around her, tightly, before easing off a little.
Her voice is level, as her eyes shift to the pen she is twirling over her right thumb. It's a methodical, soothing movement, but takes precise thinking to keep the item balanced.
"I don't know," she replied, "Bell is all I have at the moment."
A beat.
"Jodie is... a nice name to have," she murmurs a little bit, a hint of yearning in her delicate tones, "maybe one day I'll get used to it."

Idea on the symbiosis for Quadrome, Grasstornis, and Kelenkick: All three share a symbiotic relationship
A Grasstornis provide berries for the Kelenkicks and the Quadromes
Kelenkicks provide protection for the Grasstornis and the Quadromes
And the Quadromes will preen the feathers of the other two bird pokémon as well as letting them know of danger by flying above the flock
I had seen Kelenkick as primarily carnivorous, considering it's inspiration, but omg🥺🥺 this'd be so sweet and there's situations here🥺🥺
A flock of Quadrome, a bonded pair of Kelenkick, and a big ass Grasstornis, all working together against the many threats ot the region... There's such fun scenes there

When I finally saw someone talking about how disappointed they were with the torture scene in s2ep2 I got so excited, I started reading it and oh boy, the reason the person disliked the scene had nothing to do with the reason I disliked it 😭
I think the scene is too vanilla, there's not enough "torture" imo lmao, and the person said they disliked the mere idea of having Loki torturing someone to gain information 😭
I completely respect this point of view btw, but personally, I love to see Loki indulging his mischievious side, I loved to see him toying with Brad and I wish he went even further with it, I understand he couldn't bc he's now the hero of the story and also, they showed the audience the difference between him and Ravonna, who later used the same device to massacre an entire group of people, we saw in that scene what Loki could've done to Brad, compared to Ravonna what he did was a harmless child's play and maybe that's why I wish he had done more lmao
I also loved how happy Loki was with the whole thing, he was enjoying himself so much, and even though Brad tried to get under his skin he couldn't, avengers Loki would have DISMEMBERED Brad for the things he said but tva Loki didn't really give a fuck about it and he had so much fun playing with him later, his smile while Brad is shitting himself in fear is one of the most beautiful things ever 🥰

Sometimes reading reviews of shows/movies with complicated/controversial characters makes me concerned at other people's lack of empathy. Or maybe I'm too empathetic 🤔
