How did he, a Dornish man, a Martell Prince feel when his king refused to touch his niece's daughter because she "smelled Dornish" while his niece was bedridden for months after giving birth to her? What was it like feeling his dead sister's hands on his shoulder, knowing that he was the only one Elia could wholly trust in this city far from home, knowing he needed to protect her or nobody else would? What did he think when Rhaegar named Lyanna the Queen of Love and Beauty in front of Elia, an insult to his niece, an insult to his house, to his family? What did he think when the war broke out and Elia and her children were kept as hostages so he would have to secure Dorne's support for the Targaryens? In his final moments on the Trident did he think that his sister would hold him accountable when he arrived at her side, ask why he couldn't protect her daughter? Did it eat him up from the inside to know that one day the Mad King could give a command that would harm Elia in such a way that he would have no choice but not to obey?

Jon Snow is quite literally narratively haunted by the dead:

His bio dad got his chest smashed in by his cousin's hammer because he stole his lady love.

His mother, he dosen't know about, died giving birth to him.

His stepdad got beheaded as a traitor, which set off the War of the five Kings.

His girlfriend died in his arms after telling him he knows nothing. ironic.

His sister Rhaenys was stabbed to death, and his brother Aegon got his head smashed in by the Mountain. His other brother/cousin Robb went out via Red Wedding style, as did his wolf, whom Robb likely warged into after his death, so technically he died twice. All of them died because of Tywin Lannister.

His two stepmothers (Elia and Catelyn) were brutally murdered on the Lanaisters behalf, with one of them currently haunting the narrative as the Walking Dead via Lady Stoneheart.

His grandfather, Rickard, was killed by his grandfather, Aerys, as was his uncle Brandon, which set off a rebellion.

His grandmother died giving birth to his aunt, Daenerys.

His uncle Viserys was crowned by his uncle Drogo, who later got an infected wound and was mercy killed by his aunt Dany.

His cousin, Rhaego, was killed by a Maegi during a blood ritual to save his uncle. Their deaths were later used by auntie Dany to bring dragons back into the world.

His great-uncle, Aemon, died on a voyage to Oldtown, which Jon sent him on. On his last journey, Aemon at last saw the truth. His last act was trying to send help to his great-niece, Daenerys, to bring her home safely and make her understand that she and her dragons are the only hope against the coming great war for the dawn.

And now Jon Snow is dead as well, stapped by his own man, pending to be ressurected.

Wherever you look, death touches this character. If Daenerys Targaryen is the daughter of death, then Jon Snow is the son of death. Death shaped these two characters into who they are today. It's also why Jon is destined to be the King of Winter, with his Bride of Fire by his side. Together, they will defeat death and bring about the dawn of a new age.

“Ugh. Quinn.” You looked over at your husband. You had just gotten sick for the second time that morning, and you were feeling worse by the minute. “Quinny.” You moaned painfully again.

“Honey?” Quinn woke up rubbing his eyes hearing you call out for him from the bathroom. He looked over and saw you haunched over the toilet with pale clammy skin. “What’s wrong?” He rushed over to your side.

“What do you think Q? I’m -” You were cut off once again by another wave of nausea, making you cough up the contents of your stomach once again. Quinn just sat there on the side of the bathtub holding your hair back, and rubbing small circles on your back.

When you were done, Quinn carried you back to bed. He didn’t need to take your temperature, he already knew you were sick and that your temp would be high.

Just then baby Beck started to cry, a ‘wake up mom I’m hungry cry’. You try and sit up only to have your husband gently push you back down onto the bed.

“I need to get the Beck.” You try to get up again, and Quinn pushes you down once again. “Q, please. I don’t feel good and my baby is crying and he’s hungry. If I don’t get him soon, he’s going to wake up Hattie and then she’s going to be crabby for the rest of the day.” You were starting to get a little worked up, you hated hearing your children cry.

“No you need to rest. I’m going to feed Beck, then I’m going to call in and tell them that I can’t come in today. I’ll check in on you in a bit.” The tired father of two rubbed his eyes getting up to get the six-month-old baby boy.

“Don’t forget that you have to heat the milk up with warm water.” You wanted to go get the hungry baby but you also knew that Quinn would be able to handle his own.

“Yeah. Yeah. I know.” Quinn mumbled walking out the door.

Mid Morning

“Hattie girl, what are you doing?” Quinn ask his daughter, who was currently coloring in one of her coloring books.

“Nothing.” She giggled looking at her father. Hattie had taken the stickers from her coloring book and placed them all over her face and arms.

“Trix, those are going to hurt to get off.” he looked over to her and saw what she was doing.

“No they won’t.” She continued to place stickers on her arms.

“Well then don’t come crying to me when it’s time to take them off.” Quinn went back to making macaroni and cheese for lunch.

After Nap Time

“Beck Elias Hughes, stay still. Why do you have so much energy? You literally just woke up.” Quinn muttered to himself as he tried to keep the baby still long enough to take the diaper off and put a new one on.

“I will pay you money if you stay still young man.” That seemed to get Beck’s attention because he sat still long enough for him to get the dirty diaper off.  He was just grabbing the new diaper when he felt something warm on his other hand.

“Dude. Really? I thought we out grew this months ago, don’t be like your uncle” He groaned quickly getting the new diaper on before Beck made more of a mess. The baby just giggled and smiled at his daddy. “Yeah you think that’s funny? It’s not. How does Mommy put up with you and all your silliness?” Quinn joked once he was done and washed his hands.

Before Dinner

“What would you like for dinner Trix?” Quinn asked the little girl who was playing with her dolls quietly in the living room. How he had managed to stay sane today while he played Mr. Mom, he will never know. But he made it this far and it was going good so far.

“Mac and cheese.” Hattie looked up at him and smiled widely. She loved mac and cheese. She loved it so much she could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if they would let her.

“No. You had that for lunch. How about we have pizza or something like that.” Quinn suggested holding Beck on his hip as he looked in the freezer eyeing all the food choices in there.

“NO. Mac and Cheese.” Hattie yelled, she was not going to give in. She wanted her noodles. Even though she had them earlier, she wanted them again.

“Hattie Beatrix. We’re going to have pizza. I know you like pizza. Why don’t you come over here and help me choose which one we should have.” Quinn just chose the entree. He knew his daughter would eat it, she wasn’t a picky eater, and she would like it.

“Ugh fine.” Hattie got up from her spot and trudged over to her father. She wasn’t too excited about this idea, but she was starting to get hungry. “Pepperoni.” She pointed to the froze pizza box her father held out for her.

Bed Time

Shortly before the kids were supposed to be in bed, you were starting to feel a lot better, and you had decided that you would say goodnight to the little kiddos and tell them how much you loved them. You had gotten to Hattie’s door when you stopped and heard the conversation that was going on.

“Daddy?” Hattie snuggled into bed.

“Yes Trixie?” Quinn came over to her bed and sat down on it.

“Can you tell me a story?” She asked rubbing her eyes. She was tired, but still wanted a nighttime story to lull her into sleep mode.

“What do you want the story to be about?” He was still holding the baby, who didn’t want to go to sleep either. He started coming up with fun little stories to tell his daughter. But the answer she gave her was the most surprising thing.

“Tell me about when you fell in love wif Mommy.” She yawned, but still looked at her father.

Quinn smiled. He loved telling his daughter that story. It was his favorite. “Well, when I first met Mommy, I didn’t really like her. I thought she was Uncle Jack’s  annoying friend. And if she was being honest, she would say the same thing. But Uncle Jack would say it was love at first sight.” He continued on with the story. By the time he was done, he had two sleeping babies. He placed a soft kiss on Hattie’s head, then he went to place Beck in his crib next door.

When he exited the he finally saw you standing there. “Hey you look a lot better than this morning.”

“I feel a lot better.” You smiled wrapping your arms around his waist. “Thank you for taking care of the kids today Quinny.”

“It was nothing.” He shrugged and placed he snaked his arms around you.

“I love you.” you smiled. You wanted to kiss him but you knew you probably shouldn’t.

Quinn kissed you not caring that he might stand the chance of getting sick. He didn’t care, he had everything he ever wanted and he wanted to show you just how much he loved you and appreciated what you did with that one kiss.

“I love you too.”

Who from the ghosts pasts would it be fun to meet

We get some good episodes of ghosts (Metaphorical or literal) from the main 8's past coming back. We have met some... interesting characters, and there are some more it would still be cool to meet. So I thought I would make a list of the ghosts and who from their pasts it would be fun meet. Note I do not necessarily know how this person/ghost would come back, I just think it would be fun to see them.

Thorfinn: I do not want anybody else from Thor's past. The arc with Bjorn was sweet, and I do want it revisited in season four. But seriously Thor's old crew were jerks who left him behind. Thor hasn't once mentioned Bjorn's mother (Thor's wife???) and given that he has canonically had at least three serious relationships since becoming a ghost, it is pretty clear he has moved on from her. if hey had to they could maybe do an episode where Bjorn is able to bring his deceased wife back for a day, and introduce her to Thor. That would maybe be fun since it forces Thor to be pleasant to a danish person.... But I also think it is pretty fun that Bjorn is with Judy (50's Hetty) now, and she has expressed that she is not cool with poly life... Hopefully one day would not upset her enough to break up with Bjorn.

Sasappis: Okay anyone who we meet from Sass's life needs to be in a situation like him and Shiki, i.e. haunting some part of the Hutson sally for 500 and something years. Because otherwise 1.) It has been pointed out to me that Lenape Native Americans of their time did not speak English, so we would not be able to understand them. 2.) Dragging one of his people back from the afterlife to show them how completely settlers paved over their homes and wiped out their culture would be to cruel a thing to do.

Oh bonus because I thought of it after making my Season 4 wish list. If travel based ghost powers can be extended to other ghosts, then I would like Pete to take Sass to see Shiki again, and for afterwards Sass to return the favor by taking Pete inside of Jay's dreams and all three of them to shoot some hoops together.

Issac: I really really want to meet someone from when Issac was a living. He also curently has the most options of the ghosts. Beatrice, of course. We see in the season 2 Christmas special how great a person she was and how much she and Issac meant to each other, regardless of their less than ideal circumstances. Also given that in season 4 Issac will have to once again come to terms with a failed romantic relationship (Nigel), and a female friend whom he wronged/hurt (Patience). Well Beatrice is implied to view him with no ill will, so it could be really therapeutic for him to reconnect and further reconcile with her. If she told him she did not view Issac as a bad man, then that would help him not see himself as a bad man

In addition to Beatrice, I would also like to meet Issac's best friend Edmund. The unnamed brother Issac mentioned who had a wife and at least 5 sons, at least 2 of which died as children. We do not know if Issac was ever a father, but I imagine he was a really caring uncle. Hamilton! Please, please, can we get an episode where Hamilton's ghost shows up for a night and Issac is once again faced with his more successful rival. Bonus points if Hamilton does not know who Issac is, or have any recollection of ever meeting him.

Hetty: So far every time a new ghost has shown up for 1 episode it has been one Hetty knew. Which I guess is understandable since the house is her families, and a lot of the old junk in it belong to people she knew. But honestly episodes of them are hit or miss. The two episodes we got of Elias were one to many, and he does not need another episode. I know some fans really liked the episode with the maid; but I did not like her trying to blame Hetty for things that went down between her and Elias. It is clearly implied that she and her husband were Elias's employees and that they were hooking up before Elias and Hetty's marriage. Also it seems like the pair where hooking up many years, so why wasn't her son grown up?

For People from Hetty's life that we haven't met yet, but could meet in the future: I would really like to meet her sister, Margret. Show me what their relationship was like. How did Margret's life turn out? How did she react to Hetty's death? It also would be really cool to meet that stable boy that she and Issac both found hot. In that case though he has to be bisexual, or maybe just gay. I said in another post I wanted Thomas to have become a ghost after dying at a neighbors. But that I also wanted him to turn out to be as dumb and childlike as Lenny from "oMaM". Basically please only introduce Thomas if their is going to be a distinct difference between him and Elias. If he is just a gay version of his Hellish father, than there is no point.

Alberta: Well if Thomas is a ghost she deserves to get to rip into him for poisoning her. On that note please bring Earl back for one day so she can do the same to him. Forgetting the fact that he cheated on her with the guy that went on to murder her. It is cannon that Earl cheated on Alberta multiple times and she knew it. But he was her manager, and she could not break up with him without being dropped, so she felt she had to keep looking the other way and forgiving him. But that is not true now, and Alberta deserves a chance to tell him off like Hetty did to Elias in his debut episode. On a nicer note it would be sweet if they could resurrect Alberta's father. She could tell him about how people are still listening to her songs to this day, and he could maybe recite some recipes for Sam to write down, and Jay to start cooking for visitors. As far as Alberta's sister, well the only thing I have ever wondered about her was if Thomas ever did anything to hurt her too, since she was Earl's next girlfriend. If we see Alberta's x-times great niece again she had better be a successful web singer, taking a trip to where she first got the inspiration to follow in Alberta's foot steps.

Flower: I do want to see her brother Robby, and her ex Ira, who are still livings. If Robby has children/grand children they should come too. For ghosts she has other brothers who we do not knows current status, also if possible it would be cool to meet someone else whom she maybe knew during her time in the cult and the commune. It'd be weird to bring Michael back, since she is trying to move on from him with Thor. I have considered the ghost of the bear that killed her. The issues with a apex predator would be wild, but also I am not sure how you would wrap that up, and it would need to be wrapped up. Where do you go with a ghost bear guys?

Pete: Please no more people from Pete's past. Carol sucked. Jerry sucked. Pete's dad sucked. He is implied to have been an only child. I do not know why Laura and little Pete would ever want to again visit the place where both her parents/ his grandparents died. Lastly I found it cruel and disgusting that Sam and Jay brought over one of Pete's former scouts and made her recount watching a trusted adult die the way Pete did. All because Pete wasn't willing to suck it up and help Sam&Jay the way he told Flower to. No more people Pete used to know. He can visit Laura and Petey himself off screen.

Trevor: So it seems like everyone from Trevor's life is still alive. Okay He died young, and has only been dead for 20 years. We have met Arty and learned about their Friend group: except for Pinkus they all sucked. I want to to hold off on meeting Pinkus again though, because I largely suspect Trevor will be sucked off after that and I am not ready to lose him. In season 1 Trevor mentioned a Nicki Fisher, a friend with benefits he had then , who he kinda wanted to be in an actual exclusive relationship with (Like he wanted with Hetty). But, later in that same episode, we learned she had a baby with another guy she had been hooking up with at the same time, so he likely would not have gotten what he wanted with her. No need for us to meet Nicki. I have seen some people suggest that Jeremy could come back and work on the lightening at Woodstone/Jays restaurant. One person even suggested he could meet Bela. I have no objections to either of those. One final thing I was thinking is that maybe one of Trevor's parents got engaged again, and want to have their wedding at the B&B. Then we could explore Trevor going through his feelings on one of his parents finding love again, and trying to come to terms with it to support them at their wedding... Maybe we could even have Hetty offer to attend with him as friends. If it is Trevor's mom I want both her boys to walk her down the isle.

Crash, Nigel, Nancy, Stephanie: If a secondary ghost has someone from their past show up it will almost certainly end in them being sucked off. Crash is more a seasonal gag than a character, and while the show can certainly get by without him, it would be really cheep to tease a character getting sucked off again and for it to just be Crash. Especially after pulling the same stint with Ralph in the season 2 finale-season three. With Nigel I have admitted in other posts that he is my least favorite character. He is a cheater, a gas-lighter, and an asshole. But I also know he and Issac are endgame. This split between them is temporary: they need to grow as people, and will eventually (season 5 hopefully) get back together and (again hopefully) have a healthier, more equal, and caring relationship the next time around. That's what is being set up. So give Nigel the improvement he needs and do not touch him otherwise. For Nancy 1.) I would hate to lose her. She is the best secondary ghost on the show. 2.) before we get into people from her past we need to learn more about her relationships with the other basement ghosts.

Stephanie is different though. She was just a teenager when she died. The fact that she needs to sleep most of the year means she can rarely take part in house shenanigans. All the other ghosts are way older than her, and largely ignore her when she is awake. While most of the other ghosts are revealed to have had really depressing lives as livings and it could be argued ghost-hood is their second chance; Stephanie potentially had a fun life and has a lonely and really depressing afterlife. If her boyfriend from when she was alive, or maybe somehow her mom, came back and took her with them to the afterlife... well that sounds like one of the more heartwarming stories of the show

“John Elias Mactavish was an honored soldier and a loving uncle. He did not however live long enough to become a husband, father or grandfather. He had the ability to light up a room, literally and figuratively, and had never failed to get every possible man out of any situation. You may not know him as a soldier, but I did, and so did the men sitting in the place of his parents. That fireball of a man was once one of my closest friends. I wish him the best in whatever death may bring.”

Gaz has shed a tear, and Price is smiling reassuringly and sadly at once. Ghost clears his throat and blinks back a single tear. Losing comrades was the sad truth about the military. He watched his best men get gunned down and there was nothing he could’ve done. This was different.

Ghost had watched, and had seen Price get hit. He could’ve made a shot, but they were just moving too much to risk it. He attempted to go over to them, but a Konnie got a hit onto his temple, knocking his steps to a halt. He felt a single wave of darkness fly over his vision and leave, simultaneously with a gunshot. The thunk of the body on the floor was met by silence as he regained himself.

Johnny, lying dead on the concrete, active bomb being defused, no Makarov. He doesn’t remember shouting out to him, but apparently it happened. There was an exit wound. There was an entrance wound. There was no shot of him getting up.

Price and Gaz had the bomb defused by the time the initial shock was wearing down. His pulse was zero, his breath was zero. Everything was zero.

Soap was dead. He couldn’t come back. Goddamit ghost still had the the killing bullet in a box in his room. He didn’t actually admit that to anyone.

His ashes (most, soaps sisters and the task force, as stated in his will, were to receive some) were spread in the wind and water off the Scottish coast. His dog tags are worn by Mari Finch-Mactavish, his Irish twin.

The world kept revolving after his death. Makarov's heart is still beating after his death, not for long, if Price had something to do with this.

Waking up from a coma is a jarring experience, especially when you wake up with a massive blind spot in your left eye, and extremely obnoxious tinnitus in your ear.

As far as he can remember he shouldn’t be awake. A loud noise, likely a gunshot was his last sensation he can remember. He can’t remember much else. That seems like an issue for a later moment, he was tired.

He dreamed for the first time since being shot that night. He dreamed of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. Conquest, a blonde woman, late thirties, strong souled and confident. She was his adoptive mother, after his parents had left. War, a tall man with a hat and mutton chops, he spoke rough but cared deeply. In this he was a father, his source of advice. Hunger was a tall, young, lanky man, a cap with some flag sat atop his head. A brother and a friend, a lover, but not to him. He could make any man, even the strongest yearn, hunger, and beg, for his approval, but John (?) didn’t need to beg, he already had it.

Finally, if not the most important but the most scary was death. 6’4, shoulders wide as mountains. His muscles had to have been the size of his head. He wore a human skull across his face. He was feared by most, not his 3 other horsemen, not soap (?), but everyone else. He told jokes, he showed emotion, he smoke cigarettes as well as vaped, at least on the field. He would sneak onto the roof with john and watch as mars, named after the god of war, aligned with earth.

These horsemen were familiar. The dream brought him comfort in times of terror.

He woke up officially to a nurse changing a bandage on his head. An IV was jammed into his hand and his arm was in a sling. His whole head hurt, waking up from such an experience like this one, this dream was bound to give him a headache. The nurse walks in front of him, he only knows this when she walks around to his right and notices his stare.

He can hear what she says but she does say something. Then out of nowhere a man guarded by two burly armed men and a doctor.

“Good morning six. I hope you can hear me. We will get you a hearing aid soon. We’re wishing you a speedy recovery.” The man spoke with a thick accent, Russian likely. He didn’t know who he was, he knew he could barely hear him and couldn’t see his right side.

“Thank-“ he was hit hard across the face. He hadn’t done anything yet to deserve it.

“The task force is not to speak unless asked a direct question. You will learn over time.” And with that he's gone as quickly as he appeared.

He, who was referred to as six, which seems dehumanizing, was left to think.

He had to think about this task force. How was he qualified? Is this military? Is he military? He was six, so who were the other five? Who is soap, and why dies he refer to himself as it.

The nurses came in once every hour and a half. He only had a tv with Russian sitcoms playing. The nurse would chuckle, check and change his IV, every 3 nurses they would feed him through a tube in his nose.

That tube itself was a problem, he would throw it up nearly every night. And then gag and tear up when they put a new one in. He stopped being audible when he received a clean cut across his collarbone.

The injuries received after he got there just added onto a list of things wrong. The most notable ones include, puncture of the frontal lobe, entrance and exit wounds, deafness (cured by aids), complete blindness in his left eye, titanium plate in his head, and a shattered collarbone.

He quickly realized that those were just the things he was told because they were operated on. He had a vertical scar across his forehead, eye, and cheek. These cosmetic things did not bother him because he was not allowed to look.

Six was released into light training after about a month of recovery in the hospital. By this point he was completely silent, never asked questions so he never spoke. In light training he met another guy, one who used bsl, which six understood without ever learning. He learned he was called eight and had a steel rod in both his legs.

These two were only one apart in formation so they were also one room apart. Eight was ever the luckier of the two, knowing he was in the British Royal Navy, but had his legs shattered with an ied in Kyrzakhstan.

Six tried to remember but was only met by the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Death called him Johnny, sounding increasingly stressed and worried with each call until he was screeching in agony. He disliked dreams with death.

Still that man, death himself must’ve been important if his damaged mind remembered him. The other horsemen were there often enough that he didn’t fear sleep. Only one actually riding a horse, which was famine, on strangely enough, a chestnut thoroughbred racehorse. He would pet and brush this horse. When he showed up in dream he’d know it’d be a full night's sleep.

👕16. Is your character's appearance more telling or deceiving?

Telling, honestly! Not that there's a lot of people to tell. He's a sailor, or in training to be one, so he's often wearing the uniform, or oceanic-themed outfits. When he isn't, he's wearing something unnecessarily expensive... and that's very very telling.

🌤3. What season would your character say they're most similar to?

Okay, this one is interesting because I think I would say winter, and so would literally everyone around him, but Maxwell? He may have to think about it, and he may even end up describing autumn instead. Something cold and crisp, that makes its way from heat and takes control regardless of what people want, but with the beauty of the dying leaves, and the deceitful comfort of holidays, family, and early nights. Shrug! :)

🌤4. Is there a natural phenomenon that scares your character?

The patron that his family worships takes the form of mist settling over an open sea, or soft, all-enveloping clouds that choke you and hide you from others. So, I think he'd be chill with those. Volcanoes?? Man I'm sure they'd at least freak him out.

🌤13. What element best represents your character?

It's funny, the train of thought I had here. Are we looking for one of the traditional earth, fire, water, air ? If so, water, probably. Smooth, cold, manipulative, vengeful, confident, and unpredictable. However, I also thought "the elements", like, outdoors. In which case, mist! Or fog, or rain. Then I thought about the Elements, from the hit show the Periodic Table, and so I thought of silver, or carbon. One is useless, doesn't conduct electricity, malleable, but expensive if kept pristine, and the other is dangerous, able to latch itself onto groups of other elements, such as oxygen, with ease and difficult to remove, but — again — expensive when formed into a specific shape (diamond).

🤝7. Who is your character most honest with?

Probably his uncle, Peter, by choice, and his other uncle, Elias, by accident. Peter is flesh and blood and shares similar motivations, ideals, while Elias has the convenient power of Knowing every thought that enters his dear nephew's brain. It sucks but it's life, and Elias isn't there half the time before his death, so it doesn't matter to Maxwell. I wouldn't say that he and his uncles are close, but I would say that Maxwell finds an irritating sort of comfort with people of the same mind. Maxwell wants to control the world and believes that the god his family worships, the Lonely, should rule, and Peter isn't eager to dissuade him... for obvious reasons.

🤝20. What would it take for your character to get into a fight?

A looooot... Maxwell is clever about the way he negotiates and mediates situations, making the fact that he is essential to any operations that he is involved in front and centre. He twists the minds of his companions (or at least, one of their's) into believing that he is absolutely necessary to their plans if they want to have any hope of rescuing one, preventing an apocalypse, and keeping themselves alive, as he knows the most about the fourteen gods and their various rituals and powers. He is excellent at keeping himself just useful enough, without doing too much, in order to stay in circles where he can see that his goals are achievable. It takes over a year for his patience with the others to wear thin! Plus, eventually, he is beaten to death with a crowbar, so he probably isn't very good with weapons anyway.

Well-written shifter AU with a great look at their relationship over the years (and Jason's death), culminating in a tensely-written period of captivity in a shifter fighting ring (which also has some amazing pit fights).

So apparently four years is finally enough time for me to read GOT fic again without being swamped by annoyance at the series finale - at least, as long as the fics are VASTLY AU. Which both of these stories are!

This might be a personal opinion but I feel like people associate Walt with Mickey a bit more than they probably were in real life. Mickey was created in group effort, by Ub, by Lillian, by numerous animators and writers, and he wasn't the only thing Walt did. Far from it. Why aren't the early Disney feature films talked about more? Or true life adventures? The stuff that Walt made when he was travelling?

This guy literally sold his name to the company, for the money to make Disneyland. So to deflect blame from the current CEOs or whoever, they of course use his name everywhere. He's as much of a mascot for his company as Mickey is, so it's not too hard to draw the parallels between them and believe they're a lot closer than they actually are.

idk, I just feel like you're mischaracterising him a bit in your metafiction project. He was many things, but I don't feel like he was an over-projecting parent. He didn't stick with Mickey his whole life. He probably put more effort into Snow White, the numerous feature films that followed it, Disneyland and EPCOT than he did with Mickey.

Lillian Disney herself used to say after her husband's passing that she couldn't discern between Mickey and her husband and that she about cried every single time she saw Mickey because she saw Walt

Lillian was even quoted as saying

"There was no way of discerning Mickey from my husband Mickey is Walt, just in another form"

Roy Disney during the opening of Disney World paused just before he made his speech looking out amongst the crowds everybody was confused for who he was looking for until he whispered to a cast member go find the Mickey character actor

Roy would explain later on saying simply

" I needed my brother there,"

And at the actual speech he said

"As you all know Walt is not here and Mickey is the closest we'll get."

And I could carry on with the amount of people that called Mickey Walts persona, he would take a risks with so many, but with Mickey he never really risked him, it's like during World War II when the propaganda films were starting to be made Walt legitimately kept Mickey out of those shorts because he didn't want him associated with war,

And then you add on top the factor for good 30 years in actual reality that Walts falsetto voice was the voice of Mickey,

This mouse was everything to him Mickey was his pride and joy everyone at the company knew that and I can tell you as a creator myself of over a decade how many of my own original characters I've latched onto and actually love like my own children,

Also you are highly demeaning all the work that Walt Roy end Ub did, you do realize they started out in a shed of all places, in the backyard of Walt and Roy's aunt and uncles house he did not sell his name to the company because the company didn't even exist until he along with Roy founded it and it even was known then as the Disney Brothers Studios originally,

Ub Iwerks even stepped out in 1930 due to conflict so until 1940 after the important founding years would he return,

Roy never liked entertaining like his brother Roy preferred business matters he let Walt do the entertaining, which is why he became the face of the company,

And the reason Disney World is known as Walt Disney World is because that was Walt's last dream the night before Walt Disney died Roy recalled sitting with his brother who used the ceiling tiles like a map to point to the different places and talk about the plans for Disney World,

Even up until his death Walter Elias Disney was working for the company working on yet another dream that he would never see come to fruition

The tumor was accidentally discovered they were x-raying for an old sports injury when they came across the tumor everybody thought Walt Disney was going to make it his own family thought he would be okay after it was removed,

That day December 15th it wasn't just a shock for the world it was a shock for his own family who thought Walt was on the up and up

So don't ever say that he sold his name to the company because he gave his very soul to it his entire life to bring us the entertainment that Disney became world-renowned for,

What other Owner would mortgage their own house because it's the last thing he has to pull money out of to bring the world theme parks Disneyland in today's money to build would be well over 200 million back in the day it was 17 million which is still a lot

Snow White was known as Disney's folly initially everybody thought he was crazy he literally took the unfinished film to the banks to secure loans for it

Fun fact to this day you can still find footage Walter Elias Disney bicycling through Disneyland while it was being constructed and he would stay on property to make sure it was being properly done and no corners were being cut.

And a few days before Disneyland was to open him and Lillian would celebrate their 30th anniversary everybody called on him to make a speech so he got up on a chair to address the people

Cole and Darcy: Rowden is TERRIFIED of Youppi! Like this happy child won’t stop crying the moment he sees that mascot

Jack and Kennedy: she gets to month six of the pregnancy and is still avoiding him but when she heard that he went and had surgery she wonders if she should invite him over to talk.

Elias and Gracie: Gracie got a busted lip in the game and Elias straight up went a bit bat shit about how the preds player put his hands on Elias’ girl.

Willy and Matilda: with him not being fit for game Matilda is trying to nurse him back to health through love.

Trevor and Blair: Trevor has finally accepted that Blair will love him if he was a worm. But now Blake wants to know if she would love him too. Blair now wants to change all of Trevor’s original answers to “would feed you to the birds”

Jeremy and Adelia: when the wags got their jackets Adelia wasn’t at the picture because she was working but then she thought she was forgotten until Moa pulled it out of her bag forgetting to give it to her.

Matt and Sydney: Sydney made a deal with Matt that for every game in the playoffs that he ended up back in the box that he wouldn’t get any kind of sex time until after the next game. She wants her brothers and parents to see him be more well behaved, but that’s not working too well…

Sidney and Camille: this woman is so excited to go tour around Czechia and when their daughter (I decided we give them a girl but if you guys think otherwise then let me know) is born she loves getting to take quiet walks around the city with her in Camilles arms.

Gabe and Jamie: Jamie got hurt in the second game and lost another tooth, but she scored another goal. So Jamie was definitely on FaceTime with Gabe asking if she was still pretty. Gabe remembered what it was like in Sweden.

Mat and Gabe’s sister: this one is more of a thought in general but I like the idea of her being a doctor. Mat was literally going through ALL the stages of grief though when he realised that she was Gabe’s sister (have we named her yet?)

Cutter and Lillian: Cutters family are so beyond pissed off that he hurt Lillian. Cutter had to tell them that he wasn’t going to her lake house that summer and therefore was going to come home.

Ryan and Ava: Layla has been laying between her parents as she crawls around the bed and Ryan is calling everyone to tell them how smart his daughter is.

Will and Bailey: Max is ready for the summer and to kick his little feet up at Lillians lakehouse because now he wants to see her new boat 

Drew and Erin: Erin and Drew have been spending most of their time at Lillian’s apartment making sure that she is okay.

Jacob and Ivy: Ivy is teaching Jacob different points within figure skating and honestly she’s never found him funnier in her life.

Ethan and Astrid: Astrid got to shave his beard today and she’s never been happier.

Luca and Aspen: Aspen and Sabrina were talking about how cute Gavin and Marisa would be and now Luca would like to return Aspen and Vivi because Vivi says she misses her uncle Gav.

Rutger and Emmy: Emmy has spent her weekend explaining to Rutger why they are on Lillian’s side in the break up.

Gavin and Marisa: Marisa got irritated because a girl kept on flirting with Gavin when they were still sleeping together so Marisa made sure that when he was gone for a week that he had his favourite pair of her panties and a Polaroid of them together in his bag. This man shares a room with Adam…

Nick and Fran: they are currently arguing over if they should get a cat or a dog. The boys are having to remind them of the time they looked after someone’s goldfish and killed it, they had it for two days…

Jacob and Emma: Emma got released from hospital and ended up spending a night back in her parents place which meant that she and Jack ended up catching up on life. She let it slip that she was in love with Jacob. But of course Jacob hasn’t been sleeping thinking that it was he who put her back in the hospital.

Seamus and Liana: Leigh has a new duck towel when she is done in her baths and Seamus doesn’t know what is cuter, his child or Liana’s excitement that it fits.

Jimmy and Tate: Tate went home for a couple of days without him and swore it was torture. Like this man had to go wait for her arrival because she was on the phone with him 24/7

Mark and Abigail: Abigail has been clingy all weekend after she got sick and Mark was lapping it up literally living for every single moment of it!

John and Maya: Auggie is getting to see his hometown for the first time and it makes John so happy seeing his girls get accepted by his family.

Umich Throuple:  Because Lucie was gone they spent the weekend in Ella’s dorm.

Steve and Lucie: Lucie made a mini road trip to see Steve and got to spend the weekend with him in his new apartment!

Will and Junior: when they eventually talk their shit out Will is so worried because she is so drunk and ends up staying with her to make sure she doesn’t do something stupid, but instead she wakes up forgetting they spoke.

Luke and Allie: Allie has booked her and the girls flights to Czechia and has her letter of transfer printed and ready to give to Luke! But for now whilst she finishes off the year he is in Michigan getting to spend time with the twins and sometimes take them to see their mom after lectures.

Quinn and Rouge: They had their first kiss after game one in the playoffs because he thought she needed to be rewarded for her goal.

Cole and Parker: Parker wants a dog, Cole said no. Parker is not very impressed right now.

Nick and Scottie: they have finally started talking to each other and have accepted that they are not doing okay and therefore want to go into some kid of therapy.

Adam and Sabrina: Sabrina has a mini tour this summer and Adam is gonna come with her now that they soft launched her album with a picture of his hand in hers!

Jack and Mila: soaking up the love and attention of their new born boy 

Luke and Isabel: Isabel is ready to go to Prague because her and Blair have already decided on so many things to do together and Blair hasfound a new little sister through it. 

Nico and Bianca: Bianca is trying to convince Nico to tell her where Timo lives so she can go irritate him, she has stopped crying this pregnancy, but now she wants a good laugh and knows that an injured Timo will do it for her.

Context Masterpost

Because y'all aren't in my head or my discord server, you're gonna need some context for my OCs. The upcoming story is an offshoot of my current DnD campaign, which has been ongoing for almost three years, so . . . lots of background to catch up on! Each character's name links to an imgur post with reference pics.

The story is primarily from the barbarian Ash's POV, after he's been captured by one of the party's main antagonists: Ozmund Greenthorn, a powerful wizard who was once in a relationship with Ash's current partner. (If you're familiar with the canon DnD lore/setting, some elements may sound wrong; my group plays a little fast-and-loose with rules.)

Character Descriptions:

Ash: Human(ish) barbarian, approximately 27 years old. He and his siblings were conceived in a tryst between his were-tiger father (in tiger form at the time) and a whole-ass female tiger. After Ash’s tiger mother died, he lived alone in the wild for a few years until he was found and befriended by Kane, a half-elf ranger who became a surrogate older brother/uncle and Ash’s best friend. Ash used to have tiger ears, a tail, and stripes, but he made a magical deal to give them up in exchange for a strong were-tiger form when he rages. He also made a deal to increase his intelligence by accepting what he didn’t know was a mindflayer tadpole—it should have turned him into a mindflayer, but he literally wasn’t smart enough for it to take hold so it just kind of chills up in his brain. His intelligence did improve some and he learned a little magic, but he's still insecure about it.

Evius: Tiefling (devil lineage, essentially) sorcerer, around 29 years old. He grew up in the brothel/temple to his devil patron which his parents ran. Being a “blessing” from their patron, Evius was somewhat spoiled by his mom and had a lot of freedom. As a teenager, he apprenticed under Ozmund Greenthorn to control and harness his wild sorcerer magic; this later developed into a toxic romantic relationship as he got older. Prior to the story, Ozmund had attempted to use Evius as a pawn to buy his way out of his own pact with Aunt Marjorie, the Fay Queen, resulting in their messy breakup and Ozmund’s quest for revenge. After a lot of pining and complications, Ash and Evius eventually became a couple and are still together as of the current canon.

Krumgus: Dwarf cleric of Asmodeus (aka Literal Satan, or Big Daddy Cool, as we like to call him). A stoic, deadpan guy with a love for food and calling people by the wrong name. He’s been a member of the adventuring party since the beginning, and he is arguably stronger than even Ash. One time, Evius turned him pink and made him smell like cheese as a prank. The party was on a mission to rescue Krumgus’ parents and the dwarven homeland when Ash was taken captive by Ozmund.

Nekane: Half-elf ranger, around 50-60 years old, nonbinary. Ash’s best friend, mentor, and family; when Ash needed a last name for legal documentation, he opted to take Kane’s. Their human mother was an apothecary from whom they learned a lot about potions and herbal remedies, but they never knew their father (who we later learned was Ozmund). Has an uncle from their mom’s side (Elias) who taught Ash some magic and helps the party from time to time. Kane is sensible and kind, never known to raise their voice or lose their cool, unless their friends’ lives are threatened. Ready and willing to kill a man for Ash.

Mouse: Elf artificer, 85 years old (about 16-17 in human development). Ash’s mentee/protege who joined the group after Kane took time off to reconnect with their uncle. She’s a typical teenager: stubborn, mischievous, likes to use flesh and bones to make things. She has a curse that turned her arm skeletal and is slowly progressing. A bit naive and ditzy, but a fiercely loyal friend. (Played by the same player as Kane)

Ozmund Greenthorn: Elf wizard, unknown age, major asshole. Fathered many children with the intention to use their life force or talents for his own purposes. He is well-known and respected as a magic user and community member wherever he goes. He is indebted to Aunt Marjorie, who gave him power in exchange for his soul. Ozmund thinks of himself as the smartest person in the room and deserving of anything he wants. He loathes Ash for interfering with him and Evius—he sees Evius as merely “gone astray” and that Ash is distracting him from his true purpose as Ozmund’s favorite chess piece. Although their relationship involved grooming and manipulation, Ozmund never physically harmed Evius or gave him any reason to suspect his ulterior motives. Evius was totally blindsided and heartbroken by the betrayal.

Owen: Human(?) fighter(?), unknown age. He just looks like Owen Wilson. Imagine all his dialogue in that voice lol. Krumgus called him "Bubbles" back when the part first met him, which annoys the hell out of him. He keeps coming back to life somehow, no matter how many times the party thinks he's dead. Truthfully, he's just as much of a pawn for Ozmund as Ash. Mouse was kind of fond of him before he betrayed the party and revealed himself as Ozmund's lackey.

The Story So Far:

Krumgus, Ash, Mouse, and Evius travel to the Dwarven Homeland far in the north after finding out Krumgus’ parents have been missing for some time. On the way, the party runs into Owen, Ozmund’s seemingly unkillable sidekick/lackey who had been sent to hunt them down. They fight him and, thinking he’s finally killed, Ash takes some of Owen’s armor. Upon arriving on the northern continent, they learn the situation is more dire than they thought, with a huge portion of the population enslaved and mind-controlled by a powerful magical despot. The group joins with a survivor camp and prepares for a battle, but before it can actually begin . . . Ozmund opens a portal to call back Owen’s lost armor, pulling Ash with it. With no information other than the sound of Owen’s voice on the other side of the portal and a huge task ahead, the party has no choice but to hope that Ash will be okay until they can get to him.

when did Tails become a wanted criminal? istg archie's timeline is bananas

you’re right about those bananas because the tails enemy of the state lore is kinda wacky wild!!

in terms of timeline, tails became a criminal in issues 178-179 which is nestled between a BUNCH of other crazy arcs (including my beloved tommy turtle sacrifice arc). however, all of the important context regarding HOW and WHY tails became an enemy of the state is a little all over the place. this is gonna be a long one

TL;DR: tails the fox helps overthrow a monarchy (sorta)

heads up i'm going to be spoiling most of the "tails enemy of the state" arc (aka House of Cards), so read it on your own if you're interested! it's a pretty good read

ok so the main thing we gotta start with are tails’ parents in archie sonic: amadeus and rosemary prower.

tails’ parents met when they both served in the military for the acorn kingdom, which is the furry monarchy that serves as the government for sonic’s home. they get married, rosemary gets pregnant with tails, and everything is going swimmingly for them until eggman (named julian kintober at this time), stages a military coup against the acorn kingdom and starts to take over the world.

eggman’s main resource in taking over the world is an invention called the roboticizer, which can take living creatures and turn them into mindless robots that serve him. unfortunately, tails’ dad gets roboticized at the time of eggman’s coup.

before rosemary is roboticized though, something kinda wacky happens.

both of tails’ parents get abducted by aliens, unroboticized, and spend the next 11 years on an alien planet without any contact back to sonic’s world. yeah.

(the aliens are called Bem, they're all scientists and have cute eyelashes.)

11 years pass, and our pal sonic the hedgehog gets lost in space due to Reasons and Events that would take literally forever for me to explain. during his funny little space adventure, he finds himself on the alien planet tails’ parents are on and is reunited with them!

while sonic is there, though, the Bem are hosting a democratic trial for a Bem scientist named Ceneca-9009, who is the alien that transported tails’ parents away from their home in the first place. she's being sentenced to death for kidnapping tails' parents and doing other science experiments related to eggman's roboticization that i don't remember the details of

shenanigans happen, sonic and tails’ parents save Ceneca from execution, and sonic gets back home (unfortunately without tails’ parents - his spaceship was too small). the most important takeaway here is, interestingly enough, the democratic nature of the Bem alien government.

remember, sonic’s home is under rule of a monarchy, specifically the acorn kingdom. on the Bem planet, however, their government functions through democratically elected officials and judicial trials. and tails’ parents REALLY like it compared to the monarchy they know.

eventually, amadeus and rosemary are saved from the alien planet thanks to the help of sonic, knuckles, tails, and tails’s wizard uncle named merlin. i will not be explaining merlin here i honestly have no fucking clue what his deal is

this is REALLY important for tails, because he lived his entire life convinced his parents were gone. in the archie comics, both sonic and knuckles manage to reunite with both of their parents, and tails finally gets that chance as well.

when tails’ parents return, however, it’s clear that they have something big in mind for the acorn kingdom, which is currently going through… a lot. the king, maximillian acorn, is having trouble with Old Man Disease which has previously endangered a lot of his royal subjects (like he tried to order mass genocide once sorta endangerment. dude kinda sucks). because of this, the kingdom is in a transition of power from him to his son elias acorn, who previously ran away to avoid his royal responsibilities. elias is just kinda bad at his job

with the monarchy weakened, the kingdom still recovering from an eggman attack that nearly wiped out their entire population, and two democracy-loving foxes back in town, it’s the perfect setting for a lovely little coup.

(i always get amadeus and elias confused - amadeus is the one with the eyepatch.)

amadeus leads an army of restless citizens to try and overthrow the government, but is very quickly imprisoned. meanwhile, there’s a lot of trouble brewing between sonic and tails for... a number of reasons. sonic insults tails’ dad, sonic had previously dated a girl that tails liked, and tails is kinda getting sick and tired of sonic’s bullshit.

so tails sides with his parents and helps break his dad out of prison, thus making himself an enemy of the state.

when sonic shows up to stop the jailbreak, he and tails have a McFreaking Showdown and yell about their feelings n stuff. meanwhile, tails’ parents go straight to elias acorn and challenge him to a duel for the kingdom.

then like two seconds later sally acorn shows up and makes them talk it out over tea LMAO

so yeah, the coup is very abruptly cancelled and the gang decides to create a democratically elected council to govern alongside the royal family. and oh boy does that constitutional monarchy cause some problems later

and thus concludes the tails enemy of the state lore. House of Cards is a good read imo and there are a lot of good character moments that i skipped over! i think the biggest takeaway here is that sally acorn is the only emotionally intelligent sonic character lmao
