i am... conflicted in my feelings about The Queens of Innis Lear and i want to write a review but i don’t even know where i would begin or how
#thank fuck i dont do ratings and this is exactly why lmao#readaction#readactions#the queens of innis lear#im just... so#like okay so the mom was a black woman come from the third kingdom to marry this white man right#so her kids are biracial#and they happen to be the only black people in this entire island#(except the uncle/brother who occasionally stopped by)#and nice our protags are all black women right great#but 1) gaela (the darkest in skin color of them all) also happened to be the one who was described as ‘born angry’#and whose anger was never properly justified just that she was so#and SPOILER!#literally all the following tags will be spoilers dont read im just venting but if you do dont say i didn’t warn you lol#2) dalat (the mom) Killed Herself to protect the prophecy of her white husband?????????????????????????#so that no one may rise against him and threaten the throne like.... uh???? hello??????#on top of that like there were these two love interests for Elia one of whom was king of aremoria or whatever and his first goal was simply#to take her island conquer it make it whole with his country blah blah#and he wanted both Innis Lear and her as if she were something to be possessed#he lied to her about having a choice in their ‘partnership’#while the other one claimed to love her but literally all his actions showed Against it#aka killing her father or wanting to see Innis Lear burn or turning her sisters against her#AND SHE FORGAVE THEM BOTH????????????????????????#like bitch you’re not ‘kind’ you dumb as fuck#tho to be fair she also rejected them both in their pleas to her to come away with one of them#i don’t even hate this book i just can’t understand it#i don’t understand any of the character’s motivations even though it was over explained and continually repeated#like it Makes No Sense#im damn confused
