Dr. Zippety Wonderwhatsit (Just "Zip" for short) was not a generated name, it was handcrafted. "Dr." because I like mad doctor characters, "Zippety" somewhat in reference to "Zebedee" from "The Magic Roundabout", "Wonderwhatsit" to mimic when people say "whatchamacallit", and just shortened to Zip sometimes for peoples sanity.

He was just intended to be a Toontownsona, but has actually now become my fursona. In doing so he's replaced Fatlip, my previous fursona (Though I still cherish Fatlip, since he was made by an old friend I'll never see again)

Zip gets paired with a few of the different characters in TTCC. You've probably seen him with Buck Ruffler and Alton S. Crow, but Dave Brubot is the 3rd addition to his collection of Robot Wives. Zip is also paired with my boyfriends Toon "Cap'n Snappy Gigglesnout". With this, I hope it's obvious Zip is polyamorous!!

Zip does have a sibling, my sisters Toon "Little Pearl" (the kiwi). Though to explain why they're different species and still related? TL;DR what happens when a toon and a cog fall in love + headcanons on how Toons are "born" (drawn into existence) and Zip is the result of a joke, Little Pearl had more thought.

The first gags Zip had were "squirt" and "drop". For Clash players you're probably screaming at the top of your lungs for this combo and in my defence: I thought it was really funny.

Zip has influenced both my internet and irl life. During my last hospitalisation I had "toontown fixation withdrawls" and recreated him in Splatoon out of desperation. A little ramble: Zip is probably so intertwined with myself because of transgender metaphors. I've seen deers used as trans metaphors with the whole antlers thing, either losing them (mtf) or gaining them (ftm). one of the major themes found in both travellers and sa’din is masculinity and how it is performed. in sa’din, this theme is heavily explored in the character of baro gayang.

baro, whose name literally means “young man,” is the epitome of a family man. he is successful (completed bachelor’s and went to law school) and supports both his family and the government (currently working for the police/state). he is what every man should strive to be, especially for an igorot man. however, he lacks pride in his identity as an igorot (and even as a filipino) as his indigenous identity has pulled him away from the lowlander/tagalog centred, filipino identity. although he has successfully assimilated into this culture (speaks tagalog without an accent, accustomed to lowlander culture and catholic religion), he has resented his igorot culture for “setting him back.”

this is to say, baro’s identity as an indigenous man in contemporary society has set him at a disadvantage in life. this leads him to believe he is inherently inferior to his lowlander counterparts, and in order to “be the best,” he must abandon his igorotness.

he is unable to fully do this without abandoning his family, which is one of the reasons why he does what he does now. his family is traditional although somewhat agnostic (with some catholic elements mixed in). baro’s family still practice igorot traditions but has mellowed out in his father’s generation.

his real issue lies with individuals such as ceferino and kory; people who are proud of their igorot identities through and through. these individuals wear identities on their sleeves and would rather die than renounce their indigeniety. these people make baro question if one can really live a fulfilling life in contemporary society while embracing such a discriminated cultural identity. and it makes him mad—why must he feel like this while they can be happy? do you not feel shame?

ceferino consistently pushes against baro’s insecurities about his identity, making fun of him for “not being igorot enough.” (eg. cannot play the gangsa properly or can’t dance) every time, baro has to reaffirm his igorot identity to other igorots, even though he hides it in front of non-igorots. this theme of igorotness is written in the same way as i wrote their masculinity/manhood. ceferino is a proud igorot as much as he is proud in his masculinity—and he bullies those who cannot perform in these concepts as good as he can. on the other hand, the problems jun and nestor face come from them being from mixed race background (jun being 1/4th japanese and nestor being half black) and how this coincides with the igorot/filipino identity.

macarena and amboy show rejections of both traditional and contemporary masculinity (both being transgender—the main three also explore this motif albeit in a slightly different way).

this is why kory, a character who was born and lived in a western country, probably understands baro the most. they know what it’s like to live two-faced, to live an identity that is not fully realized due to the circumstances they reside in.

Someone told me the whole gaming and media industry isn’t needed and that they would be okay if the whole thing collapsed. I will explain why it is needed. People watch/play for many reasons. It builds serotonin. Entertainment and joy are vital in helping lowering suicide and depression.

And the media industry is one of the biggest in the US and it is hugely vital for the economy. part of the joy of popular characters like Batman and Superman are, to be quite honest, that I do see them in ways that people around me don't. it's weird, obviously I enjoy the stories or I wouldn't talk about them so much, but it's like, superheroes are so considered one of the basic Masculine Interests (even if often also nerdy or childish) & I can still participate in this interest despite being born a girl.....but I also don't have to play by their rules. I don't have to see these characters like they do. ok ok so i think arval eventually betraying shez was set up really well actually.

the game does a good slowburn job of setting up that at some point shez just doesn't care abt defeating byleth anymore.

shez and arval initially are united in purpose, partners in destiny, but when shez joins one of the houses and becomes an important commander in a war, their personal revenge starts appearing insignificant to them and is eventually outweighed by their newfound trust and love for their friends.

additionally as they realize the connection arval and their power holds to those who slither in the dark, they grow afraid of their own power. the power they got from arval.

in azure gleam (and other routes similarly, probably) their fear grows so intense after unveiling how much tragedy those who slither brought into their friends' lives that they ask dimitri to strike them down should they ever turn their blade against their friends.

and, yknow, shez themself wouldnt just kill their friends willy-nilly. "if i ever turn my blade on you" actually means "if arval ever turns my blade on you." by making this request they acknowledge the possibility arval would do this.

whereas shez's drive for revenge fades, arval's only intensifies. arval's wrath drives a further wedge between them and shez, who starts to feel horror at arval's intent.

arval likely regained some degree of their memory when byleth went sothis mode, as seen by how fucking mad they got even before truly becoming epimenides again.

so like yeah this plot development was well-foreshadowed. and i think the map where you fight shez slaps. absolutely banger moment.

howeverrrrr. after that. i can accept epimenides banishing the three lords to the shadow realm as a cost-cutting measure because every route needs to resolve the arval plot and it would be hard to justify doing it differently three times so whatever. have a convergence point i dont care.

BUT. arval accepts becoming epimenides as their destiny. "i was always meant to become you," they say. but like? shez doesn't? shez never seems to acknowledge that the arval they know is gone. this is why i expected arval to show up again! bcuz. shez doesnr accept that they are the one who killed arval.

throughout the endgame they will still occasionally reference arval as their friend and like. pretend talk to arval in a more "if you could see me now" type of way but

epimenides makes it pretty clear that they (epimenides refers to themself as a man so did arval legit just forget their own gender? arval has so much transgender swag) don't really value shez and them calling shez their partner in destiny just felt like mockery to be honest. like oh you're not doing what i want so i'm gonna take over your body against your will you peon fuck you. that's the vibe on epimenides.

and then you gotta ask yourself how much arval actually valued shez for them to just become epimenides without a fight? without hesitation? cuz yknow typically in stories like this the power of friendship will snap whoever out of it which is what happens to shez but not to arval. arval just accepts what they've become and they die for it. the end. fin.

again!!! arval accepts this!! shez doesn't! it's such a weird dissonance. ig it's kinda subversive that power of friendship doesn't actually save arval but it still feels like a rugpull.

Hi, just a quick note, this is a tangential piece I wrote in response to some transphobic shit my grandpa was spewing on FB because he saw Dylan Mulvaney on the news and didn’t like her.

I am not showing this to him until I am an adult And/Or He Does More Wack Transphobic Shit.

THIS IS DIRECTED AT A BOOMER.

If you don’t want this energy, just don’t fucking read it. I don’t have the energy to tone police myself or even make this more edible to you.

Here is your not-so-friendly reminder to some of us(take this seriously and do not get angry at me.) from a Gen-Z transgender guy who puts up with a lot:

People you talk about online or that are on tv or otherwise are, in fact, people too, literal real humans.

No matter the gender orientation, sexual orientation, ethnicity, political stance, or even class.

They can be an absolute hoe with an 0nlyF@ns and still be a whole human with friends and even a family.

They can say things you don't agree with and still be human(not necessarily humane, but that is another person who has to eat and sleep and use a restroom).

So, riddle me this?

Why is it that you absorb biased media that is twisting the real situation around because you don’t like how someone looks or their choices that bring them a higher quality of life?

That trans woman that spoke to Pres. Biden is named Dylan.

She didn’t want to figure out a more feminine name because she wanted to break a norm and advocate.

She has been transitioning for the world to see her joy, her understanding of who she is, since January.

I look up to Dylan, I do. She’s so genuine and sweet and she sets a beautiful example of a strong transgender woman.

I wish I could do the same for myself, and transition into a man the way she’s becoming a woman.

When I see you putting down what she’s talking about because of her identity, you’re hurting me in the crossfire because I am transgender as well.

If you don’t like her because she’s trans, you (by extension) are denying me who I am while claiming to love me.

Sure, I am only 17. I vote next year in November though, after I turn 18. I am literally almost an adult. I will be 18 for most of my senior year (only 17 days will be spent as a 17 year old senior).

Dylan was talking to Pres. Biden about trans rights, our rights, MY RIGHTS.

I am not going back into that closet.

I am not going back to living as a girl.

I could only dream of a world where I would have an easy time transitioning without the stigma, without the risk of losing my home, without the statistics of trans attempted suicides and all the murders committed against trans folks.

Did you know that 1 in 4 trans individuals attempted suicide last year?

And then there’s about 1.4 million of us in the US alone?

That’s about 350,000 attempts!

Wow, we’re learning!!!

Now, this hammer doesn’t swing one way, let’s swing another way and bring it back around to people you know.

What if I was one of them?

What if I was part of that statistic that I have memorized because…hey! That could be me if I was in a worse situation!

The main reason they attempt is because they don’t have a good support system.

That’s it!

That’s the one that is heaviest on the scale!

I started to cry tears of rage as I wrote this. I will likely see many of my friends die around me until I reach the ripe old age of 30 years old!

That’s the average life expectancy. For trans people.

Some of y’all have been very adamant in defending Harry and While I understand the sentiment of supporting your favorite artist, I need you to understand the criticisms that people are making in regards to the Vogue cover issue.

The Marginalized communities of Latinx Queer and trans people, Black Queer and Trans individuals (who have done so fucking much for the queer community) along with other members of the LGBTQ+ community, have been trying to explain the issues behind it, giving you historical context and explanation behind why the media hailing Harry Styles as a gender bending icon is an issue.

Instead, what you all have been taking away is the fact that people are mad because he wore a dress. You are cherry picking the facts and not thinking about the broader issue.

No, we are not mad he wore a dress, we are mad at the fact that he is taking credit for it by allowing the media to claim him to be a gender bending icon. It doesn’t matter if he never said it orally himself, he sure as hell has done nothing to refute the claim or bring awareness of the history of how these fashion styles came to be.

Some of you bring up the fact that he is unlabeled and to stop calling him straight, and that it shouldn’t matter what his sexuality is. In a perfect world, it wouldn’t.

But this isn’t a perfect world.

Just because we have the right to legally marry, we are still ostracized, discriminated, beaten, and attacked for being queer.

Let me put this perspective:

In 2020, it was reported that at least 44 transgender or gender-non conforming people were fatally shot or killed by other violent means, the majority of which were Black and Latinx transgender women.

Why the term at least?

Because often times these stories go unreported or misreported because of fear and discrimination.

Black and Latinx queer and/or trans people created gender bending fashion when the world turned their back on them, letting them die one by one from AIDS, when police were arresting them in the street, when they were faced with homelessness because they had been kicked out of their homes for being who they were.

One of y’all sent an ask and told me that I need to engage with people in real life.

Guess what? It’s the people I hang out with in real life that I am making this post for.

I have friends who had been attacked for being trans and for being queer and for participating in gender bending fashion. I myself have been physically and verbally attacked as well for being queer, Trans, and participating in gender bending fashion. I have friends who have been kicked out their own homes because they exercised their right to express themselves how they want.

Some of you do not understand how it feels to watch as a cisgender man-who benefits the most from fucking privilege-get praised for wearing gender bending fashion while you, on the other hand are attacked and ostracized for it

I hope and pray you never do.

Whether you want to admit it or not, Harry styles is apart of the majority, he is cisgendered and is not apart of this community. Yes he may be unlabeled but guess what? He has never said he was queer. He could simply say “yes I am queer but I am unlabeled” and he has not.

Why? Because no matter how much Hollywood or the music industry is “accepting” or claims to be, coming out as queer will negatively impact your career. But being unlabeled? That’s having your cake and eating it too. He can get the best of both worlds.

For those who say he is an ally, I ask this:

If he is ally of the community, as some of y’all claim, then why isn’t he giving credit to the communities that created gender bending fashion?

Where is this support for the trailblazers who made this possible? Where is the recognition?

Nowhere.

Where does it stem from? Systematic Transphobia, homophobia, Transmisogyny and racism.

Not one of the anonymous asks I got mentioned anything about the issue of the transphobia, homophobia, and racism at play here, which means one of two things:

Most of you don’t recognize it because you either benefit from privilege and are sheltered from it

Most of You do recognize it, but choose to ignore it.

Most of you, I assume, are teenagers and you will most likely not want to listen to me because you are uncomfortable by what I have said or don’t want to believe me.

Most of you will say that I am being harsh. But beating around the bush has gotten me nowhere.

I hope some of you take the time to think critically, to look at what others have presented to you and to put yourself in our shoes. I hope you try and understand where we are coming from. And if you choose not to now, I hope you do sometime in the future.

No one is saying you need to hate Harry styles. We are asking you to analyze what media is telling you and be critical of his actions. You can support someone and be critical of them.
