I love this show and it means a lot to me,

and I feel disappointed and a little bit misled tbh by the choices they have made-

These are two thoughts that can coexist btw

#911 lone star #911 lone star season 5 #like im not an idiot #okay i am but that’s not what this is #i was not expecting 20 minutes of emotional conversation #but bare minimum Tarlos is NOT a peck on the cheek with no actual dialogue #in the entire episode #bare minimum Tarlos used to be they would talk about things and it wouldn’t take that long #like this episode in context- this is like in season 3 is TK woke from the coma and the next scene was the 126 is going to be knocked down-#and we learn TK and Carlos moved in together form talking- we didn’t get the welcome home TK scene #this is like if in season two after TK stormed out after the farmers market- we never got the scene where he comes back #we see him storm out and the next episode they’re fine with nothing in between #this like is if the police station scene never happened - cause why do we need to see them talk about things?#TK storms out of Carlos’s place and the next we see they’re at darts-#cause we didn’t need any of that emotional bonding stuff right??#this is most like in season two when we see things get physical becuase Gabriel arrested Owen and no one knows why #and the next we see TK is coming home and we never saw them talk about it #although I would still argue this one is worse #look I’m not talking for anyone but myself here-#but the reason I know this should have been more is because those are the standards this show has set #these characters needed to have that talk-#in particular Carlos has gone through so much seemingly alone the last twenty four hours -#there’s no reason we shouldn’t have seen them have that talk #like forget the fandom for a minute- these make believe characters deserved a better conclusion to this arc than this #tarlos #carlos reyes #tk strand #okay im done #court dismissed - bring in the dancing lobsters

#movies film cinema #zero day #ben coccio #I actually talked to the director on Facebook super nice guy and he told #me a lot about the filmmaking process and even helped me with tips on directing non-actors and new actors #I remember him telling me to always be supportive and tell your new actors they're doing a good job even if they aren't in the first take #cause you can instill confidence and still reshape and change their choices and mistakes later #Sometimes I'd message him for advice when I was running into problems on some of my early projects #he told me once ''did ya choose to collaborate with this actor cause you were lonely or you guys had passion and chemistry''#“collaborating is like a relationship” and he was so right #there's nothing worse than working with people you disdain cause there's no communication and no trust.#he told me how he wrote the first couple of drafts of Place Beyond the Pines but his take on the 3rd act wasn't clicking for the director #so he took the script and went and had another writer rewrite the 3rd act but he liked the process cause he learned a lot and still got pai #but I'd still like to see Ben Coccio's take on Place Beyond The Pines he says the 1st and 2nd act are mostly unchanged #Ryan Gosling's scenes are still mostly the same he said but he couldn't tell me too much cause of the NDA he signed #The bloopers of Zero Day are hilarious his tip he gave me about being supportive #“This is actually great but can we-” and Cal interrupts him “He says that no matter what if you're doing good or bad!” and everyone lols #I hope I can make it and ask him to collab with me on a script #He's such a nice dude compared to the harrowing film he made.#I wish there was BTS but he had only one tape to film on and this was made when digital camcorders were infants #I think he had only one 2 hour tape that's how low budget #The bloopers is just Cal or Andre secretly filming and Ben getting annoyed “Is it recording?” and Cal going “Nah..."#Cal is such a funny guy IRL I wanna see him act more cause he's so good. He was so great at playing a sadistic psychopath in this.#the final shooting is so harrowing and disturbing #I told Ben he srsly gut punched me/disturbed me and this is what made him really open up.

pls stop characterizing viktor as angry and violent i s2g fdsgfgdfh

#i just - does half the fandom realize viktor's the most pacificist character in the show...#he doesn't insult people. he never wishes violence on anyone.#i get sad when people draw/write him as insulting jayce or yelling at people or hitting people with his cane #that's literally not who he's shown to be as a fundamental part of his character and his arc #he doesn't lash out. he curls inwards #he's witty and dry and sometimes guarded and stressed because he's literally going through horrible things but he's never violent #he's only shown EVER wanting to help people. make life flourish. grow things. STOP violence #the only time we see him act aggressively is the council room scene for that brief chokehold and again as machine herald in the chokehold #specifically both times as a way to subdue and restrain jayce from hurting him back and hold him in place so he can enact smth #(I still don't think his intent in the council room was to kill jayce. it makes zero sense. and MH was holding him to get him up the tower)#just..................why do you look at this gentle polite fundamentally compassionate character and see someone with a snap temper #while im at it. look i respect yall dom viktor truthers who am i to get in anyone's way but like #there is a big difference between craving control over your own life and circumstances and craving control over others #yes viktor desires control but i just. dont see that translating over. idk. sorry.#which there's a discussion to be had about arcane herald viktor there and the glorious evolution itself #because despite his ascension to godhood he's never actually framed as wanting to be worshipped like a king or a god #ultimately yes he desires to remove control from the human race but... hard to explain but like. he doesn't try to take it for himself?#he thinks he's freeing everyone. not to bow down to him but to find peace and connection with each other and with him #partially because he's so fucking lonely. his ascension is framed as enlightenment not a power grab.#his very evolution framed almost as unwilling. a resignation of a burden he must shoulder to be the one to fix things alone #but of course you have the influence of the power-hungry hexcore at play which distorts viktor's altruistic motives so. there's that.#anyway this is tangential to the main point which simply was 'stop making viktor angry and rude he's literally not like that in canon'

(also she's an oc inspired by @paranormal-peri like Valentine is. tho I mostly made her to give Valentine a friend at work, the two of them are besties :3)

A scientist at a paranormal institute, she's passionate about her work and treating her test subjects with decency. Energetic, loud, and creative, June tends to scary off or piss off her fellow scientists and works alone because of that. Well, except for Valentine. He doesn't mind their antics. She pursues the paranormal after their twin sister's death, as her sister was pursuing it before she died. June also studies it to try and find out why she feels like there's gaps in their memory, why looking at clown dolls and confetti poppers makes them want to sob for an unknown reason. And so they investigate the paranormal, hoping it provides answers to her endless questions.

(she had a fairy godmother that was shared with her sister but I haven't gotten that far into their lore. all I have is the fairy is themed around a confetti popper and liked clowns a lot.)

When Mortimer learns Manco is a fellow bounty killer...

He smiles softly, hinting that he's already considering asking Manco to become his partner.

Manco, on the other hand...

...comes to the same realization with a sour grimace. He enters full blown this-town-ain't-big-enough-for-the-two-of-us mode.

Manco repeatedly tries to instigate a fight as he attempts to kick Mortimer out of town. He steps on Mortimer's boots, punches him in the face, and-- of course-- shoots his hat.

Despite Manco's repeated attempts to provoke him, Mortimer never escalates the confrontation. He only reciprocates gestures that Manco introduces. When Manco steps on Mortimer's boots, Mortimer reciprocates. When Manco shoots Mortimer's hat a comical number of times, Mortimer reciprocates. Mortimer doesn't punch back, and he doesn't take the opportunity to injure (or kill) Manco-- even when Manco is at a range disadvantage.

This is noteworthy, because earlier in the film, Mortimer remarks:

"Why should a man walk around with a pistol and then let himself be insulted?"

Mortimer goes through most of his encounter with Manco wearing a calm, curious expression. Manco, meanwhile, seems enraged by Mortimer's very existence.

Why is Mortimer so unperturbed by Manco's antagonistic behavior?

Well! Though Manco clearly views this interaction as a skirmish against a rival... Mortimer views it as an opportunity to court a potential partner.

His smile from the earlier scene indicates that he wants to work with Manco. That's why Mortimer reciprocates actions instead of escalating them.

Mortimer's goal was never to "beat" Manco in their quasi-duel; it was to convince Manco that he was worthy of an equal partnership.

I believe that Mortimer began the night already fully intending to invite Manco up to his hotel room for the partnership proposal.

He just needed to shoot a hat to make it happen.

Busting a lung because the whole Joker Arthur thing was cringe as piss all, despite being one of the most beautiful healing times in my life. Still embarrassing cringe as possible can be.

#so here’s the thing-#and I am in awe of anyone who watched that episode who took those crumbs #and they were indeed literal crumbs and accepted it #but that doesn’t change the fact that we were robbed- and not just robbed #but the clip of Maya Rudolph at the Emmys this year where she pronounces robbed as ROB-BA-DAH #like explaining it here does no justice but I promise you it’s amazing #but we were told this is a big Tarlos episode #this would have a scene they couldn’t believe they got on tv- better than the second episode we were told #but this is the big Tarlos addresses their problems episode #and here’s what we got- one scene of them in therapy- almost all of which was released as a preview #like the only thing missing was the dinner scene #and also it’s unfair to say it’s such steamy scene when it goes nowhere because someone falls asleep #and the lack of context we have been given - it would have been better to jump right from the premiere to this one #because we were given nothing outside of the premiere to think they would do this #because the show doesn’t take the time to let us see these problems outside of one episode #like honestly this isn’t about TK or Carlos #because yes it’s like these issues aren’t easily fixed #but these issues should be addressed and especially since Carlos doesn’t seem like he would want to do this #and we’re told this in the 120 seconds we see of them in therapy #that it would be worthwhile to take the time to explain how they got there #but to say this is a big Tarlos episode - and their therapy scene is over before the title card #and to not see them together at all before they resolve everything #like we deserved more #we were told we were getting more #like to each and every fanfic writer out there let me grab you by the shoulders and tell you this #I wish you had written this season. I don't know if I ever read your opinion on this, but how do you feel about Armand claiming Louis asked him to wipe his memories, now that we know Louis only got back together with Armand to spite Lestat? Like, if Louis basically cursed them both to this loveless eternal marriage where they're both miserable, but he wont leave Armand because then Lestat "wins," I think it actually makes me believe Armand may have been telling the truth? Like Louis may be desperate for anything that allows him to forget this misery he's resigned himself to live with as penance. Maybe he even thought it could make him love Armand again.

If you had asked me before this episode i would have said louis asked for... Something? And Armand took the opportunity to dodge responsibility and ran with it. But now? Honest to god? I dont care.

If Armand wiped Louis' memory 100% premeditated against his will and everything I don't care. You trap someone who loves you while using them as a servant, holding their own heart fucking hostage against them, saying you love them when they know you dont mean it, making them beg for forgiveness, leaving them to clean up your messes, and then you tell them theyre not INTERESTING ENOUGH???? Weyoun 6 fanclub I am running at the clubhouse door at full speed

#🍏 watches ds9 #treachery faith and the great river #what was that #not sure why this hit me possibly harder than everything else in the show so far #and I went in knowing how the episode ended! and it still got me!#weyoun 7 going from excusing weyoun 6 as in ''well it's not entirely his fault since clones are defective every now and then''#to then soothing himself by rationalizing attacking Odo through deception #because the founders at large have to be kept safe dont they!#have fun living with that guilt for the rest of your incarnations! man can you imagne that if odo had died #and then weyoun 6 asking odo ''You care about them don't you?''#and odo says ''maybe but they still did'' insert rest of quote here #which somewhat parallels their first encounter in season 4 where weyoun 4 said ''They still love you''#odo responded with ''Maybe they do but I dont love them''#and you can spot the moment the gears turned in weyouns head as the runabout is on fire #it takes another hit for him to kind of snap out of his trance and use the fire extinquisher #he already knows he's doomed #also holy fuck weyoun and odo scenes always go crazy #weyouns expression especially #I keep having to rewatch their scenes together cause all the facial expressions and subtle changes are wonderful to see #that pause before delivering the news about the founders #the entire cave scene at the start #lone god and his renegade angel #also the B plot with Nog and Miles was really funny #and at the same time a nice parallel in regards to the episodes themes with faith #also something something faith in the great river #the founders are liquid #theres an essay there #damar and weyouns epic divorce is also going well #the headturn while discussing weyoun fives death lmao
