before peter had met tony, he had to rely on nothing but himself, his costume hand made and his web formula created in his school’s laboratory.

spider-man didn’t have a fancy suit with millions of different commands and safety protocols coded into it, he didn’t have someone to call when he got a particularly nasty stab wound or a mild concussion— spider-man couldn’t rely on anyone or anything but himself.

so really it shouldn’t be any different during winter. the weather was slowly getting colder and colder and it was obvious spider-man wasn’t coping well with the shift, his hands trembled fingertips numb while he swings around stopping petty thefts and low level drug deals; his ears tinged red under the suit, stinging because of the cold.

why the hell didn’t spiders thermoregulate? he could break down a steel door and catch a bus but god forbid he keeps himself warm, that’s way too unrealistic.

but he couldn’t stop being spider-man because of the cold— people were still getting hurt regardless of the snow or rain, what right did he have, staying home in bed, bundled up with blankets while people got hurt?

new york wasn’t oblivious— winter was coming and spider-man was struggling, his little quips and the back and forth between criminals and the police had slowly stopped and the vigilante looked like he was running on auto pilot.

a small group of people; local teens from a highschool decided that enough was enough and came up with a plan; they started knitting winter clothes that would keep their vigilante warm, because if he insisted on protecting them the least they could do was make sure he was warm while doing it.

the news spread around and suddenly, spider-man was wearing a new knitted beanie every day— different design scattered across the scarves wrapped tightly around his neck while he gives directions to an old lady.

god, the best thing was the heated gloves— they fit perfectly around his hand while giving his web cartridges space to work. his finger tips felt slightly better and the familiar stinging pain that would encase his ears had nearly completely disappeared, his headaches lessened and new york beamed at the sight of spider-man swinging around with new found strength.

and when spider-man finally meets tony stark who gives him a total upgrade — a real suit, safety protocols and thousands of commands coded in, including a very helpful heater— he doesn’t stop wearing the beanies and scarves, swinging around the city every winter with a new set of clothes every day.

ok, I've said this once before, but it needs to be its own post.

I hate the "Pav would be so afraid of horror movies" thing, cause I honestly don't think he would.

like would he be very easily jump scared, yes, but he gets more violent the more startled he gets, and he becomes the jump scare (don't sit next to pav if you don't want to get hit with something)

I think he gets mad. like every time some white person falls for the same cliche over and over and over again, he just starts yelling. or when people just do dumb things in general, he's just mad.

the only scary movies he can actually enjoy are slashers and horror comedies/romances that play into the tropes and actually have some substance other than gore for the sake of gore or heavily edited effects. he's here for plot and drama, he's here for a good time, not to startled out of his seat by a face coming at him from the shadows, he's here for the Scream series or those old found footage movies that didn't age well and are now just kinda funny to go back and watch.

pav is not a scaredy cat that needs to be protected cause he's a soft little uwu boy 💞🥺💖😣. he's a bitch (affectionate), he will throw a remote at the next "unnecessary" jump scare or stupid (white) person falling for the stupidest shit, he wants to enjoy your classic horror flicks, get a little creeped here or there, maybe laugh a little, and have a good time following the plot.

also also, he will pause the movie, even with other people watching, like the dramatic little bitch he is (affectionate, because I am this person too) and cuss out whoever he thinks is being stupid, even if he doesn't pause it, he's cursing someone out.

my hxh experience is also very confusing bc i started watching it like 2+ years ago at my partners apartment, but then i think we stopped for a bit / we moved around a bit, and kinda just never got back to it. then a while after we moved in with each other wayyyy later we eventually picked it back up and then this time in dub form bc it's easier for me to focus if i dont have to try and read everything quick enough and also see whats happening jfkldshg so it was like

so i forgot my ipad and im still in HK. but reading spider-man noir’s comic is such a breath of fresh air compared to spider-man 2099’s.

there’s a lot of weird reactionary ideas in miguel’s original run, and what’s even weirder is that peter david seems to know that they’re wrong… but miguel ends up having to accept those ideas because uh… reasons. ill use alchemax as an example. miguel ends up accepting the role of ceo after xina says “hey you can change alchemax for the better” even though every major plot event in Miguel’s comic and extended universe has pointed to alchemax being Evil McEvul Corrupting Corpo. but instead of destroying alchemax… miguel keeps it around? huh?

(hell, the original peter parker in the PS2 video game becomes the alchemax ceo and he’s EVIL. not just mook-level evil. HE’S THE FINAL BOSS.)

nope. now the kind preacher donating food to the poor is the bad guy, and the ceo of the Most Evil Corporation You Know, Ever, is the good guy 😵‍💫

meanwhile, the spider-man noir writers know that the corrupt government/people in the government are the BAD GUYS. they do not attempt to get you to understand their wicked ways or sympathize with them. they’re just like “hey here’s film noir spider-man and his aunt owns a soup kitchen. his uncle DIED during a leftist protest on a corrupt city government, and now it’s time to kick their ass in your uncle’s name and chew bubble gum. also your love interest is a hot speakeasy-owning milf who’s being coerced into a relationship. kick that guy’s ass too.”

like there’s no wishy-washy “have my cake and eat it too” storytelling. no shaming women for being sucked into a predatory relationship. the most important person in noir’s life is his elderly aunt.

so you should read noir’s comic. please please please. 🙏

unfortunately i'm chronically bad with DMs - they fire me up with such an inexplicable anxiety that makes me freeze up. i can't explain it and i wish i was better at it, but DMs are awful for me. i think maybe because it takes me so much time to form a reply and they wind up piling up because of it, and seeing all those messages makes me want to cry and hide underneath my bed. so please no DMs! it's the executive dysfunction.

i'm much much more comfortable in social spaces because i feel less cornered there - i've always functioned better as part of a group because it feels like less pressure on me to know what to say (as much as i love writing dialogue, i'm really very nervous in conversation when i don't know people well enough). in more open spaces i can vibe and just contribute when it feels comfy to do so.

I hope that, in light of his increased popularity because of the movie, that Miguel O’Hara shows up in more Spider-Man media. Like, outside of the Spider-verse movie trilogy.

I see him a lot in his white suit on random merch, usually in the background, but amongst Peter and Miles. Sometimes with Gwen and Anya too.

Marvel has had no problem de-aging characters for media purposes before. Peter has been aged up n down all over the place, and even Tony Stark has been de-aged for a cartoon before, so it’d be cool to see a younger Miguel heroing alongside Miles n Peter.

I could see a teen Miguel getting trapped in the past due to some plot-related future shenanigans. The implication of how he obtained his spider half would be more horrific since he’s younger, but that can be alluded to and left to fanfiction if needed. (But is important to his character and shouldn’t be removed or diluted!)

I just wanna see a teen Miguel having some fun with Peter n Miles (while still being our favorite sarcastic ass).
