7. Looking for an arranged marriage au for wangxian. Yiling laozu wwx, he and lz don't know each other and lz is initially worried cause of wwx reputation. Wwx does the marriage, but doesn't immediately trust lz cause he could be a spy/sent to hurt wwx etc. Specifically there was a scene where people came and attacked wwx's household, I think wwx was away. Everyone hid in the cellars only to realize a-yuan was missing. Lz goes after him and saves a-yuan from being harmed but gets badly hurt.

This leads wwx to realize he can trust lz. Wwx may have taken lz's sword away before the attack cause of a misunderstanding and lz fought to protect everyone any way. And I think another scene lz comes out in his night clothes and yells at a group of cultivators who had come to rescue lz cause they thought something happened to him and lz is like why r yall breaking into my house in the middle of the night and the cultivators (lxc might have been with them) were like this is awkward.

Parent Trapping 101

For those who haven’t seen The Parent Trap - a 1961 film starring Hayley Mills, also a 1998 remake starring Lindsay Lohan - here’s a little plot recap:  

A pair of estranged identical twins meet at a summer camp, having previously been unaware of each other’s existence. It transpires that their parents broke up when they were babies and, since neither wanted to see the other again, mum and dad each took one twin to avoid having to work out custody arrangements. The twins decide to mend their broken family by plotting ways for their parents to reunite and, they hope, fall back in love. Wacky Disney hijinks ensue. 

If you’re reading this and thinking “What an obviously terrible idea.” or “Their parents did WHAT?” - I quite agree. How did not one but two films with this premise get made? I don’t know. I do know that I have an irrational aversion to it. It strikes me as extremely conservative (something I am very not) to hinge a narrative on the idea that this couple would be better off together. Twin-splitting shenanigans aside, surely two people who made each other so unhappy are better off apart? Sometimes divorce really is the best option. One we’re frankly lucky to have access to in the majority of the western world.

To be charitable I should say that in both stories the parents in question had married young and separated due to incompatibilities which had worked themselves out in the intervening time. The thing is, their kids absolutely don’t know that. The twins just think that forcing together two grown adults with a complicated and painful history of which they are almost entirely ignorant is bound to work out well. And that’s both believable and funny to me. I want to ride along in one of their heads for a while. See what they learn from the experience. That’s what this game is.

This is a game where a child on the cusp of teenhood tries their best to mend an adult relationship they are as yet completely unequipped to understand. You could play Jude’s World with the camp, Disney-fied tone of its inspirations, or you could play for realism and explore deeper emotions and motivations of the three central characters. Either way in this story reuniting two people who’ve made the heart-rending decision to separate won’t be so easy.

Not often. Earlier this year a commenter objected to a pwp being a pwp. Which. Dude. As a later commenter replied (so I didn't have to! blessings on their house!), the story was exactly what it said in the tags and summary, so take some personal responsibility and don't click on what you don't want to read.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. Slash, femslash, threesomes; vanilla and kinky; realistic and fantastical; first times and well-seasoned olds. I haven't yet written anything that would bring the antis after me, but that's the kind of thing that I'd put under a different pseud anyway.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Absolutely. Probably Elementary x Bee-Man Comics: THE BEST BEE FIC ON MARS.

Not to my knowledge.

I had a couple requests this year for permission to translate a story (both granted), but I don't know the current status of either project.

@phoenixfalls and I have a story we've been co-writing; every once in a while we talk about finishing it. I'd very much like to; I think it's great fun.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have a Twin Peaks x Buffy crossover that I quite like, but which I am extremely unlikely to ever finish. Every now and then I think of it wistfully, though.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Well-organized and precise prose, and strong characterizations.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Inelegant prose, and wobbly characterizations.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

An insidious trap, if your characters speak the other language better than you do. (With the exception of William Bush in French, they always do! Why do I write all these classically-educated assholes?)

My usual solution is to paraphrase the dialogue through my pov character, at whatever their level of comprehension is. After all, that's what the reader needs to know: what the pov character understands. Paraphrasing also circumvents the wild card that some of my readers will know the language and some won't -- this way, no reader has an advantage and no reader is left scrambling for a translation.

The comfort movie tagging meme I think @banashee you tagged me in yesterday reminded me that while both the 1998 version of the Parent Trap and the 1994 German version of it (Charlie & Louise) are on my list of comfort movies, I still never got around to watch the 1961 version of it... So guess what I just watched xD

Thanks again for tagging me, having a comfort movie idea readily available made today's being sick in bed a lot more bearable :D I mean, I already know the general plot, so it was kinda for sure going to be relaxing, and it was!

It's not going to be my fav version of Das Doppelte Lottchen, tbh the parents' romance was very cringe and at times to the point where I wanted to face palm and go just stay divorced and like, more than during the other versions of this story xD but the kids are very cute and fun! And the 60s outfits were fun to watch xD

...should I watch the other versions in one go to have a direct comparison? :D I do believe I shall!

First car? Petunia 😍 She was a 1998 Jeep Cherokee in gunmetal blue. Both of my younger brothers drove her before I bought her from my parents. She was a death trap with no passenger airbag and no horn and headlights that probably weren't good even in '98 and I loved her very much. I have lots of good memories with her.

First time on a plane? I was 7 and we flew from California to Florida.

First apartment/house/dorm/whatever away from your parents? It was a one bed, one bath shit hole that I shared with a friend from high school. We used a curtain to cut the dining room off and that was what I used as my bedroom. There was a cutaway that looked into the kitchen and it provided more than one awkward moment.

First cellphone? I saved up my money and bought a Razr when they first came out. It cost me a whole $50.

First concert? It was a local metal band in a bar that I *technically* wasn't old enough to be in.

First sport you ever played? Teeball. I graduated to baseball eventually, but stopped playing in high school when music became my main focus.

First career aspiration? I wanted to be a Pediatric Endocrinologist lol. (A very young auto-immune diagnosis meant that I was in and out of endocrine offices for a lot of my childhood)

and finally… tell me about the first time you wrote/drew/created/whatever something that made you think "wow". Oof. When I was about 14, my mom stumbled on some of my original fiction. She thought I'd been practicing my typing skills and asked what book I was copying. 😅 that was when I really realized this whole writing thing had potential. Unfortunately, all of my work up to age 16 was saved to floppy disc's and then lost in a house fire. I wish I was kidding, I really do. I've since rebuilt and improved upon the world I'd built, and still to this day when I delve into it, I'm really proud.

Last week I watched “The Parent Trap” (1961) Family/Comedy

On par with the 1998 version, sweet, funny, a good time, very clever effects where it was almost impossible to tell the twins were played by the same person, even if you were told beforehand. I liked this version slightly less than the 1998 version, it’s just a lot of little things like the fight between the girls where they knock over food (eww) way the father talks to his daughter, the way the mom and dad immediately begin screaming at eachother, the honey feet bear prank, ex. But honestly it’s up to preference whether you prefer 90’s flavor or 60’s flavor.

The Trees of Isla Sorna

There exist several versions of Isla Sorna. The Lost World film, The Lost World novel, The Lost World arcade, among others. One is Trespasser, whose jungles, plains, and forest were populated by Dreamworks Interactive in 1997 and 1998. Painted, rather than photographic, textures seem to have come alongside low-detail models to simulate a semi-open world environment.

Jungle The southern half of the island was covered using jungle-assets, as opposed to conifers, grassy plains, or mountain-tops. Broad-leaves dominate vistas and ridges covered in lush vegetation. Below are groups of trees featured within this. -Canopy Trees- The quintessential trees apart from palms are the "canopy" trees, perhaps meant to fill out a vegetative ceiling. Some pre-release material features light beams descending from the sun above, aiding this possibility. There were "split" and regular trees, most of which feature pre-lit bark textures.

-Cuban Palms- Also very frequent in Sorna jungles is the cuban palm, found as well following either side of Main St. at the north end of Burroughs. Simple in form, they project beautific eminence and steadfastness. The variety of models include dead-but-standing and fallen-over variants, as well as individual leaves.

-Royal Palm- Different from the cuban palms, this variety has a perhaps more lush appearance and dignified leaves.

-Hawai'ian Palms- Two slanted trunks and a "twin" combination claim heritage from Hawai'i. Whatever the truth of this, they do seem quite relaxed, with grey bark and darker leaves unassaulting to the eye. Bring your PH picnic chairs.

-Willows- Perhaps not especially willow-like in form, the willow tree does make an appearance in Trespasser. Coming in multiple detail levels, the ones with more leafage do seem somewhat close. If one can look past this, the peacefulness of the species may still be felt.

-TPalm2Trees- Similar in color to the Hawai'ian palms, these two trees make up an un-obtrusive addition to the southern flora. They differ by having fern-like or more-broadleafed leaves.

-Tall Palms- This wide variety (perhaps depending how you view them) of palms seems to be more common in older, pre-release images of the game. They are fairly simplistic in design, possibly with a less realistic appearance than was achieved in later models.

Swamp Not an official biome of Trespasser levels, there is a full set of swamp trees in the game, having been combined into the jungle assets well before the game's release. Industrial Jungle was meant to have an area of swamp after passing the central lake, but this location was never truly built in surviving builds of the game. -Swamp Trees JH- These two models are impressively tall, featuring lightly-colored bark and long skinny leaves. They may not have been used inside the gameplay area.

-(Small) Swamp Trees (+JH)- This set of high and low detail, cypress-looking trees were also meant to fill out swampy areas. Some branches feature hanging (Spanish?) moss, and the bottoms of their trunks appear suited to rest at supposed water-level. Leaves are either broad or skinny.

-Swamp Tree T- An additional cypress-looking tree with grey bark and a small, upright-pointing twig is found in Tres, however may not have been placed ingame. Its trunk is more organically-shaped; possibly its higher detail was the reason for its removal. It features broad leaves.

-Swamp Tree New- These dead plant swamp denizens never made it into surviving builds of the game, having come down to us solely from developer "Mystery Models". One wonders if more than one swamp was considered at some point. They mirror the forms of the regular swamp trees' trunks and branches, but have little-to-no living tissue about them. One, not pictured, even comes with a built-in deadfall trap, for Raptors or an unsuspecting Anne.

Plains The developers of Trespasser initially envisioned an entire, open-level ecosystem mirroring African plains, coming between the InGen Town and Pine Valley. At some point it was determined that this part of the game's vision was too much for the engine being built, and PL was removed. A small number of assets survive through developer materials. -Tree Dioca- These two bendy plains denizens don't offer much cover, despite Anne's wish in order to evade predators. They do make nice scenery, being a bit bigger than a bush and small for a tree.

-Serengetti Tree- This tree's textures are missing from developer materials we have, but their shape can be seen from the model found in the PL 3D Studio MAX scene.

Forest Finally we come to the Isla Sorna forest, populated with evergreen trees. It covers the northern half of the island, surrounding non-residential facilities and climbing up mountain slopes. The famous and once-lost Pine Valley was the heart of this biome. -Redwoods- These are the tallest and thickest of the pines and co. The bottoms of their trunks are so thick that a separate texture image is used for the lower portion to give more detail.

-Pine Trees J- These models feature a few long, thin branches. Possibly the developers would have put more branches on on these models if more ingame detail was permitted. It has a calm, feathery appearance.

-Blue Spruce- Not actually blue in leafage in its Tres form, black barked trunks support yellow-green foliage. It comes in two variations.

-Scott Pine- These blue-green evergreen trees appear to be seldom used ingame. Why the developers chose not to use them is unclear, although they have pointed tops reminiscent of older-generation models for the game.

-Green Pine & Pine Tree- Unlike the other conifers of Trespasser, these trees' scant foliage comes in the form of circular bunches, and not much of that. They have inward-slanted trunks.

-Dead Pine, Dead Trees L and H- Amongst the living trees are three dead pines, two short and one tall. Essentially black bark covers their leafless exterior. They seem under-used amongst the forest levels.

-Dead Tree- This very simple model of a dead tree occurs both here and in the jungle biome, yet may most resemble a dead pine. With greyish-brown bark, its low-detail limbs were evidently separable in earlier versions.

Together with logs, underbrush, grasses etc., these models make up the flora of The Lost World's digital sequel. Sadly many exact species remain unknown, but characteristic common themes in overall appearance abound. Too bad they are generally unclimbable!

Diana Way never wanted to be a mother. She knew it before and after the distinct, ill-fated twin lines appeared on the cheap tests she’d picked up from the drugstore. Knew she should’ve put an end to it when the offer was still reasonably on the table, before it was too late. It was a mistake, she’d realized, to tell her mother she was expecting. The woman begged her daughter to make her a grandmother. Looking down at the baby girl in her arms, trapped in a hospital room with her mother by her side and the father of the child nowhere in sight, Diana knew her first instinct was right. 

Olivia Way entered into the world on November 6th, 1998, a chilly, autumn day in Chicago, and Diana felt none of the things a mother should. No love, only a vague sense of resentment. It was a resentment that built the very foundation of the relationship she’d have with her daughter. Olivia, however, never noticed the lack of her mother’s affections. Whatever love Diana couldn’t give, Grandma Lottie gave it in abundance. While Diana kept Olivia at arms length, running out the door and widening the distance as often as she could, it was Lottie who nurtured the growing girl, who showed her love and how to love in return. 

Because the warmth casted by her grandmother was enough to fill the voids in her little life, a father became a foreign concept. Olivia never thought to inquire about him or the reasons why she didn’t have one, not that she would. She was young, too young, to know the ways in which children were brought into the world. Mommy and Grandma Lottie were the only family she knew, but then one day it happened. Diana and Olivia were walking out of the grocery store when he was walking in. He stared at Diana first, his eyes trailing down to Olivia before looking back up at the mother again. The woman’s gaze was steadfast on him, the natural scowl on his face deepening as he passed them by. “Who’s that?” Olivia asked, looking up at her mother as they crossed into the parking lot. “Your father,” Diana said plainly. 

Her father.

Olivia couldn’t wait to tell Grandma Lottie she had one of those. He looked a lot different from them, she’d tell her. Actually, he looked more like their neighbor Ms. Carol, who had blonde hair and blue eyes. Also, she’d tell her how scary he looked.  But the moment she opened her mouth and made the slightest mention of seeing her dad for the first time, Lottie’s demeanor changed. With a frighteningly stern, “You hush, now. Never bring him up again,” Olivia went quiet, nodded, tied it together with a yes ma’am, and cried.

They’d never talk about him again. A few months after her fifth birthday, Olivia was playing in the living room when her mother came home. “Where’s grandma?” Diana asked, and Olivia pointed in the direction of Lottie’s bedroom. Diana headed towards the back, but not before chastising her daughter for not opening her mouth and using her words. A few short seconds later and their lives changed forever. The scream that shattered the sense of security in the home was unlike anything Olivia had heard before. It was piercingly loud and devastatingly heartbroken, the kind of scream that comes from every corner of the body and soul. 

It was a stroke that killed Lottie Way. She’d been dead for just over an hour. Olivia thought she’d been sleeping. 

The sole responsibility of Olivia fell on Diana. The new transition into a different sort of motherhood proved to be more difficult than when she’d first given birth. And in time, Diana grew meaner, her patience somehow even thinner. Without Lottie, Olivia was left to face the full force of her mother’s indifference alone without a safe haven to turn to. More than anything, she missed her grandmother, often wondering when she would come back until one day she realized she never would. 

“What’s my dad like?” Olivia asked out of the blue one day. She would’ve sworn her mother hadn’t heard her if it weren’t for the way the unprompted statement made her pause, even if only for a second. Silence lingered too long, and Olivia knew better than to ask the same thing twice. The hopefulness she felt thinking there might be an answer nearly faded before Diana turned and looked at her. “Do you want to meet him?”

Two days later, Olivia stood excitedly on the doorstep of the unfamiliar home, wearing a backpack that nearly swallowed her with her little suitcase by her side. Diana pounded on the door, turned to her daughter, and promised she’d be right back. There was something she needed to get from the car. By the time the door opened, Olivia turned as the engine came to life and wheels screeched on pavement, watching as her mother drove away. “The fuck do you want?” The stranger at the door pulled her attention back to him. “My dad lives here,” The five year old said, trying to keep her nervous heart steady. 

Patrick O’Connor was a powerful man, and Diana was just another woman who’d gotten caught up in his mess – who got tossed to the side, like the others, when he was done with her. And she’d thrown her daughter right into the lion’s den.

But more than powerful, he was downright evil-spirited. The O’Connor household made the word hostile seem polite, and even on the best of days, it made Diana look like the best mother to ever walk the earth. In her new home, crime was normal, expected. Suddenly, she had siblings, half-siblings who resembled her none but looked out for her nonetheless. An obvious bastard child, still, who stuck out like a sore thumb. The childish thrill that ran through her at the sound of her dad’s Irish accent died almost immediately upon the swiftness of his harsh words. Nothing, however, was harsher than the weight of his fists. One of her saving graces was the fact that Olivia was a girl, and the beatings had been reserved for her brothers. Don’t hit women. It was one of the O’Connor rules, followed by: don’t talk to cops, don’t ask stupid questions, protect the family, and do whatever father says. 

Her other saving grace was Finn. 

Out of the other kids, she’d been drawn to him, found comfort and solace in him. By no means was he a sweet boy. He was a hell-raiser like the rest of them, and nine years her senior, but he made her feel the most safe in a time when she needed it most. But time progressed, and eventually, she didn’t need his safety net. Olivia had been indoctrinated, because after all, she too had O’Connor blood coursing through her veins. She barely flinched at the things she saw, at the things she heard. Hatred touched her heart too soon, but she knew better than to ever disrespect her father. 

By the time she reached seven, the only life she’d come to know shifted again. One day she was home, and the next? She was being taken away by Child Protective Services and placed into foster care along with her siblings. Why? Patrick O’Connor had been arrested for reasons she was still too young to quite understand. This was merely one of the consequences, something meant to save them from their unsuitable home. In saving them, the system’s lack of resources split the siblings up. Fortunately, Olivia had been put into a home with Finn. 

And as it turns out, some of the least desirable homes were far better than the environment they’d been brought up in, and it wasn’t even close. Sometimes they would stay at a place for weeks, sometimes even months, until a year of being wrapped up in the system subtly passed. Finn was getting closer to turning 18, just a year shy of it, but when that day came, he’d get her out of there. That was their agreement. That was the promise, but it was a promise that would be delayed.

Her foster parents got the call first, and reluctantly, they gave the phone to Olivia. Immediately, she knew something was wrong. Immediately, somehow, she knew it was Finn. With a tentative hello, she was met with an I’m so sorry so sincere it scared her. Shortly after, Finn was sentenced to five years in prison. 

It was the second time, the first since her grandma died, that she felt her heart break. She acted out the way hurt kids did, moving from family to family more in a few months than she had in the entire first year. Each time Olivia found herself in a new home, she sent Finn a letter with her updated address so he knew where to find her. But it wasn’t the same. She wanted her brother back. The letters, the phone calls, and the occasional visits weren’t enough. The world grew lonelier and significantly colder without him. It was their dad’s fault, she decided, choosing to let her resentment fester and blossom into full blown loathing. She was glad Finn almost killed their dad, Olivia had told her case worker. She’d just wished he’d succeed and gotten away with it. Later, she’d be diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. 

“I can give you something for that.” Gabe was her latest foster brother, a high school boy who’d been in the system even longer than she had. Olivia, twelve years old now and counting down the days until Finn’s release, was intrigued in whatever he had to offer. He pulled out what looked like a half eaten brownie. She ate it, too much of it she’d realize. After a panic attack that should’ve put the fear of God into her came the best feeling she’d ever felt in her entire life, and she fell in love with it. It was a feeling she’d spend the rest of her life chasing if she had to. 

Pot brownies turned into smoking blunts turned into taking pills she didn’t know the names of, nor did she really care to learn. Not when they worked the way they did, making her feel the way they did. So much so, Olivia even thought she might actually miss Gabe when Finn’s sentence ended. When the day came, she didn’t even think twice about her foster brother. She’d worked out a plan with Finn. As soon as he got out of jail and the coast was clear, he was coming to get her. She threw some clothes and a few necessities into her backpack, even finding Gabe’s stash in his room and shoving it into the bottom of her bag. All the while, she smiled. She was getting her brother back. The moment he pulled up, she was ready.

Angel O’Connor would be her new name. She’s chosen it herself. No real significance. There was an angel on a passing billboard when it was decided she needed a new identity, and O’Connor was a given. They were headed for Bradford Springs, a town about an hour outside of Denver. No one would even think to look for them there. It would be perfect, a chance for them to start anew. 

Then again, the fresh start was easier said than done. If middle school was bad, then high school was an impossible hell. Angel was a problem, and she knew she was a problem. Prided herself on it, even. The behavioral issues didn’t disappear upon crossing the state line into Colorado. In fact, they worsened with age, along with her affinity for drugs. By the time Finn could get a full scope of the situation, it was too late. They fought a lot, despite how much she loved him. She challenged him, pushed back, pressed his buttons, because what the hell did a twenty something year old know about raising a teenage girl? He was just as fucked up as she was, if not more, and barely an adult. Why did she have to listen to him?

But she did listen to him, sometimes, even if she didn’t want to admit it. Finish high school. That’s the promise Angel made to Finn, something he didn’t get to do – not the way he should’ve anyway. And though she barely passed, and though she showed up to graduation too hungover for her age, she walked across the stage in her cap and gown and got the diploma. 

After that, Angel began disappearing for weeks and months at a time. She’d up and go with no real plan, seeing wherever life decided to take her. She fell in love with the quiet roar of the ocean in California. She found herself in New York, in awe that the saying was true. It really was the city that never sleeps. She did some unspeakable things for her first taste of cocaine in Texas. And every now and then, when he crossed her mind, she’d call Finn and let him know she was still alive. In the times in between when she’d find herself back in Bradford Springs, she’d be a little thinner, a little more tired, a lot more covered in stick n poke tattoos she collected like souvenirs, but she’d always be happy to see her big brother. 

And then she woke up, 22 years old, in a hospital bed in New Mexico with no recollection of how she’d gotten there. She blinked a few times, eyes adjusting to the sterile light. She finally saw him, Finn, sitting in the corner of the room. Without having to say a word, Angel knew. She knew. Her friend made the call, back when she was unsure if the overdose would kill Angel or not. Clearly, it hadn’t, but seeing the tired disappointment on Finn’s face, she wished it had. 

When he dragged her back to Bradford Springs, she didn’t fuss or fight. Angel surrendered peacefully, albeit defeatedly. However, she wanted one thing to be clear. She wasn’t getting clean, had no intention to, and felt no need to lie to Finn about it. She would, on the other hand, be more careful. It’s been almost two years since then, almost two years since she’s been back in town permanently. Working as a bartender at Restricted Access Cabaret, ironically, is the easiest and safest bet, because at least there, someone can keep an eye on her and report back to her brother if need be. But she doesn’t need it. She’s being good, or at least she’s trying.

8. Hello good! This fandom is so big that I was wondering if fanfics were written with Lan Wangji condemned to live the same fate as his mother. Mama Lan was always a compelling mystery to me, canon LWJ was more in line with making her father's mistake, but then I thought about Mama Lan and went wild thinking "What if?" It would be a delicious avalanche of mixed feelings and strange curveballs for Wangxian to end up like this, considering their dynamic and how they are as people. #1. Detective Conan: The Last Wizard of the Century (1999) [8.1/10] This one has everything. The best music, great action, great ShinRan, and Kaito Kid being the slickest MF on Earth.

#2. Detective Conan: Captured in her Eyes (2000) [7.7/10] More great music, in a hard hitting, down to earth story where amnesia is treated properly (Unlike a certain Muppet film).

#3. Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire (2019) [7.3/10] It’s Bond, but with Conan and Kid. What’s not to love? Over the Top in the best way.

#4. Detective Conan: The Time-Bombed Skyscraper (1997) [7.3/10] Sometimes, you just can’t get rid of a bomb! Lots of fun, and very tense throughout.

#5. Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter (2017) [7.3/10] I never thought I would be so captivated by a card game, of all things! Kazuha and Heiji at their best.

#6. Detective Conan: The Rave Chaser (2009) [7.2/10] Conan survives a B.O. encounter because Gin is an ass to his own teammates. Also, Ran Bullet Dodge.

#19. Lupin III vs Detective Conan: The Movie (2013) [6.5/10] the madcap, Over the Top absurdity of it all is far more befitting of Lupin than it is for Conan, and poor Edogawa-kun is left to chase the plot for most of it.

#20. Detective Conan: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital (2003) [6.4/10] Shinichi disguising as Heiji is pure cheese. The K:RBAY tier CGI is the fly in your soup.

#21. Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea (2013) [6.3/10] Ran gets dunked in the Sea and is promptly forgotten about for half the film.

#22. Detective Conan: Full Score of Fear (2008) [6.2/10] A man rigs an opera house with 24 bombs, the first 23 of which pose no danger to the occupants inside. Haibara saves the day by coding via shittyflute.

#23. Detective Conan: Strategy Above the Depths (2005) [6/10] A good murder case gets interrupted by a 0 IQ move from Ran, and Conan only lerns she is in danger thanks to his Spidey Senses.

#24. Detective Conan: Sunflower of Inferno (2015) [5.8/10] It is long established that Kaito Kid is good at heart and doesn’t kill. This film will waste your time trying to tell you otherwise, until the villains reveal themselves.

Omg describe the parent trap au pls I'm begging you

AH! Okay! I've got five requests... means I have to do it XDDD

(bear in mind I had this idea before broken throne came out and we knew Cori and Shade were a thing)

1. Mare and Cal are still young, they're dealing with the ramifications of everything. Mare gets pregnant, they have twins. Their relationship sort of falls apart... and they go their separate ways, each one taking a twin daughter. Mare to Montfort, Cal to the States

2. Some years later (11) the twin daughters both end up at the same sort of camp thing (not sure exactly what's going on there, but they do). They totally hijack each other and end up being forced into an isolation where they only have each other. Then they realized: HOLY SHIT YOUR MOM IS MY MON AND YOUR DAD IS MY DAD. Then they hatch their "master plan" to get Mare and Cal back together. One daughter Coriane (Cal's) and the other Avery (Mare's) switch places, going back to the opposite parent in hopes that they will have to come back together to switch them back.

3. Shenanigans obviously ensue. And Cori realizes horribly quickly that Mare is dating someone... and Avery kinda didn't know about it. The guy (who is not Tyton because I Would NEVER slander that boi like that) is an asshole period. So Cori has to be a snappy little shit and tries to break them up. I just have this one conversation in my head where the guy confronts her and is like: For your information, I adore your mother, she's exactly the kind of woman I always dreamed of marrying. And Cori just leans forward and goes: and my mother's political and military standing wouldn't have anything to do with that... would it? And he goes from being nice politician guy to straight dick in .2 seconds and leans forward to day: listen here puss, I'm marrying your mother in three weeks, whether you like it or not. Is that clear? And once I do, I'm shipping your ass off to the Lakelands. And that's when Cori sends emergency message number 1 to Avery in the States who has been busy ignoring her panic because she's having the time of her life with her dad.

4. Anyway, Julian is the one that figures it out, cause he follows Avery after she runs out to place an emergency call to Montfort to tell Cori to hang in there. He makes Avery tell Cal and we get the cute scene where she's in his office and she has a little suitcase with her, and he laughs and asks where she is going when she buries her face in his shirt. And all muffled says: I'm going to find Cori. And he laughs again and says: I see Cori, so where is she exactly? And she just kinda sniffles looks up at him and says: In Ascendant, with her mom Mare Barrow. And Cal just kinda of looks up at Julian who gives him that little smile. And then he cups Avery's face, lifts it up to look at her, and says: You're not Cori.... you're Avery? and then he puts it together. They decide to go to Ascendant to switch them back. Cal is low key a wreck all the way there, and Julian goes with them with Sara because he's low key gotta chaperone his stressed out nephew still. (Little does Cal know that Julian, Sara, Cori, and Avery all planned it so that they go to the place Mare/Fiance are looking at for their wedding, without Cal knowing what's happening, and without Mare knowing anything at all.)

5. They all end up there, They get separated from each other for a split second and when they happens, Cal ends up spotting Mare getting into an elevator with her asshole fiancé, and she literally almost falls over leaning to the side making sure she is actually seeing her ex-husband and not a ghost of him induced by her low key guilt over remarrying (especially since who she thinks is Avery has been so very opposed to it). Then Cal goes up (mind you, he may be slightly drunk cause... it's funny in the movie, so it works here) runs into both the girls, and finds out Mare is getting re-married, and they try to convince him to stop it, but he won't hear any of it, and tells them he is only there to switch them back.

6. Cal goes down ahead of the girls, and is in the bar trying to get something to deal with the raging headache he has, and who does he run into but Asshole Fiance who is so freaking excited to realize it's him because wow, political ambitions to the max there.

6. Anyway, they go down to a garden and the girls are sitting there with Julian and Sara, and Mare is literally on the HUNT for Cal. She's so confused why he's here, etc. etc. Then she spots him walking down the stairs of the garden (it can be in slow motion while he's adjusting his jacket if you like 😏) and she literally runs into someone, and ends up in a fountain. Cal pulls her out, and she's just looking up at him shocked and confused, and then the girls show up and explain what they did and Mare's just baffled until she laughs and hugs them both. They sit down, Cal gives her his jacket and they talk for a second and Mare just says: I can't believe this... seeing them together, seeing you again... I just-- And then asshole fiance shows up and is like: FINALLY! There you are! Oh um...oh good, you've met! Honey, I was just speaking with him in the bar and um, we were talking about some trade deals, and um wait, I dont understand how did you two meet? and Mare... why are you all wet? and Mare just looks at Cal and goes: you're doing a political trade deal with my fiancé? and Cal's like: i didn't know he was your fiancé? And then Mare's like hahahaha how did we meet? How did you two meet? And Fiance just goes: Am I missing something here? And Mare going: hahaha this is one small world. Cue Avery popping up near his elbow and saying: Hey. And then him sniffing and going: hello. And then Cori popping up and going: Hi, how's it going? And him having a small freak out before Mare sort of grimaces and says: Um... did I ever mention to you that Avery was a twin? And he's just totally put out and grumbles: you neglected to mention that little detail. And the girls are more than happy to introduce Cal as their dad, and fiancé just goes: well, this is a small world. And Mare just awkward grimaces and says: and getting smaller.

7. Anyway, the girls make them go on a cute little date, and they sort of talk about why they broke up and why she left, and we get my favorite dialogue exchange from any movie every made and Mare says: well, I got on an airship to Montfort, and... you didn't chase after me. And Cal just sort of leans forward and says quietly: I didn't know you wanted me to. Then we cut to the next day, they're agreeing to send the girls back and forth between them for certain things, and then low and behold their trouble making daughters show up wearing identical outfits, and the girls give them their proposal. They will tell them who is who after they go on the camping trip. (Aka the one Mare takes Avery on every year in Paradise Valley). Cal crouches down and says: This one is Cori, I'm sure of it. And the one he's point to who is actually Avery just smirks and says: Are you sure dad? You wouldn't want to take the wrong kid all the way back to Archeon would you? And then they're forced to agree to said camping trip.

8. Cue my absolute favorite part of the 1998 movie, where we cut to the fiancé going: AND WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO FOR FIVE DAYS? STAY HOME AND KNITT? And Mare just turns around and says: listen, we're in a bit of a situation here. And then Cal's coming down the stairs from the Barrow's town house with his backpack like: 🙃 I have such bad timing. And Fiancé turns around and says: hold on, why is he going? And mare's irritated as all get out so she just snorts and says: because it's part of the deal... we go on this trip... together. And then Cal walks up and being the little shit he is says: is there a problem? And the guys just looks him up and down and goes: Yes, as a matter of fact, I'm not so sure I'm okay with this. And Cal immediately knows how to make this man's life fucking miserable, so he says: Oh I completely understand. The ex in the next sleeping bag is just... so awkward. And Mare just puts her head in her hand and Cal gives this guy his best sympathetic grin and says: which is why I suggest you go with them. And the girls in the truck are like: DAD! NO! And Cal's just like: No I insist. And then the guy is walking down the stair, looking for all intents and purposely like a jackass, and Cal's behind him, already trying to contain his laughter. And the guy gets in the truck, looking annoyed as all get out, and the girls are pissed, and Mare's just looking at Cal like: I can't decide if I wanna kill you or laugh with you. And then Cal just pats the side of the truck and says: alright have fun. And the guy kinda leans across Mare and says: I mean on second thought, maybe this isn't the best idea... I mean... I"m not much a... nature person. And Cal's like mock horrified and says: No, no you really should. This is a great opportunity for you to spend time with the girls and get to know them. And then he gives that jack as his prize winning, shit eating grin and says: Cause starting next week, they're half yours. And Mare just sticks her tongue between her teeth with her smile and puts her shades on and drives away. Cue Kilorn coming up next to Cal and smirking with him and saying; Oh I would pay BIG money to see that man climb a mountain.

9. The camping trip goes miserable, they come back early cause the girls create chaos and the fiancé leaves. Delivering the key line: Once we're married, I'm shipping those BRATS off to Tiraxes. Got it? IT's me or them, take your pick.

They come up the stairs to the town house and Cal's there (wearing super comfy clothes) and is mock shocked when he says: what happened? And the Avery just goes: we've been grounded. and Corie comes up behind her saying until the end of the century. And Cal's just like: why? What happened? and Cori says: we played a couple harmless pranks, and [insert fiancé's name] got a little upset. And Mare storms up behind them and says: Upset? A little Upset? Then she glares at the girls and then at Cal and says: But like father like daughters. You're grounding starts now. And the girls go inside, and Mare just kinda stays out there, fiddling with the engagement ring she took off and says: One day I'm going to have to thank them for this. And then Mare and Cal kinda of have a cute little conversation and then that night, they have their little romantic moment where they almost kiss, but then Mare pulls back. The next day, they leave. (At this point they weren't in Ascendant, they were in a smaller Montfort city near Paradise Valley). So Mare goes home. And once she and Avery get there, they walk into their apartment, and Cori's sitting on the couch, and Mare's just like: oh... um hello. And Cori just smiles and says: it took us about two minutes after you left to realize we were never letting you go again. And Mare's like: us? And then Cal comes out, and is like: us. And Then we get my Second favorite dialogue exchange of all time where Mare goes: so what now? Am I supposed to... to say that we're going to work all this out, that we'll... fall in love again and raise out children together and cry hysterically? And Cal just pulls her close with a smile and says: Yes, to all of that. Only you dont have to cry hysterically.

Then we get happy ending cause YAY the girls won and their parents are back together. Anyway, as you can see I've thought about this AU for far too long and I actually came super close to writing it but then decided, eh better not.

Hey there horror fiends, sci-fi fanatics, rom-com suckers, and fantasy lovers!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a really big nerd, especially when it comes to horror and fantasy. A while back I was talking with one of my friends about Octavia E Butler's novel Kindred, and how she is my favorite speculative sci-fi author. I was thinking about how much I would have loved to have been able to sit down with her and had a conversation with her. Then I got to thinking about a lot of other books I like, whose authors are still alive, but haven't really gotten the same love that other authors get which is a real shame.

So in honor of Black History Month I wanted to bring some attention to some amazing novels written by black authors who are still alive today!

1. Brown Girl in the Ring by Nalo Hopkinson. Published in 1998, written by Jamaican Canadian author Nalo Hopkinson, this story of afrofuturism is set in an alternative Toronto Canada. In this world, the government and multiple corporations have pulled out of the city, leaving it to decay. Ti-Jeanne is a new mother who lives with her grandmother (the local voodoo Priestess who everyone fears and respects), and is trying to figure out her place in the world. Unfortunately for Ti-Jeanne the father of her baby has pissed off his boss (the crime Lord who runs the city) and has come to her seeking help. Grandma uses her Voodoo powers to try to help solve their problems but things go awry. Do not ignore the simple plot. Hopkinson uses beautiful storytelling to really make the magic come off the pages. Full of love, betrayal, lost, heartache, and the supernatural this story really is lovely. Trigger warning, transmisogyny, murder, blood, drug abuse, torture, dead children.

2. Sorrowland by non-binary author Rivers Solomon. Omg I have so much to say about this book but unfortunately it's one of those stories where if you talk about it it gives the whole thing away. I'll try to keep it short. Vern is a albino, intersex, disabled, queer teenage runaway trying to escape a cult she grew up in. At the beginning of the novel we meet her in the woods giving birth to twins. She doesn't have much time to rest though because there is a fiend in the woods coming to get her. She spends a couple of years living in the woods with her children until her illness begins to take a toll on her and she is forced into going to the outside world seeking help. This book provides a realistic depiction of PTSD, what people who leave cults face when they go to the outside world, paranoia, racism, sexism, and healing. Don't want to give away too much but bonus points she ends up in an interracial relationship and nobody in it is white. Trigger warning, racism, homophobia, ableism, sexism, anti-black racism, Native American genocide, abuse, child bride, Christianity.

3. For All Time by Shanna Miles. Normally I'm not one for romance novels but I'll make the exception for this one. Tamar and Fayard are fated to meet each other in every reincarnation, fall in love in every lifetime, and each time their romance is doomed. Taking place across multiple centuries, various countries, and even on different planets, this story really was interesting to read. Tamar and Fayard are both likable but both very flawed people. It's not hard to figure out why things don't work out each and every time but at the same time you can't help but root for them. On the plus side their personalities are different with each reincarnation so they're not always exactly the same. When they start to have memories of their past lives can they figure out what they need to do to make things right or will they be forever trapped in this doomed romance cycle? Trigger warning, colonization, slavery, suicide, medical setting, bombing, death.

4. Remote Control by Nnedi Okorafor. This story was amazing! It reminded me of stories I read from the Golden Age of sci-fi. Poor Fatima has been on her own for years. She is death's adopted daughter and known as Sankofa to others. She searches for an artifact that gave her the mysterious ability to kill any piece of technology she touches and unleash a light that kills anything within her vicinity. Heartbreaking at times and genuinely charming and funny at other moments, Sankofa is a protagonist that the reader can really get behind. Because she leaves behind a trail of death, most people do not want her around, but at the same time she uses this to her advantage. She knows how to get people to give her food and shelter, if it means quickly getting her out of their Village. Reading the book the whole time I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her it's okay baby. The ending was one big, "Oh Fuuuuckkkk" moment for me but I'm not going to give it away. Trigger warning, violence, death, genocide(?), animal death, human cruelty, blood.

5. Felix Ever After by trans author Kacen Callender. Felix is a gay trans boy, who is trying to figure out how apply for college, his identity, will he ever find love, where does he as a black queer man fit into the white lgbtq community, and who the fuck outted him to the whole school? Full of love, heart wrenching moments, and a clueless gay disaster, Felix Ever After is a Charming coming-of-age story. I love the old man on the bus 😹 Trigger warning, transphobia, racism, poverty, homophobia, being disowned, drugs, alcohol, parental abandonment. Quick note* this novel was published in 2020 and includes multiple references to Harry Potter which I found odd considering jkr was a well-known terf at this point. Upon my research I found out that Kacen, the author has apologized for these errors and mentioned that all future printing's of the novel will not include mentions of Harry Potter.

6. Children of Blood and Bone by Toni Adeyemi. Book 1 in the Children of Orisha Series. Adeyemi truly has a talent for storytelling. I would honestly love to see a live-action adaptation of this book. As long as they keep it accurate and cast dark skin actors and actresses. A renegade princess, a prince who needs to get his head out of his own ass, a necromancer trying to save her people, and the loving big brother who's reluctantly been pulled into a adventure he didn't ask for. If you like avatar The Last Airbender you'll like this series. Set in the fictional land of Orisha, in this world magic users, known as diviners, are looked down upon and considered maggots. The books protagonist are trying to restore the balance of the world and awaken the magic of all diviners. Unfortunately the monarchy is not having it and is hot on their heels trying to stop them. The ending is an amazing cliffhanger. Trigger warning, death, blood, torture, gore, caste system, fucked up things happen.

7. Let's Talk About Love by Claire Kann. Biromantic Alice is a Charming freshman finishing up her first year of college and looking forward to summer break when her whole world comes crashing down. Her girlfriend breaks up with her for being asexual, her mom is forcing her to pick a major she does not want, and her siblings are reinforcing her mom's bullying. Alice just wants to sulk in her comfy pajamas, eat junk food, watch Netflix, and hang out with her besties. Enter the really cute new guy at work. If avoiding life's responsibilities were an Olympic sport Alice would definitely have the gold medal. Throughout the summer as Alice quickly finds herself on everyone's shit list, she begins to see a therapist to help her come to terms with her issues, starts to learn new things about herself along the way, and wonders if she is ready to open her heart up to love again. The book has a realistic portrayal of growing pains, standing up for oneself, and facing responsibility. It also confronts issues such as acephobia, racists microaggressions, and toxic family members. Bonus points, an interracial relationship that does not involve white people. Trigger warning, racism, acephobia, sexual harassment, parents overstepping their boundaries.

8. Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. What would you do if on your first night of college you see some mystic shit that should not exist? What would you do if the people you saw using Magic triggered a memory from the night your mom died? Bree Mathews is out to get answers and she's not going to let anyone get in her way. Not the racist dean of the University, not the racist cops, not the top-secret (racist) Arthurian Society that has been protecting the world from demons for centuries. But the further Bree goes down the rabbit hole, the more danger she finds herself in. I don't want to give away too much but if you like conspiracies and King Arthur folklore you may enjoy Legendborn. Trigger warning, violence, abuse, racism, eugenics, slavery, rape.

9. Zone One by Colson Whitehead. Normally I'm not one for zombie media but this book was not your average zombie story. The book is about survival. The story takes place a couple of years after "Last Night", and follows a man who goes by the name Mark. Well the novel itself technically takes place over the course of three days, through Mark's memories and the world around him, there are years of stories being told. Mark's memories are not in any sort of chronological order so it can get a tad confusing at times but ultimately it's about Mark's survival throughout the zombie apocalypse. Mark is a sweeper, preparing New York to become liveable once again while they're in their Reconstruction Era. As if the zombie apocalypse ain't bad enough, now people have the new government telling them you need money to buy stuff, looting is no longer acceptable, corporate brands are still trying to push materialism on consumers, and gentrification is back on. The audacity. Although the novel was published in 2011, honestly it feels like it could have been printed halfway through 2020. I feel like it is more socially relevant now than it was then. Trigger warning, it's the zombie apocalypse, there's gore, guns, blood, death, body parts being bitten off.

10. My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. A lot of people hate this book because there is no real conclusion at the end. Nothing is resolved, and there are more questions being asked than there are answered. I did enjoy the novel though. I hope there will be a sequel at some point to give it a proper ending. I think the book is meant to raise more questions than it is to be plot driven. Korede suspects her younger sister Ayoola is a serial killer. Yet instead of going to the police with what she knows, she has helped Ayoola cover up and dispose of all three of her ex-boyfriends remains. I think both sisters have their issues. Korede doesn't mind up until both sisters become infatuated with the same man. Not wanting to betray Ayoola but also worried about the safety of Tade (Ayoola's new bf) Korede is at a lost of what to do. Going into this book I felt one way but by the end I was like you know what? fuck them.

Farmer!Bucky x Reader

Summary: Small Town /Farmer Bucky AU // Reader leaves the city to go live with her grandma. She meets an attractive farmer and, no, they don’t hit it off.

You spend the rest of the day catching up and planning the week with Grams. You’d have your usual bakes this week, as well as the Henderson twins’ sweet sixteen birthday cake and scones for a housewife the town over who was hosting a tea party. Once it’s all been delegated, you and Grams sit on the back balcony of the apartment with mugs of tea.

You break the comfortable silence with what’s bothering you. “Grams. Do you think Bucky and I are moving too fast?”

She thinks for a moment before answering. “I don’t think it matters if you know how you feel about someone and they feel the same way. Your grandpa and I dated for three months before he proposed and we were married three weeks later. Some say we rushed into it, but we both knew what we felt and we were on the same page.” She stirs some more honey into her tea. You smile. 

Your grandpa was a distant memory for you--he’d passed when you were still young, but you remembered some things about him. He’d been a rancher and had several horses. The memories you did have of him were fond. He’d take you out to do chores with him-and at that time they were fun and you were more than willing. He spoiled you with hot chocolate behind your mom’s back and taught you how to shoot a gun.

“Looking back I would’ve married him in half the time,” she laughs. “Why the sudden concern about how fast you’re going?”

“I made a joke. I said he should get a dog and I’d come over more and he was like ‘You over all the time, come over anymore and you’ll have to move in.’ And then I choked on my coffee and there’s awkward tense silence and then he says he's joking…” you sigh, looking at Grams for guidance. She just chuckles at you. “Don’t laugh, Grams. We had this weird tense talk on the way back about defining our relationship and if we know each other enough and me not being able to see the future--”

“You never have been one to plan ahead, dear,” Grams interrupts. She catches your questioning look. “It’s true. You’d climb a tree effortlessly for the view and then all but lose your mind trying to figure out how to get down. You did things by the seat of your pants. But you always figured it out. You moved here pretty spur of the moment too, come to think of it.”

You chew your lip, “Ugh. That’s your cryptic way of telling me….” You pause and look to her to finish the thought. She laughs and shrugs, “Maybe it’s okay to not have it planned out. You two seem to have a good balance of making each other happy and being honest with each other.” 

You nod, but don’t respond.

The next evening there was a knock at 6:30 sharp. You shuffled down the stairs to meet Bucky, who was dressed in his nice jeans and a button up with a bouquet of lilies. Your favorite. 

“Hey slick,” he grinned at the sight of you. “You look beautiful. Got these for you and Sue,” he says handing you the flowers. 

You blush, “Thanks Buck. You look nice, too. Come on up.” You turn to lead him up the stairs, but he grabs your hand.

“Can we—can I just say something before we go up there?”

You nod, he sighs and runs a hand through his hair and you immediately think the worst.

“I really, really care about you. I’m sorry for how things went yesterday … I get what you mean about not seeing the future right now. When I was in the service, we lived day to day. We’d have plans and ideal outcomes, but then shit would happen and plans were just plans, so I get it. Nothing ever really goes as planned. I don’t need a label or a detailed plan for the future. I’m sorry I badgered you for one. I guess I just wanted you to know that I-I’m in this.” He waves his hand in between the two of you. “As fast or as slow as you wanna go, I’m in.”

Your heart thumps in your chest as his words sink in. You stand quietly for a minute, long enough for Bucky to start looking uncomfortable. “Bucky… I-”

“Oh hello James!” Grams’ voice calls down to the two of you. “You guys come on up, I’m taking the food out of the oven now.”

You see your out and start up the stairs, “Uh, Let’s go.”

Bucky sighs, defeatedly, but follows you up the stairs. 

Dinner was delicious, the conversation was much less serious with Grams present. Bucky insisted on doing the clean up--he made Grams relax and almost didn’t even let you help. When the dishes were done and dried, the conversation meandered until Grams let out a big yawn and bid the two or you goodnight. The silence that followed was deafening.

No sooner than Grams had shut her bedroom door, Bucky turns and asks, “Can we pick up where we left off?” You swirl the wine in your glass and nod slowly, but don’t answer so Bucky continues. “I’m in this. Wherever you want this to go and however fast.” Another stretch of silence as the two of you lean against the counter tops, it's getting awkward. “Are you going to say anything?”

“Honestly, there was so much of that with Spencer and then it all blew up in my face. I’m … scared to make plans again-- to have those kind of feelings again just for them to be ruined.” 

As you say it, it’s almost as if it replays in front of you. The initial swell of feelings when he touched you and kissed you. The late nights spent building imaginary houses and naming imaginary kids. But this time as the memories play back, they’re tainted. Soured with another memory, this one painful. You know Bucky isn't anything like Spencer, he’s proven that to you. 

As if reading your mind, Bucky breaks through your fog, “I’m not him. You know that right?” 

“Of course I know you're not him Buck-“ you sigh, planting your hands on your forehead. You had to make a choice and you know in your soul you can’t live with a life of what ifs. “So let’s do the damn thing.”

Bucky’s face broke into that blinding smile. “You sure?” 

“I’m sure I’d regret it if we didn’t try,” you say raising your glass.

Bucky clinks his beer to your glass, before leaning over to kiss you on the top of the head. “Let’s do the damn thing.”

Two months later

“Slick, what should I pack for this trip?” You hear hangers sliding as he searches for clothing in his closet. “Slick? I need help.”

You sigh, putting down your book and sliding off the bed. “What do you mean? We already ordered your suit for the wedding.” 

Bucky stands in his closet, shirtless in a pair of old grey sweats. “For all the other stuff we’re gonna do.” 

You wrap your arms around his waist. “Jeans, maybe a few nicer shirts. A hoodie. Bring your bathing suit-- our AirBnB has a private hot tub.”

Bucky hums, “Seems like you’ve planned this whole trip down to the minute. Please show me the itinerary.’

“Nope! I got big plans and they are top secret confidential.”

Bucky turns to face you, hands firmly on your hips. “I bet I can get them out of you.” You cock your eyebrow. “I was in the military, I know torture.” 

You throw your head back to laugh, but that was a mistake. Bucky starts assaulting your very ticklish neck with kisses. You try to push away but he has you in a vice grip.

“Oh. I didn’t know you were ticklish,” he deadpans. His fingers find your sides and though you squirm, you can’t get away.

“You can’t break me,” you choke out between laughs. Bucky doesn’t believe you--Hell you don’t even believe you--so he increases his attack, zeroing in on an armpit. “Ah-st-stop. I can’t breathe.” 

Bucky stops immediately and you bolt out of the closet, “Liar!!” he shouts, following you out, laughing.

You’re trying to catch your breath as you sputter, “Finish packing. Please. We gotta get up early tomorrow to make it to the rehearsal on time.” 

Bucky narrows his eyes, “This is a trap. But fine. I’ll leave you alone. All night. No snuggles, definitely no sex.” 

You roll your eyes, “I know where the blankets are-- don’t you worry about me, worry about packing.” Bucky eyes you for so long you think he might attack again, but instead he turns back into the closet with a huff.

You and Bucky left the next morning for Seattle, the both of you giddy for a weekend away. Once you hit the city, Bucky lets you drive to the quaint AirBnB you chose for the trip. It was a cute little mother-in-law cottage on one of Seattle's surrounding islands and it was right on the water. Bucky was itching to know your super secret itinerary, but you wouldn’t budge on the surprise you had planned for him. You promised he’ll know more after the wedding.

The wedding was gorgeous. Brad and Aaron were both so handsome and their vows made you bawl your eyes out, which just made Bucky pull you closer and kiss the top of your head gently. Spencer was there, a plus one of a mutual friend, but he kept his distance from you and Bucky, so the night succeeded in being very romantic and relaxed. You spent most of it in Bucky’s arms on the dance floor, which is exactly where you wanted to be. He was the last person you thought would have dance skills, but again he surprises you by being quite nimble on his feet. He twirls and dips you until you're both dizzy and in a fit of giggles. 

The next day, despite your busy late night, you and Bucky are up bright and early. Bucky was as excited as a kid at Six Flags, begging you to just break the surprise to him early. You refused of course- it was fun watching him squirm. Bucky questioned your every turn on your way to the surprise.

“So, where are we going?” he asks for the 30th time.

“Bucky. You will see when we get there,” you say smugly.

“I wanna know now.”

“It’s okay to want,” you retort. 

Ten minutes later, you turn into the parking lot of Seattle Whale Watch tours. You look at Bucky, “We’re here.” Bucky’s eyes are wide. 

“We’re going whale watching?” he blinks slowly. “How’d--you remembered? I said that forever ago!”

“Of course I remember Bucky. It was a dream of yours… I wanted to make it come true.”

Bucky just grinned. “You’re the best.”

Bucky’s practically leaning off the boat with the biggest grin ever on his face. It’s been a particularly busy day as whale traffic goes, so Bucky was elated to say the least. “This is amazing. Wow.” He turns to you. “Thank you, slick. I-That was better than I imagined.”

You grin, so pleased that he’s happy. “I’m glad you liked it.”

He pulled you to stand in between him and he railing, “I told you that you knew me,” Bucky said smugly in your ear.

You smile as you turn to face him, “You were right, Buck. But there is something about me that you don’t know.”

Bucky purses his lips, “Doubtful doll.”

You shrug, but continue anyway, “I love you.”

Bucky blinks. “Well shit. I did not know that.” Somehow, Bucky’s smile for you was brighter than it was for the whales and the sparkling blue of his eyes putting the ocean around him to shame. “I love you.”
