What subjects do you think the vdlg was good at in school?

quick high school au. grimshaw, hosea, dutch, pearson, swanson, uncle, molly and strauss are all teachers. rest of the gang is de-aged to teens.

arthur: art. he is the definition of the quiet kid the teachers let sit in the art classroom during lunch despite rules because he all he wanted was the peace and quiet to draw

john: pe. not just the actual physical activity side of it but really good at the health and human development, understanding of physiology side of it. could've been an all-star if he hadn't had an injury in middle school

javier: languages and music. unsurprisingly his brain is just pre-disposed to the particular process of learning third/fourth/fifth languages after moving to america as a very smol bean and having to learn english. still argues sheet music is easier to read than shakespeare. english is his least favorite language.

bill: chemistry. admittedly he can't explain how he's good at it and will forget a formula the second he learns it but on the practical side of things will outperform the teacher on experiments.

micah: home economics/FCS. which he will never admit to liking. but a bit of privacy and encouragement from his fav teacher and he can patch clothes, and cook like he's been doing it since was seven years old (because his father's an alcoholic and his mother died so he had to take over domestic duties to look after his little brother)

charles: vocational. woodwork, metalwork, outdoor ed, anything he can do with his hands without being in a classroom.

sean: history is the only class he pays attention in. except he's usually correcting the teacher because 'but my da said' and then going on with a mostly fantastical story about revolution and victory for the working class.

lenny: legal studies. he wishes it wasn't how his brain worked, but it's really intuitive to him even without his father's pressure to excel. he can't help he's got that belief that in righteousness and social justice. presentation on a class action? lenny and sean dream team going to make you think you're in court.

sadie: automotive! at least when she bothers to show up. she skips school more than sean does, usually to hang out with her bf jake and give him a heart attack as he plays backpack on their motorbike.

karen: english but only persuasive writing. captain of the debate team. her and lenny get into a fight it's the presidential debate. sean is increasingly aware he might just have a thing for being yelled at.

tilly: maths, specifically financial maths. but she's an all-rounder who knows she can go into absolutely any field she wants because she's just designed to learn. despite all warnings not to, she decides to go into teaching.

trelawney: it! he's amazing with computers, stopped attending school for two years at only to reappear at graduation with his wife in a fancy car. he was definitely running scams and apparently already owns his first house and is talking about getting a bigger one for when their first born arrives. he's 19.

kieran: english. yes, he couldn't read until senior school because it took that long for the teachers to realise he is hella dyslexic. but he's getting a lot better at it and it's still his best subject because he's just terrible at everything else.

OK, SO FIRST CREEPYPASTA OC, SHES STILL A LITTLE IN THE WORKS BUT SHES KINDA CUTEE (TW FOR MENTIONS OF ABUSE, EATING DISORDERS)

Personality: very quiet to most people, to certain people she's bubbly and sweet but can easily get emotional. Fav color: black and dark blue. Birthday: February 14th. Hair color: dark blue and black. Eye color: dark brown/black. Style: mcbling/2000s bimbo. Powers/weapon: though kami isn't strong, she's very fast, using daggers to kill her target. Strengths:art (she us heavily into singing), speed (kami use to be a runner, doing track and often winning since she was little) and a makeshift therapist (she before becoming would take care of others and help with their problems) Weakness: strength, Kami grew up into more of the arts and wasn't really athletic, any sports she may have played was for fun or gym class.

CONNWCTIONS: Liu Woods: At first her and liu are pretty cold to each other, but after a while, Kamo tries to gain his trust after finding interest in his scars. After a while, they end up very close

Sally: Kami acts motherly to sally (im my AU sallys mother wasnt very pressant) and  close too her

Lizari: also acts motherly to lizari though lizari refused the love more then sally who needed and craved it

Jeff: she isn't sure on how too feel on him, after lius story she found him to be pretty disgusting

Tim: likes to vent and talk to tim, finds comfort in his unoften kindness, both get alog decently well

Brian: they both draw together and are friends though aren't crazy close

E.j: they don't talk often but don't dislike each other

Ben: finds him a little annoying but doesn't dislike him, they don't talk often

Nina: very pushy on kami but meant well, ended up friends over fashion sense

Clockwork: Kami is scared of her rough personality but thinks she's very admirable

Toby: helps him with cooking, and has too check in with him every so often

Slenderman: Kami and him barley speak but she found comfort in him. Though he won't speak to anyone

Why she stayed with lucas: Kami's family and Lucas's were very close during high school and college, also both families wealthy and strict. Both families wanted an arranged marriage and forced it upon the two. Throughout Kamis' younger years, she didn't like it but didn't know better, it was basically brainwashing her into thinking it was the norm

Her job as a proxy is to gather and stalk people for slenderman and gather info to help him.

Lucas personality:he was a rebellious teen, the smoking, partying kind of kid, bad grades rude, and had horrible anger issues

Backstory(wip), Kami was 13, a sweet girl who never loved her appearance. "I'm too big", "I hate my face", is what she'd often think, she was hopeless and desperate to look pretty, and that had caused an eating disorder from 13 to 17. Kamis parents weren't the best, always trying to make her the best of the best, good grades though she'd average Bs, And it was her parents faults on why she was so insecure. It was 6pm, Kami was at the dinner table and looking around. She was dolled up by her mother, a boy would be coming over, his name was Lucas, a year older then her. "Your gonna act like a proper women" her mother said sternly as she went to go to the front door. Lucas and his family came in moments later, all sitting at the table. Her mother greeting them and they started to eat. Soon after finishing the dinner her and Lucas were sat on the couch. "Kami, Lucas

... we'd like you too to start dating, " Lucas's mother said softly, a kind woman kami thought. After figuring out that she was now forced into a relationship, a boy she barely knew was dreadful, but she expected better than what she got. Through out being 13-15 Lucas would insult her, make her act like a slave for him when he came over, but when they got a little older 16-18 he had abused her, often verble but when he got drunk it'd be physical with her. One day, she was in his room, pouring him a drink while he ate at his desk while playing games. She watched him and would try to get his attention at points, but he'd shut her down with a harsh or nasty yell. Something in her snapped once she tried to talk to him one more time, but her smashed a cup on her head. She took the glass and everything went blank for her as she killed him, in sweat and tears. She had come back to reality minutes later and screamed, looking at the blood on her hands. She took her phone and weapon(glass shard) and rushed off to the woods around 8 pm in the winter. After an hour of exploring the adrenaline and fear wore off, as she fell down, the blood loss made her pass out. She thought that it, but she looked up at her head and hit the ground. She saw a lean tall figure, then passing out, hours later she had woke up, finding herself in a bed, her head bandaged as she looked around it was an empty room. A man had come to the room he was all stitched up and looked around 22. He stayed distant but walked into the room. "How's your head?" he asked. "I have a headache, but that's all," she stated, looking up at him, "i figured.." he ended up giving her painkillers. The man had multiple crosses around his neck and a black and white scarf. "Thanks.." she took the pills and sat up a little more."Who are you?" He seemed to ponder for a moment till speaking."liu, yours?"Kami.." Character Writing Practice - 90s!Remus (90s Kids AU)

For future reference, I'm referring to Character Writing Practice as ChrWP.

A recap: Remus is a punk kid with anarchist tendencies in this au. So, of course, had to make him see school as mostly pointless bc of 'current-world problems'. Like, he doesn't see school's purpose as far as preparing kids for the 'real world'. How's school gonna prepare kids like him (queer, neurodivergent, etc. (minorities, basically)) for all the bs the world throws at 'em?

Okay @cloudycleric I’ve got two Byler AUs I’ve been thinking about but here’s the main one:

this might be a bit niche, but a byler AU where Mike is a YouTube/Twitch Gamer and Will is an ASMRtist. Will’s videos are the only thing that can make Mike fall asleep (bc insomnia/Will’s voice is soothing to him), and Will watches all of Mike’s playthroughs avidly. They meet at some sort of Youtuber meetup (I don’t know how these things work fnejfjd) and immediately click.

Other thoughts about this AU:

Max and Lucas are sporty YouTubers (who meet and fall in love 🥰🥰), meet Will through El (still Will’s sister).

El doesn’t show up in either channels videos very often. Appreciates that they don’t force her. She was fostered into the Byers family when she was like 6 (Willel got attached immediately), after her previous parents got arrested. She’d been one of those family blogger kids—where the parents have kids bc Clout? Owens is her social worker.

Dustin edits Mike’s videos but also has his own channel where he does science experiments and sometimes forcibly recruits Mike to participate in them.

Will’s videos are mostly the RP type: his most popular series is a wizard in a DnD setting (ofc). And also 80s best friend RP maybe because my fav asmrtist has an 80s best friend RP and I’m literally in love with it and like it fits???

Mike’s type of gaming content is In Character playthroughs (his fans say he should go into VAing)—Skyrim, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc. but also he does Challenges where he makes the games extra difficult for himself like No leveling up or wte

My other AU thought is just a thought that, In an early modern AU, will would be a neopets kid, Mike would be a webkins kid. Again might be a bit niche and I have a feeling I’m about to feel Real Old

(Okay so like in my experience webkins were for the richer kids while the kids whose parents were on food-stamps for a while (9yo me hi🙋‍♂️) went with the free option of neopets (at least until they started doing their micro transaction bs dhajdx). And ofc Mike would join neopets too so he could be friends with Will on there. they run a shop in the marketplace together.

So, because I’m a massive geek with a fondness for learning whatever random trivia I can dig up about my fav franchises, I ended up discovering the BS Zelda games (there were two, though only one had an actual story as far as I can tell). While their place in canon is debatable, I personally include them. But both the LU series and your Player AU made me wonder how one would handle incorporating that rather odd chapter of hyrulian history.

(WARNING! GIANT BLOCK OF TEXT AHEAD!)

For those who have yet to stumble upon this bit of LoZ esoterica, Ancient Stone Tablets (the one with a plot, however flimsy) happens six years after A Link to the Past and during Link's absence (I don’t think it was ever explained what exactly he was doing, just that he wasn’t immediately available and couldn’t be reached in time). Instead “you” end up saving the day from Ganon after being temporarily (and in my opinion somewhat unceremoniously) slotted into his role by the powers that be. How, exactly,“you” end up in Hyrule is never clearly explained beyond some shenaniganry involving a mysterious Fortune Teller's house that wasn’t in town before, a golden bee that “you” follow to the back of said house (yes, really. And no, it’s never explained why such a nonsensical decision was made), and some apparently strong magic (tied, unfortunately, to Ganon (more on that later)) tearing open a portal between Earth and Hyrule. Whereupon a blinding light bright enough to be seen from the castle drops you out of the @#$%#! sky causing you to promptly pass out after faceplanting into the ground (ye-ouch!). “You” are moved to safety by a very confused and slightly frazzled Zelda and the equally confused but more put-together younger brother of the wise man Sahasrahla, named Aginah. Zelda is convinced that they’re strangely dressed mystery visitor was the “Hero of Light” (basically a wild-card the goddesses can throw at the current ‘problem of the minute’ whenever something’s tied up their usual method of dealing with things – I.E.: Link. Unfortunately, because this stand-in hero is largely unaffected by fate, it’s pretty much a gamble whether their designated temp-hero wins, fails or decides it’s not worth it and swan off, they can't rail-road them like they can Link). Uh, there’s one point in the game where you need to translate some tablets and Zelda has you go to Link’s place to nick the Book of Mudora for a bit (one can imagine the vet was not real happy after finally returning home and finding out that little detail). It’s revealed later in the story that Ganon’s lingering spirit had somehow learned of an annoyingly undefined power that “you” apparently had and somehow managed to pull “you” into Hyrule with the intentions using said power to be fully reborn. Interestingly, you beat him not with any kind of sword but the Silver Arrows. Then “you” return home the same way you left (oooowww......).

Something neat about the BS games was that you could actually choose whether your avatar was male or female (alas, no customization options though), hence why I wrote this giant text-novel the way I did. They’re also the only branch of the Zelda franchise with actual voice acting (discounting the player avatar who remains mute). “You” inexplicitly already seem to have familiarity with using the varies weapons and items you collect, magic, and Hyrule’s many, many dangers despite being from the modern day (which, at the time of release, was 1995) real world. Which makes me wonder, what if Player was targeted by the shadow before their grand adventure started in contrast to the chain who are on their newest journey after their known adventures concluded.
