Hiro affection headcannons

Pairing(s): Hiro Hamada x Gn!Reader

Knowing how hiro is , it’d be best to assume the ways he tends to show affection aren’t all that romantic at first glance

He gets so awkward whenever you give the slight implication that something is romantic

So, the only way he can properly function is if his actions are under the guise of being funny or just him joking around

So more often than not you and hiro will be bickering about whatever and honestly at each others throats 😭

Hiro will go AT you

He’s merciless with his insults and despite how horrible and childish they are he’s proud nonetheless

Ofc it’s mutual and always done if the other is comfortable

However, if you were to ever want to do anything that inherently romantic hiro won’t be completely opposed, but it’ll take him some time

You’d be the one that would have to take the initiative and go out of your way to romance him

You can usually tell when he’s taken off guard, especially with how he’d stiffen up and try his best to face away from you

I mean you can obviously tell how red his face is but if anything, he’s doing it to save face and not end up being teased by you once he gets his confidence back 😭

On the more serious note, he knows how frustrating it must be if you ever want to hug or kiss or even just hold his hand.

He knows how difficult he can be but it’s honestly just difficult for him to express affection especially if that affection is towards someone who is his s/o

Now that we’ve established that hiro is a bundle of nerves let’s get onto the actual acts

So when you decided to hug hiro it wasn’t exactly a conscious decision

It was sorta in the moment and you’d only have realized because of how hiros face and body language told you everything you needed to know

+ his voice crack when he tried to speak 🤭

Well onto to the actual acts-

When you initially held hiros hand it was more spontaneous than anything 😭

It’s honestly nerve wrecking and before you could even do anything it was hiro who did it first

You looked towards your hands and his was clasped over yours

It was more than awkward but you could tell it took everything out of hiro

It was best to assume it was because he felt guilty for making it seem like he didn’t really care

Either way it wasn’t like you could tell him anything since he ended up freaking out after 6 seconds and wiping his hand , saying that they were “too sweaty”

Which was probably the case too

If you ever hold hiro hostage and try to hold his hands for a good time, he’ll let you but don’t expect hiro to say anything

He doesn’t trust his voice

What’s worse than the state he’s already in? Is that fact you shove it in his face and make him feel even worse 😭

With all relationships y’all are likely to kiss

And for hiros case it was not only his first kiss with you but just in general

The first few times you try to initiate a kiss he’ll totally freak and bail

I mean you can ofc tease him and he’ll be at your mercy-

But it’s just best to give him some space

It’s only like a few months later that the both of you are chilling and you decide to kiss him

You’d probably be in his lab or room and once you kiss him he’d reciprocate

But once the kiss ends he’s having a mini panic attack and totally freaks out internally, if it isn’t already physically visible

He’d probs trip in the process of yeeting himself away from you afterwards 🧍‍♀️

And if you’re in his room in the scenario then this would alert Baymax, worst? Cass

Either way Baymax is totally there to make it even more embarrassing and awkward for hiro by pointing out your heart rates

If you make a habit at hugging, holding his hand or even just kissing his cheek then you’d have to give him a moment 😭

He won’t push u away tho

Luckily these moments are basically free times for you to tease and absolutely make fun of him 😼

My teammates tell me I’m gonna to croak on the job.

They don’t mean soon. They’re not, y’know, assholes about it. They don’t mean I’mma get myself ended because I’m not good enough. They don’t even mean I’ll bite off more than I can chew. I can chew a lot, metaphorically speaking.

(And, like, sure I’ve snuffed it once or twice in the course of a mission - but it never *sticks*. And, sure, my team would probs suggest I add ‘so far’ to that sentence. But ‘hell never sticks … so far’ is grammatically weird, I think, so I reckon I’m morally in the right.)

What they mean is: I’ll never let myself leave the job, so of course I’ll lose myself to it.

Which. Y’know. Fair.

A lot of folks in the profession have this issue, of course. When you’re in the world-saving game, it can be tough to justify quitting and letting someone else take a turn.

I call it the Heroic Paradox. The ‘Heradox’, if you will.

Paradox part 1: an apocalypse demands a ‘hero’ or ‘heroes’. If it does not find one, a hero must be created. This is rough for the hero, ‘cos they’re a normie with a normal life and the process of going hero mode will take that life away from them.

(I’m actually not a huge fan of the term ‘hero’, but ‘designated end-of-days preventer’ is lengthy.)

Paradox part 2: if an apocalypse begins and the hero(es) already exists, then job’s a good’un, just crack on with business and de-apoc the lypse.

Paradox part 3: if the hero(es) are a few apocalypses deep and now pondering retirement on a nice little island/farm/wizard tower/public office, you hit that awkward moment where a hero is called for, but not yet present. Best case scenario: some poor schmuck gets their life ruined by ‘destiny’.

Worst case? The hero refuses the call or gets snuffed out early or *there just isn’t anyone appropriate* and that situation really puts the ‘scat’ in ‘eschatology’.

So … yeah, I don’t see myself retiring.

But if I’m honest - if I peer really intensely at the squirming pile of neuroses that lurk beneath the justifications - I was this way *before* the stakes got this high. I’ve always been a ‘crisis mode’ kinda jerk.

Lurching from mission to disaster to disastrous mission has always been where I feel most *myself*.

Now you (or my team) might say: that’s no way to live. Everyone needs downtime. Rest. Enrichment.

It’s been the downfall of many a hero that they hit crisis mode so hard, they don’t bother going to *therapy*.

My answer to this is simple: if you treat self-care and self-maintenance as being *really fricking urgent*, you can roll that work into your *existing* crisis pattern.

This is actually pretty sustainable. Because first: that stuff *is* urgent and you’re a bilge-organist if you don’t realise it. And second: the best kind of therapy is always the one you’ll *actually do*.

So yeah: I’ll pass away on the job. Because even the soft fuzzy nonsense I do … it’s all for the job.

And you know what? If it means I’ll exit this world knowing who I am? I’m okay with that.

Y'know given Avowed's whole "there aren't many godlikes left" thing, allow me to serve some copium bc I personally don't think that godlike Watchers died and there is sufficient enough lore reasons for that

In case you never played Seeker, Slayer, Survivor, or you forgot about it, near the end of the dlc we meet Aexica, the person behind the Seeking Face and the ghost of an Engwithan animancer who worked on the Crucible which was basically a test version for the Wheel which was built next

As she explains, the Crucible and the Wheel emits (or used to emit in the Wheel's case) a signal that Watcher souls also emit - the Watcher sees souls and the souls see them back, remember? That is why the Engwithans could divert the natural flow of souls towards the Wheel instead and Aexica also explains, figuring out how to mimic the Watchers' soul signal was the hardest part of the project

Which basically means that even though Watcher souls are juicy and probs would make the best snack, in terms of long term survival, the gods are better off leaving godlike Watchers alone so they could be studied or maybe even have their souls power the new Wheel in a worst case scenario

!! w/ the top gun au x pjo theyre all baby teens, i think its more fun to mirror how percy was in the first book (yes i literally grew up on this series i will put top gun au in the very beginning ✊🫡) also no the pjo characters (literally everyone minus the gods and Charon) dont exist in this au theyre basically replaced with these four

idk the actual ages of mav, ice, goose n slider so heres a guess thats prob v wrong of their age gaps irl (like to the actors actual ages) but canon in my little au lol

Slider:

+ 15, got to camp when he was a baby bc no one wanted him 🧌 he grew up there and survived, he stayed with the hermes kids until he was 10 when he was claimed :( zeus sucks.

+ has abandonment issues which is why he is stuck so close to ice as they have a strong connection, tries his best to always succeed due to fear of disappointment to zeus, tries to be mature but ends up crying and needing comfort (sad kid bro, too much stress, is being forced to grow up basically which is why mav is such a nice balance helping him be childish/immature whenever they argue— its all out of endearment)

Ice:

+ 14, met slider when he was 9– is the reason slider got claimed in the first place when slider ended up discovering he could blast people saving ice from monsters chasing him up the hill, campers steered clear of slider after that due to the “ohh hes the son of zeus” effect so ice had slider and slider had ice, ice was claimed just a few days into camp life

+ bosses people around but its bc he knows and plans things they dont and never reveals why he tells ppl to do what until after the fact which can be kinda annoying but u just gotta trust ice— even if he tells u to stab him or if he betrays u for a second (lol). he finds patterns in peoples personalities that helps him guess what their reaction to different scenarios will be so he doesn’t get surprised by a lot of things and can defuse a situation with just words in a snap

Mav:

+ 13, youngest lil baby, got to camp just a few weeks ago basically and got too many enemies when he helped his team win in capture the flag— immediately got claimed by ares after that especially when he fought dirty and took out slider mid game which pissed off the winner who had a streak going

+ naturally gifted, his adhd is a bit more intense than other demigods making reflexes and senses more heightened (a blessing and a curse) he prefers to sleep outside in a makeshift tent he has pitched up a little farther into the woods since he prefers nature more over other peoples company (minus goose) a lot of energy but a bit of a loner if no one he’s rlly close to is around— came from an foster family that adopted him that is apart of the demigod protection group, hasnt seen what campers like ice and slider have seen yet in the demigod world (friends dying, quests where no one comes back, parents being dead beats, etc)

Goose:

+ 15, older than slider already has a crush (carole, a girl back in the mortal world he sees every summer, shes 16 and they were paired up as a pianist and singer for a performance which started off their relationship), got to camp when he was 13 and prefers non fighting activities, got claimed when he and the campers had a sing along

+ never rlly talked to slider or ice until mav got to camp and wouldnt stop pestering the only zeus child if he could shoot lasers out of his eyes, goose and ice get along fine tho ice sees a loyal comrade with goose which he admires, occasionally has sleep overs with mav in his tent outside whenever mav wants the company or a tranquilizer to sleep, gets too many migraines from shenanigans to the point he always has a thermos with a soothing tea and a case of Tylenol

yeah all the other shit that happened terrifies me BUT theres one standing above the rest, and that has to do with our favorite girlboss

yes my friends, im talking about pretzel. i dont recall her being mentioned at all since they entered the black sea, and they never said she was left with oliver (unlikely gillion would do that even) meaning shes probs still with gillion ob board?

they never said he left her on deck when they entered the base.

dopple gilly had all of gillions shit from what we can assume.

did she stay with gillion as she saw him temporarily die? watched as his skin was removed if she could see at all? patted his face gently to help him wake up yet not hurt him? cooed in his ear words he didnt understand, words trying to calm him and tell him he'll be back like every other time?

or did dopple gilly take her? did he even know if she was there? did pretzel ever know if she was with dopple gilly? did she realise and try to warn chip? did she see dopple gilly die and hurt knowing this wasn't an unfamiliar sight, having seen the training gillion faced before?

maybe chip got more fearful realizing pretzel wasnt there. maybe she was and thats why chip didnt want to fight DG (dopple gilly, giving him an abbreviated name), in case he hurt his best friends best friend.

maybe gillion saw she wasnt there and went into crisis mode. or he saw she was and got even more angry.

maybe they didnt even realise she wasnt there, onlt gillion did after they left, and he does some stupid shit, because goddesses and levithans will have to face gillion's wrath if they tried stopping gillion from getting her back.

maybe he finds her without a lot of her skin and cant stop blaming himself for letting this happen. chip and jay try comforting him, yet gillions tired of getting his ass beat. maybe he starts beating the shit out of the husk on board.

or, in the worst case scenario, pretzel is fucking dead, left to be rotting in the navy base, and gillion never realizes until its too late.
