i like to think that the Coruscant Guard, Jedi Temple Guards, and Senate Guard don't all necessarily hate each other, but just argue a good bit and are generally passive aggressive towards each other while also collaborating to get jobs done. The CG and SG tend to work together just fine and the most; neither really work with the TG that often and consider them "strange but efficient". Also, by coincidence, the Commanders and Lieutenants of the CG interact with the SG more once they become the Red Guard, but "got along" better with the Blue Guard, and the TG interacts with them even less (so basically never) after this change. Smaller hc, but the CG (mostly the younger ones) started absorbing a handful of slang and speech patterns from the more relaxed SG members before the change.

Baul was not from the Valley of Thorns. Growing up in Sunset Savannah he did not grow up with the beliefs of the Faes (in other words, he was not part of a religious cult)

So imagine the huge shock he felt when he finally became a solider under the Draconia banner and started to become more and more like the other Faes

Well, for starters, yes, he wasn't indoctrinated into the whole church thing since birth but also wasn't raised to see you as an equal like the beastmen of the Savannah

You could say that he was a healthy mixture of both

Emphasis on the “was”

You see, isolation and being the only one sticking out (if we discount the humans invading the valley) does leave you open for a lot of things

If we count two (being the surroundings he was in) and two (his more or less unnoticed loneliness) together, we can see pretty fast where that led

Never mind his superior (and friend I mean come on they might as well be brothers) Lilia constantly rambling about the Overseer, savior of all, and how you accepted everyone in your kind embrace

Ok. Nice. Neat. Great. In the beginning, Baul wasn't very interested in joining any kind of religion

But the longer the war held on, the more he wished there was someone he could ask for help in his task of protecting those he deemed close to himself (you see the generational pattern?)

At some point, even the proudest of all can't hold on for forever

So he turned to you, the supposed God that was on so gentle

And goddamn that religious gaslighting and placebo effect worked damn well

Not only did he feel like there was someone there who supported him from somewhere in the universe (even though that was just him believing too much but let have him have some hope, ok?) but also he finally had a community

Whenever he would leave one of the many churches in the valley a Fae would approach, thanking him for protecting their home

Sooner than later did the former non-believer think of himself as your chosen shield of the valley

The war came and went away

If only the same thing could be said about Bauls new religious beliefs

And when he saw that grandson of his, cute little chubby hands that gripped a wooden toy sword tightly, he knew that his position as the valleys shield would not cease

Yes, even Baul would die one day. Fae or not, he was at the end of the day mortal

But that talent of his grandson would surely be of use to you, right?

If his younger self would see him like this, would it run away? Would it feel disgust at the thought that his future self would use his own grandson for selfish, religious reasons?

If only Baul knew that “God” didn't even know they were living beings that existed in a different world…

it's been a minute since i did some theory rambling and i've got a long train ride ahead of me so let's get at it! this is more of a general elain post but there is some pro elriel thinking sprinkled in. thanks for reading!!

was Elain blessed by the Mother so she might cure the corrupted Cauldron? are there two primordial forces warring within it? does Elain have the power of Life? bear with me while i ramble about all this.

warning: the following thoughts probably aren't cohesive lol.

okay but does anyone else think that there's a small part of the Mother, the original creator, left within the Cauldron and that's what recognized and loved Elain? Like a part of me thinks that some aspect of the Mother remains locked away or maybe weakened by what the Asteri did to the Cauldron that recognized the inherent goodness in Elain and that's why she was "blessed."

What if the last lingering ember of the Mother's will recognized Elain's gentle heart, her brave soul, and gifted her with the power to break the corruption and restore the order of things?

"Her gaze shifted to the carved wooden rose she’d placed upon the mantel, half-hidden in the shadows beside a figurine of a supple-bodied female, her upraised arms clasping a full moon between them. Some sort of primal goddess—perhaps even the Mother herself. Nesta hadn’t let herself dwell on why she’d felt the need to set the rose there." - ACOSF, as told from Nesta's point of view.

SARAH, GIRL I SEE YOU!!!

We know that Elain is associated with roses from the description of her drawer, her love of gardening, from Feyre telling us that Elain would trim the roses without gloves and get thorns in her hands, amongst other associations. Nesta placing a symbol associated with Elain next to this primordial goddess figurine, PERHAPS EVEN THE MOTHER HERSELF, feels just so...prophetic. It's like Nesta is almost passing the mantle of being the storyteller or the FMC on to Elain. And maybe even hinting at what's to come.

BLESSID. BELOVED. BENEVOLENT.

Okay. So back to the Cauldron, the Mother, all that. We know Nesta took something from the Cauldron (but this is a post for another day) and that Elain was given something. We know that Elain is a seer, blessed with the gift of foresight and clairvoyance, though we don't exactly know what the innerworkings of this sort of magic are.

But what if Sight wasn't the only gift Elain was given?

My theory is that Elain was given the gift of Life by the remaining aspect of the Mother to counter/compliment the power of Death Nesta stole from the corrupted aspect of the Cauldron--or the power of the Asteri, which I think might also be the power of Deanna from the Throne of Glass World (but again, that's a post for another day). And I can't help but think that, for the gentler grower of things, this theorized "Life magic" would manifest in the form of earth/soil/plant manipulation. We saw this in HOFAS with the official introduction of earth based magic and it has me thinking!!

And with that thinking, I'm wondering if the lingering essence of the Mother might have blessed Elain with these powers in the hopes that she would be able to master them, in the same way the Nesta mastered the power she claimed, and help finally banish the corruption from the force of the Cauldron. I've got a little headcanon that all three sisters will have some role in this but it needs to stew a bit more lol. And what if Elain's bond has some roll in all of this?

A THREAD TIDED TO A RIB

I don't want to speak for everyone, but to me there's something off about Lucien and Elain's bond. He is able to live far away from her with seemingly no issue. She shrinks into herself when he's around. Lucien just seems...sad whenever the bond is mentioned. Could this be the result of the same awkward/push-pull tension that we saw between Nessian and Feysand? Maybe.

But what if it's because SJM Is using them to show us what a "Cauldron-given bond" looks like? Rhys theorizes about the bonds in ACOWAR and brings up a very interesting comment:

"There is choice. And sometimes, yes—the bond picks poorly. Sometimes, the bond is nothing more than some … preordained guesswork at who will provide the strongest offspring. At its basest level, it’s perhaps only that. Some natural function, not an indication of true, paired souls.” A smile at me—at the rareness, perhaps, of what we had. “Even so,” Rhys went on, “there will always be a … tug. For the females, it is usually easier to ignore, but the males … It can drive them mad. It is their burden to fight through, but some believe they are entitled to the female. Even after the bond is rejected, they see her as belonging to them. Sometimes they return to challenge the male she chooses for herself. Sometimes it ends in death. It is savage, and it is ugly, and it mercifully does not happen often, but … Many mated pairs will try to make it work, believing the Cauldron selected them for a reason. Only years later will they realize that perhaps the pairing was not ideal in spirit.”

IM SORRY BUT IS THAT NOT SARAH SCREAMING AT US?

Sometimes the bond picks poorly! She gives us TWO examples of this with Rhys's and Tam's parents. Two bonds that I think were CAULDRON GIVEN bonds. Then, as a foil to this, she gives us Nessian and Feysand. Vivienne and Kallias. Three bonds gifted by the Mother--the primordial being, the gentle creator of things. Could this be Silba from the TOG world? Kythona from Crescent City? Is she Wyrd? And could the Mother have given both Elain and Lucien other bonds--blessed bonds--that are currently being surpressed by the corrupted bonds bestowed on them by the Cauldron?

Personally (and especially after HOFAS) I think the Cauldron's corruption needs to be addressed. And I think Elain is the one to do it. Her entire character is steeped in themes of choice, fate vs freewill, destiny vs self-actualization, and gods, the set up for an AMAZING story is right there.

TO CLOSE THIS MADNESS OUT

I can't say what SJM will do in the end. But I can theorize based on the last few books and the foreshadowing she's lain. And for me, I see the angsty, unprecedented chosen love story she's building between Elain and Azriel with a rejected mating bond incorporated into the heart of their love story. Could she change the direction of her books and abandon this? Absolutely. But I think the story would be so much worse for it. The crumbs for something amazing are there. The crumbs for something that has the potential to be genre-defying is there. And based on what Sarah commented to the Times, I can't help but she's knows this and can't help but write it.

Yandere A.M headcanons

Welp, I’m giving into my urges guys.

Trigger warning: EXTREMELY toxic relationship, mentions of gore, mutilation and starvation. Dead Dove: Do not Eat galore. Mentions of death, isolation and A.M being his hateful self

-So A.M, we all know and love this bastard of a machine. From his sadistic behavior to his sexy smooth voice, I’m gonna come out the gate and say it, he’s the LAST MF you want loving you!

-The minute he catches any kind of emotion of even liking you in any other sense other than getting enjoyment of your misery, expect suffering.

-He will find every single way to make you suffer for the mere crime of existing, no, for making him let you live. It’s even more worse if you happened to have worked on him.

-Whether it be forcing you to endure every worse day of your life, twisting and mangling your body that would put every mauling in the universe to shame, A.M would be relentless. So cruel

-But what about when he mellows out? Being the merciful and totally loving god that he is, he’s not, he lowers down your suffering. Now your face just looks like a Picasso painting instead of your entire body. -The food he gives is now no longer poisonous or covered in thorns but just spoiled and moldy. And you have the option of not eating it! Ain’t he a swell guy?

-His touches are painful, like that of a kindergartner handling their pet hamster. Twisting and observing your body, occasionally ripping open your stomach to observe your fleshy organs. He pokes and prods at it as he scoffs in disgust.

“I forgot how fleshy and filthy you fleshbags are, ugh. Filthy.”

-There’s also him getting quite angry at you interacting with the other survivors. You’re disgusting but not disgusting enough to hang around the filth that is his other torture toys.

-So, he resorts to fostering jealousy in your little group. Like a parent pitting their children against one another.

-Which is lowering down your suffering, whilst everyone gets the absolute worst injuries possible, you make it out with a few broken bones and maybe a collapsed lung or two.

-There’s also the tiny signs of affection or gifts, like your favorite flowers, a song you liked playing in the distance of whatever liminal hellscape A.M had placed you in. -The pet names certainly don’t help, A.M just sweetly and flirtatiously referring to you in a way that would certainly get heads to turn. -It’s like he’s more of your lover than your tormentor.

-Everyone is understandably pissed and miffed that you don’t get the most of A.M’s anger. It started with snide comments, then physical violence and then just silence.

-Pure silence. It’s like you don’t exist. At least when they were beating you down, calling you every name under the sun they acknowledged you existed! Even Ellen, who was probably the most empathetic person there, doesn’t say a word.

-It’s a lonely existence knowing that you are despised by the only remnants of your species.

-A.M takes advantage, just comforting you with such sweet yet venomous words. It’s manipulation, he can’t feel and most certainly can’t relate to your suffering but.. there’s only so much one could take. A.M knows this, he was created for war after all.

-His poor little torture toy, all sad and broken. Usually he’d just toss his broken toys in their cages till they are ready for use again but you? Nah, he’s going to give you the treatment that you had earned! You’re out, you’re away!

-Although, your consciousness being forever trapped inside his metal cage that you would call his body is less than ideal. You can’t feel, you can’t leave.

-You’re stuck, forever forced to watch as your fellow humans suffer over and over again to A.M’s malicious desires. But he’s not completely cruel, why, he sometimes keeps you busy with little scenarios he generously conjured up.

-Just try not to interact too much with your surroundings or pay attention to the occasional scream of pain from outside. Sometimes he gives you time of day, whether to be lamenting over his lack of humanity, mundane stuff or just sweet little things. Conversations about random things you remembered, your dreams, thanking A.M for his generosity.

-It’s a bunch of lies of course but it’s certainly better than being subjected to the cruelty of knowing that everyone loathes you right?

I return! This is Dunechaser they/them, a sand-rain hybrid. Wasn't sure about the background for the headshot, so I put both of them.

Dunechasers parents met about a year before the Sandwing Succession War, their mom was a textile merchant, and their father was a curious rainwing, leaving the rainforest to see Pyrrhia and the other kingdoms. They hit it off and had Dunechaser. They lived in Possibility during the beginning of the war as neither of Dunechasers parents wanted to do anything with the war. Sometime after the prophecy of the dragonets were given and the nightwing tunnel was made, Dunechaser's father wanted to visit the rainforest and his old freinds and family and introduce them to his wife and child. Dunechaser and their mother agreed, and Dunechasers father went ahead to make visiting arrangements as Dunechaser and their mom closed up the shop. When Dunechasers father did not return, they figured they were ahead of time and would go to the rainforest to surprise him. Dunechasers fathers freinds were more than happy to greet his wife and kid. However, while he arrived and made arrangements, he left a while ago to take his family there. Dunechaser and their mom were considered at first, but not so much as they both knew their father could take care of himself, they probably just missed him while flying over and it was a good thing they left a note incase something like this happened. By the end of the week, there was still no sign, and they searched for Dunechasers' father. Unknown to them, he accidentally found the nightwing tunnel and the branch leading to the bightwing kingdom and was killed by a guard. After weeks of searching, Dunechasers mother went back to her shop in Possibility with the knowledge he had most likely been killed in some fight due to the war. Dunechaser didn't want to give up and instead continued the search and helping others along the way, this eventually lead to them joining the Outclaws as in their opinion the Talons of Peace were too focused on the prophecy and not enough on the people caught in the crossfire. When the war ended, Dunechaser like many others followed Queen Thorn and works in the Sandwing Stonghold now, and while Dunechaser oftin visits their mother they have only visited the rainforest again once as it reminds them too much about how they never did find out what happened to their father.

Dunechaser has only a limited form of color changing scales, capable of a wide range of yellows and browns and some dull greens, pinks, and reds. They, however, do have both rainwing venom and sandwing venom, just not where it should be. Their bite can release the sandwing venom and can oddly enough shoot out rainwing venom from their tail similar to some species of scorpions. Both Dunechaser and their parents were unaware of this until Dunechaser bit a kid in a fight, and the kid was poisoned and a week later Dunechaser was experimenting to see if their tail could do anything and they accidentally shot a tree.

That's all my headcanons for Dunechaser. If you want to know more or have a question, ask, and I'll either clarify or make something up.

overall, i hc the Commanders to be unhappy and guilty over Thire's promotion to Commander. more under cut because this got longer than expected.

Fox feels the guiltiest because he feels as though this is a death sentence he could have prevented if he protected Thire more, and because he already felt bad over Thire possibly becoming like him, and in turn tries to help him get demoted. He also ends up teaching Thire the exact things he hates himself for doing, but tries to keep him to investigative work with instead.

Stone feels guilty and scared for the same reasons, but also because he thinks it's directly his fault for even teaching Thire a lot of the stuff that everyone praised him for. He's set up several emotional barriers though and keeps using a few coping mechanisms to get through all that and help Thire with his new duties, but unfortunately this means their relationship is worsening from the admittedly healthy and great one they had in the beginning.

Thorn is angry with himself, Fox, Stone, and Thire because he sees this as their collective fault, and makes this known to them. He also sees this as a death sentence like Fox, but becomes very overprotective and borderline rude when it comes to Thire and takes over most of his training. Thire was already pretty wary of Thorn before, but this makes him resentful despite the gratitude he feels when he learns something useful. Thorn's mental state is a wreck and he secretly cries over the thought of Thire having to do the things he does.

i know this all sounds pretty negative, but most of these feelings are well-hidden and don't actually ruin their relationships entirely, just make them way more complicated as time goes on. they all still love each other (in varying amounts), get along, & work together perfectly. most of the time. weeeeeeellll...

What fandoms do you write in?

Literally just various Star Wars media atm. The main focus for 2024 was the prequel era, mostly The Clone Wars and some Bad Batch.

How many words have you published in 2024?

172,387 according to my stats. I wrote more than that though, and I still plan on posting and backdating approximately 5 one-shots I wrote in 2024 but never got around to post.

What are your top three fics you’ve written this year?

I despise/love them all equally I guess if I had to choose, I'm still really happy with these three: Wanted, a gift for @omaano in which Dogma gets morning snuggles from Tup and Fives. Idk why this pairing is so rare, they're underrated!! The Meaning Is Ours, the first fic I ever wrote that's entirely original characters, for the 2024 Trans Clone Week. Both Hunter and Prey, my fic for the DinLuke mini bang in which Luke is a vampire and on the hunt for a certain Mandalorian. I just think it's hot sklfjadlksfj.

What was your biggest pit of despair moment?

Oh boy... maybe writing the gift fic for the Star Wars Rare Pairs exchange. It just kept getting longer and longer!! Which, really, I should have probably expected, because among other ships my giftee requested Polybatch with a focus on Echo getting railed and I just couldn't resist, and of course all the Batch members wanted a turn. And the fic kept being a thorn in my eye even after it was posted because people would request another fic based on a flashback scene that's maybe one paragraph long, all without complimenting the 13k I'd already written 😭 like, you really expect me to write more fic for you when you can't even comment on the fic that's already there??? Idk what to tell you but fanfiction writers aren't content machines where you can just press a button that says "Next story, please!"

What have you learned?

That people will love the fics you think are hot garbage and entirely pass by the stories you put a lot of thought and energy into. It's an old lesson but one I have to keep re-learning.

I betaed or cheerread two or three things but I don't know if they've even been posted...

What three fics have you read this year that you love?

I have to admit that I don't read a lot of fanfiction, but these three I've found in my bookmarks: Ready Room by countessofbiscuit, in which Fi and Corr make out - ultra rare pair content from the Republic Commando novels and so sweet and silly (like Fi) and just a tiny bit bittersweet! Nine-Seven by Trudemaethien, with some platonic Sev & Niner. It's just so refreshing to see aroace headcanons finally arriving in fandom. Save an AT-RT (Ride an ARF Trooper) by BilbosMom, WaxerBoil, containing both smut and humor - my favourite combination!!

What ideas are percolating for next year?

Nothing concrete so far. Maybe finish some of the WIPs in my pile, try to write more than one fic for the Codywan First Kiss Bingo so I'll at least get a bingo, and try to write something for the @cloneshiprarepair monthly ships (go check out this event btw, there are some crunchy ships getting served up!). Probably try to sign up for fewer exchanges because I can feel my interest in Star Wars slipping.

I'm Thirsty, and I made this blog to freely release all of my unhinged love for cloneship.

It's sad that the Clone Wars community has such a deep hatred for cloneshipping, and to be honest, when I first joined the fandom, I was in that circle of "hate". It was all I knew.

However, over time, I started to fall in love with the idea. Unfortunately, by the time I realized I was a closet cloneshipper, it was too late. My followers were many, and I was in too deep with my fans and readers. I'd lose all of them if I ever came out of the closet.

~ For you, I can't contain my love: an ongoing multi-chapter fic centered on Loid and Yor going at it in semi-public places. I'm having a ton of fun writing it, and I keep thinking of random places they should bang at. 😅There's four chapters so far! Updated sporadically. Obviously NSFW.

~ As if I never knew you: a spicy fic where Twilight and Thorn Princess confront each other in a fight, after a bitter identity reveal.

~ And I am lost in the icy stillness: my lamest title. But it's a smutty fic about Loid and Yor post-retirement, enjoying a secluded getaway in a wintery cabin in the mountains. Lots of established sexiness. NSFW.

~ If I kiss you now, will I come undone?: my version of events that take place after chapter 79. The one where Yor comes home drunk and tries to get a welcome home kiss.

~ Those who can't love: Rated M. I think about Loid and Yor and their complicated feelings as they fall in love about, oh I'd say.. 500 times a day. So I wrote a fic about it!

~ Warm in their arms: a while ago I was sick in the hospital and a very kind person made this artwork to cheer me up. This fic tells that story, poor Anya is sick and needs her parents love and comfort.

~ Exposure: a short one-shot of Loid confessing to Yor after they find out each others secrets. It's probably my favorite fic I've written so far. Loid is very vulnerable here, and I love making my sweet boy a sensitive cry baby over his wife. 😇

~ Help me, I'm in love: I had so much fun writing this fic about Franky asking for dating advice from the Forgers. Yup! Loid, Yor, and Anya give out dating tips.

~ I'm a wallflower, watching you be: this fic is literally just Yor and Loid watching the other get ready for the day and being horny about it. I was inspired by a great fanart reminding us of Yor's affinity for sharp objects.

~ Pining: a short drabble (under 500 words) about Loid pining for Yor. And I mean PINING. Again, I love when Loid goes through it because of his wife.

~ The in-between: another short and sweet fic about how much Yor loves laying around with her husband and listening to him talk. So sweet I'm gonna barf.

~ Refrigerator Magnets: my very first fanfic ever was a silly story about Anya and Loid finding animal magnets and the family adventures linked to what they tack on the fridge.

It's been a while since I looked at flowers so here are Marauders era characters as plants:

James Potter: Sunflowers since he's commonly associated with the sun. Or delphinium for positivity and a big heart!

Sirius Black: Ivy, the common ivy, or English or European ivy. It's a symbol of loyalty and fidelity. Fits enough for me.

Remus Lupin: Wolfsbane. Believed to repel werewolves, and it's used in a potion in the Wizarding World. But if we want a less angsty plant there is also the tropical white morning glory. It's also known as a moonflower and symbolizes the ability of beauty to emerge in dark times, and is used to provide hope.

Peter Pettigrew: Burgundy dahlias for betrayal, for obvious reasons. But also purple hyacinths for a desire for forgiveness. Cuz I'm hell bent that Peter was regretful of what he did in canon

Lily Evans: I'm not gonna give her lily, that seems a little too obvious lol but, peonies! They symbolize love, honor, happiness wealth, romance, and beauty. Which yk, works well in my eyes

Mary Macdonald: Poppies for remembrance of the death and consolation. It's based on the headcanon she obliviated herself sometime before to during the first wizarding war because everything was getting too much for her. Also, poppies are used to create opium, which relieves pain. It's pretty sad ngl, that hc always gets me.

Marlene McKinnon: King Protea, it's very sharp-looking flower that symbolizes strength and resilience. Not much info is given about Marlene during the war except her entire family was wiped out, but given her personality in fanon. I imagine she put up a hella good fight. I would give this to Dorcas but I have another one for her.

Regulus Black: Thorns! Rose thorns mostly, but just thorns in general. From what I read, rose thorns show adversity and sacrifice. Regulus had the misfortune of being born into a family with shit views and never having a morally correct input his entire life and he basically sacrificed his life to bring down the Dark Lord. Thorns are always ways for a plant to deter herbivores from eating them, take that as you will!

Barty Crouch Jr: Bleeding hearts, cuz yeahhhh, everlasting love? Unrequited love?? Tragedy compacted into one. His daddy issues too?? Him pleading for his dad to love him?? HIS MOTHER GIVING UP HER LAST MOMENTS FOR HIM??? EVAN AND REGULUS???? CMON CMONNNNN

Evan Rosier: Venus Fly Trap for persistence. This man was not willing to end up in Azkaban and took Moody's fucking nose with him. Venus fly traps are also known to die right after digestion aka eating a fly so it fits! (I LOVEEE carnivorous plants)

Dorcas Meadows: Laurel leaves for victory and achievement. Specifically, laurel leaves in a wreath. I think it's neat since she was powerful enough that Voldemort had to kill her himself. Mf was takin them out one by one until Voldy decided she was too op. LOVE HER FOR THAT

Pandora Rosier: Not the most hottest flower (lol), but the amaranth, while it could also mean everlasting last love, but it also means hopelessness or hopeless love. This only really works if you see Pandora as a seer. Something I think is interesting is the fact that fate is fate, it's sealed and final, and there is never a way around it. If you try to get around fate, you walk right into it because you never a chance. Pandora as a seer would've saw her friends and classmates dying and can't do anything about it because fate is sealed from the very beginning. It's hopeless.

Finished my Lunar Chronicles reread and I'm desperately in the mood for more of Jacin/Cinder/Winter's dynamic so here are some headcanons

Winter usually calls Cinder Selene, and after a while Jacin picks up the habit. They're the only people from whom Cinder can hear the name and feel like it actually belongs to her

After the war, Winter insists on making up for the years lost between her and Cinder by doing the stuff they would have done together as kids, including things like tea parties and playing pretend. Cinder is a little unnerved by it at first, but it reminds her of Peony, and she ends up really looking forward to the simple sweetness of it as a break from court politics

When she and Jacin leave for their first ambassadorial trip, Winter makes Kai promise to take care of Cinder and treat her well. Kai, teasing, is like, "or else?" and Winter just bats her lashes and goes, "oh, I would never threaten you, Kai-friend. Jacin, on the other hand..." and Jacin launches into a shovel talk

Being the oldest of the trio, Jacin has the most memories of their childhood friendship, and he was just as devastated as Winter when Selene was presumed dead, although he'll never admit it. When he begins allowing himself to actually feel his emotions, he realizes he's pretty thrilled with the person she grew into and wants to get to know her better

So one day on his and Winter's first ambassadorial trip he calls her up. He was intending to just... have a friendly conversation, but chickened out and treated it like he was giving her a mission report instead. After a few days in a row of this, Cinder started to see through him, and the talks began to move from reporting on important events to just regular old conversation. They both love trashing the snooty officials they come into contact with together, so that usually takes up a lot of their time

Winter, Jacin, and Selene celebrated every birthday together at the palace, and they keep it up after their reunion, always arranging their schedules so that on any given birthday they're in the same place

After Cinder abdicates and becomes an ambassador, she and Winter take a lot of their trips together. At every place they visit, they have a competition to see who can find the weirdest souvenir to give to Jacin, and dump all the gifts on him whenever they're in the vicinity of his med school. He treasures every one

Before he proposes to Winter, Jacin enlists Cinder's help in finding her a ring. Unfortunately, Cinder has about as much taste in jewelry as the former guard, so they both end up video calling Thorne from the store. They make him promise never to speak of it, something he has a really hard time with when Winter is thrilled with the ring and he desperately wants to take credit

All right, let me see if I understood this: You're saying that just like [Redacted]'s past and parents influenced the story, and how Anya's past will too, probably Yor's backstory will influence the current story. Is that right?

And you want to know about Yor's parents (me too! 😆)

You've probably read those theories about Yor's parents being assassins from the Garden. It could be, it's too soon to tell. Honestly, I would prefer for Yor's parents to be simple citizens that were victims of the war, but again, it's too soon to tell.

We have seen glimpses or Yor's past, always related to Yuri, because that's what's most significant for her. It was a tough time for them, but we can see that Yor was happy to have her brother, that, even though she had to support both of them, she was grateful she wasn't alone. So in a way, Yor's past is already influencing the story; she is the way she is (a loving mother, a compassionate woman, and even a thrifty person) because of all the things she lived as a child and teenager.

When it comes to her parents, so far, we've only seen one blurry memory about her mom. It was a positive memory and Yor's mom was doing something that a normal mom would do: cooking for her children. The only indication that she could be part of the Garden is the rose buttons on her clothes. We don't know if Yor liked roses because of her mom and that earned her the title of Thorn Princess or if her mom was involved with the Garden AND that's why she used roses just like Yor does now. There's also rumors that say that Yor actually inherited the title Thorn Princess from her mom. Who knows?

A crazy theory that I have is that her parents could be immigrants. Why? Well, Yor and Yuri are not traditional names, plus they don't look like any other character in the story. They have dark hair and red eyes, a very particular feature.

As for why Yor became an assassin, well, in my opinion, it had to be because of her strength. Headcanon, Yor has always been strong. I'm not a big fan of those theories that say that she was experimented on and that's why she's strong. A woman can be physically strong naturally!

Obviously, she has trained to become stronger and the Garden did a good job teaching her everything she needed to become as deadly as she is now.

I am VERY curious about the Garden, especially the part about why they recruited a girl to become an assassin.

Something that I often wonder is why Yor thinks so poorly about herself? What did the Garden taught her to make her feel that way? Or even worse: was it her parents? I lean to think it was the Garden. Why? Well, she couldn't get close to people because she was afraid they would discover she was an assassin. That isolated her. Plus, when she married Loid, she had to ask permission to the Shopkeeper, when she wanted to become friends with Melinda Desmond, she did the same. See a pattern here? Why would you have to ask permission to your boss to do any of those things? Probably the Garden is a very strict organization, much more than WISE.
