wttt midwest nickname headcanons bc i'm bored~

Indiana: totally fine being called indy, he thinks its a cute nickname

Wisconsin: likes being called sconnie, any other nickname he finds kind of strange but will not confront you about it

Minnesota: do not call him minnie unless you're indiana or wisconsin. he's not going to say anything directly but he will be very passive-aggressive about it. fine with being called soda(sota), finds other nicknames to be silly but won't say anything about it

Missouri: hated being called misery by the other states. loves any and all other nicknames

Illinois: do not call him illy if you value your organs or are indiana. neutral about ill, and will beat you up if you pronounce the 's' in his name

Ohio: desperately wants to be called O-H, no one will call him this

Michigan: most commonly called mich, all other nicknames are uncommon but he's not really bothered by any of them

Nebraska: has a few nicknames and finds them all to be fun. (nebby, braska, etc) just likes the recognition

Kansas: avid hater of nicknames, probably because he doesn't have any good ones. will correct people if they try to use a nickname

the Dakotas: honestly impressed if you manage to find a nickname that isn't being used by another state. when its just the midwest north and south are acceptable. typically called souda or norda by other states

Iowa: anytime someone tries to give him a nickname he questions their sanity, because his name is only four letters and he finds the obsession with nicknames to be ridiculous

For most, the bank skeith is professional and polite. He is renowned with his reputation on being responsible and fair, if a smidge greedy.

Some Sky titling nomenclatures or some shit

So a HC of mine I wanted to briefly mention is naming titles for Sky's people, and how children, adults, elders, and Megabird are addressed. I may expand on this later.

Firstly, Skids and child spirits (at the time they were alive) name themselves, as to their people, identity is very important, so parents will not name their children and instead leave them to choose when they're old enough. Sometimes the results are disastrous, and you'll have adults in esteemed positions named "Grass" or something.

Rythulian naming customs tend to keep to what is natural, visible, tangible, and so on. So names such as "Butterfly", "Cliff's Edge", "Dove", "Meteor", "Beetle", and so on are quite common. Symbolic or implicit names are less common, only found in those who have changed their name later in life, or didn't choose a name for themselves until they deemed themselves old enough to do so.

Lastly, is the usage of pronouns and gendered titles.

Idk if I should link an earlier post, but I hc that Sky's people and Rythulians in general, through all stages of their development, are physiologically hermaphrodic. When relating to gonochoric specimens, they will use separate nouns, but for themselves, pronouns are largely used for titles, and not for denoting any kind of gender.

"They" or "He" is used for children, adolescents, and adult Rythulians, and they may be used interchangeably. The elders are almost exclusively referred to as "He". "She" is almost exclusively reserved for Megabird.

Megabird is referred to as "she", because she is the only entity that brings the birth of new children, as adults of their species neither give birth nor lay eggs (I may briefly go into how I imagine these things reproduce, but that's a post for another time), instead relying on their unborn to be gestated in stars within the body of Megabird. Without her, new souls cannot be born and those who have died cannot be reborn.

Daleth, who shepherds newborn children down to the Isle, among other things relating to the guidance and guardianship of newborns to young children, may also be referred to as "she", thanks to his role in aiding the birth of new Rythulians. However Daleth is only referred to as "she" in the context of shepherding souls. In other contexts, he is 'he' along with the other elders.

Elders are referred to as "he" because they aren't explicitly joined within Megabird like the people they guard over are, and besides Daleth, have no role in facilitating or aiding the birth of new souls. Because of this, they are farther away from the connected existence descendant Rythulians have.

As for titling, it's fully dependent on the role that the descendants, ancestors, elders, and Megabird herself have.

Words like "king", "lord", and "god", to name a few have female counterparts such as "queen", "lady", and "goddess", since they are high esteeming titles that may be applied to Megabird.

However words like "prince", "sir", "mister", and so on only have their masculine counterparts with no feminine equivalents, since they are lesser esteemed titles that, if applied to Megabird, would be considered disrespectful.

this rewatch of sdmi has been wild because once you start taking the talking animals and their place in the worldbuilding seriously it's just like oh wow this is some real final fantasy plot huh. what do you mean the resident discriminated-against beastfolk are not only descended from ancient otherworldly beings masquerading as gods, and not only driven insane even more effectively than non-beastfolk by a curse because of their heritage, and not only serve as apocalyptically powerful vessels for those otherworldly beings, but are easy to read as having been created specifically because they're more powerful vessels than normal animals, and then abandoned to their own devices (being enslaved) for thousands of years until the next time their creators pop into this reality and want a convenient corporeal form to snatch. which game in the series is this

KaeMAYeus Week 3:

Lunch Break | Love Poems

I got struck with the initial idea for the Kaemaeus ship at the beginning of 2023. It started with the premise of Kaeya taking Klee by the alchemy table in search of Albedo, and Timaeus having to regretfully tell them he was still away on Dragonspine. To avail Klee's disappointment Kaeya would take her to get lunch at Good Hunter, on a whim inviting Timaeus to join them. It ends up becoming a regular occurrence, the two chatting about this and that over a shared lunch break. They find that they like each other's company, and over time go from acquaintances, to friends, to more.

Given that it's June, I got more than a little behind on this. I still had fun this last month, trying to do a bunch of pieces for my server's rare pair alongside my friends. Thank you to @throwaway-writing and @tittysuckersworld for nudging me into making the prompt list. And for participating in this silly little ship with me. ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶
