But he didn't because he wanted to give Optimus a good emotional impact with all the deaths and who cares about the common lowlife anyway, all they're good for is getting bodily thrown at Zeta until his weapon overloads from draining too many people.

The last two panels also gives us something on how he views (his own) authority. Because while he's always held a position of authority in high command, the high command is still a council. On the ship his authority is absolute.

The next three scenarios form a pattern. It always starts with Rodimus telling someone to kill a comrade, the person tasked with the killing goes 'what I don't want to do that', and Rodimus tones down the order from death to wound.

Each of these scenarios is in response to a critical situation. Rodimus' first orders of 'aim to kill' are, while extreme, not disproportionate to the level of threat presented. They're within reason and authority. And ceding from kill to wound when protested is proof that he doesn't not care. But it also shows that his first instinctual reaction towards threats is to kill first ask questions later, even if the threat used to be his friend, comrade, or compatriot, he's able to weigh the lives on a scale and make that hard decision. He's also the type of person who's very comfortable with taking the fates other people into his own hands and deciding whether they should live or die (which is why him choosing to spare Getaway after retaking the Lost Light is a sign of character growth).

His characterization is fairly consistent throughout the comics, except for this:

Everything in Spotlight Hot Rod goes against his later presentations. In his spotlight he's said to repeatedly beat himself up over one failed mission and is averse to taking responsibility towards other people for fear that he'd get them killed but in later issues he has No Problems doing exactly that. He displays no preferences for 'going solo' aside from the mission to retrieve the matrix and that's because everyone else kicked him out. When he wanted to leave on the Lost Light he made speeches to convince other people to join him despite the fact the Autobots were already outnumbered on Cybertron and taking people away would make their situation worse. Whenever he went anywhere in mtmte he assembled a team to accompany him.

This scene especially contradicts Spotlight Hot Rod in every single way. The only consistent aspect of his character is the recklessness. He forces Optimus to authorize a rescue mission, of which he declares himself the team leader, ignores Optimus' caution about keeping it clandestine and tells everyone to barge through the front door, shuts Ironhide's objections down by pulling rank, then falls into a trap and gets Ironhide killed. Mission failed too obviously, they only got Prowl out. Optimus takes responsibility for the failure and surrenders to the humans, of which Rodimus' response is: "he freaked out because he couldn't hack it" and promptly also proceeds to drop everything and leave because yay there's no one to keep me on this stupid planet anymore and whoever wants to can come with. Where. is the guilt.

That and the whole fiasco with Swindle and Menasor were probably Rodimus' worst moments lol. Overall he's the type of leader good with stressful trolley problems but bad at considering the larger or long-term implications of his actions. His flippancy towards life and death and tendency to solve problems with the bluntest approach bleeds heavily into his leadership decisions and... just how his character is in general. Thank goodness there's only one of Drift and he's gone for most of the Lost Light voyage, Rodimus really doesn't work well with too many yes-men hanging around.

i’m so glad you brought up that bit in excalibur where magneto’s ideal prison is him getting to be a husband and father again, because it’s so relevant to the idea that the house of m reality isn’t actually everyone’s ideal life, but just wanda’s idea of what everyone’s ideal life would be. all the time i see x-fans condemn magneto for house of m because his ideal world is him becoming exactly like his oppressors, but house of m isn’t actually the life magnus wants! any time magnus gets to become a political leader, he hates it. he hated ruling genosha. he hated ruling krakoa. deep down, he doesn’t want to be superior. he just wants to live in peace with the family he lost.

also, shoutout to magda and anya, who never get to be anything other than magneto’s women in refrigerators. i wish they got to be more important than that. i love it every time we see them in comics, but it’s so rare. and shoutout to magda in particular since she’s been almost completely erased from the narrative by the maximoff retcon. really hope we get a reveal that natalya maximoff was magda all along when we inevitably make wanda and pietro magneto’s mutant children again.

i honestly didnt know excalibur was a predecessor to HoM when i heard about both runs so when i saw that set of panels for the first time it really had me reconsider HoM and the 'ideal reality' bit, im surprised i dont see it mentioned more often

i really wish there were more appearances of mags, magda, and anya; if there are stories focused on them i barely see them talked about... ive heard magda is mags' best-written partner from some but i also very rarely see stories that feature her directly named, so i never get to see her beyond the few fleeting instances i just so happen to catch her. id very much like to see more of her and mags' domestic life....

I think one of the main problems with even just the concept of Veilguard is that they wanted anyone to be able to pick it up without playing a DA game before. And everything came crumbling down from there.

Dragon Age as a concept works due to the lore, not despite of it. Whenever I talk about da with people who've never played it. I basically have to start from the begining and explain everything. What are Grey Wardens? Whats the Blight? Mages and Templars? The Chantry? Ect.

Making the 4th game of an ongoing series/story a new starting point for new players was never going to work. Taking out most of the lore and leaving you with whats a generic fantasy game with the DA name on it. But still including enough terms from the previous titles to where they had to add a glossary in it. Which doesnt really get into depth about anything mentioned.

Ive had this thought in my head for a while and hopefully my point came across. Sorry if not, just rambling into the void.

I imagine this first bit is him fairly recently after falling into the void, he traveled way forwards in time to see what the hell this thing that replaced him was like and found himself to be amused and a ✨CATHARSIS✨ for him

Traveling a bit in time through the eye transition, we see him making the tape recording and putting it in the secret compartment cause I SWEAR THAT WAS ALL HIS DOING. this is gonna age horribly

Then him doing his whole Player business. I think the “I deserve forgetting” is the most raw line ive ever heard in my entire life, BUT THIS IS A LIGHT HEARTED AND NOT ANGSTY PMV SO IM IGNORING THAT

He finds he doesnt much care for how he feels, more what he has to do, which is GET THE PLAYER and do whatever he has planned for Deltarune-

ik comparing ninjago and monkie kid is tired and annoying but harumi and macaque are so similar and as an avid fan of both i have to intervene (more rambling under the cut)

i wouldve LOVED if harumi’s arc in crystalized went the same way as macaque’s arc in s3; both of died and came back to life in very similar situations but harumi’s motivations wouldve been a lot clearer if it was presented like macaque’s

both characters died in a tragic and bad emotional state but were brought back to life to basically be omnipotent power person’s main man. bc of their blinding hatred for the “heroes” and also just bc they didnt want to die they decide to take up the offer and give up their soul (basically) to be brought back to life and destroy the world for their new “master” (idk a better word)

but where it diverges is that the narrative of s3 constantly emphasizes macaque in pain and how at his lowest point he doesnt even care about trying to get his “revenge” anymore, he just wants so desperately to stop being under lbd’s control and stop being in constant pain bc of it.

if harumi’s arc emphasized those things more it wouldve been really good and way more believable for if she would join the ninja in fighting mr overlord. i actually have wayyy more to say for this type of au but to summarize harumi and macaque (sinistershadow duo) FOREVER!!!!

Royalty AU

*fans Law like a proper victorian damsel before he swoons from low iron xd*

So Luffy, a noble that comes from old money who acts down to earth and chill, he is working at the stables when Law sees him

Law who is raised by the likes of Doflamingo, 'the help is inconsequential', still he is polite and curt as he is with anyone. Which catches Luffy's attention. Most royals & nobles treat him like crap when he tends to their animals.

Law is on autopilot. He is there to show his face as a bachelor to high-society but he has no interest in marriage of anyone, especially not when it means giving an heir to the likes of Doflamingo. He stopped getting along with the man when he got old enough to understand the ways of manipulation of the royal courts. They play the smiling game but there is a mutual distaste common to any noble familial relationship.

Still he is there, just so he can keep his place in the family and funding for his studies/clinic. He is also there to see if the lord to be crowned king is as much a threat as he is made out to be, or just a kid playing ruler.

As he spends time in the capital waiting for the main festival and coronation of the next lord. He often comes to the stables to read and be away from it all.

Luffy is there everyday, and makes it a point to talk to anyone who visits. Law being there for hours, means that Luffy more often then not talks at him but doesn't expect any answer in return. He is just ranting about anything that pops into his head.

Law overtime cant focus on his books and listens to Luffy's ramblings that are often out there and more exciting then he has heard come out of anybody's mouth in a long time. Law doesnt like listening to most people, so this is a change.

They spend days like that and sometimes Law asks questions, which just makes Luffy glow because someone is interested in his yapping? Sign him up to stop his work and excitedly tell Law about things like his favorite food or this cool thing he heard about, the biggest things he ever hunted etc

Fastforward to the coronation.

Law knows he is leaving after so he decides to say goodbye to Luffy but he is nowhere to be found. Which puts him in a bad mood all day. He doesnt even try to put on the pretense of flirting with the noble ladies that approach him. He is cold and distant, more then a little rude. He made atleast one of them cry.

The evening drags on and all he wants to do is check the stables one more time. He can see the lights from the castle. Yet being cold is fine but leaving the party will surely get him in hot water, and Doffy might even cut off his funding for a year. Law did not care that he did not have food or a roof over his head but the patients he takes would suffer the most.

So he stays, half paying attention as the new Lord is announced. The candles dim as the center of the dance hall is illuminated. The large curving stairs come into focus as the Lord enters the area.

Law blinks. He can't believe his eyes. The lord is Luffy, the dirrty ragged wild man he has gotten used to all cleaned up with an intricate crown on his brow and a bright smile. Law like anyone heard that he got the throne through war that has wrecked his nation for five years. It was a bloody time that made everyone fear him.

It is almost hard to believe that the happy joyful stable boy Law has grown close to is the bloodthirsty strategist that united his kingdom under one banner and plans to keep going. In that moment Law understands why Doflamingo sent him here and why he was worried.

Luffy can play the royal game better then any of them. If Law believed him to be nothing but a servant this entire time, and now he is a King with all the regal bearing that comes with it.

Luffy singles out Law and asks him to join him on the stage and by his side as an advisor. Law swallows as the attention turns to him.

Law going from a no-name lordling with no real title, to the Sun-Kings most trusted people. He does not go back to Doflamingo after that, as at that point what he hss to lose pales with what he can gain by saying yes to Luffy.

Not to mention saying no to someone like Luffy is political suicide, and even if Doffy chafes at the idea of Law no longer being availible to use as a marriage pawn directly to increase his power, he stays quiet and plots behind the scenes on how to take Luffy's throne using Law.

The intrigue of it all. Plus the drama of Law acting different towards Luffy now that he knows he is King and not a servant, which makes Luffy salty.

They have alot to figure out with plenty of dramatic things like assassination plots, societal stigma over their stations that Luffy doesnt care about, and Law scrambling to keep up with how things are different now and trying to handle Doffy alone so he does not distrub Luffy's quote on quote 'plans'

Law taking his job as advisor very seriously when Luffy just wants to be his friend like they were and maybe something else in time ;3

First time asking on this blog(at least I think) and its about the British Mexican Food, who couldve guessed?/sarc/silly

Lets cut to the chase, I feel like Feral!Taco would have to be restrained most of the time, especially when she has to get her weekly(?) shots and daily baths(because lets be honest, living in the forest with ROTTEN veggies and beans inside of you for who knows how long would DEFINITELY contract some diseases).

Usually Mic is the one who restrains her, mostly because shes the only one(besides Pickle) whos arm Taco wouldnt willingly bite into(she swore to herself that she wouldnt hurt her again, both physically and mentally). Although she would still try to wiggle her way out of her grasp, because while she trusts Mic, she DOES NOT trust Test Tube(this led to them having to sedate her during her first few shots, just so Test Tube doesnt have to worry about getting her hand bitten off, and even THAT was a struggle).

During bath time however shes way more compliant, in fact, she stays completely still, mostly because shes afraid of accidentally splashing Mic with the bath water. She would still vocalize her displeasure whenever she could(in the shape of small whines and hisses), especially when she has to listen to Soap lecturing her about basic hygiene.

Speaking of hisses, I feel like overtime, after she went non verbal, she would start using animal noises that she hears from the creatures in the woods. Hissing became her way of saying "Do that again and I WILL bite your finger off-". Whenever someone annoys or upsets her, unfortunately, an unlucky Trophy learned that the hard way(he had it coming, he was practically poking the bear with a stick).

On a more fluffier note, she can also purr! Tho she would rather get attacked by a bear than admit it(classic Taco, always hiding her vulnerable side). Nobody knew about this, not even Mic, and they wouldnt find out about this until AFTER Taco gets her first full nights rest in YEARS:

Just imagine, Mic tucking in a drowsy Taco after FINALLY getting her to sleep, as she was about to leave, something grabs onto her hand, she turns around and is met with Taco snuggling up to her palm. At first she cant help but find it adorable, but then she remembers that she cant stay for long, unless she wants to have worried Soap on her, currently occupied, hands(not sure if in this AU Taco is put into her own room or is rooming with Mic and Soap, but lets just say in this story its the former). As Mic tries to figure out a way to free herself, her gain suddenly picks up a low rumbling sound. At first she thought it was from a nearby heater, but the moment she realizes that it was coming from the feral brit herself, it took almost every fiber in her body to not squeal out loud and subsequently wake up the entire Hotel.

I'm not sure if they'd totally restrain her, like all the time, but there definitely would be times she has to be stopped from biting or scratching someone. They might just trim her nails at one point, and she would be so angry about it. She would indeed try to bite Test Tube at any sign of a shot, she is not a fan of Test Tube in this because of said shots. She's more hostile every time.

She'd be extra compliant, definitely out of fear of hurting Mic, but also because I'd imagine her vegetables being washed would feel really nice. She fights before she's in the water, but once she's in she reluctantly settles down, yeah?

She can and will hiss and growl, yeah. She has limited ways to express herself without words, and the animals in the forest that have been her main source of interaction with other living things would understand that better than words. She'd probably do it out of habit, honestly. Trophy would fuck around and find out. And by find out I mean get growled and hissed at a lot until Taco snaps and bites him. It takes three people to get her off his arm.

TACO PURR TACO PURR. Honestly? I think they should all be able to purr. Why not? I'm a big fan of Mephone's lack of experience with regular people/objects meaning that his contestants are just slightly off. Some of their features are inhuman. They have abilities normal objects don't. Taco would be very hard to get to purr though, with... everything, so it would be so very special to hear that!! Especially in here where Taco has been deep in survival mode + depression for months.

a lot of the danvsyou posts irk me (like /not super srs ashdnsadn) because they showcase dan being horny on main and that doesn't align with how i view him!!!!!!!!!!! i see him as fairly asexual ashdnsadsn maybe hyperromantic? but not hypersexual sahdnasd

that being said i do think that a lot of my asexual headcanoning for characters stems from the fact that most characters i hyperfixate on originate from kids media and also i am asexual

so i'm not saying that anyone who doesn't perceive certain characters as asexual are like wrong ahsdnasdnas because there's a genuine case to be made if they're adults that it's probably mostly from the whole "kids show" element... and not from them being canonically asexual

most of this is just me rambling tbh but its something uncommon i havent seen/dont see as much so shrug were a c did polyfrag sys right? so have distinctive differences in headmates is common for us. sure we have a bunch of fragments and similarities and doubles and different consciousness level etc etc but thats not the point. because of how distinctive and separate we are, its common for headmates to want to have that in the physical world. this is where different accounts are made for different social media sites but its not limited to that we used to live in the states for a bit and during our time there our host (at that point) couldnt handle the activities and masking so we split a headmate that was our "mask" except that was their personality, our masking personality was just their personality and they became host really quick. the thing is, because of that, host a couldnt be themselves publically... at all which was why host b formed. so host a turned to the internet where they could be themselves separate from host b. now, it wasnt just these two, we knew we were a system during this time but anyone that wasnt host b tended to surround themselves with hosts a lifestyle. cut to the present and host a has split into one) our current freq fronter and two) a fragment and host b now dormant. weve been living in japan for a whlie but it always crosses our mind that host b had a life separate from us as a system, they lived their life like a singlet. but were still signed in to some of their social media accounts so we get reminders of their life and their friends. our family askes us sometimes "have you been in touch with usa friend?" to which we have to say... no. because while yes their friends with us bodily they arent really our friends, we havent contacted them in years and havent looked back since.

from my pov, its common for system to just stick to each other, not to say it doesnt happen but again this is from my pov, like we know systems who live their lives alongside their hosts/bodily life (if that makes sense) while us its very much like "multiple being in one body." and no im not saying that others are less multiple living like this, this is just how i can best explain it? like they share accounts, share friends, etc etc but with us its like traces of those separate left behind. another way i can explain it is by tumblr blogs. you have your main right? most systems ive seen share the main blog and are just associated with it. us? we have headmates who make a whole separate main that they can do whatever with. and then those headmates stop being active and its like a whole someone dipped the internet.

like even now we have a headmate separate from the freq fronter ive mentioned before who has their own friends and lifestyle separate. its not as separate as hosts a and b but its still separate, the freq fronter dont interact with each other at all. even then this account is just mine, not tied to our "bodily main" so frequent fronters dont even know about this account

I find it kind of funny how, when you really think about it, Celestia is a really complex and layered character with a lot of emotional depths to explore (the pain she endured from having to banish her own sister, the pressure and responsibility she bears as the ruler of a kingdom, the betrayal she felt at Sunsets turn, etc.) and yet all of that is overshadowed by how easily she gets bodied at every possible turn.

Like, out of every major villain encounter in the show, she was really only helpful in like, what…Two of them? Maybe? The rest of the time she just shows up for a split-second and then *BAM* instant knockout.

I understand that from a writing perspective you have to find ways of removing her from these conflicts so that the main characters can have the focus (that’s also a major problem that Discord has post-redemption) but at a certain point it just becomes a thing of “man, you really can’t do ANYTHING on your own, huh?”

It becomes clear that the show didn’t quite know what to do with her once Twilight became a princess, and so they leaned more into her goofball tendencies (which I personally loved, but I could see others being annoyed by it) and it just makes me wish we could’ve gotten at least one more episode for her to really shine, like in Celestial Advice.

Anyways, ramble over, just wanted to say that I have nothing but respect for our dearly beloved Princess Fraudlestia 🫶💛

I think the showrunners lacked imagination and creativity regarding her and whenever they wanted to prop up a character, they preffered to knock down another character for that to happen. For example, everyone loses to Chrysalis off screen just so starlight can beat chrysalis with a few friends, it just isnt very creative or compelling Celestia suffered from this long before Twilight became a Princess, too. Hell, on episode friggin 1 Nightmare Moon returns amd Celestia doesn't show her face until she's been defeated, on Discord's episode she decides to literally only send letters to twilight instead of tryin to face discord herself in any way lmao. She's smart for that, thats for sure

I've written Celestia a couple dozen times, but I never ever want to just cut her out of a fight or a struggle just to make another character look better. And hell I don't even use the old superman excuse where she 'doesnt interfere bc if she goes all out she'll be too powerful and kill everything' she's a thousand years old! She's had centuries to refine her power and capabilities!

But I digress. My response to "This show does a character dirty" is never to take that in face value and interpret them as dirty too. Like, just bc the show tells me Cozy Glow deserves to be in Tartarus, doesn't mean I'll blindly believe them >:/ Just because the show tells me Celestia is useless doesn't mean I'll blindly accept it! After all, useless fraudlestia ran Equestria for a 1000 years. Perfect Twilight Sparkle didn't even canonically last 100.
