I can only ever like less-than-good media bc if something is too perfect there's nothing to think about over and over again about how I would fix it. This is how I interact with most series these days LOL

11-min era is crazy. NO ONE dies from seasons 11-13 (aside from temporary videogame deaths,) then season 14 kills off FOUR characters (Trimaar, two Merlopian Guards that Kalmaar merced in the same ep as Trimaar, and then Kalmaar,) and then no one afterwards (the Overlord doesn't get to count, his spirit went back into dormancy.)

I got silly and infodumped againā€¦
The fact that crystalised despite being the worst ninjago season by far- showed that for a long time now, possibly since season 11 has had his emotions turned off. Is crazy to me. Because I know Cole had a pretty okay moment with Zane about it and he ended up turning it back on in the same season or maybe even same episode I canā€™t fully recall. But I donā€™t know how mentally fucked these characters are or what- but I feel like no one stopped to think about that for enough time. Like Cole, heā€™s a very caring, affectionate, empathetic guy. Yet even he didnā€™t really seem to register the implications this had for Zaneā€™s mental health. Zane is filled with so much emotional turmoil that he physically couldnā€™t bear to feel anymore. And this group of traumatised young adults were like- ā€œoh haha Zane, thatā€™s so quirky, thatā€™s so silly of you, haha relatable anyway-ā€œ Like duuuude I donā€™t know if this is the writers wanting to avoid actually discussing mental health in a ā€œchildrenā€™sā€ show or if these characters have had such little emotional awareness and support through their lives, almost dying everyday since they were teenagers that they are so desensitised to the horrors tm that they literally cannot tell when someone is basically holding a sign over their head saying ā€œI NEED SERIOUS HELP.ā€
That kinda says a lot about Sensei wu, doesnā€™t it? I mean heā€™s great we Stan- but he did kinda adopt a bunch of struggling teenagers and burden them with saving the world and then allowed them to put themselves in harms way for years, without ever sitting them down and asking them if they were okay, emotionally? Like I donā€™t know if this happened and I didnā€™t see it or if it was implied to happen off screen but I really doubt wu was any sort of a support system for these guys that treated him like a father figure.Ā Ā
Maybe itā€™s because this cycle of pain goes back to wu as well, because heā€™s not the most stable person in the world either, but idk it feels crazy to me that these people that were basically family. Just- never checked in on eachothers well being or looked out for each others mental issues.
I mean they never really got a break and when they did- hell the only reason season 11 happened was because wu, so obsessed with the ninja being in tip top condition urged them to do something, which led these idiots to unleashing Aspheera and then ended up with probably the worst fate you could wish upon a Lego, for Zane. Seriously the fact they turned the ice emperor thing into a joke is so tone deaf to me like if this happened to your friend. In real life, (just suspend disbelief for a second) you would be absolutely GUTTED. Youā€™d probably feel SO BAD. And that person? Probably canā€™t function like a normal individual anymore. Probably needs serious therapy.Ā Ā Not a joke.
I donā€™t hate wu, I never did. But I just think heā€™s been very irresponsible with the way heā€™s handled his students and while heā€™s wise in some aspects 70% of problems in the show couldā€™ve been avoided if this old man valued communication.
And if this isnā€™t based on the characters flaws. And itā€™s Lego refusing to discuss mental illness and mental health. COME ON LEGO IT WOULD EDUCATE YOUR YOUNG AUDIENCE ON PTSD, ANXIETY AND HOW TO HEALTHILY DEAL WITH YOUR PROBLEMS. Because right now, if you wanna deal with issues the ninja way, YOU BURY THEM AND TAKE THEM TO THE GRAVE AND YOU NEVER COMPLAIN OR REST.
All I want is at least one episode where itā€™s not all about the current bad guy or plot and itā€™s just about the ninja actually confiding in one another and trying to help their friends out. Maybe Zane or Lloyd finally snap and have a full mental breakdown and the only way to deal with it is for them to actually talk about it and work it out. Iā€™m sure you can make a compelling episode with that in mind. Theyā€™ve tried to address mental health in the show with Lloyds anxiety arc thing in DR they need to do better.
We need a scene in DR where Zane and Frohicky are at the monastery while the other ninja are doing stuff, (maybe Iā€™ll work out the details more and write something on this) and something happens where all the pain and trauma and just, awfulness just builds up in Zaneā€™s mind and he just. Has a moment where he cracks. And he stops working on whatever heā€™s working on. And Frohicky notices the shift in the air and suddenly his entire demeanour changes and he comes over concerned and Zane is standing there or kneeling and Frohicky puts his hand on his shoulder and asks. ā€œAre you okay?ā€ And Zane just doesnā€™t know how to respond. He tries to shake everything off but he canā€™t, heā€™s never been asked that before. And Frohicky starts babbling on trying to help him and offers to get him set up so he can rest, and Zane doesnā€™t have the strength to object or the will to say anything and heā€™s just like.
ā€œI.. donā€™t know.ā€ In a final response to the previous question.Ā
And itā€™s just a scene where Zane accepts Frohickys gesture of kindness. And while not everything is fixed obviously. You can slowly see the tension leaving him.
Because it matters if someone asks you if youā€™re okay. It reaches into the darkest place and offers a hand saying ā€œIā€™ll listen.ā€ And that could genuinely change someoneā€™s life.

The Ninja's Roles Within the Team
Something I think the various Ninjago shows do really well is the characterizations of each Ninja. If it was bad, then kids wouldn't wanna watch the show or buy the Lego sets to reenact their favorite moment and create new scenarios for the Ninja to go through.
However, for the past few years a problem I've had with the TV show is that some characters feel more... useful than others. Then there are moments when one character is missing, but the team seems to operate just fine without them, and I think that does a real disservice to the characters.
In contrast, take the ATLA episode "Sokka's Master". It's one of my favorites because it separates Sokka, the only non-bender in Team Avatar, from the rest of the team. The episode demonstrates to both us and the rest of Team Avatar why Sokka is essential to their team. Without him, they're bored, can't figure out where they are or where they're headed on a map, and are overall completely directionless. Its like the precursor to those dime a dozen fantasy mangas where the weak member of a dungeon divers gets fired and the rest of the party ends up deeply regretting it.
I want the Ninjago TV show to demonstrate to us why each member is essential to the Ninja Team, and why without one of them the Ninja Team is worse off or have to work twice as hard to compensate.
Dragons Rising had such a good opportunity to explore this, but unfortunately it seems like the biggest problem the Team faces from being separated across the merged realms is lack of manpower and not much else. In lieu of this, here are some of my ideas as to how each character could prove to be essential to the Ninja.
Lloyd - The Leader. This one is definitely the most obvious. He's had a very clear leadership role since he became the Green Ninja, and ever since Wu left this distinction has only gotten more pronounced. However, I do find myself wishing to see a bit more of a dark streak with him. He was originally introduced as an antagonist, and I don't know about y'all but I still find myself enjoying Three Days Grace ever since I played the Halo 3 campaign at a friend's house while listening to AMVs of their songs.
Kai - The Weapon Master. Although there was never anything to support this, I always thought that Kai made the weapons that the Ninja used in the pilots. He is a blacksmith, after all. I think it would be cool if this aspect was more leaned into and not only make him the guy that creates all the swords and throwing stars and whatever other simple weapons the Ninja use, but to also be the best one at using those weapons. A sword is obviously his go to, but put any kind of simple weapon in his hands and I think he'd be able to use it very well. Imagine how much cooler it would have been in season 11 if Kai managed to defeat Aspheera's sheer power with his incredible swordsmanship skills. It'd certainly tie into his arc that season much better than what we actually got.
Jay - The Scout. Remember that scene in the pilots where the Skulkin cars were trying to reach 88 mph or whatever and Jay was gaining on them just by running? The writers sure don't! Though in all seriousness, whenever the Ninja need to learn a new technique to do something, Jay always picks up on it really quickly. First to perform Spinjitzu and summon his Golden Weapon Vehicle, second to unlock his true potential, third to summon his Elemental Dragon, he managed to surprise Ronin when practicing Airjitzu, not to mention his laundry list of hobbies. If they really leaned into his speed, combining that with his skills as a Ninja would make him perfect for running ahead and reporting back on the enemy forces. In my own little world, I like to imagine him as a PG version of the Scout from TF2 (Jay even had a slight Boston accent in the pilots!).
Cole - The Muscle. This one is also fairly obvious due to Cole's signature Earth Punch, but I feel as though it should be noticed more when he's not around, especially in Master of the Mountain. If I'm remembering correctly, they don't fully acknowledge his absence until they're locked up in the Vengestone cage about to be executed. If I regularly hung out with a dude that could lift a car over his head, I'd be lamenting about his absence whenever I needed to lift a heavy box.
Zane - The Information Officer. Another obvious one, but in this case I feel as though they lean a bit too heavily into it. Yes, he's a robot and yes, it's his job to know things, but I want to see his more dorky and silly side from time to time. Give us more Zane following a bird because it danced and him just chilling (literally) in the fridge at midnight for no reason type of stuff. After all, his greatest fear is losing his humanity.
Nya - The Strategist. I feel as though on a 'don't judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree' level, Nya is just as smart as Zane. Due to his physiology, Zane can hold much more raw information many times over Nya, but I feel as though Nya is much better at putting that information to use. Going back to Master of the Mountain (I realize I'm referencing it a lot, its still fresh in my mind), when Kai and Zane were lost, they relied entirely on the raw data from Zane's internal compass, and because of that they got lost and had to rely on Geckles capturing them to reach their settlement. On the other hand, when Lloyd, Jay, and Nya were lost, Nya was able to determine the location of the Munce settlement by searching for signs of life and finding footprints. Also, I think this characterization fits the Master of Water really well considering water adapts to whatever environment it resides in.
The new Ninja from Dragons Rising are still very inexperienced and still haven't really found their grooves within the team, but I'm still gonna try and analyze them here.
Arin - ???. Right now, Arin's main skills are his unique Spinjitzu skills and his talent with a grappling hook. Its still so early in his Ninja training that he hasn't really carved out a distinct role for himself, though I hope this changes as time goes on. Not too long ago I proposed a cool idea for his future if any of y'all wanna take a look at that here.
Sora - The Technical Specialist. While I don't enjoy the idea of PIXAL being replaced as the Ninja's primary vehicle builder, with Sora being the Elemental Master of Tech it seems very possible that this is where things are headed. Instead of that, I think it better for her to either focus on using her skills in the field or to specialize in Mechs. Both of these ideas come from the Elemental Mech mini-series. I thought the idea of switching up parts on a mech in the middle of a battle to be a fun concept and one giving credence to her being a Field Tech, and whenever she uses her Elemental Powers its for the purpose of creating or altering or fixing a mech about half of the time.
Wyldfyre - The Dragon Expert. Even before the Merge, the Ninja encountered Dragons a lot. Now that there are dragons seemingly everywhere, Wyldfyre seems like the perfect liaison for communicating with these dragons, assuming she can learn to cool off when its needed. She also seems to know a good amount about dragons, considering that she was easily able to identify the Wasting Sickness and make a soup to help ease the pain it caused. There's still a lot she needs to learn before anyone can consider her an expert, but with her love of dragons and the belief that she is one, I think she'd be more than willing to learn.
And there you have it. If you have any ideas or head cannons or questions surrounding this topic, I'd love to hear them!

More Headcanons about FSM family
10#
As a child, Lloyd resembled his father, only he had a different hair color, but as he grew older, he began to look less and less like his father (seasons 2-7). In seasons 8-15 he started to look more like his grandfather when he was Lloyd's age until in season 16 he looked identical to FSM (When FSM was a teenager, of course) (apart from the eyes, FSM had one purple and the other gold)
11#
In some flashbacks we see FSM wielding a sword, so I say that FSM is a master swordsman, and considering that Lloyd became the second master of spinjitzu (The Ultimate Spinjitzu Master) in total and was supposed to learn FSM's fighting style, which brings us to the fact that Lloyd is a master swordsman, because in the series we only see him using a sword (I don't remember him fighting with any other weapon), so the best sword master was FSM (no one can match him then or now) and right behind him in second place is Lloyd.
12#
After season 10 and "Lloyd's death", Wu has nightmares that Lloyd didn't wake up, that they really lost him, every time he is terrified and goes to check if Lloyd is okay, Wu can't lose the last member of his family. One time when Wu went to check on Lloyd, he wasn't in the room and Wu almost had a panic attack, he searched around the monastery until he found Lloyd in the kitchen as soon as he saw him he ran to Lloyd and hugged him and didn't want to let go, while Lloyd was completely confused and a little scared, later they talked about it and from then on, Lloyd began to be more careful during missions so as not to give his uncle a heart attack.
13#
Lloyd, due to his heritage and elemental powers, is strongly connected to ninjago, if something threatens the land he can feel it, when all dimensions merged Lloyd felt great pain due to the ninjago lands being torn apart. After the fusion, he realized that because of this event he had scars on his chest that looked like cracks.
14#
Lloyd's golden power hurt him when he fought the Overlord, he didn't feel it because of the adrenaline, but later it turned out that the golden power was too powerful for Lloyd's body (mainly because of his human part) so after the fight he realized that it was on his hands (from his hands to his shoulders) scars appeared that looked like they had been struck by lightning, they were golden in color and when Lloyd used his power they began to glow. Lloyd, of course, didn't tell anyone and he just started traveling around ninjago to learn how to control it better and see if his body gets used to it. Lloyd still has those scars to this day and come on the golden power is gone the scars still glow when he uses his elemental power but this time in green.
15#
After becoming the Golden Ninja, Lloyd received many powers and improvements, for example, his healing became faster, he had greater endurance and improved senses but one of the strangest changes was that the blood turned gold, yes Lloyd had golden blood.
16#
Lloyd is literally the reincarnation of FSM, he has his powers, he can do what he does and he is a perfect hybrid (a combination of Oni, dragon and human) same as FSM (only FSM wasn't human but still a perfect hybrid).
17#
Due to his heritage and being the next incarnation of FSM, he has perfected Spinjitzu and uses it often in his fighting style (I don't know if it's just me, but Lloyd seems to use Spinjitzu more than the others)
18#
Due to the power he has and his connection to Ninjago, Lloyd when angry can cause cracks in the ground or mini earth tremors, which are usually harmless but still need to be careful, that's why Lloyd has the best composure of all the ninjas (well, except Zen)

So Iā€™ve finally got some of my thoughts on the new season in order and letting my self sit on it for a while
Dragons rising season 2 spoilers!!!!!
So first off holy shit this season has managed to completely wipe out any fears I had for season two. Iā€™m a generally anxious person and am pretty naturally pessimistic about most things and was pretty anxious about season 2 because from the stuff shown in trailers and promotional vids it looked like a ā€œLloyd chosen oneā€ plot line and I have a history of hating that kinda thing because itā€™s been beaten to death in ninjago at this point. While a bit of that was there I found it was done quite tastefully and didnā€™t overwhelm everything else story wise.
I felt that the pacing of the first 6-7ish episodes was a bit all over the place. Having the training arc and the Cole-Zane plot lines happen in the same episode with the pov switching back in forth felt a little bit off to me.
Sora and arins character arcs are shaping up to be pretty good. Soras more confident in her self than season one and sheā€™s trying to help Arin but I feel like the whole using her elemental power to help Arin will backfire into her face. Arinā€™s insecurity and the whole how can I be useful if I donā€™t have an element I fell is being handled way better than the dumb kai arc in season 11(dw I will get to that when I get to kai) and itā€™s about on par with the Lloyd powerless plot from hunted. I am really excited to see what they do next and if Arin will be really mad at sora or not cuz like heā€™s super nice and stuff and I fell like he would be sad instead of mad.
Nya didnā€™t really have a lot going on personally except the stuff with Jay which Iā€™m iffy on because so much of Nyas character in older seasons revolved around Jay and I just hope they donā€™t go back to that and let her character breath a bit.
In the topic of Jay I really really REALLY hope he isnā€™t evil. That the idea because itā€™s really out of character and they are already pushing my buttons with the lost memory crap because thatā€™s something that Iā€™ve rarely seen done well at all and it makes me very nervous and I just donā€™t like it. I do like that Jay just seems to be a guy who hates his job tho thatā€™s fun.
I think the writers are just having fun with Zane and I think thatā€™s cool. I do wanna punch the administration guy who said Zane isnā€™t a person because he is and heā€™s a bean and I will not allow this nobody to slander him.
It was nice to see more of Cole this season. I swear him and geo are so cute. The hand holding and the fact that they basically adopted two kids together is amazing and I am fully on board for this ship.
The villans were really interesting. I hope they keep up the quality with them because the mystery of rasā€™ master and wtf happened with jordana is really exciting. Cinder was intresting and as someone who has no interest in men what so ever I am kinda baffled at why so many people want this man but hey you do you. I do wonder what happened to ash tho. The member of the forbidden five looks interesting too and part of me is hoping that the leaked ā€œevil jayā€ minifig is actually this guy just powered up cuz the color palette is similar enough and I just donā€™t want an evil jay.
Wyldfyre is amazing her whole leg being broken then sneaking on the ship to the exasperation of kai (like he would totally have pulled something like this a few seasons ago the hypocrite <3) and the others was so good. I am curious about her talk with egalt she mentioned one of her family members getting the wasting sickness but it canā€™t be heat wave cuz he seems fine so maybe she had more than one dragon guardian??? I do hope that Kaiā€™s portal abduction does affected going into part 2 and that she bonds with nya and the others over it.
Egalt and rontu were very interesting to me and Iā€™m glad they didnā€™t go the route of them being the actual creators of spinjitzu and kept the lore consistent I was slightly worried about that. Hope they come back in part 2 too.
Bonzle was a big surprise for me. I likes her personality in season 1 but I didnā€™t expect her to be so important. Sheā€™s really sweet and the scene with wu was great too.
And finally last but definitely not least, the best character in this entire show and my favorite comfort character to beat the shit out of
KAI
IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. I LITERALLY HAVE NOT BEEN THIS HAPPY WITH AN EPISODE SINCE SEASON 4 EPISODE 7 THE FORGOTTEN ELEMENT (iykyk) I was literately kicking my feet like a little girl and crying and screaming my head off to the point I woke up other family members. Him unlocking the rising dragon technique by having his sister help and being in harmony with his family is so fucking sweet and I cried like a little bitch it was so good. I am also so happy that they used his old hair and didnā€™t just slap a smaller version of his current hair onto him (tho I kinda wish they had used the fucked up custom hair that was in the older episodes but I doubt that model is even in their hands so whatever(side side note I love the fucked up hair so much itā€™s so stupid I love it and will forever miss it)) him being such a dad to wyld fire was so sweet and then using the rising dragon technique after he saw his family in danger was just perfect. I do kinda wish there was more of a dramatic reaction to him getting yeeted by ras into the portal (kinda like any of the other ninja ā€œdeaths/major injuriesā€) but im fine with what we got. Except I kinda hate that only nya has an outward reaction in the aftermath. No lloyd reaction no Cole reaction and nothing from Zane and it makes me mad because every other time a ninja had their moment there was a whole team reaction. But Iā€™m feeling like thatā€™s to nitpicky and thereā€™s still ten more episodes to fix that so fingers crossed. But kai also encouraging bonzle to close the portal even if heā€™s trapped inside is such a kai thing and hit me like a truck. Also him calling bonzle kid dispite her being much much older than him is funny and sweet cuz Kaiā€™s big brother/father figure side is coming through and itā€™s so sweet. And the ninja never quit line is so great I was sobbing even more after that. (Tho I donā€™t know why he said he got it from Lloyd when it would have made more sense to have it be from master wu cuz thatā€™s where he learned it but eh whatever).
While im really happy about kai finally getting some well deserved angst im also very anxious about it too. This could be the perfect opportunity for the writers to just conveniently forget about him for a while and idk if i could sit through that. Kai is a huge part of why I watch ninjago and heā€™s always been handed the shortest stick character development wise and technically he never got his own focus season either (and no i dont count the pilots because that focused mainly on all the ninja and was only two episodes, i also donā€™t count season four because it was more a group season, and season 11 doesnā€™t count because he got a half baked b plot that sucked) Iā€™m very worried that I will loose enjoyment in the show because I dropped the show out of disappointment after season 11 because A LOT of premonitional material made it seem like a kai season and I got my hopes up and was let down so much. Iā€™m very cautious when getting excited about things involving kai in particular because of that and Iā€™m just hoping the writers donā€™t fuck it up.
Ok thatā€™s enough negativity for once. Iā€™m so excited for more and am foaming at the mouth for more!

Note
All seasons have something good in them no matter how crappy they are.
Rebooted has the most emotional scene in Ninjago and some pretty decent humor at times.
Skybound has a fairly malleable plot and an interesting dissection of Jay. Some of the members of the pirate crew are also pretty neat.
Day of the Departed is a pretty fine story that can be connected to mental health topics and boasts lots of Ninjago music along with developing both some Ninjago history and what music is popular in Ninjago.
Hands of Time is funny as heck. Also gives a glimpse into what the serpentine have been up to.
Season 11 Fire Chapter had a memorable villain that was funny at times.
Season 11 Ice Chapter had a new world to work with and a couple interesting designs and concepts.
Prime Empire adds on to the pocket realms of Ninjago with the unique looking designs of the game, not to mention the Avatar forms of the ninja!
Master of the Mountain had amazingly choreographed fights and was touching in the ways that it handled Coleā€™s relationship with his mom.
The Island has nice suits and a couple good jokes.
Crystallized Part 1 has nice lighting and attempts a more mysterious tone. The occasional bit of good comedy is also present.
Crystalized Part 2 exists, but hey, Nyaā€™s back! Also, gay people real in Ninjago!
Tournament of Sources introduces new elements, locales and cultures to the world and I feel like itā€™s a bit of a love letter to Tournament of Elements.
And lastly,
The Lego Ninjago Movie has the occasional good bit and brought wider audiences to Ninjago that sparked a mini renaissance in the communityā€™s creative spaces. I have also played the game to 100% about three times, so thatā€™s also something! Also, the Garmadon though not show accurate is a riot!
Long story short, look for the silver lining!
(For this I went off of general fan opinions on what seasons are ā€œbad.ā€ I personally enjoy Skybound through Hands of time and Prime Empire!)

Sensei Garmadon: How are you today?
Oni Lloyd: Please donā€™t make me think about my life.

Tbh I'm really curious about what made the Ninjago writers want to turn Cole's fall into a running joke. Aside from the initial fall in March of the Oni, you also have:
His March of the Oni teaser poster (which is debatable but I'm considering it a joke about his fall because without context it feels like they're saying he's gonna die but nope. They mean it in the most literal sense)
In season 11, he falls off a cliff in the Land Bounty in a dream (might be a stretch but I don't doubt that it's a reference to his fall in season 10)
In season 12, he falls off the Cliffs of Hysteria while fighting some Red Visors, saying "Not again!" while trying to regain his grip on his rope
In season 13, The Real Fall is just one massive reference to Cole's fall in March of the Oni
In Crystalized, after the ninja get trapped in the tunnels, Cole responds to Kai's question of "How deep down are we?" with "I've been deeper" referring to his fall and subsequent time trapped in Rock-Bottom (again, this one's debatable but I'm adding it anyway)
Considering Cole was likely traumatized by this (hell, he was traumatized just from being touched by the Oni cloud) and the fall itself is heartbreaking, what possessed the writers to make Cole's fall a running joke

I have a pretty shoddy memory and Iā€™m not about to fine-tooth comb seasons 4 and 11 to find hardcore evidence for any of this, but I feel like you could draw a connection between aspheera and clouseā€™s ā€œsorcery/dark magicā€ stuff somehow. It makes certain things connect and bit more and make a bit more sense, at least to me.
Like, the magic stuff in season 4 definitely comes out of nowhere. We already have elemental powers, but apparently ā€œmagicā€ is a thing? Different magic than the stuff weā€™re already used to?? Feels kinda out of place. And apparently one of the spells Clouse can do just so happens to turn people into Anacondraiā€”well thatā€™s just totally random, the writers are just making shit up at this point. If this kind of magic existed, we would have seen it by now.
Except we wouldnā€™t have, because the ones who created and practiced that magic were nearly wiped out before the events of the show even startedā€”the serpentine.
When season 11 comes along, we learn about Aspheera, and about how a suuuuper long time ago, back when ninjago was practically brand new, there was such a thing as a serpentine ā€œsorcerer,ā€ who served at the side of the king. Obviously things have changed since ancient times, and that stuff doesnā€™t really exist anymore. It might make sense for Chen to be into that sort of thing; he was a huge weeb for snakes after all. He mightā€™ve encouraged Clouse to study ancient serpentine magic stuff in order to feed his inner snake-weeb. (I donā€™t remember if we ever got a real explanation for why Clouse was into the magic stuff umm. Just feel free to correct me if any of this sounds dumb idk!!)
I just think itā€™s interesting how a possible reason we never heard of the sorcery stuff before season 4 is because itā€™s been a couple thousand years since it was prevalent and also in part because of. Yā€™know. Serpentine war.
(Also I wasnā€™t like, super hardcore paying attention during season 11, so Iā€™m just tacking this onto the end here: were the serpentine all united in Aspheeraā€™s time? Did the 5 tribes thing come later, like they split up somehow?? Is that how it worked???? Cuz if so, that could lead to some cool lore implicationsā€” like, they started with one type of sorcery, but then when the tribes split up, different ā€œsubsetsā€ and ā€œspecializationsā€ started popping up. Maybe Clouse doesnā€™t just practice serpentine sorcery, but specializes in Anacondrai sorceryā€¦. or smthn)

My [NEW AND UPDATED] Ninjago Serpentine Headcanons!! [PART 1]
This time im starting off with my fav, SKALES <333
1. Slithraa was his father / somewhat of a father figure to him. However not exactly a healthy one
2. Skales is not only the newest general but also the youngest in my eyes, being born (hatching technically) in the tomb, I headcanon him to be around his mid-twenties
3. Bisexual. No elaboration. I'm right
4. After Pythor "disappeared", Skales continued to be haunted by him mentally, because Pythor achieved what he wanted so much easier and better than he had (even if it didn't last)
5. Due to being raised in the Glacier Barrens he took some time getting used to the warm weather of Ouroboros.
6. In his youth he was exposed to alot of physical violence, either from fights in the slither pit, teasing from fellow serpentine or from Slithraa which resulted in his habit of flinching
7. He wasn't too fond of children until he had a son of his own
8. Despite his confident appearing personality, he definitely is a bit insecure underneath. Often feeling the need to brag about his achievements and disliking when people belittle or underestimate his abilities.
9. He does NOT know how to drive and he's lucky he's only crashed once (as far as we know)
10. He had a stutter when he was small
11. He has a tendency of getting jealous easily
12. Somewhat of a control freak (litteraly)
13. squeamish, does not like getting ANY even slightly filthy substance on him
14. When it comes to how well he gets along with every general (best to worst), Fangtom, Pythor, Acidicus, Skalidor, (+plus honourable mention Slithraa in last)
15. Would curse a lot if the writers had allowed him to
16. Has a tendency of pinching himself when he's upset with himself
17. hates crying in front of others and in general as well as he feels it is embarassing. (also has a tendency to supress a lot of his emotions)
18. Was raised under a lot of toxic masculine standards
19. during s1-2 era, coffee person, s3 and beyond, tea person
20. Had a horrid sleep schedule up to season 3. Very often sleep deprived
21. Leaves out a lot of details regarding his past when telling stories of it to Junior
22. Feared parenthood for a long while due to his own childhood
23. He barely knew his mother as she starved in the tomb when he was really young
24. Despite always claiming to view survival as the only essential goal, he does care a lot about his vanity and appearance
25. Is really close with Fangtom because he was one of the few serpents Skales could confide in

Something I noticed about DR is that the show is paced like it'll have infinite time. It feels weird especially since Ninjago used to have standalone 22 minute 10 episode seasons and 11 minute 16 episode seasons. It feels like DR seasons have less content because they're expecting to have more overall seasons.
I definitely think Dragons Rising has too much run time for its own good. It's good to have a long term plan, and to have enough time to execute said plan, but too many pans on the stove at once makes for a messy cooking experience, you know? You also end up hanging a lot of your quality on how good the finale is. We shall see how it pans out...

Guess what I gott!
A) something actually useful for my future
B) diagnosis I've been meaning to get for multiple years now
C) new Morro AU
D) finished day of Morrotober
.
.
.
.
.
If you guessed C, YOU'RE CORRECT!
Yeah, so in scribbling my Day 25 prompt and doing a little bit of research (looking at a fandom wiki page) on Euphrasia, I stumbled upon the line of her hiding her wind powers so she won't get exiled.
Now I, someone who has not watched Dragon's Rising because I have yet to finish Crystalized (I'm so scared based on other's reviews), immediately went "but why??? Why would she fear being exiled??? Unless, someone else * cough Morro cough * who also had the Element of Wind * cough cough hack Morro cough * got exiled as well?" So, of course I had to remember that one person whose user I can't recall who had a theory/AU that Morro was exiled from Cloud Kingdom and I took that, shoved big brother Morro into the mix, and shook that bitch until some word vomit came out.
So, now I've got my thought process out on how I got here, let the brainrot speak!
Morro was created. Yayyy!
Mama made a biiiig oopsie, and the punishment was her son's exile, marked by the distinctive dark green streak in his hair.
Specifically, the punishment she got was "Lifetime of Guilt", which takes the most cherished person in the offender's life and essentially puts it through hell until they are dead, forcing the offender to feel a literal lifetime's worth of guilt for causing all of that pain.
Baby Morro is set free in the world of Ninjago, in which the Destiny Writers make a pointed effort to make his life miserable, as is the punishment.
However, destiny rewrote itself, throwing the kingdom into a panic. Morro defied destiny and started learning under Wu.
The Writers tried for years to fix this mishap, which failed again and again and again.
Until, one day a decision the Writers could control came upon them; the choosing of the Green Ninja. They rejected Morro without a thought, and lead Morro to his burning painful death in the Caves of Despair. Since he was exiled by the Cloud Kingdom, he was sent to the Cursed Realm.
At this point, Mama had died, so the Writers ignored Morro until he defied destiny again by escaping the Cursed Realm.
Season 5 happens, but I make it better because I can. Oh yeah, and Garmadon fucking lives because fuck canon.
Morro lives, and tensely lives with the Ninja until post Season 7, where he ditches because Wu is lost to time.
In the time that Season 8 and 9 would take place, Morro sneaks around in Cloud Kingdom to learn why his life sucked so much. Insert him discovering what Mama did and her punishment.
He gets angry and is about to destroy all of the Destiny Scrolls, but meets little tiny Euphrasia.
Poor baby was abandoned by her parents and no one wanted to take her in.
They talk and bond and Morro decides she's now his younger sister, but due to plot convenience, he discovers Season 10 spoilers.
When the Ninja are debating what Garmadon meant by his whole cryptic ass warning, Morro bursts in being like "holy shit these evil smoke Oni things from the First Realm are gonna try to destroy everything" and shoves the scroll in their face for proof, completely ignoring the like 7 year old girl clinging around his neck
They kick ass, and Morro rewrites destiny for Lloyd because I don't care about Lloyd's little trip to grandpa's and decided I'm gonna do something more meaningful, like Morro yet again sticking it to Cloud Kingdom, this time to help the Ninja.
The Ninja, Morro, Euphrasia, Wu, and Garmadon do the bonding thing over the months between Seasons 10 and 11.
Speaking of Season 11, the Ninja fuck around and find out, Zane kinda dies like in canon, the Ninja all kinda kill themselves like in canon, Season 11 basically just plays out like it would if Morro and Euphrasia were chilling there as well and on Pixal and Wu's plotline.
During Season 12, instead of being fucking hunted down like the Ninja, Morro and Euphrasia are just vibing in some wholesome area, roleplsying and playing dress up. They're having the time of their lives, then they leave the game and talk with the Ninja and holy shit that's why there was a bounty on your heads???
During Season 13, Euphrasia does some windy stuff, and while the Ninja are busy stopping slavery, Morro teaches her some basic control of her powers (to him. It's actually decently complicated, Euphrasia's just a fast learner and Morro can teach well). They show up with Vania last minute to kick ass.
In Season 14, Morro's powers go out of wack, Euphrasia kind of lost her powers, and Nya's are over amplified. It is not fun for them. Morro is questioning his worth and all that jazz, but this time he has a bit of a support system (Euphrasia. Also the Ninja kinda all go "dude, you have worth outside of your powers. Been there, done that, it's fine," just nicer).
I will add another post here that covers Crystalized because I haven't watched it yet šŸ˜‹
Also, I'm calling this AU "Cursed by Destiny"

I hate people who are like ā€œname one person whose suffered more, Iā€™ll waitā€ and they show a picture of Lloyd or Jay.
ok bestie sure
Pooor llloyd waaa heā€™s such a poor hurt traumatised baby, who totally hasnā€™t had the entire world look up to him and admire him SPECIFICALLY in the actual ninjago tv show, since he became a ninja, no itā€™s not like everyone wasnā€™t treating him like a king since the moment he got essentially adopted by them, having a whole team of loving supporting people. No itā€™s not like he literally turned into the main character- sure heā€™s been through shit, but like.
Can the fandom stop acting like Lloyd is this terrible hurt sad person when in fact the entire series is often in his favour? Everythingā€™s about Lloyd, it always has been. Everyone loves Lloyd. Lloyd will always be loved no matter what he does.
but HEAVEN FORBID ZANE INTERUPT SOMEONE TO TELL THEM SOMETHING IMPORTANT. HEAVEN FORBID ZANE HAVE EMOTIONS.
HEAVEN FORBID HE ACTUALLY GETS RESPECTED BY THE TEAM INSTEAD OF GASLIT.
WATCH THE SERIES BABES.
NO ONE. RESPECTS ZANE AS A PERSON. THE FIRST TIME HE WAS TREATED LIKE AN ACTUAL LIVING, HUMAN BEING. A PERSON. NOT A ROBOT THAT CAN JUST REAPPEAR. A PERSON. WAS WHEN SENSEI WU WAS MOURNING HIS DEATH IN SEASON 11. SENSEI WU IS THE **ONLY** PERSON. TO EVER ACTUALLY VERBALISE SO MUCH RESPECT AND GENUINE ADMIRATION TOWARD ZANE.
EVERYONE ELSE. BESIDES HIM AND HIS LOVE INTEREST. AND SOMETIMES COLE.
TREATS ZANE, LIKE A TOOL, A BUTLER. AN ICE MACHINE.
LLOYD IS NOT THIS BIG INNOCENT BABY THAT NEEDS TO BE SHELTERED. EVERYTHING ALWAYS WORKS OUT FOR LLOYD. YOU KNOW WHO ACTUALLY SUFFERS THE MOST??
ZANE.
AND YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TIME HE ACTUALLY GETS TO RECOVER FROM ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO HIM?
LIKE 2 SECONDS BEFORE HE HAS TO GO BACK TO FIGHTING. PEOPLE ONLY CARE ABOUT HIM BEING DEAD BECAUSE THEY NEED HIM FOR THE TEAM- THEY DONT GIVE HIM A MOMENT TO BE LIKE, DAMN IM ALIVE I NEED TO REST I NEED TO RECOVER.
THEYRE LIKE. OOP LOOKS LIKE ZANES AWAKE TIME TO SEND HIM BACK OUT INTO THE BATTLEFIELD.
THE ONLY TIME. SOMEONE HAS STOPPED ZANE FROM SPIRALING. IS COLE. HE TOLD ZANE NOT TO SHUT HIS EMOTIONS OFF. THATS RIGHT, THIS BOY, THIS POOR INNOCENT BABY. HAS BEEN TREATED SO TERRIBLY THAT HE PHYSICALLY COULDNT BARE HAVING FEELINGS ANYMORE.
this man has been BROKEN so SEVERELY that he PHYSICALLY COULDNT BARE. HAVING THE ABILITY TO FEEL PAIN ANYMORE. SO HE TURNED IT OFF.
AND NO ONE.
EVEN THOUGHT.
TO LOOK INTO THAT.

hAH HI MONDO
I was hoping you would reblog it because youā€™re the author, I wanted to bug the most. >:)ļæ¼
Picked 4 questions cause Iā€™m greedy ļæ¼
When you think youā€™re all alone:
5. Is there any scene you're excited about writing?
11. Is there any scene you can't wait for people to react to when reading? Why?
15. Do you have any unwritten scene that you think about a lot?
20. Give a vague description of something that will happen without revealing too much
Not a question, Iā€™m very excited for any more Wytyaa. If it gives you motivation ļæ¼Iā€™m waiting for next chapter to come out to do more animatic/animation. :D
Going to rework what I already have be more fitting and better quality, Iā€™ve been practicing my animation because I want it to be ļæ¼the best I can do. You should see the mysterious animatic Iā€™m working on when it release it itā€™ll show you where Iā€™m at :)
That song touched me in a way, I love how the resilience echoes in your story. I want my art to make people feel things. Iā€™m very committed ļæ¼I promise itā€™ll be finished one day.
Iā€™d love to get startedā€¦.. But dang looks like someone gotta write the next chapter XD
Oli thank you so much!!!!! asdfghjkl i totally get it donā€™t worry and i gotchu. i make it a point to write at least a little portion of it everyday bc iā€™m so excited abt chapter 7, but thereā€™s just so much i wanna cover itā€™s gonna be a long ass chapter
5. Is there any scene youā€™re excited about writing?
very much so!!! i have a plan in place for how i wanna have the others find out about skybound, or jay and nya telling everyone about the horrors, but itā€™s a ways off from happening
11. Is there any scene you canā€™t wait for people to react to when reading? Why?
thereā€™s a few actually! thereā€™s a nya centric portion thatā€™s gonna start the next chapter that iā€™ve very proud of bc iā€™m taking inspiration off of personal experience. another scene where i expand on the fact that mustache told nya what jay wouldnā€™t. and im super excited to get to everyone elseā€™s pov to everything, especially cole bc his and jayā€™s relationship is something i cherish
15. Do you have any unwritten scene that you think about alot?
since chapter 8 is going to dip into the seasons following skybound, im very excited to explore the fact that nya saw jays birth mother when she and kai went back in time in season 7. and im gonna deal with the whole ninjago decoded debacle
20. Give a vague description of something that will happen without revealing too much
the team is gonna take a trip to the hospital bc mustache wasnā€™t always a pirate
thanks for the ask! :D

HELLO
So I have finished both season 10 and just last night season 11 of ninjago!
Season ten I finished at like 1 am staying up late to watch it so that's why I forgor to post about it
So I'll do that first!
Season 10 was a 10/10!!!
Really liked garmadon's characterization. My favorite part was when a random ass guy explained the meaning of life to him. I liked seeing Faith again. I thought the Cole death fakeput was really well done. Specifically how it like, tied into multiple things going on with the story. This shows always been good at that. Like how the grief leads to garmadon character moments and also internal struggle for nya and sense Cole's actually fine now we have to parrelell threads of story to follow and wait to reconnect
SEASON 11
Holy SHIT
-I think I like the new rendering style, it makes the colors look brighter. No real opinion on the added hair texture but I enjoyed the added texture to clothes and stuff. There were some scenes where I was like 'animators having fun' and really that's what I think is most important :3
-Cole's dumbass soda hat my beloved
-loved the episode where they were just like: looking for problems. They are all such silly Billies. Borderline menaces on occasion
-also loved the episode with the paperboys and the news network. I've thought a lot about the citizens of ninjago city and these episodes finnally gave me a proper look into it. Was not dissapointdd!! I am delighted!!!
-jumping ahead here but pixel and Zane's reunion hug was SO fucking cute. My God. There little photo too!!!! My God there always adorable together but it still just ajgfiabduaks my heartttt. Tbh personally I see them as more of a qpr/soulmates kinda thing rather then a conventional romance. Like just, they love each other and that's all that matters <3
-GOD DAMMIT the ice emperor shit goes SO hard. Lots for the fanfics to explore here.
-I fucking LOVED how they had the hand on the scroll all frozen over and whenever he stood up from the throne there was ice breaking just my godddddd
-also I am sorry to admit I did at one point think to my self 'very Elsa core'
-I feel like there was a lot of things this season why I found myself thinking that there's three sides to every story. A lot of stuff where I felt like what we the audience were being shown wasn't quite the reality. I think the episode with the jailbreak proves this. Like with aspheera and wu. I'm sure there's something more there. That ashpeera's retelling of events would be different. Maybe king mamba was actually a huge asshole or smth. Idk. The point is there is something unknown there... CUE THE FANFICTION PLEASE.
-this leads into vex. I'm CERTAIN his story of leaving the formlings and when he came back to give evil speech went down VERY differently then what we were able to see. Not that Vex snt a fucking loser piece of work. He stalked a vulnerable individual and went 'I can manipulate this guy! '. Just that I thing things are a little more complicated then what we saw. Kinda like with nadakhan: still a fucking horrible person, but there was some characterization that showed them as A person. Rather then a stand in for a generic monster. I think that makes them scarier monsters actually
-speaking of monsters Krag was great. Love how Cole really just went 'Krag comes with us, Krag is friend now'
-I loved akita! Fun design!!!! She'd bite people for fun and she's real for that
-god dammit Zane's little goodbye video message was so fucking sad and sweet
-oh yeah the random ass 2d segments! I defiantly enjoyed them! They weren't perfect but who cares. I wonder like: how that happened tho???
-welp that's all from the top of my head.
