⚠️ HUGE Spoilers for SoM (Case 39) ⚠️
I need to wrap my head around the revelation case 39 dropped, so it’s ponderin’ time. And the ground that supports all of my thoughts rests on these bits of Exhibit F:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because Logico wrote SoM to be an alternate prequel. Where he creates a different backstory on how he met Irratino isolated from how it really went in Volume 1. More notable information for later includes how he wrote SoM after Volume 3 of Murdle.
SoM being a non-canonical story in the murdle-verse makes more sense as to why SoM Logico had a whole “the lamp looks weird” moment with the impossible triangle. Because the world around him literally doesn’t exist in the canon that the main three volumes established. And the dialogue in case 39’s answer section nods in this direction. If you need a refresher, here’s how that went:
Tumblr media
I theorize that this dialogue isn’t only representative of SoM Logico but also our Logico from the original three volumes since he wrote him.
How? Well.
As he spirals, SoM Logico pinpoints a more vivid story from what I think were other potential directions this alternate prequel could have gone based on author Logico’s memories. Yet, this identified story remains vivid because it’s the real one, the truth. Logico and Irratino didn’t speak at Deduction College. Logico was too shy to get Irratino’s name. Logico would eventually meet Irratino in Volume 1.
But Logico didn’t want to meet Irratino later. It wasn’t “soon enough.”
Our Logico is the one who “thought about this time so many times,” most likely while brain-storming SoM. Because our Logico wishes things had gone differently. That the story he tells in SoM was how it actually went. Maybe that’s even why he wrote it to begin with, despite Volume 3 ending in an “emotional cliffhanger.” He neglects to continue the canon story to tell this one. It became a higher priority.
Going at it from the perspective that Logico wrote SoM exactly like we have it, I imagine the blurb of dialogue in case 39 was something he intentionally placed to preserve continuity. It acknowledges that the two didn’t meet this way but moves on quickly because the rendition isn’t over yet. This might be why SoM Logico suddenly wakes up with a ruby pin the next morning. This pin, and the fact that it’s actually made of garnet, continues the plot Logico setup, so SoM Logico needs to have it.
This explains why SoM Logico still talks to SoM Irratino at graduation in case 40 like they've known each other. The “we never talked at Deduction College” doesn't apply to them, so they continue the story like they normally would.
Like how Logico intended.

A dude who was released from prison after serving time for killing his wife and raping a nurse wants to go back to a women's prison forever.
By Genevieve Gluck January 11, 2024
A German killer who began identifying as transgender while incarcerated is requesting to be locked up with women for the rest of his life. Thorsten Heinz P., now known as Monica P., 57, was recently released from a women’s prison after completing his sentence, and appeared in court on January 10 asking to be returned to a female-only facility “forever.”
Monica, whose surname has been withheld in accordance with German law, filed his bizarre request at the district court of Essen on Wednesday with his defender. He had been released from a women’s prison after completing a combined 30-year sentence for convictions pertaining to the murder of his wife, a burglary attempt, and two instances of taking hostages while incarcerated, including binding a nurse and forcing her to perform “completely degrading sexual acts,” reports Waz.
Currently registered as “female” on his identification, Monica is being held in a psychiatric institution but is seeking permanent placement in a women’s prison on the basis that he believes he can neither be rehabilitated, nor is able to cope with life outside of a jail cell.
Tumblr media

“I can no longer manage my everyday life,” he told Judge Martin Hahnemann at the Essen court, insisting he be returned to a women’s prison. “Sometimes I would like to hit my head against the wall and make it bleed… I don’t deserve freedom – at least not yet. I have caused enough suffering… I’m still dangerous.”
On December 28, 1992, Thorsten Heinz strangled his wife to death with a clothesline at their home in North Rhine-Westphalia. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the killing, and at an undisclosed time during his incarceration, began identifying as transgender and taking female hormones.
While detained, he twice took staff as hostages: one victim was a priest, and the other, a nurse, who he proceeded to sexually torment. For these offenses, his sentence was extended to 25 years.
Thorsten was released at the end of his sentence, but soon after threatened two married couples from Iserlohn with robbery in their homes. This, he claimed, was an act of desperation conducted in order to return to prison.
According to limited information provided in media reports on the recent court hearing, Thorsten’s transgender status is a recent development that occurred within the past five years.
He is currently facing charges of faking a crime after turning himself in to the police in Gelsenkirchen while wielding a steak knife and fabricated a story about committing a robbery. Thorsten, referred to in the press as Monica and by feminine pronouns, stated that he had just attacked a stranger in Feldmarkstrasse. However, the alleged victim was able to flee unharmed. When Judge Hahnemann asked him how far he would go to get back to prison, he hesitated, then said in a quiet voice, “I can’t answer that for you… I don’t want to hurt anyone and no longer produce any new victims, so I think I should be locked up forever.”
The case is scheduled for another court hearing on Friday.
Tumblr media
According to 2021 government data for the region of North Rhine-Westphalia obtained by German women’s rights activist Madeleine, known on X as @missdelein2, a total of 9 “trans people” were imprisoned for crimes that year, of which five were placed in women’s prisons. Over the last five years, decisions regarding accommodations based on self-declared gender identity had to be made in 39 cases.
Speaking with Reduxx, Madeleine slammed the German government for “insitutional gaslighting” and a failure to “recognize women as human beings.”
“What we are seeing here are the consequences when the German state does not recognize women as human beings. They are locked up with a male killer, and he is rewarded for his crime. The German state has the gall to to call it a women’s prison to validate his so-called ‘gender identity,’ though in reality the prison no longer exists for women,” she said. Madeleine cited research provided by Johann Endres, from the Bavarian prison system’s criminology service, which states that a “legal change of sex in prison” has not yet been made a reality. The Transsexual Law of 1981 requires that an individual undergo a probation period of ostensibly living in the role of their preferred sex before an alteration of sex markers on identification can take place. Therefore, according to Endres, male inmates are being transferred to the female prison estate illicitly.
Endres also reports on complaints from women in prison who felt harassed because one man who has been legally considered a “woman” was touching his testicles while walking in the courtyard.
“I therefore assume that the woman-killer Thorsten Heinz P. was transferred to the women’s prison without going through the so-called transsexual law,” Madeleine said. “The transfer of men into women’s prisons illustrates the institutional misogyny in the federal state North Rhine-Westphalia.”

86 + 39 for GerIta please?🙏
86: I didn't mean to turn you on
39: Survival/Wilderness Fic
a/n: I haven't written for character x character before, so I hope it's okay!
CW: SFW but extremely suggestive, GerIta
Just between us
Times of war were always trying. Having to work their way through Africa was proving to be the most draining, especially for Germany who was struggling to adapt to the sweltering heat. However, even though the day light brought boiling temperatures, nightfall came with its own harshness―freezing temperatures.
Despite having brought the necessary means of setting up camp, the frigid wind still managed to cut through the tent, leaving those within it to shudder at the unpleasant bite of cold.
Germany had barely been able to cope with the boiling heat earlier that day, but now the dried sweat had felt as if it'd turned into frost. Although Italy had been warning him that the shift in weather would be extreme, he failed to take his warnings seriously. In hindsight, it should have been obvious―Italy was used to such climates. Being as stubborn as he was though, he chose to let himself wait out the long period in the desert, despite how miserable it may be.
This night in particular was harsh; the chilling winds had picked up and felt like lashes against his poorly covered body. Such abrasions woke him up and made it impossible to fall back asleep. Looking over at Italy, he envied his ability to sleep damn near anywhere. His light huffs and stirring indicated that a bad dream was underway.
A nightmare would only cause that night to be more troubling―his screams and cries would undoubtedly bring on a whole new kind of pain. Germany decided it'd be best to hold him, practically smothering the terror out of Italy's dreams.
Cuddling close to him, Italy felt warm, much warmer than he thought he would. He couldn't help nuzzling closer for more warmth. The chilled touch of Germany's body stirred Italy awake, though.
Faintly, he asked, "What's wrong, Germany?"
"Nothing. You were having a bad dream. Go back to sleep."
It wasn't going to be that simple for him. In spite of the cool touch, Germany's body felt nice against his. Feeling Germany's light breaths puff against his hair was oddly comforting too. Shifting his legs, his feet were gently placed against Germany's calves. Without thinking, Germany's body eased in closer to Italy's, greedily soaking up each bit of body head radiating from him.
A meager push against Germany's pelvis was all it took. Burning bright, Germany froze in his current state: too embarrassed to stay put but too flustered to move.
The sudden desire poking against his backside stopped Italy from continuing his restlessness. After a moment of silence, he broke it with, "S-sorry, I didn't mean to turn you on."
Throwing himself off of Italy, Germany protested against that ever being the case. Even though he'd clearly shown how upset he was by Italy's comment, he didn't leave the shared bed. Instead he turned over on his other side and attempted to fall back asleep.
Although he felt a twinge of guilt from bringing out Germany's bashful side, he didn't want the physical closeness to fade entirely. Hesitantly, he inched closer to his back, and gently rested his forehead against it.

God republicans are so funny about the ACA. It’s not unpopular. Cope and seethe. “The February 2024 Health Tracking Poll shows that about six in ten U.S. adults (59%) hold a favorable opinion of the ACA while about four in ten (39%) hold a negative opinion of the law. Views of the ACA are still largely driven by partisanship; nearly nine in ten Democrats (87%) along with over half of independents (55%) view the law favorably, while about two thirds of Republicans (67%) hold unfavorable views.” The only people who dislike it are people who already think like you. Which most people don’t. Just for the record I don’t think taxation is theft. I actually like having a water and sewer system.
Even for republicans talking about repealing it isn’t important or popular. “Republican voters are far less interested than Democrats in hearing the candidates talk about the health care law, according to new polling data released Friday by KFF, formerly known as the Kaiser Family Foundation. Only 32 percent of self-identified Republican voters think it’s very important for candidates to talk about the future of the Affordable Care Act, the poll shows, compared to 70 percent of Democrats.” You might not want to hear about it, but you’re not in the Democratic base. No one thinks they’re ever going to convince you to vote for Joe Biden so why would they waste time trying to pander to your vote when you disagree with the base on basically everything?
(Also you should read the fact sheet re: 2 million more homes. They’re not saying the government will build 2 million more homes, they’re going to use market interventions to encourage more building AND more preservation. Between preserving NOAH and incentivizing more affordable development and more affordable unit types- triplex, duplex, etc, we can manage the supply side challenges. They’re also encouraging communities to loosen their zoning codes through grant funding, a pilot version which started last year- the PRO housing grant that was very popular with municipalities. This is NOT a call for the government to personally pay for more housing, often it’s just the government encouraging more diverse housing typologies to even be allowed to be built.)
You're either new here or think you're smarter than you are.
I don't care what hardcore Republicans think about ACA and I don't care what hardcore Democrats think about it. No one's changing their minds. They're going to vote how they're going to vote. I don't know why Biden is wasting time talking to hardcore Dems now when he should be talking to independents, who are still moveable. And ACA is not the talking point you want to hit if you're talking to independents.
Tumblr media
The KFF poll you cite found that Obamacare favorability is down 10 points since last year among Independent voters.
ACA is slightly above water with them now. But this trend does not look good for Dems. And it gets worse when you start to talk about the specifics of the package beyond the Dems' two favorite talking points - and even those fall apart pretty quick when you poke at them a little. This is a very flimsy case for Dems.
But the good news for you is that healthcare is not a top issue for voters in this election. Biden should consider that a win, in and of itself, and not remind voters that he's done pretty much nothing on it since he was vice president because here's your other problem, according to that same KFF poll:
Tumblr media
Even among people who like Biden more than Trump in regards to healthcare, they pretty much all agree that Biden still sucks.
This is not about my opinion. If you want my opinion, I'd be happy to talk about how an Obamacare plan would cost me three times as much as the non-ACA plan that covers exactly the same stuff. I'd be happy to talk about how the government considers me uninsured because I obviously picked the cheaper plan and if it weren't for Trump, I'd be shelling out money for penalties and fines every year. I'd be happy to talk about how the changes to Medicaid billing that were passed alongside ACA created an entire new industry of leeches who have driven the cost of prescriptions up dramatically, reduced the patient choice, and worsened health outcomes. I'd be happy to talk about how those billing changes also forced independent practices out of business and caused the entire industry to consolidate into a small number of massive organizations who now control pricing at their own whims, which means costs have gone up even more.
But like you said, my mind is made up. I'm not voting for Joe. So my opinion isn't that important. That's why I'm looking at this as nothing more than electoral strategy. And the Dems are making a mistake.
And thank you for directing me to the White House 'fact' sheet on the housing stuff. It's actually worse than I thought. Can't wait to see my rent go up more because of this. I thought we were just going to make it harder for me to buy a home one day but I guess I get to enjoy the fun while I'm still a renter. This plan is a fucking joke.

I want to see what you can come up with for WitchNight for domestic bliss: 3, 4, 6, 9, 11, 14, 23, 27, 39, 40
OTP Asks - Domestic Bliss Edition!
so that's why you asked about the ship name...
for those who don't recall, WitchNight is My Hero's Midnight and RWBY's Glynda Goodwitch! As such, these answers will be set in the RWBY in My Hero-verse since that's where the pair originated from. Also please note that I use Midnight's real name as opposed to her hero one here. so let's go!
3. What’s one book/DVD/CD they both owned a copy of before meeting each other?
This is gonna sound a bit cheesy, but both of them owned the same book, and this is what actually got them to become friends before becoming more than that. It was the first in a whole series, so the pair started talking about the books before talking about other topics and finding they had more in common than they thought. As for the book series, it was a copy of Howl's Moving Castle, something that had been recommended to both of them. They got a little too into it, though Gylnda refuses to admit it. go read the books if you haven't, they're really good.
4. Do they wash their clothes in the same load or separately?
Separately, mostly because the fabrics of their clothing are different materials that need to be treated differently. Found that out the hard way when they tried to wash their clothes together in one load shortly after moving in together.
6. Who picks what colour bed linen they buy? What does it look like?
Nemuri does! She knows which sheets are the good kind, so Glynda left it to her. Their bedsheets are durable and soft. Nemuri buys them in two separate colors: a dark, satiny purple and an off-white color that has a purple tint to it. She feels that it matches both their aesthetics perfectly. They usually switch them out depending on which ones are currently being washed.
9. Who will buy Girl Scout Cookies when they knock on the door?
This is once again, Nemuri's thing. She usually only does it when Gylnda isn't home, though. Girl Scout Cookies are definitely some of her guilty pleasures, and she gets a bit embarrassed by how many she stocks up on when cookie-selling season comes around.
11. Do they play music in the background while they’re just hanging out at home?
Usually not while hanging out around the house. It's some low, jazz, a classic piece or a random song that one of Nemuri's students recommended she listen to. It will be playing while the pair are working -- either doing housework or paperwork (or in Nemuri's case, also grading papers and setting up lesson plans). When the students' recommendations pop up, it always catches Glynda off-guard.
14. Which partner snores more loudly? How does the other person cope?
She doesn't look like it, but it's Nemuri. It's not often, but there are moments when she does. It's usually when her nose is clogged -- either by allergies or because she's under the weather. Glynda will usually cope by going into another room and sleep on the couch or in the guest room until Nemuri can breathe properly again.
23. Which partner writes love notes in the steam on the mirror?
This is surprisingly a thing that both of them do. Primarily because they know that the other has a rough time with work, so whoever gets home first will usually leave a message in the mirror when they know it's going to be a long day for the other. It's just a sweet little pick-me-up. Nemuri's notes are usually longer (and depending on her mood, more explicit) that Gylnda's short and sweet ones. Nemuri takes pictures of all of Gylnda's notes for when she needs a little encouragement to get through the day.
27. How do they organize their books/DVDs/CDs? Are they kept separate, or together? Alphabetically? By genre?
The moment that they moved in together, Gylnda took charge of that whole thing. She is very meticulous in the way things are organized. Dishes by size and color, soap bottles in the bathroom by whose is whose and when they're used -- same thing for any other hair product or skin care product that they have. Makeup is by type, color and owner. So, their books, DVDs and CDs (if the latter two are still a thing in the future that this takes place in) are organized by her. All are sorted by genre. Book series are usually kept together because it would drive her crazy otherwise.
39. Who’s more likely to lock themselves out?
Nemuri has forgotten her keys more than once, simply because a lot of her clothes do not have pockets. This is the reason that they had to put a spare key kept under the mat.
40. Who’s more likely to invite other people over?
Once again, this is Nemuri's doing. Though, it's usually just Mic or Aizawa crashing on their couch because their apartment is too far away and they're too tired. Ozpin, Qrow and Winter Schnee have all done this, too. There is also instances where Jaune has spent the night, and that was because he had been too overwhelmed at home, couldn't get his schoolwork done there and his grades had begun to slip. As his homeroom teacher, Nemuri did what she could to help him by letting her use her own place to study and get work done peacefully. He's only stayed when he's missed the last train home. Gylnda thought this was odd at first, but over time came to accept it when she realized how much her partner cares about her students.

Sitting To Know Your Collection September (24) Roundup
______________________________________________________________
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sitting To Know Your Collection: Week 34 (September 2nd - September 8th)
Album: Public Warning (2006) by Lady Sovereign Play Count: 1 and Some Change Top 2 Tracks: - Public Warning (Track 4) - My England (Track 6)
Fun, but you can tell she’s doing what they do currently, which is talk a bunch in hopes that someone will say something to try and get her “canceled.” Or the other more common one of the 2000’s , “I’m not like other girls.” It’s not every song, but they are themes that exist across the album. She’s just being cocky and getting a little bit in your face. It goes on my imaginary list of unofficial music that gives me UK Skins or Misfits vibes. I liked it more than I thought I would. The beats are actually pretty good and she does have some decent flows tucked in there, the album as a whole just might be much for some folks.
PS: It’s gonna be a long 4 years and if you use humor and music to cope add the song Tango to the playlist lol. 😂 🍊
TW: A lot of use of the M-word, in reference of herself.

Sitting To Know Your Collection: Week 37 (September 2nd - September 8th)
Album: There’s A MOTH In Your Chest (2007) by Mason Proper Play Count: 4 Top 2 Tracks: - The World Is Smaller Than You Think (Track 8) - Blue Lips Eternal Inquiry (Track 18)
I got this album from my boss in a pile of CDs she was giving away. I took the chance, not knowing anything about it and I will say it wasn’t bad. The bottom half of the album gave real indie-sleaze vibes. After the song The World Is Smaller Than You Think, I would look up and realized that I am paying attention now. Like it was background music until that point and then my ears were there and very interested. It’s a cool little album that I’m glad I took the chance on and will now check out their second album.

Sitting To Know Your Collection: Weeks 38+39 (September 16th - September 29th)
Week 38 Album: North (2003) by Something Corporate Play Count: 4 Top 2 Tracks: - She Paints Me Blue (Track 8) - Space (Track 2)
Week 39 Album: Everything In Transit (2005) by Jack’s Mannequin Play Count: 2 and Some Change Top 2 Tracks: - The Mixed Tape (Track 2) - Rescued (Track 9)
Note: I combined these two because they bled so closely into one another during their binge time.
September was my concert month and Something Corporate was the 2nd show I was going to. Since I needed to beef up my knowledge, I chose North first and added in Everything In Transit just in case they added in any Jack’s Mannequin into the setlist.
It was a great binge that first week, even if it was for a “homework” assignment. I was falling in love with the pop punk, piano rock that I had no doubts about. It just worked. That second week however took a little bit of a dive.
By that second week for EIT, I had consumed so much Something Corporate that I was a little tapped out. It was running through my Spotify on loop as well. That was also the week of the concert, so it was truly just a lot. Don’t get me wrong, the album is great and the show was fantastic, I was just ready to listen to something/someone else by the end of that two week period.

Sitting To Know Your Collection: Week 40 (September 30th - October 6th)
Album: I Wish We All Could Win (2005) by The Afters Play Count: 2 Top 2 Tracks: - Beautiful Love (Track 1) - Until The World “Theme from Beautiful People.” (Track 2)
This album was so youth group that although decent, was a little heavy handed for me. This is the second “Christian Rock” album from “the scene” that I spun this year. When I was more actively listening to The Afters, you know around high school, I was more into their MySpace stuff and didn’t realize just how religious it all really was. It wasn’t bad by any means, but if that’s not your vibe, it can feel like a lot. Not saying I didn’t know, just that I wasn’t aware of how much of it was actually a feature cause I mostly played the hits all the time. The re-listen left nothing to vibes though. Even if this wasn’t your thing, go check out the lead single “Beautiful Love” and you’ll probably be reminded of something from your past, whether MySpace or a TV show and that’s enough for me.

Chapter 10
T H E M Y S T E R Y O F C A T A S T R O P H E
OUR RESPONSE
Love your enemies. MATTHEW 5:44
Moving from denial to acceptance. In 1969, grief expert Elizabeth Kübler-Ross observed that when we lose a loved one, or any kind of sudden tragedy strikes, we often process our shock and loss through five distinct stages. The first is denial, followed by anger, then bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance. All of these are mechanisms the human heart turns to in order to cope with something that is simply too painful. Having travelled the world for the past dozen or so years, often speaking about the harsh reality concerning radical Islam, and most specifically what the future holds as it pertains to global Islam, I am convinced that the vast majority of the church is still presently locked somewhere between denial and anger. There are multiple mechanisms through which Christians remain in denial. Within circles given to the study of Bible prophecy, there are various popular theories as to how Islam is going to be removed from holding any place of global influence. This is often envisioned as occurring through an imminent series of prophesied wars. Passages such as Ezekiel 38-39 and Psalm 83 are looked to as support for this.
As prophecy teacher David Reagan has commented, that the war of Ezekiel 38 will result in the annihilation of nearly all the armies of the Muslim nations of the Middle East. . . . Thus, if the Antichrist is a Muslim who is going to rule a Muslim empire in the Middle East during the Tribulation, then he is going to rule over an empire that has been reduced to ashes. Others, primarily within the Charismatic and Pentecostal movements, often speak of such a mighty revival sweeping the Muslim world, that the threat of Islam all but disappears. In both cases, these visions are used as coping mechanisms to help Christians remain in denial. While it is certainly true that there are more Muslims coming to faith right now than at any time in the history of Islam, even if these numbers continue to skyrocket, it is still not going to be enough to make the challenge of radical global Islam simply go away. Likewise, while the Bible does indeed predict divine judgment being leveled against the coming coalition of nations adversarial to Israel, a more careful study of the context of those passages places their judgments at the time of Jesus return. We are faced with the undeniable reality that a future where radical Islamic terrorism continues to dominate the global landscape remains and where tremendous persecution for Christians is common. As the body of Christ, we must move beyond the phase of denial regarding the relevance and challenge of Islam in the days ahead. Then there are those who have made the next step into anger. As I travel and speak on the issue of Islam, I find no shortage of Christians who fall into this category. Their primary heart reaction to the topic of Islam or Muslims often borders on rage. Any survey of the caustic comments section of nearly any online article about Islam will produce dozens, if not hundreds, of comments expressing that the best response to the problem of global radical Islam is something along the lines of total extermination. Muslims are far too frequently dehumanized and deemed worthy of only death. These kinds of sentiments are often mingled with ample biblical citations and rhetoric, indicating that many of these comments come from those who view themselves as Christians. Our hope with this book is that all who read it will come to the final stage of grief. to the place of acceptance. Until the global body of Christ comes to accept the great challenge ahead, they will not be able to begin walking out a Christ-centered response and most certainly will never develop any kind of strategic gospel-centered action plan.
WHERE ARE THE BONHOEFFERS
I’ve always greatly admired the foresight of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. During the early days of the rise of Nazism in the 1930s, while most German Christian leaders were silent, Bonhoeffer was boldly warning the German church concerning the dark cloud that was descending over his nation. Despite his foresight and the dark times in which he lived, Bonhoeffer was no doom prophet or wild-eyed alarmist. He was first and foremost a man with a shepherd’s heart for God’s people who sought to prepare them to live as disciples of Jesus during such an evil era. As then, so also today many Christian leaders are unwilling to truly face or acknowledge what lies ahead. Unlike in Bonhoeffer’s day, today there are many voices warning about the rise of radical Islam, but they are functioning much more as doomsday prophets, cursing the darkness but doing very little about it. Few of the voices are from leaders who are soberly aware of what is coming and are also forming a strategy to guide the church through the days ahead. Where are the Dietrich Bonhoeffers of our day. Where are the prophet. shepherds rallying God’s people to awaken from their slumber to stand firm, victorious even, as it faces the last Reich. Oh that the Lord would raise up an army of wise shepherds, a mighty throng of Bonhoeffers to guide the Lord’s people through the time of great trial that is closing in upon us. This is the great need of the hour. Although the purpose of this chapter is not so much to lay out an actual strategy, it is in the spirit of Dietrich Bonhoeffer that we hope to lay out a proper Jesus centered heart response to the current darkness on the immediate horizon.
As we have repeatedly stated, Islam is now, and will continue to be, the greatest giant to confront the people of God. Until Jesus returns, this Goliath will continue his satanic mocking and taunting of the servants of God. Today, much of the church stands on the opposite hill looking across at the armies of the giant Philistine, afraid and confused to the point of paralysis. Others are simply unsure of how to respond. One thing, however, is clear. we must respond. Just because this Goliath will not ultimately be defeated until Jesus returns, does not mean that we should sit back and do nothing. As we said, the purpose of this chapter, and to a larger degree, of this book, is not primarily to detail a specific strategic action plan, as there are hundreds of various strategies whereby we might respond in a gospel- centered way to the rise of Islam. Again, the primary purpose here is to discuss the proper Jesus-centered heart response. How should we be directing our emotions, our heart, our energy, and our prayers in the face of such a colossal challenge. For some, the natural response is to somewhat passively await the return of Jesus for deliverance. For others, it is to take a more active posture, confronting Islam through activism, the legal system, or even militarily. None of these responses is entirely wrong. Indeed, we as followers of Jesus should eagerly yearn for the return of Jesus. It is also right for Christians to engage the world through political activism and at times, even support their governments when they engage evildoers with the sword of justice. The real issue here is first determining where our priorities lie and second what a proper Christ-centered heart posture should be toward the challenge of Islam. If we can get these two issues right, then the amount of energy that we direct toward these two matters will naturally regulate. Thankfully, in determining both the posture of our hearts and where our priorities should lie Jesus has already shown us the way, having both taught and demonstrated these things while He was here on the earth. As followers of Jesus, we are called to imitate His example and to implement the things that He taught.
IMITATING JESUS - EMBRACING THE CROSS
It is easy to say that we as Christians are called to follow Jesus, but rarely do we know what that means in our daily lives. Let’s consider what following Jesus means specifically as it relates to the growing challenge of radical Islam around the world. In the Gospel of Luke we find an amazing verse that might easily be missed if we do not pay careful attention to the details. Jesus, knowing full well that betrayal, mutilation, and finally a cross awaited him, said, When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem Luke 9:51 ESV. The King James version says that, he steadfastly set his face. Jesus was not simply ready for what was about to befall Him. He was actually steadfastly determined to embrace the cross. With eyes wide open, Jesus pushed forward toward the day of His execution. Only a few verses earlier Jesus had quite directly revealed to His disciples what awaited Him in Jerusalem, explaining, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day v22. Then He immediately issued what is arguably one of the most difficult challenges that Jesus ever issued to His disciples. If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me v23 . The conclusion is undeniable. Anyone who desires to follow Jesus must also willingly embrace their own martyrdom. For clarity, this is not to say that we as Christians should deliberately pursue martyrdom. By no means. We are not to be suicidal. On the other hand, Jesus made it clear that we shouldn’t deliberately seek a safe and comfortable life. Quite the contrary. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it v24 . Everything in this world screams, save yourself. This is largely why Paul spoke of, the offense of the cross Gal 5:11 NIV . No one naturally enjoys suffering, relishes in making great sacrifices, or even desires to die. Yet this is precisely what the Lord has called us to set our faces steadfastly toward. If this calling potentially involves our own death, then so be it. We are not those who live in fear of death, rather we are those who lay down our lives for the sake of others. To up the ante, even more than placing others first, Jesus actually laid down His life for His enemies. As Paul the apostle reminds us. Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man, though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8
Likewise, we also are called to lay down our lives for our enemies. Jesus commands us to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you Matt. 5:44, and again He calls us to love your enemies, do good to those who hate you Luke 6:27 . The reason is simple. The Scriptures teach that, while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son Rom. 5:10 . Since the Lord has, committed to us the word of reconciliation 2 Cor. 5:19, it is our job to pursue the reconciliation of God’s enemies. As Jesus treated us, we are to treat others. If the message of the cross was offensive before, then how much more offensive is it when we realize that the Lord calls us to actually lay down our lives for our enemies.
THE MARTYR AND THE MURDERER
There was a very religious Jew, a leader in his community. This man was simply infuriated by the growing Messianic Jewish movement that was spreading throughout Israel. Among the new messianic believers was a young man who was very passionate about his faith. He had become a deacon in his local congregation and was a truly shining example of a young man filled with the Holy Spirit. The young man also had a gift for sharing the gospel with his fellow countrymen who lived in and around Jerusalem. The young man was so effective in his public proclamation of the truth that the older religious Jewish leader felt that he had to confront him. He took a group of men from the religious community and actually murdered the young man in cold blood, in the streets of Jerusalem. It was a horrific event that reverberated through the messianic community. Here was this shining-faced, vibrant, young believer whose skull was literally crushed simply because of his faith. While the older man who instigated the murder didn’t actually cast any of the stones, as the Bible indicates, he did stand there, holding the coats of the others who did, all the while giving his hearty approval. The gifted young man who was filled with the Holy Spirit was Stephen. And the man who stirred up the persecutors was Saul, who later became known as Paul, the apostle. It’s shocking that the Lord specifically chose to use a man who was formerly a murderer, seeking to terrorize the relatively young community of Jesus followers. But this was indeed God’s choice. This was the man who the Lord picked to redeem and then use to pen much of the New Testament. This was the man whom the Lord chose to give apostolic, fatherly leadership to so many of the early churches throughout the ancient Mediterranean world. If the Lord could use a zealot like Paul, essentially a terrorist, then how can we say that all terrorists are beyond His reach today. How can any Christian ever suggest that the only solution for the problem of radical Muslims is annihilation. This is not to say that Christians need to oppose military operations to destroy terrorist cells or militant groups. The Lord has given the mandate to governments to wield the sword and protect its people. The point here is to emphasize the primary calling of followers of Jesus as it pertains to the rise of global terrorism. Our job is to seek the salvation of as many as possible, not to seek their destruction. The more that Satan seeks to raise up an army of his own from among the spiritual sons of Ishmael, so should followers of Jesus make it their priority to snatch as many Muslims from the fires of hell as possible. Now is not the moment to make self-preservation our highest priority. Now is the hour when Christians across the globe must rise up to give ourselves to see Muslims come to faith. We are called to rescue Muslims from God’s wrath because that is what Jesus did for us.
SNATCH THEM FROM THE FIRE
On October 12, 2002 just a little more than a year after 9 11. there was another large-scale terrorist attack in Bali, Indonesia. At that time, I had been engaged in a lengthy e-mail dialogue with a young Muslim convert from England named Jimmy. The terrorist attack at the Sari Club, a popular tourist hang-out, resulted in the death of 202 people. Another 209 were injured. What shocked me at that time was the incredibly cold manner in which Jimmy supported the terrorist attack. According to his reasoning, because the victims were not Muslims, they essentially got what they deserved. I suggested to Jimmy that there was a good chance some of the two hundred or so mostly young people would have converted to Islam sometime during their lifetimes. Would it not be more reasonable, I asked, for him, as a Muslim, to be opposed to their killing and instead seek to convert them. Wouldn’t you wish to save as many as possible, rather than send them to an eternity in hell. I asked. But according to Jimmy, the purpose of Islam is not to save as many as possible from the torments of hell, rather its purpose is to establish shari’ah. Allah’s laws, according to Islam. on the earth. According to Jimmy’s rationale, the public killing of these infidels, would do much more to help establish the fear of Allah, and thus a willingness to submit to his laws, than would a few converts to Islam. He had no compassion for those who were murdered. It was through that conversation that I gained a much deeper understanding of the difference between the god of Islam and my God. The god of Islam, it seems, has his priorities set on establishing his dominance over as many as possible, with very little concern for those who are lost in the process. The God of the Bible said, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly John 10:10. The God of the Bible actually laments those who are wayward, appealing to them to come to Him to find life. ‘As I live. ’ declares the Lord God, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways. Why then will you die. ’ Ez. 33:11. Jesus, who is the very essence of God in the flesh, was very clear in stating His priorities.
The Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. What do you think. If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying. If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish. Matthew 18:11-14
The implications are clear. Saving lives, saving souls, is God’s priority. Since this is the very nature of our God, so also should we imitate and represent Him. Our mandate in this age is not to act like the god of Islam or any of his more radicalized followers, seeking to send as many Muslim terrorists as possible to their death. No. For, the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them Luke 9:56 . So also should we make it our priority to save souls. Our job as followers of Jesus is to snatch as many from the fire as we can. In this age, we are to partner with our God in His grand rescue mission. On the first Sunday following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, Carter Conlon, pastor of Times Square Church in Manhattan preached a sermon titled 'Run for Your Life'. It is one of the most moving sermons I have ever heard, and I encourage everyone to look it up on YouTube and listen to the sermon in its entirety. Here is a portion of the sermon. Listen to me like you’ve never listened to me ever in your life. . . . My mind is forever branded with the stories that I heard of police officers from the city of New York. As people were fleeing from a crumbling building, there were police officers and firemen and others who were running towards the buildings saying, Run for your life, even at their own peril. And in some cases, I believe they knew they were going to die, but there was a sense of duty. I was crying out to God, I said, God, oh Jesus, don’t let my sense of duty be less for Your Kingdom than these beloved firemen and policemen were for those who were perishing in a falling tower. We’re living in a generation when truth is falling into the streets. I want to be among those who are not running away from the conflict, but running into the conflict and saying, Run for your life. This is the kind of response that the last-days church must learn to embody. This is the kind of spirit in which the Lord calls all of His people to walk. This is, after all, the very kind of spirit that God Himself demonstrated to the world when He willingly took on flesh and allowed Himself to be mutilated in order to save us, His enemies. Perhaps no other passage in the Bible better captures our call to follow Jesus’ example of self-sacrifice than Philippians 2. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves. do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:3-8
Oh Lord, help us to become genuine imitators of your Son.
LIVING AS A COMMUNITY OF THE CROSS
If the body of Christ is to respond properly to the rise of radical Islam, then it is essential that we become a people who embody the message of the cross. The church, at its heart, is intended to be a community of the cross. What does this mean. It means that as a people, we lay down our lives, not only for one another but even for our enemies. The message of the cross is the message of the mercy of God to sinners. While preaching the message of the cross is critical, living it is even more critical. It is essential to recognize that Islam is not a culture of the cross.
Islam is a religion whose prophet followed the self-seeking pattern of the world. Muhammad may have used a veneer of religious piety and mission, but his goals were those of any other self-seeking, self-glorifying, self-obsessed individual. In other words, Islam preaches what the world already understands. In the gospel of Mark, Jesus described the nature of the world. He called His disciples together and explained to them, You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them. and their great men exercise authority over them Mark 10:42 . The way of the world is to strive to attain positions of authority in order to lord it over others. While every position of authority known to man is intended to be a position of servant leadership, instead, far too often, when men and woman secure positions for themselves, they use them to empower themselves, even if it means doing so at the expense of others. Again, this is no different within Islam. Muhammad didn’t model a life of servant leadership and certainly did not teach Muslims to lay down their lives for others. The god of the Qur’an does not demonstrate or communicate a self-sacrificial love. This is precisely why the witness of individual Christians and Christian communities who model the cross to Muslims speaks so powerfully. It communicates the very nature of the true God who Muslims yearn to know. When Christian communities reflect the nature of God in this regard, we are proclaiming the truth of what God is like through our actions. Many former Muslims I have spoken with say that the primary pivotal issue that won them over to Christ was that a Christian or Christians loved them unconditionally. This is the kind of love that can win over even the most deceived or hardened heart. Individual Christians and Christian communities must learn how to treat others as God Himself has treated them. By living this way, especially as the darkness increases, our light and witness for Christ will shine the brightest.
BECOMING A COMMUNITY OF PRAYER
Another critical issue, which is far too often overlooked by many Christians, is the necessity to become a community of prayer. This is, after all, what the Father intended for His church. As it is written in the prophet Isaiah, My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples Isa. 56:7 . Isaiah’s reference was to the temple in Jerusalem, which we as the body of Christ are a spiritual, corporate expression of see Eph. 2:21 . The spiritual landscape of the last days will be dominated by two primary houses of prayer on the earth. The body of Christ and the House of Islam. Currently numbering at roughly 1.8 billion, Muslims tend to be, among all the peoples on the earth, the most committed to prayer. It is quite unlikely that a devout Muslim who prays five times a day will leave his religion to join a new religious community that prays much less than he did as a Muslim. If the body of Christ is serving the true God, shouldn’t we be a people far more committed to prayer than those who are serving the false god of Islam. If the people of God ever expect to confront this last great Goliath, then it will only be done after we as a global community commit ourselves to truly living as a house of prayer for all peoples.
DEMONSTRATION OF THE CROSS
Although we’ve already discussed the need to follow Christ and lay down our lives. even for our enemies. we cannot conclude this chapter without taking this discussion a step further and talk specifically about martyrdom. The Greek word martus is translated as martyr and simply means witness. The early church had a solid understanding of the role of martyrdom in fulfilling its mandate to bear witness to the world. This was one of its great strengths that propelled it to become a movement that would turn the ancient world upside down in a very short period of time. Today, the modern church has all but lost a theology of martyrdom, particularly in the Western world. They will recover it, however. Although Christian martyrdom has always been part of the story of the church, Jesus was quite clear that it will reach its culmination and pinnacle in the last days. In His Olivet Discourse, a sermon dedicated exclusively to the end times, Jesus told His followers what to expect during that time. you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me Matthew 24:9 NIV. In the book of Revelation, we are told that when the Antichrist and False Prophet arise, they will be given the authority to kill anyone who does not submit to their religious worship system see Rev 13:15 Elsewhere in Revelation, we are informed that this great number of martyrs will largely be killed through beheading. I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 20:4 NIV
What is so essential to grasp here, is that the martyrdom of Christians, which will reach its peak across the earth in the last days, is all part of the Lord’s perfect plan. In fact, in another passage in Revelation, we are told that the end will not come, until the full number of martyrs is completed. And there was given to each of them a white robe. and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also. Revelation 6:11
At the time of this writing, according to the Christian organization
Open Doors, Christian persecution is at its all-time high. We must understand that this is not some temporary setback that must be overcome. Rather, we are presently in the early stages of the completion of God’s perfect plan. This is a mystery that the church must understand. The Lord has a very important purpose for end-time martyrdom. It is through a great multitude of faithful witnesses who will, like their master, willingly lay down their lives for their enemies that the Lord will give a final glorious witness to all the world concerning the message of the cross, His offer of mercy to sinners. It is specifically through Christian martyrdom that the Lord will give the inhabitants of the world one final opportunity to receive the mercy of God and repent before the day of judgment. This then will be the nature of the church in the last days. They will be a people committed to declaring the eternal gospel to all of mankind as final witness, and then the end will come.
CONCLUSION
In order for the church to rise to meet the great challenge of Islam both now and in the days ahead, we must first be willing to accept the reality that until Jesus returns, Islam, and the global persecution that accompanies it, is not going away. As difficult as it is, the increasing persecution and martyrdom of Christians is the new normal. All of these things were foretold in the Scriptures. Once we come to terms with this reality, then we may join hands in a unified response that is entirely rooted in the imitation of Jesus. This will be a response that prioritizes the proclamation of the gospel, the salvation of the lost to those who are perishing without knowing God. It will be a response that takes seriously the call to imitate Jesus by laying down our lives, even for our enemies. Our response will be to join hands in the greatest rescue mission in redemptive history. Finally, it will be a response that understands the Lord’s purpose for the martyrdom of His saints, that of bearing witness concerning the mercy of God to all mankind. In responding this way, we will fulfill the Lord’s mandate to His people in the increasingly difficult and challenging days ahead.

11, 22, 28, 38 and 39
for Maidris :)
A) Why are you excited about this character?
B) What inspired you to create them?
for you!
hello thank you for the questions !! answering these. 28, 38, and 39 answered already :]
11. How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?
Step One: Anger. Maidris does not like being confused and it makes him very angry. If it’s intellectual confusion, he immediately seeks out a resolution to that confusion.
Step Two: Resolution. Intellectual confusion will be resolved by any means possible. If this means finding the right book, he’ll find it. If this means stalking and interrogating the person who has the answers, he’ll do this too. Maidris takes knowledge and its understanding very seriously. If he’s confused about something, it means that he’s failed.
Emotional confusion is different. He’ll simply isolate himself and/or avoid thinking about it until it’s too late and it all comes bubbling out.
22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
Maidris isn’t a very jealous person. In his mind, he doesn’t really have a reason to be. He can’t claim ownership over anything (everything that is his is his Father's), so what is there to be jealous of? In the case of his relationship with Gortash, it's based on mutual respect and understanding. Maidris doesn’t own Gortash and Gortash doesn't own Maidris. He knows that Gortash has his own needs to fulfil outside of him, and that's fine, so long as Maidris remains his most special interest of course.
If ever he were to be jealous about anything, he would simply pretend he wasn’t. If he doesn’t think about it, it isn’t happening, though if Gortash suddenly had a new favourite business partner, they're probably going to end up dead.
A) Why are you excited about this character?
He’s probably the oc that i’ve developed the most. He’s also the first video game oc that I’ve developed in any material way. The Dark Urge as a concept is so compelling to me anyway, so being able to manipulate the base of that character and make them into my own special guy is very fun. I also just like him a whole lot I think he’s neat.
B) What inspired you to create them?
I made him specifically for BG3 so there wasn’t much external inspiration involved. Other than that though, his character outside of the base Dark Urge character basically follows the vein of ‘What if there was a guy who was so sad and so repressed that when he experiences positive emotions his brain basically explodes?’

BnHA Chapter 302: As the Todoroki Turns
Previously on BnHA:
Tumblr media
Today on BnHA: We have a very fun chapter in which (1) Shouto grows up lonely on account of his parents being worried that his siblings will literally try to kill him, (2) Natsu and Fuyu grow up neglected on account of not being special and/or self-destructive enough to attract attention, (3) we get to revisit all of that exciting spousal abuse from chapter 39, and (4) Touya burns to death right on cue, pretty much exactly like we expected it to happen. Thankfully since this is a shounen manga, Horikoshi finds some hope in all this misery as the Todoroki family rallies together, with Shouto getting his long-overdue credit for being a perfect sweet angel who put up with all of this shit for sixteen years and somehow came out of it strong and kind and empathetic and determined. Anyway, so that flashback was a barrel of laughs. But now that it’s over, we can put all of that angst behind us, and move on to... well I guess, probably, more angst. Look, we’re short on variety at the moment. Bear with it.
ouch. we knew this was coming, but still
Tumblr media
A+ parenting move there. “ho boy, our eldest just tried to murder our youngest, now what? hmm how about we isolate our youngest from all human contact”
though in their defense, we probably shouldn’t have expected this rabidly strength-obsessed fire man and his wife who was groomed since childhood to obey her family’s whims to have any idea of how to raise stable, well-adjusted offspring
SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS
Tumblr media
this is a perfect example of Enji’s tragically self-revolving viewpoint right here. just because being a hero is your entire world doesn’t mean you can just excuse yourself from anything outside of that and act like it’s out of your control. “alas, all I care about is hero stuff and my son can’t be a hero, we are doomed to inhabit two different worlds” no you jackass, it’s called having more than one hobby?? figuring out how to spend some time with your son that doesn’t involve training?? the same exact thing you were telling him to do last week, while ignoring that you’ve never done that yourself in your life??
that said, yet again we have that complexity though because it’s obvious that Enji at least on some level is aware of his own flaws, even though he seems unwilling or unable to confront them. honestly, from what we’ve seen so far, Enji’s obsession with surpassing All Might might be more accurately called an addiction. he literally can’t let go of it even though he’s fully aware of how it’s slowly destroying his life. and so in the same way that a lifelong smoker or alcoholic might tell their child to stay away from cigarettes and booze, Enji tells Touya not to follow down the same path as him, even though he himself doesn’t know how to leave that path. so yes, it’s hypocritical as fuck, but there’s also an element of helplessness there as well because Enji literally doesn’t know how not to be like this
though all the same he sure could stand to put in more than just a token effort. but it is what it is, and we already know how much he’ll come to regret it
and meanwhile Baby Shouto has frozen his sleep bubble with his quirk lmao. so I guess his quirk did come in early. that’s a recipe for chaos right there
once again Shouto is ruining every single dramatic panel in this flashback
Tumblr media
this was so dark and intense... and then I spotted the lil bubs in the corner. Horikoshi please control yourself
“some hero you are, running away” and then all of a sudden, “FIVE YEARS LATER” lol what. OKAY THEN
Tumblr media
(ETA: love the confirmation that eight-year-old Natsu comes from the Iida school of puberty and is basically a fully grown man, and meanwhile Touya comes from the hobbit school of puberty and has been perpetually eight for the past five years.)
“HEY BIG BRO WANNA COME RECREATE AN ICONIC FLASHBACK SCENE WITH US. WE’VE GOT THE SOCCER BALL RIGHT HERE, BUT HURRY UP OR WE’LL BE TOO LATE FOR SHOUTO TO WALK ON BY AND STOP TO LOOK”
lol and that’s literally the next three panels. but Horikoshi did add this extra bit after Endeavor starts to drag Shouto away
Tumblr media
seriously Enji what the hell did you expect was going to happen here. “Touya went nuts and tried to kill his little brother out of jealousy, so let’s make it clearer than ever that Shouto is the important child and all the other children are just rejects. this will definitely not make the problem 100x worse, and will surely lead to Touya giving up and living a happy life, having been emotionally abandoned by the person he admired more than anyone.” good for you pal you figured it all out. no need for that plan b, “we all just go to therapy”
anyway so he’s telling Shouto he can’t play because he needs more endurance training. and meanwhile Touya’s patented Todoroki Drama Genes are going through puberty as well
Tumblr media
definitely the face of a happy, emotionally stable child who’s not still plotting to murder his younger brother in his sleep
“WELL ACTUALLY MAKESTE” lol I stand corrected??
Tumblr media
apparently during the five year interim Touya actually stopped blaming Shouto and realized Enji was the one at fault. good for him! a bit inconsistent, given what we know happens later, but I assume we’ll get to that in good time
anyway. “yeah man I agree that dad sucks, but it’s the middle of the night and I’m only eight and you’ve been monologuing for the past two hours bro”
LMAO
Tumblr media
the manga is making my jokes for me, only better. fine then
looks like someone’s still miffed about that disagreement he had with his baby sister back when she was like four
Tumblr media
“Fuyu doesn’t get properly riled up like I want her to so ranting to her is annoying.” okay but having been in Fuyu’s shoes, it really is just a different way of coping, and I can guarantee she’s not as fine with the whole situation as Touya might think. but making your peace with something is often a decision that’s made for emotional self-preservation reasons. and I sure as hell don’t fault her for trying to shut out a situation that she had no control over, and trying to make the best of it, and scrape together as normal a childhood as she could manage
and now in Touya’s defense as well, that is of course easier said than done, and I’m sure if there was a “push this button and instantly get over all of the trauma in your life” switch readily available for Touya then he would have pushed it too. unfortunately it’s not always that simple
so now Rei is pleading with Touya not to go train up on his little emo hill again, but it doesn’t seem like much has changed since he was eight
Tumblr media
I don’t think he gives two figs about being a hero; he just wants his father to look at him again with pride. fucking hell, stop doing this to me you damn Todorokis
guh, they keep telling him the same thing over and over again
Tumblr media
even if we hadn’t already known he was gonna go melt his jawbone off soon, I wouldn’t have expected a line like that to go over well
yep. fuck
Tumblr media
that Todoroki puberty angst, though. nothing else quite like it
“you have a part in this too, Mom” ooooooh man
okay but look, he’s not entirely wrong. like, I’m not saying any of this is Rei’s fault at all! she’s in an impossible situation where she’s afraid to stand up to Enji (who by this point has shown that he’s willing to physically attack her if things get too heated, which is terrifying), and doesn’t really have anywhere to turn for support. her parents aren’t helping much if at all, and Japan in general is just a terrible country to be in when you’re in a domestic abuse situation. everyone’s expected to put on a brave face and deal with their problems all on their own in private. Rei is basically completely isolated at this point, and she doesn’t know what else to do, and so she’s just trying to keep the situation as stable as possible for the kids
but on the other hand, “for the kids” is also where that argument starts to break down a bit, because at this point Shouto is also being physically abused by his father, and the other kids are continuing to be neglected (emotionally if not physically), as they have been for years. so the situation really isn’t stable at all for them. and as a kid, what you end up learning in that type of situation is that you can’t rely on either parent. not the abusive one, certainly, but also not the other one who can’t protect you from any of it. even if they love you and they’re trying, they’re just as helpless as you. Rei is struggling to deal with all of this with one hand tied behind her back, and I get it, and I’m not blaming her at all. but all the same, particularly given that she’s (understandably) putting almost all her focus on Shouto, the end result is that the other kids have basically been left to fend for themselves
so yeah! a shitty situation all around. and one of those cases where it’s not really anyone’s fault (aside from Enji’s), but I can understand the resentment Touya is feeling all the same. and I’m so glad Horikoshi is acknowledging this, because it’s something I probably would have been too uncomfortable to bring up otherwise. as it is it’s still an incredibly heavy subject, and one that I probably have too many personal feelings about
anyway, so once again the whole “we’ll try talking to him and then just shrug our shoulders when it doesn’t work” parenting strategy doesn’t really pan out for the Todoroki fam
Tumblr media
sob this boy is Anakin Skywalkering before our very eyes. all that’s missing is AFO to come and start whispering in his ear. any minute now...
“anyway so then he got taller and his fire changed from red to blue”
Tumblr media
guess we’re getting pretty close then huh. this is the part of the flashback that I really don’t want to see, but also unfortunately the part that I’m most curious about :/
oh for fuck’s --
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN IGNORING HIM FOR FIVE YEARS DIDN’T ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM” sob. back to the drawing board I guess
I thought he got taller, why is he still only like a third of Enji’s height here
Tumblr media
oh fuck me these are armor-piercing feels. this is the heavy artillery right here
Tumblr media
ENJI I’M BEGGING YOU PLEASE STOP AND THINK FOR ONE MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE BEFORE DOING SOMETHING YOU’LL REGRET FOR THE REST OF ALL TIME. your child just told you that he still thinks beating All Might is the only thing you care about, and that he believes his existence is a mistake unless he finds some way of doing that for you. please stop for a moment to contemplate that and choose your next words with care and grace and oh who the hell am I kidding
-- OR WE COULD JUST BLAME REI
Tumblr media
go on and blame everyone but yourself then!! that’s a great solution!! jesus christ man I know this is Endeavor at his literal worst but still this is fucking hard to watch
POOR BABY SHOUTO IS YELLING AT HIS DAD NOT TO HIT HIS MOMMY THIS LITTLE BRAVE BOY NEEDS SO MANY HUGS OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
AND MEANWHILE THE OTHERS ARE HUDDLED IN THE NEXT ROOM TRYING NOT TO CRY AH FUCK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ETA: Fuyu covering Natsu’s ears cuts RIGHT TO THE CORE OF ME. Horikoshi if you’re really not gonna get these kids some therapy then at least consider giving your readers some. what is this.)
you know it’s bad when you’re starting to think the part where the kid burns to death might actually be a less traumatic thing to cut to right now
holy shit, actual Rei thoughts
Tumblr media
“I was the one who ultimately made that choice” well there we go, wonder if that’ll put that whole argument to bed at last. I doubt it, but you never know. actually who am I kidding it’s not gonna settle jack shit lol
oh thank god, they decided it was getting too intense and cut away back to the present to narrate this next (final?) part
Tumblr media
get ready to cue up that Alicia Keys. THIS BOY IS ON FIREEEEEEE
Tumblr media
yeah I think that’s one thing we can mostly all agree on. neither of them had any clue what the fuck they were doing pretty much at any point. though I will say that the hypocrisy of him being all “WHY DIDN’T YOU STOP HIM” followed by him IMMEDIATELY DOING THE EXACT SAME THING is a bit rich
(ETA: and he still has this problem, doesn’t he? he froze up when Ending snatched Natsuo, and again when Dabi was attacking Shouto. he’s so afraid of doing the wrong thing that he ends up not doing anything, which of course is exactly what led to Touya’s death. damn Enji I guess you’ve still got some additional character development to unlock.)
and of course neither of them could possibly have known how badly it was going to turn out. like, the consequences here were WAY disproportionate even for the shittiest of parenting. no one expects “I didn’t know how to talk to my son” to snowball into “my son burned to death and then somehow came back as a villain and murdered thirty people”
ohhhhhhhh fuck me
Tumblr media
LITERALLY INCINERATED THE ENTIRE HILLSIDE. fuck. and I am so not ready for the scene of Enji finding the remains of his jawbone afterwards. at least we were spared anything super-graphic (for now at least)
I feel like the timeline here is off, btw?? wasn’t Touya’s death supposed to happen after Rei got hospitalized? this might be the first actual retcon of the entire flashback. although I think it makes more sense this way tbh
Tumblr media
I do appreciate that ten years later Enji is finally reflecting on the fact that if he’d just given up his stupid obsession he could have stopped his family from crumbling apart. that probably sounds sarcastic as fuck, but it’s not. there are countless jerks out there who would have still managed to find a way to blame literally everyone and everything under the sun except for themselves. at least he finally figured out how to take responsibility, even if it came too late to stop his son from dying and being radicalized into a villain terrorist organization
and speaking of, it seems to me we’re missing a third and final part to this little tale of woe, and one which only Touya himself will be able to shed any light on. so we’ll see how that goes
oh man seeing the other kids blaming themselves even though none of it was their fault hits hard af. Rei wasn’t kidding when she said they’d been bearing that burden of guilt far longer than Enji
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SHOUTO I SWEAR TO GOD IF THE NEXT PANEL IS YOU APOLOGIZING FOR BEING BORN, I WILL... WELL I’LL BE VERY SAD, I GUESS. SO DON’T DO IT
oh good he’s just being quiet. good. it absolutely is not your fault lil bean. it’s not theirs either, but feeling guilty about things that aren’t your fault is a time-honored shounen tradition
Tumblr media
goddammit I braced myself for the angsty Shouto panel a page too early. gotta do it all over again now lol. okay here goes
;_;
Tumblr media
well well well would you look at that
Tumblr media
imagine that. talking things out with your child before they make a rash decision. looks like the Todorokis’ parenting skills are finally leveling up
OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
holy shit. this is the most quintessential moment of father/son Todoroki bonding in the entire series. for me it even tops the “nice scar” scene lol. Enji sobbing at the fact that he still has a chance to set things right. and Shouto offering his hand in what is actually the most mature and selfless gesture I’ve ever seen, and being all “we’ll stop him together” to his dad who he hates, but also doesn’t really entirely hate anymore. and all of that is incredibly moving... BUT ALSO HE STILL REFUSES TO MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH HIM AND HE WOULD LIKE HIM TO STOP BEING SO FUCKING DRAMATIC ALREADY IF YOU DON’T MIND. “WHEN YOU’RE DONE CRYING...” fkjldsk
OH MY FUCKING LORD
Tumblr media
(ETA: wouldn’t be a Todoroki drama fest if there wasn’t somebody listening in on the whole thing in secret just around the corner lmao.)
“you think we should have waited somewhere else?” “yeah, probably.” “are you feeling a lot of secondhand embarrassment too?” “god, you have no idea.” STFU HAWKS IT’S NOT EMBARASSING TO BE MOVED TO TEARS BY YOUR FAMILY ALL COMING TOGETHER IN YOUR DARKEST HOUR TO GIVE YOU HOPE THAT YOU PROBABLY DON’T DESERVE BUT ARE NONETHELESS INDESCRIBABLY GRATEFUL FOR
and anyway you chose these guys as your found family, bucko. too late to back out now. next time go get yourself adopted by the Iidas then
AND MEANWHILE NO WORD ON THE WHOLE “HOW DID A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD SURVIVE A FIRE THAT COVERED HIS BODY WITH HORRIFIC SCARS AND MELTED HIS JAW OFF, AND HOW DID HE SOMEHOW THEN MANAGE TO GO INTO HIDING FOR TEN WHOLE YEARS, AND WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT INTERIM TO CHANGE HIS GOAL FROM ‘SURPASS ALL MIGHT TO IMPRESS MY DAD’ TO ‘KILL ALL HEROES TO MAKE MY DAD SUFFER’.” as if we don’t know the answer to that. but still, would it kill Horikoshi to just confirm AFO’s involvement in all of this already. at this point it’s basically just a formality
so here’s hoping next week we’ll either get that, or more Hawks action, or (DARE I EVEN SUGGEST, I’M AFRAID TO JINX IT) finally cut back to Bakugou and Deku and All Might omg. either way I’m hyped

OOOH MY GOOOOSH, IT'S HAPPENING!!! I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS (sorry in advance for this 😅)
4, 5, 7, 11, 15, 20 for your OC Amethyst, 2, 9, 13, 31, 39 for your OC Scarlet, 2, 3, 7, 15, 17, 35, 40 for your OC Robin, and last but not least 43 for all three!
Also A, E, F, H for you to answer about all three of your OCs!! If it's too much to answer, it's okay to only answer your favorites. I'm just so excited to learn about them waaahh!!! 🤩
Yep, it's finally happening! Thanks for the questions, by the way. I'm glad to answer a lot :D
Gonna put the answers under the cut!
Amethyst:
4. How easy is it to earn their trust? It's pretty easy to earn Amethyst's trust. He's quite friendly and optimistic about meeting new people, especially if they're polite.
5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust? If he found out someone had wronged one of his friends in the past, if they end up hurting him, or if they just give off an over-all bad vibe, he would be much less trusting of that person.
7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling? I actually covered this in the ask blog! Amethyst keeps a photo album which contains a lot of happy memories (as well as a few he would much rather forget). Most of the time he feels fondly of his past, the accomplishments he's made, and the friends he's made along the way. Though some of the memories are more bitter-sweet than others.
11. How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)? Amethyst is definitely one for asking questions. He doesn't pry for answers though. He prefers to respect others' boundaries.
15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first? It depends on the topic! When talking about his business, he tends to come up with answers on the spot, but when talking about more personal matters, he usually thinks over what he says and what details he will and won't bring up.
20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so? I'm actually not sure. I never really thought of Amethyst as being one to experience romantic attraction. Platonic love would be much more common for him, though! He would probably describe it as the feeling of someone else being part of your family, even if they're unrelated, but in a sibling-like way.
Scarlet:
2. How easy is it for your character to laugh? It's pretty easy to get Scarlet to laugh. Telling a silly story, coming up with quips, or even well-constructed long jokes would all end up with at least a chuckle!
9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word? Scarlet swears, but (tries to) limits herself when talking to customers. She may let her filter slip sometimes though. She probably wouldn't remember the first time she swore.
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color? She definitely thinks she looks best in black, but she'd find a pure-black article of clothing way too boring, so she would definitely add some color! I feel like any dark shades of warm colors (red, orange, red-violet) would look really nice on her, as well as black!
31. Who are they the most glad to have met? Scarlet was really glad to have met Cocoa. While most of her other friends are also fun to be around, they're on the low-energy side most of the time. Cocoa is one of the few people who are able to match her energetic personality. She also tends to hang out with them after work much more frequently than the others.
39. How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people? It really depends on the flaw! If it's not a flaw that would hurt the person or others, she would easily be able to ignore it. However, she would definitely get one someone's case if they ended up getting someone else hurt, and would be concerned if it ended up hurting the person themself.
Robin:
2. How easy is it for your character to laugh? To get a loud laugh out of them would be pretty difficult, but not impossible! They're probably the quietest of the bunch, so they tend to giggle more often than laugh.
3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?) They would definitely check on their plants one last time and make themself a cup of tea before heading to bed.
7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling? They, similarly to Amethyst, like to revisit memories by looking at pictures. Although, they probably keep their photos either hung up on a wall or stored away neatly in a box. Taking walks to significant places would also give them some sense of nostalgia. They do enjoy it quite a lot!
15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first? Robin thinks about what they say before they say it about 99% of the time. If they get a bit excited about a subject, they may have more immediate responses.
17. Are they easily embarrassed? I wouldn't say so. They may end up being more "disappointed" in themself instead of embarrassed, but it doesn't happen often.
35. How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?  Robin would be all-ears if one of their friends wanted to chat about something they're excited about. If it's a subject, they would ask questions about it, and if it's a plan, they would try to help out as much as they could!
40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws? They're not sensitive about their flaws, but if someone were to point any out they would most likely end the conversation as quickly as possible, avoiding the subject, or apologize if it caused someone else any inconvenience.
Asks for me:
A. Why are you excited about this character? For all three of them collectively? They all share a different interest of mine, so they're kind of an outlet for me to express my love for gems, art, and plants, lol. For Amethyst, I really want to tell his story. Both his backstory, and what will happen in the future! Scarlet, I like to write for. I rarely have characters that have a similar personality to her. For Robin, I also like to write for them. I also really like their general calm vibe. I do have some plans for both Scarlet and Robin that I'll get to later, but for now my main plot focus is on Amethyst (which I really need to get to sometime.) I also need to draw a full-body of Cocoa and work on designs for 4 other Addison OCs from that story, so I hope to get cracking on those soon!
E. Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you? I feel like I would get along well with Amethyst and Robin, but Scarlet? Not so much. I don't dislike her personality, I just feel like we would be too different for me to feel comfortable around.
F. What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)? I feel happy about how all three of them turned out! Although I'm not as excited as I used to be when I first started creating them, I still have the desire to write for them when the time comes. I will say though, writing for Amethyst can be a little "frustrating" because he's very similar to me personality wise. I usually have to read and reread his dialogue to make sure it would be something he would say and not me.
H. What trait do you admire most? For Amethyst, his knowledge and skill when it comes to his craft (jewelry making, gemology, etc.). For Scarlet, her lack of anxiety when it comes to talking to complete strangers. And for Robin, their ability to manage taking care of so many plants (I can only actively take care of like, 3 at a time, and I still end up forgetting about them even if I see them everyday).
If you ever have an specific questions about these characters, or any other ones I may have now or in the future, feel free to ask them and I'll respond to the best of my ability! I love talking about these guys, even if I haven't touched them in a while.

2021 Writing Recap
Tumblr media
I was initially planning on listing all the works I posted in 2021, but then I counted and realized I posted 39 stories! That's way too many. Then I had the idea of narrowing it down to a top ten but couldn't quite do that either, so
here are my top eleven personal favorite stories I wrote in 2021.
1. The Haunting of Lockwood Estates
Co-written crossover between Supernatural and Nancy Drew. It's a 70k word case fic taking place in season 3 of Supernatural. I love how this turned out and feel as if this is the best thing I've had a part in writing.
2. mercury
Post-canon Supernatual fix-it fic with POVs from every member of TFW 2.0. Sam manages to help everyone find happiness, Jack and Dean repair their relationship, and Castiel gets the ending he deserves. 11k words. 7 chapters.
3. always
18k word Destiel fic full of pining, Cas whump, and a happy ending.
4. i want u
My most popular story on ao3. It's another post-canon fix-it fic, but this one solely centers around Destiel. 2.7k words.
5. sobriety
A 2.5k word Endverse Destiel fic in endverse!Cas' POV. Pining with a happy ending.
6. substance abuse
12.9k word Destiel fic. Dean is using alcohol as a coping mechanism to deal with the aftermath of a huge fight with Sam. It also doesn't help that his feelings towards Cas are only growing. Pining and angst with a happy ending.
7. Jody Knows
1k word Destiel one-shot about Jody immediately picking up on the chemistry between Dean and Cas and saying something about it.
8. true love
Another Destiel one-shot (1.5k words), but this time a love potion is involved.
9. touchstarved
A 3.6k word Destiel one-shot about Cas kissing Dean when he's drunk, forcing Dean and Cas to confront their feelings for each other.
10. Don't Be Stupid, Friend
1k word one-shot about Cas and Balthazar's friendship in season 4.
11. summer night
300 word drabble about TFW having dinner together.

Obsidian lore thread!
Sharing this thread of lore, episode connections, and Easter eggs from Adventure Time: Distant Lands: Obsidian, originally written for my Twitter.
Tumblr media
SPOILERS AHEAD, WATCH OBSIDIAN ON HBO MAX IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY
Keep reading for the full thread!
1) We've seen bombs scattered around the Land of Ooo before, but this is the first time we've seen the word "fission", confirming that they are nukes. Although we have seen the radiation roundel plenty of times so it's pretty obvious.
Tumblr media
2) The "magic lightning" that created the Glass Kingdom could itself have been one of the nukes. Alternatively, it could have been the catalyst comet, although Finn has no connection to this place so that's probably not the case.
Tumblr media
3) The subtitles for the first four minutes video suggested that Glassboy was saying "crap" here. However, the HBO Max subtitles confirm he is actually saying "crack".
Tumblr media
4) All of Marceline's classic furniture is present, but Bubblegum's influence is very visible; a doily on the couch, a flask underneath, new barstools from the Candy Kingdom, and the pink lamp in the bedroom, just to name a few examples.
Tumblr media
5) Lady Rainicorn slippers. That is all.
Tumblr media
6) Chocoberry on the cover of a magazine. Looks like she's been dipped in white chocolate for this shoot.
Tumblr media
7) This is the first time we've seen Choose Goose since he appeared as "Achoos Goose" in the Elements miniseries. Last time we saw his normal form was all the way back in season five's "Blade of Grass", nearly seven years ago. Is it weird that Choose Goose was the first thing in the episode to make me cry?
Tumblr media
8) It appears that Princess Bubblegum has not rebuilt the Gumball Guardians since they were destroyed in the battle against GOLB.
Tumblr media
9) There are lots of familiar candy people in and around the tavern, from a variety of seasons, including Kenneth, Dirt Beer Guy, Cherry Cream Soda, a Banana Guard 500, Lollipop Girl, and Smudge.
Tumblr media
10) Simon is of course singing "Remember You". He is also using the omnichord that was used in that episode. Interestingly, this suggests he might remember some of his experiences as the Ice King.
Tumblr media
11) This isn't the first time Dirt Beer Guy's tavern has hosted an open mic night. He also held one in "Son of Rap Bear", and even used the same banner, although it's looking a little tattered and worn out now.
Tumblr media
12) Simon doesn't look any older than he did in the finale. This might mean that Betty's wish made him immortal, or it simply might not have been long enough for him to visibly age.
Tumblr media
13) This is the oversized shirt given to Marceline by her father in the episode "Marcy & Hunson". It's looking a little faded these days.
Tumblr media
14) Bubblegum's outfit is of a similar style to the one in "The Vault", but it's not the same. The fact she's not wearing her amulet might suggest this flashback takes place after "The Vault", but nothing is known for certain.
Tumblr media
15) There are gravestones outside Marceline's house, but these actually aren’t new. They previously appeared in “Go With Me”. So don’t worry, these don’t belong to Jake or anything like that.
Tumblr media
16) Simon's coping mechanism would be funny if it wasn't so sad. It's going to be a long time before he fully recovers. On a lighter note, the magnets on the fridge say "M PB" which is pretty cute.
Tumblr media
17) This is our first time seeing the outside of Elise's van. We previously saw the interior in "Everything Stays". Also, we learned from the credits and subtitles that her name is Elise!
Tumblr media
18) Previously, it wasn't known whether or not Elise survived the Mushroom War. Turns out she did... but not for long. It's also now unclear whether the flashback from "Everything Stays" happened before or after the war.
Tumblr media
19) A nice little timeline detail: Marceline travelling with her mother for a while explains the awkward two year gap between the Mushroom War and the events of "Simon & Marcy".
Tumblr media
20) Here's a comparison of the parts of Marceline's song that got corrupted into the current version. The Glass People got really obsessed with the idea of the song being about coconuts for some reason.
Tumblr media
21) PB yelling "Scree!" to summon the Morrow is a callback all the way to the season two episode "Death in Bloom", which is when the Morrow made their debut.
Tumblr media
22) Disease is added to the long list of things that helped wipe out humanity. I wonder if this disease is related to the one that Hugo and his crew gave to the grays in the BMO special. I also wonder if Marceline is immune thanks to her demon half.
Tumblr media
23) The mutant puppy was able to say the word "wassup". Perhaps this is a halfway stage to the talking animals that now populate the Land of Ooo.
Tumblr media
24) Turns out Marceline discovered her demon powers before she defeated the Fool. This is the first appearance of these kinds of soulless husks since "It Came From the Nightosphere" in season two.
Tumblr media
25) This is the first new candy power we've seen Princess Bubblegum use since she learned how to create mints and soda in "Jelly Beans Have Power".
Tumblr media
26) Marceline not caring about the glass people is very in line with her personality in the early seasons, such as when she was happy to let her father suck souls as long as she got her bass back.
Tumblr media
27) No Easter egg here, just an extremely good image.
Tumblr media
28) Here's the screenshot leaked by Adam Muto last month. Like the gas station in "Bonnibel Bubblegum", the graffiti here tells an interesting story. Seems like the Land of Ooo had a bit of a Mad Max phase while the humans were still around.
Tumblr media
29) This is (as far as I know) only the second time an Adventure Time character has ever been shown bleeding. The first was the heart monster in "The Enchiridion", but that was a lot less realistic.
Tumblr media
30) The fact that humans survived long enough to construct a whole Fallout-style bunker confirms that the near-extinction of humanity wasn't a quick process. It makes you wonder whether any other groups made it, besides the Islanders.
Tumblr media
31) Apart from this being one of the darkest scenes in the entire show, I like the background detail of bank notes being used as toilet paper.
Tumblr media
32) Marceline grew up blaming herself for her mother leaving, and says she is like her dad. It sounds like Elise has told Marceline a bit about Hunson Abadeer, and is scared and angry at him.
Tumblr media
33) This actually isn't the first time Marceline's bass has been broken. She also snapped the handle during her fight with the Vampire King. However, it's never been completely shattered like this.
Tumblr media
34) This might be a reference to the Hall of Egress. That's the only other time we've heard Bubblegum use that word.
Tumblr media
35) Confirmation that Princess Bubblegum doesn't have bones. I guess that counts as lore?
Tumblr media
36) The gag of the Banana Guards slipping over each other was also done in "The Thin Yellow Line" and probably some other episodes I'm forgetting.
Tumblr media
37) Jake’s granddaughter Bronwyn is certainly an unexpected appearance. I wonder what affiliation she has with the main cast now?
Tumblr media
38) And of course... FINN! I would estimate he's aged about five to ten years since the finale, but it's hard to tell with Adventure Time's style. He looks younger than he did in Puhoy's alternate future.
Tumblr media
39) Lots of people have been theorising that the tattoo implies that something unfortunate has happened to Jake. Perhaps we'll get to know more about that in Together Again. Let's not dwell on it for now.
Tumblr media
40) A canon origin story for the shirt, plus a Bubbline first meeting! This overrides the P.B. & Marcy comic, and re-contextualises a whole bunch of the old Bubbline episodes!
Tumblr media
That’s all for now! Let me know if you can think of anything I missed!

heyyy can you talk about kons dating history or atleast with older women? ive seen a few posts but im not sure but thats so ://///
Ahhh yes. Kon’s dating history, I've finally now finished reading all his solo comics (and had already gone through his team books a while back) so it’s a perfect time to delve into this. I’m kinda broadening it to his love interests in general, as not all of them put an official ‘dating’ label on things, but are still worth bringing up. This is kinda long so sorry in advance about that, but I tried to be as brief as possible.
TW for pedophilia (in these specific cases discussing a 23 year old dating a 16 year old, and another woman without a specifically given age [but clearly an adult] with the same 16 year old) obviously i’m not talking about it positively here but it’s unfortunately necessary to discuss with this topic.
I consider Kon as having five primary love interests in the pre-reboot comics world, which is where most of his dating happened. The ‘criteria’ I guess i’m using to separate them from the others i’ll talk about after is a combination of ‘they interacted for a long time’ and/or ‘the relationship had a big impact on his story/him as a person’.
I’m also mainly sticking in pre-New 52 world for this because aside from the 'fake married to Lophi to protect her and her kid on Gemworld' thing in Young Justice 2019, he hasn't done much with relationships since getting officially reintroduced. Then the New 52 version of Kon was a very separate person and even so he was mainly just (sorta) involved with Cassie.
ANYWAYS the main five are:
Tana Moon - Tana was a 23 year old (as stated in Superboy #32) reporter Kon initially met during Reign of the Supermen, the story he debuted in (meaning she was one of the first people he met), who also happened to move back to Hawaii around the time he ended up there on his press tour. The two of them had an on and off relationship from basically the start of the comic until she broke up with him in Superboy #46. She briefly came back into his life in Superboy #72 after having been kidnapped by The Agenda, before being killed by Amanda Spence in Superboy #74. Kon and several others refer to her as his ‘first love’ especially after her death, which weighed very heavily on him.
Knockout/Kay - A woman we find out was originally one of the Female Furies, who works as a stripper at the 'Boom Boom Room’ in Hawaii while trying to keep a low-profile after leaving Apokolips. We don't get an exact age for her but she's very much so implied to be an adult. She hits on Kon from the moment she meets him (she also quite literally uses the term ‘jailbait’ to describe him in her first appearance in Superboy #1) and kisses him several times, insisting on working with him and training him and eventually beginning a more formal relationship with him. She kills someone and he blindly defends her thinking she couldn’t have done it, and she tries to coerce him into killing someone by promising herself to him (before killing the guy herself when Kon wouldn’t do it). The arc mainly focused on their relationship is from Superboy #22-30, but she is a presence in the comic from the start. She is arrested for the murders she committed at the end of the arc, and doesn't interact with Kon much again after as she is in a high security prison, but she is referenced multiple times.
Roxy Leech - Roxy is the daughter of Rex Leech, Kon's agent. From the moment she meets Kon, also during Reign of the Supermen like Tana, she's got a thing for him. Her age is left a bit more unclear, as some bits of dialogue indicate she is actually close to Kon's age but other things like how she applies to the police academy, something you need to be like 20 to do, indicate she's a bit older. Regardless, she’s definitely younger than Tana as she comments on her age at least once. She actively dislikes both Tana and Knockout for being interested in Kon, and confesses her feelings to him during a 'the whole world might end tonight' situation (in Superboy #33). The two of them didn't really date, but there is a period of time where Kon feels torn between Tana and Roxy. Not too long after that she ends up volunteering herself to be used in a procedure to stabilize Kon's dna after it had been torn apart by The Agenda when they cloned him, as the method to save him required someone close in age to him be used as a genetic template. From that point on they considered each other more like siblings, ending the romantic aspect of their relationship (in Superboy #41)
Serling Roquette - Serling is a 16 year old (as first stated in Superboy #57) science prodigy who works in the genetics department of Cadmus, and is the person who manages to cure Kon's condition where he'd been stuck at age 16 (a side effect from the procedure with Roxy). Initially she had a crush on Guardian, but over time grew to like Kon, she was one of the first people at Cadmus he personally tells his name ‘Kon-El’ to. They only kinda start to get together before Tana comes back and then is killed. After a situation where Roxy came back and needed help, when he and Serling try to maybe pick things up again, Kon realizes Tana’s death is still too fresh for him to get involved in anything too serious with her and he breaks it off, leaving them very tense with one another. (Superboy #82)
Wonder Girl/Cassie Sandsmark - Cassie had an interest in Kon before she even met him, more of a celebrity crush at first than anything else. They share their first kiss in Wonder Woman #153 after she had tried to change her look to impress him and he reassured her that she was already beautiful the way she is. Cassie was present for Tana's death in Superboy #74, and after that Kon is overly protective of her in a noticeable way that actively annoyed her (She points out to him that she can take care of herself a few times, like in Young Justice #29) but eventually at the end of Young Justice (in #55) he confesses feelings for her, and they share another kiss. Graduation Day bringing about the end of Young Justice as a team kinda throws a wrench in things, but early in Teen Titans Vol. 3 they begin to date more formally, and are getting pretty serious together (cough cough they uhh consummate their relationship in the Kent farm's barn in TT Annual #1) right before Kon is killed during Infinite Crisis. She takes his death very badly and joins a cult to try to bring him back, has her whole thing with Tim (who is coping equally poorly with the death... almost 100 cloning attempts babey), and befriends Kara as a surrogate Teen Kryptonian™, but eventually learns to accept what happened and move on. Then he comes back, and everything's a lot to process all over again. She had become the team leader and things were just different than they used to be. They tried to resume their relationship but eventually Kon decided to end it (Teen Titans Vol. 3 #91), because they both wanted different things at that point in their lives, but they remained friends and teammates.
So when people are talking about the ‘older women’ thing, it should be pretty clear from that list they’re talking about Tana and Knockout. Both were adult women dating a 16 year old boy, and neither situation did enough to handle it in a way that addressed it as the problem it was. Knockout’s situation did end up being seen as a bad thing by the end because of the murder parts at the very least, but the age difference didn’t come up nearly as much. With Tana a few people (Roxy, some of Tana’s coworkers, even Tana herself) did bring up the age difference as a potential problem, but they continued to stay together for a pretty long time regardless. The kicker is that she ultimately breaks up with him for being ‘immature’ after he gets stuck at age 16, when it’s like... he’s 16. You’re 23. No kidding you think he’s immature? It was just a whole mess and makes reading a lot of his solo incredibly uncomfortable.
Additionally he has a few other shorter-lived relationships/potential love interests. I’m categorizing them separately because they weren’t focused on in the same ways/for as much time as the girls I listed above:
Trixie (Superboy #94-100) - When Kon gets his own apartment in Suicide Slum, he repeatedly runs into Trixie and the rest of the Slaughterhouse Six, but Superboy inspires her to try to turn her life around. They didn’t formally date but that was definitely the direction things were starting to head towards before his apartment building blew up and he realized he needed to get away from the city where his presence was painting a target on innocent people, and so they decided to just be friends. (This was also when his solo ended, so possibly if the book hadn’t been ending they may have continued longer)
Batgirl/Cassandra Cain (Superboy #85, Batgirl #39-41) - They first met when Kon had been bugging Tim in Gotham, and had a little adventure together that resulted in Batman being PISSED because he didn’t want Cass interacting with Metas (especially not teenage boy ones that’ll flirt with her) and Kon volunteered to share her punishment so she didn’t have to do it alone. They later meet again shortly after Kon moved in with the Kents while on a cruise (and he’s her first kiss!) and afterwards she goes to Smallville to meet him. She’s actually like the first person outside the Kents we’re shown to know his new civilian name is ‘Conner Kent’. After their little attempt at a date they decide to just stay friends.
Lori Luthor (Various appearances with Kon in Adventure Comics (2009) & Superboy Vol. 5) - When Kon and Lori initially meet there’s definitely some interest and she kisses him, but it happens while he’s still dating Cassie so he makes it clear he’s unavailable. Afterwards he learns who she actually is and realizes ‘oh she’s sorta kinda my cousin on the Luthor side’ so he stops really being interested. She’s still interested because she feels like the cloning doesn’t make them really related, and they talk about it in Superboy Vol. 5 #4 after he and Cassie had broken up, but he still feels too raw from Cassie and too weirded out by the situation to have it go anywhere. Kon helps try to get Lex to cure Lori’s mom (Lex’s sister Lena), and eventually when Lex is an ass in the end he finds another way (Some Wayne money through Tim) to try to help her. Lori figures out Conner is Superboy and along with Simon and Sujan helps him to save Smallville from the Hollow Men.
Ravager/Rose Wilson (Teen Titans Vol. 3 #95-100, kinda some parts of Superboy Vol. 6 if ya squint) - This is another of those ‘they didn’t actually date but there was interest’ situations, in the very end of Teen Titans Vol. 3. A fake version of Rose had kissed Kon which was kinda the catalyst for it, where after that moment he became a bit more protective of her once the real her returned. They had a moment where Kon tried to trust her with something (Kryptonite to take him down if the situation arose) but she saw it more as him thinking she was the one ruthless enough to do it, rather than as a token of trust, and left upset. The reboot happened before this really went anywhere/got resolved though, but interestingly enough she became a bit of a support character in the New 52 version of Kon’s life, likely because of this connection they tried to do before the reboot. They never really dated there either, he just referred to her as cute a few times. New 52 Kon is a very separate person anyways, but it’s worth mentioning.
I might be forgetting a few other minor ones along the way (especially if there’s things that weren’t in his main books), and Kon (especially in the 90′s) was the kind of guy to flirt with pretty much every girl he saw, so bear that in mind. But yeah, I hope this helps!

hello!! i saw that you made a lot of stuff for 1872 and i was wondering if 1872 tony is similar to regular comics tony?? i know mcu and comics tony are different and i want to get into 616, but if 1872 comics are more easy to read i might try those first! 😅
Hello, hello!
Thank you for asking, and sorry it took me so long to get back to you! I wanted to think about it and put together a thoughtful response because I am desperately trying to convert MCU fans to 1872. Or comics fans who just haven’t gotten into 1872.
This post will contain some 1872 spoilers, but not the Big Spoiler that you probably already know about anyways.
Anyways, let’s get into it. Yeehaw.
What is 1872? It’s Steve/Tony in the wild west.
1872 comics are very easy to read, very short, and you need absolutely no prior knowledge to get into them; I highly recommend these as a start point for MCU fans who are curious about dipping their toes into some of the other Steve/Tony universes. And 1872 is, indeed, a Steve/Tony universe. It’s really gay, (and dramatic.) Uh. So gay, in fact, that one of the comic artists who drew pages even occasionally shares Steve/Tony shipping memes. So.
Marvel 1872 is a four issue series released as a part of the Secret Wars event; you really do not need to know anything about this to enjoy 1872, because it is a self-contained alternate universe in a “pocket dimension”, meaning it’s totally separate from the 616 cannon but technically exists in the expanse of the multiverse!
Here’s the summary:
In the Battleworld zone of 1872, Sheriff Steve Rogers faces corruption and fear in the boom town of Timely. Can Anthony Stark pull Rogers' fat from the fire? Probably not, since the only thing he seems capable of pulling is a cork from a bottle. Things in Timely are bad, and getting worse — and when a stranger arrives in town, Timely will be changed forever.
Now, to compare “regular comics Tony”, or 616 Tony, with 1872 Tony.
The main difference? 616 Tony wears this sexy little under suit (or nothing) under his armor, like this:
Tumblr media
And 1872 Tony wears dirty, stinky one-piece pajamas under his armor (not sexy):
Tumblr media
He’s so gross, he’s a mess. I love him. You’ll love him, too.
No, okay. Being serious.
616!Tony’s backstory is a lot more complicated just due to how long the character has existed, and the decades of cannon (much of it self-contradictory at points.) Like MCU Tony, 616 Tony used to manufacture weapons, experiences something life-changing, and becomes who he is as a result of this as a catalyst. 616 Tony’s backstory has been rebooted a few times, and I’m definitely not the definitive source on Iron Man lore compared to people who have read all of his comics, but I’ll try to touch on the basics.
Originally, 616 Tony Stark is shaped by his experience in the Vietnam War. This is later rebooted and changed to war in the middle East (we see this in the MCU when Tony is held captive in Afghanistan.) In both circumstances, he is taken captive after being in the air for war technology, and then he creates the suit to save his own life (losing a beloved mentor in the process, the guilt of which stays with him after.)

Tales of Suspense #39
In 1872, Tony’s formative event is the Civil War in some ways, but in other ways, this is only half of it, because this is not the event which causes him to build armor or set him onto his “become a better person” trajectory, like in the other comics. Mainly, the Civil War functions to cause Tony to stop weapons manufacturing and throw his life away down a bottle.
We get a flashback of Tony in the year 1862 with his female companion, picnicking and about to watch a battle, (rich people from the North did this in real life. If you’re interested, read more here!) We don’t get much of his past, but we discover that he is a rifle manufacturer and that he has created something called the ‘Stark Repeating Rifle’, and it seems that he has done so with the hope of encouraging a cease-fire, more than a slaughter.

Well. We don’t always get what we ask for.

Tony vows to actually never touch a weapon ever again, and this personal oath means so much to him that he gets creative at times during 1872 when he’s being chased by baddies:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Witnessing the extreme bloodshed of the Civil War, and feeling responsible for a huge amount of deaths, Tony turns to drinking, (and presumably moves to the west to escape the Pain of his Past, but this is not shown explicitly on panel; I have assumed, though, that Tony’s weapons manufacturing company was in the East, probably Boston or New York, since he comes from family money and because the American West was still “young” at this point in time so it would be unlikely that an established business would be supplying a war from lawless territory with little infrastructure.)
In 616, it’s worth noting that Tony builds the armor to save himself from danger in a war scenario; this is not the case in 1872, things unfold a bit differently. The Civil War certainly sets in motion the chain of events that eventually lead to the creation of Tony’s armor, but he’s not in physical danger or physically traumatized by the war in this verse as he is in other verses, and 616 Tony seems to have a stronger sense of duty than 1872 Tony, but this might be a complication of the depression/apathy related to the alcoholism.
What I mean by this is that both iterations of Tony struggle with alcoholism, but differently. Mainly, while 616 Tony has several alcohol themed arcs, and hits rock bottom with his alcoholism to cope with his trauma, he is sober more than he is drunk in the comics. His drinking almost kills him, and he almost loses everything because of the drink. It’s a source of enormous shame for him.
In fact, during this time in 616, I think Tony at his lowest reminds me a lot of 1872 Tony; 616 Tony is not an apathetic person and he holds himself accountable for an obscene amount of responsibility, but during what is referred to in fandom as The Second Drinking Arc, Tony basically gives up. This is the most “like” 1872 Tony, at least at the start of his arc. Rhodey takes over the mantle of Iron Man, and 616 Tony spirals, not caring whether he lives or dies, not hero-ing certainly.
We see both versions of Tony express similar sentiments, a certain cavalier attitude about their lives (and outright suicidality at other points) with nothing left but the drink.

Iron Man Vol. 1 #182
Compare with:

And you can certainly see a resemblance between this set of panels from IM v.1 #176 and in 1872:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Iron Man Vol. 1 #176 and Marvel 1872 #1
It’s a little different in 1872, where his drinking really is purely a result of his existing despair, and it doesn’t cause enormous problems for him, (minor problems, sure. He spends a lot of time drunkenly singing to Sheriff Rogers, or bothering him from the inside of a jail cell.) But this Tony lives at rock bottom, whereas 616 Tony only stays at rock bottom long enough to get his life back together (as many times as it takes.)
Tumblr media
This Tony really doesn’t show any outward shame about his drinking; presumably, the people he knows in Timely have only ever known Tony as a drunk, and none of the people from his old life are here to see him like this.
This is a Tony who has essentially given up on himself and has moved out West to hide from his shame and his past; this is not a Tony who is scared of letting down his friends by drinking, or scared of shirking his “duty”, because this Tony has moved away from all of his friends and has given himself no duties. He’s a bit more apathetic, but I would argue that this is not because he inherently is a less moral version of Tony, but because in this verse, he was drinking for a very long time and circumstances unfolded differently so it took him a longer time to find that sense of purpose and responsibility (beyond just shutting down manufacturing guns,) which is awakened in him by Steve Rogers.
616 Tony’s sobriety is a major part of his character, and a conscious choice that he makes, even during some lowest points:
Tumblr media
Civil War: The Confession
He takes some amount of pride in his sobriety, and when he does fall off the wagon at times (or magic makes everyone think he did,) it absolutely tears him up because 616 Tony cares very, very much about his sobriety and does not like who he is when he’s drinking. We do not know if 1872 Tony’s father had been a drunk or not, but we know 616 Tony’s father was, and that the drink lead to him treating Tony abusively.
Tumblr media
Iron Man Vol. 1 #285
Tumblr media
Avengers Disassembled #1 (This was when ~magic~ made Tony drunk and it wrecked him breaking sobriety without ever having actually drank. Oof.)
616 Tony’s long struggle with alcoholism is a major part of his character and he has had relapses over the years and throughout the reboots, but in general, he does not drink.
1872 Tony starts drinking in 1862 and doesn’t stop until the last pages of the story, so in terms of the cannon we have for him, he is a current drunk, rather than a former drunk. This isn’t to say he doesn’t stop; but since it’s in the last page or so, it sets the reader up to imagine his sober future, rather than exploring his sobriety as 616 does. (Calling all fanfic writers!)
Anyways, both Tony’s are excellent. Both are damaged and traumatized, both are Iron Man in their own ways, both (eventually) find sobriety, both have some cute, quippy dialogue (though 616 Tony tends to be more reserved/polite for sure, in general).
The last thing I’ll point out, is that both Tonys’ narratives are intertwined with and influenced by their respective Steve Rogers. I’m not saying soulmates but I’m saying soulmates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways. Sorry this post got super long, and I apologize if any of it is confusing or redundant, I am not functioning at my highest capacity currently. Please read 1872. Let it rock your world. Create & consume the fanworks, I would love to see a boom of 1872 content (more than the fics and art I keep making!) And my ask-box is always open!

Finally one of them – unfortunately, the eldest – noticed him and Fingon nodded, “Tyelkormo.”
“Findekáno.” Celegorm returned, his demeanour already causing a headache forming as he stopped his knife throwing and gestured to the platter of food. “You dazzle us with your wondrous presence, cousin. Biscuit?”
“No thank you,” Fingon declined and passed over to him, placing down his satchel as he directed his focus to the dark-haired Fëanorian. “Ah, Carnistir. Someone with more intelligence for such things, I need to discuss some things on Maedhros’ list.”
Whilst Celegorm gawked and made a look of offence, Fingon watched as Caranthir stop his writing and make and peered up at him.
With a groan that almost sounded like a growl, Caranthir rolled his eyes. “Oh, not that list again.” He complained as he eyed the pages that Fingon was now showing out of his satchel. “If I hear that list again I am going to genuinely go burn it and then put it in his tea.”
Alright, Fingon might have to agree with Caranthir about that bit. As much as he loved him, Maedhros and his obsession with organization and routine were perhaps almost over the top. It was something he noticed when growing up with his red-haired ellon, a sort of coping mechanism he had when it came to being the eldest of seven.
Shaking his head, he returned to his agenda as he questioned him as well as Celegorm, “Please tell me we have completed the numbers correctly?”
“Yes, we have, Finde.” It was Celegorm who replied, walking over to pat Fingon’s shoulder. He sighed dramatically and assured him, “Stop worrying.”
Yes because it’s as if he could do so simply when there was a war going on.
Fingon shrewdly gave the two a look before bluntly answering, “Well considering I am also to keep an eye on you two for the sake of Maitimo’s welfare I am trying to help you both.” He paused for a moment, lowering his volume as he asked them with more concern than before, “Have you heard from Atarincë? Your mother?”
“No.” Celegorm’s voice grew harsh, the way his eyebrows furrowed. Afterwards, he glared down at the table, staring down at the list Caranthir was reading through. “We’ve asked Lord Glorfindel but all he’s said is that nothing has corresponded.”
Caranthir sighed and placed the list down as he plainly clarified, “What Tyelko is saying is that we don’t trust Laurefindelë.”
“What? Why?” Fingon turned, darting his eyes between him and Celegorm in confusion – and mostly concern. “I thought you all worked together?"
Or so that’s what he heard and suspected from Maedhros. Before he left for his mission, Maedhros told him what exactly happened in Rivendell. From Elrond Peredhel almost dying to be horrified of the entire valley being burnt to the ground. All but the main house perished, with some forced to rebuild whilst the enemy fled out into the wilderness.
He also said that his brothers had a good relationship with the people of Rivendell, even saving those despite prejudices and offences of the past.
It would seem it was different in the eyes of Celegorm and Caranthir.
A scoff left Celegorm’s lips as he folded his arms and said, “There is a difference between working together and being friends.” He shook his head, changing the subject as he peered back at Fingon and repeated, “Look, we are just telling you to be careful. And as much as I hate listening to my brother; I don’t want his partner to be stabbed in the back.”
Fingon softened his expression, knowing well how rare it was to see Celegorm care even by the slightest notion. Even he struggled sometimes to know if he cared for Aredhel or his brothers at all, knowing from experience that his way of caring was a little more destructive and ruder to others.
“I appreciate your concern. The both of you. But I am alright,” Fingon smiled, nodding at both of them as he then thanked Caranthir for going through the work. After a few minutes, the dark-haired brother passed the rolled-up parchment to him and Fingon said, “I’ll be heading down to Mithlond soon.”
-Excerpt from Fingon's viewpoint
