making a new post since those lose traction very fast. Hai! my birthday is soon (september 13th) and i'd like some help.

as i've talked about my situation before, i'm unemployed and currently ko-fi and commission money is my only source of income. i live with my single mom and three kids. my mom's paycheck is barely enough to keep us all afoot, and so i frequently need to use my own money to help with food, groceries, bills etc.

that all being said, i have ko-fi commissions open!

right now i'm taking a special commission tier where i can draw a character over a simple meme/emote template for only $10!

and if you want something more polished, i have regular icon and fullbody tiers as well!

i'd appreciate any help at all this month, as i've been having a lot of trouble getting anything for a while, and my situation has been getting significantly worse. here's my ko-fi, and thanks a lot o7

For a few years now, I've taken multiple opportunities to ask groups of my fellow Americans the same question: "do you think early 21st century America is a good place to raise a child?" Answers varied from person to person, even among parents of children, from "yeah, pretty good" all the way down to "oh hell no." Rather than give my answer, and go into my reasons (for now) let's look at a report card ranking 35 major countries by several criteria, that just rated only Mexico as worse than the USA as a place to raise a family.

Safety: F. Based on homicide rate, average fear of crime, risk of dying to war or terrorism, school shootings per capita, and protection of civil rights for all. We did okay on most of the sub-ratings, but barely mediocre on civil rights and, well, obviously insanely bad compared to everybody else on school shootings.

Happiness: C+. Based on the human freedom index, world happiness index, per-capita suicide rate, household income inequality, and whether or not some families are discriminated against in adoption rights. I couldn't quickly find the sub-ratings on this one, but the USA came out pretty average.

Cost: F. Based on child care costs, per household family support spending, out-of-pocket educational costs, out-of-pocket health spending, and income-adjusted cost of living. The UK and New Zealand were even worse on child-care costs, but the US came in dead last in every other sub-category. We are the only country that expects those costs to be entirely born by parents who currently have minor children instead of spreading them out across all households.

Health: D-. Based on maternal mortality rate, child mortality rate, access to contraception, air pollution level, and average life expectancy. Because we're not in the bottom 5, I again can't easily find the US ranking on each of those sub-ratings, but I imagine we really got hit on our maternal mortality rate.

Education: C+. Based on teen enrollment rate, early-20s enrollment rate, average reading performance, average math performance, and average science performance. We weren't in the top or bottom 5 so, again, I don't know our detailed rankings but we did end up above average. And finally ...

Time: F. Based on time off per worker, weeks of paid maternity leave, weeks of paid paternity leave, weeks of mandatory paid sick leave, weeks of mandatory paid vacation leave. Only Mexico gave its workers fewer hours off work, and we are the only country in the survey to have a zero in all four other categories.

Across all countries: Only 5 of the 35 countries got an A+ overall. Starting with the highest score: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Luxembourg. Only two countries got an F, the US and Mexico. If you choose to have and raise a family in the United States, you will bear a higher percentage of those expenses than almost any country in the world, your children will be in more physical danger and health danger than anywhere in the industrialized world outside of an active war zone, and you will have less time with them, less time to parent them, than parents anywhere else surveyed.

So, you tell me: in your opinion, is the United States of America in the early 21st century a good place to have and raise children, or not?

Not to beg, but I'd really appreciate more eyes on this, please? Especially from my fellow Americans and doubly-so from people who have kids or who have recently raised kids?

Making a new commission post since we're in desperate need of help currently. We were only able to pay half of what we needed yesterday, so now we owe the normal 55$ rent today plus the 30$ we couldn't pay yesterday. We also couldn't get any food yesterday and we have no food here, so I'm hoping to get something for that as well if we can.

My name is Link and I've been homeless for about two years now (since November 2021). Due to my dad falling into a diabetic coma around that time leaving both him and my sibling homeless without their truck, and myself having to move out from my friend's house due to their grandmother falling severely ill at the time, we were all left without a home. We don't have any family help (tried reaching out as soon as it happened and both sides of the family just weren't willing to help with either shelter/food/financially and otherwise) or anyone else to really rely on. My friend drove us all to a motel where I started up commissions and have been trying my best to keep up what we need for food and rent ever since neither of us could get jobs (we all don't have our IDs/documents, a car or the money to go and actually try getting that stuff) and we also can't get benefits from things like food stamps. We would've been able to at least try from low income housing if we had them, but that's the main thing that's stopped us from getting out of this situation or at least getting closer to finding real stability again. This is and has been our only source of income for a while.

Right now, things haven't been looking great. We almost got kicked out last week, and if the man at the office wasn't kind, we wouldn't have had anywhere to go. Most days we go without food since the room is the utmost priority, and we can barely pay that. Business has been very scarce, so I'm hoping by making a new post that I can get some more help somehow.

Lease runs out in May, I can't work much longer cause I'm disabled need money

I have to move out in a couple months because my disabled mom Said that she cannot financially support me Because she has only savings to live off of and has been rejected by the The government multiple times To be eligible for disability, and I can't move back in with my dad (to give you an idea what hes like, he threatened to kill my mom when I was born)

I currently have savings but I need to quit my job in a few months because here's a little list of the things I am unable to do without *horrible pain*

Washing dishes, using my phone, drawing, Playing an instrument, writing down anything, using a computer to any capacity, Picking up any sort of object no matter how light it is, pushing an empty cart, picking up the shampoo I need to shower, and not doing anything at all. Using my hands to any degree hurts like hell.

Which is genuinely disheartening because I used to draw stuff like this before my job overworked me to the bone

Not to mention that I was hospitalized for my dissociative disorder earlier this year and I haven't recovered from the trauma from the hospital ever since. I have to live with the fact that I might have to change my entire career because of my disability and all I wanted in life was to be an artist and now I can't even hold a pencil for very long....

I won't be homeless, But I won't have any source of income when I move out and I would love More money so my savings don't run out when I leave since I physically cannot work.

I really hate to ask for help, but if you are able to donate or share that would be greatly appreciated.

it truly kills me to say this because i love my job, but while i'm not being laid off at the moment it's looking like my title is going to be redundant within the next few months. there's a chance i'll be able to stay with my company, but it's not likely from what i've gathered.

Hi! I'm the Mun of PickMe! You can call me Mun, or Nil! I'm a 24 year old disabled, AutDHD, polyamorous pan demisexual with a relationship to gender that typically escapes labels, but I go by they/them generally speaking. I'm also a DID system! Our collective name is Scalemail.

PickMe!ARG started as just a silly little project between me and my close friends, something to goof off with and collectively brainrot over. The initial idea came in January of 2021, but started to be fleshed out more in '22 and has really started to kick off here on Tumblr during '23! I'm super happy to be sharing these characters, as well as getting to make friends and participate in the wider YanLovers community!

One of the main cornerstones of this ARG that I think sets it apart is that it was made for other polyamorous people like me. All of the LI's are canonically poly, and I really look forward to people being able to get the true end where everyone is a polycule together ^-^

Making this has been important to me, not only for the relationships I've built in the process, but because poly representation is something I hardly ever see. Plus, it's a hell of a challenge to make a yandere be ok with sharing their darling! Tackling that challenge, I think, has made me a better creator overall as I piece together the overarching dynamics of 9 different characters, some of whom hate each other on principle.

Help Aspiring Doctor Overcome Financial and Health Barriers

I’m not one to ever ask for donations but I’m out of ideas at this point. I am a university student with aspirations to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology, through which I intend to provide care to underserved communities. However, significant mental health challenges have led me to take time off from my studies. I am currently working towards returning to my studies but there have unfortunately been substantial financial barriers.

I come from a low-income background and only have the privilege of attending university due to an academic scholarship. Without access to student resources, it has been very challenging to secure effective mental health treatment at home. I no longer have access to my student healthcare plan and I also have a considerable amount of debt to address. Unfortunately, my primary family is currently at risk of losing our primary source of income and my extended family members have their own financial challenges as well, so I do not have any assistance.

I need intensive treatment in order to stabilize my mental health enough to return to my studies but the treatment cost is simply beyond my current means. I have been tirelessly working since taking my leave of absence, but it just isn't enough to both provide for myself and afford the level of care that I need. I am running out of time before the deadline for readmission approaches and my scholarship will soon be in jeopardy. I am seeking funds to clear up outstanding bills and to pay for my mental health treatment.

I know that these challenges may seem minor in comparison to the hardships that people are enduring all over the world, but I have worked my entire life to reach this point. I have dedicated every single part of myself to fulfilling my goal of becoming a doctor and I desperately don't want to lose this opportunity.
