please tell me how ur gonna use romelle's story I NEED TO KNOWWW
if you tell me yours ill tell you mine
dude I have SOOOOOOO many ideas. this is definitely more geared towards my rewrite—Romelle’s backstory for my dragon prince au is already pretty solid and is Secret rn—but!! I really want Romelle to be part of the rebellion, even if she’s just trying to start her own on the colony. she saw what’s going on firsthand, and she’s willing to do what it takes to make it stop.
now gimmie yours (threat)
#renblogs#this is an awful explanation#but it’s like 1am#and I’m so tired man#but I’ll be able to explain it more once I have a better grasp of what I’m doing with the rebellion#but I have a lot of ideas#oh also romelle is a tattoo artist of sorts on the colony#but I have to explain lore for that . So I’m just putting that out there

a lot of people act like sqq’s main character trait is obliviousness and i could not disagree more
#it kind of always implies that binghe is being obvious about his feelings and is not the king of mixed messages#shizun i’ll quote romantic poetry at you but while hunting you thru the streets so u can’t even think about it#shizun i was just remembering how you treated me well (chokes him out)#binghe: gives him his robe when he tears sqq’s clothes after threatening to use the blood mites to bite at his organs#i could keep going#when people in the jianghu start to theorize that there’s something romantic going on they’ve had FIVE YEARS of luo binghes bullshit#to start figuring out alternative explanations to explain what he’s got going on#sqq gets like a week before he runs into binghe again and gets nearly killed for LOOKING like sqq#do you see what i am putting down#can we just be honest about the situation being complicated and sqq having to make sense of a LOT of conflicting information#this isn’t even getting into how he feels genuinely threatened by lbh being sweet bc it was a precursor to bingge planning something awful#which we get literal proof of in the punishment protocol#sqq’s got the worst case of confirmation bias

I think Luz's trauma due to being an abuse victim gets ignored a lot in favor of other characters. Luz has an odd role in the fandom as this character who other characters rely on, or who isn't an abuse victim but is supportive of her friends who are, and I think that ends up missing a huge part of her story.
Belos compliments her a lot, which is partially because he wants to reach out to her and mostly because he thinks he can manipulate her. He does some backhanded compliments, telling her she's improved but she still has work to do to catch up to him. He also thanks her quite a few times. The way he thanks her intentionally triggers her guilt, especially when he thanks her for helping him with Hunter. He also compliments her to put other people down, like when he tells her she's "better than this" (implying their race makes them morally superior).
He also uses the same manipulation tactic on Luz that he does on Hunter, although it doesn't work as well on her. He tries to remove his own agency for his physical violence by blaming the Curse. The biggest example is in King's Tide, when he pretends he can't hear her as he's racing after her to try and kill her. He ends up cutting her face while pretending to be out of control and then in the same sequence has full control and clarity to talk to Hunter and the Collector. He gaslights Luz by trying to make it seem like it was The Curse causing him to act in the way he did.
He refers to Luz as "crazy" to invalidate her emotions and harming Hunter in front of her also is a form of abuse. He's obviously aware that hurting Hunter traumatizes Luz (and everyone else) but as his focus transfers from Hunter to Luz in Hollow Mind, he starts targeting her specifically by harming Hunter to hurt her (especially in TTT). Belos shifts the blame for events from himself to Luz and also attempts to make her feel guilty. Hunter seems to understand that Luz is also being abused and tries to reassure her that Belos is an abuser and she shouldn't take what he says at face value. Luz ends up taking that advice to heart after she's able to forgive herself and face Belos. She doesn't speak to him but is able to hear his manipulation tactics and just. stare at him bc he's full of bullshit.
Just because he 'only' hits her a few times and isn't her guardian doesn't mean he can't abuse her or that he didn't. It's not really a protagonist-antagonist relationship as much as it is "adult man nuking 14 year old repeatedly until she becomes god and kills him". The idea that child abuse can only come from parents and not role models or other adults in your life is odd, because he distinctly holds a position of power over her (literally an Emperor and an adult who intentionally isolates her and the other kids alone to abuse them) and uses it to emotionally and physically harm her.
Papa Titan has to reassure her that she's okay to kill Belos because he's literally a serial killer who's lying about his intentions. Luz still slightly falls for Belos's sympathetic line until that moment because he very intentionally tried to get her to feel bad for him and also feel guilt about herself.
This is also why I really detest any fandom takes where Belos canonically is supposed to care about her, or Luz owes him anything. Manipulation is not sympathetic. Belos committed premeditated murder and then used the remains of his murder victim to try to make a "Better Version" of his murder victim which was actually just a way to punish him repeatedly and keep taking out revenge on kids who had nothing to do with the original conflict. Belos is Luz's abuser also, and Luz doesn't owe him any sort of kindness or consideration and her anger is valid.
Luz is an abuse victim of Belos's in addition to Hunter and the Collector (and Vee/Lilith by extension), and she should be considered as such rather than her trauma being invalidated in favor of other characters.
#the owl house#toh#long post#tw abuse#tw child abuse#luz noceda#explanation under cut#looooong post#it's kinda hard to tell if Darius and Raine would be also by extension#bc ultimately we have no idea wtf happened with Darius and Belos#but Terra for Raine for sure.#That place of employment was. not rated top 100 places to work in the Boiling Isles#much less for Darius who was connected to Belos when he was younger and then grew up and worked for him as an adult...#and there's 10000000% no way Belos wasn't awful to him bc Belos would've considered him similar to Evelyn#and like. it's hard to say who Belos hates most in the universe but it seems like Evelyn's in the top 3

Me explaining in terms of strictly how I read canon I think Nahida not severely punishing the Sages is just meant to convey that Nahida, even when wronged, is not a very vengeful or harsh person and makes the choice to be kind instead, but in my mind I have this idea of a Nahida interpretation which elaborates on that where her self punishing tendencies extend to her being someone who internally downplays her own experiences constantly, and as a result has a hard time feeling she’s allowed or justified in placing a lot of blame on the Sages for what they did to her So while she is following her own philosophies regarding teaching lessons/wisdom/etc in how to handle the Sages and genuinely doesn’t want to be really angry or punishing because of who she is as a person, her decision is also influenced by the fact she’s basically blocked herself out of grappling with how to handle people who hurt her by blaming herself for said hurt instead as a coping mechanism. And like this is all just me being insane about Nahida Trauma and not something explicitly implied in canon but also I really do think this isn’t a far stretch from her canon characterization especially when my vision isn’t to conclude that Nahida needs to be angry and vengeful but she should extend the kindness she shows others to herself and also every day I get tormented thinking about she was the mental equivalent of an average human child when the Sages found her and how they basically specifically discarded her for being a child and the idea of how Nahida would pick up on + internalize that and eventually need time to unlearn it
#nahida#genshin#fern.txt#fandomferns#fictional child abuse cw#anyways is anyone else here normal#see I think a sentiment most ppl get from nahdia’s character is correctly that she is kind despite being treated so poorly#but I want to explore her grappling with Why she does that bc she is genuinely kind#and I don’t think she’s struggling with moving on from things#but based off things she says word for word I feel it’s established nahida is very distressed by not being able to rationalize or#understand things that upset her#this is clear in both her SQs & her voicelines even down to her not liking seafood bc the unknown of the ocean#intimidates her. so I’d imagine she’s someone who responds to being mistreated by concluding#there must be a reason for it. and I actually have dialogue that backs me up here#bc when we first learn the sages have imprisoned nahida nahida herself basically says it’s fine bc her existence has#little meaning and she’s not good enough to be an archon. even as paimon is remarking how awful#the sages are for it and prompting nahida on if she’s upset w them#it’s not that Nahida isn’t insightful enough to acknowledge something as mistreatment#but rather she finds more comfort and a sense of control in having explanations for things#heck the reason she gives up her gnosis to Dottore is states in her char stories to be bc#she doesn’t want the lack of control that comes from a lack of information#nahida leaning on knowledge for a sense of control makes me esp sad when I think abt how#she does not have autonomy or agency for a majority of her life bc of her imprisonment n had fo rely on her#mind n ability to learn n gain knowledge#anyways to reiterate ks anyone else normal

watching tua s4 knowing fully how its going to disappoint me rn and something that keeps bothering me is just how awful it is that they dont show what happens during the 6 year time skip.
like in season 2 we get to see an abridged version of how everyone got to where they are. this allowed for me as viewer to at least undertsand the reasoning behind the siblings' actions and conflicts. but in season 4 there is just none of that.
instead we only get to see the after of the timeskip. Whatever bits we do hear abt the time in between are extremly limited because they are things that are told to us from biased/flawed/one-sided perspectives. I as a viewer do not get a clear idea of why any of the 8 charcters of the main cast change the way they do becuase i am never shown how this change ocurred. its more i am told things and have to accept because of the 6 year gap.
lila and diego's strained marriage is actually i think the only they showed without telling to an extent. but it still would have also been nice to see thier struggles transitioning to suburbia and would also aid me to better understand why neither of them tried to find an adequate balance in the 6 years. also like why is diego working as a delivery driver? in my mind it makes more sense for him to be a mediocre private investgator or something like that? idk just some more context behind the tension and thier decsions (especially lila dear god dont even get me started) would have been wonderful
viktor's journey to Canada and his distancing from the others sounded interesting and i would have loved to see that on screen. he clearly is unable to form long lasting intamate relationships and showing his life in the time gap would have been a great way to show his journey of accepting the loss of sissy.
allison was definitely hit hard by the lack of explanation. i understand the scheduling issues with raymond's actor but it truly was a heavy blow to season 3 allison actions when they just said he left with no other explanation. most of her conflicts in season 3 were motivated by the loss of claire and raymond and you are telling me she just lost 50% of that a year afterwards? and like this doesnt get mentioned until episode 3??
i actually enjoyed klaus's shift to a risk averse person and it did make sense to me after losing his immortality to become more aware of not only his but his loved ones mortality. the biggest glaring issue is the one everyone has talked about: the lack of dave. i think if they had shown klaus trying to find info on dave and/or even visiting his grave in the timeskip it would been fine with me that he wouldn't mention dave that much. but the dog tags being on screen and him not saying anything is actually inasne??? also it sounds like there was definitely more to his sobriety than what they have told sad that we didnt get to see that storyline....
everyone has said thier piece on how luther just mentioning sloane and then no other explanation is actually awful. like a simple flashback fo luther searching and finding sloane living a different life would have been better than them giving us nothing💀
ben i actually have nothing to say...it would have been silly to see the crypto scam ig. also an explanation of why they even showed the other ben the post credit of the s3 finale i think is warranted. like even a mention of yeah there is probably another ben who belongs to this universe walking around would have been okay ig
five oh where to even begin.... first of all how tf does a person who isnt even in thier 20s even get a gig at the cia. i know they said some bullahit abt five being a part of a relative young group/recruit (cant remember the exact wording) but like a person who is younger than 19 getting a job at the cia is a bit much. also i actually refuse to belive that five wouldn't have figured out his boss was part of the keepers there is just no way. after the handler and reggie i refuse to belive that five would lose his suspicion towards authority figures. i think the only authority figure he has ever listened to was the founder version of himself and even that took time. like if you want me to believe that bs then show me how five turned his brain into mush in the 6 year time skip. either that or show how me his loneliness in those six year because from what i have right now five worked at the cia and that is it nothing else. like from what i have been told by the show nothing else happended to him besides working. which if thier implication is that he was only working and drifted apart from his siblings that message was not clear enough to me as viewer and would have been alot clearer if i was shown such as thing.
#written before i watch the finale but i read evedy spoiler bc after i heard abt fivelila i had to know what other bs they were pulling#like i think the charcter assassination was party due to this lack of explanation of why these charcters are so different than when we left#tua s4#tua#the umbrella academy#tua s4 spoilers#i think that at least luther allison and klaus ooc actions an dialog could have been fixed by this#the love triangle however....personally i belive the best solution is to actually just not do that#but this is a close second#the way there is no satisying ending for that is insane like if u r going shoehorn in this awful romance that no one asked for#the least you could do is man up and own that shit and pick a canon ending for that shit#but i digress

It's easy to get the impression that Tetsuji never cared enough to rein in Riko's behaviour and temper but I think it's the opposite. I think Riko grew up constantly being told stuff like, "You have to learn to control your temper" and, "Is that any way to behave?" by Tetsuji. I think Tetsuji would have even disciplined him harshly every time he was caught acting out of anger. But all that is coming from Tetsuji - the man who would beat a kid if they displeased him in any way. How can you ever really take to heart the words of someone who demonstrates the exact opposite of what they preach? How are you supposed to not learn that the real lesson is, "Become the one who has all the power over everyone else and you will never have to suffer criticism for how you behave ever again."
#you cannot tell me that tetsuji isn't every bit as angry and violent as riko#he's just better at hiding it because he directs it at people who can't speak up about it or do anything about it#this is the sort of thing i mean when i say riko is a product of his environment#being treated a certain way reinforces certain behaviour patterns#sometimes those behaviour patterns just feed into a bad cycle which continues to reinforce them#it's not an excuse but it is an explanation#i don't know why i'm even saying this because i actually quite like riko as a character who's an awful person#i like him specifically because he's awful in an interesting way and i wouldn't want it any other way#aftg#riko moriyama#i feel like i could write essays about how riko#despite being a seemingly over the top evil villain actually does a good job of showing some of the worst responses to trauma and#how he reflects the worst that we can realistically become

hi i love your art, and I want to ask a question. What's your inspirations for the artstyle you have? It's very experimental but also super confident and has high contrast
Hellooo, I’m happy you would care to ask. Thanks for liking my art. I’ll try to keep it short but I am finding this one hard to answer without rambling on aimlessly and barely answering the question. My bad.
Concise version
I place a lot of focus on displaying thoughts through visually capturing art. I also have a tendency to condemn art style stagnation and obsession, and I like to mess around. I don’t focus on style even remotely. The confidence is because of the way my body throws lines onto a page and the contrast is because I like contrast.
My inspiration isn’t consistent, so I won’t bother listing off specifics right now other than : I’ve been getting more into abstract art, and I have a burgeoning interest in getting messy with it. Mainly I just look at art for hours a day and I really love and care about art. I’m in no way a professional but I think that’s all you need.
Meandering version I wrote first
+ A vaguely related comment from talking to another friend about my art improvement yesterday.
Here is some older lists of (largely internet based) artists that inspire me though. I would have some additions and subtractions right at this moment, but I thought it might be worth adding.
I’m sorry. I don’t think much of this is very well written, I’m too excited to talk about inspiration and about art and I am indubitably missing things out. Feel free to tell me if I’m missing out something you would want an answer to.
#ask#Lalalala here is where my awful explanation abilities really get a chance to shine.#My bad. I hope this helps… at all#I’m not rereading any of this because I will keep tweaking it for another hour or something#I’ll maybe add something else later if I realise I dun goofed up. Ok

Pike and Scanlan getting married: I'm not into this but it's the end of the campaign. It's easy enough to let it go and move on. Pike indicating she and Scanlan are amicably divorced: The knowledge that it didn't work out adds a bittersweet angle to the marriage that actually makes me like it more now. Whatever the fuck Pike and Scanlan have going on now: This is a glorious disaster and I want like a million episodes of this.
#critical role#pike trickfoot#scanlan shorthalt#like campaign 3 pike as presented by matt#and campaign 3 pike as played by ashley#are so totally different#and for a watsonian explanation i'd say matt's pike was around strangers#and much like matt's keyleth was putting on more of her public face#whereas now that they're back in the hands of their respective players#and they're back around people they've known for decades#they can be like#aw fuck do i really have to call my ex?#i'm so tired of giving speeches and making up titles why does everyone need a title#(and for a doylist explanation it's just like. i think matt is playing the characters a bit safe.)#(doesn't want to step on any toes or make big decisions without being consulted.)#anyway i do also like the amicable divorce angle#it's like 'hey this happily ever after was not ever after because real people are complex'#'and they don't just stagnate while they're offscreen'#'but also it feels like they learned more about themselves and came away with some children they adore'#'so even if it didn't work out they probably don't regret it'#but no the messy on-again-off-again i don't actually remember if we're married or divorced right now#and the awkward conversations and the extreme 'not over it' energy they both have#i'm way more invested in this ship than i have ever been ya'll

I'm sorry for continuing to reference the inheritance cycle but also I'm not bc it turns out the overall worldbuilding in those books for the most part fucks severely and also shaped my brain very much in my formative years
#nerd alert#the race stuff is a little average shallow fantasy written by a white person kinda shit but still not awful overall#but the way magic works is very solid and well-explained and theres a lot of like. basic physics explanations behind some of it#it makes SENSE and theres very little thats not explained#and the stuff thats not explained is like 'people have researched this and we arent sure yet' and such#theres exactly 1 thing that feels a LITTLE like a cop-out or deus ex machina type plot point but it is well foreshadowed at least

I have an acquaintance who I admire in some ways because he's really trying to move the bar in talking about difficult history, but at the same time, he's terrible at explaining why. He just shares other people's posts about history on instagram and saying that they're terrible without explaining (usually it's a post from, like, Mount Vernon that talks ebout enslaved people but doesn't go into detail about the horrors of slavery) and I just feel like it's not helping. The latest one was just an informational post about an informal history conference happening in the area and all he said was "this isn't public history, it's fetishism" like the ENTIRE CONFERENCE is fetishism??? Sir it's literally just various historians sharing their research. It can definitely be more diverse but like. History is a spectrum my dude
#this is just an instagram problem like he teaches actual classes about this which probably make sense#but in the meantime everyone is like like “who is this jerk insulting us with no explanation”#and I very much understand that we need to focus WAY more on slavery and how much it permeated all of society#but when I feel like I had to fight tooth and nail to get what little interpretation I have into my org#to have people turn around and say “this is awful these people don't care they should be ashamed” it hurts

I love night springs episode 1 so much, but especially because of the fact that it was, of course, canonically written by Alan in a legitimate attempt to escape the dark place. At some point between 2010 and 2019, he fully just went, okay fuck it, maybe that super fan waitress who got possessed by the dark presence and drugged me is actually the chosen one. it's the epitome of "he'd try anything once"
#'he'd try anything once' is his explanation for the Hiss Incantation via the AWE dlc in control. fyi#i do wonder what the plan was for ep. 2 - did he make himself infected by the Not The Hiss? i dont get it#gonna have to rewatch someone else's playthrough or smth#alan wake 2#night springs

I am here, once again, with my Ao No Flag propaganda
These two specific panels of Toma were the thing that made me think over a year ago “Man. I want to be like that too” as in KAITO drawing expression because—
The subtle shift of emotion, it’s present all throughout the manga, but this is what sold it for me. For no particular reason, it’s not even the best example, it was just what sealed the deal to me
#it’s the way his eyes open slightly in surprise when Seiya tells him that his friends refused to give an explanation when asked about#what happened in what I think is a way of them showing they care about Toma#and that surprises Toma since I believe he might have been doubtful his friends would forgive him after that#which man. idk maybe it’s because it hit home in some other things. it’s so good#Kaito handles the way the characters express themselves so good I’m always in awe anytime I reread any volume#it’s just. they feel so real in their flaws and mistakes and how they take it. for example our dear protagonist#man he is a wreck. but it’s understandable since he is going through a stage in life where he is still understanding himself!#and KAITO depicts it so nicely and lets him be awful. and let’s everyone be it too. they fuck up yes! but it’s not the end of the world#and he shows that too. how it’s okay to make mistakes but you have to owe them and grow from them not get stuck in them#it’s the little me inside of myself that was making me weep I believe#Ao no flag#blue flag#toma mita#yeah this is about volume 7 too#well i dont know it’s the way Seiya is older sibling anguish that hit me with a bat personally because 🤝. same.#and just. AAAAGGHHHH I’m going insane

So I watched the Director’s Cut versions of Rebel Moon Part One & Two, respectively renamed Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness, exactly one week ago, the day they were released.
As a person who generally doesn’t enjoy the idea of watching films that are over 2.5 hours, really isn’t a fan of gore, and thinks sex scenes are uncomfortable and unnecessary 95% of the time, I was rather apprehensive, to say the least, since those three things are precisely what the two movies promised. Still, I managed to watch them on the same day even though the fact it was hot outside and consequently almost 30°C in my room probably didn’t help me not to feel unwell for a good portion of my viewing experience :’)
However, there’s a fourth thing the new version of the films promised, and this, on the contrary, is exactly what I love and probably what kept me going: more lore. I won’t go into too much detail so as not to spoil major plot points here, but I think Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness kept all their promises.
Some characters get a proper introduction (notably Aris and Nemesis), or more screen time so we understand them and what they do (mostly the Priests, Hawkshaws, and Jimmy), or a better, more satisfying, sometimes more emotional ending. We also get completely new scenes and characters, and that too greatly helps the narrative, whether it’s by adding more backstory, taking the time to explain someone’s motivations more clearly, revealing how some people reacted to certain events, or detailing how something works.
Also, some of the “mistakes” viewers complained about, for example the spaceship being powered with coal or somebody not missing any teeth after we clearly see them get knocked out, are fixed in the Director’s Cut. It turns out those things were not illogical, they were just censored for the PG-13 version…
As for the sex scenes, while they weren’t indispensable, I have to admit they do serve a purpose. The two “main” ones have a character in common, so we can see how different that person feels and acts with each of their two partners. The scenes need to exist together because they’re only really interesting when you compare them, but that’s how they tell a story. Never in my life had I been so happy to see someone successfully remove a bra, haha! There’s also, of course, the one that involves tentacles, which was–thankfully–milder than I thought it would be, and another unexpected one that happens off-screen but was a rather nice and cute surprise, in my opinion.
And, yes, aside from giving us more blood and more sex, we also get… more wheat! I really don’t mind, though. In fact, this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I’d watch one hour of the cast (actually) harvesting crops in slow motion over just one minute of heads exploding any day :’)
While they’re still not perfect, I think Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness are improved versions of A Child of Fire and The Scargiver. I still like Part Two better than Part One, but overall, as promised, we get more information about the world, the characters, and their stories in the Director’s Cut. Sometimes, it’s just a new line of dialog or a short interaction that’s added here and there, but it really does a service to the films and makes them, although they’re much longer (especially the first one), feel more coherent, more compelling, and less rushed.
At the end of the day, I think what I most appreciate about Rebel Moon is still that it was brought to life with a lot of care and passion. The two art books, Wolf: Ex Nihilo: Cosmology & Technology and Wurm: Ex Materia: Heroes & Monsters, confirm how painstakingly made and well-thought-out everything was, and I will always love and respect this about this project.
#so yeah the main problem I have with the r-rated versions is that... they’re r-rated#aside from that they made me go 'ooooh okay' or 'why didn’t we see that before?' several times#too bad they removed the names of the locations this time though because that helps me memorize them#that and the explanation/summary at the beginning#rebel moon#chalice of blood#curse of forgiveness#a child of fire#the scargiver#zack snyder#in interviews and the art books everyone says he’s a great person to be and work with#so many people in the film industry are accused of being awful behind-the-scenes so that’s nice to know not everyone is secretly a monster#that makes me like and want to support his work even more
