#2: What scene did you first put down?

the first scene i thought of was Vlad getting his ass beat by the marine captain, but the first scene i actually wrote was Vlad first showing up on the ship. i very much wanted to write chronologically bc everytime i didn't do that for bang, i fuck myself over kjdhfgd

#9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

there was:

Vlad willingly showing off one or two of his ghost powers and explaining them to gain good grace with Buggy & lying that it's a devil fruit but haha oh silly him, he doesn't know which one he ate, isn't that crazy? (they dont believe him). This one had Vlad using a lot more ghost powers anddd i think i didn't give him the weakness to seawater in this one (tragedy)

a longer version of this fic with scenes of A) Vlad and Buggy commiserating over stupid teenagers ruining their plans; B) getting to Loguetown and Vlad exploring (read: looking for a way home) on his own; and C) the actual, canon events of Loguetown happening in hints and snippets, but Vlad not paying attention to any of that in the slightest before suddenly being grabbed and told Buggy's crew is going to the Grand Line. I think I had a note about him learning about the dangers of the Grand Line throughout the fic too.

Vlad fighting Buggy's crew instead of the Marines, in an attempt to escape their ship to land. That version had Vlad able to kind of fight everyone except Buggy. was scrapped bc that Vlad was too competent

Serious answer: there are so many ship (boat) terms i did not know. and then i learned them and didn't use them anyway ksdjfhdfg

Not as serious answer: if you say "hmm i accidentally made this a little gay. lemme take that out" your friends will chant "OLD MAN YAOI OLD MAN YAOI" until the old man yaoi is unconsciously added to your fic skjdhfs

his ftes 😡😡 i played them a while ago so my memory is pretty foggy but i remember shuichi was like "so you've been talking down to me bc you DO think you're better than me 😡🧐🤢" (his ftes just made me feel awkward in general) and that kinda made me robophobic... ik i sound like a dummy but yeah i guess i look at him the way kokichi does. i don't actually hate his traits or anything, i just think he's a goober (i hope any of this makes sense i just woke up at 1am)

I've seen a few posts about women and pants now and many of them are very good, and not to nitpick those posts or downplay religious sexism or anything, but I have to emphasise:

Somebody who DOESN'T live in a controlling religious country/cult/family is also affected by sexism. We all know that, right? Secular parts of the first world also have opinions about how women dress, including when it comes to trousers, especially in childhood and in institutions like schools and the workplace

Me and many people my age (20s) remember being forced into skirts, punished and shamed by parents & teachers & peers & possibly then bosses about what we wear not being feminine enough, and it wasn't by deeply religious sects. Many updates to dress codes are very new and sexist views are still in place in many institutions. Normalised societal misogyny wants women (and people they want to treat as women) to dress femininely, down to what KIND of pants they're allowed to wear (compare a pink top and jeggings to mens jeans and tell me these two women are treated the same. Hating women in pantsuits is still a sexist office joke today, and even those outfits are feminine compared to male suits, which raise eyebrows when worn by women). The women I know who wear trousers regularly are literally otherwise feminine, and all wear dresses to events.

I know trousers have become much more normalised over the past few decades in secular society (yay!! the result of many many years of effort and lawbreaking) but let's not be absolute when we talk about the pants concept lol. Especially within a larger conversation about female/transmasc/intersex/transfem masculinity and social perceptions, especially in an age of rising fascism

One of my favorite headcanons is that Leo grew up watching telenovelas with Splinter.

It just works so well - his bits of Spanish that he spouts randomly, his showy way of apologizing, and, of course, his love for dramatic betrayals all point to this being a very real possibility.

Plus, it’s very cute to imagine a tiny Leo at his father’s side as they both gasp in shock when the show’s eighth plot twist in just as many episodes happens.
