Anyone else ever have like this one character that you don't actually like per se, but seeing the fandom talk about them, and compare them unfavourably to other, worse characters makes you like them just out of spite?

I'm going to have to have to fight so hard against my gatekeep instinct once X starts gaining a larger playerbase, I got so used to the only people who talk about X being people who have been playing it for years and who were really really into it and all the little tee-hee inside jokes about how it's stuck on a different console and "explain that you are dead inside" and the "Wind That Blows Hard December" and "All 12 Xenoblade X Players" and all the good-natured ribbing at the games flaws

It's going to be an adjustment all these new eyes but other people deserve to get to play this game and at the end of the day I don't have ownership of it. I just hope modern 2020s fandom discourse is kind to X, the GamerGate discourse of X's day already did a number on the conversation surrounding its release and I really don't want a repeat of that

Obsessed with characters who maintain an undying loyalty to another. Absolutely love the kind of character who would be willing to tear apart nations to please the recipient of their loyalty, the kind who would fell gods and men alike for their master's goals. Utterly feral for characters willing to sacrifice every part of their being because they believe so deeply in the goals of the one whom they serve, or even just out of pure love and devotion to the person themselves, the kind who would face down any and every opponent just to see their liege safe and happy, the kind who would rend the very world if it took that person away from them.
