If I had to guess, I think Callum will immediately fly for Katolis in season 7, but if he is there for Runaan's fuller debrief...
Rayla: So... when I said Ethari was waiting for you, what I meant was, he thinks you're dead and has for the past two years.
Runaan: *pulling on literally the first shirt he can find and scrambling east toward the Silvergrove*
Rayla: ...And I'm Ghosted, and if you try to go home you may be too.
Runaan: *stares at her in horror*
Rayla: But we're not alone! We have Callum! He saved you! He's a ~mage~
(Runaan has not gotten the memo on humans and magic. Callum is also dressed exactly like Viren, and, to Runaan's eyes, looks just like the man who tortured and imprisoned him. Runaan is one wrong move away from snapping)
Callum: Hi, we've met. ...When you broke into our castle... to kill my family...
Runaan:
Callum: Also I pawned your husband's wedding ring and accidentally killed your dog. Is this a bad time to tell you I'm dating your daughter?
Runaan (holding it together only through years of honed self-control): *turns stiffly and walks into the trees. Moments later a flock of birds fly out, disturbed by a completely unrelated scream that rings through the woods*
#I know the moon opal necklaces aren't their wedding rings and Callum certainly isn't responsible for the poor moonstrider's death#I just thought it'd be funnier this way 😄#poor runaan#he hasn't even heard about the zombie apocalypse#the dragon prince#tdp#runaan#rayla#callum#moonfam#tdp season 6 spoilers#tdp season 7 speculation

For the cuddle dialogue! How about Rayla and Callum with 7 and 13?? <3
Callum opened his eyes, the familiar ceiling of his room at the Moon Nexus coming into focus above him. He pulled an arm out from under the covers and rolled over, draping it over Rayla, still sleeping beside him. This, he thought, is an improvement over the last time we were here.
He watched the slow rise and fall of her chest as she slept, listening to the whisper of her breathing. She was perfect. This morning was perfect.
The sunlight filtering through the high, arched windows slanted across her face and she yawned, moving instinctively away from the light and burrowing into Callum's chest. Some part of him still couldn't believe that this was real. Why hadn't they been doing this from the start?
Well, he knew why. But still.
He let her wake up slowly, enjoying every quiet moment of their first peaceful morning in... well, it sort of felt like forever. The world was saved. They were saved. Every day could be like this. From now until forever. That was a better kind for forever, Callum thought.
"Callum?" Rayla asked, groggily. "Why are you lookin' at me like that?"
"Oh, nothing." Callum replied dreamily.
"Stop it." she laughed, batting him away.
"Never!" he teased, wrapping his arms around her again. "I think someone needs a good cuddle."
"Callum!" she squealed, laughing. Her silver hair was in his face, and he planted a big kiss on top of her head. But his victory didn't last long, because then there was a pillow flying into his face and he fell backwards, nearly toppling off the bed.
"I told you these were dangerous weapons." Rayla said, standing over him with her pillows raised defensively.
"Only in the right hands."
She threw another pillow at him. "Quit being all soppy."
"Can't help it." Callum said, tossing the pillow right back. Then he dove forward, pinning her to the bed again. She let out a small shriek of surprise.
"You're only winning cause I just woke up!"
"Mhm." Callum replied, quickly snatching the pillow away before she could reach it. "I'm not letting go, so you can stop fighting it."
She sighed, relaxing into his arms and resting her head on his shoulder. Her hair, still unruly from sleep, tickled his face.
"Hm. Fine. I do like cuddlin'."
"So do I win then-"
They were interrupted by the door opening, both of their faces tinging bright pink as Runaan stuck his head in.
"Lujanne wanted me to inform you that breakfast-" he broke off, eyes roving over the scene before he let out a long sigh. "Nevermind. You're clearly busy."
He withdrew his head and closed the door before either of them could say anything. Which was probably good, because all they seemed to be able to do afterwards was giggle.

Just read a Reddit post that said they loved the "break the cycle" and "forgiveness" theme in tdp but couldn't see how the peaceful World Callum and Ezran envisioned and a World where Runaan exists could possibly co-exist and that brining Runaan back would be, and I quote, "one of the worst choices the show could make" followed by the reasoning "it would be uncomfortable" 🤦
Buddy, I hate to tell you this, but that's kinda the point... that's the tea.

Isn't it so loaded that we got Rayla saving three different characters from "corruption" this season? Esmeray with a lullaby about love‚ with Runaan telling him that she loves and needs him and Callum with being his guiding star because they love each other so much.
Which makes you think... Rayla saving Callum in s7 may be a combination of all three.
Because this time she will not choose love by leaving out of duty (killing him)‚ she will choose love by staying (saving him).
#like these three are leading up to this#REEEH#what if she sings the lullaby to him (great theory mando) and then tells him she loves and needs him#and kisses him using her power of being his guiding star to break him free#we will die#rayllum#Rayla#tdp#the dragon prince#give us the saga#continue the saga

Random shit about season 6:
Runaan was shirtless and it was great
Sick Soren was not what I was expecting
Damien looks hot
That was his name right
Aaravos's backstory was amazing and was NOT expecting him to have a daughter
VIRENS FUCKING DEAD
Refuse to believe it
Runaan
Those mushroom things were adorable
Gren was so adorable 🥰
THEYRE MARRIED AÀAAAAAAAAA
Aaravos said the word daddy
Claudia pulled a motherfucking Izzy Hands
I'm sorry but we needed more Terry
Their mum was honestly right to leave and I will stand by that. What happened with Viren must of been terrifying for her
I can't remember names but I really liked the future elf dudes sister
Shirtless
Soren and Corvus were such cute little buddies
Stella and sneezles are such fucking match makers
I was honestly kinda half expecting the frozen ship to be a ghost ship just because of the fact that door kept swinging closed again
It was wishful thinking
Runaan taught Rayla that lullaby and you can't convince me otherwise
Shirtless Runaan
The mushrooms to me were the equivalent of the seaslug and those pompom stick together things
This season really rolling out the angst isn't it
Loved Viren from the first episode
Ruthari even though they weren't even on screen together apart from the flashback of them smoochies

Do you have any observations about which hand Runaan uses? You mentioned it in a post, and now I'm curious about it since I haven't noticed anything about that myself :3
Runaan's hands, you say 👀 Right this way please because I sure do!
My theory is that Runaan is a sort of mix between right-handed and left-handed, that isn't just being ambidextrous. I'm sure he is, as a trained assassin, but there's more weight to it than that. Which hand he uses first seems to have meaning to him, so he reaches with intent.
Let's start with this image from S6E9, which sums up Runaan's hand preferences:
Right hand on Ethari's pendant, left hand on his sword. He's had a split in his hand preferences since S1.
He uses his right hand first when he's doing something soft, like bringing his husband in for a kiss, or hugging Rayla after she saved his life.
And he uses his left hand first when he's doing something hard, like killing humans, or trying to kill his own daughter.
I think Rayla knows this secret assassin hand language, because when she reaches for Runaan to bring him back, she takes his left hand - the one he commits crimes with - in her right. She accepts all of him, even the stabby dark parts that literally tried to kill her, because she loves him unconditionally.
Most of the time, Runaan's swinging both swords equally. It's his fighting style. But when he chooses to use only one hand by itself, these are the patterns I've noticed.
This seems to be wholly separate from his hand stimming, which he just seems to use to regulate his emotions. And then there's the way he cries little tears all the time (seriously he has tears in his eyes/on his cheeks in so many different scenes) and pretends he isn't (sir we see you having Feelings).
Runaan is a character who's full of things to say, but they're all silent and only readable if you look really closely. He's a book in small print!
Thanks for the chance to infodump about my blorbo!
#asks#thanks for the ask!#runaan#runaan's hands#the right vs left is another one of those subtle biblical themes#tied to why aaravos is left handed i expect#and why viren did things left handed when aaravos was controlling him#theoretically anyone aaravos controls should go left handed#hold on i gotta look something up rq

like idk maybe this isn't obvious but... post s6 it seems pretty clear that Aaravos's spirit was imprisoned, not his body?
He has Callum switch the pearls, rather than just smash the one that is the prison. It could be that he can't control Callum well enough at this juncture to do something like consciously break the prison open (vs. unconsciously grabbing the wrong one), but no matter how vigilant Callum has become... that just doesn't seem super likely? I think it's more that Callum just can't really do anything useful for him, at the time. He's not crammed in there physically like it's a pokeball—if the prison was broken open, he would have to return to the heavens... and I think there's some reason he doesn't want to do that. He needs to wait for the prison and the staff to be together so the quasar diamond is available.
The Orphan Queen had the Novablade. Could she have been keeping it safe so that no one could free Aaravos and then use it to send him back to the heavens? I guess... but honestly that doesn't make a ton of sense to me. If he's out, he's out—you aren't going to have fewer problems because he's running around corporeally vs. not. No, I think she used it on him. I think they set up a trap where the prison was ready to contain his spirit, then destroyed his physical form to force him into it.
Claudia has to magically build a new body for him. I don't really know what else to say about that? Like that's just literally what happens. I might do a post about the spell itself later, because it's really interesting, but like... it is what it is. They are deliberately drawing a parallel between Aaravos's state and, say, Runaan's. I will also note that it definitely seems like it's a new body for Runaan because he's missing the binding and his arm is uninjured.... but on the other hand, his horn is broken, and it's anyone's guess where the pants came from, so who knows.
Some takeaways:
The Jailer: possibly a lot more fucked up than anticipated, if she knew how to do this!
Archmage Akiyu: FUCK so I don't remember who it was but someone compared Aaravos's prison to a primal stone in the context of having captured an entire physical area/phenomenon in an orb, and I THINK THAT WAS APT. Though I don't personally think it's physical, I've previously noted the possible relationship between primal stones and the draining/storing essence concept of the staff and coins. We don't know a lot about creating primal stones, but at least one source says only archmages are powerful enough to do so.
The Orphan Queen: definitely stabbed a bitch.

I think it is super interesting to look at the ways Runaan, Lain, and Tiadrin are dealing with their souls being trapped in the coins. It must be an exhausting, painful, and unbearable reality.
When Rayla first finds Runaan in the Moon Nexus, he is not himself.
Lain and Tiadrin seem too blissful and carefree.
Based on where they are and how Runaan reacted when he was coined, none of their mental states are great.
I kept thinking about emotional suffering/abuse and coping skills that help more than hurt but are basically the natural result of humans (elves) experiencing horrors no one should have to and I wanted to take a closer look at how Runaan and Laindrin protected themselves differently.
I think Lain and Tiadrin have endured as long as they have through avoidance. If it isn't happening in their beautiful field full of lotuses and dancing and dreamy music, it's not real. There is no being trapped where their imagination and thoughts have taken them. They are carefree and without a worry.
I think a takeaway for fans as we all deal with our own difficult circumstances in life is that turning to something and investing in it SO heavily that it feels like our only reality can be hurtful in many ways. We may miss key warning signs from our soul or body that things aren't going great and we need a change. We may be so caught up in something that makes us feel fantastic that we may not notice loved ones who need our help and support. It seems like a better coping skill, but in the long run can bring just as much pain, especially since the escapism won't last forever.
Seeing Runaan's coping play out is a lot more painful for me, since I have felt many of the same feelings. Lashing out at someone you care about due to your own pain is a great parallel to Runaan physically fighting Rayla.
And it all comes from the guilt and shame that he internalizes. He puts everything on himself, not being able to acknowledge that elements such as Moonshadow culture, raising Rayla while trying to keep up with his work as an assassin, and following orders from higher ups have all shaped what happened when Rayla came on the Katolis Castle mission.
These feelings of shame that he carries around lead to isolation and its so sad to think that he almost blamed himself and pulled away so thoroughly that he couldn't see all that he has given Rayla and Ethari and how they needed him, as well as the fact that he isn't a monster and is loved!
can't wait to see Runaan heal in s7 (and beyond??? pls) and I miss Lain and Tiadrin deeply
tldr; i just think its neat all the ways that tdp explores emotional fallout with so many characters and how they cope.

WHAT I HOPE HAPPENS IN SEASON 7
Alright buckle up because this might get long. (also if somebody else has already made this theory I apologise)
To start, let's recap a few Important Events in season 6.
Rayla promises to kill Callum if he gets controlled by aaravos again.
Callum does the cleansing thing, and is told that if he does dark magic again he will be consumed by it.
We already know aaravos can control dark mages.
It's been said many times by many people that there is a lot of foreshadowing for Callum using dark magic again in season 7 to save Rayla, and therefore 'being consumed by it' and/or falling victim to Aaravos's control once more. In this scenario, Rayla has promised to kill him (and we all know Rayla refuses to break her promises).
There's a lot of takes on this. Some people say that Rayla will, for once, break her promise and refuse to kill Callum; but I frankly hope this DOESN'T happen, because i think it'll be wildly unsatisfying.
I've seen other people point out that there is one remaining Quasar Diamond, and it'd be an INSANE chekovs gun (or whatever the phrase is) to leave that unused. The general theory goes like this:
Callum uses dark magic to save Rayla
Aaravos controls Callum
Rayla kills Callum
Rayla uses the Quasar Diamond to bring Callum back to life
But here's the thing (and correct me if I'm wrong, ofc) isn't the Quasar Diamond unable to revive someone who's actually passed on into the afterlife? Aaravos was stuck in a prison similar to the coins, just made with primal magic, and the COINS were explicitly stated to be a plane between life and death where spirits got trapped. When Rayla's parents passed on, the left they coins but didn't return to mortality like Runaan.
So for the singular Quasar Diamond to revive a dead Callum, something ELSE would have to happen first...
Here's what I imagine in my dreams of Season 7:
At some point in the season, maybe Rayla or Callum has learnt the spell that Viren used to trap people in the coins (we know Callum has studies dark magic...I find it easy to believe that he could've written down the notes for it in his spellbook). I'm pretty sure the Staff of Ziard is required for this spell, so lets just say we have that as well. This will come back in a bit.
Rayla is in some dire moment, about to die, and Callum remembers their conversation at the ship - he remembers promising to choose the greater good over Rayla if it came to it. But he just can't. And somehow, who knows how, he has the opportunity to free her...but only by using Dark magic a third time.
It's no choice for him, of course. He does the spell and Rayla is saved but now Callum is corrupted for good and Aaravos possesses him again (or he just does something villain-arc-y idk). So now Rayla has to fulfill HER promise and even though she's beyond angry and heartbroken with Callum breaking his, she's not about to stoop to his level.
There's a dramatic-ass fight scene between warrior and mage - spells flying everywhere, Rayla battling with swords and arrows and all sorts. But eventually she overpowers him (because of course she does) - shoots an arrow through his heart or stabs him in the chest or something like that. And as he's there, bleeding out in her arms from a wound she inflicted, she gets an idea. A horrible, awful idea but its her only chance to fix this.
Without thinking (because how are you meant to think AT ALL when you're one true love soulmate is DYING-) she picks up the Staff of Ziard, finds the place in Callums book that lists the spell, and digs Runaans blank coin out of her pocket.... and suddenly Callum's dying body is gone and the coin is no longer blank and Rayla. Has. Done. Dark. Magic. GASP-
Anyway no idea what would happen after that but I just really like the idea of Rayla using dark magic and understanding Callum being unable to let her die. I feel like it'd be a GREAT moment and a really confronting and horrifying thing for her and daaammnnnnnn......

So the beginning of season 7 is going to be very chaotic and emotional for everyone as they all converge on Katolis. Especially when Runaan arrives.
Runaan's arrival in Katolis is going to be a complicated one, the humans won't trust him as he killed their last king but the Sunfire elves that arrive with Amaya and Janai are going to have a completely different view of him.
Let's start with the humans first.
HUMANS:
As mentioned above the humans of Katolis and Duren ( I'm assuming that Aanya will also travel to Katolis to help out) will not see his arrival as a positive, he killed their last king and thanks to Viren, Duren believes that a Moonshadow assassin came to kill their queen. And in the aftermath of Sol Regem's attack tensions and emotions will be running high.
Back at the beginning of season 5 Opeli wanted to arrest Rayla for breaking into Viren's lab and for taking Runaan's bowblade. The only reason she wasn't imprisoned was because Callum voucher for her and used his position as a prince to free her.
So I imagine that the chance of someone at least attempting to arrest and imprison Runaan will be high and it's going to take multiple people to prevent that from happening (more on that later).
And then we have Ezran. Something I want people to remember is that he doesn't know about Rayla's parents and Rayla and Callum's quest to free them. So he's not only going to be dealing with the destruction in Katolis but also the fact that Runaan is alive and there and his brother and friend didn't tell him about their plan to bring him back. This complete lack of communication, while not done out of malice is going to affect his relationship with Callum and Rayla during season 7. He's going to be understandably angry at seeing Runaan again and will be upset at the other 2 for not telling him about their plans.
Meanwhile he's going have to deal with seeing Runaan alive, the elf who killed his dad, wandering around free while Ezran is now an orphan. He's going to hate him but he's also going to see how much he means to Rayla and that he's Rayla's father. It's going to stir up so many complicated emotions in him and it's going to really test him in regards to how he deals with Runaan. He's justified in being angry with and hating Runaan but he's also Rayla's dad and so any action he takes against Runaan will impact her too. And if Callum (or anyone else) tries to defend Runaan and tries to form a relationship with him I can see Ezran feeling very isolated and alone. The real test for Ezran will be if he can make the right decision, a decision of love, not strength or anger or the easy choice. A choice that Harrow was once faced with almost 3 years ago. And we saw what he chose and what that led to.
Which leads me to my next hope. I hope that Runaan's presence in Xadia will force Ezran, Callum etc to re-examine the events of the beginning of the show. Because while it's understandable that Ezran will feel anger towards Runaan he isn't solely responsible for Harrow's death, Zubeia, Viren and Harrow all share responsibility for Harrow's death. I'd like and hope to see Ezran re-examine and unpack his feelings towards Zubeia and Harrow and realise that he's not only still upset and angry about that night but that he's also angry at his friend Zubeia and his father Harrow for the choices that they made.
Because like Harrow he hasn't healed and truly moved on from that fateful night and he'll need to in order to truly heal and ensure that he doesn't repeat the same mistakes that Harrow made.
This doesn't mean that he'll forgive Runaan by the end of the season or even stop being angry with him but I do think it will be an important step forward for Ezran in helping him heal and grow and would pave the way for Ezran forgiving Runaan one day in the future. To stop the coldness in his heart from taking control and leading him from the path of love.
ELVES
The Sunfire elves turning up in Katolis to help them in their time of need is also going to complicate things when Runaan turns up.
We learnt in Bloodmoon Huntress that Runaan is a legend, for his skills as an assassin but mostly for his heart. And so, unlike the humans I think that the Sunfire elves will see Runaan's arrival as a positive, especially if they, like the Moonshadow elves, believed him to be dead for the last 2 years. To them he isn't a monster, he's a hero, a living legend that some may be in awe of.
They won't allow such a legendary figure be arrested, which brings me to Janai and Amaya.
There's every chance that Janai actually knows Runaan and if she does and if their friends then this will further complicate things as she's going to want to help out and defend Runaan while also keeping the peace with her new nephew Ezran. Not to mention that Amaya may also have very complicated feelings about Runaan but as both a new queen of the Sunfire elves and Ezran's aunt she will have to navigate this situation very carefully.
I imagine that Runaan (and potentially Rayla) will probably stay with the Sunfire elves while they stay in Katolis, although I'm not sure how long our key characters will stay there before they decide or are convinced to move.

Any hopes I can hear why you hate runnan? Legitimately curious about it tbh
Sure!!! I think the Runaan-Ethari-Rayla family unit is horribly written and it's because the writers can't commit to a consistent theme with them. In the first few episodes we learn Runaan is Rayla's dad, but also her commander, and he has raised her with the Moonshadow assassin ideals engraved in her blood. She is nothing, she is no one, she is a vessel of justice and vengeance, she is going to kill an innocent child before the night is through and that is totally chill. However, she fails to kill her first target and he kicks her out of the team because she isn't displaying the mental fortitude expected of their tribe. Okay, we learn that he is not messing around, he isn't gonna indulge in soft parenting or an emotional connection, and we see a bit of his soft side in how he speaks to Rayla so we can assume he does care about her underneath all the sternness. He is her commander and she will listen, but he loves her. Of course, she is a teenage girl so she disobeys, and the next time they meet she is telling him that their mission is wrong and they should retreat because the humans are gonna help them fix the situation. His response is to try to kill her for betraying the mission. He doesn't give her a chance to explain herself, he doesn't stop and think, he just goes straight for killing her. So what we are supposed to read him as is a harsh, distant father figure who loves Rayla, but has his doubts with her fitting in with their society, and the moment she does something out of line with his expectations, he is willing to sacrifice her to keep the ideals of that society alive. It is a textbook toxic parental tragedy!! Wonderful!!! Except no. Not really. Somehow we get from this to Rayla being 100% chill with him as a parent and consoling him when they meet again. He feels really bad about the time he tried to kill her and that is enough for them to solve all their issues. Nothing about how Rayla sees herself as a failure because of the way he'd raised her, nothing about how she had to unlearn his toxic ideas about feelings and weakness. It is all magically solved.
This extends to Ethari as well. He cut Rayla off entirely because she survived a mission that killed his husband. Rayla is so thoroughly cut off from her family and her society that they are physically unable to percieve her - there are literal books written about the horror of such a punishment. Excuse me, but if your gut reaction to your child surviving an accident that killed your spouse is "Oh that little asshole betrayed him!!!" and you decide to put her through hell over it, then you have some serious issues. Which is FINE!! If we are telling a story about a family messed up by societal expectations, that is totally fine!!! But again we are not. Ethari is supposed to be sympathetic, he and Rayla part on a positive note and she accepts her punishment. This is mentioned once after but only in the context of making Rayla fall for Callum, and then it is never discussed properly. Rayla spends 2 years doing god knows what and when she returns she no longer has bad feelings about any of this.
What I am saying is: Runaan and Ethari are absolutely horrible people and the worst of fathers, but the story treats them as regular dads who just have some small issues their daughter can get over instantly. They are supposed to be complicated, but also inoffensively adorable, so they get the worst of both worlds. I am a big fan of problematic, toxic families where everyone still loves each other, but you gotta have a coherent arc and a complete theme in mind while writing them. Rayla should have brought her bio parents back bc they are the only people in the world who could understand how she feels, having been cursed the same way themselves.
#eernask#eernanon#eernask talk tdp#tdp spoilers#tdp dunking#this show in general has trouble committing to writing truly flawed characters if they aren't villains#they either get instantly forgiven for their bad choices#or they are treated as the worst people ever for doing nothing that's really truly wrong (see how callum is treated)#like just write a character who does a bad thing guys. it is so easy. just do it.

Halloween headcanon:
During Rayla's first Halloween with Runaan and Ethari, Runaan is afraid. Raising a child isn't like any other mission he's done--quite the opposite, in fact. His job has always been to take lives, and now his job is to nurture one.
What if Rayla injures herself while carving pumpkins? What if he loses her during the festivities? What if she gets sick from the sweet treats?
Ethari is just as inexperienced as Runaan, but he's a bit calmer because kids come into his forge sometimes. He validates Runaan's fears.
"It's normal to worry about those you care for."
"Kids get injured sometimes, that's a part of growing up."
"You have such a caring heart, you're going to be great with Rayla."
Runaan takes a deep breath. "We can handle whatever tonight throws at us."
They hold hands, they kiss, they go find Rayla in the kitchen where the pumpkin carving stuff is set up.
Runaan's new mission is to stab pumpkins and slay the parenting thing.
Runaan and Rayla carve pumpkins while Ethari makes pumpkin seeds. Runaan hates the texture of pumpkin guts, so Ethari is the one who makes pumpkin seeds every year.
Runaan carves a moonstrider. Rayla carves a grumpy Runaan. Ethari teases Runaan about it being a perfect likeness.
They clean up the table, set the pumpkins outside, and make tea.
They sit outside drinking tea and eating roasted pumpkin seeds.

Bloodmoon Huntress + Duty
Runaan and Ethari told me something that helped me understand… well, a lot of things, really. They said that, sometimes, we make sacrifices so that the ones we love don’t have to. It’s part of protecting them—part of protecting you. Taking on hard choices and going to dark places is an act of love.

Who Ezran Blames
Why isn't Runaan getting a free pass when Zubeia did? Is it because Ez is being (understandably) irrational? Has he been stubbornly refusing to face the fact that Runaan wouldn't have killed Harrow if Zubeia hadn't ordered him to? Probably. I would even say most certainly. I hope that Runaan points this out to Ez and forces him to face it. But I do think there's more to say.
See there are two big differences between Arc 1 Zubeia and Arc 1 Runaan (I say Arc 1, because we don't know if and how Runaan will change).
First difference, Zubeia is grieving, Runaan is just on a mission. She is likely acting on blind rage and he is looking at the situation with a clear head and still says 'yep, gonna kill this child for a crime he didn't commit'. Which leads us to the second difference
Zubeia, like Amaya and Rayla, sees evidence contrary to her beliefs and reevaluates; Runaan, like Viren and Karim, sees the same evidence and continues stubbornly. When Zubeia learns her son is alive, it doesn't matter that humans are in Xadia and the boy she put a hit on is alive. She' changes her tune and is happy that humans and elves are working together. Runaan sees the dragon egg and was still willing to fight through his own daughter to finish his mission. He may regret that now, but it might be too little too late.
Would Ez forgive Runaan if he hadn't been coined and showed remorse? Honestly, probably not. It's easier to blame the assassin who's out of sight rather than blame his baby brother's mom. Bonus, he's had two years of getting to know Zubeia, and Runaan is still a mystery.
But it is something to think about.

Some predictions for S7
It seems some people are concerned about Rayla and Callum being separated for half the season when I honestly don't think that will be the case. They have never been separated more than two episodes, you could say "well it could happen now!" but I doubt they would do that in the same season we will fully see them together for the first time.
Now some proof or my own guesses to favour this:
In this screenshot Rayla isn't with Callum, she could be out of frame but I don't think so.
I'm guessing he went ahead since maybe Rayla's wings weren't working anymore (they said they didnt't last forever if I remember correctly)
Look how sad he looks, he has no gf to cheer him up over Katolis' destruction.
Now, we see Rayla and Ronaldo standing up in front of the Banterlodge, why are they here? I think Callum told them to meet there since it's a place both him and Rayla know.
Why is she in attack mode?
Looking at the trees it seems Ezran, Aanya and the animals seem to be around the banterlodge. Maybe Rayla sees the katolians coming or Ezran asking Corvus and Soren to arrest Raul and she gets defensive ofc, tho it doesn't seem to be an overly agressive stance.
We have confirmation that Callum and Ezran will have a conflict and Ezran is gonna be mad about Runaan, so maybe Callum defends Runaan here and confesses that he is the one who fred him, making the brothers fight. An upset Callum then leaves with Rancher and Rayla.
My guesses are, Callum and Rayla separate in episode 1 and reunite in late episode 2 or early episode 3 (they tend to "meet" in the second episode lol) maybe ep 2 ends with them meeting and the cliffhanger of Ezran finding out about Ronald.
Callum, Rayla and Richard arrive at the Silvergroove (perhaps is on episode 3 to parallel season 3) we get the Ruthari reunion and Rayla's trial in the same episode, a confirmed to be a very emotional episode.
The place Rayla is having her trial on seems to be the lottus pond thing, we only see her, The Keeper (I didn't know moonshadows could have beards okay dude) and the ghosts of the deceased assassins. I'm guessing she will have to be forgiven by them to be accepted back on The Silvergroove and she will need a lot of emotional support, I don't see why Callum wouldn't be there since he was there when she found out about her ghosting so he being there when she gets unghosted makes all the sense.
Callum, Stella and the other ones are out of frame probably watching this, unless this is another place where they aren't allowed.
I wouldn't be suprised if Rayla doesn't want to go with the trial at all but we get a little callback to this with Callum saying something similar, maybe even more agressive this time.
Now onto the next clue, this oopsie leaked scene by the animation company:
Stella jugglinga adoraburrs! look how cute!
I'm fully convinced this is a rayllum scene, it screams romance with the flowers and singing baitlings "oh it could be ruthari!" yeah? maybe? but let's look at the clues shall we:
Stella is there, Stella is always with Rayla
Callum and Rayla love adoraburrs
Sneezles is there, Sneezles is always with Callum
There are two lovebirds and Rayllum tends to attract animals (very disney princess/prince if you ask me)
The baitlings are singing, screams Rayllum corniness (kiss the girl!)
Rayla and Callum have something going on with boats
Maybe Callum and Rayla decided to take the rest of the baitlings with them to the Silvergroove (for some reason)
Maybe this scene isn't before the mid season at all and it's at the end! but for now I choose to believe it's kind of the calm before the storm scene. Maybe Rayla and Callum are celebrating her unghosting, before Aaravos starts fcking shit up and they have to leave and go back to Ezran. I don't think this will happen in the way to The Silvergroove because 1) third wheeling Runaan would be uncomfortable and I don't think Callum would prepare this at all in the way unless he wanted to annoy him hard idk 2) Rayla and Callum didn't need to cross water to arrive at TS the first time.
I'm choosing also not to believe this is at the end because them leaving The Silvergroove mid season for them to come back at the end wouldn't make much sense to me unless they are getting married right in this scene mostly because I don't think Rayla and Callum will choose to live in there, at least for now, and this will be the end of the arc not the series so yeah, they could be visiting tho and this could be a chilling ending scene.
In a summary, I don't think rayllum will be separated for a lot of episodes and Callum is totally going to The Shitlvergroove maybe they will get separated again when she gets kidnapped
listen you can't separate them for much unless it's against their will
