I think the risk of calling something a fringe position (particularly when you hold the moderate version of that position) is that. Alright. Is it "fringe" because it's somehow completely disconnected from the rest of the ideology and worldview, or is it "fringe" due to being the logical extreme you arrive at from being unusually scrupulous about applying the underlying logic driving the moderate version.

At which point the two groups willing to express that fringe position are A.) people so alienated from the mainstream to begin with that they don't really have anything to lose by saying the quiet part out loud or B.) People too scrupulous and/or socially oblivious to realize that many of their fellow travelers are just using extreme positions- or even the moderate positions- as a signaling thing rather than meaning it literally

I think I have some wires loose. I don't mean that like the metaphorical "they've got a few loose screw in their head" sort of way, I mean it more literally.

Like, if doctors opened up my head they'd find there's a couple PCBs on there and some of the wires from one to the other are disconnected. They just need to plug them in and then more parts of me would work.

I'd be like "oh that's why I never could feel this way or enjoy that... Something was unplugged!"

The World needs to be kinder to interesting people, by interesting people I mean both:

A) People who fall well beyond the standard deviation of personality, appearance, taste, mannerism, etc

And

B) People who follow their interests before anything else.

Both groups are mocked, derided, and marginalized for how they live their lives. The modern world has little patience for those who will not be standardized in the mode or motivation of their life. Only if the stars align in favor of commercial success are they allowed to live, and even then, they will not escape an accursed choir of insufferable conformists.

What a grey joyless world we make by forcing out the variety of human experience in favor of our own comfort.

Thinking about how now, that I decided to rewatch the cartoons that made my childhood I notice a lot of stuff that I've never seen before

Like little me didn't care about why the character did certain decisions only that that decision helped the bad guy

But like, now I get the emotional complexities of certain situations better and can understand the weight a situation actually holds

It really feels weird to watch something for the first time while being younger than the main characters, and now revisiting the same work but being older than them
