Tumblr media Tumblr media
welcome to my blog, it is terrible! this is a very detailed about me which is too long to pin because i talk too much x
Tumblr media Tumblr media
general
i'm a minor so don't be weird. i use he/they/she pronouns. my gender can be likened to the properties of gallium. don't ask because i'm not sure either. also bisexual as fuck! born and raised welsh raaahhh but my parents are bangladeshi so i have that going for me!
Tumblr media
motorsports
formula one
just to preface, i don't currently hate any driver on the grid right now but not the biggest fan of pierre gasly and nico hulkenberg and on the fence about charles leclerc (you won't see hate though, don't worry). my current drivers are: max verstappen, lewis hamilton, daniel ricciardo, oscar piastri, fernando alonso, valtteri bottas and kevin magnussen. teams are a little more complicated but i basically root for alphatauri, alfa romeo and red bull racing. in terms of ex-f1 drivers/retirees i love jenson button, sebastian vettel, antonio giovinazzi, and nyck de vries.
nascar
its funny how the world works because if you'd have told me last year i'd be a full nascar blog i'd probably laugh in your face but alas, here we are. as if it wasn't obvious enough, my favourite driver is ryan blaney! i like him. a lot. i also root for chase elliott, bubba wallace, brad keselowski, austin cindric, john hunter nemechek, martin truex jr., joey logano and chris buescher, but ignoring kyle larson and noah gragson, i'm okay with most of the drivers. in a (parasocial) love-hate relationship with denny hamlin. of course i'm a hardcore team penske fan but i'm also partial to rfk and 23xi on occasion. huge on jimmie johnson, dale earnhardt jr., kevin harvick, jeff gordon, and kasey kahne too but of course they aren't on the grid.
indycar
my favourite unserious single seater racing series! its an absolute miracle that i hold no disdain against any of the drivers (bar romain grosjean—its a tad complicated. and also goes without saying. fuck santino ferrucci) of course like i said. i'm a penske boy through and through, but i'm partial to a bit of rll on occasion. josef newgarden, will power and scott mclaughlin are my main guys but i'm also attached to alex rossi, graham rahal, kyle kirkwood, scott dixon, pato o'ward and christian lundgaard like a leech. gargantuan enjoyer of dario franchitti, helio castroneves and simon pagenaud too.
motogp
i don't watch it as much as i'd like to but i do plan on doing so going into the next season. am very basic so fabio quartararo, marco bezzecchi, marc marquez and enea bastianini are my riders. partial to a bit of luca marini and pecco bagnaia too. also i'm literally valentino rossi in real life so like. you can't say shit x
Tumblr media
other sports
plan on expanding this list this year possibly but i'm not sure. we'll see!
football
am a liverpool girlie (gn) through and through so thats who you'll see most of, but i will admit i do follow nottm forest and watch a couple games here and there (as a guilty pleasure okay?! they are fun to watch). i've also managed to become extremely attached to a couple players from both teams. said players being mo salah, andy robertson, darwin nunez, dominik szoboszlai, alisson becker, neco williams, jesse lingard, brennan johnson. also being welsh, i support the welsh national team until they're booted from the competition in which case i'll support the netherlands. england is my last resort x
Tumblr media
miscellaneous
am a very random blog so don't except any consistency in anything whatsoever. i also reblog a lot of animal content and expect chicken content! i have 6 hens all of which i love very much. and just in general! expect a lot of random things on this blog! i am a very all-over-the-place person!
cars
come and talk to me about road cars i beg i love talking about them so much it's the reason i got into motorsports in the first place. don't be surprised if i come into your inbox and ask about your fave road cars
tv shows
not the biggest tv show watcher if i'm being honest, had a brief moment with criminal minds but i only got up to season 5. lord knows when i'll pick it up again. huge top gear fan but unfortunately i have beef with jeremy clarkson so i like flop gear. am also currently watching it's always sunny in philadelphia so we'll see where that leads me. also i have yet to watch a full episode of drive to survive. STREAM NASCAR: full speed ON NETFLIX NOW
movies
again, not the biggest movie watcher but obviously am huge on cars and turbo. also big on talladega nights and then my personal favourite film of all time is brokeback mountain so expect an occasional ennis del mar or jack twist on your dash every now and again.
music
am a big oasis enjoyer and gang of youths superfan (0.001% top listener in 2023 💪💪) as well as huge on sam fender and uhh. central cee. also an abel tesfaye girlie i won't lie. um also lord huron and noah kahan and hozier. but my aforementioned nascar hyperfixation has led me into the beautiful world of country. if you dunk on it fuck you and god bless tyler childers
my art/gifs
i draw and gif things once every millennia believe it or not! i don't tag them so keep an eye out for those lol.
Tumblr media
blogkeeping
urls
previously i've been gigglejuice27, gaygglejuice27, horsey-mchorse, kmag-pole and sunshine-5eb. i return to them on occasion.
tagging
i don't tag for shit but if you need something tagged just shoot a message or an ask and we'll get it sorted asap.
do not interact
gasly superfans, max antis and jos verstappen apologists and larson/gragson enjoyers this probably isn't the blog for you.
if you are a racist, homophobe, terf, islamophobe or a zionist. you will be getting blocked instantly x

Moodboard for @glittercrashhh :
Evaline is a Hebrew name of Norman origin which means "life" or "animal". It is a variation of the names "Eva" and "Evelyn".
As seen from the header itself, she is a chaotic person who is loved by everyone. Having a large family and being a member of an almost large number of cults, I'm surprised how she's not overwhelmed by it yet.
Vibes from the blog: chaotic, supportive.
Book recommendation: Emma by Jane Austen, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Shadow and Bone series by Leigh Bardugo. Also The Night Circus
Custom playlist: City of Stars by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, Perfect by Ed Sheeran, Photograph by Ed Sheeran, Closer by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey and Love is an open door by Kristen Bell and Santino Fontana.

Hi! I’ve never taken part before, but I would be very interested in doing so this round. I would prefer to take part in sfw prompts
(Edited this for a few grammatical errors and to clarify my responses a bit better)
Response from mod @i-want-my-iwtv: Excellent! Yep, we’re thinking of keeping this SFW, and perhaps starting up a separate kin/kmeme.
This ask was re: a possible 2020 VC Secret Spring/Summer Santa, which got a surprising amount of support!
Tumblr media
…so we’re working on it behind the scenes, hopefully will have a setup and signups deadline soon! Responses to the tags/comments on that post below.
Just looking at that gif above, SUCH SIMPLER TIMES. I miss the days when our biggest fandom arguments were so fictionally indulgent and inconsequential, like Louis’ hair length and texture SIIIIIGH THOSE.WERE.THE.DAYS.
——
@orangedarcy: Can I ask just a general question about fic posting in the VC fandom?  I know most fic is now posted on AO3, but is there another more community driven place like LiveJournal used to be? I have fallen so far behind on the fic world, where does one post stories these days? Is it all here on Tumblr or is it mainly AO3 now?
Very good question. AO3 is the main place for just fic, some comment threads there, and ppl sometimes posted drabbles here on tumblr, and there are roleplayers here who do threads that are like collaborative fics… you can check my #RP tag to try to find them, but I admit I am out of date myself having taken a big step back from tumblr to focus on real life.
There were LJ-esque places on Dreamwidth long before Tumblr, and I believe they’re all abandoned except for VC-Media where I’m a mod. You can find it through @vcmedia, ppl do post fic there, mods post drabble prompts weekly, and there have been some wonderfully lively times!
I had started the VC-Media tumblr blog a few yrs ago when we (the mods) wanted to try directing some traffic to the DW comm, to bring in some fresh blood (pun intended), but I hadn’t promoted it much bc I didn’t want the tumblr anti-shippers and/or trolls flooding it and trampling ppl. At that time, I had seen the antis in other fandoms choosing targets to bully on tumblr and twitter, using social justice window-dressing that was really only about them wanting attention. In our fandom, I’d seen similar bad-faith arguments over problematic characters/ships and I didn’t want to engage with it or invite it to a comm setting, bc that’s not what fandom is about for me.
Not to go on a rant here but I need to say it: Criticism is going to happen, and everyone has a right to criticize media. What was lost for a few years there is the concept that no one owes you their time or engagement in a conversation, especially not one in which one side demands complete submission from the other, and nothing less. Whether or not the criticism is the “One True Interpretation,” no one owes you their time or engagement.
That’s still a concern of mine, but I am confident that my wonderful co-mods of VC-Media are ready to freeze comments and ban ppl who attempt to bully others or provoke arguments in bad faith.
There are a few other obscure places, but I don’t like to promote them publicly, bc they have little traffic, or are older, or I’d rather that AR not be aware just in case she changes her stance on fanfic (she had waged war on it in the 90s).
So that was a long answer but AO3 is probably the best if all you want is just finding fic to read, but please check out VC-Media to post your fic and have a lively discussion, it’s still thirsty for fresh blood!
@the-disgruntled-vc: I would like to participate but I don’t know what I have to do.
We’re not sure what the setup will be yet, but we appreciate your enthusiasm! We’ll post about it when we’ve decided and then you can choose to participate.
@the-disgruntled-vc: NYC is hell in a handbasket right now. 😰
I knowwww. I left NYC on 3/17, with 2 pairs of pants and 2 tops. I’m with my parents about 5 hours away. Wearing my dad’s clothes now :,-} Strange times.
@annabellioncourt: I’m not sure I want to commit to a direct gift exchange, but if it was done as an inktober style prompt filling thing, and we could just tag it/submit it as we did it, then maybe? I’m not sure what kind of free time I’ll have in the upcoming months as I job hunt.
Totally understandable, and I like your suggestions! We want to be able to accommodate ppl in your situation, so this is a good thing for us to keep in mind. Good luck in the job hunt! If running an awesome tumblr blog was a job, you’d be all set ;D
@amelthebravennian: //I would truthfully enjoy doing it!
We would love to have you back!
requiemforrose: Count me in. I need something to help my anxiety over the current climate
YES THATS EXACTLY THE POINT ^________^
@lestatthebiprince: Sign me up for the gift exchange!!
YASSSSS (let’s hope you still want to if we change the format ;D )
@pour-some-aspartame-on-me: I would be interested in participating in the vc secret gifts
Awesome! Would love to have you!
@desanctii: //I’d be in favor. this time around I even have the time to participate ;)
We need you for those Santino prompts!
@amadeo-child-of-the-renaissance: //Count me in for the kink (obvs) XD
We love to see enthusiasm for the kin/kmeme… And your art is just *chef’s kiss*
@good-night-kick‘s tags: #great idea :3#It would be a good chance for me to get an excuse to draw art properly… I haven’t been drawing so much recently
Yes! We love your art and your comics and we need more of it, how can a person be so talented and so hilarious in their artwork, too?? Did you make a deal with the devil? (Sign me up.)

"JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM" (2019) Review
Tumblr media
"JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM" (2019) Review I have seen all three films in the "JOHN WICK" franchise so far. All three of them. However, "JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM" is the first film I saw in the movie theaters. And it is the first I have reviewed for my blog.
"JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM" picked up a few minutes later after the franchise's last film, "JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2"left off. In the latter, former assassin John Wick had been approached by Italian crime lord Santino D'Antonio to assassinate his sister Gianna, so he can claim her seat at the "High Table", a council of 12 high-level crime lords. Although reluctant to complete the task, John is forced to accept D'Antonio's request since the latter had helped him with a task that allowed him to retire as an assassin and marry his late wife. However, Gianna committed suicide before John could kill her and D'Antonio put a contract on the former under the guise of "avenging his sister's death". Determined to get revenge for this betrayal, John pursued D'Antonio to the Continental Hotel, a refuge for the underworld's assassins where no "business" is allowed, and kills the Italian gangster. Because he had broken the hotel's "no killing" rule, John is declared "excommunicado" by his handlers at the High Table and placed under a $14 million bounty. In this third film, John struggles to evade nearly every assassin, while he tries to retrieve a crucifix necklace and a "marker" medallion from a secret cache in a book at the New York City Public Library. He needs both items to present to the Director, a woman from his past, and use as a "ticket" for safe passage to Casablanca, Morocco. With the help of an old friend and fellow assassin named Sofia, John hopes to fend off other assassins long enough to reach the Elder of the "High Table" and find a way to call off the bounty. However, John eventually learns that he will have to pay a few steep prices to achieve his goal. I wish I could say that I loved "JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM". Hell, I wish I could say that I loved all of the John Wick movies. But I did not. I merely liked them. What kept me from loving these three films? The level of action featured in them."JOHN WICK 3" opened with the main protagonist leaving the Continental Hotel and making his way to the main New York Public Library in order to retrieve two objects that would help him leave the country. I do not know how long this sequence lasted, but it almost seemed like forever. Wick seemed to encounter one assassin after the other, city block after city block. Even when he reached the library, he had to fight off another assassin. Then he was forced to defend himself against more assassins as he struggled to reach the Director, a Russian-born who had raised him. There was such an overwhelming slew of action in this film that I was to appreciate the more dramatic moments with great relief. When I had asked one of my relatives on how she felt about the movie, her response was . . . "action porn". She liked the movie, but like me, found the amount of action in it rather overwhelming. I honestly cannot think of anything else that turned me off about "JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM". Ironically, as much as I found the onslaught of action a bit off putting, there were a handful of scenes that I genuinely enjoyed, thanks to Chad Stahelski's direction. There were three sequences that stood out for me. One involved Wick's unexpected encounter with a rather large assassin inside the New York Library. His final fight against a New York City assassin named Zero and the latter's men at the New York Continental Hotel almost struck me as surreal. But if I had to select my favorite action sequence, it has to be his battle against a group of assassins in Casablanca, with the aide of his old friend, Sofia. Watching Keanu Reeves and Halle Barry fight side by side against a slew of killers proved to be more than satisfying for me. And exciting. I also suspect that this deluge of action had allowed the film's five screenwriters to create a more streamlined narrative. Five screenwriters? This movie required five screenwriters? Anyway, one of the aspects of the John Wick films that I found refreshing is that the narratives for the three films were not repetitive. "JOHN WICK 3" marked the first time that the hero is forced to face the consequences of his actions. There is a reason why once or twice, a self-reflective Wick had to admit that he had brought his current crisis upon himself. More importantly, he also realized that his decision to become a professional assassin and criminal in the first place had brought him to this point in his life. In age in which the questionable decisions and actions of many protagonists in movies and television are either swept under the table or whitewashed, John Wick's self-reflection struck me as a breath of fresh air. "JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM" featured some solid performances from its supporting cast. The likes of Lance Reddick, Anjelica Huston, Jerome Flynn, Randall Duk Kim and Yayan Ruhian did not exactly blow my mind, but I found their performances impressive. Saïd Taghmaoui gave a brief, yet impressive performance as the Elder, leader of the High Table; whom John Wick struggles to reach to overturn the contract against him. Asia Kate Dillon was memorable as the Adjudicator, a member of the High Table who castigated both Winston and the Bowery King for helping Wick in the previous film. However, I thought her character seemed like a remake of the character she portrays on Showtime's "BILLIONS". Ian McShane was elegant and charismatic as ever as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel, who found himself in trouble for giving Wick a head start on the contract in the second film. Laurence Fishburne was equally charismatic as the New York crime lord known as the Bowery King. But unlike McShane, I also found his performance rather theatrical in an entertaining way.  Another colorful performance came from Mark Dacascos, who portrayed Zero, a Japanese assassin based in New York City, who is recruited by the Adjudicator to kill Wick or anyone else whom the High Table wanted dead.  Berry radiated charismatic, style and gravitas as an old friend of Wick named Sofia, who helps him reach the Elder. I really enjoyed both her dramatic and action scenes with the leading man. Speaking of the latter, Keanu Reeves was perfect, as usual as the ex-assassin John Wick. I think I enjoyed his performance in this film a bit more, due to the pathos he infused in scenes that featured Wick's self reflections about his profession and past. In a nutshell, I would never regard "JOHN WICK: CHAPER 3 - PARABELLUM" as among the best action movies I have seen. Like the other movies in the JOHN WICK franchise, I thought it was over saturated with too many action sequences. But . . . the movie did feature a solid and well-written narrative that picked up from where the second movie in the franchise left off. More importantly, I was impressed that for once, the main protagonist was paying the consequences of his past actions. In the end, I thought director Chad Stahelski had delivered a solid and entertaining film with a talented cast led by Keanu Reeves.

crazy ex girlfriend finale thoughts
So I’ve been thinking about this since last week and with the finale this week, I just felt like writing out my thoughts on why I don’t really love the way the final few episodes have played out, culminating in this love quad-angle for Rebecca. As much as I’d love for her to end up with Nathaniel or Josh (Greg is just not a viable option and I’ll get to that), I hope that it ends with her choosing no one for now, but the future is open for possibilities.
(No spoilers below, just speculation and frustration at the situation.)
Okay, so my main issue is that they’ve framed Greg as, not only a viable option, but like it feels like they’re trying to push him as the option for Rebecca. And like, I don’t like that and don’t really see it. Now part of this might be because the recast (Skylar) just isn’t good in this role. He can’t pull off the sarcastic asshole like Santino could because Santino brought a depth and slightly unwanted care and concern for the people around him, though he tried to hide it at times. Skylar’s Greg (and it might be a writing thing) just always feels a bit smarmy and just a dick.
That aside, Rebecca and Greg sort of only worked years ago because they weren’t really invested in each other at the same time. Not only that, Greg never really liked the parts of Rebecca that are sort of fundamentally her. And yes, she was slightly manic and obsessive at the time because of her mental health, but I still never really got the feeling that they even really knew each other that well. That’s okay because they weren’t really supposed to be anything more. We wanted to root for Greg since Rebecca was, as she put it “the villain” in the story of Josh—at that time anyway. But then when she does actually choose Greg, he can’t quite let go of the fact that Rebecca had been into Josh—even though he knew that going into it. He literally says in the first episode that her not being available/into him is his type.
But they were cute while they lasted though they were rightly called a shit show.
Now, he’s back and it’s just highlighting to me how much they’re not meant to be together, but the show doesn’t seem to be commenting on that. Yes, Greg’s been away and off screen “changing” and “growing” but he hasn’t really. Yes, he’s overcome his alcohol addiction, which is nothing to scoff at, but he’s still the same grouchy and mostly mean person he was, just without the layers of actually caring about friends. He didn’t even try and talk to Josh, who was his so-called best friend, when he came back. And yes, we could argue that it would be awkward, but if Valencia can help plan Josh and Rebecca’s ill-fated wedding, Greg can get over himself to actually take the time to have an honest conversation with his friend to either have closure or move passed things. (And yes, I know that not everyone needs to have closure, but this instance it was needed.)
The show is basically just telling us how different Greg is but like… I don’t really see it, except for the negative. They chose to have Rebecca and Greg start again, which is fine, but it let Greg of the hook from having an honest discussion about his feelings and everything that went on in their past. It’s just hard for me to look past that because we saw Rebecca having to confront her past actions and the consequences of them, and we saw both Nathaniel and Josh doing the same thing. But Greg’s never had to and, for me, it makes it hard to root for him.
Which brings me to last week’s episode where they acted like Greg’s declaration pushed him way out ahead of the other guys but like… why? The other two have been open and honest about their feelings with Rebecca for a while—Nathaniel especially has been fluctuating between pining and trying to get over her for like a season now. I don’t feel like it’s fair that Greg’s giving an A+ for sort of doing the bare minimum? Also, he put zero effort into their date which brings me to main complaint about the Greg x Rebecca dynamic: he doesn’t give a shit about anything that she likes or thinks is important and that’s, not only his defining character trait, but he acts like it’s charming and should be celebrated. The other two guys took the time to create a night for Rebecca that was special because they knew what was important to her and what she cared about; Greg was just going with a hot air balloon—after originally not planning on doing anything—because why not? I mean, remember the Raging Waters incident? Being in a relationship should mean that you actually want to do stuff with your partner, especially when it’s something really important to them.
Greg doesn’t even seem to understand the importance Rebecca’s relationships and friendships are to her. He literally only makes an effort with Paula because Hector suggests that he should cause Paula might put in a good word for him. He’s literally only trying to get in Paula’s good graces to win at the end of this. Both Nathaniel and Josh sort of became friends or friends-adjacent to Rebecca’s crew because of circumstances, trying to become better or more mature people, or because they genuinely didn’t want to be on bad terms with them. Greg’s thoughts don’t add up here. (If there was another season, this might not be as big of a deal.)
I get that this is turning into a Greg hate-fest, but it’s my blog so whatever. (But I get if you don’t want to read this anymore. No hard feelings.)
I just feel like the show is telling us, practically screaming at us that Greg’s the choice for Rebecca but there’s no evidence to really back that up. We’ve seen Rebecca, Josh, and Nathaniel all grow and mature as people, facing their past mistakes, and also wanting to be better for each other and the people in their lives. Greg just doesn’t have that. They loved Rebecca through it all and are still now supporting her. And perhaps that’s not fair because Greg was away at business school, but I just don’t feel like he gets Rebecca at the end of the day. When they broke up a few episodes ago, it felt right and like they’d reached their natural conclusion of just two people being incompatible, and then this episode, they brought it right back and it just doesn’t make sense to me compared to Josh and Nathaniel.
Again, I’ll say that I’m hopeful that the show doesn’t necessarily end with a final, clear-cut decision because there’s bound to be some disappointment and I think it’d be more keeping with the vein of the show that it’s Rebecca’s story and sort of leaving her future open and hopeful would be amazing. (But like I also won’t be made if she ends up with Josh, Nathaniel, or a combination of them.)

Hi.
I’m finally back after what, a year-long hiatus? Never intended for that to happen but there you go. Life up and down but I’m doing fine blah blah. That’s not what I’m here to post about.
I was just getting back into the icos fandom. I can’t say I ever really left it because I’ve been ghosting the tag ever so often, as well as anything new Ais and Santino post. I was actually just about to go on a reblog frenzy because I’m now really getting back into icos and I’ve been scrolling through several blogs and all the edits/discussions/etc are reawakening that thrill like nothing else.
And then this.
Listen. I read Ais’ post. I read Santino’s post. I’m still not entirely clear on what the heck’s going on and I’ll probably never have all the information for it. But I’ve been reading a lot and from what I DO understand, I’m going to make something very clear because apparently taking a stance is something people are pushed to do and if you want to cut off all ties from me after this, I can’t stop you. But just to go on the record:
I do. not. hate. Santino.
He and Ais created what is probably the best series I’ve ever read. It helped me, in more ways than I will ever reveal and I can never thank them enough for that. If he doesn’t continue 180, I will be heartbroken. If he and Ais discontinue icos, I will be heartbroken. I understand that this is stressful for Ais and confusing and I’m not pressuring her towards any which direction, because this is her life with one of her friends and absolutely none of my business.
Because I don’t believe everything the haters are saying. When dealing with facts online, I’ve learned it’s nearly impossible to fully fish out what’s true and not true. But one thing I’ve learned as an iron-clad fact is that we live in a society neck-deep in online community and interaction, a society who’s values are based on “guilty until proven innocent”. I’m not just saying that because of what’s going on now. You see it everywhere and it’s disgusting. That’s one reason why you never see anything IRL-related on my blog. It’s one reason why every social media I have is entirely 100% anonymous.
Finding out about this has not ruined icos for me. If it has, it’s only in the sense of the now very real fear that anything with ICoS is officially ended. And that is downright devastating to me.
So @thatdudesantino if you’re reading this, know that you still have a supporter in me. Both you and @ais-n do. I don’t know either of you personally, and I guess that’s part of my point too. I don’t know any of the secrets in the closet of anyone in this fandom, and I certainly don’t believe any one person in this fandom is a perfectly decent human being. I know I’m not. Yes, it’s disappointing to hear about something like this but it’s not like I put him or anyone else on a pedestal. I only knew him by the name Santino and the very few facts he revealed about himself. And I didn’t care about anything else. I still don’t care to be honest.
Frankly, I just glad that he’s alive. I’m not kidding. We haven’t heard from him in  so long then suddenly I start hearing that something bad happened with Santino and Ais certainly wasn’t happy, I legitimately feared that he was dead. So maybe what happened seems less severe to me in light of that relief he isn’t, I don’t know. That, or that he disappeared off the face of the earth. Which still might happen now, but I hope it doesn’t. Because I want to continue reading his work. Again, I still don’t fully understand what’s going on so that may be blindsiding me, but despite his mistakes, his wrongdoings, whether they’re forgivable or not, he is still an amazingly talented writer and I love his writing. Because again, haters make me roll my eyes more often than not. I just can’t believe everything they say, maybe because I stopped believing it so long ago. All this has really done is remind me of the disgust I have for the online world and put me in a bad mood.
I don’t know Santino, no less than how I don’t know Ais. I don’t know what all happened in the past, what he did, what he went through or is dealing with right now. I don’t know what’s all true and what’s not and frankly I don’t give a shit. I love icos, I’m absolutely in love with the world and characters they created. And if Santino’s a shit human being who wrote the series, then he did a good job writing it as a shit human being. I do have more to say about this and what Santino said, but this post would be too long.
@lomaschingon I did get your message and thanks for checking in even though it’s been months. If there’s anyone left in this fandom who hasn’t jumped ship, I would love to continue loving this series with you. If there is no one left if this fandom, I guess that means one final log off and a long cry.

OMG I saw your post about reedit shadowbanning you and just…OMG you are the administrator (or whatever it is called) of the B-Boots group? I encountered it few days ago and was amazed how the administrator uploaded that many boots to support the group. Why is reedit doing this? Anyway just want to say that you've done an amazing job.(´;ω;‘)
Hi!  lol yeah
I have no idea why I got shadowbanned, supposedly it was just because i was running a sub that concerns something “illegal” but not I’m not entirely sure
Right now I’m just waiting for a reply from the admins so I could mod the sub because there’s some new bootlegs from others that need approval (the new DEH boot and Cinderella with Laura and Santino for example) and some general guidelines i needed to update and either look for new moderators or hand it over to my alt account
And thank you so much! Hopefully I could get the community back up again, if not I do have a list somewhere here on my blog and I freely gift to anyone who asks lol :3

For the anon who asked: Can u have a oneshot were The reader is helens sister meaning john is like a really protective bro and they go meet up with Antonio for something and he starts flirting with the reader cause he needs a girlfriend Honestly and johns like fuck off boi and right before Antonio leaves he gives the reader a kiss and his number
Author’s Note: For some reason this was difficult to write and i hope i delivered. However thank you for stressing me out because it makes me a better writer.
Warnings: Big bro John and pushy Santino?
SORRY I POSTED IT TO MY MAIN BLOG. SORRY, SORRY, SORRY!!!
Into the Dragon’s Den
“I’m coming with you whether you like it or not,” I stated.
John looked at me, a pained expression on his face “, I just lost your sister and you’re all I have left of her. I can’t let anything happen to you.”
I grasped his hands “, and you’re all I have left of her. I’m not letting you go in that dragon’s den without some support,” I argued.
His shoulders caved and slumped. I pulled him towards me and hugged his trembling form “, you’re retired Jonathon and they need to know that.”
I released him and looked in his dark almond eyes, they looked so weary.
“Come on, let’s go tell that bastard you’re not going,” I whispered.
John nodded, straightened and grabbed the car keys from the table.
We arrived at a hotel – Monte Carlo read the calligraphic writing above the entrance. The massive building seemed to loom over its surroundings. Its Gothic architecture and white stone walls seemed reminiscent of a time long gone by. Gargoyles were perched on every corner and pinnacle of the building, a silent menacing guardian.
We walked up the steps in single file. John had specifically told me earlier to stay behind him at all times in case of any emergency – by emergency he meant if someone tried to kill him. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous and nervous still seemed too small a word for what I felt. Tiny tremors wracked my bones and had my heart pumping a few beats above normal.
John walked up to the counter. A woman in a black and white uniform turned to him.
“Good afternoon sir, how may I be of assistance?” she greeted with a screwed-on smile. Her eyes slid to me as I stood beside John.
“A room for two perhaps?” she inquired.
“No,” John said politely “, tell Santino D’Antonio that John Wick is here to see him.”
The woman froze for a split second, the smile she wore faltering as her eyes widened a fraction. Politely she coughed to hide her reaction and picked up the phone.
Quietly she spoke into the phone “, a Mr. John Wick to see Signore D’Antonio.”
She paused listening, she glanced at John and smiled.
“Yes. Yes. Yes sir – right away.” She hung up the phone and turned to us, the same fake smile in place again.
“Mr. D’Antonio, will see you now Mr. Wick,” she informed “, if you would please follow me.”
She stepped from behind the counter and motioned John to accompany her.
“Ah, Mr. D’Antonio is only expecting you Mr. Wick,” said the woman as she spied me following.
“She stays,” replied John gruffly, the huskiness of his voice turning more to a gravelly sound.
The woman swallowed hard. She nodded her head in acceptance and continued onward. We arrived at an elaborately, brightly lit restaurant that was … empty.
A lone man sat in a table in the centre sipping wine and resting on the back of the chair. An air of boredom surrounded him.
The woman visibly stiffened as she approached the table with us in tow.
“Signore D’Antonio, your guest,” she announced.
“Mmm!” he mumbled through a sip of wine and motioned the woman away. She scuttled off quickly.
What kind of man was he to put such fear in people?
“Mr. Wick!” he greeted, his accent thick, slurring his words slightly “,please sit.”
“I’m not doing the job,” announced John “, I’m retired.”
He turned to face John, chartreuse eyes framed by sable brows locked on him “, i said to sit.”
Then those eyes slid to me and stayed there. Subtly John stepped to the side, blocking me from his view. A chair scraped on the tiled floors.
“You didn’t say you were bringing a guest John,” chided Santino “, how rude.”
He stepped around John and offered me a hand. My heart beat picked up. I took his outstretched hand, the skin was smooth and soft. He bowed slightly and brought my hand to his lips. I froze and gaped at this notorious mafia man kissing my hand. He stood still grasping my hand and smiled, his eyes crinkling slightly at the corners.
I pulled my hand away, cradling it to my chest.
John instantly stepped between us “, I’d appreciate if you leave her out of this. Our business doesn’t concern her.”
“Yes, yes,” he mumbled, head bent to the side to peer around John. Eyes scanning my black ballet flats, faded jeans, white shirt and trench coat.
He smiled brilliantly this time and approached me, oblivious to John “, come - sit.”
Stepping around John he linked our arms and ushered me to the seat beside his. Firmly but gently he pulled the coat from my shoulders and draped it over an unused chair. Like a proper gentleman he pulled out the chair, hesitantly i sat.
John looked to me, his eyes concerned and his mouth drawn a thin line. I smiled slightly in acknowledgement to his silent question – yes i was fine. I could tell he was immensely regretting his decision to bring me along.
John sat to the right of D’Antonio, anger radiating off of him. Santino seemed oblivious to the fact or he just didn’t care. He clapped loudly and a barrage of chefs bustled into the room pushing serving carts brimming with hot food. Quickly they plated the food and left in the same bustling fashion. A steaming plate of lobster sat before me.
“We have business to discuss,” said John, his full attention on D’Antonio who was propped on his elbows watching me like a smug cat.
Involuntarily my stomach rumbled loudly. I winced and shrunk in my seat. I shot John an apologetic look.
He waved him off “, bella is hungry. We’ll discuss our affairs after.”
“D’Antonio -,” John’s voice was cut off as Santino happily piled pieces of bread and other fancy bits onto my plate.
John looked furious “, she doesn’t eat that,” and pulled an odd shaped piece of food from the dish. In hushed tones they argued over what went on my plate. John being quicker grabbed the lobster and cracked it open. D’Antonio looked on with a dissatisfied pout.
“Um, Mr. D’Antonio…,” I began.
Both eyes swiveled to me.
“Please bella, call me Santino,” he interceded and shot me a Cheshire cat grin “, and your name bella.”
“y/n –“
“Such a beautiful name.”
“Thank you,” i held up a hand as he started to speak “, I’m not finished,” i said sternly.
His eyebrows rose “, John has something important he’d like to discuss with you. I seem to be a distraction so – thank you for the wonderful meal.
I stood and pushed back my seat.
Santino jumped up and gripped my wrist “, no – sit – eat,” he said tersely.
He turned to John, eyebrows knitted “, problem, Mr. Wick?”
“I regretfully decline your offer of a job.”
I tuned out of the conversation and focused on the plate of lovelies sitting before me. God it smelt good! I picked at the lobster and tried to pry it open. I knew John had cracked it for me but the shell didn’t seem to budge. i looked up, John and Santino were both focused on each other. Carefully I picked up the lobster and the cracking tool and pressed down hard on the tail.
It broke with a violent crack. “Sorry,” I winced.
Taking the tiny fork I dug out the white meat and ate it with an internal sigh of happiness. Suddenly Santino’s napkined hand shot out, gently it glided on the corner of my mouth.
I stared wide eyed at him “, um, thank you?”
“Keep your hands off of her,” warned John “, we’re finished here, let’s go.”
“Don’t interrupt a lady when she’s eating,” protested Santino.
Internally I sulked but, I stood. Goodbye lovely food. Santino stood as well, shooting John an irritated look. He slipped my coat from the adjoining chair and helped me put it on.
He reached into the inner pocket of his black jacket and pulled out a card “, contact me at anytime using this card.”
He kissed it before pushing it into my hand. Swiftly he pulled me to him pressing a kiss to my cheek, he smelt like cigars and spices. His slight stubble scraped my cheek lightly as he pulled back, Chartreuse eyes locked on mines.
John ripped us apart, shoving Santino backwards. He gripped my wrist firmly and towed me out of the room.
“Careful John, it’s because of her i cancelled the order,” he called after us “, ciao bella, until we meet again.”
“Dream of me!” I heard echo as the door to the restaurant swung close behind us.
“You tossed the card?” asked John.
“Yup,” I lied.
The card he gave me weighed heavily in the breast pocket of my trench coat. I exhaled, happy the order was cancelled and John was free, however, the dour handsome, green eyed face lingered in my mind.
I patted the pocket, i might end up calling after all.
Hope you enjoyed~
P.S. : apparently the photo set i made to go with the fic is too big or something... help?

Fic: Butterfly Wings - Chapter 38
Story summary A fashion blog started at University launched Blaine Anderson’s fortune and fame. As Vogue’s new editor-in-chief, he is struggling to find an original angle for an upcoming issue. Kurt Hummel has recently arrived in New York City after finishing high school, and is having no luck building a musical theater career, so he decides to explore another passion of his: fashion. He applies for an internship at Vogue, and Isabelle sees in him the perfect fresh face to liven up the magazine, and convinces him to try out as a model. Kurt meets Blaine, and in spite of their 10-year age difference, sparks fly. Can they overcome misunderstandings and sabotage to find their happily-ever-after? Klaine model AU. Rating for this chapter: General (overall story is mature) Word count for this chapter: 5,750 Can also be read on A03 / FF Masterpost is here. You’re in for a real treat with the artwork contained in this chapter. They were created by Cassie at @cc-graphics. She has been so unbelievably supportive for a newbie author like myself. The overall story artwork was produced early in my writing and some days, it kept me going. Please go here to give her all the love she deserves for the photos.
Thank you to the amazing @lilyvandersteen for the beta work and support. ***** Author’s note: Pay attention to the day things are happening. The chapter takes pace over a 10-day period. “To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable; to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength.” – Criss Jami May - Sunday “I think we should do the photo shoot on the set Tuesday. On Wednesday, we’ll do the outdoor shoot and then we’ll head to Blaine’s place,” Paul, the lead photographer, suggests after listening to Blaine’s plans for the revised June issue. “Can someone get the permit to shoot in Central Park? Let’s pray it doesn’t rain.” “I’ll get someone to sort that out,” Tina replies, furiously typing into her computer. “Will that give you enough time to get the outfits together, Liam?” Blaine asks. “You’ve got a fantastic wardrobe, Blaine. I’m thinking that we’ll use your clothes so they don’t need to be altered. Can I come over this evening to pick out some outfits? That will leave Monday for doing any necessary cleaning and selecting the accessories.”
At Blaine’s nod, Liam continues. “The main thing that worries me is the cover. I’m not sure I can pull it off. I’m thinking we should use a professional theater costume designer, but I doubt we can get someone to create what you’re thinking of before Tuesday.” Blaine leans back in his chair and takes off his glasses before rubbing his eyes. This was always going to be the difficult part. “I’ve got an idea,” Paul says. “Why don’t we Photoshop it? I’m good friends with Jeff Huang, who’s the best in the field for digital art, and he’s based right here in New York City.” “Do you think he’ll agree to do it?” Blaine asks hopefully. “Think of the exposure he’ll get with his digital art on the cover of Vogue. Jeff will be all over it. Let me call him now.” When Paul has left the room, Blaine turns to Unique. “I’m counting on you living up to your name in the make-up area.” Unique gulps and slowly nods. “I’ve already texted Lady Divine, who’s promised to help me. But your hair, Blaine…” “What’s wrong with it?” “I’m thinking that you need an edgier style.” “Nope, I’m not getting rid of the curls. Not doing it. I spent my teenage years gelling my hair, and now that I’ve figured out a way to control them, I’m keeping the curls.” Unique huffs and stands up, placing a hand on her hip. “Honey, you need to trust Unique. I’m not suggesting for one single moment that you get rid of those curls. I’m thinking about a cut that will show them off even more. When Mark Townsend helped us out on the Hamilton-inspired photo shoot, he had some really great ideas about your hair.” “Okay, Unique. I guess it’s go big or go home. Can you set up an appointment for tomorrow?” “Already done. Townsend is expecting you at 4 p.m.” Now that all aspects of the photo shoot have been discussed, the conversation turns to the main article. “I want to make one thing very clear about the main article. I must have full editorial control. There are specific things I want included and other things I will not discuss. That is non-negotiable.” “Do you want to write the article yourself?” Isabelle politely asks. “No. I won’t have the time and it would get far too sappy. I’m looking for a top-notch journalist to write it to my specifications.” Isabelle sits up straight before she replies. “Santino Cruz is a new staff writer for the website. He’s a wonderful reporter, and his articles are thoughtful and compassionate. I’m expecting him to go places one day, but for now, he writes articles about celebrities and travel pieces.” “Do you think Santino is up for the job?” “Yes, I do. I can be there during the interview, if you like, and polish up the article before your final editing.” “I trust your judgement, Isabelle. I’ll email you the list of things I wish to be included. Can you and Santino start the interview tomorrow morning? It looks like I’m going to be very busy with the photo shoots after that.” “Consider it done. We’ll also have to run the article by your PR agency.” Tina and the head of distribution talk about the logistics of getting the revised cover and article to the printers in time. The finance director approves the additional costs for the overtime required to print and distribute the issue over the weekend. The website content has been assigned over to Isabelle’s number two – she will be far too busy with the article and coordinating events to give the website the attention it deserves. At the end of the meeting, Blaine smiles for the first time, realizing that this is really going to happen. He returns to his office to make an important phone call. It’s the last piece of the puzzle that needs to be in place to pull off Operation Woo Kurt. ***** “Blaine Anderson. How nice to hear from you! I haven’t seen you since you came on the show after becoming Vogue’s editor-in-chief.” “Has it really been that long, Ellen?” “Yes, it has been that long. So when are you going to grace my show with your presence again?” “I’m glad you asked that. How far ahead do you tape your show?” “One day.” “So if I wanted to be on the show on a Tuesday, it would be taped on the Monday?” “Yes, that’s right. Why do you ask?” Blaine crosses his fingers because the timing would work if Ellen agrees. “I have a special favor to ask you, Ellen. I’d like to be on the show airing on June 1st. Here’s what’s happening…” Blaine gives a quick spiel about Operation Woo Kurt, June’s Vogue issue, and how The Ellen Show fits into his plans. When he’s finished pitching his story, Blaine takes deep breaths, nervously waiting for Ellen’s reaction. “Are you serious, Blaine? I didn’t think you had it in you to be so bold.” Blaine chuckles, “Yeah, I didn’t think so either. So what do you say, can I be on your show?” “Absolutely! This appearance will top everyone we’ve had this year. The only thing that would make it better is if Kurt were in the audience.” “Sorry, but no can do. Kurt is currently in the Mid-West staying with his dad. I need this to be a complete surprise.” “Ugh, I understand. I’ll have the program director contact your office tomorrow about when you’re needed on set. Let’s meet up for lunch that day so you can tell me all about it and we can figure out a plan for the appearance.” ***** Tuesday Blaine looks at himself in the mirror in the make-up area, and cannot believe that it’s really him. He’s never worn so much make-up in his life. Blaine has always been confident about his looks, knowing that others find him attractive, but this is the first time he thinks of himself as beautiful. “Don’t touch your face!” Lady Divine cries out. “You’re a work of art and I can’t have you messing it up.” “How do you like it?” Unique asks in a shaky voice. “I love it, but could I have some eyeliner? Err… Kurt likes it on me.” “Anything for that boy,” Lady Divine smirks as she carefully applies the liquid liner to his eyelids. Unique squeezes a very small dollop of hair product into her palm and carefully works it through his hair. Blaine loves his new hairstyle and only hopes that Kurt does as well. As he waits for the set to be ready, Blaine relaxes for the first time since Sunday morning. There had been clothes to select, the set stylists had worked there magic in his house, and of course there had been the interview itself. Blaine had been impressed by Santino Cruz. It took half an hour to get the staff writer to relax in his presence, but once Blaine and Santino realized that they both loved Broadway, they forged a bond. Santino stayed on script for the main interview, while Isabelle interjected with a few more detailed questions. At the end, Santino had asked additional questions about the Monarch Foundation and its long-term plans. Blaine could see where he was going with this, so he gave a lot of background information and shared his vision. Santino then suggested that the article should include the Monarch House and offered to find a Westerville photographer to take some photos. Isabelle was right – Santino Cruz will be going places someday. Liam comes over and gives Blaine a quick look-over. No special clothing is needed for this part of the photo shoot. “I almost forgot. Let me take that wristband off before you go on set,” Liam says, pulling Blaine’s arm towards him. Blaine angrily pushes the hand away, which startles Liam. “Don’t touch it! I’m never going to take off this wristband! It means everything to me. It stays on during the photo shoot.” “Okay. Sorry, Blaine. I didn’t know that it was so special to you,” Liam meekly replies. “Sorry that I raised my voice, but it is special.” “We’re ready when you are,” Paul shouts. Blaine nervously gets up and adjusts the tiny shorts. He feels self-conscious without a shirt to cover his chest. Unique had insisted that he have an upper body wax yesterday, and his chest feels weird. He can feel Unique rub his shoulder. “You’ll do fine. Just remember that you’re the greatest diva of them all.” Blaine laughs at Unique’s comment and smiles back. “That’s because I’ve got you as a sidekick, my dear.” Blaine walks onto the set and stands where the marking is on the floor. The lights are blinding and he hopes he doesn’t start to sweat. “Anything you want to listen to?” Paul asks. “I’ve already got it set up,” Steve, the lighting technician, replies, and he turns on the audio system. What a diff'rence a day made Twenty-four little hours Brought the sun and the flowers Where there used to be rain My yesterday was blue, dear Today I'm part of you, dear As Blaine moves into the positions that Paul calls out, he thinks back to the 24 hours that he had spent with Kurt in LA. It was the most incredible experience of his life. Blaine’s arms flow in time to the music, imagining being held in Kurt’s arms. He rolls his head, remembering feeling Kurt inside his body, filling him with ecstasy and love. “That’s a wrap. God, Blaine, you should be a model. You can really make your body flow like liquid. And do you know how hard it is to make models look dreamy-eyed like that?” Paul remarks. “Thanks, but I think I’ll stick to my job behind my desk after this week. This is too much hard work,” Blaine chuckles. ***** Friday Blaine glances up from his computer screen and looks at Isabelle and at Santino, who is nervously twisting his hands in his lap. “It’s perfect. We’ll run with this article.” Blaine can see the relief wash over both of their faces. “Santino, this is excellent work. I especially like what you wrote about the Monarch Foundation. Maybe I can rope you into writing some of the foundation’s promotional materials… The photos you picked out are perfect. Now go take the rest of the day off. You deserve it.” Santino thanks Blaine before leaving. When Isabelle gets up, Blaine pleads with her to stay. “Can you stay with me until the cover photo is delivered? I’m really nervous to see what it looks like.” “Sure, I’ll stay. But honestly, Blaine, you have nothing to worry about. The photos in the main spread are fantastic.” “But the cover is so out there! By the way, thanks for suggesting Santino for writing the article. You’re right. He’s very talented. I wonder if there’s a position available to give him a promotion?” “I’ll look into it and make it happen.” Their conversation is interrupted by a knock on the door. Blaine eagerly waves Paul and Jeff Huang into his office. Paul hands over the printout of the June issue’s cover, and Blaine gasps when he sees it. “I…I don’t know what to say. This surpasses anything I ever imagined it would be. It truly is a piece of art. Let’s go with it.” Isabelle jumps up and gives Blaine a hug. “You pulled it off! I have to admit, when you told us the ideas for article and cover on Sunday, I didn’t think we had any chance of making such a tight deadline. But you did!” “I honestly couldn’t have done it without everyone pulling together and working crazy hours. The real proof will be in the reactions of Kurt and the readers on Tuesday.” Once everyone has cleared out of his office, Blaine checks the time. He needs to get ready to leave for the airport. He plans to be in LA over the weekend so that he can spend time with Sam and Cooper. Blaine feels bad about cutting his last trip short, but once Kurt left, Blaine just wanted to go home. When Blaine hears his phone ping, he quickly looks at the new message. You’ve been quiet this week. I miss you :(. Is everything okay? – K xx Blaine feels badly about not being in touch with Kurt all week, but he’s afraid that if he talked to Kurt, he would blurt out his plans by mistake. As much as Blaine hates doing it, he types out his reply. Work has been incredibly busy with the June issue deadline. I’m off to LA and won’t be returning until Monday night. Let’s talk on Tuesday. I love you and miss you too. – B xxxxxxxx Blaine quickly grabs his carry-on suitcase and heads out of the building and into his car, which is waiting at the curb. “Traffic is fine, Blaine. I think we’ll make it to JFK airport with plenty of time to spare. Get done what you needed to at the office?” Bentley asks. “Yeah, I’ve approved the June issue to go to the printers. It’s been quite the week. Thanks for putting up with me and all the craziness of getting me to different locations. I’m looking forward to a weekend relaxing with Sam, Mercedes and Cooper.” That it's… All or nothing… All or nothing… Cause this is my life… I'm not gonna live it twice… Blaine smiles as he presses accept on his phone. “Hey, Marley. What’s up?” “Oh my god, Blaine. You’ll never believe it. SONY is interested in our song! I personally dropped the demo off at their offices this morning, and you know what? It turns out that the personal assistant of the VP in charge of new talent has been to the Treble Clef Jazz Club before and has heard me sing ‘All or Nothing’. He remembered the song and loves it, so brought the demo directly to his boss. After about 30 minutes, the VP ushered me into her office and started to discuss a deal to produce my first album.” “That’s wonderful news, Marley!” “You better get your songwriting into gear, because I need about eight more songs.” “That’s kind of you to think of me,” replies Blaine. “It’s more than that, Blaine. The VP loved the music composition. She wants to see more original songs like that.” “Marley, I’m on my way to the airport now and will be in LA until next Tuesday night. Why don’t I call you when I get back and we can discuss it in more detail?” After agreeing to talk next week, Blaine ends the call and lets out a deep breath. Everything has happened so quickly this week. Recording the demo song on Saturday, changing the direction of Vogue’s June issue on Sunday, haircuts, body wax, and the interview on Monday, the photo shoots on Tuesday and Wednesday, reviewing the issue on Thursday, and approving the interview and cover photo today. However, Blaine thinks it’s all worth it, particularly if he gets to see Kurt next week. Blaine mentally goes through all the plans from now until Tuesday, June 1st. There’s only one last detail he needs to take care of. He scrolls through his contact list and makes the call. “Blaine. What can I do for you, bud?” “Hi, Burt. After we talked on Saturday, I figured out a plan to woo Kurt.” “I know you did. Your father filled me in. I even went over to the Monarch House to be in the photos. I can’t wait to see Kurt’s face when he sees the June issue. He’s gonna love it.” “I hope he does. I need your help on one little matter. What are you doing next Tuesday at 3 p.m.?” ***** Tuesday Kurt is surprised to see his father at the kitchen table at 8 a.m. Usually, he’s already left at that time to open the garage. “Shouldn’t you be at work, Dad?” “Timmy’s opening the shop today. I thought I would take it easy this morning.” Kurt sees his father glance at the kitchen clock and fidget on his seat. “You home all day, kiddo?” “No plans yet. I’m going to spend time designing this morning. I’ll see what the weather’s like before I decide what to do in the afternoon.” “How about I come home early and we do something together. You’re always going on at me about how we don’t have a decent guest bedroom. Maybe we can fix it up or something?” Kurt looks at his father skeptically. Since when does his dad volunteer to decorate a room? Before Kurt can figure out what’s going on, the doorbell rings. “Go answer the door. It’s for you.” Kurt shakes his head and chuckles. Something is definitely going on. When he answers the door, he sees the postman with a large envelope from Vogue. Kurt accepts the envelope and sets it down on the counter before opening the fridge to figure out what he’ll have for breakfast. “Aren’t you gonna open it?” “It’s just the June issue of Vogue. I’ll read it this evening after dinner.” “You’ll do no such thing! Open it now!” Burt roars. “Okay, Dad. Calm down - remember your heart. I didn’t know it’s so important to you that I read Vogue as soon as I receive it.” “Well, it is,” Burt huffs. Kurt can feel his dad’s eyes on him as he carefully takes the magazine out of the envelope. Kurt’s jaw drops and tears slowly form when he sees the cover.
Tumblr media
Blaine is on the cover.   Blaine is naked from the waist up, wearing what looks like shorts. Kurt can tell that Blaine has been keeping up his exercise regime and he likes what he sees. Before Kurt gets too carried away looking at the distinctive V trailing down into the shorts, his eyes rake up Blaine’s chest. Did Blaine really wax his body? Kurt hopes that he can convince Blaine to grow back his chest hair because he loves the feel of it against his naked body. It does things to him. Kurt next looks at Blaine’s face. Blaine’s wearing make-up, but it’s slightly smudged – as if he has just finished a strenuous performance. Kurt bites his fist when he manages to take his eyes off Blaine to see the total picture. Blaine’s arms are clasped together as if praying, and behind him are butterfly wings. The wings are ethereal and look almost transparent - a blend of green and blue colors, with flecks of gold. Kurt gasps when he sees that Blaine’s only adornment is the silicone rainbow bracelet. The background looks as if Blaine has risen from a fantasy scene. Printed along the top of the cover is Blaine Anderson – Find out what really matters to him. Kurt wipes his tears from his eyes, appreciating that no-one else would understand the butterfly wings. Only him. It’s all for him. Kurt feels his father wrap his arms around him. The feeling grounds him as he cries into his dad’s chest. “I hope those are happy tears, son.” “I can’t believe that Blaine did this. God, I love him so much.” “I know you do. Aren’t you going to read the interview?” Kurt nods and returns to his seat. He opens the issue and gasps when he sees the beginning of the six-page article.
Tumblr media
The first pages contain two amazing photos of Blaine with a different, more polished look altogether. Blaine’s hair has been cut short along the sides and back, but the top has been left long with luscious curls. Kurt loves the new hair style. There’s shimmery blue glitter both over and under Blaine’s eyes and it expertly fades into his upper cheek bones. There’s a strip of pink rouge on his cheeks that blends into his sideburns. Blaine’s full lips are coated with bright red shimmery lipstick. The photos are just head shots, but continue the butterfly wings theme. In the first photo, Blaine is wearing a pair of butterfly wings, and in the second photo, three butterflies flutter in front of his face. Blaine looks absolutely stunning. The article starts with setting out some background information about Blaine, but then it delves into what matters to him. Kurt thinks that the article is brilliantly laid out into themes, with corresponding photos. There’s a photo of Blaine playing the piano in his penthouse. The article goes on to describe how music is important in his life. The next photo is of Blaine running in Central Park, and the article describes how Blaine keeps fit and healthy. Kurt turns the page and sees a photo of the Monarch House, with teenagers and parents at a BBQ in the backyard. He looks closely to see if he can recognize anybody. He can make out Michael and… “Dad, you were in on this!” Burt laughs and checks out the photo. “That photo has turned out alright. Michael Anderson called me last Monday night and told me a little about the issue. I wanted to be a part of it, so I took Tuesday morning off,” Burt sheepishly replies. Kurt grimaces when he sees the photo of Blaine and Sebastian. It’s the exact same photo that he discovered in Blaine’s wallet in LA. His eyes quickly return to the article. Sebastian Smythe is the editor-in-chief of Elle magazine, our major competitor. Sebastian and I have known each other since high school and have always been rivals. It’s made me stay alert to potential problems and to take risks for new opportunities. It’s kept me on my toes and spurred me on to keep moving forward. Up until recently, I kept this photo in my wallet as a reminder that competition is essential to push yourself to succeed. Honestly, I admire Sebastian. He’s smart and a very savvy businessman. His recent donation to the Monarch Foundation only confirms that there is a compassionate side to him as well. Kurt feels horrible that he jumped to conclusions as to why Blaine kept that photo in his wallet. He knew there would be a perfectly good reason that didn’t include a bet about him. Blaine was very clever at working this into the article. Kurt laughs at the photo of Blaine in his Nightbird Outfit. He definitely wants to see Blaine in it in a more private setting. He reads the corresponding part of the interview carefully. Someone special recently reminded me how important bucket lists are. They can contain little things like exploring your neighborhood or trying something new. However, a really good bucket list also has your long-term hopes and dreams. Kurt thinks about his bucket list and can’t wait until they include hopes and dreams shared with Blaine. When Kurt turns the page, nothing has prepared him for the photo. It is simply Blaine’s lower arm and hand with the silicone rainbow bracelet stamped Love is love is love is love. Above all else, love is what matters to me. It’s the love of my family, who are very supportive. It has only been this year that I learned how important my father’s love is. Working with him to establish the Monarch House in Westerville has been an incredible experience. It has taught me that my roots really matter. It’s the love of my partner, someone I can truly be myself with. My love for him fills me with such joy and makes me feel as if I can do anything. But at the same time, it grounds me and keeps me safe and connected. Most importantly, he’s my best friend, and there is nothing better than a day spent together. The future? I very much believe in marriage and I want to spend every day of my life loving my future husband. I hope it will be full of love for our children and grandchildren. I will die a very happy man if I can achieve this sort of love. This is what really matters to me. Kurt puts down the magazine. Blaine has laid out each of his core values in this article. There are so many little things in the article that make it feel so personal to him. “I’m going to lie down in my room, Dad. I’ve got a lot to think about.” “Yes, I think you do. I’m going to head to the garage to make sure everything is okay. I’ll see you at lunchtime.” ***** “Are you sure dove gray will be a good color for the walls? It sounds dreary to me.” “It’s sophisticated, Dad. And it will go perfectly with the Ralph Lauren comforter set. I even have a 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It won’t cost that much.” Burt checks his watch for the hundredth time since they started the project in the guest bedroom. When it’s 2:55 p.m., Burt stretches his arms over his head. “Okay, kiddo. You can order the comforter set. I’ll pick up the paint this week and we can decorate this weekend. What do you say we watch some TV?” “No, thanks, Dad. You know I hate watching ESPN.” “Come on, Kurt. I promise not to watch sports. Maybe a reality show or something like that?” “Really?” “I wanna spend as much time as possible with you before you run off to New York City again. I have a feeling that’s going to be sooner rather than later.” Kurt follows Burt down the stairs and into the living room. When Kurt picks up the TV remote, his dad snatches it out of his hands and sits in his comfortable reclining armchair. “I thought I could pick the show,” Kurt groans. “You can, but let me flick through the channels first.” Kurt sits down on the couch and picks up Vogue, staring at Blaine on the cover. Frankly, he couldn’t care less what they watch because he wants to read the article all over again. “Fancy that. The Ellen Show is on. Let’s watch it,”  Burt suggests. Kurt quirks an eyebrow at his dad. “You like The Ellen Show?” “I don’t get to watch it ‘cause I’m always at the garage in the afternoons. I wanna see what it’s all about. I hear she has interesting guests.” Kurt shrugs. If his dad wants to watch The Ellen Show, he can. It doesn’t matter to Kurt. He continues to stare at the photo of Blaine on Vogue’s cover, wondering what his next move should be. He hears the audience clapping and Ellen’s voice doing the usual introduction. “… warm welcome for the one and only Blaine Anderson” Kurt looks up when he hears Blaine’s name and sees Blaine walking across the stage. “You knew about this too!” Kurt cries out, tossing a throw pillow at his dad. “I’ve set the DVR up. Now, shhh, let’s watch it.” Blaine is wearing black-and-white geometric sports jacket and matching trousers with a pink collared shirt, unbuttoned at the top. Not many men could pull off that look, but Blaine looks incredible in it. “Blaine, you look fantastic. Who are you wearing?” “Thank you, Ellen. I’m wearing Thom Browne. There are lots of amazing designs come through Vogue’s doors.” “I haven’t seen you since you became Vogue’s editor-in-chief. How’s that going?” Kurt listens to Blaine explain what has been going on at Vogue, but his mind is really focused on a key question. What the hell is Blaine Anderson doing on The Ellen Show on an ordinary Tuesday? Kurt tunes back in when Blaine stops talking about Vogue. “I hear that you might have found a new job.” When Blaine gives her a questioning look, the back screen lights up with Blaine’s photo on Vogue’s June cover. The audience gasps and is silent for a moment or two, before loud shrieks and applause can be heard. “Ladies and gentlemen… Blaine Anderson, the supermodel.” “I’m not sure about that. I won’t be giving up my day job any time soon. Modeling is hard work!” “So what made you do it? Why grace the cover of Vogue?” “Vogue’s April issue was about ‘pushing boundaries’. It made me wonder if I pushed the boundaries in my own life. I was recently in LA, just for a day, and I had an epiphany – a clear vision about what’s important in my life.” The photos from the Vogue issue fade in and out of the back screen. Blaine and Ellen talk through the highlights of the magazine article, with additional time spent on the Monarch Foundation. “I think we all want to know why you decided to make such a public statement.” “There are so many photos of me on social media and things written about me. 99% of it isn’t true.” “You mean you aren’t a man-eater who can have sex simultaneously in New York, London and Sydney? “No, and I don’t live in a castle either,” Blaine chuckles. The last photo of Blaine’s wrist with the rainbow bracelet appears on the screen. “So, love…” Ellen prompts. Blaine takes a sip of water before he continues. “Since I was a teenager, I’ve always known that love, a husband and a family are important to me. Being gay, I didn’t know how that would work out until marriage equality swept through all 50 states.” The studio audience applauds and loudly cheers, before allowing Blaine to continue. “It was during that special day in LA that I went from believing to knowing that love is the most important thing in my life. To have a husband, children – that would make me complete.” “That must have been one very special day.” “Yeah, it was,” Blaine shyly replies. “So, is there someone special in your life?” “Yes, there is a special man in my life. I’m not going to name him. Our relationship is still new and fragile, but I love him very much.” “I understand you have a song you want to perform.” Blaine nods his head. “After the break, we will be hearing a live performance from Blaine Anderson.” Kurt’s tears turn into sobs as the ads start. Burt walks over, sits on the couch and pulls Kurt in with one arm. “I just…” “I know, Kurt. Deep breaths.” When The Ellen Show returns, Blaine is on the stage sitting at a baby grand piano, with a small back-up band. The spotlight is on Blaine, and as he looks up, he says, “This one’s for you, boyfriend.” If I was a raindrop Would you be my thunder storm? It's cold so surround me With rain clouds to keep me warm I feel like I'm falling So darling, don't let me go The thought is appalling But should I slip away Into the stormy sea will you remember me? Kurt loves the song, its upbeat tempo, and Blaine’s rich tenor voice as he sings. The song’s lyrics are playful and hopeful, and give Kurt a warm feeling. Asleep in our warm cocoons We dream of lovely things We're both gonna wake up soon So we hope that tomorrow brings Us our butterfly wings Kurt laughs at the butterfly reference. Butterflies are really their thing. It had started with the first photo shoot where Kurt modeled for Vogue and then led to the beautiful brooch Blaine gave him for his birthday. When the song ends, Kurt can hear a thunder of applause from the audience. When Ellen introduces the next guest, Burt gets up and switches off the TV. He glances over at Kurt furiously tapping on his tablet. “6:36 a.m. tomorrow,” Burt remarks. Kurt looks up and gives his father a questioning look. “The next direct flight from Dayton to New York City is at 6:36 tomorrow morning. There are still seats left. I checked earlier.” “But… How did you know?” “Buddy, it’s been obvious since you arrived ten days ago. You may be in Lima, but your heart is firmly in New York City. After what Anderson did for you, I figured that you would want to go to him.” “Do you think I’m ready?” “The more important question is whether you think you’re ready,” Burt replies. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my life, but studying fashion is a step in the right direction to figure it out. One thing I know for sure is that in any version of my life that I dream about, Blaine is in it.” “So what are you waiting for? Don’t you have a phone call to make? Some packing to do? I’ll go book the flight.” ***** “Kurt…Hi,” Blaine says when he answers his phone. “I love you! I love you! I love you! That photo on Vogue’s cover is amazing. The article is amazing. The Ellen Show is amazing. The song is amazing. You’re amazing.” “It wasn’t too over the top?” “Of course it was, but that’s what I love about it. How did you organize things so fast? I only gave you the rainbow wristband ten days ago.” “Let’s just say that very few people at Vogue got any sleep last week,” Blaine chuckles. “But I would move heaven and earth if it meant that you would come to New York City to be with me.” “You’re the master of the cheesy lines.” “Do they work?” Blaine whispers. “I have only question for you, Blaine…” When Kurt hears Blaine breath hitch, he continues, “Will you pick me up at LaGuardia tomorrow morning?" Author notes Song at Blaine’s photo shoot – ‘What a Difference a Day Made’. There are many covers of this song but my favorite is by Jamie Cullum. Song Blaine sings on the Ellen Show – ‘Butterfly Wings’ by Owl City. Now you know how I picked the title for the story :) Next up:  Kurt arrives in New York City. Heads up – there are only three more chapters and an epilogue to go.

Hi! Do you know about books with a pansexual mc (own voices)?? 💙💙
As it happens, I’ve actually been meaning to write a whole blog post about this, but for right now, I’ll get it settled for getting the main point down here. (And please know, Asker, none of this is a criticism of you asking this question. It’s something that’s been plaguing me for a while.)
I think Diversity Bingo is a great challenge - this isn’t the first I’ve seen of it and it won’t be the last - but I think there’s something extremely problematic about making readers dig into authors’ sexualities. And I get wanting to support #ownvoices - obviously I do - but as someone on the author side, I’m seeing it cause a lot of harm among authors who can’t come out but now feel they have to. And frankly, I feel weird at the messages I’m getting from people asking to know about my books being #ownvoices or not, as if I must be at liberty to discuss my sexuality because a challenge told them they need to know. And I say that as someone who is fine discussing her sexuality, though I some know other authors who aren’t.
But the most problematic category I’ve seen on the card circulating this year is this one. Why? Because I know of four books with Pansexual MCs on the page, and none of the authors (including me) IDs as Pan. That means readers basically just have to conflate our IDs with Pansexuality. Which, like, do I think any of us who ID as Bi are offended at the notion of being called Pan instead? No; IDGAF. But we chose to label our characters as Pansexual, not Bisexual, for a reason, and in at least two of those books, we actively make the point that Pan and Bi aren’t the same thing, and yet, now those very books are shoving us into a box that forces readers to consider it that way, which, frankly, feels disrespectful to the MCs of exactly those books (and everyone they represent).
I don’t have a good answer for this. I know of one more novella coming out soon with a Pan MC, and that author doesn’t ID as Pan either. So, here’s what’s got Pan MCs on the page, and though none of them are #ownvoices in the strictest sense, they’re all by authors who ID as Bisexual, Sapphic, or Queer, so I guess that’s what’s counting these days:
Seven Ways We Lie by Riley Redgate (YA)
Out On Good Behavior by Dahlia Adler (NA)
The Melody of You and Me by Maria Hollis (NA)
First and First by Santino Hassell (Adult)
and coming up, Double Exposure by Chelsea Cameron (NA)

Pit Bulls, Bigotry And A Book
Tumblr media
Why would anyone feel the need to write a children’s book about a pit bull? I and the illustrator, Dula Yavne, have been asked this regularly since releasing Galunker: a rhyming book about a hapless but lovable dog who is loathed because of his breed. Galunker is mostly intended as an entertaining tale about a canine outsider, but there’s no question that it’s also a parable with a crucial lesson. And surely the hatred that drives the mass killing of pit bulls is not an appropriate topic for eight-year-olds? We disagree. Bigotry is instilled at an early age, and that’s when it should be countered. And if you don’t believe that we’re dealing with genuine hatred, consider this story.
In 2012, the actor Nick Santino committed suicide, on his birthday, after being pressured to kill his pet dog. He had to choose between his neighbors — who were harassing him mercilessly — and his pit bull. He made the wrong choice. Unable to live with himself, he took an overdose of pills less than 24 hours later. The suicide note read: “Today I betrayed my best friend. Rocco trusted me and I failed him. He didn’t deserve this.”
When this story was posted on the web, one Dawn James (who uses this name, but generally hides behind the pseudonym “Craven Desires”), wrote beneath it: “Well good! Just one less Shit Bull in the world and one less Pit Nutter to worry about!”
This is the kind of bigotry we’re up against. And it’s not simply seething amateur bloggers. One of America’s most respected gay-rights activists, Dan Savage, wrote a piece entitled, “Pit Bulls Should be Boiled Alive like Lobsters and Fed to Their Idiot Owners.”
I generally admire Dan Savage. He should know better. Pit bulls are the victims of bogus statistics, most of them cooked up by a single unqualified quack, and that same strategy was used for decades to demonize gay men. Yes, the analogy between dogs and humans is fraught — I try to avoid it — but sometimes it’s instructive. The myth that gay men are statistically more likely to commit pedophilia than straight men has been soundly refuted, as has the myth that pit bulls are more likely than other dogs to attack and kill people.
Tumblr media
Even Snopes has weighed in here: “What is the most dangerous type of dog? It’s complicated, but according to study after study, and when controlling for outside factors in individual dogs including training, early experiences, and excitability, the most aggressive and dangerous type of dog across the board, accountable for the vast majority of fatal attacks, is the intact male — independent of breed.” (Brooke Binkowski)
And so, Dan Savage has bought into a vicious myth, based on pseudo-science, no more valid than the assertion that natural disasters are God’s response to homosexuality. His words qualify as hate speech.
Galunker was conceived as an antidote to Dawn James and Dan Savage. And to those who contribute to this prejudice, sometimes with the best of intentions. Whether moral or factual, wrong is wrong.
Barbara Kay, for instance, who writes for Canada’s National Post, does not use the language of trolls and demagogues, but is equally devoted to ignorance masquerading as science. She is overawed by the bogus statistician introduced earlier ― she told me in an email that he is her “primary source” ― and has announced that I will have blood on my hands for writing Galunker. Nothing strikes her as more irresponsible than a children’s book about a breed that she considers criminal. She has reviewed our book twice. She has never read our book.
Also, she has made a point of not reading the definitive study of this breed: Bronwen Dickey’s “Pit Bull: The Battle over an American Icon.” Barbara Kay has clearly heard that Ms. Dickey ― after seven years of exhaustive research, combing through the history and the scientific literature ― has demonstrated that the pit bull hysteria is completely unfounded.
And worse, Ms. Kay is aware of what Bronwen Dickey has discovered about her favorite expert, Merritt Clifton, the “statistician” mentioned above. Ms. Dickey points out that his publishing record is abysmal: despite having boasted of over a hundred peer-reviewed publications, he is in fact responsible for only two not-quite-academic papers. “In one of them, he cites his own newsletter twelve times. The rest of the citations came mainly from Web sites, news reports, and press releases.” He “possesses no relevant credentials.”
Barbara Kay’s apoplexy directed towards us (in two reviews of Galunker published on, yes, Merritt Clifton’s blog), has to do with her perception that we are “pushing toddlers towards pit bulls.” If she took the time to read the book, she’d discover that there isn’t a single toddler in it, and that it’s a bit complicated for toddlers: it’s aimed at readers between eight and eighty. She’d also discover an essay and cut-out poster at the end of the book, devoted to teaching children and parents safety rules ― along the lines of the Red Cross rules for swimming ― appropriate to interaction with dogs of any breed.
Subscribe to The Morning Email.Wake up to the day's most important news.
Parents and children sign a contract at the beginning of Galunker, pledging to adhere to these rules.
Tumblr media
Yes, we make it clear that pit bulls have been unfairly demonized, but this in itself is a crucial element of dog safety: do not teach your children that any dog ― especially a sizable, powerful breed like a St. Bernard, American Pit Bull Terrier, German Shepherd, Doberman, etc. ― should be assumed safe. Breeds have differences, but far outweighing these is the fact that dogs are individuals.
I mention those breeds, because all have, at one time or another, been the Frankenstein monster of the day. Pit bull hatred is a relatively recent phenomenon. After Stephen King’s “Cujo” was published, for instance, the St. Bernard was considered satanic. When the Germans were our enemies in World War Two, it was the German Shepherd. (Oh, and ― comically enough ― the German connection after World War One inspired an epidemic of Dachshund phobia.) Bigotry tends to have solid, identifiable roots.
We do make the point in Galunker that large, muscular dogs are not appropriate for every family. We stress that those who do decide to make one of these a member of the family should adhere strictly to certain rules: most important being socialization, proper training, and spay/neuter ― to take in a large male dog, and not have it fixed, is dangerous and irresponsible. Unlike those who believe that Breed Specific Legislation will solve the issue of dog bites ― an approach that has failed worldwide ― Dula and I favor education, as well as rigorous legal remedies: stringent leash laws, and zero tolerance for people who inflict dangerous dogs upon the public. Bigots wish to express prejudice; we wish to keep people safe.
And our book, Galunker, has run up against prejudice everywhere. I was told that it would be a fool’s errand to even submit the manuscript to one of my usual publishers (Doubleday, Random House), so Dula and I put it on Kickstarter. It became one of the most successful kids’ books in Kickstarter history: we aimed to raise $27,000, and ended up with more than $62,000. Which was a good thing, as the book proved far more expensive than we imagined to print and distribute.
And, most important, our supporters who received the book are thrilled with it. People who love pit bulls are, luckily, even more passionate than people who hate them.
Not only will we not have blood on our hands ― an absurd assertion ― but we hope to stay the bloody hands of the hatemongers responsible for the killing of approximately half a million pit bulls every year.
The first part of Galunker was initially published here on The Huffington Post. If you’d like to know how it ends ― and just how evil Dula and I are not ― the commercial edition has just been published. And if you live in America, and order now, it should arrive in time for Christmas.
