That's why I'm announcing this special edition of tiny tarot game. It's not going to be regular thing. 😊

I would love for my devoted Kleotics to have an opportunity to participate in this game so there will be some rules to make sure I don't receive a bunch of new anon asks from people who will never even check my response. 😂

Poll ended a couple days ago but I just thought to check the final results, and wow that's interesting.

This post was reblogged by a Dragon Age poll-specific blog after a day or so, and before that it had like a hundred and change votes and was a Harding Sweep for sure. Which made sense to me, she was the Nostalgia Hook and Sleeper Fave for many an Inquisition fan. Then the reblog, and after another hundred or so votes Emmrich started edging her out and Bellara started picking up steam.

Now the final results are nearly one out of every three voters have picked Bellara as Fandom Bestie, the runner-up Emmrich doesn't even crack one out of every six, and Darling Harding got bopped down to third place, which does make sense as studies show that bronze medalists are happiest because they're just pleased to make the podium.

Not much to say about Neve's solid middling score because I feel it's made up by her being statistically the most popular romance and her character tropes not appealing to me personally. A film noir enthusiast, I most assuredly am not, but I'm glad she's still got some oomph, relatively speaking.

It seems odd to me that this fandom is so Lucanismancing heavy but wouldn't pick him as their best friend, though perhaps that's just the aromantic in me. And while I do think it's hilarious that Davrin edges Lucanis out by more than 1.5%, part of me does fear that is not down to his kind heart and side-splitting Fade conspiracy theories, but in fact because he comes with Assan. One Fear, lemme tell you.

And, finally, we come to the biggest disappointment. The literal reason I made this poll. As much as I love Spite and Lucanis and Davrin and Harding, and Emmrich and Neve and Bellara are also there, Taash is my best fucking friend and I am so delighted every time they open their mouth and offer their unvarnished thoughts and devastatingly-relatable opinions, and I will fistfight anyone who makes them feel bad or says there's something wrong with them or their story. And almost 93% of y'all forsake them.

Fine, more firebreathing and dragon autism and alexithymia and fistbumps and monotone but earnest "that's messed up"s for me, then.

yall its called Rounding you learned this in fucking grade school. tumblr only shows one decimal place of precision on the polls. 0.1% of 63,000 is 63. the number at the end being odd is literally meaningless except for the fact that if it was an even number i wouldnt have to see comments from ppl who are shit at math saying WHAT BUT ITS ODD HOW??? oh how i imagine a blessed world where if only One Less Person had voted.

also for anyone smugly pointing out to me "oh its not REALLY 50/50" i. yes i know we literally did the math. we saw the more accurate numbers to 4 decimal places. i am aware of the fact that the 63,579 vote poll with an odd number of votes is not perfectly exactly 50/50. i am aware of this ty!! i was not expecting the tumblr poll to get it right down to the individual vote i find it impressive enough that the gap is only 37ish votes out of fucking 63,579. i am aware that the number is rounded as i was literally telling people "oh yeah and the more votes this gets the more leeway the poll will have as that 0.1% gets bigger".

Gentle reminder - reblog!

Hi everyone!

Not sure if you've been keeping up with all the changes that keep happening on tumblr, but every single time this website and company is acquired by someone new, they try their best to turn it into another facebook, or instagram, or tiktok, or whatever the cool new social media platform is. It's a fundamental misunderstanding of how this platform works and the benefit of the anonymity and workings of the unique algorithm. But every single time, they've tried. First when yahoo got it, then when it went to verizon, and then when they sold it to automattic. Now with the death of tumblr live, they're trying to do another rebrand.

Tumblr is one of the few remaining online spaces where we get the opportunity to truly curate our online space, and share and experience things in a way that can't be capitalised on. The concept of a tumblr influencer doesn't exist, because there's no advantage of it, there's no benefit of being an 'influencer'. But the only way we can keep this website around, is to keep using it as the way it was originally intended, in the way that other websites have not worked.

Likes on tumblr are not the same as likes on instagram or youtube, they don't really do anything! They don't help the creator, they don't help promote the post itself in any meaningful way, it's just a way to safekeep it for yourself later. And while that's a totally valid reason to want to like something, just as a reminder of something and a way to revisit a post later in the future, I would highly encourage everyone to try and reblog things as well!! Whether it's art of your favourite ship, whether it's a gifset of your favourite onscreen couple, whether it's a meta around a certain show, or whether it's discussions of the latest major current news event, the only way to truly circulate it and create a positive impact is by reblogging! The more people that get to see any given post, the better.

As an example, KOSA is becoming a thing again, and we're all being encouraged to act against it. I wouldn't have found out about KOSA if someone I follow hadn't reblogged it first, and then i reblogged it again. KOSA is one thing that could impact our online experience DRASTICALLY, and it's imperative that we spread the word about it - forewarned is forearmed, and only when we know about it can we take action against it, right?

I'm not saying this to try and promote this blog at all. I won't lie and say a few more reblogs on this blog here and there wouldn't be nice, but frankly at the end of the day my blog contributes little to nothing to the larger fandom discourse in the grand scheme of things. I'm saying this for everyone else out there. If you want tumblr to survive and thrive as our internet experience continues to evolve in the coming decade, keep using it as much as you can! Reblog anything and everything you can! Your one singular reblog can have a butterfly effect on a post. When you just like, the movement of the post stops there.

And tying into my blog (sorry lads, i'm only human and have to make it a little relevant for me as well 😭), if there's one type of post on the website you encounter anywhere that I strongly recommend you reblog, it's a poll. A poll only serves it's function if it reaches people who can actually vote on it, and we can only get a true reflection of the views of the masses when the most number of people get to participate in it. That's democracy, babey!

Anyways, that's my biannual rant. Back to your regularly scheduled programming, and see you in 6 months for the next big rant!

Okay, so! I have:

Changed the url of the blog (scale-tippers -> abyssembraced)

Changed the colour scheme of the blog (though it's still somewhat subject to change)

Updated the avatar to reflect the new colour scheme (though it's still temporary until I draw a nicer one)

Removed my old promo as my pinned post due to it being outdated (a temporary pinned post with links and stuff will be up in a sec; a new promo will come eventually, probably once I finish writing Rouxls' bio page)
