i ended up not drawing the fursonias beyond sketches but here's the #canon scoop on the characters' archetypes and what furry subculture they'd be into

Bowman: his fursona would be a cool dog (mutt) who wears boardshorts and Sun's Out Guns Out tank tops with the stupid big arm holes. The art style would be Baracore and the character's name would just be Dog. He would be at every room party at every convention doing kegstands and he's not too good at drawing but gives it a shot anyway. Every character he draws has dreamworks face. Inexplicably popular until the multiple cheating scandals make the rounds on twitter. 6700 followers

Islin: one of those guys who only cares about hyper realistic art of dragons with every scale rendered up and the super elaborate ref sheets. Art style is early 2010s Realistic Anthro Dragon, character name is something like Ryvraxys. Never draws characters wearing clothes or doing modern day things. He never made it out of deviantart. Used to rp a lot but kept getting banned for god moding. His art & designs suggest an incredibly active After Dark twitter account but there exists no evidence at all on the internet that one exists

Félix: it's a twinky red fox obviously. The design is painfully generic but the lore is insanely detailed, more than you'd expect from a character who's mostly drawn in suggestive poses. Character name is his name and the art style is Lion King core. Consistently gets into the most insane gay drama at cons but somehow he never seems to be the one at fault despite always being at the devil's sacrament too. Bad at drawing but the writing is good. 436 followers after he got cancelled for saying a slur at an unmasked illegal covid party (he shared the video himself)

Jean: fursonya is a violet starling with back wings who's always dressed in a steampunk getup, with top hat. The name would be something like Faraday. Art style is realistic coloured pencils, rarely digital. He always calls them "anthros" and refuses to associate with "furries". Has a €10k realistic resin-based partial suit with hydraulic wings, is openly catty about people in "cheap" suits. 12988 followers, mostly from ppl who like the suit.

Léa: fursoney is a sexy snow leopard with a ludicrously complex spot pattern, art style is Guy Who Says Fwolf Core. The character would be called like Esmeralda or something. She writes callout posts which are always a little too gleeful in tone. 1256 followers, she's got a high turnover rate because people follow her for good art but then she fills their dashes with vague posts like "some people really need to learn that doing kegstands isn't a substitute for growing a personality 😘💅"

Senca: her fursona is a hare which is always drawn feral and with a highly symbolic art style, lots of staring eyes and illustrated thorns and moon phases. She makes merch (read: dropshipping plastic waste) and sells at artist alley frequently. Not particularly interested in suits or anything. She's blacklisted from one really popular con and nobody knows why. 630 followers.

Olivier: yeencore bark bark bark bite monster wolf type character which is like a wolf but with spikes on the tail and horns.

leporello is representation for so many types of people. men with purses. survivors of weird toxic homoerotic middle school friendships. extroverts that don’t know how to talk to people. people who start writing lists of random shit when they’re bored. meticulous bullet point journal bitches. people who bring noise cancelling headphones to the gay bar. dog coded guys. bunny coded guys. disney villain sidekicks. archivists. people who felt bad for the hyenas in the lion king. autistic people. jewish people. guys with a callout post they will NEVER actually finish bc they keep finding more shit. neocities websites that are only navigable if you have some kind of neuro disorder. doormats (literal and metaphorical). just kind of every negative childhood socialization experience you can have with autism combined. people who have trouble not forgiving others. that folktale i heard once about the goose who plucked all his own feathers to make sweaters for his friends. guys with anxiety. guys who grumble. guys who pace around while grumbling. normal people. wet socks. abandoned stuffed animals. etc etc

Hey, saw your posts with Kash and wanted to say I'm so sorry all that happened to you - I admittedly was in a drama group years ago where she was very active and it's not at all surprising that she continues to behave like it's 2012 and triggering the SJWs was the hot thing for edgelords. Also very not surprising she's now the person who whinges about cancel culture.

Admittedly after all the shit that I endured in the months following the call-out, it’s made me consider leaving the LK fandom — It was what ended up making me leave the MLP fandom as well (it was that bad that the shit had crossed over there, you likely know about it from the tags but if not, you can DM me for context) but I stayed anyways because admittedly, I’m TLK trash and there were some things about the online community that I genuinely liked.

Though it’s still taken a toll on me — Because every day there’s some new shit-storm in regards to racism or pro shipping, stuff which I want to contribute to people speaking out against but can’t because “look how well it happened last time.” (I had to stay off the TLK tag for a full day on my birthday because of this, yay! /s) It feels like I’m the odd one out, though in reality that’s likely the perception that I’ve created in my head because of it. And yeah, I still get some backlash from making it and was even blocked by some creators I followed, but it says more about them than me if anything.

And at this point, nothing I hear about Kash surprises me. Nowadays her whole blog is basically defending proshippers, scapegoating “antis” (I don’t like using that term, I’m against proshippers, but I don’t think something called “anti-SHIP” should be a phrase for people who are against specific, awful ships, my two cents), likening them to fascists, Republicans, puritans, media illiterates, cults, and homophobes (that last one cost her a few followers and was what motivated me the most to make the call-out and she unsurprisingly enough didn't address that little comparison, I doubt she ever will), and blanketed the term “fandom cops” onto people who were calling out micro aggressions. Again, nothing that surprises me, and I’d be beating a dead horse if I went any further and would probably end up on the front page of Laughable-lion-king-art if I did but it's nothing that nobody else doesn't already know.

I'm not gonna blissfully pretend that the callout-fallout didn't completely fuck up my mental and emotional wellbeing, but I am at least glad that I took some initiative and ended up gaining closure in the end. And given how many people really had it out for me last year, I'm glad you're among the people who are willing to support me. Thanks again.

the "friend group meat processor" goes like this

-person is outed as following/liking someone on social media deemed problematic or making problematic art. for this example they're a furry who has a thing for whatever the modern equivalent of nala lion king is

-they get called out and exiled from the group for having feral porn in their twitter likes

-finds a new friend group

-new friend group finds out about callout and kicks them out

-this happens a few times, their callout post building with new spicy "evidence" of misbehavior, lashing out at people harassing them, maybe they also had someone's pet photo in their likes on the same account they liked a spicy drawing

-finds a new friend group they can be open about their interest with

-new friend group either has actual zoophiles in it, and/or furries who came to the conclusion that having a thing for a furry with 4 legs is the same thing as zoophilia (since that's what everyone is calling them anyway), and identify themselves as zoophiles

-furry teenager now identifies as a zoophile, and/or is isolated except around other real/fake zoophiles. they get radicalized into sharing pro-zoophilia views. the arguments from the other side are weak, and this person is surrounded by people who've spent a lot more time thinking about arguments for & against zoophilia than most other people in the world, since they have a personal stake in the debate.

encouraged by the zoophile-IDing people around them, they feel they should broadcast the fact that they're a zoophile as well, with pride flags, symbols, or just outright saying it in their bio. they figure that they should let people know what they are, before a potential friend "finds out" and abandons them.

since they've pathologized their furry interest into being explicitly zoophilic, their furry+zoo identity is something they feel they should hide, even more than before. being isolated and having secrets that can be used against them makes them an easily manipulatable target for people with bad intentions.

this is based on anecdotes of people I've seen go through similar things, not the story of a specific person. I haven't been in any of these groups. this is what I imagine the trajectory could be for some people based on the callout posts of people on twitter (especially from a couple years ago when the feral discourse was going strong), and from looking around self identifying zoophiles' social media.

has anyone articulated how some furry/other fandom teenagers are being convinced they're zoophiles/pedophiles by the callout harassment sludge behavior happening on social media

the result of vigilant (self) surveillance, pathologization of any mildly non-normative behavior, the lack of support networks, and the way people on the internet handle "community" has led to 15 year olds with slightly weird interests going through some kind of friend group meat processor, at the end of which they identify themselves as a 'radqueer pedophile'

re: the Gavinners pets post I think that Pumbaa from the Lion King is one of the common victims for being put next to or behind Ham and commonly gets comments like "look at that beautiful man (and Ham's there too I guess)" and Ham would be absolutely seething because of them. It takes all his willpower (and some of Klavier's) to not comment on a random post with 2 likes about how it's not funny (he searches his own name regularly)

If Ham gets mad about one of the posts and shows everyone else in the band how bad it is Daryan finds the post later and screenshots it. Not as like a callout to the person who made the post he just thinks its really funny to get Ham mad. He has an album on his phone full of these screenshots.
