I like how the eventually AU gives Camila the opportunity to get another adult's perspective on Luz and the Boiling Isles during the human realm stay. Like, no offense to the kids, but when you're a parent and you're trying to determine if your child is in an okay situation, you're going to put a bit more value on the insights of a fellow adult than those of a bunch of teenagers. Let alone when the situation is that your kid had a secret summer-long stay in another dimension.

So I'm imagining one of the rare moments they get to talk when there's no kids around cuz they're all out trying to build a portal door or something, and it's like

Camila: I've just been so worried about Luz, she's always had trouble fitting in, she's never had any real friends, her teachers don't like her, it's hard for her to focus on things she's not interested in and she has trouble applying herself, I know she's smart but her grades are all over the place, she'd rather think about her fantasy worlds instead of do anything to engage with or prepare for living in the real one - except it turns out she's found a REAL fantasy world? And I'm not sure if that makes things better or worse.

Jasper: Uh, your daughter has made several very close friends and is generally accepted by the entire student body, she rediscovered an ancient type of magic usage that everyone forgot about ages ago, her teachers love her, she successfully convinced her principal to LET students study multiple tracks despite wild magic having been forbidden for fifty years, she's handled every adventure and scrape she's ever gotten into beautifully, she routinely surprises and impresses her mentor Eda the Owl Lady who was up until recently one of the most powerful people on the Isles, she broke Amity free of her parents' toxic influence and successfully deprogrammed my son out of a cult, she's friendly and creative and brilliant and everyone who knows her is extremely grateful to have her in their life.

Which is GREAT

what I love so much about Luz is how much she blossomed in this world and how much her old one stunted her. Makes me crazy that she finished human high school for whatever reason before moving permanently to the isles. I like to think Camila would see that her daughter belonged where she was happy, that the right place for her was, as much as it hurt, not here. And she would rather her be happy than be with her. Obviously she still sees her all the time but like. Luz is herself, all the way, without apology, in the world she found, and she is loved there and understood there. I think vee and Luz make such awesome- foils? Parallels? In that way. Both were brought up in these worlds that suffocated them and stepped into a place where they blossomed, where they could be genuinely truly happy. Vee had only lived in the human realm a few months when the rest of the crew showed up but she'd already fully adapted to human realm stuff! The same way Luz immediately just adapted to everything witchy. Amity and Willow panic at the sight of an alarm clock. Vee is already so familiar with this world she knows how fire extinguishers work, what human food is supposed to taste like, how to speak Spanish and use a cell phone and alarm clocks. The way Luz is like oh NO teenagers but vee just happily sits down and talks to them. These people are like her. They aren't like Luz. Luz is an outsider in the world she was born in and so was vee and it is so much better for them both that they found somewhere they could actually BE.

Anyway yeah lol this timeline Camila can really get the full perspective on how incredibly well Luz has done. From Camila's perspective her daughter ran away from home and when she came back she was wounded, traumatized and seriously depressed. She didn't see how genuinely happy and at peace Luz was there. She is totally reasonable in suspecting this place was Bad For Her.

But while Luz is unwilling to talk too much because she's depressed and all the kids have limited perspectives and probably aren't comfortable talking about luz to her mom anyway- jasper can fully be like yeah no dude you have no idea. She's a bright star people flock to. She's so confident and happy and optimistic and kind. She literally deprogrammed my child soldier son and rescued him from a cult. Won't lie to you ma'am, your daughter has put her life at risk many times and many people have tried to kill her- but they all failed because she is so strong and so loved that he is never alone. Luz is legitimately a hero.

What a wild thing to hear about your child. Both the danger she has been in but also... How much she has flourished within that danger. Your fifteen year old daughter's passion is in saving people from shark attacks or something. It's not just that she's happy, it's that she's strong, fulfilled, passionate, she's filled with a LIFE she never was before.

Hello everyone so this is going to be a pretty big blog about the upcoming future of my life as a artist. So to try to shave off some time I will be copying and pasting the Twitter thread I made to here.

Startiiiing now:

“Hey everyone I got another update for you and it’s probably gonna sound like “she’s changing shit again” but I feel like a lot has been going on in my life and a lot of it is changing too and I think I discovered something about me and my artwork that I feel like is important.

The reason I started pumping out content before this new job I got was well after I lost my old caregiving job YouTube and commissions were my only source of income for the last 6 month and I honestly was making enough for bills at that point it was my family keeping me afloat.

So yeah, life was not kind to me and I got.. well extremely depressed. I kept applying and no one was accepted them the one job I wanted I did not get and I was lucky to just get by. My brain all the time for the past few months kept saying I was a failure Until I got lucky.

I just got done with shadowing and orientation and I’m now officially working at a job that yeah can be stressful but I fully enjoy. I’m feeling happy and I’m finally healing from this dark cloud that’s following me. And with this month coming to an end I realized something.

Growing up my art was the one thing that kept me happy it was my happiness from real life issues and it got me to meet the love of my life along with great people in online community’s. However, the more it became a stressor to live off my art… the less it made me happy.

Not to mention the reason I shared my art to begin with because even if it was cringe or my art was not the best in the past … I always loved to see people enjoy it. It killed me to ask people to give me money to draw for them. It’s just not me.

I allowed a online algorithm, and a few words from a small handful of people to make me second guess what I loved to do, I allowed money to make me decide what I should work on…I realized I secretly hated myself for it.

This new opportunity in my life is why I’m writing what I am today and it’s my own choices and it’s one I’m actually happy with.

Everything I draw will be free to view I’m going to build it up on Tapas and Tumblr just for the multiple image support plus they have better age restriction on there platforms because I’m a adult and do want to dabble in NSFW stuff.

The one animation I have on sale in my store I will be making it free to view. For the amazing person who did buy the pack I will be dming them so once my paycheck comes, they will be refunded.

And now for the big thing.

The next few months I will be saving my own money and working on Concept Art for the next few months along with working on comics because by next year I want to work and pay people to help me bring my comics to life as animated projects.

The first project will more then likely be Jackie’s Everyday Adventure because it has the least amount of characters and backgrounds and will dabble in the form of 3D animation. This will be a strictly animated series with some rewrites from the original comic version.

Homebrew… is honestly the biggest project since there is over 30 chapters and I’m not even halfway done writing scripts. I won’t Even considering working on animating that until at least chapter 10 is out.

Everything else will be explained over on Tumblr that will be where I blog about my projects since there’s not as tiny of a character limit on there. Thank you all for reading this and I will link the full update on Tumblr and I will share a link to it on here.”

The only thing I will be keeping for any financial support will be Ko-fi but that’s only if people want to, I’m not going to have anything locked behind a pay wall.

Commissions will no longer be open because I will just be doing art trades or request. Since my new job is full time I don’t need to worry about the stress of not finishing something quickly.

Physical print books are still gonna be a thing however not for a long while. Since my old client liked my original books ill be printing a small handful of copies of them so I can give them to her to read at the nursing home. And leftover copies will be for contest prizes.

YouTube on the other hand… I’m going to be honest I’m not sure if I truly will bring back Pshattuckproductions. The most fun I have had with YouTube was building up lunar comics. I will honestly be focusing on that channel in terms of any uploads.

Okay, so I combined these because they work well together. also, I wrote more than expected... Hope you like it! (and I will always and forever be accepting requests) 40: exes meeting again after not speaking for years au 48: meeting again at a high school reunion au I also wasn't able to get the hint of chubby Jay in there, but know that I personally think he's built like a strongman competitor, so imagine him still jacked, but with that layer of fat that makes him the perfect shape for perfect hugs.

Jason walked off the stage to the sound of Bruce and Dick cheering for him, but his eyes were glued to Tim’s back. The genius had skipped two grades and graduated with Jason, and there he was talking to his best friend. Benard waved at Jason and Jason gave a fake smile that dropped from his face when Tim turned to look at him. The younger man quickly turned away, but Jason could see the hurt in his eyes. He had done that, but he couldn’t regret it, not when they had both worked so hard to get where they were going. Jason was going across the country to study creative writing and stage management at CalArts and Tim was headed to MIT for medical engineering, and Jason couldn’t hold him back. Tim needed this, he needed to focus and get through the hardest degree program he could possibly choose, and Jason wasn’t about to have any free time either. College was going to be murder, and no matter how much Jason wished that he could stay with Tim, they just couldn’t risk the heartbreak. He couldn’t risk the heartbreak…

“You sure about this?” Artemis asked. “There’s nothing that says you have to go to your high school reunion.” 

“Yeah, not like I went to mine.” Roy laughed. 

Jason shook his head and kept packing. “You both are terrible influences. They want me to give a speech, I kinda feel like I have to.” 

“I thought that you were going in hopes of seeing your high school beloved.” Kori pointed out and Jason winced.

“What?” Roy flipped over and stared at Jason. “You think he’ll be there?” 

Jason shrugged. “Maybe? It’s not out of the question at least.” 

“This the guys you’re head over heels for?” Artemis asked. 

“Okay! Everyone is about to be kicked out of my production if we don’t stop!” Jason slammed his suitcase shut. “No, I don’t know if he’ll be there, yea I hope he will, no I didn’t write my speech about missed opportunities because of him, that’s the prompt that was given to me by the committee.” 

“Good luck my friend,” Kori whispered in his ear as she hugged him tight. 

“Make sure someone records you, I wanna see the speech later!” Roy smirked at him. 

“I leave for the airport after practice. So let’s go please.” Jason started leading his idiot friends out the door.

Jason stepped up to the podium and smiled. “Well, we made it.” His former classmates who showed up laughed softly. “Look, you all got enough speeches out of me in high school, so I’m gonna make this short and sweet.” 

He took a deep breath and then stilled. Tim was standing there staring up at him, and he looked just as beautiful as the last time that Jason saw him. 

Jason cleared his throat. “So, as some of you may know, I am now a big fancy stage director of a theater here in Gotham. Shocker I know.” He paused for the light laughter before continuing. “There’s something huge about getting to do the thing that I wanted to do so badly all through school, but there’s something to be said about missed opportunities. I know, it’s not really the thing most people talk about, but I know that each and every one of us sits at home at least once a week and thinks about something that we regret not going for. Not quitting a dead-end job, not applying for something we know we could have gone for, saying no to an opportunity, saying goodbye to someone you loved.” He glanced at Tim who was still listening. “There are so many moments of regret that we can be filled with, so here’s my advice to you. Think about your missed opportunities, look at each of the ones you can change, and go for them. I know, not that much of a speech, but I mean it, go ahead and take the chance. Thank you all, and as a reminder, it’s an open bar, so drink up!” He held up his glass in a toast to the room. 

Jason wandered away from the stage accepting congratulations from his former classmates and trying to make his way to where he last saw Tim. 

“Jason!” Brad called out to him and Jason went over. 

“Good to see you man, what are you doing now a days?” Jason asked. 

“Well, I married Ashley and we have a kid on the way, I’m actually working at your old man’s company now.” Brad motioned toward one of the tables where his now wife was sitting and talking to some of the other women at the reunion. “How are you man?” 

“Livin the dream,” Jason laughed. “Just making it through.”

“Oh! That’s Bernie, I better go say hi.” Brad said his goodbyes and rushed off.

Jason continued in the direction where Tim was but by the time he made it through the crowd he was gone. 

A voice that Jason was worried he would only hear in his dreams came from behind him. “I wasn’t sure you’d want to see me.” 

Jason turned around and saw Tim standing there. He licked his lips and took a step closer to Tim. “There’s nothing more that I want.” 

“I saw your last show, the production of Newsies was amazing.” Tim commented. 

“I didn’t know you were in town.” Jason couldn’t help himself, he took another step toward Tim. 

“I was visiting friends.” Tim smiled. “When I saw the article about you being the stage manager I couldn’t help myself, I wanted to get close to your passion again.” 

“Oh, where are you living now?” Jason asked, he couldn’t uproot himself, but maybe Tim wouldn’t be too far away. 

Tim’s eyes lit up like he was about to tell Jason a big secret. “I just finished up a big project in Texas, so now I’m moving back to Gotham. I knew I couldn’t leave the city forever, but I needed to have my foot in the door first. I signed my new lease last monday.” 

“You’re back?” Jason whispered. 

“Gotham is my home, where would I be without her?” Tim responded. “So, do I get to know what regret you’re gonna try to change?” 

Jason nodded. “Tim, if you’ll have me, I would love to take you on a date, and maybe many more after that. I never stopped loving you, and breaking things off just because we were going to live on opposite sides of the country was the most idiotic thing I have ever done. Please, let me try to make things right.” 

Tim leaned in and pulled Jason forward by his lapels. “Kiss me, and it’s a date.”

Deciding not to go forward with any higher education after high school was honestly one of the best decisions of my life.

I've always done quite well in school when it comes to grades etc, but for the past 5 years of it I'd spent every day exhausted and depressed, and I can't honestly say I retained ANY of the information I learned the last 3 years.

Most of my friends are currently studying, and every time I see one of them work with school stuff I just feel so relieved that I'm never going to have to do any of that shit again.

The only reason this was a hard decision for me, is because my entire life it was so ingrained in me that further studies was just what you did (especially here in norway where education is free). In the 10th grade, we applied for schools in class. It wasn't an option to just not apply, even though school after the 10th grade is optional in Norway. And then towards the end of 13th grade we had classes focusing on seeing different universities and different courses we could take, which for people who, like myself, were properly struggeling to get through each day at that school, was very demotivating. Just the knowledge of never being done with classes, studying, and tests.

My parents had a very hard time accepting this choice, being completely convinced that I'd change my mind some day, but what they somehow don't realize is that my biggest dream is working in a book store. I don't want an office job where I sit in meetings or at a computer all day, and I have no interest in taking on any more responsibility than that. I enjoy helping costumers in the store, and for a lot of people, that is the job they have for their whole life, and that's totally fine!

I am very lucky to be living in norway, where the minimum wage is an actual liveable wage (at least if you don't have kids, which I have never wanted), so I understand not everyone, especially a lot of disabled people who can't work a "normal" work-week, are able to just opt out of higher education if they are given the opportunity, simply because they wouldn't be able to survive on the money they'd get from such a job.

But for people who live in countries where it is possible to live a good life without higher education, I truly feel like it should be more normalized to just work at a place for joy, and not just as a stepping stone to a "better" position with more responsibility and a higher salary.

(Not to mention the fact that there are way too many jobs now that you seriously don't need higher education to do, but that for some reason requires it anyway)

Again, gonna put it out there that the people who ensured Lucy's death, a pregnant child, were the people of Horseshoe Bay. Don't know if I'd defend them hard if I were Carson.

Hoo boy, here we go. Let's start this with a disclaimer: I know that the internet is where nuance goes to die, but I want to make it clear I am not anti-adoption. I also fully recognize that many birth mothers, through their own free choice and zero coersion, choose to place their babies for adoption, and even if they had access to resources, this is the choice they would make. I am not calling that unethical. I'm also aware I am applying my own personal ethical issues with adoption to a fictional TV show. Okay, we good? Okay, let's get into it.

Lucy Sable was a (presumably) 16 year old child who had been relentlessly bullied into an incredibly emotional state, had just given birth, and had thought the love of her life hated her and never wanted to see her again. This is not a person in a clear emotional state, capable of making long-term decisions. I get that they absolutely did not know that Lucy would jump off the cliff, but Carson justifying everything with "Lucy wanted this. This was Lucy's wish. We didn't tell the Hudsons because Lucy wanted this" is somewhat understandable but frankly also a load of shit.

Lucy did not know the truth. Ryan deserved to know the truth. Nancy deserved to know the truth. I find it very hard to accept that Carson and Kate were "honoring Lucy's wishes" by never telling her (and never planning on telling her) that she was adopted, and never telling Ryan, robbing him of the opportunity to raise Nancy, or even to know Nancy. I get that Everett couldn't know. GROWING UP Priya was the only child born to Rajesh and Tuviksha Avasarala who were overjoyed to have a beautiful daughter.  Her father worked hard, helping her country find its feet after it gained its independence.  It was this absorption in government that saw her family arranging her marriage to Henri Patil when she was only three years old–it also helped that everyone involved was magical.  She was often found with her family at formal functions, or out amongst the populace with her mother.  Her family and the Patils were close while they were growing up, with Priya and Henri becoming thick as thieves. Both children were often found studying, or playing casual games of ludo.  Their marriage arrangement proving quite convenient when Henri was also found to be a first-generation wizard.  As her 11th birthday approached, the two spoke about their plans, and their family expectations.  Both Priya and Henri received several invitations to multiple schools, and in a communal decision, it was decided that Priya would attend Hogwarts whereas Henri attended Mahoutokoro.

START OF THE WAR Priya was sorted into Gryffindor where she found several long-time friendships.  She wrote Henri daily, though it had slowly become more and more clear to the both of them that their relationship would never grow beyond that of a close friendship.  She was close to all of her dormmates, often choosing harmony instead of creating issues there.  But that same mentality didn’t apply to the rest of her housemates when they were being idiotic.  She excelled in school, and wrote Henri often, the two keeping each other in the loop about everything.  She was equally close with her family throughout her schooling, though everyone willfully overlooked her clandestine romances with some of her female peers.  She graduated Hogwarts with honors, and was quickly married to Henri once she returned home.  Both of them worked closely together in the Indian Ministry before a unique opportunity was offered and she returned to Britain after a couple of years as the Indian Ambassador working closely with Henri in his role as the Foreign Relations Minister in the Indian Ministry.  In her free time, she was able to pursue her passion of charms and enchanting by gaining her mastery. Her parents died shortly after her twin daughters were born, having been overjoyed at having grandchildren to carry on the legacy of their family.  

PRESENT TIME Priya wasn’t often busy in her role as Ambassador, though she pretended she was busier than she often was, due to the British Ministry’s lack of desire to accept help.  But she could occupy her free time working on enchantments, or making people think she was barmier than they originally thought by harping on about divination magics and astrology, a tactic she learned made people believe her to be insane in Hogwarts.

Free Writing About My Upcoming Week

It feels super strange to not have an official prompt this week, but I do already know what I want to talk about and share with you guys. I've mentioned repeatedly throughout my blogs my most favourite undergrad volunteering opportunity has been with Wild Ontario. It's a program that uses non-releasable raptors to educate about conservation and human impact on wildlife.

I was indirectly prompted to write a blog purely about my time and upcoming opportunities that I'm excited about with Wild Ontario because of Jenny and Kitty from the Arboretum Walk Video, both of whom I met when I first started as a volunteer as they were also volunteers at the time I had joined. Below is a photo from a program I helped with during COVID with two of my peers. We did a presentation featuring (left to right) Atwood the Northern Saw-whet owl, Apollo the American Kestrel, and Indiana the Red-tailed Hawk who are all non-releasable due to some form of human impact (permanent injury, imprint, habituation, etc.).

I recently decided to take the course for an internship in biological science. I was able to get a placement with Wild Ontario after being a volunteer for almost 4 years. I've learned a lot from everyone in the program about birds and nature interpretation like changing your talks for different goals and audiences, avoiding jargon that turns people off your message, and how providing a personal and unique experience engages with people so much more.

I've learned that as excited and passionate as you are about a topic, not everyone will stick around to learn about every single thing you've learned. Figuring out the wants and needs of your audience can be tricky to gauge because sometimes you can only get a sentence in before they walk away. This keeps it interesting though, and definitely has taken me time to accept and work on.

For example, above is a screenshot from the article linked, where a writer for Guelph Today was interviewing some of us volunteers and taking photos for an article. The picture shows me and Sibley, a Red-tailed hawk, but the caption names a different bird Freyja, and another picture is captioned with things that aren't about the bird I'm seen with. I was a bit surprised at the mistake but the dude was super excited and I understand it was a lot to take in from all the birds he met and stories he heard, so it's fine he mixed up the two birds that look alike (they are the same species after all). Here's a side by side of Sibley (left) and Freyja (right), the Red-tailed Hawks, and if you can tell the difference between them I applaud you.

On the 15th I leave for the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators conference in Orlando, and I'm going with some other Wild Ontario members! I'm super stoked to learn more about not only cool training ideas and protocols for birds, but also learn more about the industry, get some networking in, and learning more about how to be the best educator I can be and how to apply it to my nature interpretation! I hope to have another opportunity to share an update on what I learned after!

Many options here, one of them could be of c-ptsd, DID/OSDD or BPD.

- Ace date. Alastor has a date with another character, but it is strictly platonic. A wholesome opportunity to write him just having some fun.

-Age regression fic (this one is SFW what do ya think I am??) that maintains Alastor’s prideful nature. Perhaps regression in Alastor is less obvious than suddenly talking and acting like a full on child. Instead, he may opt to be alone when regressing with only the company of stuffed friends- in a secluded space where he’s not immediately worried about being attacked or barged in on. He might opt to avoid talking as much as possible when regressed even if he’s alone as hearing himself sound so “pitiful” probably doesn’t help his ego (he’s a proud motherfucker like damn bitch chill your ego is hue). When approached in a regressed state, he could try to avoid conversation as much as possible while doing his best to act “normal”.

Optional: Another character slowly and carefully encourages Al to express his regressed self more freely in a safe environment away from others (with only said character present as a caregiver.)

-Everyone thinks Alastor is sexy, how does he really feel about it? Is he flattered so long as they don’t flirt with him? Or perhaps the mere idea of people potentially seeing him as an object of desire disgusts or upsets him. Lots to explore here!

-Sex pollen/potion with a twist: When doused with some kind of potion or substance that usually causes intense sexual urges, Alastor just gets extremely cuddly and craves physical affection like petting or anything else of that nature.

Bonus points if even under the potion he’s hesitant to request this affection and finally has to blurt it out and embarrass himself a bit when the urge gets too intense and painful. (I’m so normal about Alastor, can you tell?)

-Losing a bet to one of the Vees. I might write this one, but if you like it you can use it to! Here was the little idea I had:

Al loses a bet to one of the Vees, perhaps in relation to angel dust I’ve seen a few fics where Alastor is the one to try and change Angel’s contract or free him so this could work or something else! I don’t feel like Al would be willing to offer his own soul, and since he’s on a “leash” I doubt he can, so I would have the conditions of his loss be that he serves (whichever of the Vees is chosen) for a finite period of time like a week/month.

-Sex Potion, still aware and able to verbally fight; but succumbs physically. (I like to hurt him a little too much ha.)

-Self harm but less from a “listens to my chemical romance, razor in hand” (sorry;-;) and more “Anxiety/panic = scratching, digging into his skin with his claws, hair pulling” etc.

-Horror birth. A classic. Parasitic being+ victim +parasitic baby birth.

-Forced feminization. This isn’t a whole prompt but it you added this to any of the above fics it could be fun.

-Consent to non-consent. Starts off consensual, Alastor attempts to nope out when he realizes how disgusting it all feels but for whatever reason this attempt is not respected and Al can’t do anything about it.

-Forced transformation into an angel and ensuing body horror. If my fellow trans-venters so desire, maybe angel Al for whatever reason is more fem than he was as a demon, but that’s fully optional. There are plenty of ways for cis angel Alastor to be horrified!

The stupid mistake is this:

It is supposed to be a secret from our clients that there's a new CEO, we're supposed to keep that quiet. I haven't talked about that with any clients, but I've talked about it here where I try to keep my job anonymized and I've talked about it with my spouse and my friends.

Earlier this week I called the other lady - "Jane" - who used to answer phones at the old company. We were in two separate businesses that shared a building and had a history and answered the phone for each other. When my boss sold the company, she went with the other business, which is run by her relative who used to be my old boss's business partner.

So I called to let Jane know that one of her clients, who had purchased a firewall from us seven years ago, might want to apply a firmware update because of a vulnerability that had been announced by the company, and we caught up for a minute. She asked after large bastard and we talked about her niece's wedding. She asked how things were at the new company and I said, "oh, you know that guy you thought was cute during the acquisition? He left the company. And I'm scheduled to meet with the new CEO this week. It's been kind of chaotic," and then I asked how her son was doing and if she had holiday plans and said we should hang out soon.

Today I got an email from my old boss with the subject line "RE: Your conversation with Jane" asking me who had left and what the changes at the new company are.

So now I'm pissed at Jane for telling old boss, pissed at myself because it never even occurred to me that old boss would talk to Jane or her relative who used to be his business partner, pissed at old boss for emailing me about this, and I'm exhausting myself chewing over how I'm going to tell my manager. (I am going to tell the manager, but I'm not going to send a message in the middle of the night and I also don't want to schedule a message to send tomorrow morning while I'm mid-commute to my meeting with the new CEO) and I'm kind of melting down about this because after yesterday's upset customer i was feeling pretty good about implementing some positive changes but now I'm right back down in the sub basement pretty sure I'm going to get fired which doesn't seem like it's actually likely intellectually speaking but feels true because everything feels terrible because I spent a decade working for a guy who yelled at me if i didn't respond to an email in fifteen minutes.

So, like, obviously I'm making mistakes and I'm struggling under my workload because it's a much larger workload and I'm still learning how this company functions, but also old boss used to literally say that he wished he could replace all of us with robots because machines wouldn't fuck up like we did and he wouldn't have to accept a world where mistakes happened.

So, like combine my natural perfectionism/procrastination cocktail with that backdrop and I am walking on eggshells around myself even when everyone else at the company seems Pretty Normal.

So anyway I'm in the "actually I don't deserve a raise I'm sorry I'll just see myself out" part of the cycle AND I also may have helped to resolve a months-long, multi-customer VPN problem today that will reduce our call volume and save time for the techs and identified a prospect that my boss had reviewed and passed on to me as a scammer before they could extract money or information from us.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Don't call that guy he bought a domain to mimic a group he's unaffiliated with! I'm sorry! These licenses will prevent the issue that's popping up with the free solution you're using and also I showed three people on the engineering team how to look up pricing so they don't have to wait on me for a quote before they communicate on their projects! I made a stupid phone call and now the asshole I used to work for is demanding information! I'm sorry, I don't know how the opportunity linking works! I cancelled a customer computer that had its backorder extended until December and replaced it with a computer that will show up tomorrow but I don't know how to link the second quote with the ticket that was set up with the first quote I'm sorry you have to take the time to show me! I'm sorry! I'm sorry I should know better I should have looked it up first I should have been the one to call the vendor I should have checked the URL before I wasted time writing an email I should have known he'd find out! I'm sorry!"

Part of the reason that it's a bad idea to stay at bad jobs is that they can really fuck with your head in a way that makes it difficult to work in more functional workplaces.

I made a stupid mistake but I have no idea what the scale of the mistake is. I feel like any misstep I make is a catastrophic failure. I'm upset so frequently that I'm thinking about quitting because I'm useless and it would be less painful than getting fired and that seems to be very far away from what my new coworkers think of me. I am behind on work and the only thing my brain wants to do is sit at my desk and grind in a marathon for like thirty hours until I'm caught up but because this is a functional business I'm pretty sure they'd be horrified if I did that.

I also feel like I'm being haunted by my old boss which is really putting into context how controlling and shitty he was when I'd basically gotten so used to it that I didn't notice that anymore.
