i like basically every ship with ethan! it mostly depends on the mood im in, but if im being honest, mithan, winterfield, and wintersberg gets frustrating to think about because they all dont treat ethan well canonically... lethan is fun because they have never met and i can make my own assumptions!

i used to like wintersberg the most and i still do like it, i just have expanded my horizons to other ships as well...., its mostly like a punchline to me though. they have the funniest potential which is why a majority of their posts is just joke comics. i do not like how people try to erase how karl is arrogant and egotistical tho. thats like removing the flavor.... the way karl acts is just very funny to me, hes so lame in a good way and i like how everytime he talks to ethan it sounds like hes twirling his hair and kicking his feet. canonically speaking, karl was very much in the wrong for trying to use rose and not elaborating and i will die on this hill. ethan is not in the wrong for being disgusted and angry that karl would ever try and propose that in the deal. karl is very arrogant so when ethan says no to him it makes him mad and he tries to use fear to get ethan to take his deal (kicking his chair and warning him) i like karl, i like how messed up and arrogant he is but i dislike how people try to portray him as a nice guy. however, in a AU where everythings the same except he doesnt try to use rose i do enjoy the dynamic they could have, especially if the teamed up (not with the deal where they use rose. ethan wouldnt agree unless karl never involved rose in the first place). karl is just a very entertaining character and i like him a lot, hes funny and his personality can be extremely hilarious

mia and ethan is pretty tragic and thinking about it too much makes me a bit sad, imo in a reality where ethan survives re8, he needs to divorce mia. im not saying ethan needs to hate mia and never talk to her again i just dont think they should be so intimate together because of her behavior... please do not take this as anti mia. they loved each other dearly but it wasnt healthy. their relationship was kept afloat by lies and mia doesnt change even though she deals with the consequences of her own actions in re7. she actively tries to hide her past from ethan and is mostly focused on trying to move on and have a normal life even if ethan will have to live the rest of his life in the dark.

she loves her family so much, shes very afraid of them leaving her so she hides all the bad things in the hopes that they wont leave. its selfish, its human, its real, her character is so amazing and i love her. she doesnt learn from re7 and hides important information from ethan again. i geniunly think they should have gotten divorced after re8 if ethan had survived. its tragic and its sad but they love each other so much. it sad because they both geniunly love rose so much but they themselves shouldnt be together. its just sad to think about it. whenever i draw them it usually takes place before re7. they should have divorced on good terms and shared custody of rose.........

ethan and chris is also frustrating to think about... chris is a major jerk in re8, whenever i draw it, its under a unspoken AU that chris did not behave the way he did in re8. his weird behavior in re8 is probably for a meta reason imo. capcom wanted to set up a twist villian so they make chris very vague and unesscarily cruel. while its frustrating that they turned chris into a jerk for the sake of a twist, it still happens in canon and i will forever roll my eyes whenever i see him on screen. he did what he thought was best but imo, execution matters more than the intentions. same applies to mia. they both did things that hurt ethan because they thought it would be the best but in the end they just hurt ethan.

all the ships ive discussed with people ethan has met canonically just makes it look like i dont even like the ships... LOL ... ethan just has horrible luck with the people he meets i guess... but i do enjoy the ships and drawing them, but again all of them come with the canon baggage that ends up making me sad because everyone treats ethan poorly whether they had good intentions or not

which is why leon and ethan is the most fun to draw without getting stressed... LOL... they have never met but just drawing what i think their dynamic would be like is very fun.

please dont take this post personally, this isnt a post declaring why ur fave ship sucks, this is just my own personal preferences and in the end i draw all of them anyways

None of SJM couples fell in love because they’re mates. Rhys started to like Feyre before the mating bond snapped into place. He admitted to falling for her during her trials. From the very first meeting, Cassian was drawn to Nesta. Before he found out they were mates, he already admired her and was falling for her. Honestly even if they weren’t mates, they would’ve ended up together regardless.

And now compared to elain and Lucien, who despite knowing are mates, aren’t falling for each other. Elain doesn’t want to talk to Lucien, she’s not attracted to him like Rhys was to Feyre in ACOTAR or Cassian was to Nesta in ACOMAF (before they even knew they were mates).

The mating bond is portrayed as a good thing but it doesn’t always guarantee a happy ending for the couple. For instance, tamlins parents and Rhys parents were mated and their relationship wasn’t as loving or strong as rhys/Feyre and Nesta/cassian.

Mating bond doesn’t strip away your choices. It’s not like imprinting in twilight - people can reject the mating bond. And even if Azriel has a mate that’s not elain, he would still choose elain. He doesn’t want a mate - in fact no one in the story really does - they just want someone to love them unconditionally.

Nesta/cassian and Rhys/Feyre would still be together and just as in love if they didn’t have the mating bond… so why is it different for elain and Azriel? They dont need a bond to tell them they belong together - they just know.

Lucien *only* wants Elain BCS he knows they’re mates, would he be interested in her if the mating bond wasn’t there? Doesn’t seem likel.

Rhys wanted Feyre from the first moment they met. Same with Cassian. Whilst they may have suspected the girls were their mates - they didnt know for sure YET still wanted them. Feysand & Nessian were drawn together well before the bond existed for them. Elucien aren’t drawn together as we’ve seen they’re capable and managing apart with Elain thriving away from Lucien, creating a life for herself in Velaris.

Lucien’s attraction towards Elain was mate instincts as he says himself the instincs were like a rushing river or something along those lines, Elain however isn’t attracted to him one bit which is definitely not how Sjm writes her couples - even when they’re in the enemies stage and I think that itself is so telling too. Elucien aren’t enemies to lovers. Neither hate each other. Elain doesn’t hate him. She is indifferent. And thate completely worse, when you’re hating someone - it requires energy, there’s passion. When you’re indifferent….the other person doesn’t matter. You dont care. Its why the saying goes “the opposite of love isn’t hate, its indifference”. Feyre and Nesta were never indifferent towards their mates. Elain is. That is what kills elucien as a ship, the complete lack of emotion from Elains side.

yep. I dont understand how eluciens cant see this - not EVERY mating bond is meant to work out. There’s a mix of good and bad bonds, eluciens clearly falls in the latter category.

Take the mating bond away from Feysand and Nessian - they’re not going to stop being in love. Their feelings for each other aren’t just going to dissipate into thin air. Take the mating bond away from elucien and you’ll have two relieved individuals that are thankful they’re no longer connected together. Azriel is questioning why elain isnt his soulmate, he isn’t questioning why he doesn’t have a mate and people forget this key distinction. If Azriel wanted a mate - Elain who has a mate, would be the last person he falls for. The bonus chapter would’ve shown us how he is still hung up over Mor.

A mating bond shouldn’t be the reason two people get together, it cheapens their love story which is what makes elucien/gwynriel so fake as couples. Elriel want each other knowing they can’t ever be mates (for now). That is a love story, choosing each other regardless of not having a bond.

yeah so this morning i was thinking about gruvia and juvia specifically and i'm assuming anyone thats ever looked at my blog knows that i like juvia (not her whole descent into becoming just a gray fangirl but the shreds of character that shine through every once in a while) but i really dont care for gruvia. and i was thinking about how much wasted potential that ship is to me like.

when juvi is introduced, we see that this girl struggles a lot with her past and how other people treated her, and she's clearly extremely lonely. but i feel like on top of that, it's hinted that she also has extremely low self esteem. when she meets gray and she falls for him, it reads as very comphet to me, but not in like "oh mashima wants to force romance" (which YES, thats probably true) but also it felt like it couldve been a way to explore just how lonely and mentally unwell juvia was to the point that she would latch on to the first guy that gave her a crumb of kindness, and truly believe that she fell IN LOVE. and it also wouldve been interesting if they used her obsession and stalkerish behavior as a way to portray just how desperate she was to cling to gray, who in her mind, literally SAVED her because of his kindness towards her.

like this girl is clearly very much in need of love and attention and her behavior in the first few months of being around gray made SENSE. this girl clearly was very threatened by the thought of lucy BECAUSE of how lonely she was, and in her mind, if gray was willing to fight juvia in order to save lucy, then lucy was potentially going to take away gray from her and she'd have no one again; that's why she sees lucy as competition. she couldn't comprehend caring about multiple people at once because no one has ever shown juvia actual love and care; in her mind, love is not something everyone deserves regardless, its something she has to earn and fight for or else she'll be left with nothing. i wouldve loved if mashima looked beyond using juvia as a comedic relief and actually making something meaningful of her hostility to lucy and her obsession with gray.

LIKE DO YOU EVEN REALIZE HOW PERFECT OF A CHARACTER ARC HE COULDVE SET UP!??!? juvia's character arc could've been about learning to love herself and accepting that she's not in competition with anyone to get love. learning what its like to be cared about beyond transactional relationships or being one of jose's goons, learning how to befriend people she once saw as competition, and learning to humanize gray and take him off the pedestal she put him on. LIKE OH MY GOD DO YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND!!?!!??!

plz ramble about queer symbolism in idolish I wanna hear it lol

Though if I get to all the queer symbolism, I will probably exceed the character limit if there even is one... but I'll eventually get to all of it in a google doc if you guys ever want me to release it lol. Even if not necessarily aiming towards the main story, we know that id7 isn't afraid of queer people... lol. one of the biggest queer symbolisms that I will point out is Binary Vampire with Re:Vale...

though i feel like the fandom mostly focuses on "oh dark vampire romance au that's so hot" and sure it's their vampire romance au or whatever but no one realizes like OH MY GOD this is one of the biggest pieces which contains the hidden queer symbolism that i have LONGED for especially with a quite literal couple like Re:Vale... all that in the big ol '24 too. Vampirism has existed as a way to display queer relationships for YEARS. Vampires reflect the secrecy and isolation that queer people have to live through, especially during the victorian era where being queer was obviously stigmatized and frowned upon, & like i said earlier, a lot of vampire literature contained hidden queer symbolism and portrayed the anxieties of queer people. Even now in modern vampire literature and even just within the writing community, it's still a major thing and major alternate universe for a lot of fandoms. Knowing idolish7, it feels like one fanfic at this point, and I really love the hidden symbolism within Binary Vampire for those reasons. Now to move on to the actual Bvamp story (any tls which i state belong to hunieday on twt), the pictures sort of display in a style or rather story form that was pretty common in vampiric illustrations especially again... those of queer people. In the very last sentence, "no one knows whether it is a curse or salvation" is basically equivalent to "are they truly meant to be together forever?" and the fact the man came back to give the vampire blood every night was a rather detail that's seen in most of these little queer novels and shit and I just think a lot of these little things are truly cool to point out, especially with the fact that i7 sometimes will treat their events/aus and stuff like fanfics, and I think it's funny, especially because they really aren't afraid of going out with them and even adding symbolism. Now that I mention re:vale, theyre WALKING queer symbolism, no wonder theyre marked canon on the shipping wiki. Green and Pink are extremely common and compatible colors... and you know what it's common in? Blooming flowers

I love this because blooming flowers also symbolize queer people in ways. Still waiting for Yuki to wear green carnations on one of his costumes or something, but yeah. we need to talk about mel because out of pretty much everyone in arcane ive been seeing the most drama with her and just... god is it all so fucking stupid. so for the next few paragraphs im gonna be talking about haters of mel, 'defenders' of mel, jayvik, meljayce, and just... everything going on with that because god is it a lot and god is so much of it bullshit and just plain old toxicity. so yeah...

so first off we're starting with with the haters and defenders of mel and honestly this is some of that dumbest fandom shit ive seen in a while? why? alright let's bring up some argument stuff that ive (and youve most likely) seen before. one of which being that her haters define her as 'problematic' and a villain which is not true well at least not more true than jinx being a villain. jinx is a worse character than mel but people hate on her because 'oh shes supposed to be portrayed as good!' when this was never the case.

in s1 mel was portrayed to be a politician and from what ive gathered she was meant to represent the upper class of piltover and the council members in general (with the exception being heimindinger). she was supposed to be a corrupt and morally ambiguous character just like what? politics, politics are not black or white all of the time. mel strived for her own goals and used people to get there. do you have to like her for this? no. you dont. in fact when i first watched s1 i hated this about her and her relationship with jayce gave me the ick (i did not ship jayvik at all during this time). but we'll get more into that later

now the 'defenders' of mel. where to begin? well first off if you dont like her you get called misogynistic, if you ship jayvik well then youre writing her out and therefore are misogynistic, if you criticize mel for any of her actions guess what you are? yeah misogynistic. they really like throwing that term around for no other reason than mel being a woman. what if she was a guy? would there be a problem with it? and what if people are still doing what they are with mel being a guy? is it still problematic? the answer is most likely no. also the problem with calling people misogynistic is that youre not attacking their argument but them as a person.

thats like if you said '1+1=2' and i went 'no youre stupid' or if i said 'the earth is round' and you told me that i was a conspiracy theorist. youre not attacking the argument but the person themselves. youve done nothing to disprove their argument, sure you called them a mean name but whats that going to do? people hardly ever even argue why thats the case and why its wrong, but they throw around the world mindlessly. i would be fine if people were saying that their argument was misogynistic and therefore they would be misogynistic for supporting it but even then just leave it.

not to mention that mel was written to be morally ambiguous in a sense (in s1 and in s2 she gets better but still is... eh on morals imo) and if you bring this up these 'defenders' will go rabid over you. calling you names and saying how youre 'part of the problem' and that you cant handle a strong female character and this is just by you criticizing them keep in mind. maybe you dont agree with their actions but that doesnt matter to them and its horrendous.

now moving onto jayvik and... yeah it has its issues, i will NOT lie and say that there isnt an unreasonable dislike for mel in certain parts of the community because believe me there is and its almost always uncalled for and their reason is lacking to say the least, once again mel is a complicated character and to put her in a box and say that she's the big bad is entirely and fully unreasonable. ive seen large parts of the fandom also hating on mel just because she 'gets in the way' of jayvik and i guess that this is true but also people do forget something really important

whether or not she 'gets in the way' of jayvik in canon (which she really does not as she encourages jayce to spend more time with viktor and viktor and jayce still have a bunch of meaningful scenes together DESPITE her) doesn't matter one bit. your fanon does not need to be canon in order for you to enjoy it. and tons of people tend to gloss past that because they just have to have things their way and then they throw a pissy fit over it. HOWEVER this is not the only drama with jayvik, once again if you ship this rabid mel enjoyers will say how youre misogynistic which... yeah it fucking sucks.

tbh everything with mel has got to be some of the most toxic shit ive ever seen in my life (not worse than mha and ochako but hopefully as a fandom we never get there). because mel enjoyers if they dont ship jayvik tend to ship meljay or jaymel or- whatever its called and since its canon to some extent (they did kinda break up) they will use that as a way to discourage jayvik shippers and once again call them names that do not make any sense to the argument that they are giving as they are just spewing out random ass insults to people who disagree with them

theres a smart girl inventing stuff and trying to change the world, a man comes along and supports her endeavor fully, throughout the way makes heavy advances towards her in order to trap her and get her to do what he wants. this happens and in order to trap her even further puts her in a position of power which she knows nothing about and therefore relying more and more on him and his knowledge. advances are made and they fuck but to him she is just an investment. of course as the relationship carries on he might start caring more and more about her but the manipulation never truly leaves

see what makes it so bad? me and my friends talked about this for hours thinking about it and finding out what made us not like the ship in s1 (keep in mind we did NOT ship jayvik only started after their divorce). we loved mel's characters, she's a strong woman a strong character with flaws and she's compelling. but she was never written to do morally good decisions 100% of the time and thats what makes arcane so good ignoring all of this is not understanding mels character or her actions

kairi is the third protagonist of the kingdom hearts series and the third member of the destiny trio, alongside fan favorites sora and riku. sora/riku shippers HATE kairi, and will go out of their way to discount her at every turn. the hate for her ranges from typical "she's a boring bitch" to fans of soriku making five-hour long video essays reassuring their fellow shippers that the big bad kairi won't show up in the next installment – to quote one video, "she's in a box. she's on the shelf. four walls, no door." kairi is the greatest bogeyman the soriku fandom has ever known, to the point where most of said video essays and fanon meta posts focus not on why sora and riku should get together, but rather on why they don't like kairi.

Literally has a 100+ page Google doc fan theory writing her out of the narrative and putting all of her (few) canonical accomplishments onto half of the popular m/m ship (soriku). Don't even get me started on how her memory was completely written out of the canon plot of re:coded. KH is a nightmare to explain so dude trust me she is THE victim of yaoi

She is so fundamental to the plot and themes and narratives of game and yet it is near impossible to find anything about her thats not ship bashing pre-mlm with the other two characters. I dont even care if she ends up with one of the main characters i just want fans to see her as a cool character to love or like, anything other than “annoying comphet girl.” You can write your mlm but pleaae stop inventing comphet where it doesnt exist. She does not even get to spend time with sora ever?? Why does everyone see her as a threat and a thing to destroy?? Let her have friends so help me

she gets treated in-canon the way fandoms treat female characters that Threaten an m/m ship. it's like, "oh why don't you go sit in the corner and be pretty, misa, while the Men have intelligent conversation and pretend they aren't ten seconds from fucking each other, doesn't that sound nice?" it's infuriating. and MAYBE it's better now but i remember her getting treated the same way in fanfiction too, like we all need to do just as badly by our female secondary characters as fucking tsugumi ohba, but with the added insult of making her be alternately oblivious of the relationship between light and L or actively trying to sabotage it—incompetently, of course, because god forbid misa be allowed dignity or moments of cleverness.

she's one of the first characters I think of when I consider old school fandom misogyny. The annoying bitch and clingy crazy gf allegations were AFTER HER ASS. She's also a lot more intelligent than people gave her credit for, but most seem inclined to take the Very Biased word of our unreliable, narcissistic narrator and his homoerotic arch nemesis and claim that just because she's bubbly and into romance that she's also a complete moron. Which is blatantly untrue. Everyone was afraid of Misa girlbossing too hard. Killing people and devoting yourself to the deranged twink of your dreams even though you know he'll never love you back??? Having a hardcore goth aesthetic and being so Hot even literal Death Gods are into you?? God forbid women do ANYTHING!

Not only is she the victim of yaoi culture, she is the victim of early 2000s misogyny by an author that wanted to introduce a girl character because he knew his male rivals were getting too homoerotic. She is a goth bimbo icon who portrays what I think is one of the few callouts for stan culture and what parasocial relationships can do to both the stan and the idol. The fact that she is a toxic fan of Kira and also hot, funny, sociable is tragic in its own way, which I think the author did try to touch on but was too misogynistic too really get through. Of course, she was reduced to villain status by the fandom and anime alike because she got in the way of the supposed romance in their psychological horror anime.

I know you dont talk much about ships or romantic relationships, but about utmv is there a ships or ships that you like? If yes, which ones?

I’ve recently found myself in a period where I don’t care much for romance (or at least, i don’t like when romance or sex is prioritized), but there are a few ships i enjoy or im chill with even if i myself don’t ship them or seek them out.

The most obvious one is Colorkiller, of course. I do love to explore every interpretation and dynamic with them, but I love when they aren’t like, “friends to lovers” but instead friends and lovers.

And I do believe these two could potentially be portrayed as just about anything, and they’re definitely a little fruity even if it’s genuinely platonic—given how it’s kinda implied that killer likes to tease and flirt with color, and other things that color wants to be done only in certain environments and places. (The “omg not here” drawing.)

There’s not much other ship content with Color, but I feel id enjoy exploring or seeing it just about any kind. Such as with Delta, in a poly relationship with Delta and Killer, in a poly with the MTT, etc. maybe I’d even be interested in seeing some type of depiction of colormare or even a poly between color, killer, and nightmare if it’s interesting and compelling.

I’m neutral or apathetic on most other Killer ships, except for a few interpretations of ships that can get annoying. I don’t really ship Killer with most characters, but I can try to get behind a certain interpretation. I’d like to see more HorrorKiller content, if only because there’s so little of it.

The only one’s im ever iffy with shipping him with the apple twins, and sorta with swap—swap because killer has hurt him pretty bad in his own dubiously canon, and I feel that the trauma Killer caused both Swap and Dream should be meaningfully addressed before a relationship even begins.

Swap and Dream don’t deserve to live in fear that their partner would hurt them again. (Or if you’re intending to go with a toxic or abusive dynamic, then to depict it with care.)

I’ve heard of the idea of i think Insomnia? Error x Ink x Dream? Where, for Ink, it’s a QPR—he does not have romantic feelings for either Dream or Error, even if they do have them for him and eachother, and everyone knows and is aware of this and it’s chill. I’m not hugely invested in it, but the idea seemed interesting.

I find Drink, Dreamberry, Stars poly, and Cream a little cute on the surface; but i haven’t really seen much content with these ships or how they’re commonly portrayed to have big feelings or opinions about them.

I think Crepic is cute, and that one ship between them and Killer (especially if colors there too), cute. I’m not a big fan of romantic kross, certainly prefer signanothername’s interpretation of them, but it’s chill.

This is gonna be a a bit of a controversial take but to me Farcille to me is not very appealing since Falin and Marcille's relationship is a bit too complex to be boxed into a simple ship. There's both gay, platonic and familial implications and I don't think I've seen this type of relationship in media before actually.

In the Anime they really went all in on the yuri domtext- I refuse to call it subtext because its not, in fact sub (jk) but in the manga it's a bit more ambigious. In both media though they're portrayed as close, like way too close just to be friends. I think this might have to do with initial impressions, Marcille treating Falin like a little sister while Falin treats Marcille more like friend.

If you've read the Manga there was an implication that at some point Marcille wanted a younger sibling, but apparently she ended up being the youngest and the last child (if my memory serves correct). When she met Falin, she was a bit shy, tomboy-ish, and seemingly carefree when they met, which can sometimes be perceived as someone being pretty childish. Because of that, in her mind Marcille may have somewhat adopted the idea that Falin is younger than her and such, and then her subconscious childhood desires made her think of Falin as a little sister. I myself is more receptive to receiving or initiating touch with my brothers since I'm comfortable with them, so I can see why they're comfortable being physically close often.

This may also be why she dislikes Toshiro (Shuro) so much, she was particularly defensive of her little sister. I kinda doubt Falin discussed ever wanting to get into a relationship so maybe Marcille wanted to beat back unwanted suitors? At the same time this may just be her being jealous and not wanting to let Falin go, which can be interpreted to be something due to romantic feelings for Falin.

Meanwhile, when Falin met Marcille her impression was that she was a cool academic girl that took interest in her and befriended her. Marcille is most likely her first friend at that point and quickly became her best friend. She clearly admires Marcille and good LORD have you seen that bath house scene?? It was much less yurified in the Manga since Marcille was clearlu tired from using ancient magic and was having delayed reactions but I really dont think that was sisterly in any shape or form, it seems far too intimate. Keep in mind she was the one who initiated the hand locking in the bath house, not Marcille, so that may imply sometjing. So this brings me to my final conclusions.

Marcille probably thinks of Falin like a little sister or at least perceives Falin as someone younger than her that she wants to take care of. At the same time though her relationship with Falin is also hard to define completely by familiar or platonic because Laois is literally there for comparison and their relationships don't seem very similar to me.

On the other hand, Falin most likely sees Marcille as her best friend, someone either her equal or greater in skill or talent. When she has a slightly embarassing problem (like her constant flushed cheeks) she wants help with, she trusted Marcille enough to go straight to her instead of figuring it out herself so that says quite a lot, considering Falin seems to be of the independent type and don't like bothering people. However, there are also some odd vibes regarding her behavior with Marcille that prevents me from also waving Farcille off, so again I hesitate to box their relationship nearly into a single category.

So yeah. No hate to Farcille but I think I'd rather label these two weirdos with "???" instead of just friends, sisters or girlfriends. It feels a bit more accurate that way.

The shortest possible version of this. Which is hard to do because this was a 21 year webseries with an absurd amount of background and moving parts to get into as well as a notoriously complicated story.

Restoration was the final "season" of Red vs Blue that to be frank should not have been able to release considering the company had been in gradual collapse for years prior to its announcement and release and most people had agreed the "true end" to the show happened in 2015 even though seasons would keep releasing until 2024. Restoration is not Terrible but it was clearly rushed and had the bulk of its content cut in order to make it happen at all before the company that was founded on its success finally shut down.

Grimmons is a pairing of two cast members which is so ubiquitously accepted as not just fanon but legitimate canon (agreed upon by the guy who made and acted one half of the pairing), like, not just as in everyone agrees they SHOULD be lovers, but like, they have just been stated to have fucked at least twice in series (one of these times got retconned but that itself is complicated so for our purposes can still be considered canon) and are actively portrayed as like, an old married couple who only isn't actually together based on a mutual respect for the current status quo and a general mutual dislike for Change and Emotional Communication. They are essentially in an unstated relationship in universe but what this translates to in real life is a solid 21 years of gaybait. The baiting had been ramping up in recent seasons (a writer for the show would drop his proposed Confirmation Scene that didn't make it in when the company announced its closure) and the trailer for restoration featured the two of them having a Meaningful Moment completely alone looking at the sunset in the place they met. This was The Moment right. Like the only moment they would ever have to do it, the moment they should do it, even if they did it in a kind of half assed way.

Not only did they not do it even though it seemed like they would (like. It had the exact buildup you'd expect and then it just. aborted) but at the end of the show one of them discharged the other form the army and they are separated forever. End of series. If this made you mad to read imagine how the oldheads felt. We felt bad. LOL.

The chucker v tuckington wars are honestly way easier to explain, Church and Tucker were close in early seasons so they were the popular ship for blue team, not as ubiquitous as grimmons but like, the obvious one, Plot Circumstances made it a lot more difficult to ship them, Church leaves, enter Washington who now has the closest relationship with Tucker on blue team, they have a dynamic that is so easy to ship it mostly manifests in fandom in ways that are boring as fuck (when they're not. Racist and ableist. But don't get me started on that.). Washington and Church don't really like each other which means you can't apply the throuple solution and everyone starts arguing about how like, Church had Tucker's heart first but Washington is better for him or whatever, like, very typical ship war shit. The truth is that all three of these men are terrible people and it doesn't matter who Tucker likes because his taste is dogshit either way. Now, onto the actuall discussion...

So this started with my post about 99% of wolfstar fanart making Sirius look like a woman and how it is a gross fetishization of a queer relationship.

As a masc person who ships a lot of MLM myself, i have noticed that sometimes when i see a fanart of my fave mlm ship, one of the more femme one out of the couple gets portraied in a very femmine way, sometimes to a point of no recognition where it straight up almost feels like a gender swap fanart (and its not).

I usually kept it no mind as it wasnt that usuall and didnt really interest me (for example, i used to be a huge Loki fan a few years back and every time id see a hyperfeminized loki it would be a Thorki fanart, so i just ignored it cuz i dont ship thorki )

HOWEVER

recently i got into marauders and when i searched up wolfstar fanart for the first time ever, MAJORITY of it was portraying Sirius as a baby girl (hyper femme, to the point where it looked like a hetero fan art)

That is why i got fed up, bc before it was scarce but this fandom has a problem.( Like how is it a majority of fanart?? you ppl okay??)

SO, how is this a gross fetishization and queerphobic you ask?

Ive actually seen a lot of people talk about it back in 2020/21 and since then had a few conversations about it with my friends, bc im not the only one who noticed this.

There is this phenomenon of CIS and HETERO girls/women that obsess over gay relationships. They ship mlm characters, maybe desire a "gay bestie" (but not a lesbian one), or even would like to have a bi bf (with a perfrence for women ofc).

I noticed this but didnt know what it was. It wasnt until i heard other people talk about it and talk about some research and studies and so on, that i found out what it all was about.

It is because girls/women in this society and era strive to be seen as equal by their partner, want to be seen as an equal by their partner- emotionaly and physically and so on. And subconciously or conciously they know that they cannot get that from a cishet male partner, so they obsess over the fictive desirable world of a gay male love. (Male bc theyre not queer themselves and fantasizing about a sapphic relationship would be very fruity.)

And while all of that is understandable and valid and actually quite sad, it does not change anything about the fact that these people then go on and invade queer spaces, take away representation, selfproject onto one of the men in the ship to the point where they hyperfeminize him bc they dont actually want to see two men in love, they just crave what the gay couple has.

okay, HEAR ME OUT FIRST!! do i hate the ship? yes. absolutely. does that stop me thinking about them every second of the day? no. i am in so much pain help me.

want to start with talking about berlin. he is a straight man. martín was NOT his bisexual awakening or something. he. is. a. straight. man. they could not work and berlin made that very clear on multiple occassions. he is also an egomaniac. he has so many disorders, and while i dont want to portray him as some heartless monster (because he isn't!! he cares about himself but that doesn't mean he doesnt care about others too!), i find it hard to believe he didn't keep palermo around to mess with him.

the kiss scene between andrés and martín is the root of a large majority of martíns issues. we see throughout the series that palermo is withdraw from his emotions and love, he has attatchment issues, and he has not moved on from berlin even two years later. he hasnt let himself recover from his death, and his loss of a hopeless, unobtainable love. when berlin kissed him, they both knew that would be the last they saw of eachother. they both knew berlin was willing to let himself die (both because of his illness and his love for his brother) during the heist. it left palermo with false hope, that maybe something could have come from it. but there never could have! that is their last interaction, and that is the last thought he leaves with martín. i wholly believe berlin was fully aware what that would do to him, and left with that as a little "you won't be forgetting me :)" because everything with berlin is Him Him Him. without the kiss, martín would have been able to heal so much quicker and easier.

palermo doesn't start to heal until two years later, when he gets involved in the bank heist. up until that point he blames sergio for the "love of his life"s death, but slowly comes to realise that this group of people that berlin died for are the most caring people. he begins to understand it. they are hurt, they have losed loved ones too, they are risking everything for a loved one. they are so much like him. does he make mistakes? YES! so does everyone in the group, but it is in his nature to stir trouble when he doesn't get his way. did his actions have awful consequences because of that? unfortunately, yes! but he regrets them. he is forgiven, even by those he probably shouldn't be forgiven by!

by the end martín is so much more in touch with his emotions, he realises that he doesnt have to settle for unobtainable love, and he can be loved unconditionally. he went into the bank heist for berlin, but came out of it with so much more. palermo would not have been in the place he was in by the end of it if andrés was still around.

money heist was so refreshing to watch as a queer person. queer relationships were not perfect. i understand the appeal of berlermo, i really do, but they are so unhealthy. i understand the need to cling onto any sort of gay rep because its so scarse in mainstream media, but there is so many queer stories in this show, and none of them are appreciated as much as berlermo, which i find kinda weird!! why is a relationship with a gay man and a straight man more adored than helsinki and palermo? two gay men who helped eachother through SO MUCH! what about the beautiful platonic soulmate relationship between helsinki and nairobi? what about the amazing transwoman, who was such a genuine representation of some trans struggles? please stop prioritising the cishet in queer stories. berlin is so important to so many characters, especially martín, but him as a love interest to martín shouldn't be the main focus in his story, because his whole arc was getting over him and moving on. in reality, he made martín the most unhappiest he had ever been.
