Okay so in my Computer Applications class we learned about conditional formatting in Excel, where you can change the color of a cell by inputting certain values.

We're supposed to use it to model heat gradients in metals, but I found a better application:

maybe i'm just a grumpy english major but i feel like a lot of the "lol people think shakespeare is pretentious but actually his plays are just dick jokes and swordfighting" posting can verge into "lol what if the curtains are just blue" territory. yes shakespeare plays are full of those things AND they are also profound and complex and thematically rich. people spend their careers analyzing them for a reason, actually. it's not just dick jokes all the way down. and sometimes people spend their careers analyzing the dick jokes. stop trying to pick one side of the dichotomy between high and low culture. it's both. it can be both.

Before and after the everlasting winter of my hearth was a boy, a person, a human being of an unknown consort, sitting, standing, in a state of waiting, for something, or somebody, or nothing at all.

He stood before the blankness of his page-like face, not a single emotion could be read from the paradox of his presence, nobody could tell from where or when did he come, standing, sitting, still waiting for the night and morning after, to come.

Kingdom came to ruin, forests grew and burned, he stood still as a dead tree, as alive as a still rock, but chest rising up and down, lungs full of bugs and life around.

Eyes shiny as pearly water inked from the middle of a moonless night, but wide and bright, and alive, this boy was so much alive for a dead tree. Skin called ebony, dark red and brown, from the soil he was formed, he belonged to the ground;

He stood, waiting, standing and sitting, in the light of the sun, colors of the eons to come had coursed his body, expression of stone.

Maybe the time had passed, passed so much stone grew. Like a tree branch or a flower, rocks grew around his feet. 

Standing sitting waiting, he was as alive as a statue from the artist’s hand captured the vivacity of life.

But his hands were warm,

And from the canva of his face, the waiting expression had a meaning.

Determination was the end of its thought.

We stood there, waiting, sitting and standing, both at the same time, with him,

We looked where he looked, we breath when he did,

We tried to understand, connect to an enigma that we would solve when the land collapses and the mind resigns,

We were not rocks

Giddy in the universe

As liquid as glass in the grand scheme of time

We didn't leave a trace big enough

As the boy did our mind

Our minds were a trace he had been standing here, for eons and eons, eons

But nobody dared to touch his cherry plum lips, or his twig thin fingers

Even trees bowed in the majesty of his self

Standing, sitting, waiting

Waiting for what

Who Were When will he blink?

When will the time move
